No Powers, No Problem

Melissa groaned in discomfort as she began to awake, her mind was slow and groggy as she began to regain her senses. Her eyes were still heavy but she forced them open, "Uuugghhh….wha….what happened?" she asked herself as she tried to lift her hand to her eyes, only to feel something binding her hands together, "What-what is-" she began as her eyes finally began to adjust to the low visibility of the room, and saw a corpse with it's jaw missing, dried blood trailing down it's gaping maw and onto it's chest hanging a few feet away from her. "AAAAAAH!HHHHH!" she screamed in fear as she tried to scurry away, only to feel her only for her boots to barely scrape along the ground.

Her head craned up to see that her arms were hanging by hook that was chained to the ceiling, suspending her just off the ground, "Oh will you stop your harping Shield?!" Melissa's head whirled around to the sound of the voice to see Sinclair moving with a pair of the cybernetic corpses, each of them carrying a large piece of equipment. "It's not like anyone can hear you down here." he said, waving his hand dismissively.

Melissa looked at him with fear, "Sinclair what-what is this?!" she asked, looking over at the corpse that had pieces of hardware grafted onto it.

Sinclair looked over at her exasperated, "I'm cleaning house, what does it look like, I'm going to need to move my lab and my subjects somewhere where your father and his drones won't interfere." he replied.

Melissa swallowed thickly, "Yo-your experiments?! Oh my god….you did this to these people?!" she balked in horror.

Sinclair sighed, "Yes, honestly I thought you of all people might actually see the brilliance in them."

"Brilliance?! They're human beings!" She shot back with anger. "Tobias was our classmate for god's sake!"

"Who was killed in an accident a few weeks ago when he slipped down the stairs when he was following me to my lab." he replied. Melissa scoffed, "Oh what possible reason do I have to lie? He noticed me go down here, tried to confront me on it but didn't realize that the third step from the top gets slippery from the cracked pipe above. Poor man, I would have warned him if I'd known." he said with a shrug. "So I decided that instead of his corpse rotting in a field somewhere or incinerated for whatever reason, I'd put it to better use."

Melissa shook her head, "By turning him into…into these things?!" she asked.

"Reanimen is the official term. And yes, I did." Sinclair said as he walked over to the dangling girl, the blonde's toes barely scraping against the floor in an attempt to put distance between them. "Oh clam down, I'm not going to do anything to you, you're a bargaining chip. Harming you benefits me in no possible way."

Melissa glanced over at the hanging corpse, Sinclair saw where her gaze went and walked over to it, retrieving a metallic jaw out of his coat pocket, he affixed it into place on the corpse before his hand glowed with a circuit-like pattern that spread onto the metal, "My quirk allows me to integrate circuitry, no matter how complex into anything as long as I'm aware of what needs to go where, it's what first gave me the idea for the Reanimen, by attaching cybernetic parts to human bodies I could use my quirk to integrate them into the human body. I'd thought you of all people would appreciate it being quirkless." he explained.

Melissa felt bile rise in the back of her throat which she forced down, "I-I'm not ashamed of being quirkless, and even if I were this is wrong! You're turning these people into weapons!" she argued as Sinclair turned back to her.

"Oh please, like anyone will miss these people. Most of them were quirkless anyway, all I did was improve them." he justified as he walked over to his completed Reanimen who stood by, "Think about it, if you don't have the quirk to do so, do you flap your wings to fly? Or run to get to where you need to go? No, these however are the solution. Integrating man and machine together! It's the ultimate form of technological advancement!" he exclaimed excitedly.

Melissa shook her head in horror, "They're people Sinclair…"

"Hardly." he scoffed, "You at least have intelligence as a gift. Besides the number of quirkless people in the world is only 20% of the population, ." he rationalized coldly. "And to think I have your friend and his father to think for the extra test subjects." he said, shaking his head in disbelief as he looked at one of his experiments. "Think about it, if there was a disease or sickness that only 20% of the world had, which would be more efficient and logical? Letting that 20% go on as they are? Or give their life meaning so they can actually progress with the rest of us."

Melissa felt her blood boil, these were people! People who had their lives cut short and Sinclair was using them for-for labor! "Your sick." she spat out.

He gave her a disinterested look, "No. I'm simply a few steps ahead of everyone else." he said as he walked past the Reanimen towards a table that had a lot od dried blood on it.

Melissa struggled against the wire around her wrists, Think Melissa think! There has to be a way out of here! she thought. Her watch she wore had a few self defense items in it but nothing that could get her out of this even if she could reach it. And she was high enough off the ground that she couldn't get enough footing to jump out of the hook's curve. Wait….the hook! she thought, tilting her wrists back so that the point of the hook scraped against the wire holding her in place. She looked down and watched as Sinclair and the Reanimen moved about, packing their supplies into a large chest, Ok when the wire is cut I'll only have a second, so where do I go? she asked, looking around the room.

It was a service room, and when Sinclair told her about what happened to Toby he mentioned water dripping from pipes above them. So we must be in the maintenance tunnels of I-Island! Great, this place is a maze…..but that door must lead somewhere. she thought as she looked at the door between the two Reanimen as she rocked her wrists back and forth on the hook, feeling the wire grow looser and looser. She shifted her hips, feeling her phone in her pocket, Ok…..I got one shot, I gotta make it count! she thought, flicking her wrists, and snapping the wire.

Her heels hit the ground louder than she thought, making Sinclair turn to her, his eyes widened as he dropped the box of tools he was carrying, "What!?" he barked before Melissa closed her eyes and raised her watch and hit both sides, hitting two switches that make a loud and high-pitched wine and ultra bright light emit from her watch! "GAH! Damnit! I can't see!" Sinclair shouted as the Reanimen also raised their hands and growled. Melissa counted to three, the length of which the stunning feature would last, before opening them and rushing past the Reanimen towards the door!

Throwing it open and kicking it shut behind her, she made a blind dash down the hall as Sinclair rubbed the spots out of his eyes. Running as fast as she could, she turned down a corridor as she reached into her pocket for her phone. She scrolled through her contacts before finding Mako's number and dialed, "Come on! Come on! Come on!" she chanted s she climbed a metal staircase; she could hear distant shouting behind her.

'Click' Hello? Meliss-"

"MAKO! HELP ME!" She yelled loudly.

'What?! Melissia what's wrong?!'

"It's Sinclair! he's the one behind the robots! He grabbed me and took me somewhere underneath I-Island I don't-I don't know where, I got away and-and-" she sputtered out in a panic as she reached a door. Opening and shutting it, she leaned back against it. Catching her breath as tears prickled her eyes, "Mako I'm scared."

'Ok, ok, Ok look I'm with your dad, is there, is there anything around? Like a labeled pipe or something? Anything that can help us pin down where you are?' he asked, she could hear him trying hard to remain calm as well.

Melissa took a breath and looked up around her, there were pipes and electrical wires but none of it was labeled! "I don't-I don't see anything Mako I….god I don't know…." she sobbed, reaching up to wipe away her tears.

'Ok, that's fine, listen, your dad has my communicator, he's talking to Cecil right now and he's going to help us find you I swear it. I'll tear this place apart if that's what it takes…..yes I will!' he said to someone, despite herself she choked out a guffaw. 'Listen just stay on your phone, keep talking to me, and stay where you are.'

She shook her head, "I can't Mako he has more of those things those-Reanimen and-" a loud crash made her jump and continue running down the hall she was. Turning left at a fork in the way, she stopped when she saw something on the wall. "Wait! Wait! I found a sign! it's towards the power plant!" she said, the fork in the path having an arrow pointing towards water treatment and the power plant.

'Perfect! Head there, I'll go there directly and-'

Melissa shook her head as she took off in the direction, "What!? No Mako if you damage anything on your way in you could knock out power to the entire Island for who knows how long."

'I don't care! I'm not leaving you down there for a second longer than I need to!'

"Mako don't, take the tunnels, my dad can direct you…..can I talk to him?" she asked.

'I….yeah, yeah of course, here.' he said, she could hear the cell be handed off to her father.

'Melissa! Oh honey I'm already sending security into the tunnels; we'll find you a promise!' he declared.

Melissa took a long, shaky breath, "I….I love you papa…..I love you so much…." she said, knowing that there was a chance she might not get another chance to say those words ever again.

'I love you too baby girl….I love you more than there's stars in the sky.' he replied heartbreakingly as she entered the power plant.

The power plant for I-Island wasn't nuclear, but instead was hydroelectric, using the ocean currents to power it by having large coils submerged deep into the water. The large room she was in was where those pillars were housed, a labyrinth of catwalks connecting around the pillars that were the size of entire buildings, sticking into the water below them.

"I'm at the power plant but I don't know how long I can stay here." she said.

'I'll give the phone to Mako, Cecil just arrived with some troops, I'll have to direct them all…..I love you honey.'

There was silence before Mako came back, 'Hey, I'm on my way, I'm coming in from the water to get to you faster. Alright. I got to hang up but I swear I'll be there soon.' he promised. Melissa nodded as the line hung up.

The door behind her was blasted off its hinges, making her jump and turn around to see two of the Reanimen rush out the door. She turned around and ran, the robots leaping across the catwalk in pursuit! One of them landed behind her and lunged!

"GET THE HELL AWAY FROM HER!" Mako roared as he tore through the catwalk below and tackled the cybernetic monster through the air and into the ceiling of the power plant, his fist slamming into its head, caving the metal in with each blow before he threw the monster aside down into the water. Invincible looked down to see Melissa on the catwalk, "Melissa!" he exclaimed as he shot down towards his girlfriend, only to be intercepted by two more Reanimen and dragged down onto the catwalk, one of them beating down onto Mako as he raised his arms to defend his head. "Melissa run! Get out of here!" he said as he kicked one away while the other turned to his girlfriend.

As it turned to move, Mako's hand shot out and grabbed its leg, holding it in place and tripping it as the other bashed his face into the ground, cracking his lenses. Melissa scrambled to her feet and bolted across the room as Mako fended off her pursuers. Rounding the large cylinder that went into the ocean below, she didn't notice the Reanimen clawing its way up the side, its head plate dented from the assault from Invincible.

Melissa looked back over her shoulder as the third Reanimen leapt off the pillar and chased after her. Reaching the elevator at the end of the catwalk, she slammed her hand on the button to take her up, the mesh gate closing shut as the Reanimen charged down the walk towards her! "Go, go, go, go!" she chanted as the elevator rose up, the Robot lunging at her as the cage use up, slamming into the wall and skidding down the side before it began clambering up the wall after her.

Meanwhile, Mako slammed one of the Reanimen into the other, pinning one of them against the railing with the one in front of it. The Viltrumite was seething with rage as punched the side of its head, tearing though the front of the robot's head, chunks of decaying grey matter and machinery splattering across the catwalk. The unit was tossed aside as the other lunged at Mako, the hero raised his arms and braced them at shoulders of the monster before bringing it own as he lifted up off the ground, crashing his knee into it's face and knocking it back into the column.

Mako didn't waste a second, his anger driving him as he rocketed into the Reanimen as it was pinned to the wall, caving its chest into the pillar before floating back to make sure it was down. He looked over his shoulder at the other one, with half it's head missing he doubted it would get up anytime soon. He flew across the power plant to the elevator and shot up after it through the tunnel up to the island, tapping his Earpiece as he flew, "Cecil! Do you have her?!" he asked, reaching the top of the shaft where the floor of the elevator had been torn open, flying through it he shot down the hall and into a stairwell.

'Not yet, I got Robot tracing her phone, she's just ahead of you kid top of the stairs.' Cecil instructed, Mako shot up through the stairwell after his girlfriend in response. Reaching the top of the stairwell, Mako's blood ran cold, on the ground was Melissa's cell phone.

"Oh no…."

Melissa held her breath as she hid behind the open door to the lab, she had managed to get some distance between her pursuer and broken the line of sight when she took off down a hallway and slammed the door shut. Her back was against the wall beside the door, her back pressed against the wall as firmly as she could as heavy footsteps echoed outside the door. She had found a maintenance door to the applied science building and was trying to get outside where she could call for help but had to hide in here before being caught by that monster.

The lab she was in was the chemical lab, where they made materials for support gear and hero costumes. There's a fire alarm on the other side of the room near the other door….if I pull that then they'll come! she realized before the door was thrown open, trapping her between the door and the wall as the Reanimen lumbered into the room. If Melissa's heart hadn't jumped into her throat she would be rolling her eyes at her luck as the machine man stalked through the room, it's strength making tables skid aside just from it walking into them.

Cracking the door closed, she peeked out and saw it throw a desk aside, smashing into the chemical cabinet near the back of the room where she was. Wait! That might work! she thought as she bolted out from behind the door. The Reanimen turned to her and growled, "Over here you failed science experiment!" she taunted, standing in front of the broken case. As it charged at her, the blonde support girl dove out of the room out the door, it tried to pivot towards her but ended up slamming into the wall of chemicals.

Melissa covered her head and neck as the shattering chemicals caused an explosion!

The force of the blast made her slide across the ground and into the wall, her ears rang as the fire alarm began to sound. Lifting her head up she saw that her glasses had cracked from the blast and gently took them off.

Justas the fiery corpse of the Reanimen stumbled out of the flames from the room, she screamed as it lunged at her, her hands lifting up to try and shiel herself from the burns before a yellow and blue blur shot through the hall and tackled the monster to the ground before slamming his fist into the head and causing it to splatter across the ground.

Mako stood and looked over to Melissa, the blonde's eyes filling with tears, "Mako!" her voice cracked as he scrambled over and enveloped her in a desperate embrace, Melissa croaked out a sob of fear as her arms wrapped around him and clutched onto him, "He was-he was going to-" she choked out as his hand came to the back of her head, his fingers entangling into her golden hair as he burrowed his head into the crook of her neck.

Thank you god. Thank you for not….. Mako pulled away, his lenses looking into her eyes with concern spread across his face. "Are you ok?" he asked. She swallowed thickly and nodded; his hands nearly cupped her cheeks before he realized that they were covered in blood.

"No! What have you done?!" The two whirled their heads around to see D.A. Sinclair with a panicked look as he saw his Reanimen destroyed. "Do you realize what you've done?!" he barked at the couple.

Mako felt his rage renewed as he strode over to them, Mako standing up between him and Melissa as his hand clutched into a fist. "Do you have any idea how far you've set us back!? The progress you've undone for the human race-" he began before Mako raised a fist across his chest and backhanded the support student across the face so hard that his jaw broke sideways with blood coughing out as the science student collapsed on the ground, gargling out through the blood.

Mako glared down at him with contempt, "Shut. Up." he growled out.

Sinclair was dumped on a stretcher that the GDA had waiting for the couple outside along with medical personnel to check out Melissa with her father, Mako watched as they carted Sinclair off with Cecil, whose hands were stuck into his pockets. "What's going to happen to him?" he asked callously as the student was carted off, his jaw still dislocated severely from Mako.

Cecil sighed, "Lock him up, throw the key away. We'll also notify the families of his victims. We'll ID them soon as he's able to talk." Cecil said, Mako nodding solemnly as Cecil looked back over his shoulder to Melissa as the EMT shined a light in both her eyes while her father sat beside her, holding her hand. "She's a though one." he said.

Mako turned back and looked at her as well, "Yeah….god how does this even happen here of all places?" he asked.

Cecil shook his head, "Some people mistake egotism for brilliance. Guy thinks he's right about everything can get others to think the same thing." he said before looking over at the remains of the Reanimen that they were taking with them to the GDA. Robot looking over the machinery, "Still though, impressive technology considering it's handmade." he noted.

"Sick you mean." Mako said, looking at the remains of the ones that he had destroyed, he couldn't tell where the human began and ended with the technology integrated into it. "Sorry I lost it but when I saw him I just…." he said, his hands clenching.

Cecil put a hand on his shoulder, Mako looked at him and was met with a understanding look, "Would have done the same thing…go home, get some rest kid." he said, patting his shoulder before walking away to join Robot.

Mako approached the father and daughter as the EMT stood and walked away, "Are you ok?" he asked, his girlfriend turning to look at him, hiding his hands behind him to try and spare her the sight of dried blood.

She nodded, "Yeah, a few bumps but nothing serious, whatever Sinclair knocked me out with doesn't seem to have any adverse effects and…." she trailed off as she looked off to the side. "Nothing bad happened so…I can go home…." she said with a hint of hesitation.

David looked over to Mako, "We're doing another sweep of the Island, we don't know how many of these….Reanimen Sinclair created. There could be more here. I already put a call out to heroes to help us search." he looked down to his daughter, his arm wrapped tightly around her, "But…..neither of us are comfortable with that." he admitted. This had been happening under his nose for who knew how long, and he almost lost his daughter because of it, until he was absolutely sure that the Island was safe he didn't want to risk his daughter's life. "Mako…..I hate to ask but I'd feel a lot better if Melissa was with someone I trusted, I'd usually ask T-All Might to help me, but…" he trailed off.

Mako looked to Melissa, "Are you ok with that?" he asked. She nodded making him smile, "Then it's fine."

"Wait, what about your mother?" Melissa asked.

"What do you think my mom is going to turn away someone in her hour of need? Besides better to ask for forgiveness then permission." he added.

Melissa gave him a look, "Call your mother Mako." she insisted.

"All right, All right." he said as he reached for his cell phone, knowing that he was going to have a long conversation to explain everything.

After a lengthy phone call explaining what had transpired on I-Island, Kali was more than willing to let Melissa room with them for the next day or so. Cecil was able to get them a portal to the Metuki household quickly, letting David give his daughter a hug before he returned to ensure the Island would be safe. "I'm so sorry to impose on you like this." Melissa apologized as Kali poured her a cup of tea. Mako had gone to his room to prepare it for her, or as Kali said clean it up so he wouldn't be embarrassed by it, and grab a shower.

"Honey you were kidnapped by an insane classmate, this isn't imposing." Kali said with a kind smile as she sat down beside her.

Melissa looked down at her tea before taking a sip, the other worldly coldness she felt since the ordeal ended warming up slightly. "Still I'm kicking Mako out of his room-"

"Which he offered to you. I say enjoy the light pampering." Kali said with a small smile before taking a sip of her drink as well.

The upstairs door closing made the blonde look up to see Mako walk out of the bathroom with a white tee shirt and grey sweatpants. Floating over the banister, he landed softly on the floor and waked over with a yawn, "You're sure you don't need me to fly out and grab anything like shampoo or something?" he asked.

Melissa smiled and shook her head, "For the hundredth time, your fine." she assured as she looked down at her tea, "I think I might just go to bed if that's alright?" she asked.

Mako and Kali both nodded, "Yeah sure thing." Mako said, Melissa setting down her now empty cup before Mako led her upstairs to his room as Kali watched them go. Her heart went out to the poor girl for what she had endured over the past day.

Mako opened the door to his room with some hesitation, "Um….just so you know, you knew In was a nerd going in with me." he lightly joked before opening the door and inviting her into his room. Stepping inside, Melissa looked around with a flicker of excitement, the walls were decorated with posters of comic book covers and art, not so much that it completely covered the walls, but enough to show what he liked. Beside the door was a bookshelf with thick collections of comic books in trades, with two long boxes standing behind the door which contained single issues.

In the corner of his room was his bed, a modest twin sized bed with blue blankets and pillows, opposite of the bed was a dresser with the TV standing atop it, a few devices plugged into it along with a few figurines. Looking back at Mako she saw his cheeks redden in embarrassment, "I uhh….I don't show this stuff off to everyone. I know it's pretty nerdy but….well this is….me." he admitted.

Melissa smiled at his honesty, "I like it. It's really nice to see that you have something you enjoy." she said, making the teen visibly relax. The blonde coughed into her hand, "Now um…..I should get changed." she said, looking over at the bag she had hastily packed with clothes for a day or two.

Mako perked up, "Right! Right." he said nodding as he left Melissa to change, closing the door behind him. Flying back down into the living room, he saw the sly look his mother gave him, "What?"

She shrugged her shoulders in spite of the grin that remained on her face, "Nothing. Just…..didn't know you'd be out here so soon." she teased.

"Moooom." he groaned as he walked into the living room, the sofa acting as his makeshift bed for the night. Plopping down on the cushions, he let out a breath he felt he had been holding in ever since Melissa called him. Kali walked up behind the couch and laid a hand on her son's shoulder, "Hey. I'm proud of you."

He looked over his shoulder at his mom, "Thanks…." he smacked his lips together, "…I almost lost her mom." he said sadly.

Kali's smile vanished, "But you didn't."

"I know I just…..after dad, I tried to make sure that no one….that no one dies when I'm able to stop it. But this was the first time it happened to someone I know I-" he trailed off before swallowing thickly. "The whole time? There was voice in the back of my head saying, 'You're going to fail again'. And if I lost her…." he lowered his head. God forbid that something happen to Melissa, forget Sinclair's jaw, he'd be lucky if he was alive.

Kali leaned over the seat and wrapped her arms around him, "Oh honey…"

He reached up and held her hand, "I hope he rots away in a cell for the rest of his miserable life." he said venomously. He'd be lying if he said he wasn't tempted to do worse to Sinclair after his backhand, but seeing him on the ground not able to talk? It seemed appropriate punishment for now.

D.A. Sinclair sat inside his prison cell, his newly wired jaw braced with neck brace and bandage that wrapped around his head. His mouth was still bloody from the attack he had suffered from, and he was still unable to speak for at least a few weeks. "Comfortable?" Sinclair looked up from the ground to the other side of his prison bars. On the other side stood Cecil Steadman, watching the student with a calculative gaze. "My men are currently taking apart those Reanimen that you made, the grafting of machinery isn't natural so I have to assume it's related to your quirk." he assumed.

Sinclair nodded, "Your able to graft technology that you have access to into whatever you want it to through a metallic substance you create. You have a CPU of a GPS, you can absorb it and make anything with that technology inside it. Getting to I-Island you were able to get your hands on a lot of hardware that normally isn't available for the public." Cecil surmised as he paced in front of the cell. Sinclair rolled his eyes and nodded, "You were able to make cybernetic drones that were strong enough to give one of my tougher agents a knock-around. And this was with scrap you managed to collect from discarded projects. It'd be inspiring….if the drones weren't made of human bodies."

Sinclair let out an annoyed grunt, "Sinclair. I'm here with an offer." he said, gaining the attention of the incarcerated. "You will have NO criminal record, you will NOT face incarceration, in fact you won't be punished in ANY way. As long as you accept our terms." Cecil said, turning to face him. "D.A. Sinclair, the Global Defense Agency, on behalf of United Nations and other government organizations around the world would like to offer you a job."

Melissa couldn't sleep. It wasn't that she didn't want to, sleep sounded wonderful to her, but staring up at the ceiling of her boyfriend's bedroom, she couldn't find it in herself to relax. She knew it was foolhardy, she was off I-Island, over a few thousand miles away from where those Reanimen were, and still she found herself listening for every small sound in fear. She was perfectly safe here…..but in spite of that fact she didn't feel it.

Pushing the covers of the bed off herself, she swung her legs up out of bed and sat up in her pink pajama shorts and black top. Looking over at the small side table beside the bed, she saw the digital clock reading 2:00 a.m. ….she had gotten here at 11. Sighing to herself, she stood up, Maybe a glass of water will help? she thought as she walked to the door.

She was careful to close it so not to wake up Mako or Kali, walking down the stairs into the main room however she found she didn't need to worry about that as Mako was sprawled out on the couch watching TV, on the big screen was playing a older black and white movie with two samurai apparently sparring in front of a crowd of people. "Mako?" she asked in a whisper, the teen's head poked up over the couch.

"Oh! Hey, sorry did I wake you?" he asked. She shook her head as she walked around the couch, "I couldn't sleep and I wanted to turn something on to fall asleep to." he explained.

Melissa shook her head, "No it's fine I….I can't sleep either." she admitted, taking a seat next to him. She felt him scoot over and wrap an arm around her back, she let herself be pulled into his embrace, letting out a shuttering breath, "I thought…..god I thought I was going to die." she admitted.

She felt him tense somewhat but he proceeded to run his hand up and down her arm comfortingly, she looked up at him from his shoulder, "But you were there….." she said, smiling weakly.

"And I'll always be." he replied.

Melissa closed her eyes and slid into him more, "Mako….can I stay here with you? I…..I just…" she trailed off.

Mako swallowed and nodded, "Y-Yeah….sure." he agreed, Melissa adjusting herself on the couch so that she leaned onto him. Laying down on the couch, Melissa's front pressed against his own as her head turned and laid against his chest, her golden hair curtaining around her head as her ear pressed against Mako's broad chest, listening to his heartbeat. Mako swallowed before wrapping his arms around her, his girlfriend sighing blissfully as she felt his strong hands encircle around her.

Her eyes closed and soon she finally felt herself slip off into dreamland.

Mako followed soon after.

Waking up the next morning had been…..eventful….considering that Mako's mother was in the kitchen making breakfast while her son desperately denied that anything happened while Melissa tried to hide herself inside the sofa in embarrassment. However as soon as Kali brought food out to eat, she realized just how hungry she was from the past 24 hours and dug in along with Mako. "Which do you like better? Scrambled or over medium eggs?" Kali asked as she prepared another egg on the skillet.

Mako finished up his French toast as Melissa drank a sip of her orange juice, the guest of the Metuki household thought as she swallowed her drink, "I like Scrambled."

Mako hummed, "Over medium I think are better, you get more flavor out of the yoke." he replied.

Melissa nodded, "True, but scrambled is easier to make." she reasoned. Kali set a plate down in front of the blonde, making her smile at Kali, "Thank you again for the food, you really didn't need to."

Kali waved her off as she grabbed a cup of coffee, "It's fine Melissa, besides I'm used to cooking for three." she said with a smile before taking a drink of her coffee. Mako smiled as the buzzer to the apartment went off, Kali tilted her head as she walked over to the elevator to see who wanted to come up. Pressing the video screen, she let out a laugh, "It's Izuku." she said, pressing the button that would allow him up to the penthouse.

Moments later the elevator opened and Izuku walked out in a dark blue hoodie that had the kanji for 'hood' on the front of it. "Hey Ms. Metuki, Mako, Melissa-" he greeted as he walked in before doing a double take upon seeing the blonde American who simply waved at him. "Wait, Melissa?! What are you doing here?" he asked in confusion. Mako nearly choked when he heard the question, the last time he was asked something like that he had accidently said that Melissa was his girlfriend before they were actually dating!

"Oh Melissa just spent the night here is all." Kali answered before he could.

Izuku's face was stoic as he let the information sink in, before his entire face became red with embarrassment, "No! Not like that!" Mako shouted as he waved his arms out denyingly.

After getting Izuku seated and calmed down, Mako went through an explanation of what transpired on I-Island. The combination of shock, disgust, and anger that Izuku's face had after hearing the story summed up how Mako had felt afterwards. "I can't believe something like this could even happen!"

Melissa nodded sadly, "I know….I-Island is supposed to be a place of technological advancement that helps everyone. Not whatever sick idea Sinclair had about it." she said with a shake of her head. The trio of teens sat around the living room; Kali having gone to her office to get some work done while the three talked. "I can't imagine how the rest of the world will react when it learns about what happened."

"Hopefully they'll be more through about who they let onto the island." Mako said.

Izuku looked down between him and Mako, when he was younger and didn't have a quirk, he tried everything in his power to try and make it manifest. But grafting cybernetics to himself? That seemed beyond extreme even by today's standards, "At least he's imprisoned now. And he won't be able to hurt anyone else."

The couple nodded in agreement, Izuku looked to the blonde with sympathy, "Melissa I'm so sorry that happened to you." he apologized.

She offered him a small smile as she shook her head, "It's alright, Mako was there." she said, turning to look at her boyfriend who could only bow his head slightly at the praise directed at him, he knew that he did everything he could but still the entire ordeal had scared the hell out of him. "Oh, I can't believe I didn't ask, what brought you here Izuku?"

The green haired teen perked up, "Oh! Right, I wanted to go over Mako's internships with him, we didn't get a chance to yesterday." he explained.

"Oh yeah right! Hang on, let me grab them." he said as he leaned back over the sofa and grabbed his book bag that he had dropped off here yesterday. Digging into his bag he pulled out the papers he retrieved the short list of pros who sent him an offer along with the ones the school provided for them. "I'm not sure exactly what I want to do but I got one in mind." he said as he passed them to Izuku.

"Internships?" Melissa asked, "But your first years, I didn't start interning until last summer." she commented.

Mako shook shrugged, "I think it's different from what you did, you actually worked with a company that you reached out to, this is more provided by the school itself." he reasoned before his phone went off. Pulling it out of his pocket, his eyes widened slightly when he saw Cecil's number. "Hang on I gotta take this." he said, standing up and walking away to answer the call privately on the balcony. "Cecil, hey it's me. What's up?"

'I'm checking in, how's Melissa doing?' Cecil asked as Mako closed the door to the living room behind him.

He glanced at her through the window, "She's doing better but she was terrified last night Cecil. I can't really blame her after what that monster did." he said, imagining himself in her shoes, he honestly wasn't sure if he would have made it out of the basement where she was being held at. Let alone managed to nearly destroy one all by himself with no powers.

'Well neither of you need to worry about him. I'm also calling because I heard back from U.A. this morning and they approved my request for you.' he explained.

Mako walked over to the railing and leaned on it, "Oh yeah, you said that they weren't on board or something at first." he recalled.

'Yes and it took some considerations to get them to agree. How familiar are you with the Space Force program?' he asked suddenly.

Mako was taken off guard by the question as he recalled what exactly it was, "Isn't that the branch of the United States that's involved in space defense or something?" he asked unsurely.

'Yes, it was instituted years ago but it wasn't until recently in the past four decades that it's really taken off. They finished contracting a base on the moon eight years ago and they've been moving supplies to it so we can start a colony on Mars.' Cecil explained, Mako felt like he was at school during a history lecture but kept his mouth shut. 'After your father's attack, the United States gave the agency all but a blank check to invest in Space Defense. Things have been accelerating and they're going to launch this week from lunar orbit to Mars on the first trip to establish a Mars colony.'

Mako slowly nodded, "Yeeeah that sounds familiar I think I heard about that on the news." he recalled, having seen it in the weeks following his fight with his father. It made sense that world governments would push for something like this, especially after learning about the Viltrumites and the threat they posed.

'I want you to accompany the shuttle to Mars with Thirteen and ensure that nothing goes wrong. After Nolan…..humanity needs a win Mako.' he explained.

Mako blinked, "Wait…..I get to go to space!?" he asked excitedly, truth be told he could fly to outer space any time he wanted to but like with any sort of travel it took time for him to travel from planet to planet. He was certainly faster in space without gravity or wind resistance slowing him down but it would still take him a while to reach any planets in the solar system as he was right now.

'Yeah, try not to die up there. Or get lost. Or….you know what just stay close to the ship and everything should be fine. I'm not expecting anything to go wrong but I'd rather be prepared just in case.' he reasoned. 'Thirteen will be there to help you with your studies and make sure you don't miss anything while your up there.' he explained.

"So I get to take my schoolwork with me into space…..greaaat." he drawled out.

'Sorry kid, hands are tied. You leave tomorrow, pack a lunch. It's gonna be a long trip.' Cecil said before hanging up.

Mako looked up at the morning sky, "Space huh…cool."

AN: I'm back after a week of writing IzuOcha week! While it was nice to participate in, I'm glad to be back to writing this. Now I'll be honest when I planned this out, I thought this chapter would be more of Melissa running for her life but honestly I think this is just the right amount of it, any more and it might feel just bloated. I also have begun working on next season's details and even have chapter names picked out, but it's going to be a while before we get to season 3.

Meanwhile in MHA news…Deku you are one dense motherfu- seriously how is he this dense?! Joking aside the last few chapters have been engaging and I'm really looking forward to the end of the series. But I'm still holding out hope that we'll somehow get a sequel series like Dragonball Z or something.

Also…..I have seen the Batman…it's great, 10/10, suck it Snyder fanboys who think batman is a punisher ripoff with a funny hat.

Meanwhile, onto reviews!

Fanfictioner8: Really? I mean I know the effect is different in the manga, Deku's skin gets kind of texturized, but honestly the green lightning is just cool as hell.

Messiah of Authors: Yeah I loved writing that scene, It's really nice to write Deku as having someone he can consider a close friend in the story who actually knows him before everyone else does.

abarrow899: Didn't really consider it, I mean the rankings aren't something that I think Nolan would be concerned about.

Maelstrom Resurrected: Not entirely sure what game you're talking about.

DGrayman97: Ok I haven't seen The Boys tv series, I did read the comic and honestly it was just mean spirited for the sake of being mean spirited. I don't have much of an interest in the show, I hear good things though. As for crossing it over with MHA….that's tricky. I mean tonally wise they are complete opposite ends of the spectrum, but if there's an aspect from the boys you would like to explore with MHA characters? Then there might be something there.

Guest 2: Ok Fire Breather is SUPER weird for me because the first time I saw it, it was the 3D animated movie about the comic that was out of NOWHERE on Cartoon Network. Now I just wonder, 'Is that in the same universe as Invincible? And Spawn?'

TheCarcassKing: Like Superman? No, Viltrumites aren't solar powered.

Sarcasam Sage 626: There are some dark moments in invincible, but Sinclair's stuff I think is kind of the most like…horror it gets? And yeah I love writing the beach scene, Mako and Izuku is friendship I that I genuinely like writing and I really am looking forward to writing more of it.

Yea-Yah: Oh Steven Yuen, same as the TV show, no question.
