This Missive, This Machination!
The class of 1A had returned from their internships and were already back in the classroom for school. Suffice to say, no one was really happy about it. Except for Mako, Mako was loving it here, "GIVE ME THAT PHONE OR I'LL KILL YOU!" Bakugo roared at his floating classmate who was hovering up a safe distance in the air while he took photos of his least favorite person's new look. Apparently while interning under Best Jeanist at his agency, Bakugo had been forced to get a haircut, instead of the spikey blonde mess that looked like an explosion, his hair was now neatly combed to the side.
"Then I'll die a happy man! Hahahahaha!" Mako cackled while Kirishima and Sero both laughed uncontrollably from the sight of their classmate as well. Izuku's head as face down in his desk, trying to keep himself from laughing out loud as well but from the way his upper body was bouncing up and down it wasn't working very well.
Floating across the room, he put the entire class between him and Bakugo, buying him enough time to post the photo to the group chat, as Bakugo got closer he held up his phone, "Too late, it's on the web. There's nothing you can do." He cheekily added, Bakugo yelled out in frustration before stomping over to his seat, loudly pulling out his chair, and plopping down in it.
Kaminari wiped a tear away, "Oh man, the internships were worth it just to get that photo." He said happily. Looking at the Viltrumite teen he asked, "I heard you got to work with Mirko Mako, how did it go?" he asked.
Mako smiled and shrugged his shoulder, "Busy, that woman might be the most active hero out there right now. But I got a of experience in." he admitted.
Jiro tilted her head, "I heard you had to tangle with that Nomu from the USJ again, how did that go?" she asked, the others looked at their classmate curiously who could only rub the back of his head.
"Well it's not coming back this time, I threw it's head far into space so it can't regenerate, and the GDA confiscated the remains here and are probably going to find a way to destroy them." He explained, Donald having called him last night to inform him of the status of the remains. "In fact I'm pretty sure once they identify who those other Nomu were that's the plan for all of them." He reasoned.
Momo held a hand to her chest with an aghast expression, "The thought of more of those things existing is a chilling thought." She said, "One of those creatures was bad enough, but knowing that there's now more of them out there?" she asked rhetorically before shaking her head. Jiro reached over and patted her friend on the shoulder consolingly as she looked up at Mako, "Still, the fact that you were able to defeat it shows how far you've come Mako." She complimented.
Kaminari nodded with a grin, "Hell yeah man! You've leveled up, think you might be strong as your old man yet?" he asked, resulting in Jiro sending him a dumbfounded look for his lack of tact in the question.
The teen in question pursed his lips together, "I don't think so, I still got a ways to go before I can say I'm that strong." He admitted lowly.
Jiro turned and smacked Kaminari in the shoulder, "Gah! Sorry." The electric user apologized, "I didn't mean to drag up bad memories dude."
Mako shook his head while he leaned on one of the nearby desks, "Your fine, fair question. I mean all I can do is keep doing work for the GDA and getting stronger in the meantime. I actually am going to fly out to I-Island today to get some working out done." He admitted, not having used the machine at their facilities since his internships began. Jiro and Momo's faces lit up while Kaminari choked on….well nothing, Mako looked at them strangely, "What?"
"Dude you just….admitted to it…." Kaminari said as he looked away, suddenly not being able to look Mako in the eye.
Momo's face was red as a tomato and Jiro's wasn't too far, "Mako that's-! That's not appropriate to discuss in school!" she hissed out scandalously, not wanting to yell at him and give attention to the very private details he revealed.
The viltrumite blinked owlishly, "What?" he asked.
Jiro's earphone jabbed him in the side, "She's talking about you bragging about getting it on with Melissa!" she hissed out.
"WHAT?!" Mako barked out, "No! No I mean I have special equipment over there!" he explained, Momo looked about ready to faint, "I can't work out here because if I'll eventually get too used to lifting whatever weights we have here up. They have special weights that use magnets to help me push myself." He explained more clearly.
The trio's expressions shifted to sheepish ones, "Oh! O-Of course!" Momo exclaimed.
The viltrumite shook his head, "I expected that thinking from Kaminari but you Momo?" he shook his head, "For shame." He said teasingly, the vice president of the class's face turning bright red before her head fell into her hands while Jiro patted her shoulder. "But seriously, I still got a ways to go before I'm close to my dad's strength." He said, looking down at his hand as he clenched it into a fist.
"Well you were strong enough to take down the hero killer! That's nothing to sneeze at!" Kaminari praised. The electric user was met with his classmates giving him deadpanned expressions from his lack of tact, "What? Oh! Ohhh right." he hissed out, glancing over at Iida, Todoroki, and Midoriya, "Sorry guys, I wasn't thinking," he apologized.
Iida raised his hand, that was still wrapped in bangades from his surgery, "It's fine Kaminari, I understand. And I'm glad he's captured as well, don't feel as though you need to walk around eggshells regarding him." The class rep replied understandingly with a small smile, appreciating the concern shown for him.
After homeroom and the other standard classes they had, Class 1A was in for a surprise for their hero course when All Might hosted a simple speed exercise, where the students had to navigate through a industrial zone to reach All Might who was a random location in each instance. Splitting up into groups, Mako easily secured first place for his group with his ability to fly, though Uraraka, Todoroki, and Mineta each tried their best. He also saw that Izuku had improved in his mobility as well when he also was the first to arrive in his exercise.
After everyone completed the exercise in little over an hour, the class returned to the locker room to change into their school uniforms, Mako spending time having a surprising debate with Mineta about wearing his hero costume underneath his regular clothes outside of school. "Look man, yes I could just have my costume in my bag, but that means I have to find somewhere to strip down to change into my costume! I'm not comfortable with that." He admitted to the grape haired teen as they walked into their classroom.
The shorter boy groaned, "Who cares? Your doing it at super speed, I mean is it technically flashing if no one sees you do it?" he asked.
"Yes." Mako, Jiro, Mina, and Tooru said all at once.
He then pointed at Tooru, "Oh that's hypocritical! Your hero costume is just you being naked! You technically flash everyone by that logic." He argued.
The girls and Mako stared at him before they all looked at Tooru, the neck of the girl's shirt looking around, "That's not-! I mean…look the thing is….." she tried to argue.
"I mean…..hate to say it, but he's got a point girl." Mina said, patting the invisible girl on the shoulder.
Mako groaned as he pinched the bridge of his nose, "This is why I don't talk to you man, it ends up with TMI. Every time." He said before walking back to his seat.
"I'm just saying I'd rather change in an alleyway instead of wrinkling my costume underneath my clothes." The grape haired boy replied as the door opened and Aizawa entered the room. Stepping inside, everyone was instantly in their seats. The teacher let out a grunt of satisfaction to his class before walkng up to the podium.
"So as I'm sure your all aware, summer vacation is close at hand. Of course it would be completely irrational for everyone here to take a whole month off." He started. Mako internally groaned, he crossed his fingers underneath the desk and hoped that there wouldn't be some sort of summer class they needed to do. "You'll be doing a summer training camp in the woods."
The entire mood of the class shifted from nervous to elated at the drop of a hat, Mako however was somewhat apathetic, he and Melissa made plans to go to I-Island for the expo during the summer. Well hopefully I can do both. He thought before smiling a little, But a camping trip with the class does sound nice. He added mentally. We really don't geta chance to all hang out together. This could be fun!
"However." Aizawa interrupted the ruckus the class was making with a flash of his quirk. "Anyone who doesn't pass the upcoming final exams is in for summer school hell." He threatened, making the entire class's mood shift back to anxiousness.
Shit…maybe I'll get lucky and called away for finals? He thought hopefully before slouching in his seat. Oh who am I kidding? I'll probably have to pull double duty knowing my luck….then again I probably won't be the only one. He thought, looking over at Kaminari who looked pale and Uraraka who seemed nervous about it as well. In fact their expressions made a sudden idea come to Mako's mind that he was surprised that Iida didn't suggest right off the bat.
"A study group?" Momo and Iida asked Mako who stood before them both.
He nodded, "Yeah, I mean I think it would be a good idea. We can all meet up after class a few days a week, study for a few hours, find out if there's anything we're struggling with, and help each other out." He explained to the main and vice class representatives after the final bell had rung for the day. The class would usually loiter around the room for a while to discuss various topics, and Mako decided to take his idea to the two in charge of their class activities.
Momo cupped her chin in contemplation, "You think that our classmates are in that dire need of help?" she asked with concern.
Mako shook his head, "No, no, I mean I can't speak for everyone but I know for a fact that some of the guys here have had a harder time learning English then I have. So if they have a problem then I can help them, and someone else can help me with like, geography." He explained, looking between the two of them. Iida pursed his lips together, "Is it that bad an idea?" he asked.
Iida shook his head rapidly, "Oh no not at all! But you have to consider logistics Mako, our class contains twenty of us, and there's not many public facilities that we can study in environment that is suited for that." He explained before looing back across the room, "The facilities of U.A. close an hour from now, and while the library would suit our needs we would need special permission from our teachers to use it, and continually using it might not be fair to the other classes here." He reasoned.
Mako rubbed the back of his head, "Yeah I didn't think of that…but you know you might have just given me another idea." He said, reaching into his pocket and pulling out his phone and sending a message to his mom.
Mako: Hey mom, we got exams coming up and I'm trying to get everyone in class to study, is it ok if I bring them over to do it?
Mom: Sure honey! I'll stay out of your guys' way. But your responsible for food.
Mako: Thanks Mom, your awesome!
"Alright, fixed. We can study at my place." Mako said happily, making the two students blink at him in surprise at how quickly he got a solution to the problem. "I mean I got room, and I'll provide the food and stuff." He explained. Momo and Iida looked at one another before she shrugged her shoulders, not seeing any real problem with it.
"Alright then." Iida said with a smile before standing up, "Attention class! I have an announcement!" he said to the other students who looked over towards him. "Due to the upcoming exams, our classmate Mako has suggested that we all partake in a group study session in order to better prepare ourselves for the upcoming exams at the end of June! He has even offered that we can meet at his home after school as a place where we can study." He said, gesturing to his friend in question who sheepishly rubbed the back of his head from being put in the spotlight.
Sero, Mina, and Kaminari rushed over to him, "REALLY!?"
"We're not worthy your kindness!" Sero wailed happily.
"You're super solid Mako! And I mean that metaphorically but also literally!" Mina said in gratitude.
Mako smiled, "Thanks but honestly I kind of need help catching up as well." He admitted to the three.
While Mako Metuki tends to affairs of the scholarly nature, we now shall turn our attention to the stars, for in deep space we find on his path to his home planet of Talescrea, Allen the Alien! His long journey from Earth to his home began not soon after encountering Mako Metuki on the moon of his home planet Earth, where he learned the startling truth about not only the hero known as Invincible, but also the status of one of the fierce Viltrumites that the very Coalition of Planets was formed to battle against!
But unlike his last trip back home, he was not lucky enough to come across a passing ship that chould relay his message to his home, so he instead has had to fly back on his own. This leaving him with time to reflect on his humble origins of his people and himself…..a tale that would rival deep space itself in cold and harshness.
The lives of his people on his home planet of Unopa ended the day the Viltrumite invaded, like a plague of biblical proportions they swept across and conquered their planet within a matter of days. However the Unopans were able to escape their planet, abandoning it as the Viltumites ravaged and eventually destroyed the planet beyond the point of habitability.
To ensure their race's survival, breeding camps were formed on various outposts, offspring were produced in a factory environment resulting in the complete breakdown of family structure and social behavior in the new Unopan society.
Impressed with their ability to escape the Viltrumite empire, the Coalition of Planets invited them to join their ranks. Once they had been inducted into the Coalition, a plain was brought to the council of representatives. The Unopan leader had devised a method of genetic enhancement that might engineer a new breed of their species, strong enough to withstand a Viltrumite Invasion. And in their desperation to find a way to combat the ever growing empire, the plan was approved immediately.
For years the Unopan government experimented on unborn fetuses….and the results were a complete failure. Some of the children having deformities of the mind and body, but it wasn't until Allen was born, the first and only subject to survive the tests, the only success. And from that day forth he was taught to be the greatest warrior the Unopans had ever seen.
And for a time it seemed to be a complete success, even before entering adulthood, no one Allen faced in combat could not stand a chance. Upon reaching adulthood he was immediately sent out to face his first vltumite….it did not go well. While Allen was strong in comparison to many things in the universe, he still did not match up to viltrumites. And thus the program that birthed Allen was deemed a failure.
But it wasn't a complete loss, upon his recovery, the Coalition found a new task for Allen, being a Champion Evaluation Officer, and headed out into the cosmos in search of beings strong enough to defeat him and report their existence to the Coalition in the hope that if they could defeat him, then they might be powerful enough to defeat a viltrumite.
This of course would lead Allen to Earth where he would battle the Viltrumite Nolan Grayson for many years…..not knowing he was a viltrumite until his offspring Mako would inform him of both his heritage as well as Nolan's abandonment of the Viltrumite empire. But that was a story already told, instead we focus on the story unfolding now, of Allen the Alien returning home.
Being the home of the Coalition of Planets, Talescra was one of the most populated planets in the galaxy, Allen could seen hundrends of thousands of ships flying across the skyline as he entered it's atmosphere, the city brenath him spanning for thousands of miles across the surface of the world with the central city being his destination. As he lfew through traffic on his way back to base, he smiled and glanced around while he flew, while his job with the Coalition took him off world for most of the year, it made coming home something that he deeply cherished.
Approaching the tallest spire that was the headquarters of the Coalition, finding a small and unoccupied terrance, he landed on the building and quickly rushed inside at a brisk jog. "Gotta get to the meeting hall." He said to himself as he jogged down the hallway, passing a few of the coalition security people in their red and black uniforms. Soon he came upon a pair of large doors with a hand pad next to it with a pair of guards. "Hey guys." he greeted as he pressed his hand to the black pad, a holographic display of his head came up before scanning his face for confirmation of his identity.
The doors slid open and he walked inside the great hall, lining the walls to either side of him were delegates from each world in the Coalition sitting at their designated desks, a few of the seats were empty, such as the Galderians who they last heard were engaged in conflict with one of the species the Viltrumites had subjugated into their service. At the end of the hall on his higher desk and chair then the others was Thadeus.
Thadeus looked similar to the humans of Earth, a bipedal body that was covered in long beige robes, with two arms, eyes, ears, he even had hair in the same places that humans did. The long white beard he had went up around the sides of his head, the man saw Allen and smiled kindly to him, "Allen of Unopa, as soon as we registered you entering the sector we called this meeting to order. After your last transmission to us, we feared you might not return to us from Earth." He said with concern as Allen approached the podium in the center of the room.
"Forgive me for the lack of communication great Thadeus, but the news I bring is something I didn't want to risk leaking and possibly falling to Viltrumite ears. I have some news that I believe will bring our people great hope." He said with a smile. And so be began his tale of his journey to Earth, and his meeting with the half-viltrumite Mako Metuki, and more interestingly the story of Nolan, the first Viltrumite to have reportedly abandon his post to the empire.
A tale that tells all in attendance that there is hope against the Viltrumite Empire, "Allen if what you say is true, this could change the tide of our conflict." Thadeus said hopefully. "If one Viltrumite has abandoned his post, it's reasonable enough to assume he might not be the only one."
"Hold for a moment Thadeus." An alien with a long face and pink skin countered, "We cannot make such assumptions, this is the first report of such a thing happening in the Viltrumite Empire, if it's true then while it's hopeful, two Viltrumites who oppose the Empire is little against the horde of warriors that stand against us." They reasoned.
"That's assuming that their numbers are greater than our own. The fact that Viltrumites have been using other alien races like the Kresh to conquer planets in their stead shows that there might be more going on that we do not see. We know so little of the inner workings of the Viltumite Empire after all." Another delegate countered.
Thadeus held up a hand, "Both excellent points. We don't know the current structure of the Viltrumite Empire, and most of what we do know is rumor and hearsay." He said thoughrfully as he stroked his beard in contemplation. "But I think the one course of action we can agree on is the seeking out of these rouge Viltrumites. If we can sway them to our cause, then we might not only gain manpower to stand against the empire, but information critical to it's downfall." The leader of the Coalition reasoned. The others in attendance murmured amongst themselves in mixed agreement.
"The one called Mako, the offspring born on earth, is sympathetic to our cause. He has pledged to stand with us as long as it prevents his world from falling to the empire" Allen informed.
Thadeus nodded in understanding, "Very well, we have much to discuss, I hereby call this meeting of the Coalition Adjourned." He said, slamming his palm onto a spot on his desk which rung out across the room. As the various races of aliens migrated from their seats, Thadeus made his way down to the floor and over to Allen, giving the Unopan a smile before pulling him into a friendly embrace, "This is astounding news Allen." He said, the orange alien smiling as he patted his oldest friend on the back and pulled away.
"I'm just happy that we found out about this. If Mako and his father aren't the only Viltrumites who have defected from the cause? This could change the entire war." He said hopefully as they walked out of the council hall together.
Thadeus nodded, "I can't thank you enough for your service Allen, you've gone above and beyond getting this information. I can't tell you how concerned we were when you decided to return to earth instead of here." He explained.
Allen smiled fondly, "Thadeus that means a lot and I…..oh…." he suddenly said, his pupil dilating as he remembered something important. "…..my girlfriend is going to KILL me."
Thadeus hummed as he patted his friend's shoulder, "Oh yes Telia…she's called a few times…I'll call you when we need you." He said with a small smirk.
"If I'm still alive you mean." Allen bemoaned.
"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU ALLEN!" The alien in question winced as his girlfriend screeched at his sudden appearance at her apartment. "Do you know how worried I was?! I haven't heard from you in months! And the last thing I hear is that you're going to a planet with a Viltrumite on it!" she admonished him, pointing one of the six fingers on her hand at him accusingly while he bowed his head. "Well?! Anything to say for yourself?" she asked.
Allen looked up to his girlfriend, Telia was another bipedal alien like him, she had twice the number of digits that he had on her hands and feet, and two eyes, but that was the biggest difference between their races. While he had bright orange skin, she had light blue, his head was smooth, she had dark red lekku that acted similar to a hairline. The only thing their races had in common was the lack of a….nose he believed it was called. "….I missed you so much." He said earnestly.
Telia's frown wavered before she sighed, "I missed you too…..but I'm till pissed at you." She said as she walked over to him and embraced him. "You big lummox." She chided as he returned the embrace, Allen relaxing as his large arms engulfed her smaller frame in him. "You owe me dinner." She decided.
"Completely fair." Allen said, his eye looking up. "And…..we could do that….thing you like to do until then." He offered.
Telia pulled back and looked at him, fighting the urge to roll her eyes, "Sex Allen. The word your looking for is sex." She chided lightly.
"I still don't understand it. I mean it's enjoyable but we can just reproduce using a combination of our reproductive materials." Allen admitted.
Telia groaned, "God damn your people for making you all test tube babies. And don't ever say…..that term ever again, please." She said as she led him to the bedroom, Allen taking off his coat and dropping it on the floor.
Hours later after the more…..carnal related reunion of Allen and his beloved Telia, the couple did as Allen promised and attended a restaurant within orbit of the planet Talescra. Inside the space station at their usual booth, the couple ate quite differently, Telia taking modest bites out of the pink creature's head that she had ordered while Allen scarfed down the tray of bacteria shaped food known as Kanzlok, the best food in the entire universe…..despite the looks of terror on their small faces.
"Oh man I didn't realize how much I missed fresh Kanzlok." He said as he swallowed the handful the he had scooped out, one of them landing on the small protrusion of his head that was an ear. Telia reached over and plucked it off before eating it, "I can't think of anything I miss more." He said dreamily, earning a sharp job to his side. "Oh you know I mean you too!" he chided.
"You were more excited to come here then into my bedroom, that doesn't really support your claim." She replied teasingly.
Allen looked down at his food and pushed it aside, "Listen….I know that you like doing that. And I enjoy it too but…..I don't love you because of that….I love you for you." He said earnestly. Telia smiled at him before looking way, her cheeks warming a little.
"I know…and I'm sorry, it's just….we express our love that way. And I know you don't really feel it like that. And that's fine Allen, I love you for you are." She said, laying her hand on his shoulder and smiling at him. The larger alien smiled down at her as well, "Listen….I've been thinking…..I know you and your missions take you away for a while, I accept that…..but maybe instead of coming home to your girlfriend….you might come home to your wi-"
KRA-BOOM!
Allen's world was spinning, the fist embedded into his back barely registered as his thoughts were squarely on Telia, did she survive the attack? But if he was more aware of the fact that a Viltrumite was attacking him, he would be more focused on his own safety.
Throwing his elbow back instinctually, it felt like he hit solid rock, the following punch to hs back sent him flying forward through space before another Viltrumite caught him by the throat. Opening his eye, he saw that the two looked like Viltrumites to a T, humanoid males with hair over their lips. One of them with black hair that peaked out towards the front of his head, the other with more wavy brown hair. An third one joined as well, hovering behind him, with darker kin and no hair atop his head save for the black mustache he had.
"Unopan, you will tell us everything you know about the Viltumite you encountered on Earth. Do you even know if he was a Vltrumite? And are you sure he sired a child? And abandoned his post? Or is this just some false hope you bring to your people?" one of them asked him mentally.
Blood coughed out of Allen's mouth, "I don't know about any place called…Earth is it? You sure it's not Urath?" he asked flippantly.
The Vltrumite responded with a quick shot to his ribs, snapping four of them like twigs, "GUH….well if your this worried about it, sounds like your troops aren't as loyal as you think. Bad news for you guys. Not so much for us." He defiantly thought with a glare.
The one with black hair holding him by the neck rolled his eyes in annoyance, "Alright you primitive lifeform. What did he look like? This Viltrumite?" he asked skeptically.
Allen smirked, "You know…two eyes…mustache. You Biclops all look the same to me." he insulted.
The one holding him cracked him across the face, spewing his teeth out into space, the other beside him slammed his fist into his gut once again, this time cracking his remaining ribs before the black haired one flew over and with a right cross, stuck Allen the Alien with such strength his eyeball popped out of his skull, only tethered to his head by the nerve connecting to his orbital.
Another punch to the face sent blood spewing from the aliens moth into space, the bald Viltrumite grabbed him by the leg as he was about to pass by, lifting Allen over his head before slamming his back down over his knee, snapping his spine. He tossed Allen to his compatriot, who drove his fast through Allen's guts and out the other side, before the brown haired one finally grabbed his arm and with his other hand flat, swiped up and chopped through it like a blade through meat.
The three Viltrumites looked over their handiwork for but a brief moment before flying off away from the planet, in space above his home, Allen the alien's blood littered the stars, his arm floating off while his eye hung from his eye socket.
Telia was shaking in her seat outside Allen's room at the hospital. He had been recovered soon after the Viltrumites left, she and the rest of the people inside the restaurant had been evacuated but once she called Thadeus he managed to get her past all the red tape that was needed and got her to the hospital where Allen was being treated by the best that Talescra had to offer. A shadow passed over her and she looked up to see a sorrowful Thadeus, "Is-Is he…." She swallowed, not wanting to even utter the words.
"He wil live….but he was very lucky." He said, sitting beside her and putting a hand on her shoulder. "His arm was reattached, as well as his eye, and his internal organs were put back into place. His bones are reconnected and are healing." He said, standing up and guiding her to his room. Inside the dark room, Allen was inside a metal cade that covered his entire body save for his head, a metallic mask over his mouth that would provide him with food needed while he recovers.
Telia swallowed before walking over and placing her hand on the iron coffin, "….Thadeus how did this happen?" she asked, looking over at him with tears in her eyes.
The man looked at the door, quickly walking over he closed it before reaching into his robe pocket and retrieving a device the size of a small stone and pressing a button, a green light coming on. "A jamming device." He explained, "Allen informed the Coalition of a Viltrumite who has abandoned the cause." He said, making her eyes widen, "He reported this to us hours ago, but for the Viltrumites to attack him now? It cannot be a coincidence….which means only one thing….there is a mole in the Coalition of planets." He revealed.
"Oh god…who!?" Telia asked with rage in her eyes, "Who did this to us? Tell me and I'll-" she said, raising her fists in anger.
Thadeus took them and lowered them, "I do not know, it could be at any level of government. But until they are found, no one is safe. The very Coalition could be in jeopardy." He said direly before turning to Allen. "As soon as Allen recovers, he will no longer report to the head Council. He will report directly to me, and false reports will be fed to the council."
Telia swallowed, "Thadeus…..this serious…..isn't it?"
He looked at her with closed eyes, "This could very well be the beginning of the end." He admitted.
AN: Didn't see this coming did you? Any of you? XD
I wanted to get this up on Christmas as a little present but the timing unfortunately didn't really work out for me. And also it's a little shorter then usual but this packs a lot of punch to it..,,,no pun intended. Speaking of Christmas I finally sat down and read the entire Batman No Man's Land comic book event, one of the longest in depth events I think I've ever read and totally gives me a billion ideas for fanfics that I probably will end up never doing. Now onto the Tom King run.
Admittedly it's kind of weird to go from MHA High school shinanigans to space politics but it weirdly works? I think so at least.
Most of this chapter is based off the issue of the same name where we cut away from Mark getting some nookie and see what Allen is up to. Complete with Robert Kirkman's best Stan Lee impression in narration that I tried to emulate here.
Anyway Invinciheads, onto reviews!
Woolffrankie. 14: I don't know, the quirks are all based on Human DNA presumably, I don't think it can just be fused together, there needs to be some sort of compatibility on some level. We never see anything like that in the comics, all we know are that Viltrumites are very compatible genetically with humans. So I think the question then becomes is AFO or Shigaraki even human at this point? Or are they too far removed to even be compatible with Viltrumite DNA.
And I think it's more like the Mullers are independents, I mean AFO doesn't have a beat on all crime in the world or anything.
KaijuEMperor: Thanks, and also…ok comic book spoilers, your totally right, but I also think that some people go off the show's visualation of powers instead of the comics. Like I remember someone saying that Omni Man can fly faster then the speed of light. Which is just plain wrong because we never see anything like that in the show or comic. People just assume that because he's a superman allegory he's as strong as superman. But I also keep in mind that the Guardians of the Globe almost beat Omni Man, and in another timeline they actually do take him down. So they're tough, but not impossible to stop.
Guest 1: Thanks! Now I can start looking at full time jobs instead of stocking at a hardware store. Hopefully I'll be animating games sometime soon…..reletively speaking.
Fanfictioner8: I mean I wouldn't say it's plot armor, I mean Kirkman is also he guy who kills characters off every other month in the Walking Dead, so I think he applies the logic of, Mark is constantly getting stronger because of his superheroics and that's how he manages to survive. And yeah the Guardians could definitely beat Nolan, in the comics he takes them out quick because of that, and we see in the show that even when caught off guard they nearly take him down. Imagine if they planned for it?
Guest 2: Yeah gee, that's kind of sus isn't it? And yeah if people are just going to drag up a story that's been abandoned for years now and just shit talk me, I'm just going to ignore them.
And thanks dude, I will!
Sarcasam Sage 626: I actually went back in the Manga to see if there's any mention of prison breaks or anything and I think the only place that's never had a breakout is Tartarus, and that's a supermax prison so not everyone is going there.
The fight was a little hard because my mind kept going back to the first one were the simple solution would just to do what he did last time. But that would just be boring. So instead I went with the 'Ok if that didn't work, what would Mako do that might work?' mentality.
I really like writing scenes like the conversation between Mirko and Invincible, give the characters little quirks that gives them some more personality that we don't get in the series. And I didn't want to do the obvious joke of 'Oh Mirko likes Carrot Cake' because we've probably all seen that a million times.
And yeah Mako and Izuku get along for a lot of reasons, not just because they're both nerds but they both had similar upbringings, they both had a hero in their lives they wanted to emulate, in fact when I was planning this fic out I considered just making Izuku Invincible. But the more I went into it the more I realized just how DIFFERENT Izuku would turn out after going through what Mako does.
And Stain is…hard. He's an important character in the story of MHA, he's the first one who gives us a look at the flaws in the system of heroes that we have. And I think Mako is listening to his points, but it's also coming from a guy who kills people and he dismisses it because of that. I actually had to re-write that entire conversation because when I got done with it the first time I realized that I was writing Mako from near the end of the series instead of who he is now. Those are two different conversations.
And yeah adding toga earlier on and making her obsessed with Mako was just a lightbulb moment that turned into a 'OH THIS IS GOLD' moment while I was writing it. I have to say though, that whole sequence is based on one from the fanfic 'Green Tea Rescue' by ss3dj. It's one of my favorite ongoing fanfics on here and is part of what inspired me to write this. But Toga will have a very interesting role in this story going forward.
And I had that same thought while writing this, the whole theme of MHA and how it relates to invincible, I won't say much here but I will say that Mako will learn a thing or two about listening to villains more.
And honestly the whole comic book store segment was kind of me balking at Spider-Man editorial. It sucks right now and I can't understand how some people are enjoying it. And apparently I'm not the only one. This is why I like older comics more now, editors didn't screw with the story.
