The counselors, along with Zoe and Thalia, convened at the reservoir. The lights of the city were blinking on at twilight.
"The Titan army has crossed the Harlem River," Zoe said, "One of our scouts saw them, it is massive."
"We'll hold them at the park," Percy said. "Grover, you ready?"
He nodded. "As ready as we'll ever be. If my nature spirits can stop them anywhere, this is the place."
"Yes, we will!" said another voice. A very old, fat satyr pushed through the crowd, stumbling over his own spear. He was dressed in wood-bark armor that only covered half of his belly.
"Leneus?"
"Oh great, its the fat goat." Valen muttered.
Thankfully, Leneus didn't hear him. "Don't act so surprised," he huffed. "I am a leader of the Council, and you did tell me to find Grover. Well, I found him, and I'm not going to let a mere outcast lead the satyrs without my help!"
Behind Leneus's back, Grover made gagging motions, but the old satyr grinned like he was the savior of the day. "Never fear! We'll show those Titans!"
Percy forced himself to keep a straight face, "Um . . . yeah. Well, Grover, you won't be alone. Annabeth and the Athena cabin will make their stand here. And me, and,"
Zoe nodded, "The hunters shall aid you."
"That leaves the rest of us to cover the other bridges," Valen said, taking over, "You know which bridge your cabin is assigned to."
The counselors nodded collectively. "Connor, Travis, take the entire Hermes cabin to the Manhattan bridge, and leave Theron and Aricia here, they can help against the main force. Silena, and Katie, cover the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel."
"Wait a minute," Percy interrupted, "What about the Queens-Midtown tunnel?"
"Leave that to me."
Percy frowned, "Valen, even for you that's too much."
"Who said I'll fight them alone?" He retorted.
"Then-"
"Percy, don't worry about me, and take positions." Valen said, cutting him off.
Percy sighed, "Fine, let's do this. Good hunting everybody."
As the meeting adjourned, Valen zeroed in on Silena, making sure she was alone before calling out to her.
"Silena," He called, walking up to her."
"Valen? Did you need anything?"
Valen nodded, "Tell Kronos to target the Brooklyn-Battery tunnel, tell him it's our weakest link."
Silena glanced around for any eavesdroppers before answering, "Are you sure?"
"Yes, find a secluded space and contact him as soon as you can." He said, at least that way the others had a better chance.
Silena nodded, "Alright,"
Theron Cirillo POV :
We heard the army before we saw it. The noise was like a cannon barrage combined with a football stadium crowd—like every Patriots fan in New England was charging us with bazookas.
At the north end of the reservoir, the enemy vanguard broke through the woods—a warrior in golden armor leading a battalion of giants with huge bronze axes. Hundreds of other monsters poured out behind them.
"Positions!" The blond girl, Annabeth, yelled.
Her cabinmates scrambled. The idea was to make the enemy army break around the reservoir. To get to us, they'd have to follow the trails, which meant they'd be marching in narrow columns on either side of the water.
I assumed Percy Jackson's plan included flooding them from both sides.
At first, the plan seemed to work. The enemy divided and streamed toward us along the shore. When they were halfway across, our defenses kicked in. The jogging trail erupted in Greek fire, incinerating many of the monsters instantly. Others flailed around, engulfed in green flames.
Athena campers threw grappling hooks around the largest giants and pulled them to the ground. In the woods on the right, the Hunters sent a volley of silver arrows into the enemy line, destroying twenty or thirty dracaenae, but more marched behind them. A bolt of lightning crackled out of the sky and fried a giant to ashes.
Grover raised his pipes and played a quick tune. A roar went up from the woods on both sides as every tree, rock, and bush seemed to sprout a spirit. Dryads and satyrs raised their clubs and charged. The trees wrapped around the monsters, strangling them. Grass grew around the feet of the enemy archers. Stones flew up and hit dracaenae in their faces.
Percy raised his arms and the water floated up from the reservoirs, but instead of crashing down on the monsters and sweeping them away, it began changing shape midair as all kinds of bladed weapons were molded out of water. He let his arms drop, and the water shot down, skewering, slashing, and cutting open dozens of monsters at one go.
I stood in awe, taking a moment to understand what had just happened. The monster army had lost a major chunk of it.
But it was still slogging forward, uncaring for their fallen brethren, and for some reason that upset me.
A golden glint caught my eye, and I noticed the Titan charging toward us, walking over the top of the lake.
A Greek firebomb exploded right on top of him, but he raised his palm and sucked the flames out of the air.
"Hyperion," Annabeth said in awe. "The lord of light. Titan of the east."
"Bad?" Percy guessed.
"Next to Atlas, he's the greatest Titan warrior. In the old days, four Titans controlled the four corners of the world. Hyperion was the east—the most powerful. He was the father of Helios, the first sun god."
I gulped, what made Valen think I could help here? Fighting a Titan was totally beyond me!
"I'll keep him busy," Percy promised.
"Percy, even you can't—"
"Just keep our forces together."
But then, the Titan stopped, staring at me with a strange glint in his eyes. His mouth opened in surprise once, before he closed it, and flashed right in front of me.
"What the-?!"
"How are you alive?" He demanded, "You faded, your sigil in Orthys was destroyed."
"What?" I stepped back, I did not want to piss this guy off. "What are you even talking about?"
Hyperion narrowed his eyes, "You do not remember, are you even the same person?"
"Uh…"
"You could have stolen her essence, or perhaps she had assigned you as her heir before fading." Hyperion mused.
The Titan tensed suddenly, raising his arm in a split second and catching the water trident before it could hit his face. He glanced at Percy, annoyed.
He sighed, grabbing my shoulder, "Close your eyes."
The last thing I heard was Aricia yelling my name before light engulfed us. And even though I had closed my eyelids, it felt like my eyes had burnt off
"Well, well, well," A sinister voice spoke, it sounded like knives on concrete, "Care to explain, Hyperion?"
The Titan bowed, "I believe we may have found one of our faded brethren."
Kronos sat forward, suddenly interested in me, "Oh? And which one is this?"
Hyperion hesitated, "I…I think he's one of mine lord."
"Hmm," Kronos narrowed his eyes, and I felt shivers go down my spine.

3rd Person POV :
The Queens-Midtown tunnel shook under the force of the monster army approaching, Laestrygonian Giants, Dracaenae, and even some Cyclops stomped across it.
Valen sighed, summoning Stormguard as he dragged its tip across the asphalt. Kronos really did send a lot of monsters his way.
Some of the monsters began laughing at the absurdity of it, one lone demigod could not possibly beat their army.
Valen kept walking, unfazed by their mocking, and his shadow began to grow and spread across the tunnel. Ominous pairs of red eyes flickered open in the shadow, and it began stretching, like black goo rising from the ground.
He smirked, summoning Shadeslayer, imbuing Stornguards lightning into it, and hurled it at the monster army at breakneck speeds.
The entire tunnel shook as the front of the army exploded in concrete and lightning. As the last hellhound escaped into the world of the living, Valen lunged forward, Stormguard crackling violently with electricity as he entered the fray.
And chaos ensued, with his hellhounds acting as backup, Valen didn't have much issue fighting the monster army yet, and he could see it thinning. But he could not relax, for he could feel the pressure of a Titan approaching.
Valen gulped, the last time he had fought a deity ended up with him stabbed through the chest. He held his arm up, summoning his polearm back to him, and awaited the Titans arrival.
A shiver went down his spine, and he shadow traveled away on reflex. The ground he was standing on just moments before was gone, replaced by gravel so fine it resembled sand. Though he knew it was a titan, he could not see who it was.
His vision inverted, and the world went monochrome. He could see the dark husks of the monster army a few meters away, but what caught his eye the most was the massive blue-white soul, spread around thin, almost like it was gaseous. And it was approaching him rapidly.
He acted quickly, raising a wall of earth between him and his adversary, adding a layer of solid shadows just to be safe.
The titan shattered the wall in a moment, hitting Valen with such intensity that he was sent flying dozens of meters back. He hit the ground with a painful thud, gasping for air.
He groaned, rolling over to help himself up, Maybe I should call Melinoe.
He winced, holding his arm over his chest, he had definitely cracked a rib right there. His robe had been shredded, and only the lower half remained intact. He was sporting minor cuts all over his torso. He shuddered to think what would have happened if he hadn't put up the wall.
He looked ahead, he could see the Titan's soul heading his way again, its essence spread far apart to cover the entire tunnel.
He warped once again as it got closer, blinking back to existence behind the entity. He held his arm out, and the tunnel began shaking, he could sense the metal framework of the tunnel responding to his wishes, creaking and groaning as it deformed. And as the entity turned around to charge again, the tunnel walls cracked and fell right on top of him, blocking the way.
Unfortunately for him, however, the Titan wasn't playing around, and the boulders blocking the tunnel shattered into gravel.
Valen stepped back, the Titan had returned to its physical form. Long white hair fell to his back, they looked like clouds drifting in the sky. His eyes were pure white, no iris, no pupil, just plain white.
"Who are you?" Valen asked, regaining his confidence.
The Titan remained expressionless, "Lelantos," He answered simply.
"Of course, Titan of the wind and unseen." Valen muttered, "Can we settle this like civilized men and not fight?"
Lelantos replied by disappearing from Valen's vision. His eyes widened, and he shot up from the ground as fast as he could, barely avoiding the Titan's attack.
The tunnel began creaking, his earlier attack had weakened it too much, and the water pressure from outside had begun to seep through. An idea formed in Valen's mind, and a grin made its way to his face.
"Hey Lelantos," He called, casting his will over the weakened part of the tunnel, "I hope you can swim."
And as the tunnel collapsed, and water broke through, Valen shadow traveled outside to safety.
He let out a heavy sigh, even for a Titan, that would be a strong blow. He had some time to rest before he came back.
"Did you really think that would stop me?"
Valen's eyes widened, but before he could react, the Titan grabbed him by the back of his neck and shot off into the sky.
Up in the clouds, Lelantos hurled Valen forward, and the winds coalesced around his hands. Valen barely had time to see before he drove his fist into his abdomen, throwing him further away, and lacerating his torso even further.
The air was knocked out of Valen's lungs, he began seeing dots in his vision. He could not die there, he had to think of a way out. He had been able to Glance at the Titan, and he remembered seeing a lot of gold. It could only mean that he was injured heavily.
As his vision cleared, he saw what Lelantos had been doing, and his heart fell. The Titan had a mini tornado hovering above him, like a drill waiting to rend him to pieces.
Valen acted rashly, summoning his spear back to him, and lunged at him. But Lelantos caught it in his hand, having grabbed the area between the two blades.
"Pathetic," He said, and the wind that flowed out of his palm shattered the bident. It was as if Valen was watching it in slow motion, he could see the razor-like wind tearing through the shaft and the blades.
The resulting explosion that occurred surprised both Valen and the Titan. What should have been the shattering of a simple Stygian Iron weapon, seemed to be more on par with an anti-aircraft missile. But instead of fire and shrapnel, it was filled with concentrated shadows and hellfire, all of which were absorbed by Valen, and he could feel his body healing.
Lelantos did not waste any more time, and the tornado shot forward. Valen crossed his arms, and the shattered Bident came to him, the fragments forming a perfect shield before him.
But he was still fighting a Titan, and although he had blocked the hit, he couldn't negate all the force behind it and shot downwards into the water.
Lelantos was quick to follow, diving in the water after him, and while Valen was still recovering, grabbed his throat, and pushed him deeper underwater.
Valen grabbed his hands, trying to push them away, but the strength of a Titan was nothing to scoff at. He grit his teeth, he had begun seeing dark spots in his vision again.
He released his hands, alighting his palms with Hellfire, and grabbed Lelantos' face, pushing more and more energy into the fire every second. His skin began blistering, and Valen was certain that if they were above ground, he would have smelled burnt flesh.
In the end, Lelantos let go, he could not handle the heat any longer, and Valen could see the melted flesh over his cheeks, showing his teeth, making him look creepier.
He had received a lot of energy from his bident breaking, so he thought of something he would never be able to do normally. He spread his arms, feeling the two halves of the Queens-Midtown tunnel, and bending them to his will.
Lelantos glared at him, indescribable rage visible in his eyes, he was sure the Titan would not wait for him to finish.
Melinoe, He called out, I could use some help here.
Say no more little brother. He heard her voice clearly in his head, and a moment later phantom hands materialized in the water, dozens of them grabbing onto the Titan.
"!" He looked alert, trying to tear off the constructs, but with every hand he tore off two more took their place.
Valen smirked smugly, and the sound of metal and concrete tearing reached them. Lelantos seemed to have realized his plan as he began to thrash around wildly, trying to swim up to land like a madman.
Good, he's scared. That was all the confirmation Valen needed. He closed his fists, solidifying his grip on the broken parts of the tunnel, and then he pulled.
And in an instant, the two massive slabs of concrete crashed into Lelantos. Valen had them implode once again for good measure before he let go. The golden dust all but confirmed the Titan's death.
He could not waste any more time underwater, he had stayed for long enough. He summoned his bident back to him, grabbing onto it as he began approaching the surface.
His lungs were about to burst, and he could feel the strength leaving his body, the surface was too far he wouldn't make it. His grip began loosening, and his vision was darkening at an alarming rate.
But a hand wrapped over his own, and many more began pushing him from behind, the same hands that had held Lelantos in place.
He gasped for breath as soon as he reached the surface, how he had missed the feeling of breathing.
Thanks, Melinoe.
He did not get a response. Once he was back on the ground, he grabbed a nearby phone and dialed Annabeth's number.
"Yes?" She answered after a while, he could hear the sound of battle over the call.
"Annabeth, it's me, Valen. What's the situation there?"
"Not good," She said, he heard the hiss of a dracaenae and the swish of a blade before she spoke again, "Hyperion was here, but he left with Theron before we could-"
"Wait, did you just say that he took Theron?" He cut her off, "As in abducted?"
"Yes, and he hasn't been back since then."
Valen cursed under his breath, that was bad. Why would Hyperion take Theron with him? Unless…
"What about you, what's going on on your side?"
"The Titan Lelantos came here, I barely managed to beat him in time. As for the army," He said, looking down at the river, "Yeah, let's just say no one will be using it in the near future."
"..." Annabeth remained quiet for a moment, before sighing, "If you're still able to fight, we could use some help here."
"I'll be there as soon as I can."
"No rest for the wicked," He sighed, whistling.
A moment later, a hellhound jumped up from a nearby shadow, and walked over to him. Valen scratched behind its ear before getting on it and telling it what his destination was.
.
.
.
In Midtown, Valen shot into the sky, observing the skirmishes. He could see Percy fighting like a demon with the Athena cabin. The Hermes cabin was big enough to be able to hold their own. The Aphrodite and Demeter cabin had stuck together so far, the Ares cabin seemed to be doing fine too.
The Apollo cabin, however, was struggling. Most of them were not melee fighters, the circumstances didn't do them any favor either. He had his destination.
He shot down to where the Apollo cabin was, hurling Shadeslayer at the ground. The weapon exploded on impact, sending multiple small blades into nearby monsters, like a clusterbomb.
Valen summoned back his weapon as he reached the ground. "Cover me." He ordered, entering the fray. The next hour was a blur for him, he kept fighting legions after legions of monsters, shadow travelling between locations to help other cabins. He could swear he came across Percy and Annabeth a few times, but it was getting hard to remember.
But they were still losing, the army just kept coming, pushing them back foot by foot until they were only a block away from the Empire State Building in every direction.
Valen stepped back for a moment, raising his arms, commanding the shadows nearby, from the ones on the ground to the ones in the buildings. He closed his fists and pulled, and the shadows rose to the occasion, rising from the ground in razor sharp blades or raining from the skyscrapers onto the monster army.
He moved away towards Thalia, and split Shadeslayer to impale the monsters in the vicinity.
"Thalia," He called, "I need you to call on to Zeus' power."
Thalia furrowed her brows, "What do you mean?"
"Call the lightning, " He said, raising his sword to the sky, "I'll do the same."
She looked hesitant but complied nonetheless, "How much thunder does your sword have anyway?"
Valen shrugged, "I've never really reached the limit."
Black clouds began swirling above them, and lightning began circulating in them. "Pull, now!" He yelled, bringing his sword down just as Thalia brought her spear down. And the barrage of thunder that fell would have made even Zeus proud.
Behind the enemy troops, a few blocks to the east, a bright light began to shine. Valen froze, he could feel the sheer weight that soul held.
"Kronos," He whispered.
He was riding towards them in a golden chariot. A dozen Laistrygonian giants bore torches before him. Two Hyperboreans carried his black-and-purple banners. The Titan lord looked fresh and rested, his powers at full strength.
Thalia gripped her spear tighter, "This is bad."
Valen nodded grimly, to be completely honest he did not have enough strength to fight another Titan that day. He sighed, getting into a low stance, "Well, it was nice knowing you guys."
"Same here," She replied.
"Let's not lose hope yet." Percy said.
Annabeth appeared next to them. "We have to fall back to the doorway. Hold it at all costs!"
Percy and Valen glanced at each other, a plan forming in their minds. Valen nodded, it was the best they could do.
Percy was about to call a retreat when the hunting horns sounded. It cut through the noise of the battle like a fire alarm. A chorus of horns answered from all around them, echoing off the buildings of Manhattan.
Thalia frowned and looked across the battlefield at Zoe. She shook her head, it wasn't them.
"Not the Hunters," Thalia said. "We're all here."
"Then who?"
It was hard to tell where they were coming from because of the echo, but it sounded like an entire army was approaching. Kronos's forces looked as confused as the demigods. Giants lowered their clubs. Dracaenae hissed. Even Kronos's honor guard looked uneasy.
Then, to their left, a hundred monsters cried out at once. Kronos's entire northern flank surged forward, but they didn't attack. They ran straight past them and crashed into their southern allies.
A new blast of horns shattered the night. The air shimmered. In a blur of movement, an entire cavalry appeared as if dropping out of light speed.
"Yeah, baby!" a voice wailed. "PARTY!"
Valen smiled, noticing a familiar soul amongst them. He shook his head, "That crazy centaur,"
A shower of arrows arced over their heads and slammed into the enemy, vaporizing hundreds of demons. But these weren't regular arrows. They made whizzy sounds as they flew, like WHEEEEEE! Some had pinwheels attached to them. Others had boxing gloves rather than points.
"Centaurs!" Annabeth yelled.
The Party Pony army exploded into their midst in a riot of colors: tie-dyed shirts, rainbow Afro wigs, oversize sunglasses, and war-painted faces. Some had slogans scrawled across their flanks like HORSEZ PWN or KRONOS SUX.
"Percy!" Chiron shouted across the sea of wild centaurs. He was dressed in armor from the waist up, his bow in his hand, and he was grinning in satisfaction. "Sorry we're late!"
"DUDE!" Another centaur yelled. "Talk later. WASTE MONSTERS NOW!"
He locked and loaded a double-barrel paint gun and blasted an enemy hellhound bright pink. The paint must've been mixed with Celestial bronze dust or some other divine metal, because as soon as it splattered the hellhound, the monster yelped and dissolved into a pink-and-black puddle.
"PARTY PONIES.'" a centaur yelled. "SOUTH FLORIDA!"
Somewhere across the battlefield, a twangy voice yelled back, "HEART OF TEXAS CHAPTER!"
"HAWAII OWNS YOUR FACES!" a third one shouted.
The entire Titan army turned and fled, pushed back by a flood of paintballs, arrows, swords, and NERF baseball bats. The centaurs trampled everything in their path.
"Stop running, you fools!" Kronos yelled. "Stand and ACKK!"
That last part was because a panicked Hyperborean giant stumbled backward and sat on top of him. The lord of time disappeared under a giant blue butt.
They pushed them for several blocks until Chiron yelled, "HOLD! On your promise, HOLD!"
It wasn't easy, but eventually, the order got relayed up and down the ranks of centaurs, and they started to pull back, letting the enemy flee.
"Chiron's smart," Annabeth said, wiping the sweat off her face. "If we pursue, we'll get too spread out. We need to regroup."
"But the enemy—"
"They're not defeated," she agreed. "But the dawn is coming. At least we've bought some time."
"Enough time to rest up before the next battle, and with enough luck Nico will be here tonight." Valen said, placing his hand on Percy's shoulder, "We need to talk later."
Percy nodded, and reluctantly headed back toward the Empire State Building.

.
.
Theron sat silently in his cell, still processing Hyperion's words. He didn't know what led them to believe it, but he didn't see how he could possibly be…
"It is very rare that something like that happens," Hyperion said, "You could very well be her chosen heir, a spiritual successor."
"But I'm not, am I?" He said, looking back up, "My souls too darned ancient for that."
Hyperion nodded, "That only leaves one possibility."
"But how?" Theron asked, "I don't remember anything about a previous life, heck if what you say is true, shouldn't I be a girl?"
Hyperion shook his head, "Not necessarily, us deities can change our appearance any way we want. For instance,"
Hyperion began glowing, and Theron raised his eyes to block the harsh light. Once the light died down, instead of the muscular, bearded behemoth of a man, stood a slender, but still as deadly, woman.
"See?" Even his voice had taken on a feminine tone. A moment later, he turned back to his original form. "Never liked changing genders like that," He said, "It feels strange."
Theron gaped, still in shock at the sudden change. He shook his head, they were deities of course they could do that. He had read myths about Zeus turning into animals to get inside goddesses pants, this is not any weirder.
"You must accept it Theron," Hyperion said, "Only then can you reach your full potential. So long as you reject your existence, you're putting a handicap on yourself."
"Why are you so intent on helping me?" Theron said, "Aren't I your enemy."
"Are you?" He asked, "How long have you been in this camp?"
"I will not betray my friends." Theron said with steel in his voice.
Hyperion sighed, "Forget about the war, why shouldn't I help you?"
"You're a Titan." Theron said, as if that explained everything.
"Being a Titan does not mean we do not care about our family," Hyperion said, frowning, "Why would we kill Ouranos for our Mother if we didn't care for her?"
"Be that as it may, I am just her reincarnation, we're not the same person"
"Not yet," Hyperion said, "Given time, you will remember everything, you will remember what it means to be the Titan of the Moon."
