IV.
"Holy shit, Cora." Scott groans making her grin at him in triumph when she hears the rumble in his chest. She feels his body relax beneath hers and his hands that had been gripping her hips slide up her back. The Lieutenant lets out her own satisfied sigh as she rests on top of him, feeling the biotic energy begin to disperse and the blue light fade from her body. Scott was pretty incredible and the thirty-one hours they had left, was never going to be enough time. She closes her eyes trying to steady her breathing when she feels him press his mouth against her neck, he pants against her skin placing gentle kisses beneath her jaw.
"Mhmm.." Cora hums as she wraps her arms loosely around his shoulders, he lifts his head to press his mouth against hers in a kiss and then smiles, which makes her giggle. Cora slips from his lap and watches him lay back onto the bed. She notices how much his chest rising and falling from the effort of their activities and the light layer of sweat on his skin. Cora lays herself down on the bed beside him, stretching her limbs out as she relaxes.
"That was amazing." Scott whispers making her smile and nod in agreement, it was better than that, but amazing was a good start. She lets her eyes slowly lift to the window above them and sees that she can see their reflections and beyond that the billions of stars outside. Cora closes her eyes for a moment listening to the sound of him panting beside her and the loud thump of her heart in her chest.
"So amazing." Cora giggles. "We need to do that again." Cora whispers as she hears him chuckle and feels the bed shift when he moves beside her, she opens her eyes and turns to look at him as he tucks a hand behind his head.
Cora can't help but congratulate herself when she sees his blue eyes watching her closely, she notices the red flush on his cheeks and chest and can't help but think how wonderful he looked. She'd definitely made the right decision with Scott; he was just the distraction she needed tonight.
"Oh, at least a few times." Scott laughs as she watches him grin at her. "So, did you want to.." Scott begins. Cora watches as he leans up on his arms, he runs his hand through his hair fixing his eyes on her. She raises her eyebrow in question; did she want to what? "Did you want to cuddle? Is that something we should do?" He asks making Cora burst into a fit of giggles. "Why are you laughing?" He laughs leaning towards her. He places his palm on her hip, drawing her body closer to him as he rolls onto his side so he is facing her.
"Have you ever slept with a woman before, Scott?" Cora asks him making him sigh and roll his eyes. Of course he had, no one was that naturally talented. "Why are you asking me that?" Cora giggles, she feels him place a hand on her cheek and gently stroke her warm skin. He was trying to be a gentleman.
"I didn't want to get all cuddly if you're not into that." Scott huffs making Cora smile even more. She'd already spent a lot of the evening with this man wrapped around her and in his arms. It just felt, very right. Alec was not a post-sex cuddle type of man; he was a rollover and sleep as far away on the other side of the bed as he could get, man. "Forget it, I'll just stay on my side of the bed and you stay over there." Scott laughs and begins trying to roll her away from him on the large bed.
"Get over here." Cora giggles batting his hands away from her, seeing him laugh. Cora wriggles closer to him until she is pressed tightly against his naked body and he can wrap his arms around her. She slides her arms around his middle feeling him rest his chin on the top of her head tucking her even closer to him. She hears him sigh when she lays her head on his chest and trails her fingertips gently over his back, she feels the strong muscles ripple beneath his skin as he lifts his hand to stroke his fingers through her hair.
Cora lets herself get lost in him for a moment, concentrating on his gentle touch and warmth of his skin. She could very easily and very happily fall for this man if she let herself. She feels Scott lift his head letting her move hers to rest on his bicep so she can look into his eyes, she sees him smile at her when she trails her finger along his jawline and then pokes at his chin.
"This is nice." Scott whispers, making her giggle. "I can't remember the last time I had a nice cuddle like this." He adds making her laugh even harder.
"Can't you keep your mouth shut for few minutes?" Cora laughs seeing him grin at her and shake his head, she knew he was going to be trouble when she first met him. "If you need to keep it busy for a while.." She whispers leaning closer to him so she can kiss him.
"I have some ideas too." He mumbles against her mouth as she feels him place his hand on her hip and slide it slowly down onto her thigh. He guides her leg to wrap loosely around his waist as he returns her kiss, almost taking her breath away.
"It's a good job we have all night." The Lieutenant giggles again when he rolls her onto her back, covering her body with his. She watches as he dips his head to press kisses against her neck making her moan when his teeth come into contact with her skin. Scott moves to kneel between her legs and takes hold of both of her hands in his, he links his fingers through hers and lifts her arms above her head, pinning her hands to the bed with his own.
"Enough time to get you to do that blue glow-ey thing again." He mumbles against her skin making her blush and turn her head away from him for a moment, she hadn't been sure if he'd noticed how much her biotics had flared because of him. At least she hadn't permanently damaged him; she would never have heard the end of it if he'd ended up with broken bones. Although, it would have been interesting hearing him trying to explain that to a Military Doctor.
"Oh, you noticed that?" Cora smiles, of course he had and he was probably feeling pretty proud of his achievements. He'd be returning to his buddies and telling them all about it, no doubt. No one had got that from her, for a long time.
"Oh yeah." Scott laughs. "Blue is definitely your colour." Scott grins and places his finger beneath her chin, turning her to face him again. "Don't be embarrassed. You are amazing Cora." He adds and she is sure she feels her cheeks redden again. Cora lifts her hand and she trails her fingers through his hair watching how it falls back into place when she removes them. He places his hands either side of her head and leans down to kiss her again in a sweet and tender kiss before leaning back and giving her a smile that gives her butterflies.
Cora sighs when he lowers his head to continue teasing her throat with his mouth. She closes her eyes tightly when she feels his hands slide down her body and over her ribcage, her body aching to get closer to him. She feels him press a kiss against her shoulder before moving to her collarbone. Cora can't help but moan when he moves his mouth unbearably slowly down her body, nipping and licking at her over sensitive skin. As incredible as Scott was at kissing, he could clearly do all sorts of wonderful things with his mouth and tongue.
"Scott.." Cora moans when she feels him press soft kisses against her breast before wrapping his lips around her nipple, using his tongue to make her shudder. Cora could feel the biotic energy in her tingling at his every touch.
"I think it's yours.." Scott mumbles against her skin as Cora's eyes snap open when she hears the familiar ping of her Omni. "Ignore it." He adds, she moans in response agreeing with his suggestion for a moment and getting distracted by his mouth that is moving lower, he bites gently against her inner thigh making her forget all about the beeping coming from her wrist.
"Don't stop.." Cora pants arching her back, desperate to get closer to his touch when she feels his thumb rubbing her nipple before sliding his hands onto her hips and then under her. "Scott." Cora whimpers when she feels him lift her higher, moving his lips and tongue against her and making her moan.
She places her hands on top of his head; her fingers tangling in his hair when he licks the skin on the inside of her thigh. Cora tries to block out the noise and focus on the feeling of his talented mouth. Cora hears herself whimper again when he moves his hand to join his mouth, his fingers working with his tongue and not noticing that her Omni is now gone quiet.
"You're driving me crazy with those noises." She hears Scott mumble. Cora grips the sheets beneath her tightly in her fist but then lets out a frustrated huff when the beeping returns. She glances down at Scott who looks up at her with a grin and his cheeks flushed. She watches as he bites the sensitive skin of her thigh again and nuzzles his mouth against her.
"I have to get it.." She sighs as it continues to sound and they don't seem to want to give up anytime soon. "Fuck me.." Cora mutters trying to steady her breathing.
"I'm trying.." Scott smirks. "Tell them we're busy." Scott grins and she watches as he presses a final kiss against her skin and reluctantly lowers her to the bed, and leans back from her. He moves to kneel between her legs and begins stroking his hands up her legs to her thighs, watching her.
Cora looks into his flushed face for a moment and gives him an apologetic smile before leaning forward pressing her mouth against his in a quick kiss. She desperately wanted to ignore all responsibility tonight and ask Scott to fuck her until she couldn't walk, but this was obviously important.
Cora leans back onto the bed, resting against the pillows and takes another deep breath; trying in vain to steady her breathing and not give anything away. She raises her arm making her Omni burst into life, frowning when she sees that Dr Carlyle's name is on the screen and that he is the one trying very hard to get hold of her in the middle of the night. Cora can't help the feeling of dread that begins creeping up her spine when she sees that The Pathfinder's doctor is contacting her; he didn't often make social calls.
"Who is it?" Scott asks but she just shakes her head at him. Cora quickly wriggles free from Scott and slides to the edge of the bed, letting her bare feet come into contact with the floor.
"Harry?" She asks as she quickly taps her finger against the bright screen and connects his call. "What's wrong?" She adds feeling her throat tighten when all of the reasons he could be calling at this hour flash through her brain.
"Cora, I've been trying to reach you. Where are you?" Comes Harry's voice, Cora glances over her shoulder at Scott who moves to sit on the edge of the bed next to her. She sees that he is looking like he's pretending not to be interested but has noticed the concern in her voice. She watches as he rubs his hand over his chest and looks at her again, fixing his beautiful eyes on her. She gives him a weak smile. She really didn't want this night to end, she so wanted to stay here with Scott.
"I'm still at the party.." Cora replies as she begins frantically opening a separate window on her Omni and authorising that Alec is unblocked. She notices that multiple messages appear in her inbox from him, and a couple of missed calls. She quickly flicks through them and feels a little bit of relief when she doesn't see anything other than his asking her to come home, to forgive him.
"It's Alec. He's in the hospital." Harry replies and she hears him shut down from saying anything else. Cora feels her breath catch in her throat and for a moment questions if she's heard what he's said. She feels the pressure at the back of her head building and suddenly all she can hear is her heartbeat fast in her ears.
"Is he okay?" Cora whispers hearing how long the silence is on the other end of the line. Cora feels Scott dip his head to kiss her shoulder and place his hand on her back, the warmth of his hand on her bare skin suddenly drawing her back to the room and remembering that he is still sat waiting for her. Cora glances at him and places her hand over his.
"I've already sent the shuttle to collect you." Harry replies before disconnecting the line. Cora knew it wouldn't take more than an hour to reach the ship so was probably not far away and she knew that she would be on it. As much as she wanted to stay, she knew she'd be running straight back to Alec.
"Are you okay?" Scott whispers and she feels his fingers link with hers and that his voice is gentle and full of concern. It is then that Cora realises that she isn't sure how long she's been sat in silence, with his warm and comforting shoulder beside her. Alec needed her and she'd been so wrapped up in Scott that she hadn't noticed.
"I have to leave.." Cora mumbles suddenly finding it difficult to speak. "I have to go right now." She adds suddenly springing to her feet, her hand still being held tightly by Scott. Cora glances down at their hands and then at his face seeing how confused he looks.
"Right now?" Scott asks getting to his feet. Cora just nods and lets go of his hand, turning away from him. There was no way she could explain this to him and he wouldn't understand why she needed to leave so desperately. "Are you going back to him?" Scott sighs making her look at him again and then lower her eyes. Yes, she was.
"I'm sorry." Cora whispers and quickly moves away from him. She moves towards the trunks where she knows she has left some of her belongings after she packed The Pathfinder's clothes into his kit bag. Cora quickly steps into her white trousers, tugging them up her legs and over her bottom and hips followed by her top and pumps. She glances up and sees that Scott has sat on the edge of the bed again and is pulling on his own AI issue trousers.
"Will I see you again?" Scott asks as he looks up at her, his blue eyes not hiding his concern for her or his disappointment that she is leaving.
"I don't think so." Cora whispers and just sees him nod before lowering his head, pretending that he is busy slipping his shirt on but she knows that he looks a little hurt. "Tonight has been wonderful.." She adds but he just shakes his head. "You've made me feel incredible." She sighs and steps towards him as he stands to meet her. "You are incredible."
"Then stay.." Scott whispers but Cora just shakes her head. "Or I could come with you?" He asks as he takes hold of both of her hands in his and draws her closer to him again. Cora wraps her arms tightly around his neck as he gathers her in his arms and holds her. So warm, so reassuring, so right. Cora sighs to herself and rests her cheek against the cool material on his chest.
"You have no idea how much I want that." Cora whispers before placing her hands on his cheeks and pressing her lips against his. Scott slides his fingers into her hair and kisses her back until she feels if she doesn't stop him she'll never leave. Why was she letting this go? A real chance, at a real connection, with someone that made her smile.
The Lieutenant reluctantly lowers her arms from him as he does the same; she smiles at him when he lifts his hand to cup her face in his palm. She notices that he looks like he wants to say something, but doesn't. So many things unsaid between them. Cora leans in to kiss him again, wishing it wasn't going to be the last time. She finally lets go of him and makes her way to the door, glancing back over her shoulder once more at Scott who gives her a small smile.
"You deserve better than him." Scott says and she watches him shove his hands into his pockets and huff lightly.
"I know." Cora replies and blows him a kiss, laughing lightly when she sees him catch it and pretends to put it in his pocket.
