"...And that's my tale of what I have been doing for the last... thirteen years..."said Jaune, finishing telling the story of what he has been doing for the last thirteen years to Yang, as he was currently acompaning Yang to see her mother on. bumblebee.
"So this samurai dude saved your life from being burned alive. He also gave you a place to stay and believed in you, and you ended up swearing loyalty to him."summed up Yang on how Jaune meet Oden.
"Lord Oden had something about him that drew people. He was strong, had a strong sense in justice, was never afraid to back down from a fight, and had this charisma and charm about him that drew many strong warriors to him."responded Jaune, as he really couldn't describe why he wanted to serve Oden, there was just something about the man that drew people to him.
"And then some pirate called Whitebeard, who doesn't have a beard landed on the shore of his domain one day and he selfishly decided to follow him out to sea despite the Pirate's constant refusal to comply."said Yang, as Jaune chuckled.
"Yeah...Lord Oden was extremely selfish. He just wouldn't take no for an answer and on the day the Whitebeard Pirates left he decided to go with them what do they liked it or not. Izo and I ended up tagging along with Cat Viper and Dogstorm."said Jaune, as he and the others were basically stowaways on the Moby Dick.
"Then after traveling with this Whitebeard for some time. This Oden meets his future wife and another pirate named Roger and decides to join him, with you accompanying him."added Yang, as Jaune could still remember how they met Roger.
"Yeah, the battle was intense as the Whitebeard Pirates and Rodger Pirates ended up fighting for three whole days and on the fourth day for some reason we ended up trading goods and services..."said Jaune, still wondering how that happened.
Yang looked at him with a raised eyebrow, also wondering how on Remnant the two opposing forces decide to out of the blue stop fighting and start trading goods and services.
"On that day, Roger bowed his head before, Whitebeard. Lord Oden, interested in the whole idea of Rogers belief in a final Island decided to join him, and since I was making sure he didn't kill himself with his recklessness from day one I decided to accompany him with the Roger Pirate's permission."said Jaune, as Oden on more than one occasion almost killed himself with his recklessness.
"And so that's where you've been the last... thirteen years?!"asked Yang, finding it hard to believe that Jaune was it another world for all that time.
"It's hard to believe isn't it."said Jaune, who understood why Yang was being so skeptical with everything he was saying.
"Well I would honestly say you were crazy if it wasn't the first fact that you changed so much in the months you have been dead and clearly aged to close to my father's age...so I guess that's the only logical explanation."said Yang, as it was clear to her Jaune had aged.
He has aged well for someone who's thirty years old, but still it's clear to her that he's much older than the last time she saw him.
"So... why didn't you call us telling us you were alive?"asked Yang, as she knew Ruby and Pyrrha would have been absolutely thrilled with that news.
"If I'm being honest here it's because I don't know how to use a scroll anymore. It's been a long time and I've been using a Den Den Mushi this whole time."said Jaune as he pulled out his Den Den Mushi.
"How the heck do you make calls with a snail?"asked Yang, as now she further believed his story as the snail didn't look like any known snail on Remnant.
"I have absolutely no idea, I just didn't question it."said Jaune, as no one ever gave him a straight answer as to why these snails can be used as communication devices.
"Weird...so why did you suddenly decide to come back?"asked Yang, wondering why after all this time her little sister's best friend decided to come back.
"Honestly... I didn't."said Jaune, causing Yang to almost lose her balance on bumblebee.
"What is that supposed to mean?"asked Yang with red eyes.
"My Lord made me promise that I would open up the land of Wano Country. I promised myself that I would do everything in my power to make sure that Kozuki Momonosuke, Kozuki Oden's son became the next Shogun. I was I would see looking for allies in order to fulfill that wish when I was swept up in a storm and ended up back here."said Jaune, who knew he was leaving out key details.
He didn't tell Yang that Oden died. Not because he didn't want to tell her, but because it was too painful for him to remember him talking about it just makes him break into tears. He also didn't tell her about Kaido, only Orochi. She already has enough on her plate and doesn't need to imagine a monster that is too powerful for her to have ever comprehend.
"Can I honestly call myself a man if I break those promises?"asked Jaune, who still live by the Creed that in Arc never breaks a promise.
"I suppose you have a point. Can't really judge you for things that were out of your control. I can judge you for blowing yourself up, but then again you saved a lot of lives that day by doing that. But ultimately, it's up to Ruby and Pyrrha to decide what to do with you when we meet up with them."said Yang, confusing Jaune as he thought they were going to go see her mother.
"Wah?"
"I'll explain later."said Yang, as she drove bumblebee a little faster.
-=O=-
A short while later Yang and Jaune were escorted into the Branwen tribe camp by the very people Yang had beaten up, showing off their bruises to the whole camp, causing the rest of the tribe of bandits to glare at the two of them for hurting a few of their own.
Yang just walked into the camp all high and mighty well Jaune was walking alongside her without a care in the world. He knew none of these foot soldiers could take them on in a fight. Each of them was about as strong as a foot soldier for the Beast Pirates, meaning unless they were part of the All-Stars, Tobiroppo, Gifters, or Kaido himself they were no match for him
Soon he saw a woman who looked a lot like Yang only with black hair. She rad red eyes and was wearing an outfit that would be described as a black kimono combined with red armor and a black skirt. She had long leggings covered in armor and next to her waist was some kind of mecha shift katana.
'I see where Young inherits her looks.' thought Jaune, as Yang stood before her mother, the leader of the Branwen tribe.
Weiss, who had been captured by the Branwen tribe earlier used that moment to use her semblance to create a tiny metal knight with a giant sword to cut her ropes and help her escape.
The whole camp meanwhile gathered as Raven stepped out of her tent and removed her grimm mask to get a better look at her daughter
"Mom."said Yang, this being the first time she's seen her birth mother in forever.
"Yang, and I see you brought company."said Raven, glad to see her daughter again.
"Just a nobody here to observe."said Jaune, as it was clear from the tension Yang was getting off that this wasn't any of her business.
"The battle scars your covered in say otherwise."retorted Raven, who could tell that the guy next to her daughter had skill.
"So Yang, after all this time you finally decided to visit me."said Raven, as Jaune noticed that Yang was shaking.
"You know that I searched for you. I spent years looking for you."countered Yang, knowing full well that her mother knows she was searching for her.
"And you found me. You were patient, determined, strong enough to make your dream a reality, and smart enough to bring back up with you."said Raven, impressed by how big her daughter has grown in terms of skill and strength.
"He's just here cuz I ran into him and he has a lot of explaining to do."said Yang, as Jaune honestly felt hurt by that.
But then again tell her it appeared that he ran off so he could understand where her anger was coming from.
"Well done, Yang. But did you two need to be so rough with my men?"asked Raven.
"If they didn't try to rob me of my gold, I wouldn't have hurt them."said Jaune, as he could see very familiar faces of bandits who have been trying to rob him ever since he arrived in Mistral.
Do bandits have an information network on potential marks that he doesn't know about?
"I didn't want to fight, they started it."countered Yang, knowing full well that her mother knew that her men tried to attack her first.
"Well you two certainly finished it."
Yang and Jaune didn't give a response.
"Right, I'm sure this is very overwhelming, but I must admit that you have proven yourself. So any questions you have, I'll be happy to answer. You two can stay with us tonight. I'll even have the cooks whoop up something for you too."said Raven, as she was sure her daughter had a lot of questions.
"That's not why I'm here."said Yang, causing a moment of silence.
"What was that?!"asked Raven, not sure if she heard her daughter correctly.
"I'm not here for you. Ruby is somewhere in Mistral. She's with Qrow and she's going to need my help, and I found someone she's going to want to have a long talk with. I just need you to take us to her."answered Yang, knowing full well that her mother could take her to her sister.
'So that's her plan.' thought Jaune, understanding what was going on now as he didn't take a genius to figure out what Yang was planning.
"And why would I do that?"asked Raven, wondering why her daughter thought she would help her.
"Because we're family."responded Yang.
"... Family. Only coming around when they need something."said Raven, as she should have expected that of her family.
"I have to say I'm disappointed."
"And I have to say I honestly think she doesn't care."said Jaune, readying himself to use Kashu and Crocea Mors has it was clear there was about to be a fight.
"... Anyway, you found me didn't you? Why not use that driving try to find your little sister if she means that much to you?"asked Raven, wondering what exactly her daughter was planning.
"Because you're going to save me time. Ruby was heading to Mistral, but there's no guarantee she's made it there. Looking for her in Anima to take ages. But, dad told me how your semblance works."said Yang with a smug look on her face.
"Tai..."said Raven, realizing that her ex-lover had been playing a part in this.
"You can bond with certain people, and when you do, you can create a portal that takes you straight to them. You got one for Dad, one for me,... and one for Qrow."said Yang, as Jaune quickly realized where this was going.
'So her plan is to use her mother's semblance to get to her Qrow, who's most likely with Ruby right now.' thought Jaune, quickly guessing where this was going.
"He promise me he look after Ruby before he left, and I trust him. So, make a portal to my uncle and sister, and I'll be on my way."said Yang, as Jaune placed his hand on Kashu, as he had a feeling things were going to get ugly real fast.
"You know, it takes real strength to march in here and demand a favor out of me. Got to say, I'm impressed."admitted Raven begrudgingly.
"It's very noble of wanting to help out your sister, but if she's with Qrow, then she's already a lost cause."said Raven, feeling a sudden blast of energy.
She turned and saw Jaune's eyes momentarily turn red before they return back to their normal blue color. She also noticed that a few of her men look like they were going to pass out.
"Sorry, kind of lost my head there for a second."said Jaune, as Raven had a feeling there was more to this warrior that was with her daughter than Yang was letting on.
"What does that mean?"asked Yang, wondering what her mother meant by her statement.
"You don't want to get mixed up in all of that, Yang. Ozpin is not the man you think he is, and Qrow is a fool for trusting him."said Raven, as it was clear she had to contempt for her brother and Ozpin.
"I would know, I trusted him once, too. People with power always hide secrets."
"I don't know about that. For the past thirteen years I followed three men who are extremely powerful and could get hundreds of people to follow them. They never lied to their men, not even once. They were a bunch of headstrong idiots, but there was just something about them that made me want to follow them. So I don't believe all people with power will keep secrets from the people who follow them."said Jaune, as Oden, Roger, and Whitebeard have never once lied to their men.
"Then you are a lucky one."said Raven, wondering who are these warriors he was talking about.
"Look I don't care what you think"said Yang, causing many of Raven's followers to ready their weapons.
"Your choice is your own. All I suggested instead of getting wrapped up in something too big for you, for any of us, to take a moment to wonder if you're already at where you really belong."said Raven, as Jaune already knew the answer to her statement.
His place is with the other Red Scabbards marching their allies towards Onigashima to take Kaido's head! Raven is clearly stating that there's someone powerful and play, but to someone who knows of an individual that attempts suicide for fun, that really wasn't that surprising to him.
"Save your breath. You can spout off whatever you want, but nothing is going to keep me from my sister."said Yang, making it clear she was not going to listen.
"Oh, aren't you stubborn."
"I get it from my mom."responded Yang, reminding Raven where she got her stubbornness from.
"Well if that's how you feel, then it sounds like we're done here. Take them away"ordered Raven as her men began to surround Jaune and Yang.
"Did you not hear me?!"asked Yang, knowing fully well that her mother heard what she wanted.
"I said send me the Qrow, dammit!"demanded Yang, who wasn't going to leave here until her request was granted.
"That's enough! You watch your mouth in front of our leader!"yelled a male member of the Branwen tribe.
"Heheheheheheheh."giggled Jaune, causing the tribe to look at him.
"What's so funny?"asked another member of the tribe.
"How much of a coward your leader is. I knew brave warriors who defied fate on a constant basis. I met a man who despite being diagnosed with an incurable disease that was rapidly killing him, he decided to live life to the edge and conquer the whole world! And he ended up achieving that dream. I knew someone who wanted to venture out of his homeland as it was too small and see the world, and despite multiple people stopping him, he did it! I traveled with a group of individuals who constantly defied everything, the government, rivals, the very forces of nature, but you know what. They did that with smiles on their faces and managed to do what no one else before them did and completed what was once thought to be impossible. The world belongs to the daring ones, that's with the man I was willing to die for told me. That the era of the daring ones is coming with an unstoppable swell, that those willing to defy fate will lead the new era that is surely coming!"said Jaune with a smile on his face, referring to the individuals that Oden said would be the ones to take down Kaido.
Everyone was caught off guard by his statement, even Raven as it took stones to call the leader of the Branwen tribe a coward while surrounded by her own men.
"Your either brave or an idiot."said Raven.
"No, I'm a Samurai."said Jaune without a moment of hesitation with a smile on his face.
"That's enough!"Yelled the male banded as he ran towards Jaune.
"Yagiri Ryuo!"said Jaune as he coated his left hand in Haki before he sumo slapped the male bandit clean across the camp, causing a nearby blanket to knock down and reveal Weiss!
"Yang...Jaune?"
"Weiss?"
"Oh, come on. Is it the eyes?"said Jaune, as he wondered how his old friends were recognizing him.
"Well I guess subtlety is out of the way."said Weiss as she made the Arma Gigas much bigger, allowing it to easily break its Master out of her cage.
The male bandit ran off before the roof of the cage blocked his path as Weiss ran over to her friends.
"What is that?"asked Yang, as Weiss wasn't able to do that before.
"Don't worry about it, and you! How on Remnant are you alive?!"as Weiss as she pointed at Jaune from behind.
"It's a long story."said Jaune, wondering how many times he's going to have to retell his tale.
"What are you two doing here?"
"Well that's my Mom, and she can take us to Ruby."said Yang as she motioned over to Raven.
"Your mom kidnapped me!"said Weiss, unable to believe that her teammates mother kidnapped her.
"You kidnapped her!"said Yang with shock
"I guess they need to learn a lesson.""said Jaune as he stomped onto the ground, causing the ground beneath him to shake.
"How dare you!"said Jaune as he was surrounded by a red aura as his eyes turn glowing red!
The Branwen tribe was honestly intimidated by this before one by one they found themselves passing out. Some tried to wake up their comrades but they soon passed out as well as before long most of the camp had fallen to the floor, completely out cold.
Everyone who was still awake was surprised before a bolt of lightning came out of the sky, but Jaune easily avoided it.
"Enough!"yelled a female bandit with short black hair, wearing what you could describe as bandit wear.
"Thank you. What did you do to my men?"asked Raven, as Jaune appeared to have been equally shocked by what he had just did.
"I guess Lord Oden was right, I have born with the will of the Conqueror."said Jaune is he still couldn't believe he actually could use Conqueror's Haki, although it was clear to him that he didn't know exactly how to use it.
"Everyone stop fighting! If you don't keep it together this place will be crawling with Grimm!"said Raven as she was eyeing Jaune, as he was clearly the biggest threat.
"Give the girl her weapon back."ordered Raven, as the bandit named Vernal reluctantly handed it back.
Weiss easily caught myrtenaster, happy to have her rapier back.
"You three, in my tent. Now."ordered Raven.
"Why?"asked Yang.
"If you're really going after your sister. Then you need to know the truth."said Raven as she went back into her tent.
'Will of the Conqueror? I better keep an eye on that one.' she thought as she entered her tent.
"Sorry about--!"said Yang, before Weiss ran over and hugged her.
"I missed you so much."said Weiss, glad to see that her friend was alive and well.
"I missed you too."said Yang as she hugged Weiss back.
Jaune smiled as he knew he wasn't going to get that kind of warm welcome, but to his shock Yang and Weiss hugged him.
"I am still mad at you for disappearing on us. But I can't describe how happy I am that you're still alive."said Yang, happy to see that her friend was still alive when she thought he was dead.
"I missed you too, you idiot!"said Weiss, happy to see that Jaune was alive.
"I missed you guys, too. I'm glad you're okay Ice Queen, you too Yang."said Jaune as he hugged them back.
"But you still have a lot of explaining to do."said Weiss through her tears.
"Yeah... I know..."said Jaune, understanding that he had a lot of explaining to do to a lot of people.
"Especially to Ruby and Pyrrha!"added Yang, as she knew that her little sister would be glad to see that her best friend was alive and well, but she would definitely need an explanation.
While not exactly his fault he was kicked into another world. He should at least tell them that he's been alive and well the whole time, at least physically.
