As the tourney continued, it seemed there was never for lack of excitement and on a particularly exciting day, many things happened.

A crannogman, by the name of Howland Reed, was being brutalized by three teenage squires, all much larger than him, when Lyanna Stark of all people came to his defense and the she wolf beat off the attackers with a tourney sword.

Later at another feast as Laenna observed, the Starks and Howland Reed came together and enjoyed a wonderful time together. Laenna imagined herself attempting to join but rather played safe and stayed with the Lannisters, though she noticed Serious Face looking her way multiple times.

Laenna on the other hand kept gazing over at Jaime, as though his very presence calmed her.

Then an announcement was proclaimed, "Everyone, all the good people of the Seven Kingdoms, I know you're all halfway in your cups and have eaten your fill, but I as your Prince would like to fulfill all your desires and give you entertainment!"

There was a mighty cheer and hooting for the beloved and charismatic Prince Rhaegar.

Then someone screamed, "Yeah, Yeah, get on with it, pretty boy." Which caused another huge rally of laughter and back slapping.

Then that all changed as that night a song was sung and played, beyond beauty, beyond words; and while Laenna wept as she normally did, she also noticed through her blur of tears that Lyanna Stark was also swept away by emotion, and when her brother Benjen laughed at her for it, she poured wine on his head which got a great peal of laughter from everyone too.

That night was a night of fun and laughter and togetherness, it was drinking games that Robert Baratheon mostly won, and it was celebrating and friends and family coming together - shy Eddard even danced with Ashara Dayne; it was talk of nothing and everything, it was simply pure happiness.

What Laenna didn't know then is that ironically the next day a knight with a laughing tree would come and very soon after that many people would stop laughing.

"Why are you always crying? I swear, every time I see you you're halfway to tears"

"AHHHHHHH!" Laenna swung around and hit at the wind of a whisper in her ear.

"Got you!" Jaime started doubling over with laughter.

He was honestly shining in his Kingsguard attire and Laenna was cross so she couldn't help but say.

"Jaime! You scared me, you halfwit!"

"Coming from you, that's truly cruel," he said with a smile.

Laenna for some reason felt tears well in her eyes again immediately and stood up.

Jaime said something like "fuck" and realized his words and tried to come closer.

"Ah shit, Laenna - I didn't -" but she already stood up and walked away.

Jaime didn't follow. He never did.

She decided the next day, she wasn't going to scream or cheer for Jaime. 'Arrogant thoughtless arse,' she thought; and instead she was going to go exploring like she told herself she would. She found a massive library and taking one of the books she went to go sit in a garden.

That's when a knight with a laughing tree on his shield with a giant sword ran right into her.

"Oh gods, I'm so sorry," wait - that was not a man.

The eyes lifted and those brown eyes confirmed it.

This unknown knight was Lyanna Stark.

I looked into her eyes and realized she had the courage to be free in ways I would never and I admired her for it, "Lyanna, Go, I won't say anything. I swear it"

"Now wouldn't that be treason to lie to your prince." They both spun around in shock to see Rhaegar.

He looked at Lyanna contemplating her and said, "You truly are an honorable she wolf."

"Go, I won't say anything either, but for gods sake, leave the shield or you might be found."

"As if I would be that stupid," Lyanna replied but divested herself of her shield and funnily put the laughing tree in a tree.

"I hope your guards will find it," she chuckled and left without a second glance.

Rhaegar looked at the fleeing knight with a very big smile on his face and let out a sigh. Then he noticed me again.

"Your name, my lady."

"Laenna" she replied, before adding and curtsying, "my prince."

"Not Lyanna," he enquired with a lip quirk.

Laenna should have been insulted but for some reason, his beautiful smile and charisma made her only want to smile, even when compared to Lyanna (to which she was obviously inadequate). She'd remember this later when she makes one of the biggest decision of her life.

"No, my prince," she smiled softly.

Then, he stepped forward and Laenna froze, he reached out to her mouth with his thumb, "you're bleeding."

When Laenna was touched, her body stiffened and she shook, and her head burst as the whole world opened before her and horrifying images sped as flashes through her mind.

She was later told she had gone into convulsions and been carried back to her tent by Rhaegar, she had been muttering words, and she had faded in and out of consciousness after that.

The most she remembers is the outlines of the horrid nightmares and the fading in and out to darkness and night and only a single flowing candle.

She remembered Jaime and many others near her and whispering, "What is she -,"

"What happened, this is bad -"

Later, most had left and she had felt Jaime caressing her face.

"Jaime" she whispered like a prayer, grabbing his hand.

"Laenna? Can you hear me?"

"Laenna!"

"Yes," she whispered, " I hear you."

"Listen, I'm sor - ", Jaime said before being interrupted by a loud voice

"Jaime, it's time to go! Any longer and the King will be upset," said a fading voice.

"She'll be alright -" said another

She felt tears rolling down her cheeks, "Don't leave me."

Then she passed out again.

Later she learnt Lyanna was crowned by Rhaegar as the Queen of love and beauty instead of his wife Elia Martell. Though Laenna could better understand why, because Lyanna was compassionate and courageous and full of justice and so very beautiful, taking it upon herself to defend Howland Reed further and proving her strength, she knows this will have massive consequences by how silent it was in the vision she had in her convulsion.

Laenna didn't know then yet, but this was not the first or last she would experience these horrible visions and her peaceful life would now change beyond recognition. She would change beyond recognition.

Then there was darkness.
