Disclaimer: I own nothing
Izuku was enjoying his newfound flight ability. He challenged Hawks to a race but lost pretty badly. It's not that big of a deal though, he hasn't had them for long. He's still getting used to them. He's been taking Eri on flights. She seems to like it. She never smiles so he can't really tell.
He got his regeneration back. He plans on taking Gabby and Speedy with him to Puerto Rico to hunt the three there. They'll be leaving tomorrow. He doesn't know what to expect. Giaguaro probably knows that he's hunting them down by now and he probably warned all of them that he was coming after them. They can manage. They're all pretty strong.
What's really bothering Izuku right now is how he killed those three vampires. Sure they were gonna kill people, but they didn't do anything yet. Yeah, people who plan a murder still get arrested but they didn't actually do anything yet. Izuku's killed more people than he should but until now he's never killed anybody who didn't deserve to die.
Now all that's terrible but what really really bothers him is that he liked it. He's thought about this a lot but it never stops bothering him. He enjoys killing people. It makes him sick. He enjoys what he hunts people down for. He doesn't enjoy actually hunting people, except he does. That's a real kick in the head. It's one thing to enjoy killing a rapist or something, because he can take pride in that. Those guys actually hadn't done anything. He doesn't think they were vampires that long. Their smell was almost human.
He should have talked to them. They were probably just as scared as he was when he first became a vampire and he killed them. He made them watch their brothers die. He killed the last one alone, he didn't get to look at his brothers as the last thing he saw. All he saw was Izuku.
"Hey man." comes Dabi's voice.
Oh thank god, a distraction.
"Hey man, what's up?" asks Izuku.
"Not much." says Dabi, "Just wondering how you been. You've been staring at that sake for a while now."
"I'm just thinking." says Izuku, "Come here, I'll pour you a glass."
"Thanks man." says Dabi as he sits and drinks with Izuku, "That shit burns just right. So how you been man?"
"I guess I never answered your question. I've been pretty good." says Izuku, bullshit, "Had a pretty good fight against those vampires. It was kinda fun."
"How's having wings?" asks Dabi.
"It's kinda nice. I took Eri on a flight and then we had a picnic at Mt. Kokuzu down south." says Izuku.
"That's a long flight." says Dabi.
"She slept through most of it." says Izuku.
"It's a good thing you didn't sleep through it." jokes Dabi.
"I woke up before we hit the ground." says Izuku.
Dabi smiles at that.
"I've always wished I had wings." says Dabi.
"I can take you for a flight if you want." says Izuku.
"They wouldn't do me any good now." says Dabi.
Izuku refills Dabi's glass.
"You still wanna try?" asks Izuku.
"Yeah." says Dabi.
A couple of minutes later and they're both above the clouds. They can see the sun setting. It's pretty. The sky around them is pink.
"I've always wished I could fly away from my problems." says Dabi.
"Would you, if you could?" asks Izuku.
"Yeah." says Dabi, "Would you?"
"I want to. I really do. I'm in so far over my head on so many levels." says Izuku, " I'm in deep shit with Overhaul, I've got heroes out looking all over for me, the serpent wants me dead, and now I'm killing vampires. I feel like any one of these I might be able to handle, but someday they're all gonna blow up in my face. There's no way in hell I can manage it all."
"I always kinda thought you were in over your head. I just never realized how bad it was. You always seem to keep moving like nothing can phase you. I know you're sort of immortal but I always kinda imagine you as invincible. Like nothing could really even hurt you. I know the rest of the vigilantes feel the same way about you. Ever since Overhaul you've just kinda seemed untouchable." says Dabi.
"You've kinda been the reverse. I think. I can tell you're in constant pain. I can smell your blood. I can even smell some of your organs. You smell like a corpse." says Izuku.
"I kinda look like one too." says Dabi.
"You've always seemed unkillable. You've always seemed like you can take any amount of pain, not just physical, and keep moving." says Izuku, "I always thought that was something special."
"How come you never told anybody?" asks Dabi.
Izuku looks down at him.
"Okay, I get it but I thought you trusted us. Well, I know you trust us but I thought you were open to us." says Dabi.
"They look up to me as unbreakable. I'm trying to find a way to say this without being cheesy, but I don't think I can… I hold a part in all of their aspirations as vigilantes. I started this and got them all to put their heart and souls into it. I can't let them know there are any doubts in my mind about what we're doing." says Izuku.
"What kind of doubts?" asks Dabi.
"There's a chance we all die. I've been asked about it. I tell them there's no way it'll happen, we're all tough we can take it. I talk about us having a hard time sure. But I never talk about us losing, at least not without an upbeat note at the end." says Izuku, "My whole life I've been in fights. I've tried to change things but sometimes I don't think change is possible no matter how hard you fight. We drove them out of a couple places now but new gangs and cartels have taken their places. Crime is a part of human nature, you can't fight nature just like you can't fight gravity. You can't change anything. I'm fighting for nothing but I can't just not fight. Neither can they. We'll keep fighting and fighting and nothings gonna change. We'll just find another fight to throw ourselves into. It's miserable."
"You're changing things. You've saved lives. You've stopped crimes from happening. You know… if it weren't for you, I'd have probably killed myself by now." says Dabi.
"I wanna die man." says Izuku.
"I-" starts Dabi.
"I'm not gonna do it though." says Izuku, "I've got too much shit to do."
"You gotta talk to me about this shit man." says Dabi.
"I think about doing it. It's just whenever I actually want to I feel like you won't care. Which I know you will but it doesn't feel like you should I guess. Like it's just ingrained in me that people don't care." says Izuku.
"We should land." says Dabi.
"Yeah. Yeah, let's go down." says Izuku.
"Dude. I know you hate talking like this. To be honest so do I but like, you're my brother man." says Dabi.
"Flying around gives me too much time to think. I don't wanna do this again sorry." Izuku sighs, "I'm gonna put my walls back up, but you don't have to worry."
"You sure?" asks Dabi.
"The thoughts go away when I get back to work." says Izuku.
"Is that why you keep yourself so busy?" asks Dabi.
"That and a couple other reasons." says Izuku, "I'm gonna go take a bath and go to sleep. I'll see you in the morning."
"See you in the morning." says Dabi.
The next morning Izuku was packed and ready to go hunting. He was gonna meet with Speedy and Gabby in Puerto Rico. They set up a time and place to go through portals.
"Hey dabi." says Izuku.
"Hey man." says Dabi.
"Last night helped a lot man. Thank you." says Izuku.
"Anytime man. I mean it." says Dabi.
"I know you do." says Izuku, "Maybe later I gotta go now."
Izuku, Gabby, and Speed Demon were outside the house that they tracked the three vampires to.
"What's the plan?" asks Gabby.
"Same as last time." says Izuku, "I'm gonna talk to em. Move in if you hear anything."
"Sure." says Speed Demon.
Izuku works his way through a window by cutting a small hole and unlocking it.
"Hands up." comes a woman's voice.
"Probably should've knocked huh?" asks Izuku.
"Get the hell out." comes the voice.
Izuku turns to face her with his hands still up, "Hi."
"I know what you did to those boys in New York. We don't have to risk that happening to either of us." she says.
"I was thinking the exact same thing. Could you call the other two in here? I have a proposition." says Izuku.
"I'm the only one here." she says.
"I can smell them." says Izuku.
"... Get in here you two." she says.
They comply.
"Let's get introductions out of the way. I'm Ketsuki." says Izuku.
"You don't need to know our names." says the one with the gun, although the other two have guns on their belts.
"Okay, I'll call you lipstick, I'll call you pinky." She has dyed hair, "And I'll call you… angry."
"I'm going to shoot you." says angry, he was on to something with that nickname.
"Okay, don't do that and here is why. I'm not here to hurt any of you. I just need you to not work with kitty cat." says Izuku.
"How do you know the name of the club I work in?" asks Pinky.
"..." that really threw him off, "I meant giaguaro."
"Oh that makes sense." says Pinky.
"So do we have a deal?" asks Izuku.
"What if I say no?" asks Angry.
"I don't want to kill you. I really don't, but I can't let you work for Giaguaro." says Izuku.
"You're no better than he is." says Angry.
"I'm pretty sure I am." says Izuku.
"Get out and don't come back." says Angry.
"What do you think, lipstick?" asks Izuku.
"We should listen to him. At the very least." says lipstick.
"Thank you." says Izuku.
"I'm not on your side, don't thank me." says lipstick.
"I just appreciate the sensibility." says Izuku.
"You gonna kill him?" asks Angry.
"Giaguaro? Yeah." says Izuku.
"We can't trust him." says Angry.
"Course you can." says Izuku.
"Maybe... You should make the call." says Lipstick.
"I trust whatever you choose." says Pinky.
"You can trust me. I'm trying to help you." says Izuku.
"No you're not you just want us out of the way." says Angry.
Izuku takes a step closer, "That's not true."
In hindsight Izuku should not have come any closer than he already was. That was not a bright move. She opens fire. The other two join her. All three of them empty their pistols into Izuku.
"I don't know how but none of those bullets hit my heart or my brain." says Izuku.
Angry pulls out a knife. Man, he really didn't want to do this.
Izuku slugs Angry. He kicks pinky. He tackles Lipstick and drives the steak into her heart. He takes a stake off his belt and throws it into Pinky's chest. He really didn't want to do this. He tried really hard to negotiate. Angry comes running at him and tries to pop her knife into his chest. He catches her arm and her other arm comes around and claws him in the eye. They both fall to the floor and Izuku wrestles himself on top of her and stakes her.
Gabby and Speed Demon break down the front door to find Izuku has finished the whole thing.
"Oh my god, your eye is on the floor." says Speed Demon.
"Yeah, I noticed that somehow." says Izuku.
"Are you okay?" asks Gabby.
"NO. My eye is on the floor and I got shot like thirty times." says Izuku.
"I thought you were gonna try talking to em." says Gabby.
"I did try talking to em. I was starting to like 'em. Especially Pinky. God Damnit." says Izuku, "Shit I feel bad man. They weren't even strong. That didn't feel fair." says Izuku.
"What kind of powers did they have?" asks Gabby.
"They didn't even get to use them." says Izuku, "I'm going home."
Izuku looks at their corpses, "Shit man. This wasn't supposed to end like that."
Authors Note
Oh my god I finally released this chapter. I rewrote the first half of the chapter like twelve times. Which is weird because I usually don't even bother to spell check. I'm usually not a perfectionist but I really wanted that to be the best it could be. I wanted them to take it seriously but I wanted them to stay true to their characters and be loose about things. I could never hit the balance quite right. Even this doesn't feel perfect but I think it was the best I could do while still making this come out today. That said it was actually very fun to write this chapter. I really enjoyed it and I hope you do to. Like I really hope you enjoyed this it took me like three weeks. I'm looking over the authors note and just kinda thinking about it, do I use the word like too much? I've used it like five times in the authors note also on risk of sounding like a moron I did it again. While Writing the last sentence I did it again. What am I even doing? Once again I hope you like it.
I got a little sidetracked there lets talk about the actual chapter. So we have no idea what those powers are. I mean I do but you guys don't. They might not even be important. They're mostly an excuse for a choice I might make later. It'll make sense when we get there. If we get there. It depends on some things I'm just gonna be really vague about it and either leave you guessing or simply not caring. I'm not sure which.
I'm really glad I did the part with Izuku and Dabi. I know I've got a rule where Izuku doesn't talk about stuff like that, but it's super important to the story. I'm probably not gonna do something that open again but I might if I feel like it. That part wasn't actually planned I just put that there.
Earlier today I noticed that we're nearing two hundred thousand words. That's so crazy to me. Like I know I've been working on this for like a year and half but it doesn't feel like it's been that long.
I don't know if anybody's really interested in the discord anymore. At least anybody that isn't already there, but here you guys go.

Reclusya: I hope you enjoyed seeing Aizawa again. I enjoyed writing him. I'm not sure how I'm gonna do U.A. I'm actually not sure if I'm gonna do U.A we'll cross that bridge when we get there. If he went to U.A. he'd have to fake being quirkless because he knows present Mic. I don't think he'd change his look. He'd just do minor feats of super human strength and agility making him look superhuman but human enough to get by I guess.
Amadeus Amadeus: Straight up. I was actually wondering if this was going a little too far when I was writing it but I was having fun with it so I just made him tear into Midnight too. I had too much fun with that.
Kahjj: It probably does taste like duck. I'm glad we agree on that. I plan on having Gabby stick around for a while with the vampire arc. I could see her thinking Dabi is Frankenstien's monster and Dabi is just like, "Dude, what the fuck." Either that or he takes the chance and pretends he is Frankenstien's monster and messes with her.
blue hell fire 666: Hi, I'm glad you like it. It's always nice to get positive feedback and negative I guess. It's nice in a different way though. I'm getting distracted. I'm really glad you find it interesting. I've got some cool stuff coming up soon.
I'm not really sure how many chapters I'm gonna write. I have a concrete ending in mind. I have what happens between now and then planned. We have about three arcs left until the last arc. This is excluding the current vampire arc. When I get to the ending I'm gonna do a poll to see if you guys want the story to continue but I have a planned ending. So we're kinda close I guess, but we still have some more things to go through.
