"Wealth, fame, power…" Those were the three words which had echoed across the world and the seas for several years. A tall and muscular man with a curved black mustache and thick black hair that was short reached to the neck. The male wore a high-ranking pirate captain's coat which was a bright blood red and wore a white cravat around the neck, dark blue pants, and black sea boots. This male was a living legend to all pirates that the whole world knows his name- "Gold Roger (otherwise known as Gol D. Roger, which was his birth name but it was changed by the World Government once he conquered the Grand Line), the King of the Pirates, attained everything this world has to offer."

Gol D. Roger ended up turning himself into the Government awhile after disbanding his crew. But there was more to the story. The legendary man that conquered the Grand Line had an incurable disease and was going to die soon, but chose to allow his death to have meaning as the World Government gave Roger a public execution at Loguetown, his birthplace, in an attempt to discourage piracy.

The male kneeled on the execution stand that had been built in the center of town. Towering above all that could see. The platform was a height of a mountain made of metal for the whole crowd to witness the execution of the pirate that did the impossible.

Two marine executioners stood in golden armor and metal helmets with sharpened sword blades. Only these blades weren't meant to behead Roger but to stab the male through the heart and allow the Pirate King to bleed to death because the World Government refused to give Roger a quick death.

"All right, let's get this over with quickly," Roger announced to his executioners with a smile on his face. He sounded bored by the whole event of his own execution and wanted his death to happen already.

The executioners brought their blades together in a form of an x-shape before bringing the blades to the air and swirled them before both blades clashed together in front of Roger, inches away from the Pirate King's face.

Everyone in the group froze and began to be nervous. Watching Roger grin. It was almost time. The end of the Pirate King. An end of an era.

Only fate seemed to have other plans as a voice rang out among the silent crowd that gathered around the center square.

"Hey, King of the Pirates!" This voice seemed to gain Roger's attention and made the male grin even larger. "Where did you hide all the treasure you found? You got it, didn't you? That legendary treasure! That great treasure! The One Piece!"

One Piece. A name the world chose to give the Pirate King's treasure. Only the original owner of The One Piece was a man named Joyboy who existed in the Void Century and left behind a treasure of unimaginable value on an island located at the end of the Grand Line. Even though the World Government forbids anyone to explore that island. With Roger being labeled the Pirate King, many believed he'd found the legendary treasure (only nothing had been taken off the island by the Roger Pirates).

Roger gave a mighty laugh which rang across the square. For it was a tale full of laughs.

The words he uttered just before his death drove people to the seas.

"My treasure? If you want it, you can have it! Find it! I left everything this world has to offer there!"

With those words spoken Roger died by the blades that pierced his body. The legendary Pirate King-the greatest pirate of them all- died right away and passed on into myth and legend. But he didn't really die before his will was passed on. The World Government intended Roger's execution to send a message against piracy the man's words created the opposite result.

And so, men head for the Grand Line in pursuit of their dreams! This is the time known as the Great Pirate Era!

The Pirates that headed for the Grand Line were a great number of those gathered at Roger's execution and would become infamous pirates and criminals, and the journey for the great treasure of the Pirate King was passed down into the newer generation of pirates and into the present day.

But no one has ever found The One Piece. Many tried over the years. Searching the Grand Line for the treasure that could make their dreams come true. It would seem the great Pirate era would fade away into stories and the Pirate King's treasure will be forgotten and lost within the seas forever.

Until destiny arrived.

There was once a voice which echoed across the seas back when the Pirate King Gol D. Roger was exploring the Grand Line. That someone would surpass the Pirate King. Become even greater than the King of the Pirates.

This is where our story begins with Destiny arriving. A promise made nearly 800 years ago was going to be fulfilled.

It begins with a young boy who didn't look like much, but turned into someone great. A boy inspired by someone by a great pirate. His name was Monkey D. Luffy and this is where the adventure begins.

The Baratie is a fairly large ship which Rin had lived in for several years alongside her older brother and Zeff. It was an ocean restaurant within the East Blue, which many pirates and travelers called the weakest seas, located close to the Grand Line. The ship's lower deck was where the main restaurant was located while the middle deck was the kitchen, the one area that Rin was heading toward. The Upper Deck was the sleeping quarters and where Rin, Sanji, Zeff (who was still sleeping in bed), and the other twenty-three cooks reside.

This place was her home.

It's what Rin always loved, waking up every single morning and smelling the food cooking within the kitchens as the day started. The blonde-haired female knew that she slept through the alarm once again as she rushed down toward the kitchen area, which also meant that Sanji didn't wake her up for breakfast either. The female was grateful that her brother left a small plate on her desk which had an apple, a muffin, and orange juice. So, she didn't have to skip a meal.

She finished tying her blue bow within her blonde hair and headed in through the kitchen door within a blue shirt and a white shirt as her black boots glided into the room.

"You're late, Rin!" A yelled echoed around the kitchen which caused everyone's eyes to leave their task and look at the only female within the whole building.

The female froze like a deer caught grazing in a field.

"Just like Yesterday and again today."

"Shut up, Patty!" the female spat toward the male.

Patty was a rather large, muscular man with a somewhat-oversized forearms (his left upper arm bearing two heart tattoos), prominent lips, and black hair formed in an elaborate goatee around his chin. His Baratie uniform (which Rin had made because she created ever uniform within the Restaurant) is heavily customized, consisting of a dark double-breasted shirt, matching shorts, and a white apron; these are accompanied by a pink ascot, an earring in his right ear, and a braided hachimaki headband. Rin and Sanji didn't get along with Patty at times, but the much older male always meant a lot to them-regardless of his sharp words and tongue.

"Watch your mouth, Rin."

"I can say whatever I want." Rin answered with a roll of her eyes.

"Don't roll your eyes at me."

"I can do whatever I want," she sassed back.

Patty rolled his eyes and shouted, "Just get to work."

"Of course."

Rin quickly marched toward her workstation to get ready for another day of cooking. She was glad that Sanji was out on the main floor working the tables and waiting on the people already eating their meals which meant her job was to take over Sanji's station as the Sous Chef for the time being. The two siblings always switch jobs from time to time.

She washed her hands with soap and water before getting to work on the food. She'll be making more of the soup that Sanji had made sometime this morning but due to the pot getting lower that would mean they'll need more.

She needs to get vegetables and-

Kaboom!

The noise was the first thing that reached her ears before the whole ship gave a shake from whatever that had made an impact with the restaurant. Her brown eyes went wide at the sudden joint that ran through the ship which nearly made the female fall over onto the newly poised floor but she kept her footing by grabbing onto the workstation that was nailed down onto the kitchen floor.

The shaking stopped for a moment and everyone looked at each other.

"What was that?" Rin asked out loud.

That had not been a seaquake or large wave that hit the ship. The impact felt like a cannonball hit them.

Who in their right mind would shoot a cannonball at a restaurant?

"No idea," a chef answered.

Patty frowned before shaking his head. "Might have been a cannonball."

"But we're not a pirate ship," one of the chefs quickly defended.

Rin gave a small nod. They might not be a pirate ship but Zeff used to be one. That was a secret that everyone that lived onboard knew for a fact, but the Marines didn't know about Zeff's real identity. Which the blonde-haired female was thankful for.

But they have been shot at before. Many by accident a few times, but nothing had ever actually hit them before until now.

"We've been shot at before on accident, but this is the first-time something hit us head on." Rin explained to all the chefs.

"Yeah."

"You think it was an accident."

"Might have been."

Rin shook her head. "I'm going to see if damage was done to the restaurant. Patty, go make sure the guests are alright."

Patty gave a small nod. "Sure."

Rin started to head toward the stairs that lead to the upper levels where the crew's quarters were because that was where the cannonball must have hit. She wondered who actually had the guts to hit a restaurant with a cannonball.

Whoever that did it must be an idiot.

A big-time idiot that would shoot a cannonball at a restaurant that could hurt innocent people.

She marched up the stairs and felt another shake like someone had hit the riling outside on the ship. What was going on to make the ship shake like this? Maybe she should've ran outside to see the damage before heading up the stairs because whoever started this mess hit something else with another object.

This was turning out to be a very bad day. She woke up late. Patty yelled at her. She yelled back at patty. A cannonball hit the ship and now something else did as well. What next-a talking reindeer?

Rin kept moving and made it to the top of the wooden stairs and noticed smoke coming out from one of the bedrooms for the chef workers…she paled when she realized whose room had been hit by the cannonball and ran toward the door and quickly shouted into the room, "Are you all right, Zeff?"

Zeff landed on the ground near his bed dressed in his work clothes which meant he had been getting ready to come down and join the other cooks. Rin quickly kneeled down on the floor with her right hand shaking as she checked for a pulse on the man.

Please don't be dead…. please don't be dead… Rin thoughtas her body shook with fear. The last time that she had feared for Zeff's survival had been a long time ago after that storm at sea when Sanji and her were only kids.

She found a pulse which made the female let out a small breath of relief. "Thank mother sea…you're still in the land of the living." She wanted to cry tears of joy but chose not to.

"Of course, I'm alive, girl," Zeff shouted from his spot on the floor as he opened his eyes. "Something like that wouldn't kill me."

Rin gave a small nod. "Yes, sir."

The sound of three more chef's arriving entered Rin's hearing as she turned and took notice of three others coming up the stairs.

"Rin. Head Chef, Zeff."

"He's fine," the female admits.

The elderly-looking man that was Zeff began to stand up from the ground and brushed himself off. His peg leg hitting the floor as Rin watched the man brush off some of the dust from white apron and blue ascot before looking at the three extra cooks that had arrived.

"Head Chef Zeff, are you really, okay?" one of the chefs asked.

"No," the elder man spat at the three with a glare as he stomped his peg leg onto the floor. "Nothing is okay."

Rin frowned at his words but knew it had nothing to do with the cannonball that hit his room or Zeff being covered in dirt and dust from the attack. It was that fact that they were cooks and were supposed to be focused on serving those that ate within the restaurant.

"Never mind," Zeff said to the three cooks as he picked up his white chef's hat. "Just get back to the restaurant already."

The three cooks were sweating as Rin rolled her eyes. She already knew how this was going to end.

One of the cooks gave small, "But sir… aren't you- "

"You idiots! Do you want me to get angry?" Zeff demanded as he placed his hat on his head but blood ran down from his head and stained the hat with blood. "Feeding the customers is a cook's job!" He quickly ran a hand down his considerable long mustache. "Are your fools trying to put my restaurant out of business?"

Only before anything can be said two more chefs arrived dragging a young teenager with them.

"Who's that?" Rin asked as she noticed the kid being brought into the room.

"He's the one responsible," the cook that brought the kid said.

Rin just stares with a dumbfounded look on her face. "Really?"

She didn't believe it.

The teenage boy had black shaggy hair, round black eyes, and a slim muscular build. The kid wore blue shorts with cuffs, sandals, and a sleeveless red vest along with a straw hat on the top of his head. There was even a scar with two stitches underneath his left eye.

Okay…I think they brought in the wrong person. Rin thought because she didn't believe it.

A kid like this seemed to be completely harmless. She bet he couldn't even hurt a fly or kill a person. Plus, the kid seemed to be at least Seventeen. Two years younger than Sanji and a year younger than Rin's current eighteen years.

The straw hat teen looked around the room and seemed to notice what had happened and quickly got away from the cooks that brought him in and bowed onto the ground with a sorry expression on his face. "I-I-I-I'm very sorry!" Then his eyes landed on Zeff's wooden leg and his eyes grew wide with fear and tears and he screamed; "Ahhh! Your leg…"

Did he think that cannonball caused Zeff to lose his leg? Really? Rin thought as she continued to stare at the kid from her spot on the ground.

"Idiot!" Zeff exclaimed as he kicked his real leg into the teens face.

"Zeff," Rin cried in surprise. "Don't hurt the kid."

"Don't worry," Zeff said to Rin and the teenage boy as he patted his pat leg. "This didn't happen just now."

"O-oh, then it was like that from the beginning…" the Straw Hat kid mumbled before Zeff kicked him away from the bed.

Rin gave a small frown. So, the kid did actually send a cannonball into the restaurant.

Zeff started to take off his chef's coat to show his skin. "But you gave me bruises all over my body. The medical fees and the repairs charges for the ship will cost you a lot!" Then he leaned back into the bed.

The Straw Hat kid stood up from his spot. "I won't ask you to reduce the charges."

Rin looked at the kid with surprise dancing across her own face. The seventeen-year-old seemed to have a good head on his shoulders if he was willing to work to pay off the debate he made with the cannonball, but she could always give the teen some wood and a hammer to fix the wall and the roof that was destroyed.

"Oh?" Zeff grumbled from the bed.

"But…" the Straw Hat teen turned and looked Zeff in the eyes before proclaiming, "I'm flat broke."

"Yeah. I had a feeling that you were," Rin mumbled from her spot on the floor as she looked at the destroyed wall. Someone his age wouldn't have a lot of money on him anyway.

"You talk very candidly," Zeff answers with a grin. "Well, if you don't have money, you have no other choice but to work here."

The Straw Hat teen gave a full-on grin with a joyful expression. "Yeah, I'll make proper amends."

"You'll do chores unpaid for a year."

"Right. I'll work unpaid for a year." Then the kid quickly lost his joy the moment he seemed to actually hear that word; year.

Yeah. The kid clearly has somewhere else to be and can't stay a whole year here working unpaid. Rin realized as she looked at Zeff with a concerned look on her face. She knew that the older man would let the Straw hat kid go within a month and a half at least.

"I'll let you off the hook with that," Zeff finishes.

The Straw Hat kid began to panic. "A-a year?! A-a-year…You mean a year?!" The sweat began to pour off the kid like a waterfall.

"Oh dear," Rin mumbled.

During all this the other cooks left to get back to their task within the restaurant as Rin just continued to look between Zeff and the Straw Hat teen because everything was getting more problematic by the minute the longer the conversation went on. The female quickly turned toward the hole in the wall to look up at the blue sky and the white covered clouds as the breeze sent the salt air of the sea into the room.

Sailing across the sea. With the ocean being your guide and feeling the wind on your skin as excitement about the next island will be an adventure on the horizon. Rin didn't understand but she could see it with the Straw Hat kids' eyes. Sanji used to have that look and longed for greater things and always wished to find one thing; The All Blue. The one place within the sea that connected all four oceans. It had also been Zeff's dream once as well.

Dreams. As long as dreams exist there is freedom. But Rin couldn't think of a single dream she wanted within this life. That is why she never once wondered what life would be like on the seas or exploring islands and places all over the Grand Line. It never seemed to reach anywhere within the back of her mind but clearly the Straw Hat teen had one-also every kid born within the great pirate era does.

The Straw Hat kid gave a small hum which caused Rin to look at him. The teen had one finger pointed upward.

"And what does that mean?" Zeff asked.

"I can only work for one week."

"One week," Rin exclaimed in shock.

Who did this kid think he was? He couldn't just demand to work for a single week after the damage he caused? He should at least stay for a month before Zeff lets the kid go, or the kid causes too much trouble and Zeff kicks him out of the Restaurant.

Zeff gave the Straw hat kid a grin. "Yeah right. You talk very candidly."

The Straw hat teen left up two fingers. "Two weeks."

Rin paled at the words but said, "That's a little better."

Zeff gave a small scoff at the Straw hat kid again. "Hey! You wrecked my restaurant and injured me, the head Chef, seriously." He leaned his head down which caused his long chef hat to hit the Straw Hat kid in the hat a few times. "You can't settle that with just one or two weeks of unpaid work."

"You win," the seventeen-year-old shouts before three fingers go up. "Three weeks."

You have got to be kidding me, Rin thought as she grimaced at what was happening before her eyes. The Straw Hat teen was clearly going to keep on adding fingers every time Zeff turned him down.

Zeff frowned and looked down with his eyes closed. "Don't talk so…"

"Oh no." Rin said as she realized what the older man was going to do.

Zeff quickly put his body weight on one hand and spun around lighting fast as his legs began to move. "…candidly!"

Rin quickly launched herself toward the Straw Hat kid and knocked him to the ground which made the attack from Zeff miss. "Head Chef Zeff, I know the kid is being…hard to handle, but you can't just attack him. You'll break more of the wall."

Which did happen because Zeff ended up kicking the already broken wall switch causing more boards of wood to fall around them.

"Yeah, guess you're right," Zeff mumbled.

"No deal!" The Straw hat kid shouts, getting off the ground. "I've patiently waited ten years to become a pirate."

"You're a pirate!" Rin shouts.

That was not something the female could think was possible. A pirate wouldn't apologize for breaking a building. They would try to raid the restaurant…but this kid was harmless. It wasn't like this teen actually meant harm to anyone. Only the kid seems to have the devil luck. Very problematic, reckless, but has a good heart.

"Yeah," the black-haired teen mumbled before standing up from the ground. "I definitely don't want to be stuck here for a year!" he crossed his arms. "Okay, I've decided. I'll get you to let me off the hook in a week. So, I've decided."

"A whole week," Rin mumbled in surprise. That was interesting because she never had seen anyone try to get off Zeff's hook in a week before. That's something to look forward to if the Straw hat kid could pull it off in the end.

"Oh?" Zeff mumbled as he walked over to the kid. He was interested in the pirate part that the kid claimed to be. "If you value time so much, I'll tell you what you can do to settle it quickly." He sent his peg leg into the seventeen-year-olds left leg.

The Straw Hat teen gave a small moan. "Oh."

"Leave one of your legs here," Zeff said as he picked up a large knife.

"What?" Rin screeched in shock. Where did that even come from? That was not something the female was expecting Zeff to say to the young pirate.

"No!" Straw Hat stated but he clearly did think about it for a moment before he gave his answer.

Zeff gave the kid a grin. "Ha! You sure talk very candidly!"

Then Zeff began to attack the Straw Hat kid once more as Rin let out a small breath at the sudden right that was breaking out in front of her. Only, during the fight between the two male's the floor cracked and both of them fell through the hole.

Rin screamed before crawling over to the hole and saw the restaurant's dining room below her. She gave a frown as she saw Sanji being held back by several other cooks from a bloody customer that was on the floor.

"What did Sanji do this time?" she whispered to herself with a frown before turning her attention to the Straw Hat teen and Zeff. "Are you okay?"

"What happened?" someone asked as they stared at the Straw Hat kid and Zeff.

"Oh boy…" someone else mumbled.

"What now?"

"What happened?" Zeff asked as he stood up from the floor and touched the top of his head which hit the floor.

The Straw Hat kid lost his hat in the fall and said, "Boy…that startled me…"

"Owner!" a cook exclaimed to Zeff. "What the heck are you doing?"

Zeff gave a small curse before looking upward at the hole as Rin looked at him and gave a small shrug before the head Chef said, "The ceiling of my restaurant…" Then he turned and looked at the Straw hat kid. "It's your fault, you brat!"

The Straw hat kid placed his head back on his head before shirking at Zeff, "You broke it yourself!"

One of the few cooks that were holding Sanji back turned and shouted, "What're you doing, Owner?" Both The Straw hat kid and Zeff were nose to nose at the moment and Rin feared that another punching and kicking fight was about to happen once more. "You can do that later, please stop Sanji!"

Rin watched from her spot above as Sanji had the death glare within his eyes that were burning red with fury. Her brown eyes wandered to the side and saw a destroyed table and a broken bowl of soup on the floor. Oh, now she understood why Sanji was trying to attack the bloody male on the floor.

The female moved closer to the hole and placed her legs down before leaping toward the dining room floor to deal with her brother, but she landed on top of the Straw Hat kid, which she seemed to bounce off of like rubber.

What? Is this kid made out of rubber?

"Sorry," Rin said to the kid before landing on the floor and heading toward her brother. "Sanji, calm down." She said as she moved forward and threw herself at her brother, quickly hugging him. "Please…" Sanji had stopped his struggle and seemed to relax against the hands holding him back. "Stop. Sanji, please."

The one thing that Rin did know, regardless of Sanji's rage, he wouldn't try to throw her off him. He'll calm down for the time being. At least until the customer sets her brother off on him once again.

"Hey, Sanji," Zeff quickly shouts. "Are you going on a rampage in the restaurant again, you idiot?"

Sanji turned and glared at Zeff before spatting, "Shut up, you damn geezer!"

The cooks let go of Sanji, but Rin kept her arms around her brother in a hug before turning her attention to Zeff.

"What'd you say?" Zeff demanded toward the short blonde-haired male. "Who do you think you're talking to? Are you trying to put my restaurant out of business?" Then he left his peg leg and hit Sanji across the chin. "You brat!"

Rin gave a small shirk as she kept her hold on her brother. She wasn't going to let him fall toward the ground. This was not the first time Sanji has done this, but it always happened when the customer had it coming. If you disrespect the cooks, the food, or waste anything Sanji would go full monster on them.

Zeff turned to the bloody customer and spat, "You, too! Get out of here already!" Then he sent a hard kick into the costumer's face which caused the male to hit the ground.

"You listen!" Patty spat toward Sanji with a glare. "The customer is king!"

Sanji glared at Patty. "Just those who eat you damn crappy dishes."

Rin paled at the comments. "Not again."

The female knew that Patty and Sanji disliked each other, or at least their way of thinking. But she also didn't want anything else within the ship to be broken to pieces. They always have a wall to the upper deck that needs to be fix within Zeff room along with the hole in the ceiling above the dining hall. She didn't think she'll be able to handle another thing breaking into pieces today.

We went barely seven days with a problem in the workplace. Almost a full week, too. Rin thought with a bitter feeling within her body.

"Patty, Sanji!" Zeff shouts to the two cooks. "If you wanna fight, do it in the kitchen!

"L-Lieutenant!" a voice shouts from the doorway. "Lieutenant Fullbody!" The person that Sanji had been beating up turned and looked at the marine that ran inside. "W-we've got trouble!"

The Straw Hat kid gave a small mumble, "Geez…what a wild restaurant…"

You have no idea, Rin thought because she agreed with the Straw hat kid but kept her eyes on the bloody marine that had entered the room.

"Pirate Krieg's underling escape!"

"What?" Fullbody shouts.

The marine looked down and said, "After seven of us finally captured him to get a lead on the Krieg Pirates…"

"Can't be! When we captured him three days ago, he was close to starving!" Fullbody explained as blood ran down his face and nose. "And we haven't fed him at all since!"

Rin went pale at the thought of starving. She didn't want to think about it. Everything within her body didn't want to remember that time. That rock in the middle of the sea…Sanji…Zeff…no…. she didn't want to even think about it.

"You're a cruel bastard," Rin spat to Fullbody, glaring. "Some Marine you are…" What kind of person would let another person starve?

Sanji looked at Rin for a moment before taking a hold of her to keep the female from going after the marine. But both siblings were on the same page at not liking the marine Fullbody.

"Krieg Pirates…" someone said within the crowd of customers.

That seemed to cause fear around the room. Rin didn't know much about pirate crews, only what she read within the newspaper, but she rarely knew any pirate by name.

"They're the ones who're said to be the strongest pirates in the East Blue…"

The marine that ran inside gave a frown and said, "I'm very…"

Then a gunshot went off and the marine fell to the ground.

All of the customers ran off to the sides to stay away from the pirate that had just arrived within the Restaurant. Zeff's eyes narrowed as Rin felt Sanji break their hug and shoved her behind him as the pirate began to walk into the room.

Patty gave a small frown before saying, "We have a new customer."

"He'd better not be someone who'll go on a rampage in my place."

The Straw Hat kid gave a small grin before exclaiming. "A pirate, huh?"

Sanji took a puff of his cigarette before letting the smoke out of his mouth.

Rin just stared. "As long as he doesn't attack us. I don't see a problem…"

The pirate that had arrived was leaky with short hair and slight stubble. His eyes are surrounded by dark rings, possible from the terror and exhaustion from his stay with the Marines. His clothes consist of an open gray-white jacket lined with twin red sea-serpent designs, a green undershirt, gray trousers, a gray headband with blue stripes, and two round earrings on each ear. He quickly sat down at a table and put one of his legs onto the table and said, "Anything's fine. Bring me food. This is a restaurant, right?"

Patty had moved forward with a bright grin and exclaimed, "Welcome, ya damn crook."

"I'll say it only one more time, so listen well. Bring me food."

"That cook is gonna get killed…" Fullbody mumbled.

Patty scratched the top of his head. "Uhm, sir, I'm terribly sorry, but do you have money for that?'

The pirate lifts the gun and points it at Patty. "Would a bullet do?"

Patty gave a glare. "So, you don't have money, right?" Then he brought his hands together and hit the wooden table which turned into nothing but wooden parts that scattered across the floor.

"Patty," Zeff mumbled with his arms crossed. "That dumb ass! He broke the chair…"

Rin gave a nod. "Yeah, and the table."

"What power?" Straw Hat mumbled with awe.

Sanji let out another puff of smoke from his cigarette.

Rin turned and looked at her brother and knew that he was hiding his emotions about the whole situation until he had time to do what needed to be done. She already knew that Sanji was going to give the pirate food because of that promise that Zeff made between the three of them when this place first opened.

"If you can't pay for the food, you're not a customer," Patty spat to the pirate that had landed on the floor.

The customers began to cheer.

"Good job, Cook!"

"Beat that pirate up, Patty."

The pirate's stomach gave a loud growl and put a hand on his stomach.

"Oh…your stomach is grumbling, pirate." Patty mocked.

"That was a fart, you stupid racoon dog. Just bring me food."

"If you're not a customer, beat it already!"

Sanji turned and headed toward the kitchen without a word and began to cook. Rin turned her attention toward Patty and the pirate and walked across the floor and put herself between the cook and the pirate.

"Patty enough," Rin told the other man, getting in front of the down pirate and Patty. "Hitting someone when they're down is not the kind of place this restaurant is…" She knew Patty would back down and not say anything as she quickly kneeled down and picked the Pirate up by the arm and leaned him against her as she walked him outside.

She pushed open the green door and walked down before closing it behind them. She kept on walking with him until he shoved her away and he landed on the ground.

"Dammit! If I were in a normal state," he grumbled to himself. "I wouldn't have been…mocked by someone like that…I wouldn't have needed…" he turned and looked at Rin.

"You looked like you needed help," Rin answered.

The pirate looked at her for a second before looking away.

"Hey, are you hungry by any chance?" a voice said from above them.

Rin looked up and saw the Straw hat teen on the upper level again. How did he even get up there so quickly? She was surprised to see him because she thought Zeff would've brought the kid into working around the place as soon as everything calmed down.

"Shut up!" the pirate spat. "I'm not hungry." Only his stomach gave another growl.

Rin frowned for a second before the sound of the door opened and out walked Sanji would a plate of food and a glass of water, which was quickly placed in front of the pirate, who looked up in surprise, before looking at Sanji, who sat down on ground beside the riling as Rin leaned against the railing.

"Eat it," Sanji said as he let out a small puff of smoke into the air again.

"Shut up. Bet it! Even when I'm down and out, I won't take charity from others." The pirate said as he turned away from the food. "Take this food away now!"

Sanji didn't even react to the words and said, "Stop whining and eat it already! To me, anyone who's hungry is a customer."

"Sorry, but I'm not a customer." The pirate said before his stomach growled again.

Rin let out a small breath before looking up at the sky. "It's very strange that this bright blue ocean can be large and cruel. It's scary to lose food and water on the ocean…It's difficult to survive. My brother and I, along with Zeff, can understand how hungry a person feels more than anyone."

"You can die for your pride if you want," Sanji admits to the pirate. "But if you eat and survive, don't you think there's a future for you?"

The Pirate opened his mouth to say something but didn't. Instead, he picked up the plate and began to eat.

"Sorry," the Pirate cried with tears pouring down his face. "Sorry…Thank you…I thought I'd die. I thought I was done…" he went back to eating for a few seconds before he mumbled, "Delicious…Delicious… I've never eaten food so delicious." Then he began to sob once more.

Sanji gave a grin with some pride. "It's damn delicious, isn't it?"

Rin gave a small hum. Only for her ears to hear a laugh and looked up toward the Straw Hat kid again who was grinning.

"I found a good cook!" the Straw Hat teen announced. Then he leaned down and said, "Hey you, it's a good thing that he gave you food! You almost died!" Now Sanji and the pirate were both looking at the kid.

Sanji looked at Rin and asked, "Who's this, sis?"

Rin gave a small shrug. "I think he's supposed to be a beginning pirate…but he…I don't know." She turned her attention to the Straw hat kid and asked, "What's your name anyway?"

"I'm Monkey D. Luffy."

At that moment Rin knew that her fate was sealed. Even though she didn't know it yet.

She gave a small nod. "I'm Rin and this is my older brother Sanji"

"So, why don't you and the cook join my group?" Luffy exclaimed to the two.

"Huh?" Sanji said, staring at the kid with surprise and mouth opening as he nearly dropped the cigarette.

Rin just stared at the pirate named Luffy with a frown. "So, candidly."

"Be the cook on my pirate ship! And I'm sure I can find something for your sister."

"Huh?" Sanji, Rin, and the other pirate said together in one voice.
