Thank you for reading. I hope your enjoying the story and like like this new chapter. I have worked out a little more of a plan for the action, but am still not very sure how to work it all together. So thank your for bearing with me as it try and get it all organised. Now I have done and with the shorter chapters I hope that I might be able to update more often. The main aim is to get the story finished by the end of the year. I hope it'll be worth it.

Any input you have for writing the action would be really welcome and would be a great help.

The sounds that came from the trees above, the sounds that had caused the saxons to stop right where they had, had been a trick. An underhanded magic trick. The real enemy was not above them but surrounding them. So it seemed that not only had they been spotted out at sea, which they felt was likely to happen, but Camelot was now working with magic. That they had not been expecting. Edmund and his men had been told that Camelot and most of Albion had the same feeling towards magic as they did. A deep distrust. This was going to be harder than they had expected, but that would just make their inevitable victory all the sweeter. All of this played quickly through Edmunds mind in the split seconds that he had before the arrows flew towards their targets. The men wore various degrees of armour, so there was no great harm that the arrows could do to them. What it would injure the most was their pride.

A few groans of pain escaped the men's lips as the arrows imbedded themselves into the few areas of vulnerable, unprotected flesh, their legs and arms. Then another groan as the pulled the arrows free, widening the injury in the process. Then a eerie silence fell over them once again. This time not interrupted by sounds from above that had been created by magic.

"Show your self's you cowards." Edmund demanded after he took hold of the arrow that was half imbedded in his arm, while pulling himself to his full height.

When he got no response he called out again. "I was told that the knights of king Arthur's round table were brave. How disappointing you are."

From the tree that he stood behind Arthur met Leon's eye, the knight willing him to not be drawn out by such an obvious attempt to provoke him by insulting his pride. The king was a little offended that his oldest friend would think that he would fall for such a transparent trick. Tilting his head ever so slightly to his right Arthur met the eyes of Aglain a few feet away bent down behind a shrub. Th elder and wisher man seemed to agree with the king that it was best not to drag this out longer than they had to. He gave a nod to the druid leader who had been the mastermind for the plan for a small group of knights and druids to meet the men as the landed draw them in and then to distract them by creating noises in the trees, so that they looked up, aiming their weapons and left themselves exposed to a side attack. Arthur was just able to stop himself giving Leon a smug look as he turned back to face him. With a silent sigh The knight looked to his right and the closest knight to him.

A non verbal signal was given around the encircling knights and druids. Once it was returned to Arthur, he stepped out from behind the tree. As he did he met Edmunds eyes, who gave him a condescending look.

"Tired of hiding." He mocked the king he planned to overthrow.

To his credit Arthur showed no outward sign of the deep distain he felt for the man before him and his men. His voice however when he did finally speak was dripping with distain. "You stand here uninvited and unwelcome in my Kingdom. Having tried to sneak in unseen. With the aim of taking it under your control. Like you have done numerous times before to unfortunate territories. And you have the nerve to call us cowards."

"Those words would be a lot more threating if you hand not just been cowering behind a tree." Edmund said as he pointed the arrow he had just pulled from his arm toward Arthur.

It was only the presence of Leon moving a step closer towards him that kept Arthur form drawing his sword and charging forward. He knew if he did that then so would his men and that would lead down a path that once they started down they could not turn back form.

"You are going to turn around and you are going to leave Camelot, all of Albion and you are never going to set foot on this land again."

A ugly laugh filled the air. "We aren't going to be doing that." Edmund said as he stopped laughing and moved to draw his sword.

An even uglier sound quickly filled the air and caused the hearts of the encircling knights and druids to sink into their stomachs.

It was the unmistakable sound of fast movement through the trees headed straight for them. The saxon men that they had thought remained behind on the ships had come ashore and there had been no one to stop them. The rest of their men and medical care where setting up camp miles for here. Arthur had chosen to take a bold course of action, hoping that it would end things quickly. He knew as they all did that there was a chance that this bold move wouldn't work out. With the great benefit they could gain came the great lose if it did not work out. And now it seemed they would have to face the consequences.

It was hard to know who moved first. There would only be a split second difference between the encircled saxons rushing forward and the knights and druids of Camelot choosing whether they turned to face the incoming attackers or those they had just believed they had cornered.

In the end when multiple swords were drawn and steel met steel over and over again, creating an steady and repetitive beat, it didn't matter who had moved first. All that mattered was protecting yourself and your brothers in arms. Most of the injuries that were inflicted didn't come from the mans opponent, but from friendly or unfriendly fire form the men fighting in such a constricted space. In such a tight position it was almost impossible for the druids to affectively use their magic To protect themselves or attack their opponent. If they used their magic in an more general way they risked hurting their comrades. So they mostly had to rely on their physical weapons.

Arthur tried to fight his way through the crowed making his way toward Edmund. Who had his back to the younger man as he fought a knight whose name Arthur hated to admit he couldn't recall right now. Whether he was doing this deliberately as a further insult to the young king or it was just a frustrating accident it was hard to say.

He was so focused on his target Arthur didn't see a blow coming that would hit him on the side of his neck. Hitting the carotid artery.

At almost the very last second he felt the air pressure change to his right. As he turned to see what it was all he could see was a flash of bright steel.

Then before Arthur had a chance to take this fact in and begin to even think about how to defend himself, another flash of silver bleed across his line of sight. Having to turn away from the blinding light he closed his eyes and waited for the blow.

When the blow didn't come the confused king opened his eyes. When he did he was greeted by a sight much brighter than the flash of a sharpened sword in the sun. His brother in laws wide and joyful smile.

After he blocked the blow to his king and brother in law, Eylan made quick work of the man that launched the attack. A swift sweep of his sword to the mans middle and he doubled over onto and sank to his knees.

A cocky grin now crossed the younger mans face. No doubt some smart remark was about to leave his mouth, but before he could say a single word Arthur lunged forward. Sweeping his sword down to Eylan's right. Where he blocked an attack meant for the knight that just defended him for a similar attack. It seemed he would was not in debited to his brother in law for longer.

"So we both need to watch our backs more carefully." Eylan offered with a slight shrug.

Arthur gave one nod. "Seems so." He said quickly before they were both pulled back into the fighting.

The knights and druids did well to protect themselves form serious injury against a larger number. There however was only so long they could hold out against a number twice their size. Events happened in seconds not minutes. There was only the one chance to make the choice of how to move. The right choice that wouldn't get you killed.

It happened without anyone else noticing. One of the saxons caught sight of one of there's moving through the trees a little way off. Fortunately Edmund was near by and he was able to quickly get to him. Then get him to turn where he had just been looking. Seeing his man on the outside of the fighting met his eyes with a smile on his face Edmund smiled right back.

"Retreat." His yell was loud and clear.

It took a beat for everyone to understand what was going on. The saxons kicked and pushed at the men nearest them. Giving them the distance they needed to be able to move. Leon was kicked in the stomach and feel to the ground. Where he watched the saxons retreat. Gwaine who stood nearest to him offered a hand to get him standing again.

"They can't really be retreating, can they." Lancelot asked.

"No." Arthur finally answered after a pause. "They have a plan."

Again thank you for reading and I hope that you liked the new chapter and are enjoying how the story is going over all. There is a lot of action happening that I've board you with enough, but I just wanted to clarify that the story has always felt like a character driven on and that is the main focus. So while there is not much of that going on right now there will be soon

I can't believe that this is the halfway point of this third and last part of the story. The first chapter was published on fanfic on June 24th 2011. That's almost 12 years ago. to mark that milestone the next chapter will be uploaded on that day, which would be one day earlier than normal. That isn't much, but I thought I should mark the date in someway. I am honestly surprised that I'm almost finished the whole thing. I always planned too, but I never thought about it as a whole thing, just as smaller parts. Looking back its a much larger project that I expected it to be.

The next chapter will deal with what the other characters are doing, Haven't forgotten about them. If at any point I do lose track of a secondary character that you care about, then please let me know. Like the last action set piece I want to give everyone a moment as this may be the last chance to do so, so please let me know if I forget anyone.

As always any comments, feedback or ideas you have are very welcome and encouraged.
