CHAPTER 5: The Formula for Success
Monday
Time 11:00
The class of Slifer red, including Red Hat were in the gymnasium to exercise. Red Hat who seldom attended any class, decided to finally attend some after that time he spoke with Jaden and Alexis. The only thing he seemed to like to do seemed to be running, everyone looked at him with looks full of surprise, from running he was a real splinter.
After a while he got tired and decided to go sit and watch a baseball game between red Slifer and yellow Ra. He stayed because it was Jaden turn to bat. " They seem to be enjoying themselves. Maybe next time I should participate too? " Red Hat thought.
"Jayden always keeps an eye on the ball." Siro shouted.
"It will be a real feat, because I will send it over the stand. In the end it will be up to me to score, we are six points ahead." Jaden replied.
"Wait!" someone yelled. "I was studying quantum mechanics of dots and I didn't notice the time." Everyone turned to see Bastion enter the field.
"Bastion arriving late? I really didn't expect that from him." Red Hat thinks.
"Can you throw." Another Ra asked.
"Of course." Bastion replied taking the role of pitcher.
"Good, we need a fresh player. Let's change the pitcher." The Ra said, as Bastion entered the field with a glove.
"Sorry Bastion, this isn't an exam here I win." Jaden states.
"I wouldn't be so sure, with the calculations I just made my victory is assured. I'll leave you in the dust." Bastion responded by throwing the ball that Jaden failed to catch three times.
"Oh, blimey." Jaden moaned.
Red Hat began to enjoy the scene. "Okay, you impressed me."
"Jaden what are you doing. You got three batters a base." Syrus said.
"That's right, smart right?" Jaden replied.
Everyone was somewhat confused by what he meant. "I did it on purpose to face Bastion." He explained.
"You walked three batters to face Bastion? Are you crazy?!" Syrus asked in shock.
"Don't fret, I'll beat him anyway." Jaden stated. "You heard me Bastion, you're about to go down."
" Maybe. But I don't want to see you cry after I hit the ball." Bastion answered getting into position.
" Take this! " Jaden yelled as he threw the ball, his eyes seeming to catch fire.
" Sorry, you lost. " Bastion said after hitting the ball with the bat.
Meanwhile Crowler on his way to class was talking to himself about his failed plans. " The Paradox brothers didn't beat Jaden, Chazz didn't even beat him, that red hat guy is making fun of me and the Obelisk blue. I can't stand those two." Crowler couldn't finish because at that moment a baseball hit him in the face.
"Nice home run." Jaden said as he and Syrus with Red Hat closing in went for the ball only to see it on Crowler's eye.
"Jaden, I'd bet, only you could make an attempt on my life." Crowler yelled. Red Hat noticed the commotion and decided to hide behind the wall. "I'm sorry Jaden, but I better not get into trouble with Crowler just yet." He thought.
"It was ...." Jaden was about to say.
"It's my fault. It was me who hit the ball." Bastion said as he joined the others.
"Bastion, of course. I was thinking of finding a new accomplice and I bumped my face against it, that is, my eye to be precise, but the story doesn't change." Crowler muttered aloud.
"I'm really mortified, I don't know how to apologize." Bastion apologized.
"Oh no, no, no, no. I've been wanting to change my contact lenses for months now I have the perfect excuse to do it. And also the perfect ally." Crowler said with the last part in a low voice so as not to be heard.
Jaden and Syrus looked confused as they tried to listen.
" You two have made enough trouble already. Get out of here. " Crowler yelled at the two Slifers.
" Okay, he was outside anyway. Bye Bastion. " Jaden said before walking away. While Red Hat also left but staying close enough to hear Crowler.
"Don't listen to him, those slackers. It would be better if you associated with people of your rank, right? Classy people, for example like me." He said turning to Bastion.
Time 12:00
After the gymnastics hour, they all went to class, with a student from the Obelisk who entered at this time went to his place.
"Get me some iced tea right away." Chazz ordered.
"Take it yourself." Another Obelisk replied.
" What did you say? "
Red Hat listened to all the talk from his seat. "I'd seen Chazz a few times. I've heard about him from Jaden and the others. But he's even worse than the other Obelisk blues I've come across so far. He's just another puffed-up who thinks he's owed everything."
"Hey Chazz, where do you think you're sitting?" asked a third Obelisk.
"In my place." Chazz answered.
"Sorry but it's not your place anymore. Now go away."
"What are you talking about? It says it here." Chazz pointed to his name tag, but gasped when he saw it was gone.
"I'm sorry, but from today you'll take your lessons from over there." He pointed to a place near the Slifer and Ra.
"With those there? No way. It's absurd. I don't mix with those half-socks. Please, Dr. Crowler, tell them they're wrong! Tell everyone this is where I belong." Chazz asked Crowler who was walking into class at the time.
"Unfortunately for you it's not anymore. Since when did you lose against, what was his name? Yes, now I remember, Jaden Yuki. A Slifer! That's why you'll face Bastion Misawa tomorrow. And if you lose against him too, you'll swap dorms ." Crowler explained.
"He's telling me if I don't win the duel he's demoting me to Yellow Ra." Chaz said.
"Very well, now if only you could duel as well as you listen." Crowler declared in front of the whole class, everyone started laughing at Chazz, not only Obelisk blue, but also Slifer red and Ra yellow. At that point Chazz stormed out of the classroom.
At the scene, even Red Hat couldn't help but laugh.
"I won't get demoted." Chazz kept telling himself as he walked away.
Time 16:00
After class was over, Red Hat went to the card shop where he met Doroty.
"Good morning Doroty." Red Hat greeted.
" Oh hello. You have come for the new cards. A new box has arrived."
"Yes, I would like to buy the whole box."
" Perfect, here you go, that's 5000 duel points in total. "
"Here they are." He replied handing over his PDA.
"Very well. Come back and see us." Doroty said greeting the young Slifer.
"Don't worry, I'll be back." Red Hat replied greeting the lady.
Time 16:30
As Red Hat was about to go back to his room he met Jaden with Syrus and Bastion.
"Hey Red Hat, did you leave so fast that I couldn't ask if you wanted to join us?" Jaden asked.
Red Hat smiled at his friend usual energy. "Sorry, I had some business to do."
"Oh well, I wanted to ask you to come because Bastion invited us to his dorm." Jaden explained.
"I still have some things to sort out, if I can finish them sooner maybe I can join you." He replied.
"Hurry up, we're not sure how long we'll stay there."
"Don't worry, I'll try to hurry." He told to Jaden.
With that said, Red Hat hurried back to his room as best he could, starting to open all the decks of cards. Among them was Magical Scientist, who decided to build a new deck around him, while the other few cards he deemed useful he decided to add them to his chaos deck.
"If Chazz is worse than the others Obelisk blue as everyone says he will surely do something to guarantee victory I'm sure." At this mental affirmation, Red Hat's face hardened in anger, it took a few seconds to regain control. "I mustn't get mad. Maybe I'll go see Jaden and the others, I'm done anyway."
After a while, Red Hat entered the Ra yellow dormitory. Finding his friends in the dormitory cafeteria.
"I figured I'd find you here. Jaden can't resist without eating." Red Hat joke. "However why did you come here? I don't think it's just for the food? " He asked curiously.
"Bastion brought us in because he needed a hand painting his room." Jaden explained.
"Why would you do that?" Red Hat turned to Bastion.
"Well I used the walls of my room to write formulas, I ran out of space though, so I needed a hand and I asked Jaden and Syrus for help." Bastion explained.
"You have a particular pastime." Red Hat commented as Bastion got up to fetch more food.
"Do you have any hobbies Red Hat?" Jaden asked.
"The only thing I do is work on my deck. I like to have more than one fighting style." Red Hat replied.
"You and Bastion seem a little alike on this one." Syrus commented amused. "Anyway, I wanted to ask you something. Sometimes you can seem calm even when you're in trouble but other times you become aggressive. I was wondering is there any reason that made you be like this?" asked Syrus curious to know something more about him. This question caught the attention of Jaden and Bastion who were also curious about his past.
Red Hat knew that sooner or later someone would ask such a question. He trusted Jaden but didn't like his old memories surfacing. "Let's say something difficult happened to me in the past that I don't like to talk about. I'm aggressive about it and with people who think they can fool me and believe they deserve everything." Red Hat tried to explain holding back his anger.
Everyone listened to his explanation understanding that something really serious had happened to him, so they decided not to say anything else.
"Your way of thinking is questionable, but since you said it has to do with your past I can't say anything about it." Bastion added, as he returned with a very large plate of more food to then sit down. " Still, it's surprising that you work so much on your deck. "
"It's like I said before that I like to have more than one fighting style, so he made multiple decks for us to use." He replied to Bastion. "By the way, what did you talk about with Crowler after class today?" He demanded to know the teacher's current intentions.
"Well basically Crowler wants me to take a test which if I pass he will promote me to Obelisk blue." Bastion replied.
"Seriously?" Jaden asked in surprise.
"That's why you were painting your room, because are you switching dorms?" Syrus added.
Red Hat had already figured out the real reason behind this test. "Crowler wants to make Bastion an Obelisk blue to have him as an ally to turn him against me and Jaden. That coward even tries to use students to get rid of those he doesn't like."
"You really deserve it Bastion." Jaden congratulated his friend smiling at him.
"You flatter me too much." Bastion replied.
"Really. I saw your admission duel and you were phenomenal." Jaden said.
"Sorry to explain to me too, since I wasn't there." Red Hat asked curiously.
" Sure. The duel had gone like this." Jaden began to tell.
Flashback
On the Duel Proctor field were Gear Golem the Moving Fortress (Atk: 800 – Def: 2200) and Big Shield Gardna (Atk: 100 – Def: 2600) both were in a defense position. Bastion on the field had Vorse Raider (Atk: 1900 – Def: 1200) and a face down card. Both were low on life points.
Bastion: 3200 LP
Duel Proctor: 1900 LP
Bastion had activated his set card which was Ring of Destruction. A ring with grenades appeared and attached itself to Vorse Raider neck. The ring exploded destroying the monster, both taking damage equal to its attack points.
Bastion: 3200 – 1300 LP
Duel Proctor: 1900 – 0 LP
Flashback End
"Not bad, I wish I'd seen the duel." Red Hat said sounding impressed.
" Bastion you have passed any test with ease, you will also pass Crowler's test and you will become an Obelisk blue. And we can say that we are your friends." Jaden said encouraging his friend.
"Well, thank you."
"You're welcome. Now, if you'll excuse us...." Jaden said before he and Syrus began to devour their food, a bead of sweat rolled down Bastion's forehead. Red Hat looked in amazement at the two Slifer who were still hungry.
Time 20:00
In the Obelisk blue men's dorm, Chazz was in his room, talking to two men on the television screen. Both were dressed in black jackets and ties. One had brown hair, the other black hair and a goatee, both had a serious look on their faces. They were the older brothers of Chazz, Slade and Jagger. "Do you understand Chazz?" Slade asked.
"Yes." Chazz answered looking intimidated by the brothers.
" I have'nt heard. "
"I said yes, I understand." Chazz answered a little louder this time.
"Well, you'd better. You know what the plan is. Your brother and I are doing our part." Slade said.
" And you better do your part. Think little brother. The world of politics, finance and if we can control even that of Duel Monsters we will control the whole world. You must be the best, the future of the Princeton family depends on you. " Jagger explained before the screen went blank.
"Be the best?" Chazz thought as he stood up and looked out the window. From a distance she saw Jaden with Syrus. "How can I be the best if he's around." Then he realized that Bastion and Red Hat were with them as well, all going to the Slifer red dormitory together. "Bastion is going to Slifer dorm, so his room will be empty." Chazz had an idea that he thought would win tomorrow duel. But then he remembered one person in the group that he couldn't ignore and that worried him. "He would be the Slifer in the red hat, there are rumors that he can beat any Obelisk. It doesn't sound like that much, it will just be rumors, I will never get beaten up against either him or Jaden again." Chazz thought.
Meanwhile, at the Slifer dorm, Bastion would sleep in Jaden room. Since there were no other beds Jaden put his mattress on the floor and he and Bastion would sleep on it. It didn't take long before they fell asleep snoring loudly. While Red Hat, Syrus and Chumley watched.
"Hey Syrus, what's that Ra yellow doing here?" Chumley asked.
"We painted his room. So we let him sleep here for tonight." Syrus explained.
"But Syrus, if he wakes up and wants to duel us? How can you tell we can be trusted? "Chumley asked.
Red Hat raised an eyebrow at the last statement. "I don't see what the problem is, if he challenges you, you accept. Besides, Bastion doesn't seem like the type to take it out on others." He said.
"Relax Chumley, Bastion is a good guy, we can trust him. He fed us at the Ra dorm. Also, you heard, even Red Hat says he's not a bad person. Jaden trusts Bastion." Syrus explained to Chumley.
" If Jaden trusts it, then it's no problem. But the fact that Red Hat trusts it also amazes me." Chumley replied surprised.
"Okay, I'll go to my room, see you tomorrow." Red Hat greeted them both as he made his way to his room. Even though he had thoughts that kept running through his head. "I know Chazz will try to cheat to secure the duel, I'm sure." He kept repeating in his mind.
Tuesday
Time 10:00
The next morning, Jaden, Bastion, Syrus and Chumley were woken up by someone repeatedly knocking on their bedroom door. "Jaden! Jaden! Wake up!" Said the voice behind the door.
Jaden still tired, got up opening the door, seeing that it was Doroty who looked upset. "What Happened Mrs. Doroty?"
" I was at the dock to unload the goods near the shore, then I saw them ... there were cards everywhere! "
"What?" The three boys, amazed at the moment, ran out to go to the pier to check. Red Hat saw them run, realizing what had happened. "But what's going on?" he asked addressing the group.
"Doroty says she saw some cards at the docks." Jaden explained to Red Hat who decided to follow them.
When Jaden and the others arrived they saw that what Doroty had said was true. There were cards from a scattered deck floating in the water.
"That's Ring of Destruction!" Jaden said pointing at the card.
"And there's also Vorse Raider." Syrus said pointing to another card.
"Bastion is your deck." Jaden said realizing whose cards were.
"It's my fault." Bastion began to explain. " I left my deck in the desk which I moved to the corridor to paint the room. "
" Who would do something like this? " Syrus wondered.
" I'm tell you who, someone who doesn't want to stop you from moving on to the Blue Obelisk. it's terrible. Look how your deck has been reduced, now it's ruined. What a mess, how do you plan to solve this problem, the exam for promotion is in less than an hour." Jaden declared. Looking at the situation, Red Hat couldn't help but clench his fists in anger because he already knew who had done this.
All four made it to the arena, where Crowler and Chazz were waiting. "You've finally arrived." Crowler greeted. Noticing that with him were Jaden, Syrus and Red Hat, not happy with the latter for the scene in class last time but decided to ignore it. "Oh, I see you've brought a bunch of supporters."
"I hope your dueling is better than your friends." Chazz scoffed.
"Wait a minute, is your opponent Chazz? Now that explains everything. He was definitely the one who threw your cards in the water." Jaden affirms.
"Eh, what?" Crowler asked confused by this.
"I really don't know what they're talking about. I didn't do anything." Chazz denied.
"Oh, really?" Everyone turned to see whose voice it was. Alexis with Zane. "I saw you with my own eyes. It was almost dawn by the docks. You flipped the cards and ran. I don't usually snitch, but it was a low-level gesture." Alexis said.
"Very low level, even for a worm like you." Jaden added.
" Easy on the accusations, who tells you I didn't throw my cards. We probably have similar decks and this is the explanation." Chazz defended himself.
"Liar!" Jaden called him.
"I won't let anyone call me a liar or a thief." Chazz replied.
"That's enough! Let's stop it! Let's start the duel instead." Bastion interrupted.
"But how?" Jaden asked him.
"A good duelist always has a spare deck. Or better yet more than one. Those formulas in my room were used to create different types of decks." Bastion explained, as he opened his yellow jacket revealing six pockets with each one a different deck.
"You know I care about your decks, for me you could even have a thousand. I just need one. Come on, let's begin." Chazz said.
"Very well. I can't ask for anything better. Believe me, Chazz." Bastion answered, who was confidant. "You're nothing but a problem to solve. You're doomed." He said activating his duel disk.

Chazz: 8000 LP
"I go first! I draw!" Chazz draws.
Hand 6
" I summon Chthonian soldier (Atk: 1200 – Def: 1400). I set a card face down and end my turn. " Chazz ends his turn.
Hand 4
"Oh, oh, that's all?" Bastion said.
"Chazz must have some tricks up his sleeve." Jaden thought.
"He seems determined." Alexis answered.
" It's my turn! I draw!" Bastion draws.
Hand 6
" I summon Hydrogeddon (Atk: 1600 – Def: 1000). Attack his chthonic soldier with Hydro Gust." Hydrogeddon hit the opposing monster with a stream of water.
Chazz: 8000 – 7600 LP
"Thanks, by doing so you activated my monster's effect, which inflicts the same damage to you as I took." Chazz explained.
Bastion: 8000 – 7600 LP
" My monster also has an effect. In fact, when Hydrogeddon destroys a monster, I can summon another Hydrogeddon from the deck." Bastion replied, while a second monster appeared on his side of the field, equal to the first. " And you haven't seen anything yet, in fact my second monster attacks you directly. "
Chazz: 7600 – 6000 LP
" I set a card face down and end my turn. " Bastion ends his turn.
Hand 4
" You pay for this. I draw! "
Hand 5
" I activate the continuous trap card Call of the Haunted. Which allows me to Special Summon from the graveyard. And the monster I choose is Chthonian Soldier (Atk: 1200 – Def: 1400). Then I play the Inferno Reckless Summon spell. Which allows both of you to Special Summon in Attack Position any monster from your Deck, Hand or Graveyard that is the same as the monsters you have on the field. "
Now on both sides both duelists had three identical monsters.
"But that doesn't make sense. No matter how many monsters Chazz summons, they don't have enough attack points to take down Bastion's Hydrogeddons." Alexis said to herself.
"I activate the equip spell Chthonian Alliance. This way the equipped monster gains 800 points for each card with the same name (Atk: 1200 – 3600 – Def: 1400). " Chazz said, as one of the Chthonian Soldiers grew larger. "Chthonian soldier attacks."
" Not so fast, I activate a trap. Magic Cylinder! Negates your monster attack and deals damage to you equal to its attack points. " Two cylinders had appeared in the middle of the field. One absorbed the attack, while the other fired a beam at Chazz.
Chazz: 6000 – 2400 LP
"Great Bastion. Great counter-move." Jaden complimented.
"Amazing, what a blow." Syrus continued.
"I'm not done yet. I activate the spell Smashing Ground! which destroys the monster on your side of the field with the more defense points." Chazz said, as a giant punch destroyed one of the Hydrogeddons.
" I end my turn. "
Hand 3
" Congratulations, but I already have a counter-move. I draw!"
Hand 5
" I summon Oxygeddon (Atk: 1800 – Def: 800). Attack the weakest Chthonian Soldier with Vapor Scream. "
Chazz: 2400 – 1800 LP
"You forgot, when my monster is destroyed you take the same damage." Chazz reminded him.
Bastion: 7600 – 7000 LP
"I'm not done yet. Hydrogeddon attacks the other weaker Chthonian Soldier." The attack was successful, but Bastion still took the damage from Chazz's monster effect as before.
Chazz: 1800 – 1400 LP
Bastion: 7000 – 6600 LP
"Why doesn't he change his strategy?" asked Syrus.
"He's playing smart." Zane replied. " With Chthonian Alliance his monster has 3600 attack points. Bastion would have to summon a powerful monster to take him down, or eliminate the other two monsters and reduce his strength. " Zane explained, as Chazz monster got smaller (Atk: 3600 – 2000 – Def: 1400).
" I set a card face down and end my turn. " Bastion ends his turn.
Hand 3
"You just got lucky, but it's over now. I draw." Chazz draws.
Hand 4
"I sacrifice Chthonian Soldier and all cards in my hand to summon Infernal Incinerator! (Atk: 2800 – Def: 1800). Now you're doomed, also because my monster gets 200 extra attack points for each monster you control (Atk: 2800 – 3400 – Def: 1800).
" Has risen to 3400 hardness points. Now Bastion is in trouble." Jaden said worried for his friend.
"Go Infernal Incinerator! Attack with Fire Storm Blast!"
"I play the trap Amorphous Barrier! When I have three or more monsters on my field, I can negate the opponent's attack and end the Battle Phase!" Several pillars formed in front of the Bastion monsters defending them from the fiery attack.
Hand 0
"Next turn, I'll destroy you." Chazz gritted in anger.
"There won't be a next turn for you." Bastion stated as he draw his card.
Hand 4
" I activate the spell Bonding - H2O . I sacrifice two Hydrogeddon and one Oxygeddon and special summon Water Dragon (Atk: 2800 – Def: 2600)! And with fewer monsters on the field, your monster's attack points also decrease (Atk: 3400 – 3000 – Def: 1800). "
"It doesn't bother me at all. My monster is still the strongest."
"You'd better redo the calculations. Because my dragon reduces the attack of fire-attribute or pyro-type monsters to 0." Bastion explained, as a wave of water overwhelmed Chazz's monster. " Water Dragon attacks! Tidal Blast! "
Chazz: 1400 – 0 LP
"You dueled well, I have to admit it." Bastion complimented. "But not enough."
"You just got lucky. You only beat me because you got a really good card." Chazz replied angrily.
"Maybe, but luck favors those who are prepared, and I guarantee you that I was ready to beat you with many more other cards. I'm sorry, you would have lost the duel anyway. But if you want to deny it, go ahead, anyway. You've already denied throwing my deck in the water." Bastion said.
" Prove it! "
"If you insist." Bastion pulled out a card Vorse Raider had retrieved. Everyone saw that there were equations written on paper. " It's true, you could have written it yourself. But in that case it would be wrong, but it isn't. Chazz you stole, lied, cheated and lost. And you deserve to be demoted. "
"It can't be true!" Chazz said in despondency.
"Bastion Misawa. My congratulations and welcome to the Obelisk blue." Crowler said.
"No, thank you for the opportunity, but I decline." Bastion answered.
"What? And for what reason?" Crowler asked confused.
"When I arrived at Duel Academy, I decided that I would only switch to the Blue Obelisk on the day I became the number 1 of the first year student." Bastion turned to Jaden and Red Hat. " Jaden, Red Hat, out of all the first year students, I think you or both of you are the best."
"Thanks for the compliment Bastion." Red Hat replied smiling.
"Thank you very much. You want to establish the best one right away. You know how it is, seeing you made me really want to duel." Jaden affirmed enthusiastically.
"It's not the time yet."
"But why not?"
"Because I have several things to do before challenging you. Formulas to write, theorems to solve, Equations to study. You are excellent duelists and I want to prepare in advance." Bastion explained.
"You're smart, huh." Jaden commented.
"He didn't have to prepare for me. He beat me. On a day's notice." Chazz growled.
"I give you my word that soon the walls of my room will have new formulas. Then we will face off in a duel. Which will end like the baseball game.
"I wouldn't have too many illusions if I were you. Baseball is a pastime for me. Duels are my life." Jaden replied proudly.
After this defiant speech, Red Hat left the dueling arena thinking that no one had noticed him. Too bad Alexis had seen it instead.
After the duel, Chazz hurried out of the dueling arena, exiting the main building and stopping by the stone walls reflecting on his failure. "That can't be true! I should've won! I'm supposed to be the best! Yet he beat me!" Chazz kept yelling out loud thinking him to be alone. As he was about to leave, you hear the sound of footsteps nearby. Coming out from behind one of the stone walls Chazz found himself in front of Red Hat.
"You really thought you were leaving without a punishment for what you did to Bastion deck." Red Hat told Chazz in an angry voice.
" What are you doing here?" Chazz asked surprised by her presence.
"I have come to put a worm like you in your place." He replied.
Taking a closer look at who Chazz was facing, he realized who it was. "Now I remember. You're that Slifer that goes around beating all the Obelisk blues."
" I don't care what people say about me. The only thing I want now is to teach you the lesson you deserve. "
" You don't scare me at all. Just wait until I get my revenge on Jaden and Bastion first. I deserve it for being the best in the academy." Chazz answered, not scared by Red Hat's words.
"The only thing you deserve is for someone to finally show you the underdog you really are." Red Hat teased him.
Chazz was now very angry that his pride was hurt by the Slifer in front of him. "That's enough! No one talks to me like that and get away with it! Come on, I bet you're not as strong as everyone says." Chazz challenged him by activating his duel disk.
Red Hat smiled as he activated his duel disk. "Exactly what I wanted."

"I go first. I draw." Red Hat said as he draw.

"Keep going, you might draw even a million cards they won't help you anyway." Chazz declared.
Red Hat was unmoved by her statement. "Now I play Card Destruction. We both discard all the cards in our hands, then we both draw the same number of discards." Red Hat explained as he and Chazz re-draw. Seeing his new Red Hat hand, he couldn't help but smile.
"What are you smiling, come on, hurry up with your turn." Chazz said growing impatient.
" As you like, but you asked. I play Monster Reborn to bring back one of the monsters I discarded. Back Dark Magician of Chaos (Atk: 2800 – Def: 2600). And thanks to its effect, a spell card in my graveyard returns to my hand and I choose Monster Reborn. " He explained as the card he called came out of the graveyard slot and returned it to his hand. " Now you know what I do, I activate Monster Reborn for the second time to call another monster from the graveyard. I summon Catapult Turtle (Atk: 1000 – Def: 2000). I use the effect of Turtle Catapult, I tribute a monster and inflict damage to you equal to half its attack points. I offer as tribute Dark Magician of Chaos." The mage stood on top of the catapult monster where it was launched at Chazz.
Chazz: 8000 – 6600 LP
"That's all you have. I was right, you're nothing special, those are just rumors about you." Chazz teased him.
" Who said I'm done? I summon Magical Scientist (Atk: 200 – Def: 100). I immediately activate its effect. By paying 1000 life points I can special summon a level 6 or lower fusion monster from the extra deck that can't attack and is destroyed at the end of the turn. But you know what I say, why limit myself to one when I can summon more. I pay 3000 life points and summon three Crimson Sunbirds (Atk: 2300 – Def: 1800). " Three identical monsters that looked like large red birds appeared from Red Hat side of the field.
Red Hat: 8000 – 5000 LP
"You're dumber than you look. What's the point of summoning three monsters that can't attack." Chazz scoffed.
"Using Turtle Catapult effect again, I tribute my three Crimson Sunbirds to deal damage to you again." The three birds charged at the monster, then were launched as well.
Chazz: 6600 – 5450 – 4300 – 3150 LP
"I'll make you pay for this!" Chazz threatened.
Red Hat laughed at her statement. "Look, I'm not done yet. I pay another 3000 life points to use Magical Scientist effect again. This time I summon three Aqua Dragons (Atk: 2250 – Def: 1900) ." This time three blue dragons appeared on Red Hat's field.
Red Hat: 5000 – 2000 LP
"With this you're done Chazz! I use the Catapult Turtle effect for the last time by sacrificing my three Aqua Dragons." The three dragons were loaded onto the catapult and launched at Chazz.
Chazz: 3150 – 2025 – 900 – 0 LP
"It can't be!" Chazz yelled on his knees in fury at his loss. "How could I lose to this Slifer in one turn! First Jaden, then Bastion, now him too!" He kept yelling
At that point Red Hat approached Chazz. She looked up to look at him, but saw that he was being watched with a furious glare. "That's what people like you deserve. You Obelisks believe yourselves so much better that you think anything is allowed that you even go as far as cheating. The only thing you deserve is to lose with dishonor. Just like you lost to Jaden and Bastion You proved who you really are by losing to me."
"It doesn't stop there loser. Next time you see me you and your friends will be defeated by me." Chazz yelled at him before walking away.
"There's nothing more to do here, I might as well go and rest." Red Hat said as he walked back to his dorm room.
What Red Hat didn't know is that someone was watching their duel the entire time. It was Alexis with Zane. "Who knows what will have happened to him to see the Obelisks with so much hatred, not all of them are horrible people like he thinks." Alexei said.
" Who knows? That's about Red Hat, not us. But I have to agree with you about one thing, Red Hat may be a great duelist but when he's up against an Obelisk the only thing I can sense from him is a deep rage. " Zane commented.
"Yes, I noticed that too. I wish that him understand that not everyone is as he think they are." She wished Alexis, that Red Hat understood that not all people were as you imagined. "But if he continues on this path then I'll take care of teaching him a lesson." She commented before they both left.
A/N: The duel Between Chazz and Bastion is based on the episode of the series, I preferred to do so because in Tag Force 1 in the duel Bastion used his earth attribute deck and I thought it was not suitable for that. For the Magical Scientist deck I found a deck from a guy who played Tag Force that I used so I thought I'd include it as a deck for Red Hat. As for the duel between Red Hat and Chazz instead, I included it in the story because I wanted Chazz to be punished for throwing Bastion deck into the water also because when Chazz was an Obelisk blue in the first season of the series I couldn't stand him.
