Hours had gone by and he was still sitting in the waiting room head hanging down in his hands. He couldn't help but hear her words resonating in his head. And the look of terror in her eyes. Thank God she wasn't alone in the car and he was able to drive her to the hospital. Andy still felt so powerless, not being able to even hold her hand through all of it. She was probably so scared. He had done all he could, though now he could only wait until someone would inform him about what was happening to his wife. He had called the team when Sharon had been taken away to surgery. A nurse had cleaned his cut under the ribs and checked on his general state as he had passed out for several minutes after the accident. But he was just fine and all he wanted was to see his wife. The nurse had advised him to get some sleep but he wouldn't. Every time he closed his eyes he saw her vivid green eyes completely panicked and all the blood on her seat. He just needed to see her and he wouldn't be able to wait much longer.

- Mr Flynn? a voice called from afar.

Andy raised his head, looking around and not knowing if he was actually hallucinating.

- Mr Flynn? the doctor called again.

- Yes! Yes! I'm… Andy Flynn… How's my wife doctor? he rose hurriedly from the seat, walking towards the doctor.

- Mrs Flynn is now out of surgery…

- How is she, Doctor? Is she gonna be alright? he interrupted the doctor, too impatient to know if Sharon was okay.

- Yes, she's stable now. She lost quite a lot of blood… but we were able to stop the bleeding for now. We were afraid there would be a placental abruption. Fortunately, there is none of that, although she's gonna have to be careful from now on. She suffered quite a shock in the accident and the placenta is therefore very sensitive.

- Okay, we'll do what is needed, Doc… does it mean that the baby is…? Andy rose his eyebrows, dreading his answer.

- Yes, Mr Flynn, that means the baby is fine. We got pretty close to losing the fetus but fortunately the surgery was successful. We still need to keep your wife under close observation for the next few days to make sure the fetus doesn't develop any abnormality and to avoid any infection.

- Thank you so much for everything, Doctor… Andy felt his eyes fill with tears, when can I see her? Andy sighed in relief now knowing they were both out of trouble.

- Your wife will probably wake up in a couple of minutes, we're transferring her to her room right now. As soon as she's awake, I'll send an obstetrician to do an ultrasound.

- Okay, great. Thanks again, Doc.

- Please follow me, I'll show you her room.

- I'd love that…

Andy felt emotion invade him. As he opened the door to her hospital room, he released a breath he hadn't realized he'd been holding. He hurried to her side, grabbing her hand in his as soon as he was close enough. He brought her delicate skin to his lips and kissed it tenderly. Sharon. His Sharon. Finally after hours apart worrying about her, he was able to hold her hand as he had promised her he would. She was still asleep. Her face was so pale but beautiful nonetheless. He couldn't wait to see her amazing green eyes wide open and tell her that their baby was okay. In the meantime, he pulled a chair closer to her bed, and remained silent for a few minutes, her hand still in his.

His eyes eventually landed on her stomach. How crazy it all was! He had never expected this kind of miracle to happen. Sharon was pregnant against all odds. He didn't even know how far along she was and he had only found out barely a few hours prior but oh how he already loved that baby. He couldn't be more thankful to the Universe for giving him the opportunity to be a father again and raise a child with the love of his life. Years ago they had missed their chance and now he had the opportunity again to share that with her. None of this would make any sense without Sharon. He was so sure she would, once again, be an amazing mother and he couldn't wait to share those precious moments with his love.

He gently moved one of his hands over her stomach. She wasn't showing yet but now that he was thinking about it, he should have known. Something was different about her. She was glowing in a special way. Poor Sharon, she had been so scared to share the news with him and he was so mad at himself for that. Probably in the attempt to give Sharon and the baby some strength from the outside, he started humming a tune. Their song. It was ridiculous to hear himself hum their song in a cold hospital room, but he didn't care. It had been the first song they ever danced on together. Their first night together. The night he had realized he had found his half. When came the chorus he started whispering the lyrics getting closer to her stomach.

- 'Cause honey nothing, nothing, nothing can ever change this love I have for you…

- Mr Flynn, you are the love of my life… but you are such a terrible singer… eyes half closed, she mumbled, her mouth still dry from the surgery.

- Sweetheart…. he sighed in surprise, I might be a terrible singer, but I am a smart ass. See, I knew you'd wake up with my terrible singing, he chuckled giving her the most welcoming and loving smile.

Andy stood from his chair and couldn't stop his lips from seeking hers. After giving her several kisses on the lips he had so missed, his hands dived into her hair.

- Andy… the ba… she tried to sit but she felt some pain around her stomach which made her change her mind.

- Shh… Easy… The baby is fine, Sweetheart. We made it in time, he kissed her forehead.

Sharon sighed in relief, her hand naturally landing on her invisible bump hiding their secret miracle. Her body felt sore and ached a lot mostly around her middle but all she needed to know was that the baby had made it. She couldn't have imagined losing it although she had taken so long to accept it. She had been clouded by her fears of disappointing Andy but now she could see how ridiculous it was to dread his reaction.

A few moments later, a doctor interrupted them. It was Sharon's first ultrasound and she couldn't be happier to be there with Andy. As soon as the screen was on and showing the shape of their little miracle, both Sharon and Andy were captivated by what was before their eyes. Their baby. Life had given them the chance to enjoy parenthood again. And together, nonetheless.

Sharon had enjoyed her previous pregnancies although Jack had been very mean to her and had let her go through them pretty much by herself. He was possessive of her because he saw her as his property. But deep inside he didn't care about her, he didn't know her for who she was and most of all he didn't feel concerned by giving her the support she so needed. The idea of going through it all over again wasn't scary as it was going to be very different this time around. Because now she was with the man of her life and he was as committed as she was.

Tears were rolling down her cheeks. Happy tears. She knew how lucky she had been after the accident and was determined to fight for this baby so that she would be able to give birth to a healthy child. She instinctively looked for his eyes and saw exactly what she needed. Love. He would be there for her every step of the way and she knew it. She squeezed his hand as tight as she physically could, looking him straight in the eyes without flinching. Andy lowered his face to kiss her then whispered I love you in her ear. His words drew an even wider smile on her face. Her heart felt fuller than she had ever thought possible.

The day had been quite long, it was the least they could say. Sharon was exhausted and so was Andy. He had hesitated to sleep in a chair next to her bed so that she would have all the space to sleep comfortably, her body still achy from their misadventure. Only she couldn't imagine falling asleep any other way than in his arms, bathed in his comforting scent. Plus she knew more than well how their bodies weren't so young anymore and his back would feel terrible the next day if she let him sleep in a chair for more than an hour. So they felt asleep together, Andy spooning her as was their sleeping habit. It made even more sense now to have his hand lay over her stomach after what he had found out today. His hand rested warmly and protectively over her invisible bump, her hand over his.

A full night of sleep had done them good. Of course, sleeping in a hospital room wasn't exactly as comfortable and resting as a night in their own bedroom but they had felt so exhausted that they had slept through the night despite the regular visits of the duty nurses and the beeping machines keeping track of Sharon's and the baby's vital signs.

Sharon opened her eyes slowly, blinking against the invading sunlight. The morning was quiet. The room was silent despite the regular beeps. Andy was still in the same position, his hand hanging limp over her hip and resting against her stomach. Her hand met his. She was so lucky to have him. After gathering her courage, she started changing positions which earned her a grunt of pain. They had remained the same way the whole night and her body felt now very sore from the previous day. As she was turning around to face Andy, she felt him stir in his sleep. His arm naturally came around her again, seeking for her body. Once facing him, she couldn't help herself and held out the arm she wasn't on to caress his cheek. Her lips kissed his. Obviously since she was messing around with him he ended up waking up.

- Good morning… she whispered caressing his face again.

- Morning my love, he muffled under his breath.

- Sorry for waking you up… she chuckled which made Andy smile his eyes still half-closed.

- Been awake already but you were still sound asleep so I closed my eyes for a few minutes more, he explained while gently pulling her closer with his hand against her back. How are you feeling this morning?

- My body hurts like hell, she grimaced, but those hours of sleep did me good. I'm so glad we're here, safe and sound, she whispered while kissing him.

- Yes… the three of us got very lucky… he caressed the side of her face.

Sharon nuzzled in the crook of his neck in response, desperately in need to feel close to him to finally release what she had been holding forever.

- Andy… she sighed and paused.

- Yes, my love? he massaged her scalp.

- I'm so sorry… her voice broke, which made Andy pull her out of his embrace to see her face.

- Sorry for what? he was suddenly concerned.

- I'm so very sorry for not telling you earlier. I was so scared to disappoint you because you had told me you wanted to enjoy our life together and you seemed quite annoyed with Rusty's presence so… I figured you wouldn't be happy about the perspective of having a new baby. It reminded me of the first time we split, when I lost… Andy… I got so scared… but I know now I was so stupid to…

- No, no, no. Please, don't say that, Andy's heart ached for Sharon.

- It's my fault, Andy… once again I let myself be triggered by my fears and by not telling you about the baby, I almost… we almost… Sharon couldn't bring herself to say the words out loud.

- Sweetheart… he dried her tears with his fingers, I should be the one apologizing! I am so mad at myself for once again not seeming… reachable… I'm so devastated to know that you were so scared and felt alone in this… I am the one being sorry for letting you down… Andy's eyes were now full of tears as well.

- You didn't, honey… You didn't let me down. Much to the opposite actually! You saved us! If it wasn't for you, it'd have happened again…, she paused, I just should have told you as soon as I had my suspicions and I shouldn't have felt so scared… it's just that we hadn't talked about it much and I really thought this was not even a possibility anyways so when I found out I didn't know what to do or how to tell you…

- Sharon, you don't have to apologize for being scared or for needing some time to swallow the news, I should have known better and I wish I hadn't said that about Rusty that made you feel then uncomfortable to bring up your pregnancy with me… I was actually very annoyed and frustrated about his behavior towards you… he was so disrespectful and harsh with his words that I just…

- It's okay, Andy. It's okay… I just misunderstood, honey… she grabbed the side of his face, making him look her in the eye and pause. Thank you for saving us… honey, you were there when I needed you and you saved our baby… you didn't do anything wrong my love, she kissed him twice and nuzzled in his arms again, I love you more than you'll ever know.

Andy's arms closed tightly around her, not ever wanting to let her go.

- My love? he broke the silence again.

- Mmh?

- Although I said that about Rusty, I am over the moon happy. I can't wait to live that new adventure with you. I'm so glad we get a chance to experience parenthood together, you have no idea! A mini you or a mini me is gonna be among us and drive us crazy soon enough… I just can't wait to see you become a mother again… he kissed the top of her head and drew soothing circles on her back.

- I'm so happy to hear you say that, Andy...

After a few silent seconds, he added:

- Oh and for the record… I love you more, he chuckled through the remains of his tears and felt her smile against his neck.
