I don't own digimon.
Lucas's mind was charging a mile a minute as he headed for the car. The temptation to take Volcdramon hung in the air for just a second, but was quickly quashed by the fact that it would be ne-
"Where the hell is she?!" Volcdramon announced and stomped her lower half in protest. Chibi Moon doll clutched at her side, she was more than ready to throw down. The husband could say with certainty that he had never seen his wife's partner get this angry. While he never told either of them about him visiting Keith and Steve, he had a feeling that Veronica knew. If that applied to her partner, he wasn't sure.
"At work, Volcdramon." Lucas answered and was met with a head shake from the volcanic drake digimon. Fiery tears fell down, burning the grass at her feet but didn't didn't spread.
"No, she's already left and I don't know where." Volcdramon muttered as she continued looking down at the ground. Why did Veronica have to be this way? The only thing she wanted was a place where she could be at her side. That was asking far too much from the HR specialist. Yggdrasil forbid one need to have to compromise in order to get the fullest from their digimon partner. A bridge too far in the eyes of Veronica. "That bitch used me!"
Charging forth a fiery blast, Volcdramon cut herself off at the last moment. Focusing on Lucas, the tears finally stopped.
"I'm not sure if I can answer that, Volcdramon." Lucas answered as he dug his car keys out. Unlocking the vehicle, he slowly headed over. For now, Volcdramon remained on her best behavior. But that could easily change without a hint of warning. All the more reason to put some distance between this place and him. At least until she had finally calmed down. However long that could take the volcanic drake digimon. Squashing that thought for now, he pulled the driver's side door open and sat down. Closing the door, he wasted little time starting the car up and exiting the driveway. Looking ahead, he turned his attention to the open road. Relatively empty, that did little in the way of quelling his anxiety. If anything, it just made the anxiety ramp up even more. The principal had sounded worried when he got the call. Something about Emily turning into a digimon. While the situation was mostly resolved, that didn't change the fact that she wanted a parent to be there in order to pick their daughter up and talk. About what, he couldn't say. Probably something in regards to any similar incidents in the family history and what the heck they should do next. Or in this case, how the heck he was supposed to get through this. Nothing in the way of resources, most likely. The fact that people could even turn into a digimon in the first place was just as worrying. No matter what, he would love his daughter regardless of what form she might take. The scarier question was whether or not Emily could even turn back into a human. If not, then there would be a whole new sphere of task and worries to be dealt with. "I can do this."
Stopping the car at a red light, he used the opportunity to take a couple deep breaths. He and Emily would make it through this mess. Veronica be damned.
"Thinking of me, honey?" a voice announced and the sound of metal being crushed echoed from behind him. Craning his neck to see what the heck was going on, he was met with 'Veronica' standing on a crushed car. Horns pointing upwards, what looked to be claws had formed in place of her nails. Covered in dust and what looked to be the remnants of building materials, her focus hung tightly to Lucas.
"Yes, but I have the feeling that isn't quite you." Lucas announced as the light turned green. Pressing his foot on the gas, the car shot off down the road. Letting off some of the pressure, Lucas felt the car slow down slightly. In times of danger or not, he needed to comply with the rules of the road. At least to the extent when faced with the possessed version of his spouse.
"Too bad. I'm a two for one deal. You get the beautiful female vessel known as Veronica with the wrathful being of Belphemon." Belphemon announced as they ran right behind Lucas's car. Keeping up quite well with the vehicle, that put her well within striking range of the vehicle. Something that Lucas would prefer to not happen. At the same time, he had a front row seat to at least some form of answers. Weren't likely to be satisfactory answers, but still answers nonetheless.
"In that case, have you been a part of Veronica since I met her?" Lucas announced and Belphemon nodded. Holding in her laughter, she tried for a slash at one of the side doors. But all her claws managed to catch was the space right in front of the vehicle. Gritting her teeth, her legs got that much longer. Why did this human have to be so slow and annoying. While both their hearts beated that much faster in his presence, the effect was negated by him being completely useless in every sense of the word. "Did you know that Emily would one day turn into a digimon?"
Silence fell over Belphemon, the vehicle taking this as the opportunity to turn. The school now coming up in the distance, the aura of powerful digimon echoing forth. Invisible to the naked eye, but absolutely crystal clear.
"Would you hate me if you knew the truth?" Belphemon countered and Lucas shook his head. Pathetic. The human was obviously lying through their teeth to save face. He wasn't fooling anyone, let alone her. Which was all the more reason to speak her mind and horrifying him. Just like what happened back at the office. The thought alone was intoxicating, all the more reason to commit it. "Fine then. It was my hope that Emily would turn into a digimon. A bit earlier than expected, I'll accept this outcome."
Her words rolled out and Lucas nearly slammed on the brakes. His ears had to be playing some kind of cruel trick right about now. That had to be it. He wanted to believe that Veronica hadn't planned for this to happen. And yet, he knew this to be the truth. Made it all hurt that much more. He had been used and now, the husband would need to accept the consequences of his ignorance.
"If that's the case, why didn't you turn me into a digimon as well?" Lucas countered and was met with silence from Belphemon. Forcing his gaze back to the road, he did his best to quell the negative feelings swirling around his mind as the entrance to the school's parking lot came up on his right. Pressing the turn signal, part of him debated flooring it for that little burst of speed. Wouldn't do much good. The moment he stepped out of his car, Belphemon would have the upper hand. There were likely many ways for his wife to tear him apart. Maybe if he parked close to the building, he could just make a run inside and hope that Belphemon didn't decide to just follow him. Knowing her, she would absolutely follow.
"Because you would be a useless digimon. Even if I did kill you, the pleasure wouldn't even come close to the energy required to do such a thing." Belphemon announced as Lucas stopped the car. Pulling the key out of the vehicle, he shoved the car door open. Charging for the front door of the school, he didn't even look her way. Didn't stop the fiery black chains from raining down his way. None of them hit their mark, but Lucas didn't take any chances. He would likely not be able to create any distance with his opponent. Instead, he would need to create a distraction and hope that it would be enough to keep her attention on that rather than him. The husband doubted it would work. At least not without some third part swooping in and starting a fight with Belphemon.
"Just a little bit further." he told himself and reached out to the door. Flinging it open, he passed through with relative ease. Belphemon however, chose to pull the door right off of its hinges and hold it in the air with her chains.
"Let me get that for you." she announced and threw the door at Lucas. Watching the door head his way, the husband braced himself for impact. There wasn't anything he could do to st-
Avalon's Gate!
A massive spear pierced through the door, bringing the makeshift projectile back down to earth. Lucas looked over to his right, only to be met with a red dragon with the largest wings he had ever seen. Had to compensate for something here. What exactly, he didn't know.
"Veronica, stop this at once!" a voice called out and a brunette made her way over to Lucas and the dragon. Staring down Belphemon, the woman was met with laughter.
"Natalie, that's Belphemon. She was just pretending to be Veronica." her partner announced and Natalie looked over to Lucas. Met with a nod from the husband, she focused back on Belphemon. Even as a blank expression hung over her face.
"Oh my. I was kind of hoping you would be more surprised." Belphemon countered as more black chains rose up. Making a beeline for both chosen, Natalie's partner raised his spear back up. Charging right for the demon lord of wrath, the result was a stalemate. Neither digimon quite able to get the upper hand and actually land a blow on the other. "But no, you just gave me confusion. How boring. I want you to be in pain! To suffer in front of the revelation that the person you thought was your friend was in fact your enemy all along!"
Natalie rolled her eyes. A shame she didn't have a rock or something of similar shape to throw in Belphemon's direction. It would honestly be a step up from whatever drivel she was shouting her way.
If you weren't such an asshole, then maybe I would be in pain from this revelation." Natalie announced and watched Belphemon's attention turn to her partner. Well as both parts of Examon were right now, it was only a matter of time before one of her partners made a mistake and Belphemon took advantage of it.
Dark Horn!
Headbutting Examon, Belphemon followed it up with a series of scratches. Examon tried his hardest to weather the blow, but it was just too much. Defusing back into Dracomon, the pair made a beeline back over to Natalie. Cowering behind her, that didn't stop them from poking their heads out to keep an eye on the action.
"Is that the best you got? You know, I should raze the school. That would cause quite a lot of pain." Belphemon continued as even more fiery black chains appeared. Growing slightly larger in the process, her smile grew wider. There was little anyone could do to actually stop her at this point. Part of her kind of hoped that they would at least try. Make this far more entertaining and in turn, pain-
Before Belphemon could finish her gloating, she felt a blade stab into her back. Pulling out right after, the demon lord of wrath spun around. Met with Chacha, fury swirled about her mind. The nerve of this bitch to just go and stab her like that.
"If I were you, I would suggest you leave before my godparents decide the hammer is a far easier solution than the chisel." Chacha threatened and twisted her parasol's handle. The blade went away, but could very easily reappear without much trouble.
"Fine then. But do tell Ophani that I have all sorts of fun stuff in store for her partner. I can't wait to play with her once more" Belphemon announced as smoke filled the area. Clouding everyone's vision, the sound of footsteps leading right into a teleport away followed. By no means the cleanest escape, it was still better than leaving oneself out in the open.
"Coward." Chacha announced as the smoke cleared. Looking over to Natalie and Lucas, she motioned for the pair and digimon to follow. But all that the vampiric robot digimon got was a confused look from her audience.
"While I appreciate you coming to our rescue, who the heck are you?" Natalie announced, her partners positioning themselves in front of her. Standing on their tippy toes, they tried their hardest to look threatening. In actuality, it was a lot more cute than 'deadly'. Especially as Dracomon (Blue) looked to be more occupied with adjusting his Sailor Pluto costume than attempting to threaten Chacha here.
"My name is Chacha. I am the 'goddaughter' of Fatemon and Polly Gostelow." Chacha answered and motioned for her audience to follow. That direction was still ignored, even as she began tapping her foot in impatience. "Do you want to see Emily or not?"
Those were the magic words in order to get Lucas to walk over to her. Once he had, the vampiric robot digimon headed on. Not speaking a word, Lucas took the opportunity to look around. Relatively quiet of an area, that just raised his nerves even more. Was he mentally ready for whatever state his daughter was in? Could he look past appearances for the sake of doing everything in his power to give her as good of a life as possible. But he would cross that bridge once he came to it. Right now was as good of a time as any to mentally prepare himself for all that he was going to need to know here.
"We're here." Chacha announced and stepped off to the side. Lucas grabbed hold of the door and pulled it open. Inside, Polly, Fatemon and Mrs Chambers awaited. Sitting in the chairs, Emily right at their feet. Upon seeing Lucas, she lit up and ran over. Bouncing up and down, she didn't come close to reaching Lucas's face.
"I trust that you're Emily's father?" Polly announced and got up from her chair. Scooping Emily up, she set the hybrid in his lap.
"Yes." Lucas answered and stared down at Emily. While far smaller than whatever it was he was expecting to see, that didn't change the fact that this was his daughter. "Is it possible for her to turn back?"
Polly and Fatemon looked away. Much as they appreciated Lucas getting right to the point, did he really need to start with that question. Knowledgeable as they and the other members of Delta were of changing between both forms, only one of them could even be considered a 'natural hybrid' - Elena. The monk magi debated ringing her phone, but it was likely that the gale corsair wasn't even in this world. Not that she had any proof of that.
"It's possible, but we don't quite know what exactly will trigger it. Nor am I the person who should be showing her." Polly continued and Fatemon stood up. Looking over to her partner, a sigh escaped her lips. Tempting as it would be to punch him here, she resisted the urge. Would just make this conversation awkward.
"Our experience when it comes to hybrids is a bit messy. But I'm going to assume that your wife has some kind of digimon form?" Fatemon inquired and Lucas nodded. Cradling Emily slightly closer, the harem mage digimon was right on the money. For better or worse.
"Yes, she's a Belphemon in disguise… and I had sex with her." Lucas whispered, only to be met with staring from Polly and Fatemon respectively. The former was typing something into her phone, while the latter was just trying to keep a straight face in this serious situation.
"Good to know." Fatemon announced and broke his gaze away from Lucas, he looked over to Emily. A pet followed. Emily accepted the gesture, trying her hardest to look up at her father. "I know that this might feel incredibly scary, but we're all here for you. So when times feel tough, just remember that you have friends and they will likely be there for you in turn."
Emily nodded and jumped out of Lucas's arms. Taking a seat at his feet, the husband petted her back.
"I was going to take her home, but it'll probably be best to take her to her uncles." Lucas announced and was met with a nod from Mrs Chambers. Bending down to give Emily a pet as well, she watched the young hybrid look away.
"I've met your uncles quite a number of times. They are actually quite nice people." Mrs Chambers explained and watched Emily look back at her. Then it's over to her father. Scooping her back up, little time is wasted when it comes to exiting. Standing back up, Mrs Chambers let out a sigh.
"Admit it, Freya. You miss her." Polly announced, only to be met with a book thrown her way. Grabbing it out of the air, she set it down on the chair. Then it's right back to staring at her possible opponent.
"How kind of you to wait until this moment to give that secret up." the principal muttered, trying her hardest to quell the thoughts of her beloved bouncing across her head. The nerve of the monk magi. While she didn't mind her name being out in the open, that didn't change the fact the feelings surging across her body could not reach the two people that were so important to her.
"We're buzzkills like that." Chacha announced and left the room. Polly and Fatemon followed right behind, leaving Freya Chambers all to her own. Heading back to her office, her gaze turned to that of the Sailor Neptune clock. Staring in, she took a moment to collect herself. No use in crying over something that was only inevitable. No, better to prepare herself for the fight to come.
"Oh, the stories that I want tell you, my dear Chaos." she whispered and stood back up. Exiting her office, she let her focus shift to getting home. At least until her phone rang. Making sure to answer it, her expression shifted slightly. "It's good to hear you're alright. After that witchmon, I was a touch on edge. Do be careful out there, Sachiko."
