Everything that's happened has been hellish, it's only god damn Saturday and it's going to shit. Derek and I were at the Hale House trying to find a solution. Especially since the text, I got from Scott last night.

Matt's dead. My mom knows about me and you not what we are. Gerard has control over the Kanima. Stay hidden. He wants Derek and the pack. He also wants you. Love you. Scott.

" There has to be something in here." I said as I was looking through a book. I was pulled out as Derek's voice filled my ears.

" You decided. When?" Derek asked the two betas, oh no!

" Tonight." Erica replied as I got up and crossed my arms, this out to be good.

" Everyone's gonna be at the game. We figured it was the best time." Boyd tells us. I feel Derek's anger.

" It's not like we want to." Erica told us, this bitch!

" Why? What do you want out of it!" I asked her as I made my eyes flash.

" Since I just turned 16 a month ago, I wouldn't mind getting my license. I can't do that if I'm dead, you know." Erica told me, this is fucking hilarious!

" Well, I told you there was a price." Derek told her as a reply.

" Yeah, but you didn't say it would be like this." Boyd retorted.

" Yeah, but we told you how to survive. You do it as a pack." I tell them, this is something they agreed to.

" And you're not a pack without an Alpha." Derek tells them as they shift their stances.

" We know." Boyd replied as I took a step forward.

" You wanna look for another pack? How are you even gonna find one? Especially when the Argents are trying to lure any one of us out of the shadows!" I yelled at them.

" We think we already did." Boyd says as I feel my eyebrows lift.

" Like all of a sudden, we heard all this howling. It was unbelievable." Erica says with excitement in her voice.

" There must have been a dozen of them." Boyd explained as I knew where this was going and it is a false hope for them.

" Maybe more." Erica said as Derek sighed.

" Yeah, or maybe only two. You know what the Beau Geste effect is?" Derek explained as the two beta's watch him.

" If they modulate their howls with a rapid shift in tone, 2 wolves can sound like 20." Derek told them the hard science.

" Look that doesn't matter, okay? There's another pack out there. There's got to be. We've made up our minds." Erica said with a hard foundation to her thought process.

" Yeah, we lost, Derek. And it's over. We're leaving." Boyd tells us. I huffed loudly in frustration.

" No. No, you're running. And once you start, you don't stop. You'll always be running." I told them. I hear them leave. Derek places a hand on my shoulder.

" We are failing my love." I said quietly. I see Derek picking up a glass. The motion is fast as I turned around. There stood Peter holding the shard. Derek must have thrown it.

" I expected a slightly warmer welcome. But point taken." Peter said with a smirk, oh great, the devil in the neck arrives! Just what we fucking need!

" It's quite a situation you've got yourself in here, Derek." Peter says as he remains standing where he was.

" I mean, I'm out of commission for a few weeks and suddenly there's lizard people, geriatric psychopaths, and you're cooking up werewolves out of every self-esteem-deprived adolescent in town." He said as he walked to us.

" What do you want?" Derek replied as Peter stood in front of him.

" Well, I want to help. You're my nephew. The only relative that I have left. " Peter replied with a straight face.

" You know, there's still a lot that I can teach you." He said with a small smile as he placed his hand on his nephew's shoulder.

" Can we just talk?" Peter asked him, Derek looked at his uncle's placed hand on his shoulder.

" Sure. Let's talk." Derek said before he threw Peter at the stairwell. I watched for a bit as Derek tossed him around for a hot minute, it was kind of funny but I digress.

" You don't actu - actually think that I want to be the Alpha again, do you? That wasn't my finest performance, considering it ended in my death. I mean, I'm usually more." Peter said calmly.

" Okay, go ahead! Come on, do it. Hit me, hit me. I can see that it's cathartic for you. You're letting go of all the anger, self-loathing, and hatred that comes with total and complete failure. I may be the one taking the beating, Derek, but you've already been beaten. So, go ahead. Hit me if it will make you feel better." Peter said before Derek let him go. I pulled Derek to me.

" After all, I did say that I wanted to help." He said as Derek looked at me then at his uncle.

" You can't help me." Derek told him.

" See? Prime example right here. I'm not healing as fast. Coming back from the dead isn't easy, you know. I'm not as strong as I used to be. I need a pack. An Alpha like you. I need you as much as you need me." Peter said as I felt my anger rising.

" Why would we want help from a total psycho? After everything you did! You bit my cousin! All the people you killed, you put the Argent's on our asses and now you come back claiming you can help!" I yelled before my eyes glowed and I bared my fangs. Derek placed a hand on my shoulder and I calm down.

" First of all, I'm not a total psycho." Peter corrected him.

" And by the way, you're the one that slashed my throat wide open. But we're all works in progress, right? So, we need each other. Sometimes when you need help, you turn to people you'd never expect." Peter explained as I glared at him.

" You tried to build your pack. You tried to prepare for the worst. You weren't ready. Because of it, Gerard is winning. He's taking his time. He's toying with Scott. He's going after your wolves, one by one. He's relishing in his victory." Peter says as I groaned.

" How about you tell me something we don't know?" I yelled as I felt my anger rising.

" Oh, I'm going to. And it's gonna prove why you should trust me. Why you need to trust me. Because I'm going to tell you how to stop Jackson." Peter said as we watched him.

" What do you mean? Know how to kill him?" Derek asked as he looked at his uncle.

" Actually, how to save him." Peter says as I feel my hearing perk.

" There's a myth that you can cure a werewolf simply by calling out its Christian name." Peter says in a monotone voice.

" It's just a myth." Derek exclaimed.

" Sometimes myths and legends bear a hint of truth. Our name is a symbol of who we are. The kanima has no identity. That's why it doesn't seek a pack." Peter explained the lore.

" It seeks a master." Derek replied as Peter smirked.

" And who else grows up with no pack? No identity?" Peter asked us. I already knew what he was doing.

" An orphan." I replied in a low tone.

" Like Jackson. And right now, his identity is disappearing beneath a reptilian skin and you need to bring him back." He replied to me.

" How?" I demanded the answer.

" Through his heart. How else?" Peter said annoyed.

" You know, in case you hadn't noticed, Jackson doesn't really have too much of a heart to begin with." Derek asked his uncle.

" Not true. He'd never admit it, but there is one person. One young lady with whom Jackson shared a real bond. One person who can reach him. Who can save him." Peter said as I picture the strawberry blonde.

" Lydia." I replied with the same chill going down my back from earlier. Someone was going to die.

" Your best ally has always been anger, Derek, but what you lack most is a heart. That's why you've always known that you need Scott more than anyone. And even somebody as burned and dead on the inside as me knows better than to underestimate the simple yet undeniable power of human love." Peter tells Derek, who looked at me, my phone buzzes. I looked to see it was a text from Scott.

Stiles is missing! Scott.

" Oh hell no." I growled as the two Hales looked at me.
