Moonlight Denestu Pt 7 - Conditions of Being a Princess

Volcdramon stared out amid the rubble of her former partner's house. Try as the dragon princess digimon to hold back the memories threatening to flood in. Why did it have to be now of all times? So close to the answers here and yet, the past. Of her one and only moment of getting to see her partner.

They were on a beach. The sun was shining and not a cloud in sight. A perfect time for a person to meet their digimon. Even for someone as young as Veronica at the time.

"Hi there." Volcdramon greeted and watched the young girl play with her Chibi Moon doll. Towering over her, there was no doubt a tiny amount "I'm Volcdramon, your partner."

The young girl stared up, unsure how to react.

"Are you a princess? I only talk with princesses." the girl inquired and Volcdramon stepped back, ignoring the digivice appearing in the girl's hands. Forcing the Chibi Moon doll out, it fell to the ground with a soft 'plump' sound.

"Can I have this doll to understand how to be a princess then?" Volcdramon inquired and felt the doll get pushed her way. Picking it up with her mouse, she cradled the doll to the best of her abilities. That should have been the start of a beautiful relationship. Instead, that was the end. For one reason or another, Volcdramon felt her body get pulled into the air. Looking down upon her human, a variety of thoughts bounced across her mind. Some good, some bad. Had she done something wrong? Was there a defect in her code that the entity who gave out digimon discovered that made this a less than ideal match. Or was this a case of her just being too late. All that and more refused to leave the dragon digimon alone. Yet, one thought in particular trumped all of them. If she became a princess, then maybe Veronica would be allowed to see her again. It was worth a shot.

So began the longest period of her life, scouring the digital world for people to teach her how to be a princess. By no means the easiest task in the world, every victory was well worth the prices she paid to reach this point. At least, that was what she told herself every time a setback occurred along the way. It would all be worth it just to see Veronica happy. What a fool she turned out to be. Not only was Veronica unhappy, she had been replaced by an entity intent on destroying the entire world. While it was possible that the real Veronica was still out there, would she even accept her here? Or was that Veronica so far away from the young girl that the dragon princess digimon met an eternity ago that it was impossible to reconnect once more?

Forced back out into present reality, Volcdramon let out a sigh. There was little use in dwelling on things she could've done while demon digimon rained down on the world.

"Verre, I hope you'll understand the way I feel." she muttered and began digging through the air. The digivice was bound to be around here. Volcdramon highly doubted that Belphemon Rage Mode actually managed to crush it. No, she just wished to make things as hard as possible. To make her suffer for reasons only the demon lord of wrath digimon knew. All the more reason to prove her wrong.

Volcdramon cut that thought off, her claw touching something solid. Grabbing hold, she managed to pull the digivice out. Holding it close to her chest, the device looked to still be intact. Had that going for her here and not much else. Unless one counted the sounds of a motor running. But from where exactly? Scanning the area, her gaze came upon a biker lady on a wicked bike. Yet, something about her felt familiar. Had their paths crossed before? No. Then why did it look like she was heading in this direction?

"Volcdramon?" a voice called out and Volcdramon froze. Watching the bike come to a stop, BelleStarmon got off. Dark Lady doll on full display, that was Volcdramon's cue to curtsey. Holding in the tears, she honestly couldn't find the words. There were so many things she wanted to ask here. What had happened to Veronica? Was she doing alright? Better yet, did she know that Belphemon had attempted to impersonate her?

"I guess I got my princess in the end." Veronica announced and got a look from her partner. Holding the digivice out for the demon lord of gluttony digimon to see, Veronica set a hand on top of it.

"Indeed you did." Volcdramon cooed, craning her neck to meet her partner's gaze. In turn, Veronica looked upwards. "Do you think you can help me here? Belphemon Rage Mode was impersonating you and is now attempting to destroy the world because of me."

Veronica shook her head.

"Don't blame yourself for this mess. This is a complicated mess brought about by complicated things." Veronica answered and watched fiery tears roll down her partner's cheeks. As much as she wanted to wipe them away, she would likely get burnt in the process. The last thing she needed was her hands put out of commission because she didn't think bef-

Veronica's thought was cut off by the digivice glowing red.

'Do you accept each other?'

"Of course!" Volcdramon announced and looked down at her partner. So what if she was both a digimon and a demon lord? She would just work with it.

"Yes." Veronica answered and watched the digivice escape their hands. Rising up into the air, a fiery cocoon of light formed around Volcdramon's body. Reaching for her gun, Veronica couldn't decide whether or not to shoot her digivice. If she did, it was bound to make things worse. No, she should stand guard in case a demon digimon or two decide that they wanted to raise hell and disrupt whatever was happening here. "Volcdramon, are you alright?"

Silence. While normally worrying, something about this felt comforting to her. Like a change that was necessary, even if it didn't make sense at the moment. Yeah. That was probably it. Just a matter of waiting.

Scanning the skies above, Veronica looked for anything in the way of possible opponents. But all she found was small fodder digimon that looked more confused than actually threatening. At least, not counting the man wearing the oversized orange and blue court jester hat. Even with the massive headwear, she could make out bullets sticking out from the man's head. Three to be exact. Beyond that, they looked to have dressed in a blue vest decorated with flames, a plain t-shirt, pants and tennis shoes that came up slightly above their ankles. Oddly, a pair of broadswords of the dao variety were clenched within his hands.

"What do you think you're doing?" the man announced, his voice breaking through the air pressure and altitude in order to reach her and 'Volcdramon'. Forcing her attention away, she watched the cocoon shift and twist. Cracks began to form across the surface, bringing with it the tiniest of peeks in. Volcanic wings flap about in anticipation of getting out, ladylike claws at the ready.

"Dealing with a mess." Veronica announced and made a bomb apoear. Throwing it in the direction of the man, it was frozen in place. Exploding a couple seconds later, Veronica was met with laughter.

"Lucky. That's exactly why I'm here as well. Just the mess that I plan to deal with involves wiping the slate clean." the man announced, more cracks appearing on Volcdramon's cocoon. "I am the Timekeeper, an entity to intervene when the timeline is threatened. For an event of this magnitude, the root of the problem must be wi-"

The Timekeeper's claim was cut off by Volcdramon's cocoon shattering. Fiery light poured out, bringing with it a massive bipedal magma dragon. Adorned in a pink ballgown that nearly went all the way down to the ground, a set of rather imposing molten heeled pumps peeked through from under the dress's hem. A molten tail did its best to remain stationary, not wishing to swing into something and set it ablaze. A set of ruby eyes gaze out at the digivice. The device lowered to her arm, shedding its shape for a metal disc inset within an obsidian bracelet.

"Uh… I guess you can call Volca now, Veronica?" the dragon princess announced, her tone sweet and feminine as the princesses she resolved to be like. Looking at the Timekeeper, an attempt was made to meet his gaze. Sadly, Mr Timekeeper here decided that he would not extend the same courtesy to her. Instead, she shifted her focus over to Veronica. Currently taking in the newly created dragon, a variety of emotions swirled about her mind. Volca was still her partner, but the dynamic had no doubt changed. Now, it was her who needed to follow orders. Not that she particularly minded in the slightest. Though, it would be good to know what the heck her old digivice had turned into. Perhaps knowing that would give some kind of answer to what the heck just happened to them. While nice, she was doubtful of it occurring. Especially not with an asshole fucker like the Timekeeper around. That was the kind of person who kicked your ass, rewound time and then do it all over again. Perhaps even kill you.

"That works for me." Veronica announced and felt her dragon partner scoop her up. Setting the demon lord of gluttony digimon on her shoulder, Veronica took a seat. Feeling the warmth of her partner's shoulder come through, she gazed down on their possible opponent. "Uh…do you know where to go?"

Volca nodded and shot up into the sky. Ignoring the Timekeeper to the best of her abilities, she headed for Steve's house. Already, they could make out what appeared to be a fierce battle against Ogudomon.

"Fuck." Veronica muttered, trying her hardest to not rain bombs down on the creature that stole her life and everything that came with it. No, best to bide her time and figure out if this new digivice had any tricks up its sleeve. "I was honestly hoping that it wouldn't be her."

Volca looked at her partner.

"I'm guessing this is really bad?" the dragon princess inquired and caught a nod from Veronica as her gaze shifted to the strange digivice around her arm. There had to be some kind of way that she could help. Perhaps if she could in some way give Veronica some of her fire powers. Yeah. That felt like the best thing to do here. "Infuse, Gluttony!"

As she said the magic word, an orange outline appeared around her body. By no means creating any heat, it did tingle slightly on her skin. Telling her nothing of what it accomplished, that was something the battle with Ogudomon would likely answer.

"Infuse!" Veronica announced, a fiery outline forming around her body. Such a weird yet comforting feeling. Standing up, her gaze shifted fully to Ogudomon. "Magma!"

Feeling the muffler she wore shift into fiery wings, Veronica jumped off. Shooting off in the direction of Ogudomon. Volca followed right behind, doing her best to find a place to land without crushing

"Ha! Undefeated! Anyone else want to take me on?!" Ogudomon announced, quite confident in her ability to end this fight. Up until she caught a glimpse of her. "Impossible…"

Veronica let out a chuckle.

"You've taken so much from me, bitch. It's about time that I take something from you." the demon lord of gluttony digimon announced and got an eye roll from Ogudomon.

"Sis?" Steve called out, getting treated to a wave from Veronica. Shooting Lucas the most tentative of looks, her focus was back on Ogudomon.

Magma Bullet!

Firing a couple bullets from her twin pistols, Veronica watched the fiery round dig into Ogudomon's skin. Likely not doing anything in the way of damage, it very much brought the literal embodiment of evil in digimon form an immense amount of pain. Not enough to

"I never did like you, BelleStarmon." Ogudomon announced and got an eye roll from Veronica. Really? She thought using her digimon rather than her actual name would somehow get a reaction out of her. Really scraping the bottom of the barrel here. To be expected of someone who was intent on leeching off of others and then taking credit like she had been the driving force.

"I despise you, Ogudomon. The least you could do is own up to the number of Veronica's wasted in your pursuit to find one able to take on the stress of your body?" Veronica countered and watched Volca land. Focusing on her for just a second, she watched a stream of lava shoot out of her mouth. Watching it hit Ogudomon, all that got the group was their opponent pulled over

"Why yes, I took pleasure in killing them. All they had to do was follow my instructions. But no, that was asking too much out of them. They had to rebel at every turn. It almost felt like I was blessed when I found a Veronica who was willing to let me in. Of course, things weren't all smooth sailing." Ogudomon answered and looked at Lucas. Standing in place, the husband met his spouse's gaze. "You just had to fuck me one time, didn't you?"

Lucas stared down at the ground.

"Yes. We agreed to the time and everything, just so it wouldn't get in the way of anything that you wished to do. I used protection and got checked for STDs before and after intercourse. If anything, you should've told me that you were a digimon. That would have been nice to know before we got down to the deed." Lucas announced and found all eyes on him. Figures. Thankful as he was that Steve and Keith kept their mouth shut on Emily's situation, it didn't make this any easier. No, it just ate away at him like the worst kept secret imaginable. One of their friends had to have put two and two together. Yet, they had remained in the dark.

"So if anything, the ball falls in your court." Veronica announced, splitting her gaze between the couple. While that did get her the foot equivalent of a middle finger, it wasn't as threatening as Ogudomon wished for it to be. Even if it had been, she had more than enough tricks up her sleeve to make her think twice of even thinking about doing something dumb. At least, the demon lord of gluttony digimon hoped said tricks would work. There was a lot riding on this moment and almost as many ways that it could all fall apart, leaving ample opportunities for that Timekeeper fuck to swoop through and render it pointless.

"Oh dear brother, I plan to make your death as painful as possible. After all, you denied me the pleasure that I oh so rightfully deserved. All because someone else decided that they needed to get in the way. No more. When I'm done with you, nothing will remain." Ogudomon announced and licked her lips.

Oratio Grandioloqua!

Charging right for Steve, Veronica did her best to close the distance and perhaps cut off Ogudomon from doing whatever it was she was about to do. In this case, trample her brother to death.

"It's been too long… Veronica."

Before Ogudomon could make it to her destination, a massive scythe landed between her and Steve. Looking in the direction of Steve's home, Ophani stood proudly. Looking quite pissed, she was focused on Ogudomon.

"Oh. Now you decide that I'm good enough to fight you? I've already mopped the floor of your friend's digimon. What makes you of all digimon capable of stopping me?" Ogudomon announced, only for Chaos to raise her hand. Pulling it back down a second later, she followed it up with a stink eye. Not that Ogudomon even noticed the gesture, choosing instead to remain focused on Ophani.

"In the name of the moon, I will finish this fight!" Ophani announced and shot up into the air. Landing in front of her scythe, she picked it up and gazed down to Steve.

"You can do it, Ophani." he whispered and watched this battle begin. While he hoped that this would be the final tussle, there was likely to be one more threat that would pop out to create issues for everyone.
