Chapter 38

Izzy's room was filled with the sound of furious typing as the group Digi Destined watched intently. Cody stood beside Ken, who was leaning over Izzy's shoulder, trying to get a better view of what he was typing. Mimi was sitting on the bed, her eyes glued to the screen, while Sora, TK, Davis, Tai, and Kari stood behind them.

Suddenly, a bright light emitted from Izzy's computer, and a portal opened up in the middle of the room. Everyone was taken aback, but before they could react, Matt stepped out of the portal, holding Yolei in his arms.

Yolei looked shaken and scared, and she stumbled as Matt put her down on her feet. Ken, Sora, and Tai rushed over to her, asking if she was okay. Yolei took a deep breath and steadied herself before speaking.

"Matt, they left me there with Daemon, so they could save their own lives," she said, her voice trembling.

Sora steps in front of Tai confronting Yolei, "That's not true you stay behind, so we were not harmed by Daemon."

Ken steps closer to Yolei, but she instinctively steps back and hides behind Matt. "I love you, Yolei. I would never leave you behind like that. Daemon must have done something to your memory."

Yolei glares at Ken, feeling uneasy. "Who would leave the person they love with a monster? All of you stay away from me."

Davis steps forward, trying to reason with Yolei. "You're a Digi Destined, Yolei. We stick together."

But Yolei's eyes meet Matt's, and she pleads with him, "I don't want to be a Digi Destined anymore. Matt, please take me away from here."

Matt's heart aches as he sees the fear and confusion in Yolei's eyes. He takes her hand and leads her out of the room, leaving the rest of the group behind.

As they walk down the hallway, Yolei's grip on Matt's hand tightens. "I don't understand what's happening to me. Why do I feel like I don't belong here anymore?"

Matt stops and turns to face her, taking both of her hands in his. "Yolei, you're not alone. We'll figure this out together. I promise."

Yolei looks up at Matt, tears streaming down her face. "Thank you, Matt. I don't know what I would do without you."

Matt pulls Yolei into a tight embrace, holding her close. "You don't have to do anything alone. We're all in this together, no matter what."

Ken eyes fixed on the window. He watched as Yolei got into the car with Matt and drove away. He felt a lump form in his throat as he thought about how he had failed her. He had promised to protect her, but he hadn't been able to keep that promise.

Davis patted him on the back, trying to offer some comfort. "Give her a couple of days to cool down," he said.

But Ken knew that it wasn't just a matter of Yolei being angry with him. He had let her down in the worst possible way. He had been so focused on defeating Daemon that he had overlooked the danger that Yolei was in. He had thought that he could handle everything on his own, but he had been wrong.

Mimi walked over to him and sat down beside him. "Yolei loves you," she said. "In time, she might forgive you."

Ken shook his head. "But, I will never forgive myself," he said. "I should have done more to protect her."

Mimi put her arm around him, trying to offer some comfort. "You did what you could," she said. "You fought as hard as you could. You can't blame yourself for everything."

But Ken couldn't shake the feeling of guilt that he felt. He knew that he had let Yolei down, and he wasn't sure if he could ever make it up to her.

It was a beautiful day in the Digital World. The sun was shining bright, casting a warm glow on the lush green trees and the vibrant flowers that dotted the landscape. The air was crisp and fresh, filled with the sweet fragrance of blooming flowers and the soft rustling of leaves.

Daemon walked through the forest, his eyes fixed on the house where he had trapped Yolei. He had been watching her for days, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike.

As he approached the house, he could sense her fear. He could feel her trembling inside, her heart racing as she tried to escape. But he knew that she was trapped, that there was no way out.

The door creaked open, and Daemon stepped inside. The air was thick with tension, and he could feel Yolei's apprehension. He pulled out a small green vial from his pocket and held it up.

"Good morning, Yolei," he said, his voice smooth and controlled.

Yolei stepped back, her eyes narrowing. "It's not that good," she said, her voice trembling slightly.

Daemon smiled, a cold and calculating expression. "So, you chose the hard way, lovely."

Dark Ken entered the kitchen, his eyes fixed on Yolei. She tried to back away, but Daemon was too quick. He grabbed her by the arm and forced her to drink the green liquid.

Yolei screamed in pain as her body twisted and contorted. She fell to the floor, writhing in agony. Daemon and Dark Ken watched with a detached curiosity as Yolei transformed into a beautiful Digimon with human features. Her skin was tinted purple, and she had dark purple hair that flowed like silk. Gray feathered wings sprouted from her back, and her eyes glowed with an otherworldly light.

Daemon chuckled. "Beautiful, isn't she?" he said, his eyes fixed on Yolei.

Dark Ken nodded, a small smile on his lips. "She's perfect," he said, his voice low and husky.

Yolei lay on the ground, her breathing ragged and uneven. She looked up at Daemon and Dark Ken, her eyes filled with fear and confusion. She didn't know what had happened to her, but she knew that her life would never be the same again.

As Daemon and Dark Ken left the kitchen, Yolei lay on the floor, her mind racing with questions. What had they done to her? Why had they chosen her? And most importantly, how could she escape from this nightmare?

Yolei was mesmerized by her new appearance. She looked at herself in the reflection of the window and was amazed at how beautiful she looked. She had never seen anything like it before.

Daemon walked over to her and held out his hand. "Come, my love," he said. "We have worlds to take over."

Yolei took his hand and stood up. She felt a surge of power coursing through her body, and she knew that she was ready to take on whatever challenges lay ahead.

As they walked out of the small house, Yolei looked around and saw that everything had changed. The sky was dark, and the air was thick with the smell of smoke and ash. The ground was cracked and barren, and there were no signs of life anywhere.

Daemon led Yolei through the desolate landscape, and she could feel the weight of his hand on hers.

Dark Ken walked behind Daemon, holding Yolei's hand as they made their way through the dark and twisted landscape of the Digital World. The three of them had just defeated the last of the Digi Destined and had gained full control of the Digital World. But now, their sights were set on a new goal: the real world.

Daemon turned to Dark Ken and said, "We have full control of this world. Next, we will take on the real world."

Dark Ken nodded in agreement, but he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He had always been hesitant about their plans to conquer the real world, but he knew that he had to follow Daemon's lead.

"When will we depart the Digital World?" Dark Ken asked.

"First, we must teach Yolei to use her new powers," Daemon replied. "She is the key to our success in the real world."

Yolei looked up at Daemon and Dark Ken, her eyes wide with wonder and fear. She had been hesitant to join them at first, but Daemon had promised her that she would have the power to change the world. And now, she was beginning to understand just how powerful she could be.

Matt looked over at Yolei, who was still staring out the window with a melancholic expression on her face. He knew she was upset about something, but he didn't want to pry. Instead, he simply asked if she wanted him to take her home.

Yolei shook her head. "No, can we go to your apartment?" she asked quietly.

Matt raised an eyebrow in surprise. He had never been alone with Yolei like this before, and he wasn't sure what to make of her request. But he knew he couldn't leave her alone in this state, so he nodded and turned the car in the direction of his apartment.

As they drove, the silence between them was palpable. Matt could feel the tension in the air, and he knew that Yolei was struggling with something important. He wanted to help her, but he didn't know how.

When they arrived at his apartment, Matt walked Yolei into his loft apartment, a cozy space with an open floor plan that combined the kitchen and living room. A flight of stairs led up to his bedroom, which was visible from the living room through a glass railing. Yolei looked around, taking in the modern decor and the view of the city outside.

"Nice place," she said, trying to sound casual.

"Thanks," Matt replied, gesturing for her to take a seat on the couch. "Can I get you anything to drink?"

Yolei shook her head. "No, I'm okay."

Matt showed Yolei inside and offered her a seat on the couch. She sat down and looked up at him with tear-filled eyes.

"I don't know what to do," she whispered. "Everything feels so overwhelming right now."

Matt sat down next to her and put a comforting arm around her shoulder. "You don't have to face it alone," he said softly. "Whatever it is, we'll figure it out together."

And with those words, Yolei broke down in tears. Matt held her tightly as she cried, feeling a sense of protectiveness and compassion that he had never experienced before.

Matt sat on his couch, his arm wrapped around Yolei's shoulders. As they sat there, talking about everything and nothing, Matt's cell phone rang. He glanced down at the screen and saw that it was his Tai calling.

"I'm sorry, Yolei," he said, giving her a reassuring smile. "I need to get this."

Matt walked into his kitchen, leaving Yolei in the living room. He answered his phone, only to hear Tai's voice on the other end. Matt's heart sank as he knew this was about to be a difficult conversation.

"What Tai?" Matt asked, trying to keep his voice calm.

"I know Yolei is with you tonight, Matt," Tai said, his tone serious. "But she's Ken's girlfriend. You can't just take her away from him like this."

Matt felt a pang of guilt wash over him. He knew that Yolei and Ken were together, but he also knew that she was going through a tough time. He had invited her over to his apartment to lift her spirits, not to cause any trouble.

"I can't promise anything, Tai," Matt said, his voice low. "But she's here with me tonight. I'll make sure she's safe."

Tai sighed on the other end of the line. "Just be careful, Matt," he said. "I don't want this to cause any drama."

Matt walked into the living room, his phone still in his hand. As he sat down on the couch, he noticed Yolei rummaging through his desk drawer. He watched her for a moment, curious as to what she was searching for.

Finally, Yolei pulled out a photo and held it up to Matt. It was a picture of the two of them at one of his band practices. Matt smiled as he remembered that day. Yolei had been interested in music production, and he had invited her to come to the practice to help them mix their first track.

"I remember that photo," Matt said, his eyes fixed on the image. "That was after you helped us mix our first track."

Yolei smiled, but then her expression turned curious. "Why did you keep this after all these years?" she asked.

Matt thought for a moment before responding. "I guess it's because that day was special to me," he said. "It was the start of something big, you know? And you were a part of it."

He looked into her eyes and felt a rush of emotions. He turned to her and said, "I forget sometimes how beautiful you are, then I look into your eyes, then I remember." Yolei blushed and smiled. She had always been self-conscious about her looks, but Matt's words made her feel special. She leaned in and kissed him on the cheek.

Matt gently takes Yolei's hand and leads her back to his couch. They sit down, and Yolei looks at him with a questioning expression. "How long have you loved me?" she asks.

Matt looks at her, his heart beating fast. He takes a deep breath and says, "I've loved you for a long time, Yolei. I just never had the courage to tell you."

Yolei looked surprised, but also touched. "Why didn't you tell me?" she asked.

Matt shrugged. "I don't know. I guess I was afraid of what you would say. And then you started dating Ken, and I thought it was too late."

Yolei shook her head. "It's never too late," she said. "I've always felt something between us, too. I just didn't know if you felt the same way."

Matt couldn't believe what he was hearing. Was this really happening? Was Yolei really telling him that she felt the same way he did?

Before he could say anything, Yolei leaned in and kissed him. It was a soft, gentle kiss, but it sent shivers down Matt's spine. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her closer, deepening the kiss.
