Hey, everybody. I'm back with another chapter.

So this chapter will cover various events from Breath of the Wild, but altered to hint at Link and Zelda's relationship. It will jump from event to event, so be prepared for that. Also, just fyi, when Link unlocks the horse park memory (which i probably actually won't show) he will only remember as far as he did in the game. He will not remember him and Zelda getting engaged.

Also, this chapter will be shorter than the previous ones.

Let's get to it.

edboy4926: I'm sorry, but I just couldn't work either of those concepts in with the direction I wanted this story to go. I wanted to explore the idea of them being separated by the events and having to find their way back to each other. However, I will confirm that the next Zelda story I will be posting, which I'm already working on and will be posting within the next few days, will be centered around the idea that they succeeded in defeating Ganon when he first appeared. So, you can look forward to that very soon, and I hope you can still enjoy this one.

Guest: This is a Zelda fanfiction. Stop asking me to make a Star Wars-Star Trek crossover.

Chapter 5- Awakening

"Open your eyes. Open your eyes."

Link slowly feels his eyes sliding open. He can feel that he is resting in a liquid of some kind, and above him is some strange technology. "Wake up, Link." He hears the voice again, rousing him a little further.

Link lies there for a moment, trying to get his bearings as he feels the water recede. He feels the air cool on his skin, and realizes he is not wearing a shirt or trousers, only his undershorts, that somehow he knows were designed to help him wear armor more comfortably. But as he realizes this, he realizes something else. He cannot remember anything. He can't recall anything, anything about who he is. Only his name, and of course how to speak and other basic things about how to function as a person. But he has no idea where he is, what he's doing here and how he came to be here, or anything about himself except his own name.

Link slowly props himself up on his elbows and looks around. He is in some kind of chamber, resting inside a tank of some kind. A large device is above him, reaching up to the ceiling. The wall is decorated with strange patterns. Link looks around the room, and then sees a pedestal of some kind ahead of him. Lines of blue light criss-cross across the top of the pedestal. Something in him tells him maybe this is important.

Link carefully stands up from inside the tank. Below his feet, the floor is relatively smooth. Link looks ahead at the pedestal and walks up to it. As he reaches it, the lines suddenly glow brighter for a brief moment. Then, a circle in the center lifts up and spins 90 degrees. Then, something that is resting right in the center, which Link had not noticed before, is suddenly propped up from the pedestal. It looks like some kind of tablet, with the image of an eye in the center.

Suddenly, Link hears the voice again. "That is a Sheikah Slate. Take it. It will help guide you after your long slumber." Link looks up for the source of the voice, but sees nothing. Yet, he can't help but feel like that voice should be familiar, and significant, to him. Especially as the tone with which it is speaking is one of familiarity.

Link looks down at the Sheikah Slate and carefully picks it up. As he holds it, he turns it around to see the back. As he looks at the back, it suddenly seems to power up, displaying the same eye design, but entirely colored blue.

As Link turns it back over again, he suddenly notices something. A ring resting on the fourth finger of his left hand. Link examines the ring. It is relatively plain. Just a simple gold band. But when he rotates his hand a bit, he can see a glyph etched into it. For some reason, looking at the ring brings a warm feeling over him.

Then, he hears a grinding. Looking up, Link sees the door of the room opening up. He slides the Sheikah Slate onto the hooks attached to a belt he just now realizes he's wearing, and walks through it, still wondering where he is, and how to find out who he is and why he cannot remember anything. And most importantly, what this voice is that he is hearing.

Link stares at the ghost of King Rhoam. The spirit of the king had just shared with him the story of what had happened to the land he was in, apparently called Hyrule. He shared the story of what had befallen the kingdom, where the monster he had seen at the castle had come from, and how he had come to be here. Needless to say, it was all quite hard to digest that this was his history, but at the same time, something within him told him that the king was not lying, and he had decided to accept this as truth.

The king looks at Link, having just finished instructing him on the steps he should take gain a greater understanding of the situation, and better prepare himself for the task of taking on Ganon. He had also just given him the Paraglider that Link would need in his travels, especially to descend from the Great Plateau. But, the king has one last message to share with Link.

"Link, Hyrule depends on you. As does my daughter. And you must know, I do not rebuke you. I have changed much since the Great Calamity, and I realize my wrongs. Tell my daughter that I now approve, and I believe she made the right choice," the king says. He looks intently at Link for a moment before he says, "Protect her, and make me proud, my boy." And then, his ghost fades away.

Link stands there, wondering what to make of the king's last words. He can't shake the feeling that his words have a much deeper meaning than first may seem.

Link looks at Impa as she finishes giving him instructions. She had further elaborated on what King Rhoam had told him at the Temple of Time, and iterated that he needed to free the Divine Beasts.

"You are Princess Zelda's only hope…and Hyrule's, as well. You cannot turn back now. Follow your heart and seize your destiny!" Impa says to him passionately. She then pauses for a moment before she says, "Link, there is much you do not remember. There is much that I can tell you. Some, I will tell you in time, but some would be to your detriment to know just now. But you will know in time."

Link looks at her in confusion. Impa looks at him for a moment before she says, "Not yet, young hero. But someday soon. You carry all the keys you need to unlock your past. Some are within you, some without. But your past will return to you."

Link waits for Impa to explain some more, but she does not. Resolved that he will have to search for more answers on his own, Link bows his head in respect to Impa, and turns to leave.

Link looks up at the Great Deku Tree as the ancient tree speaks to him about the Master Sword that he had just managed to pull from the stone where it was resting, and about Princess Zelda.

The Deku Tree pauses for a few moments, then says, "Young hero, the Princess entrusted something precious to me. But it is something I cannot give to you until the Calamity has been defeated. When the Calamity has been defeated, return here with the Princess. And I shall entrust to you what she left in my care."

Link is quiet for a moment before he speaks and says, "I will return."

"Good," the tree responds simply.

Link stands there. With some of the memories he has managed to recall, he is really starting to think that something major had happened to Zelda before the Great Calamity…something that may have involved him. He hopes that as he continues his journey, perhaps he will one day figure out the puzzle that seems to continue to be built in his mind.

Link gasps a bit as he comes back to himself, having just recalled another one of his lost memories. He had come to Sanidin Park while exploring the west, and had identified that as one of the spots shown in the photos stored on the Sheikah Slate from when Zelda had used its Camera. As he had found the spot where the photo was taken, Link had managed to recall a memory of when he and Zelda had come to this place, the day before her 17th birthday, where Zelda had told him she was going to go to Spring of Wisdom on Mount Lanayru.

As Link comes out of the memory, he looks around a bit, scanning the park. There's something he can't place when he's here. Just that he has some significant tie to this place. But what it could be, he's not sure. It couldn't have to do with the memory he just recalled, could it? There was nothing particularly of note that he saw in that memory. So why does he feel such a connection to this place?

And, I'll end there. I know, shorter, but I just wanted to give some teases.

Now, next chapter will show Link actually start to recall his relationship with Zelda, and their wedding.

Next chapter will be up soon. Until it is up, please leave a review, and stay tuned!
