Chapter 7- Reunited

Link feels the wind on his face as he feels himself solidifying after teleporting out of the chamber where he had fought Ganon. As he looks around, he sees that he has appeared on the plains of Hyrule Field. He also sees that Lightning, his horse, is standing just a few feet from where he appeared.

Link hears a whisper in his head. Slowly, he turns around, Lightning turning with him, and both Hylian and horse see a massive whirlwind of Malice behind them. As they do, Link can hear the whisper, but now more loudly and more clear. His heart skips slightly as he again recognizes Zelda's voice, saying the name Ganon again and again.

Then, Link sees movement within the whirlwind of Malice, and a form beginning to take shape. As this happens, he hears Zelda saying, "Ganon was born out of a dark past. He is a pure embodiment of the ancient evil that is reborn time and time again." As she finishes that sentence, Link sees two massive, hooved feet appear out of the swirling Malice and plant themselves on the ground.

Then, with a loud, bellowing roar, the rest of Ganon's form surges up and out of the swirling clouds, revealing that he has taken on the shape of a titanic boar-like creature, with what looks like flames of Malice burning across his back. As this form appears, Link again hears Zelda, saying to him, "He has given up on reincarnation and assumed his pure, enraged form. If set free upon our world the destruction will be unlike anything ever seen before."

This dark beast form of Ganon rears up before slamming its front feet down again, bellowing in anger and hate. Lightning rears up and whinnies, but remains by Link's side. Link silently expresses his gratitude for his horse's bravery and loyalty.

Then, Link hears Zelda saying again, "I entrust you with the Bow of Light, a powerful weapon in the face of evil." Link looks upwards and sees the Bow of Light descending from the heavens, glowing brightly.

Again, he hears Zelda's voice in his head, but this time softer and even more familiar. "Link, you may not be at a point where you have regained all of your memories…but courage need not be remembered, for it is never forgotten…..come back to me."

Link's heart skips a beat as he hears those words again, and then he firms his face. Link grabs the saddle horn and swings himself up onto Lightning's back. He leans forward a bit and pats the horse on its neck. "Let's go, boy. Let's get her back," Link whispers to the horse, who snorts as if in agreement. Link then snaps the reigns with a loud "Hyah!", and Lightning rears up before taking off at full gallop towards Ganon.

The Bow of Light rests right in Link's path, hovering above the ground. Link grabs the bow, ignoring the Royal Bow he had been using before. Link guides Lightning slightly right to go up Ganon's left side before squeezing the horse's side with his legs slightly to steady himself as he readies the Bow of Light. Link sees Ganon gathering a ball of energy in its mouth, and quickly aims the Bow of Light at Ganon's face. Concentrating and ensuring the arrow is ready, Link lets an Arrow of Light fly. However, to his disappointment, the arrow seems to vanish amidst the flaming Malice on Ganon's face.

Ganon fires a beam of energy from his mouth in retaliation. Link spurs Lightning even faster and manages to evade the beam. As he does, Link hears Zelda's voice in his head, speaking to him urgently, "That energy covering Ganon's body is Malice, in its purest form. None of your attacks will get through as he now is. I will hold the Malice back as much as I can, but my power is warning. Attack any glowing points that you see! May you be victorious!" As he hears this, he hears both the hope and desperation in Zelda's voice. His throat chokes with emotion, but he forces himself to remain calm, knowing he cannot falter in the slightest.

Ganon turns towards Link and fires another beam of energy, but Link guides Lightning out of the way. As he does, he suddenly spots three large circles of light appearing on Ganon's left side. "Now, Link!" comes Zelda's voice.

Link snaps the reigns and spurs Lightning faster. As the horse gallops towards Ganon, Link raises the Bow of Light. Taking aim at the first glowing circle, he tries his best to hold himself steady as Lightning gallops over uneven ground. Centering himself, Link releases his first arrow. The arrow flies straight into the circle, and the circle bursts apart, a small eruption of Malice flying out from the spot. Ganon roars in pain as the arrow strikes. Link then takes aim at the second circle and fires, hitting it on the first shot. He then repeats the process with the third.

Ganon is now roaring in pain, but is far from out. He starts turning to try and find Link, but Link continues circling the beast. After several long moments, he hears a chiming sound and sees three more circles appear on Ganon's right side. "I'm holding it back. Hurry, Lin!" Zelda cries out to him.

Link spurs Lightning forward. As Ganon's right side comes into better view, Link takes aim and fires. His first arrow just misses when Ganon shifts position slightly, but his second arrow strikes true. Link then shoots out the remaining two circles within seconds. Ganon again bellows in pain from the powerful arrows of light.

"Good! We're almost there!" Zelda exclaims.

Link is again forced to spur Lightning even faster as Ganon turns around and spots Link, firing a beam of energy at him. The energy justs misses the two of them. Lightning whinnies in fright, but presses on.

A second later, a glowing circle appears on Ganon's belly. Link turns Lightning towards Ganon, and spurs him underneath the massive beast. Ganon, confused at where they went, begins to turn to look for them, but Link is already under his body. Drawing back the Bow of Light, Link fires an arrow right into Ganon's belly. Ganon bellows in pain as Link and Lightning come out from under him.

"We're almost there!"

Link looks back at Ganon as he gallops away on Lightning's back. Then, he sees something. A glowing light, right in the center of Ganon's back. "Link, look!" he hears Zelda's voice cry, making him look closer. Sure enough, Ganon's back begins to open up. At the same time, the sky is turning red, like at a blood moon.

"That is the very core of Ganon's being! Do what you must, Link!" Zelda cries out.

Link slows Lightning down before he leaps off the horse's back. Looking up, he sees what looks like a massive eye in the middle of the gap in Ganon's back, just like the eyes he saw within the Divine Beasts amidst pools of Malice. Link crouches down, and then reaches within himself, summoning the gift he received from Revali. A second later, he releases it and soars upwards in a powerful updraft with the help of his Paraglider. As he reaches the right height, he stows away the Paraglider, and then quickly raises the Bow of Light. Taking careful aim, Link takes a deep breath, and then releases the arrow.

The arrow strikes right in the center of the glowing eye, and Malice seems to erupt out of the gap in Ganon's back as the beast roars in pain. Link brings his paraglider back out, drifting down towards the ground as Ganon thrashes in pain.

Then, something shoots out of the breach in Ganon's back. A glowing ball of light. Link looks at it more intently, and sees the form of a young woman amidst the light. As the light fades somewhat, the girl's appearance becomes more clear. And Link's breath seems to stop as he recognizes her.

"Zelda," he gasps, hardly able to believe he's seeing her again.

Zelda slowly lowers to the ground in front of Ganon. The demon faces her down, trying to stand his ground against her. However, after only a few seconds, waves of power begin to radiate from Zelda, freezing Ganon in place. Zelda raises her hand, which begins to glow. Ganon roars and struggles against Zelda's power, but the princess' power is now at its full strength.

Ganon roars as Zelda's power blasts away at his physical form. In a matter of seconds, Ganon's terrifying form dissolves, unable to stand against Zelda's power, reducing him back to the snake-like phantom that he often appeared as since his return 100 years ago. The phantom tries to climb into the sky, but Zelda unleashes her power again, and the beast roars as it feels Zelda pulling on it. Desperate, the phantom dives to attack Zelda, but is stopped in its tracks as Zelda unleashes her full power. Zelda is surrounded in blinding yellow light, and an image of three triangles of light arranged in a larger triangle appears around her. Ganon roars as the light continues to expand, forcing it further away from Zelda. With a final roar, Ganon's form disperses into mists of Malice. The light then collapses in on itself, sucking all the Malice with it until it all disappears.

Link stands there, watching in awe at the spot where Ganon vanished. It is not until the red clouds disperse and the sky begins to return to normal that he allows himself to breathe again. At last…Ganon is defeated.

After a few moments, Link is snapped out of his daze as he spots Zelda, standing in the middle of a patch of tall grass, unmoving since she destroyed Ganon.

Link's heart seems to be skipping every other beat as he slowly approaches Zelda. After a century, they are finally reuniting. But what does he even say to her after a hundred years? Does she still feel the same way? Have her feelings changed?

As Links nears Zelda, who is still standing with her back to Link, he hears Zelda's voice, "I have been watching over you all this time." As he hears her voice, truly hears her voice, for the first time since his awakening, he feels his heart leaping for joy.

Zelda pauses for several long moments before she speaks again, saying, "I always thought-no, I always believed that you would find a way to defeat Ganon." Zelda then turns around to look at Link. As she does, Link can see tears in her eyes. She looks at him and says with a voice full of emotion, "I never lost faith in you over these many years. Thank you, Link-the hero of Hyrule."

Link and Zelda stand there in silence for a moment. The tears then begin to run down Zelda's cheeks as, full of fear and trepidation that she about to have her heart broken, Zelda asks, "May I ask…do you really remember me?"

Link is quiet and still for a moment, and then slowly begins walking towards Zelda. He walks towards her until he is standing right in front of her. Then, he slowly reaches up with his right hand, the hand on which he wears his wedding ring, and touches her cheek. Zelda looks at Link, hope in her eyes but yet fearful of what is about to happen.

Then, Link speaks and says softly, "I remember…everything, Zelda…my love." Zelda begins to cry, hope surging with her. Then, Link smiles slightly and says, "And you're as beautiful as always."

Zelda lets out a cry of pure joy, tears streaming down her cheeks, and she throws her arms around Link, sobbing into his chest from pure happiness. Link smiles as he falls to his knees to better support Zelda and holds her tight. For several minutes, the two just sit there, holding each other and allowing Zelda to cry. At last, the young couple has been reunited after a century.

After several minutes, Link can no longer stop himself, and desperately wants to look back into her eyes. He reaches out and lifts her chin up, allowing him to once more look into her beautiful eyes. As he truly sees her eyes once more, he feels a surge of love and affection for his long lost wife. "Oh, Zelda. Remembering our love…has brought me so much joy. I do not remember everything from my old life, but I remember that I love you with all I have." He then leans down and gently kisses Zelda.

Zelda lets out a laugh of pure joy and kisses him back with more passion than any other kiss she has ever given him. She kisses him back with so much passion and force that Link actually falls backwards. The two fall into the grass, but Zelda could care less. She just holds Link as tightly ever and continues kissing him.

It's almost a minute before the two finally separate, but still with a hand on the other's face. The two sit there in silence for a moment before Zelda says, her voice full of emotion, "Link…you are my world. I was able to hold Ganon back…because you were on my mind every second of it. The thought of you is what gave me strength these past 100 years." She pauses, then says amidst her tears, "And now, I can finally live my life with you."

"Yes. And I swear to you, I am going to do all I can to build a good life in this changed world for you," Link says in response.

Zelda laughs happily and kisses him again, the two lost in their love for each other and the joy of their reunion.

And, I'll end the chapter there. I hope this was a good reunion.

Now, I'm going to say this now. This story is nowhere near done. I have a lot more planned for this story. I am also preparing to start my second Zelda story, so keep your eyes out for it.

Also, for the name of Link's horse, I chose it because when I play Breath of the Wild, I always use the white horse that's descended from Zelda's, and I always name it Lightning, so I thought why not use it here.

Alright, next chapter will be up soon. Until it is, please leave a review and stay tuned.
