The morning light coming from her uncovered window glared against Megan's eyelids, making her groan as she finally woke up. She covered her face with her arm to block the sun while she sat up in her bed, yawning. She brought her arm down and rubbed her eyes for a moment before pulling back and glanced over at Stefan, who was still sleeping.
Megan smiled at the sight of him, unable to help herself from gazing at him. He looked so peaceful when he was sleeping. Using her hand, she slid her fingers over his face as if she was memorizing every inch of it. Megan was sure she was looking at him in awe. It still amazed her this gorgeous man was hers, sometimes she had to pitch herself to make sure she wasn't dreaming. Megan sighed dreamily as she rested back down and propped her head up with her hand and her elbow, so she could continue gazing at him to her heart's content.
He shouldn't be here with her, especially since she had spent the night at the Gilberts in the guest room, but Charlene hadn't said anything when he had snuck into the guest room. Her best friend was understanding since they hadn't been able spend much time together in the last three days, trying to keep Demetria off their back. She wasn't sure how Jenna would feel about this, but she found herself not caring as it was tough sleeping without Stefan as she was used to him sleeping beside her. Shaking her head, Megan continued her gazing as her boyfriend woke up from his sleep, but his eyes stayed closed while he spoke.
"You're staring." Stefan mumbled.
"Mm, correction, I'm gazing." Megan said with a smile. "Staring and gazing are two different things." They really weren't but she was sticking with that excuse.
"It's creepy."
"If creepy means romantic, then yes it is." Megan giggled. Stefan finally opened up his eyes only to grab the extra pillow behind him and covered his face with it as if that was going to stop her from gazing at him. She pouted at him as she laughed at his antics, even though he couldn't see her, but she was sure he could feel it though. "Hey! Who said you could cover your cute face."
Laughing again, Megan took the pillow off his face. Then her laughter turned into giggles as he rolled on top of her, pressing her against the mattress and kissing her passionately. She moaned into the kiss, and she deepened it further, her mouth opening and allowing his tongue inside. Their tongues tangled and moved together in a dance that sent shivers down her spine and warmth between her legs. She could have kept kissing him like this but both of them needed to breathe eventually. Stefan was the first one to break the kiss only to start leaving open mouth kisses against her neck.
Groaning, Megan ran her fingers through his hair as she arched her head back to give him more access to her slender neck. "Mm…we really shouldn't be doing this…" she muttered, while one of his hands slid up the front of her tank top, his fingers spreading against her stomach.
"Mm…we really shouldn't…" Stefan mumbled in agreement, but continued kissing her neck. He didn't want to stop as much as she didn't.
Megan moaned a bit as her boyfriend sucked on her skin for a moment. "I mean…if Demetria finds out…"
Stefan pulled back, his face pulling a confused expression. "Demetria who?" He grinned as she laughed, and he brought his lips back to hers.
Of course, she kissed him back. She guessed it wouldn't hurt to make out for just a little bit longer, and so they did. Eventually, Megan had Stefan on his back, and she reluctantly pulled back his mouth.
"I really need to get into the shower." She sighed, not wanting to. She wished she didn't have to leave this bed.
Stefan perked up at that. "Love it, let's go!"
Megan giggled at his response, shaking her head. "As much as I would love that, and I trust me I would, I need to get ready to go to the Lockwoods for that charity thing." At this moment, she wished she hadn't signed up for it, but at least Charlene and Elena would be doing it with her.
"Well, what do you know? So am I." Oh, and Stefan was going to be there too. Unfortunately, they wouldn't be around one another, considering they were 'fighting' and taking a 'break' from each other.
Megan rolled off of Stefan and sat up, worrying her bottom lip. "Are you sure it's a good idea for you to be there? I mean, Mason Lockwood tried to kill you."
Sighing a bit, Stefan scooted up the bed until he was in a sitting position as well. "I don't trust Mason. I want to be there today to keep an eye on him."
Megan nodded in understanding, even though she didn't like it. "Alright, just be careful." They sat there in silence until she remembered something. "Oh right…" She got out of the bed, disappearing into the guest bathroom, but she wasn't gone long as she returned to the bedroom with a needle in her hand and she climbed back into the bed with Stefan. "Well, since you're gonna be there, just remember no gazing and definitely no touching whatsoever." She teased.
"No, none of that." Stefan said, giving her a smile as he brushed her hair out her face before rubbing her arm up and down.
Megan smiled at the gesture before she frowned in thought. "I know it's the last thing we want to happen…but what if Demetria finds out about our fighting being fake? I mean, even Charlene figured it out, and I didn't even tell her."
"True…it's still something to worry about." She said, but decided to leave it at that. Not wanting to be too concerned about it as Demetria wasn't going to find out. Glancing at the needle in her hand, she remembered why she had gotten it in the first place. That in mind, she pricked her index finger with it, watching as blood appeared. Stefan had been doing such a good job drinking the little bit of human blood she would give him, even though they hadn't been doing it for long. Megan winced at the feeling of the sharp needle digging into her skin.
"Does it hurt?"
"Just a little, nothing I can't handle." Megan waved off his worry, giving him a smile. "It's worth it if it gets you stronger." She was happy to help Stefan with this, especially since she didn't have the chance to help the last time as he had kept the whole blood thing a secret from her. "Besides, it's just a little bit of blood." She held out her hand towards him and he took it, drinking the blood off her finger. She watched him as her mind vaguely wondered how it would feel if he actually bit into her neck to get the blood he needed. Of course, she wouldn't ever ask him to do that, but if he needed to do it that way, then she wouldn't care if he did.
After he finished, Stefan pulled back, but he still kept a hold of her hand only to slide his fingers through her own, giving it a squeeze as he looked into her eyes. "I promise you; we'll get through this."
Megan's gaze on him went soft and loving at those words. "I know." She said quietly. "I love you."
"I love you too."
She smiled at his response, unable to herself from kissing him passionately. There was no words to say about how good it felt to be as loved as she did.
Elsewhere, around the same time as Stefan and Megan, Abigail Pierce giggled into the kisses Mason Lockwood was giving her as they rolled on the bed she was sleeping in. She was staying a little bed and breakfast in Mystic Falls along with her sisters, but she had her own room while Katherine and Demetria shared theirs.
Even though she wasn't really interested in Mason, she could admit to herself he was fantastic in bed, not as good as Damon, but it was better than nothing. It had been a long time since she had sex so she was taking what she could get. The sex was probably the only good thing that happened from listening to Katherine. Abigail's thoughts were broken by Mason rolling onto of her and pressing her against the mattress, making another loud giggle escape her.
"Mason…" Abigail moaned his name as his hands began exploring her body and his mouth kissed her neck.
His hands made their way up to her breasts, squeezing them, earning another moan from her. They didn't stay there for long as he let go and moved down her body, kissing down her stomach. His beard tickled her skin, making her giggle.
"Shh." Abigail shushed him with smile as he stopped and looked up at her before moving back up her body to touch her face. She brought her own hand up to his mouth, brushing her thumb against his bottom lip. "We need to be quiet." She whispered seductively. "I'm not in the mood to be caught with a man in here by Mrs. Flowers. Don't need her thinking I'm some kind of floozy." Even though she kind of was, but that was besides the point.
"Why are you staying here?"
"Well, I like it here." Abigail answered. She tilted her head to the side, fluttering her eyelashes at Mason. "I mean, don't you like it?"
He grinned. "I love it."
She grinned and giggled as she flipped him over on his back, kissing him. She bit his bottom lip before sucking it into her mouth. It made him moan and she smirked against his mouth. After kissing him for a while, she broke it only push him back down on the bed and kissed his chest, making Mason laugh.
Abigail grinned at the sound of it and started to explore the rest of his torso with her mouth. But as much fun as this was, she needed to get back to the task at hand before Katherine got onto her for getting distracted. Abigail pulled back and looked at Mason.
"So, you said you found the moonstone…so where is it?" she questioned.
"Somewhere safe."
Abigail frowned at the vague answer. "That's not much to go on, Mase." Then, she pouted. "I thought you trusted me."
"I don't trust anyone."
"I think you're just afraid that I'm going to end up killing you." Abigail smirked, tracing his face with her fingers.
"You won't." Mason said smugly.
She might not, but Katherine sure would if Mason didn't tell her where the moonstone was.
Instead of saying anything though, Abigail simply smiled and kissed him once before going down to kiss his neck. She felt his pulse beating against her mouth, so she couldn't help her face from changing as she bit into his neck, drawing blood.
Mason winced. "Ow! Abby, easy!" Mason winced.
She pulled back, licking the little bit of blood she had on her mouth. "Sorry…" She apologized, meaning it. She kissed where she bit him at as she sucked to sooth the bite and he moaned in response.
"What…what happens once I give you the moonstone?" Mason managed to ask.
Abigail stopped, looking up at him. She knew exactly what would happen once she and her sisters got it. She contemplated on telling Mason the truth and she gave it some serious thought, but decided to lie to him. Telling him the truth wasn't worth the risk of Katherine finding out about it.
"We'll leave here and start our new lives together." Abigail told him, sounding so serious she almost believed her own lie.
Mason smiled brightly at that. "I'll bring it tonight, I promise."
She smiled back and said nothing for a moment while her eyes softened at him as she stared at him. "I love you, remember that…okay?"
"I love you too."
Abigail kissed him and her heart broke a little as she did, wishing things could be different.
Charlene headed downstairs, and spotted Jeremy opening the front door. "Where are you off to?" she questioned, catching her brother's attention.
"Uh to the boarding house." Jeremy answered, looking, and sounding nervous. Charlene wasn't sure what he was nervous about though.
Shrugging it off, she went to stand in front of her brother. "I'll drive. I was gonna head over there to check on Caroline anyway before I head over to the Lockwoods."
"You…really don't have to."
"I might as well, we are going to same place." Charlene said, grabbing her keys. "Unless there's a reason why I can't come." She eyed Jeremy suspiciously.
"I…" Jeremy trailed off, sighing. "I guess not."
Charlene smiled brightly. "Okay, great." She went out the front door, missing the look on Jeremy's face.
It didn't take too long to get to the boarding house, and Charlene got out of her car. She watched as Jeremy practically raced to the front door, making her frown at the sight. What was so important at the boarding house he needed to get to right away? Maybe she'd get that answer while she was here. Charlene joined Jeremy up at the front door not long after and her brother knocked on the door.
Damon opened the door, blinking in surprise.
"Hey, I came over to check on Caroline." Charlene explained, stepping inside. "Is she doing alright? And how about Liz? Is the vervain out of her system?"
Before he could answer any of her questions, Jeremy cut in, "I need to talk to you."
Damon looked at him in disbelief, along with Charlene. Why did Jeremy need to talk to Damon?
"And why do I need to talk to you?" Damon asked dryly, and tried to close the door on him, but Jeremy pushed it back open.
"Tyler Lockwood has to killed someone to activate his werewolf curse." He said quickly. "He's not a werewolf yet."
Charlene's mouth dropped slightly. She hadn't expected that one… After the initial surprise wore off, her mouth went into a frown. Why and when did he get involved?
"Wow, fascinating." Damon said sarcastically. "Not enough." He tried again to shut the door on him, but like last time, Jeremy shoved the door back open.
"But Mason Lockwood is and he's looking for a moonstone, a special rock connected to the werewolf legend. That's why he's here."
Damon looked intrigued now, and Charlene's frown deepened, not that it was noticed by either of the two men. "A moonstone?"
Jeremy nodded. "And I know where it is."
"And you're bringing this to me why?"
"Do I need a reason?" Jeremy shrugged before looking at Damon seriously. "Look, I just want to help, okay?"
Finally, Damon looked over at Charlene with raised eyebrows. "Did you know anything about this?"
"Nope." Charlene answered shortly and Jeremy winced. "Who said it was okay for you to get involved in this? And don't lie to me." She added when Jeremy opened his mouth.
At this, her brother sighed. "Uh okay…Megan gave me the go ahead."
"Seriously?" Charlene smacked herself in the forehead. "I'm gonna kill her when I see her." She grumbled.
"Don't tell her I told you. She just told me to do what I wanted to do, but she wanted nothing to do with it. And I don't care if you don't want me involved. I want to help. Please just let me help." Then he did the one thing Charlene could never say no to.
The puppy dog pout.
Charlene groaned in frustration. "Fine. You can help…" she agreed begrudgingly. "But I'm still gonna kill her…"
Jeremy grinned. "Thank you!" He turned to Damon. "So, are you going to let me in or not?"
Damon glanced at Charlene, and she nodded, getting him the okay. He sighed as he stepped out of the way, allowing Jeremy inside.
"Jenna, thanks for wrangling the volunteers." Carol Lockwood smiled at Elena and Charlene's aunt as Jenna stacked something things together.
"Of course." Jenna said, smiling back at her. "It's for a good cause. Plus, I've always been a sucker for the Masquerade ball."
Carol nodded. "So was Richard." She sighed as memories of how excited her late husband got when they got stuff ready for the ball. "This was always his favorite party of the year."
Matt and Tyler carried a table into the room, and nearly dropped it.
"Wait, wait, wait, Tyler!" Matt exclaimed as Tyler tried to walk forward and Carol looked over at them immediately.
"Boys! Be careful with that!" She scolded. "It's from the 1800s." Shaking her head, she muttered an excuse me to Jenna and started towards them. "Tyler!"
Her son rolled his eyes. "Mom, we got it!" He tried to reassure her as he and Matt regained balance of the table and this time, they moved it carefully.
Jenna watched this take place with an amused smile before she went into another room. She spotted Stefan heading her way.
"Stefan, hey!" Jenna greeted him with a smile.
"Hey."
She crossed her arms over her chest. "I'm cooking dinner tonight. Ric will be there, and Megan's coming over to eat too, as she normally does when I cook." She laughed.
Stefan smiled, then shook his head. "You know, uh, Megan and I, we're kind of taking a…" he trailed off for a minute before continuing awkwardly, "A pause."
"Really?" Jenna asked with a knowing grin.
"Yeah."
"Because that's not what it sounded like this morning." Jenna teased, and Stefan looked like he didn't know what to say to that as he pulled a confused look on his face, but she gave him a look, not fooled the least bit. "Light sleeper." She explained. "You know what? I heard nothing." She smiled at the relieved look on Stefan's face, then she took off to help with other things.
When they got the Lockwood mansion, Megan separated from Stefan and missed him already even though they hadn't be apart for too long. She met up with Elena and they were walking outside together, giggling, and talking animatedly with one another.
"By the way, where's Charlene?" Megan asked Elena, surprised she hadn't seen her blonde best friend yet, but she shouldn't have been. Charlene was always late, even when she tried not to be.
"She went to go check on Caroline, to see how she's doing with everything." Elena responded. "She said she'd be here soon."
"Oh good." Megan sighed in relief. "I love the Masquerade ball, but the setting it up part is killer." Elena nodded in agreement. "The only thing that makes this bearable is you and Charlene are gonna be tortured too."
Elena sniggered, and Megan grinned over at her. From the corner of her eye, she saw Bonnie up ahead, carrying a rather large box. Megan perked up at the sight of her sister.
"Bonnie!" she exclaimed, racing over to her. "I didn't know you were going to be here." They hadn't seen each other in what seemed like forever, but it was kind of her fault. Ever since Bonnie found out about Caroline, Megan felt a little awkward around her sister. She knew how Bonnie felt about vampires and was trying not to get her involved anymore, and unfortunately that meant not seeing each other as much.
"Yeah I am." Bonnie said as Megan stopped in front of her with Elena beside her.
"Good! I'm glad you came. We haven't seen each other in a while." Megan smiled, taking out a few candles from the box Bonnie was carrying.
Bonnie said nothing, but looked like she wanted to as she glanced around the yard, as if she was looking for someone.
Which she was, Megan figured she was looking for Caroline and she sighed, running her fingers through her hair. "Caroline's not coming. Remember I told you that already."
Bonnie shrugged. "I was just making sure."
Elena frowned at her. "You know, eventually, you're gonna have to talk to her."
"Elena's right, Bon." Megan said, agreeing with Elena. "She's your best friend. It's hurting her feelings that you aren't talking to her because she's a vampire."
Bonnie stared at them in disbelief. "Could you guys make it less obvious that you're on her side?"
"There's not any sides, Bonnie…why would you think that?" Megan inquired.
"Come on!" Bonnie rolled her eyes. "Since Caroline became a vampire, we barely see each other." She said quietly. "Losing Caroline was bad enough; I didn't think I'd lose you too."
Megan looked at her sadly. "You haven't lost me, Bonnie. That would never happen."
She hated her sister thought that, but she didn't blame her. It definitely looked and sounded that way. Well, that was going to change. Megan took the box from Bonnie only to put it down on the ground and she grabbed onto her sister's hand.
"Come on."
"Where are we going?" Bonnie asked as Megan started to drag her away.
"Going somewhere to talk…privately." She explained, but said nothing else on the subject as they walked off to find somewhere to talk.
