Megan was still in the living room, watching Friends reruns on TBS, while Elena was upstairs in her room, probably writing in her journal. She laughed at the pivot scene came on the screen. At least she had Friends to keep her company while she was stuck in here.

Suddenly, she heard some noise coming from another part of the house, and she got up off the couch to go investigate. Turned out it was only Aunt Jenna, searching through one of the closets next to the stairs.

"What are you doing?" Megan asked, getting Jenna's attention.

She smiled at her. "Oh hi, perfect timing."

"Hard not to when I could you hear from in the living room." Jenna laughed as she handed her a box. Megan looked down at it, seeing all kind of files inside. "What's all this for?"

Jenna explained, "It's Elena and Charlene's mom's files for the Historical Society."

"Oh."

"I got roped into helping Mrs. Lockwood and by roped, I mean very excited to participate." Jenna closed the closet door, and Megan jumped, nearly letting out a gasp at the sight of Elijah. Well, shit.

Elijah looked at Megan and smiled at her. "Hey, I'm Elijah." He was using a fake American accent. Weird.

Megan managed to smile back, but it was an awkward smile. "I…I'm Megan." She tried not to sound nervous. "Nice to, uh, meet you."

"Elijah's in town doing research on Mystic Falls." Jenna explained.

"Oh…well…that's cool." Megan laughed, unable to stop the nervousness this time.

Elijah got closer to her, and she forced her not to take a step back. "It's pleasure." He held his hand out towards her.

Megan let herself grasp his hand and shook it once before quickly letting go of his hand as if it was on fire.

"So…" Jenna started, missing the awkwardness in the room. "You're welcome stay here and rummage through this stuff, or I could get my niece, Elena, and we could help you load it into your car."

"Or I could get someone to pick it up." Elijah suggested.

Jenna laughed. "Also a good plan."

Elijah smiled. "Thank you for inviting me into your home, Jenna." His smile turned to Megan, and he nodded at her. "Megan." He took off and Jenna followed him to see him out.

Once they were gone, Megan ran upstairs and rushed over to Jeremy's bedroom door, banging her fist on it. She would have called his name out, but Elijah appeared and grabbed onto the hand, knocking on the door. Megan froze at the sight of him. Jeremy opened the door causing Elijah to hide behind the door and he put his finger to his mouth, signaling her to be quiet.

"What is it?" Jeremy asked.

"Oh, Jenna wanted me to tell you and Elena to help with these boxes downstairs." Megan lied.

"Okay." Jeremy closed the door, heading downstairs.

Megan took a deep breath and let it out before slowly turning her body to face Elijah, gulping.

He smiled at her. "A wise choice."

Megan licked her lips. "What do you want?"

"I just thought it was time for us to have a little chat."

She nodded, too nervous to disagree with him. She didn't know what he had to talk to her about, so she wondered what it was.

They went into the guest room, and Elijah was the first one to speak up.

"Forgive the intrusion." He apologized. "I mean, your family no harm."

"Says the man who tried to take my best friend and my cousin away." Megan said as she crossed her arms over her chest, unable to help the sarcastic sentence from flying out of her mouth. He looked at her surprised but didn't say anything. She pressed on after seeing he didn't do anything to her for what she said. "So, why did you kill those vampires when they tried to take us?"

"Because I didn't want you three to be taken. Klaus is the most feared and hated of the originals, but those that fear him are desperate for his approval. If word gets out the doppelgangers exists, there'll be a line of vampires eager to take you three to him, and I can't have that."

This earned him a confused look. "Why's that? I thought that's what you were trying to do hence trying to take Charlene and Elena."

"Let's just say that my goal is to not break the curse."

Megan frowned. "Then what is?"

"Klaus' obsession has made him paranoid. He's a recluse. He trusts those only in his inner circle."

"I'm guessing your one of them?" She watched as his eyes flashed with emotion, but it only lasted for a brief second.

"Not anymore."

"So, you don't where he is either, do you?" Megan frowned in thought. "So, I guess you were trying to draw him out by using us."

"Well, to do that, I need you three to stay put and stop trying to get yourselves killed."

"Excuse us for wanting to save our friends." Megan scowled a bit. Of course there's another person who didn't get why they were doing what they were doing. "Besides, how do I know you are even telling the truth? I don't even know you enough to trust you."

Elijah nodded. "I realize that, but if I wasn't being truthful, all your family would be dead, and I'd be taking Miss Elena to Klaus right now." He said, and Megan could admit he had a point. "Instead I'm here and I'm prepared to offer you a deal."

"What kind of deal?" Megan asked, narrowing her eyes at him.

"Do nothing. Do nothing, live your life, stop fighting and then, when the time is right, we will draw Klaus out together, and I shall make sure your friends remained unharmed."

It would be stupid of her to not take the deal, but Megan still wasn't sure. "I don't know…what happens after we draw Klaus out?"

"Then I kill him."

"Really?"

"Yes. I'm a man of my word, Megan. I make a deal; I keep a deal."

Megan said nothing for a moment as she stared at him, seeing if that where even an ounce of him lying. When there wasn't any she said, "Let's just say I decide to trust you and take your deal…how exactly do you plan on keeping my friends safe?"

"I notice you have a sister; Bonnie, is it? She seems to process the gift of magic. I have friends with similar gifts."

"Mmm…" Megan was really thinking about this deal hard. If Elijah really could protect all their friends and keep them getting used and killed breaking the curse, like she said before, she would be stupid to pass it up.

"Together, we can protect everyone that matters to you. So do we have a deal?"

It took her a moment to speak. "We have a deal but…I would like something from you before I shake on it."

"We're negotiating now?"

"Definitely." Megan grinned at him.

Being stuck here in the boarding house definitely had its perks.

Charlene was currently sitting in the living room with a blood bag in one hand and one of Damon's bottles of bourbon in the other. She took turns drinking from each of them. Mixing the blood with the alcohol tasted weird at first, but she was used to it now, considering she had been doing this for hours. Ever since Megan offered the idea up to her. Thank god, she was a vampire, or else she would be drunk as shit.

Finishing up, Charlene sat down the blood bag and bottle down on the table in front of her before she stood up from the couch, heading into the foyer just as Damon came inside, looking upset. Something must have happened.

"What happened?" she asked.

"I don't want to talk about it." Damon responded shortly, and he took off, brushing past her.

"Wait!" Charlene went after him, following him into the library. She grabbed his shoulder managing to stop him in place. "C'mon, what happened?"

Damon turned to look at her, looking like he was going to tell her now, but he stopped. From over his shoulder, Charlene saw that Rose was standing there behind them.

"Rose, you're back." She said, surprised. She thought they wouldn't see her again, considering Elijah was still alive.

Rose gave a brief smile. "I am."

Damon, however, didn't look happy to see her. "You can't just stay away, can you?"

"You don't answer your phone."

"What do you want?"

Rose stepped forward towards him. "I wanted to apologize."

He scoffed, "Just admit it. You have nowhere else to go."

"I'm sorry about Charlene." Rose briefly glanced at the blonde. "I wasn't thinking straight. I didn't know that all three of them had a death wish."

Charlene wanted to speak up and say it wasn't that they had a death wish, they just didn't want their friends to get hurt, but she kept her mouth shut. This seemed like a conversation that needed to be had between Damon and Rose.

"But I called you…" Rose went on, "I tried to make it right, okay? I'm sorry Damon. And I have nowhere else to go."

"There's nothing here for you, Rose."

"Well then…"

Suddenly, there was a loud noise coming from the living room. It sounded like glass breaking.

"What was that?" Charlene asked, startled by the sudden noise.

Instead of waiting for an answer, she along with Damon and Rose went to go investigate. As soon as they were in the living room, a large wolf lunged through the window, shattering glass everywhere.

Charlene's eyes went wide as the wolf started towards her. She stayed frozen in her spot.

"Charlene!" She heard her name being cried out by Damon just as she was shoved out of the way. Briefly she was able to see it had been Rose who had pushed her.

"Rose!" Charlene found her voice as the wolf got on top of the older vampire's body and bit into her shoulder.

Rose let out an ear-piercing scream as she struggled against the wolf's large body. Charlene scampered up to her feet and was able to run over there to help Rose. Just as she was about to, Damon used the sword he had in his hand and stabbed the wolf in the side hard. The wolf howled in pain before it jumped away where it came.

"Are you okay?" Damon asked her worriedly.

"I'm fine." Charlene responded quickly before rushing over to Rose and went down to her knees beside the older vampire. "Oh my god, are you okay?" Despite what happened between them, she couldn't help but be worried about Rose, knowing what it meant to bit by a werewolf.

Damon went over to there too, getting on his knees on the other side of Rose. "How bad is it?"

"It hurts." Slowly, the bite on Rose's shoulder started healing.

"Look, it's starting to heal." Charlene pointed out with a relieved sigh.

"Oh my god…I thought a werewolf bite was fatal! I thought…" Rose started crying in relief.

Damon hugged her, surprisingly. He cared about her. Charlene thought she would feel jealous at this realization, but she found herself not, probably because she knew Damon felt only friendship with Rose.

"You're going to be okay." Damon reassured her, letting her cry into his shoulder.

Charlene reached over and squeezed Damon's hand. She really hoped Rose would be okay, but she was sure there was nothing to worry about. The wound of healing after all.

Abigail had been surprised her and Stefan were getting along. Ever since she had gotten Demetria to leave him alone, she thought she would just leave and hide herself back in the further part of the tomb, but he had asked her to stay, and they had been talking ever since. Back in 1864, they had never really talked to one another for some reason or another. She honestly didn't know why he was talking to her now after everything that happened between her and Damon. However, she wasn't complaining. It was nice to talk to someone that wasn't either one of her sisters.

Demetria had stayed away from them for a while, but seeing how chummy her and Stefan seemed to be getting, she couldn't help but return over there, jealous eating at her.

"So you'll talk to Abigail, and not to me?" Demetria demanded, unable to stop the jealousy from seeping in her voice.

Abigail rolled her eyes. "Well, maybe if you weren't so annoying maybe he would talk to you."

"Shut up Abigail." Demetria snapped. She glared at her sister before she returned to look at Stefan. "Come on, just talk to me."

"If we really have to talk, then how about we talk about how you regret all you've done to make my life miserable?" Stefan suggested, looking at her.

Demetria scoffed. "Why talk about something that I can't change? I honestly really don't know what you want to be say about it anyway. Do you want me to stay sorry for what I've done? Well, I'm not sorry. I'm not going to apologize for something I'm not sorry about. We were looking out for ourselves."

"Look where has it had gotten you."

"I know I've done terrible things, Stefan. I'm not going to deny that. I never have, but I've never lied about how I feel about you. I do love you. I know you don't believe me, and you don't have to believe me. It's not going to change how I feel about you."

"You want me to believe you?" Stefan stood up from his seat and started to walk over to her. "Show me. Do something. Prove to me that there's something inside of you that's actually worth trusting."

"What's that going to do? You're still going to hate me."

Stefan shrugged. "Maybe." He said, "And maybe I'll see that there's still hope for you after all."

Demetria's eyes narrowed at him. "You're trying to manipulate me?" she accused.

"Am I?" he retorted.

"You want to find Klaus? So you can kill him so that you can protect your little friends?"

"Let me guess you know where he is."

"Unfortunately no. I could help you find him though."

Stefan gave her a look. "With a price I'm sure."

Demetria shook her head. "Not this time." She told him. "I'll help from the goodness from my heart." She ignored Abigail rolling her eyes at this. "I would start with Isobel, Elena's mom. She researched everything about vampires including Klaus, and she did find us too. You're welcome." She smirked at him as they both looked at each other.

A frightened gasp, which sounded like Katherine, echoed through the tomb, and all of them went to investigate. Abigail and Demetria froze at the sight of Elijah standing outside of the tomb.

"Elijah…" Abigail breathed as Demetria moved closer to her, shivering in fright.

Katherine gulped as Elijah's gaze met hers.

He actually smiled at her, but in a way that made her shiver. "Good evening Katerina. Thank you for having the sense to be frightened." He looked over at Stefan. "Your release has been requested."

Stefan looked at him, confused. "What? By who?"

"The lovely Megan drives a hard bargain. However, we reached a peaceful agreement, she and I. Please." Elijah gestured for him to come out. "Come."

He hesitated though, "I can't."

"Yes, you can. I've had the spell lifted."

Before he started to leave, Stefan looked back at Abigail and made a decision that probably would piss off Damon. "Before I leave, can you allow Abigail to get out?"

Abigail looked up at Stefan, startled by his request. "What?"

"You got to be kidding me!" Demetria exclaimed in disbelief.

Elijah was surprised too, and he frowned, staring intently at Abigail. She gulped at his stare, but she didn't look away. She found herself hoping he would allow Stefan's request. If he did, she wouldn't be able to believe it.

"Fine." Elijah finally said. "But get out of here as soon as you get out." He warned. "Go ahead."

Stefan reached out his hand towards Abigail and she took it. Together, they left the tomb. As soon as they got out, Katherine and Demetria rushed to leave, but the barrier was already put up.

With one last smile towards Stefan, Abigail took off, using her vampire speed to get out of there quickly. Elijah went over to Katherine and Demetria and started to compel them both.

"As for you two, however, you should not exit until I say so." He said to them, "When Klaus comes, he'll want to know exactly where you are." He turned his head to look at Stefan. "You're free to go. Megan will explain the arrangement to you. If she keeps her word, I'll keep mine." With one last look towards Katherine and Demetria, Elijah took his leave.

"Please Stefan." Demetria tried to beg. "Don't let him keep us in here. Please. I told you how to find Klaus, at least let me go." She ignored the look Katherine gave her.

He said nothing for a moment. "Goodbye Demetria." He gave her one last look before he took off, leaving the remaining Pierce sisters in the tomb.

Once Elijah left, Megan stayed in the guest room, standing in front of the window to look out for Stefan. She hoped Elijah stuck to his word and got Stefan out of the tomb. Suddenly, Megan saw Stefan's reflection in the mirror causing her to whirl around to find him standing in the doorway.

"Hey." Stefan smiled at her.

Megan squealed in delight at the sight of him and she ran over to him, throwing herself in his arms. He returned the embrace, pulling her as close to him as he could. She pulled back and kissed him happily. He retuned her kiss eagerly as he picked her up, allowing her legs to wrap around him.

He put her on the bed, resting his body on top of hers. They continued to look, and Megan smiled into his mouth, happy to find have him back.

The Descent, Part 1

Another chapter done and finished. I love that I'm getting out these chapters so quickly. Probably because I'm just ready for Klaus to show up :D I'm getting more and more exciited for that, considering Klaus won in the poll of what original should have a romantic interest in Charlene, so I'm excited to see how that goes. Anyway, please leave reviews and let me know what you thought! Until next time!
