Disclaimer: I do not own the Vampire Diaries and never will, but I do own Charlene Davis and Megan Swann and any other characters I come up with.

Author's Note: Hope you love the updated version! :D

Caroline stepped out of her house, turning around to lock her front door. Then, she turned back around only to find Tyler leaning back against her car and she bit her bottom lip at the sight of him, remembering what happened last night she saw him last. He had kissed her, and she knew they had to talk to each other about what happened, but she didn't know what to say about it. She still went over to him and he met her halfway until they were standing in front of each other.

"Hey." Caroline greeted awkwardly. "How's it going?"

He crossed his arms across his chest and stared at her. "We need to talk."

Getting right to chase, huh? Caroline sighed as she fixed her bag over her shoulder. "Yeah, we do." She said, "Listen…I've been thinking about it, and I don't want to over analyze it. It was just one kiss, but Matt's still kind of in the picture. We can't go there, Tyler." Don't get her wrong the kiss was great, but if there was still a chance her and Matt could get back together, she wasn't going to let one kiss ruin that.

"Fine."

"Great." Caroline smiled. "Then it's settled." She moved past Tyler to get to her car and unlocked it. She was about to get inside but she stepped walking at the sound of Tyler's voice.

"What happened to my uncle Mason?" His tone was deathly serious.

Caroline slowly turned around to face him. "What?"

"He's dead, and I want you tell me what happened."

"I…I don't…"

Tyler slowly stepped towards her. "Then let me tell you: Stefan and his brother Damon are vampires, just like you." He said with gritted teeth.

"Who told you that?"

"Is it true?"

"Let me explain." Caroline tried.

His voice shook slightly as he asked, "Did you know he was dead this whole time?"

"Please…" Her eyes started to well with tears.

"Did you know?!" Tyler yelled at her angrily.

Caroline closed her eyes briefly before she finally nodded. Unable to hold back anymore, he grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her angrily against her car.

"I'm sorry, Tyler, I'm sorry." Caroline pleaded with him.

"I trusted you!" he growled. Despite being angry, he hated seeing the look on her face, so he managed to reign his anger enough to let go of her and he stormed off, leaving Caroline there, stunned and upset.

While Damon was in the shower, Charlene was settled in his bed, watching the news. She played with the ends of her wet hair as she watched news reporter Andie Star give her report. As she spoke, Damon entered the room with only a towel wrapped around his waist. Once he was in the bedroom, Charlene wasn't paying attention to the news anymore, focused on her hot boyfriend's half-naked body. It didn't help that he was still dripping wet from the shower. Charlene groaned in response, getting Damon's attention.

"Do you have to be so distracting? I'm trying to watch the news." She grumbled.

"Oh you know I'm way more interesting than the news." Damon smirked. He had a point there, but Charlene still rolled her eyes.

"Sure you are."

"Come over here and let me prove it."

His smirk widened as the blonde took his challenge and moved over to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and bringing him down for a heated kiss.

Damon smirked into the kiss as he returned it just as heatedly. Charlene moaned, pushing her body against his. His fingers ran through her wet hair before tangling them in her strands as he deepened the kiss. Then his hands left her hair to bring them to her hips while her hands moved to remove the towel around him. The fabric fell to the ground before Damon hoisted her up, allowing his girlfriend's legs to wrap around his waist.

Groaning, Charlene cupped his face as she slid her tongue across his bottom lip. He immediately gave her entrance into his mouth and started a battle for dominance. As they fought, Damon pushed his hips into hers.

"Mmm…" She groaned as she bucked against him. This got a smirk out of Damon and his hands went down to cup her ass only to squeeze her there, causing her to squeak in response. It let Damon win the battle.

Charlene pouted against his lips. "Daaamon, that wasn't fair."

"Life isn't fair." He told her with a smirk as he broke the kiss only to start leaving kisses along her pale neck.

"Well still." Charlene pouted again, tipping her head back to give him more access to her neck. He took full advantage of it. She moaned as he sucked on a certain part of her neck that made her eyes roll back.

Tired of standing up, Damon zoomed over to the bed and pushed her body against the mattress. Charlene arched her body up against his. Using his knee, he parted her legs so he could settle himself in between them while she reached down one of her hands to guide him to her entrance. Before he could push himself inside of her, her cell phone started ringing on the bedside table.

"Ignore it." Damon mumbled into her neck. "Just ignore it."

"Mm…I can't. It could be important." Knowing she was right, he groaned and rolled off her before getting out of the bed to grab the towel off the ground as Charlene answered her phone after seeing it was Megan on the caller ID.

"Hey." She said brightly with a smile, but it fell at the sound of Megan's voice.

"Yeah, so something happened." Her best friend said nervously.

Charlene sighed as she ran a hand down her face, not liking the sound of those words. "What happened?"

"So, uh, you know how Stefan was going to call Isobel…well he called her and…"

"Let me guess she's here." Charlene sighed.

"No. Worse. Uncle John."

Hearing this, she groaned and looked at Damon, who had a look of disbelief on his face. He had heard.

Charlene smiled weakly.

Not wasting any time, she said goodbye to Damon before using her vampire speed to get over to her house. She stood there staring at the door, wishing she didn't have to deal with this right now. However, she knew Elena probably wasn't taking the fact that John was here, and she needed to be there for her sister.

Charlene entered the house and went to the kitchen, finding John watching the news. The same one she had been watching.

"What are you even doing here?" Charlene demanded, making herself known to her uncle.

John shut off the TV and turned around to face her. "Charlene, good morning." He smiled at her. "I see Elena told you I was here."

"No, it was actually Megan, but I'm sure my sister would have gotten around to it after she got over the fact that you're here." Charlene said, crossing her arms over her chest. "Again, why are you here?"

He didn't say anything as he poured a cup of coffee and held it out towards her. "Coffee?"

"No. I don't want coffee. I want to know why you're here."

"Good luck." Elena said as she came into the kitchen with Megan by her side. They both went to stand on either side of Charlene. "We've been trying to get him to answer that question all morning."

"But he wants to be a stubborn asshole and has been avoiding the subject." Megan added, crossing her arms as she glared at John. "Which by the way is getting old, so just do us all a favor and answer the damn question. So again, why are you here?"

"I'm here to protect Elena along with you and Charlene. That's all I can say for the moment."

Megan looked at him in disbelief. "Seriously?"

"What do you mean that's all you can say?" Elena questioned, staring at her father.

"I'll tell you guys more when I'm convinced I can trust you."

Charlene, Elena, and Megan shared looks of disbelief with each other. If anything, he needed to be able to convince them that they could trust him, not the only way around. Before anything else could be said, the voices of Jenna and Alaric could be heard.

"Oh god. I'm late."

Alaric laughed. "That's what you get for hitting the snooze three times!" They came into the kitchen, and they stopped, stopping John.

Jenna looked at him surprised. "What the hell?"

"Good morning to you too, Jenna." John glanced over at the other man in the room. "Alaric…"

"It's okay I'm confused, right? Because we were not expecting you, like, ever."

"Well, I got in late last night. Elena and Megan let me in."

Jenna glanced over at them, and Megan smiled sheepishly at her.

"You know…" Alaric started to say. "I'm, uh, probably just gonna take off." He gave Elena, Charlene, and Megan one last look before he took off, leaving all of them alone to deal with their family situation.

"I'm still confused here."

"I decided to come back and stay awhile." John explained.

Jenna's face hardened. "Not here, you're not."

"Actually, you can't stop me from living here."

Charlene rolled her eyes internally.

"Actually I can, as legal guardian." Jenna stated, crossing her arms.

"Yeah, about that…" John glanced over at Elena. "Um, Elena, you want me to explain the situation, or would you like to do the honors?"

Knowing what he meant, Charlene flashed him a look of warning. "John…"

He ignored her as Jenna spoke up, "Okay, what's going on?" She demanded.

Elena didn't know what to say and Charlene reached down to grasp her hand. This caused her sister to look at her.

"Go ahead, Lena." Charlene told her softly. "You can tell her."

The brunette said nothing for a moment as she took a deep breath and let it out before answering Jenna, "I'm sorry Jenna…I should have told you earlier but…"

John interrupted Elena before she could finish. "I'm Elena's biological father, and Charlene and Megan's uncle. There now you know." Without waiting for a response from Jenna, he took off, leaving them to deal with their confused aunt.

Thanks a lot John, and here I thought him just being here was bad enough. Charlene glared at the spot where John once was before returning her attention to Jenna, who looked at them all in disbelief.

"What?"

Standing in his brother's bedroom, Damon looked at Stefan with a look of disbelief on his face. "You brought back John Gilbert?" he said in exasperation, making it sound like a question. "That's your big 'Save Elena' move? This is even more insane than you letting Elijah let Abigail out of the tomb!" He didn't know what his brother was drinking to think both of these were good ideas.

Stefan shrugged, ignoring the last sentence. He didn't regret doing that one bit. "I went to go look for Isobel, and I get John instead." He explained simply. "He said he can help us, and we're desperate."

"We're not that desperate, Stefan. The guy tried to barbecue me and Charlene!" That especially made Damon weary to trust John.

"Damon, Bonnie's new witch friend is working for Elijah, so we have to assume the moonstone was never destroyed." Stefan said, trying to get his brother to see his side of the situation. "Megan is putting all of her faith into some deal she made with Elijah to keep everyone safe. I mean, do you trust Elijah? I don't trust him. He's an original, he can't be trusted. It's not like we can go up and kill him, because apparently he can't die!"

Damon still wasn't convinced. "I'm still waiting for the part where John Gilbert is the answer."

"He knew about the sacrifice, Isobel told him. He said he knew of a way to keep Elena safe."

"And how do we do that?"

"He's not talking." Stefan told him with a frown. "At least not to me anyway."

Damon scoffed. "Great work, Stefan. Top notch." He scowled, taking a big swing of the bourbon in his hand. "As if I didn't have enough problems."

Stefan said nothing for a moment before a sympathetic look crossed his face. "Hey, I'm sorry about Rose."

"Whatever." He brushed it off, closing himself off. He might have been willing to let Charlene see how much he cared about Rose, and how sad he was she was gone, but definitely not in front of his younger brother. "I knew the woman for five minutes."

"And you cared about her after five minutes." Stefan reminded him. "I wonder what that means."

Damon gave him a sarcastic smile. "It means I care, Stefan. It means I'm changing, evolving into a man capable of greatness." He took another drink before pulling the glass away, and giving Stefan a small smirk. "Better watch your back, because I may just have to go get a hero-hairdo of my own, and steal your thunder."

He left the bedroom, and Stefan let out a sigh as his phone went off in his pocket, causing to get it out and look down at the screen to see who it was. It was a text message from Caroline, and it read,

911 NOW.

"I hate this." Megan groaned, resting her head on the dining room table where she, Charlene, and Elena sat at together, discussing what happened with John. "Now, Jenna knows the truth all about John being Elena's dad and our uncle just because John had to be a jackass and reveal it. Like we don't have enough problems right now."

"Yeah." Elena sighed heavily, moving her finger around the rip of the drink she was holding. "We should have told about it sooner. I wanted her to hear it from us, not from anyone else especially not John of all people."

Charlene sat across from Elena, and reached out to take her hand. Her sister let their fingers curl together. "I know. We should have." She said before letting out her own sigh. "But it's too late now. There's nothing we can do to change the fact that she knows."

"Still…" Elena mumbled. "It shouldn't have been revealed like that…out of nowhere…"

Charlene said nothing, knowing her sister had a point.

Megan lifted her head from the table. "I just wonder why John is here in the first place. I don't care what he says, but he definitely can't just be here because he wants to protect Elena, and us. There's just no way."

Elena nodded her agreement, and Charlene did too. There was silence between the three girls until the doorbell rang, breaking through the quiet.

"I think that's Damon." Charlene said as she stood up from her. Not waiting for them to say anything, she left the dining room to go answer the door. She didn't have to look back to know Elena and Megan were right behind her.

Charlene got to the door, and pulled it open, and sure enough, Damon was on the other side of the door. He let himself in and moved past Charlene but not before placing a kiss on her cheek. Despite everything, she couldn't help but smile at the gesture.

"Where's John?" Damon asked, standing where he could see all of them.

"He's not here. He went off somewhere, I'm not sure where." Charlene said, rolling her eyes. "He just came here and just had to cause trouble by announcing to Jenna that Elena is John's daughter, and me and Megan are his nieces."

"Then he took off, leaving us to deal with Jenna." Megan added with a huff as she crossed her arms and rolled her own eyes. "Which was not cool by the way."

Damon looked at them, startled. "That's public knowledge now?"

"Apparently?" Elena snapped, taking a drink. Charlene and Megan smiled at her sympathetically.

Damon said nothing for a moment. "Are you okay?" he asked, surprising all three of them.

Elena was the first one to shake out of it, giving a tiny shrug and a weak smile. "Yeah. Jenna's head spinning, but I'm okay."

"We all are." Charlene said. "Just wish we could have told her instead of John. It would have been better to hear it from us."

Damon nodded. "He said what he was doing here?"

"Nope." Megan answered, popping the 'p'. "Trust us, we tried but he wanted to be an asshole and not answer any of our questions. Then he had the gall to say he needed to see if we could be trusted first. Can you believe that?" She rolled her eyes. "Anyway, I know Stefan meant well and he trusts that John is only here to help us, but I don't believe him. Like I told Charlie and Elena, there has to be another reason why he's here than just that."

"I don't believe him either."

"Yeah, none of us do." Charlene ran her fingers through her hair, letting out a sigh. "I just don't know what we're going to do about John."

"Kill him." Damon stated bluntly as he turned to leave.

"Does that have to be your solution to everything?" Megan questioned with a groan as Charlene grabbed his arm to stop him from leaving.

"Damon…" She said in that tone of hers Damon found annoying and endearing at the same time.

"I'm joking." Damon told her, getting her to relax but only for just a moment as he added, "Okay, I'm a little serious."

"Damon, we can't just kill him." Charlene said sternly. Though it definitely was tempting especially after what happened, but despite it all, he was still Elena's father and their uncle, so killing him just wasn't an option.

Her boyfriend rolled his eyes. "I'm not going to hurt him, Charlie." He said, and Charlene gave him a look of disbelief. "Trust me. I'm the good guy now, remember?"

"Since when?" Charlene asked, raising her eyebrows at him.

Damon brushed the question off as he said, "I'm just going to have a civil conversation with him." He started towards the front door and Charlene was right behind him, not wanting her boyfriend to be alone with John, just in case Damon changed his mind and did kill her uncle and Elena's father.

"Wait, we're coming too!" Megan shouted after them as she grabbed Elena's hand, dragging her out the door and closing it behind them.

Daddy Issues, Part 2

First new chapter for this story of 2022! So exciting! Hopefully I can finish catching up to where I was in the original story this year, especially considering in June of this year will be the tenth anniversary of when this story first came to be and when I first created Charlene Davis and Megan Swann. Crazy that it's going to be ten years this year. Sometimes it feels I just started writing this story, but I know probably that's only because I started the rewrite last year lol. Anyway, let me know what you think and I'll see you guys in the next chapter which will probably end up being posted soon since I'm feeling inspired with this episode since I watched it before starting this chapter... okay now gonna end this note lol. Until next time on SV101! :D
