After Jules left to go somewhere, Tyler went into his father's office and was on the computer at the moment. He froze suddenly, feeling another presence in this room. He whirled around and spotted Stefan behind him. Caroline must have told him that he knew about him and Damon being vampires. Tyler tried to take off, but Stefan didn't even give him a chance as he grabbed onto the werewolf's arm. It wasn't a rough grab, just enough to stop him.

"I'm not going to hurt you." Stefan tried to say. "I just want to talk."

Tyler roughly pulled his arm away and glared at the vampire. "Then why did you break in?"

"Would you have let me in otherwise?" Stefan counted.

Before he could answer, the voice of Carol Lockwood sounded as she heard down the stairs. "Tyler?"

Thinking maybe this distracted the vampire, Tyler tried to leave again, but unfortunately luck wasn't on his side.

Stefan stopped him, pushing him against the nearby wall roughly as his face changed in front of Tyler, making the boy freeze. "Shh, not a word." He warned.

"Tyler?" Carol's voice called again. "I'm leaving for the memorial."

Seconds later, the front door slammed shut. Once he was sure Tyler's mom was gone, Stefan stepped back from the newly turned werewolf as his face turned back to normal. "Maybe we're getting off on the wrong foot." He said, and Tyler nearly let out a snort. Obviously.

"What happened to Mason?" Tyler asked, wanting to cut to the chase so Stefan would leave.

"Tyler, there's a lot we have to talk about." Getting irritated, he tried to leave once again, but of course, Stefan was quick to stop him by grabbing onto his arm tightly. "I wouldn't do that. Without a full moon, you're not match for me."

Tyler stared at Stefan, wondering how the hell he was going to get out of this.

John went into the time square where he met up with Carol Lockwood as she hosted the memorial service the news anchor, Andie Star, had been talking about.

"It's good to have you back, John." Carol told him with a smile. "We could really use you."

"And the Council? What are they doing?" John questioned her.

"Damon Salvatore is leading the council now." Carol explained, and he held back the look of disbelief on his face. "Talk to him. Excuse me." She said before leaving with a woman, who had come up to talk to her.

After she left, John spotted Jeremy as his nephew walked by, and he stopped him with a small smile. "Jeremy, there you are."

Jeremy didn't smile back as his eyes narrowed at his uncle. "Looks like I slept through the homecoming." He said coldly.

"You didn't miss much. Let's just say no one's happy to see me would be an understatement."

"Look, things are different now." Jeremy informed his uncle seriously. "You can't come around and start with this anti-vampire crap."

"I have no intension of doing that." John reassured before his eyes caught sight of Jeremy's ring. "How's that ring been treating you?"

Jeremy's gaze at him hardened as he took off the ring and held it out towards John for him to take. "Look, if this is what you came for, just take it and go."

John didn't take it as he smiled sadly. "What kind of man would I be if I took that from you?" He paused briefly. "You want to grab some lunch?" He asked hopefully.

"I think I'll pass." Jeremy stated bluntly, still in that cold tone, no one wanted to hear in a family member. His uncle didn't say anything as John gave a small nod before taking off.

Jeremy stared after him, now feeling a bit emotional. It faded away though at the sight of Bonnie heading his way. He smiled at her.

Bonnie noticed him smiling at her and she smiled right back. However, it immediately faded and was replaced with a deep frown as she glanced over, spotting Jonas, Luka's dad walking alongside her.

She looked away from him. "I have nothing to say to you, Dr. Martin, or your son." She snapped.

"You must be feeling very confused about us."

"There's nothing confusing about it." Bonnie said to him, still facing forward. "I trusted Luka, and he betrayed me. Megan told me you were both working for Elijah, so don't lie about it."

"I won't, but that doesn't mean we're not also protecting you."

Bonnie stopped abruptly, causing him to stop with her, and she turned around to face him with a glare. "Spare me the witch loyalty crap."

"You might not want to believe this, but Elijah is a man of his word." Jonas tried to tell her. "You can trust he'll keep his end of the deal with Megan to keep you and your friends safe."

"You're right. I don't believe it." Bonnie said as Jeremy approached them, looking at them both, concerned.

"Is there a problem here?" he asked.

Bonnie gave one last look to Jonas. "Not at all." She let Jeremy wrap his arm around her shoulders, and they walked away together.

Jeremy glanced over at her. "What was that about?"

"More lies."

"Geez, there's some of us who don't have vampire speed." Megan complained as she and Elena entered the Grill.

Damon and Charlene stood in front of them. They had made it here first but it didn't look like they had been there long, considering Damon hadn't spotted John yet, who was over by Jenna and Alaric. The two adults probably wishing they had never come to the Grill in the first place to eat lunch.

Elena chuckled beside her. "Chill Megan, at least we made it."

"Not the point, Lena." She pouted, causing her best friend's sister to just laugh again. Her eyes rolled up skyward in exasperation.

"Sorry Megan." Charlene offered. "Didn't realize you came with us."

"Not my fault you didn't hear me." Megan grumbled. "So much for vampire hearing."

Charlene just shook her head as Damon finally spotted John and started to head his way. The blonde grabbed his arm before he could get too far.

"Please just try to be nice." Charlene pleaded with him. "We just want to get some answers from him."

"Yeah, but being nice isn't nearly as fun."

"Day, I'm being serious here." Charlene said, trying not to smile. "Just be nice, like I know you can be. Please. For me." She placed a hand on his chest as she fluttered her eyelashes at him flirtingly.

Damon stared at her for a moment before rolling his eyes. "Fine. I'll be nice." He said, making a face at the end.

"That's all I ask." Charlene told him smugly.

Megan shared a smirk with Elena as she coughed under her breath, "Whipped." Even though she knew he would hear her.

He did if the glare on his face was anything to go by. "I am not whipped."

"Whatever you say Day." Megan mocked, and his glare deepened, probably because she used Charlene's nickname for him. She just smiled innocently as she grabbed onto Elena's arm.

"Come on, let's let them deal with John, and we'll get a drink and some food too, I'm starving."

Elena laughed, making Megan smile, glad to hear her laughing since there wasn't much of it going on since last night. "Okay." She allowed her sister's best friend to drag her over to the bar.

Charlene shook her head, staring after them. "How I've been able to deal with those two for this long is beyond me." She smiled to herself though, knowing life without be the same without either of them. She looked over at Damon, but found him not beside her anyway as he went over to John, so she quickly moved to catch up to him.

"John, buddy, how are you?" Damon asked with a forced smile on his face as Charlene went to stand beside him, taking a hold of his hand. She ignored the look John gave as he glanced down at their connected hands.

After a moment, John looked away from Charlene to look at Damon, and he smiled, pretending not to notice the tenseness of this moment. "I've been alright, Damon. It's good to see you."

This was going to be a long night.

Somehow a little bit later, Damon managed to convince her to let him talk to John alone, and Charlene reluctantly allowed this. It did help somewhat he promised he would try not to cause a scene. Knowing that was as good as she was going to get, Charlene ended up joining Elena and Megan at the bar, but tried not to keep an eye on her boyfriend. She had to trust he would keep his promise. If there wasn't any trust, there wasn't much of a relationship.

"I wouldn't worry about it, Charlie." Megan said as she took a drink of the Hawaiian drink her best friend graciously compelled for her, snapping the blonde out of her thoughts. "I'm sure he won't do anything to him. I mean, Damon did promise he wouldn't, and lately, he's been on his best behavior. I can't even remember the last time someone had gotten hurt or killed by him."

Megan had a good point, but if Charlene hadn't been there for Damon last night, he probably would have gone out and killed someone, considering how hard he had taken Rose's death. Luckily though that wasn't the case.

Charlene nodded. "You're right."

"Of course I am." Megan said brightly. "Where have you been?" In response, her best friend rolled her eyes, but she was smiling, so Megan grinned proudly.

"So full of yourself." Elena teased.

"Me? Never." Megan brushed it off with an innocent look on her face.

"Whatever you say, Megan."

Megan gasped dramatically as she finished her drink and sat it down. "I don't have to take this abuse!" This only earned giggles from her sister and her cousin, causing her to huff. "I'm going for a walk." She walked away from the bar, ignoring the laughter from behind her. They could be so mean to her.

Meanwhile, Caroline was walking along the parking lot by herself, her purse over her shoulder as she headed over to her car and pressed her key button to unlock it. She stopped though when she heard Matt's voice from behind her.

"Hey!"

The blonde turned around, seeing technically her ex-boyfriend coming over to her. Caroline smiled softly as he stopped in front of her.

"Hey!"

"Hey." Caroline greeted back, still with the smile Matt loved to see on her.

"I haven't seen it."

Caroline's smile turned into a sheepish one. "I haven't been avoiding you, I swear."

"Yeah, you're avoiding me a little."

She sighed a bit. "Okay, maybe a little." She admitted.

At least she was being honest. "Can we talk later?" Matt suggested. "I mean, I'm heading to work right now, but maybe after, to clear some of this weirdness."

Caroline gave a nod, liking this idea. "Yeah, yeah, I'd really like that." She smiled, "I'll just swing by when you're closing."

"Sounds good."

"Okay, bye."

Matt smiled at her before he took off, leaving her by herself. Smiling to herself, Caroline headed the rest of the way to her car and was about to get inside, but froze as she felt a presence behind her. She turned her head around, spotting a woman, who she instinctually knew was Jules.

"Excuse me, Caroline, right?"

"Yeah." The blonde said, trying to not sound intimidated.

"I'm looking for Tyler." Jules explained, "You haven't seen him around, have you?"

Caroline gave her a tight lipped smile. "No, not since earlier." She told her. "Sorry." She opened the door to her car, moving to get inside.

"You're lying." Jules excused, and Caroline scoffed, but didn't turn around to face the werewolf.

"Really? How?" The blonde asked sarcastically. "Is that one of your little wolf tricks?"

"Actually, it is."

Caroline paused for dramatic effect. "Well, I have a trick too." She let her face vamp out and whirled around to attack Jules.

The werewolf didn't give her a chance, spraying something in her face. Caroline screamed in instant pain, and she covered her face as her skin burned. It was vervain! She quickly healed though, and she removed her hands before turning again to try again.

Jules wasn't there this time as it was a man and he quickly pulled out his gun, instantly shooting her point blank in the head.

Caroline fell to the ground immediately and the last thing she remembered before was the sound of Megan's voice and seeing her friend rushing to stop them before the girl got slammed in the head with the barrel of the gun the man had been holding and tumbled to the ground. Caroline barely let out her name before she fainted.

Megan gasped sharply as she sat up quickly, which was a mistake, as she cried out in pain when she did so. She whimpered as she tried to remember what had happened.

She managed to look around, finding herself inside a cage. Then her eyes caught the sight of Caroline on the ground, and she remembered immediately. Her friend had been attacked by some man and she tried to save her with her powers, but it didn't work. Instead, she got slammed in the head by the guy the man was holding. No wonder her head hurt like hell. Megan tried to feel the back of her head. However found herself unable to as her hands were locked behind her back by chains and so were her legs.

"You got to be kidding me!" Megan groaned, struggling a bit against them, even though she knew it was no use. She gave up after a moment before she tried to wake up her hurt friend. "Caroline." Her voice sounded weak, so she cleared her throat, then said her friend's name, but a little bit louder. "Caroline!"

It worked, and her friend woke up, but hadn't noticed her yet as she went to pull the wooden bullet out of her head. Caroline screamed a little in pain, and Megan winced, feeing her eyes well up with tears at the sound.

The blonde managed to get the bullet out, and she weakly dropped it to the ground.

"Caroline…" Megan said weakly, causing the blonde to look over at her with pain filled eyes. "Are you okay?"

"No…" she whimpered. "It hurts, Megan."

"I know." Megan tried to sooth her. "Don't you worry, we'll get out of this."

"Oh, I don't know about that."

Megan's head turned around towards the direction of the voice. She managed a glare at the sight of the man who attacked her and Caroline. He smirked.

"What do you want?" Megan demanded. "Let us out of here!"

"Yeah, I don't think so." He said before turning his attention to Caroline, who was now over by the bars of the cage, gripping onto them. "I see you got the bullet out. That was nasty. I got lots of bullets, other toys. And your friend here because I thought it would be fun to have an audience." Megan looked at him in disgust, but the man smirked, "It's gonna be a long night sweet pea." He pulled out his gun and shot her in the chest, causing Caroline to scream.

"No! Leave her alone!" Megan cried out in horror as she tried to maneuver herself over her friend to try and help her.

"I wouldn't do that." The man warned, stopping her. "I'll make it even worse for her."

Megan's eyes welled with tears as the man shot Caroline again, making the blonde scream once more. She closed her eyes tightly, wishing she could cover her ears so she wouldn't have to hear her friend's screams as Caroline got tortured.

"You want to be friends, great, we're friends." Tyler snapped as he sat across from Stefan, tired and irritated. "Will you go now?"

Stefan felt the same as he stared at Tyler in exasperation. "I don't know what else to say to you, Tyler." He leaned forwards, meeting Tyler in the eye. "I came back to this town because I wanted a life. I wanted to exsist where I could have friends and where I could build a family. I have that here, we can both have that."

Tyler said nothing as Stefan's phone rang. Sighing, Stefan stood up and took a look to see who was calling. Turned out to be Caroline. As he turned away from Tyler, he answered and put his phone to his ear.

"Hey, is everything okay?"

However, the person who spoke on the other end wasn't Caroline. "That depends." The voice said, "How badly do you want to keep her alive?"

"Who is this?"

"Ask your brother. Where is Tyler?"

Stefan turned around to face Tyler, who looked completely confused, and it took him a moment to realize who was on the phone with him. "Jules?" His entire body tensed up. "Where's Caroline?"

"You made a mistake, Stefan. I'm gonna give you a chance to fix it."

"Where is she?" Stefan demanded.

"Right here. Want proof?" There was some movement on the other end, then came Jules' voice again, and it sounded like she was talking to someone. "He needs proof."

At those words, there was the sound of a gunshot, and the familiar screaming of Caroline. Anger immediately shot through Stefan at the sound, but it only grew when he heard the sobbing of his girlfriend.

"Please! Just stop it!"

A growl left Stefan, startling Tyler.

"Where's happening?"

Stefan ignored him. "If you hurt Caroline again and do anything to my girlfriend, you're dead." He growled again.

"I hurt her again, and she's dead. As for your girlfriend same thing will happen to her if you don't bring Tyler to me. Go the clearing by Wickery Falls. You have twenty minutes until they are both dead." The phone clicked off, and Stefan's hand tightened around it as he looked over at Tyler.

Charlene left the bathroom before joining Elena over by the table her sister was standing by. She had just tried to call Megan again while she was in the bathroom after her best friend didn't come back after an hour.

"Still no luck?" Elena asked.

Charlene shook her head. "Nope. Maybe she went to go find Stefan, or she could have bumped into him on her walk. I'm not too worried."

Her sister nodded. There was silence between them as Charlene looked around for Damon before spotting him over at the bar, of course.

"I'm gonna get a drink." Charlene said to her before she started to head over to the bar. She stopped though as her aunt Jenna came up to him, and there was a woman with her. Charlene recognized the woman as Andie Star from the news.

Her eyes narrowed as she strained her hearing so she could hear what Jenna was saying as her aunt spoke to her boyfriend.

"So my friend wants to meet you. Damon Salvatore, this is…"

Hearing this, Charlene immediately knew what was happening and jealousy hit her. Oh hell no.

Quickly, the blonde made a beeline to the bar. "Hey Aunt Jenna!" she greeted her aunt first before sitting down next to Damon. Seeing the look on her boyfriend's face, she knew that he knew she was jealous, and she ignored the growing smirk as she turned her head towards him. "There you are! I've been looking for you." Not even caring that her aunt was right there, she grabbed his face and pulled him into a heated kiss. It lasted for a few minutes as she pulled away and looked in Andie's direction, pretending this was the first time she noticed her. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't notice you there. I'm Charlene, one of Jenna's nieces and Damon's girlfriend." The blonde didn't hide the hostility in her eyes, hoping it frightened Andie.

However, the woman didn't look bothered as she looked over at Jenna questioningly.

"Sorry, I had no idea." Jenna said, giving Charlene a look, clearly telling her they were going to talk later about this.

"Oh." Andie looked back over at Damon and Charlene, but she was mostly looking at Damon. "Sorry, I'm Andie Star."

Charlene almost let out a growl at the look at Andie's face, but Damon's hand sliding down her back calmed her.

"Oh, yeah, the news lady." Damon said uncaringly before he stood up from the bar stool, bringing Charlene with him since they were back to holding hands. "Nice to meet you." Was the last thing he said to her as he and Charlene started their way back to Elena.

Charlene felt Damon's arm around her waist, and he pulled her close as she looked over at him.

"Jealousy's a good look on you." He said, smirking at her.

She didn't bother denying it. "Hell yeah I was."

This made him laugh. "Mm, well it's a good look on you." He purred into her ear, making her shiver. "Maybe I should make you jealous more often."

"Yeah, please don't." Charlene stated dryly as they made it over to Elena, who had just gotten off the phone. She knew something was wrong immediately at the look on her sister's face. "What is it? What happened?"

After Elena explained what the phone call was about, they relocated to the bathroom so they could talk privately.

"Why am I just finding out about this now?" Damon demanded when they told him Tyler had found out about him and Stefan being vampires, and that Mason had been killed.

"I'm sorry, but we knew if we told you, you would kill Tyler." Charlene answered.

"Of course I would, it's what needs to happen."

"It doesn't." Charlene insisted. "Just do what you can to save Megan and Caroline that doesn't involve killing Tyler."

"Why? He's a werewolf he needs to die. I'm willing to kill him, it's a win-win."

Charlene crossed her arms. "Fine, go ahead and kill him." This earned a startled look from Damon while Elena gaped at her in shock.

"Charlie!" she exclaimed, wondering where this was coming from.

Ignoring her sister, Charlene added, "But it is only going to make things worse, and Caroline and Megan will die. Not only that, you'll have an upset brother, but you'll have a pissed off girlfriend, who won't have sex with you ever again but fine, go ahead. I won't stop you." She gestured to the door.

Damon looked speechless, and didn't make a move to head out. Before he could make an attempt to say anything, John came through the door. Damon scowled at him instantly while Charlene rolled her eyes at his presence.

"Do you mind?" Her boyfriend asked irately.

"What's going on?"

"Nothing." Elena was the one to answer quickly, glaring at John.

He frowned. "Doesn't look like nothing."

Damon moved over to him until they were face to face. "Well guess what, John, trust goes both ways. Get out."

Charlene cut in as John opened his mouth. "Calm down." She said, placing a hand on Damon's back. "We don't have the time for this. We need to focus on getting Caroline and Megan."

"There's no we. I'll take care of it." Damon told her, and she opened her mouth to protest. He didn't let her as he stepped away from John. "First dad and uncle duty: ground your niece and your daughter. Keep them here."

"Damon…"

He didn't let Charlene finish as he took off, and the blonde glared at where he once was. There was no way she was going to stay here with John while her best friend/sister and Caroline were in danger, especially since she could help.

She along with Elena tried to push past John, but he blocked their away.

"Move out of the way." Charlene demanded as Elena glared at him.

"No, I'm with Damon on this one." They tried again and John stopped them, "No, no, stop." He pushed Charlene and Elena back gently. "You two are going anywhere. Just tell me what's going on."

Charlene shared a look with Elena, both of them not wanting to tell him anything. Why should they if he wasn't going to the same? Unfortunately, it didn't look like either of them had a choice.

Daddy Issues, Part 3

Though I said this one was going to last part of this episode, I changed my mind so the next one will be. I thought this was a good place to end it. Like last time, the next chapter will be out soon. Until next time then! :)
