Kakashi was rowing her boat down through a riverside town, Kumo. She wore a straw hat to hide her identity. She had to tie her white long hair into a bun to hide herself from Kaguya's forces. She began singing a shanty, "Some have died and some are alive.
Others sail on the sea.
With keys to the cage and the devil to pay.
We play to Fiddler's Green."
Kakashi was watching soldiers of the East Wind Trading Company marching over wooden bridges. Mr. Danzo was leading them, Kaguya stationed him in Kumo to oversee a planned attack against known pirates.
Kakashi continued singing, "The bell has been raised from its watery grave.
Hear its sepulchral tone.
A call to all.
Pay heed to squall..." She stopped singing when she saw Mr. Danzo. Her attention was diverted back to the river as a firework went off. "Turn your sails to home.
Yo ho, haul together.
Hoist the colors and high." She docked her boat near an aqueduct.
As she stepped onto land, she continued singing before being cut off by a pirate. "Heave-ho, thieve..."
"Thief and beggar. Never shall we die." He was accompanied by two other pirates. He had brown short hair and wore a straw hat with a metal trim. "A dangerous song to be singing... for any who are ignorant of its meaning. Particularly a woman. Particularly a woman alone."
"What makes you think she's alone?" Captain Zabuza stepped down a stone staircase to them.
The leader of the three stepped forward to Zabuza, "You protect her?"
Kakashi walked up behind the leader and held a knife to his throat, "And what makes you think I need protecting?" The other two pirates pointed pistols at Kakashi.
Zabuza was surprisingly the voice of reason, "Your master's expecting us. And an unexpected death'd cast a slight pall on our meeting." He said to the leader. Kakashi let go of the man and sheathed her knife.
The five heard a group of soldiers heading their way so they took a secret staircase in the aqueduct.
At the same time, six coconuts were floating through the river, until they reached solid ground under a bridge. To which the coconuts stood up and revealed them to be Yahiko, Nagato, Yagura, Sarutobi, Touka, and Shikamaru. Yahiko made it to a sewer grate and waited for Konan, who was posing as a blind fortune teller with her monkey, parrot, and music cart standing above them. Hashi the monkey cranked a hurdy-gurdy to mask the sound of the others filing their way through the grate.
As Kakashi and Zabuza followed the pirates through the market she asked, "Have you heard anything from Obito?"
"I trust young Uchiha to acquire the charts and you to remember your place in the presence of Captain Shisui Inuzuka," Zabuza said.
"Is she that terrifying?"
"She's much like myself, but absent of my merciful nature and sense of fair play."
They arrived at a bathhouse and the leader opened it so Zabuza and Kakashi could walk inside.
Saru and the others finally broke enough of the grate to bend it for people to get through, Yahiko was the first to crawl through with swords that were meant for Kakashi and Zabuza if things went south. Nagato crawled with a bag of blunder bombs that would be used to provide some extra firepower if they needed it. Yagura was so short he didn't need to crawl, he just hunched his head forward.
Kakashi and Zabuza were stripped of their weapons, but Kakashi was halted when she stepped forward, "Do you think because she is a woman we would not expect her of treachery?" The guard was asking Zabuza.
Zabuza looked at Kakashi and then back to the guard, "Well, when you put it that way..."
"Remove. Please." The guard told Kakashi.
Kakashi untied her hat from her neck and took off her coat, she had four pistols that were holstered on her chest. The guard gave Zabuza a knowing look, and Zabuza gave him a playful laugh in response.
Kakashi placed all four pistols on the table in front of her, she threw her holsters cause she no longer needed them, a blunder bomb that she hid in her pocket, and a blunderbuss pistol that she hid in her pants. Zabuza had to do a double-take for that one. Kakashi looked around knowing that was her last weapon and then stepped forward but was halted yet again.
The guard said, "Remove. Please."
Kakashi looked down at herself thinking there was nothing left to remove except...
The guard gave a wide and devious grin.
Kakashi had been stripped down to nothing but her bathing suit before being allowed in but they did allow her to take her shirt in with her. Zabuza walked into the bathing area first as Kakashi was trying to cover up herself the best she could. Kakashi was disgusted by the blatant lack of respect toward women in the bathhouse, she swore that she'd give captain Inuzuka a piece of her mind for being violated like that.
They walked up to the end of the bathhouse where a woman in all black with short black fuzzy hair sat on a stone throne adorned with bamboo. She had two burly men to accompany her, and the woman's face was obscured by steam. When the steam lifted she looked at the two with curiosity, Kakashi noted that her left eye socket was stitched closed. Zabuza bowed and nudged Kakashi to do the same.
"Captain Zabuza, what brings you to Kumo." Shisui then sniffed a handkerchief before turning to one of her lackeys and said, "More steam." They pulled a stone connected by string which notified a group underneath the bathhouse if they needed more steam.
Yahiko watched as a man pulled a contraption and more steam poured into the room, he turned around to Saru and the others to get closer. Yahiko saw a really gigantic man begin shoveling coals into a furnace. Yahiko tried running for the hills before Saru stopped him, "If things don't go the way we want, then we're the only chance they've got." He whispered before throwing Yahiko back to the front of the group.
"I understand that you have a request to make of me," Shisui said swaying her hips as she walked to Zabuza, their faces mere inches away.
"More of a proposal to put to ye. I've a venture underway and I find myself in need of a ship and a crew."
Shisui began scratching the back of her head in thought, "Hmm. It's an odd coincidence."
Kakashi perked up over Zabuza's shoulder, "Because you happen to have a ship and a crew you don't need?"
"No. Because earlier this day, not far from here, a thief broke into my most revered uncle's temple and tried to make off with these." She grabbed a special set of charts that an old man was holding. "The navigational charts. The route to the Farthest gate." She threw it to her right-hand man who was the same man that Kakashi and Zabuza met here in Kumo. "Wouldn't it be amazing if this venture of yours took you to the world beyond this one?"
Zabuza replied, "It would strain credulity at that."
Shisui watched Zabuza's face and could tell that he was lying, she turned to her left and nodded to her men who let a man who was submerged into a bath up. The man had both of his hands tied to a stick of bamboo, it was Obito Uchiha. He gasped for air as Shisui walked up next to him, "This is the thief. Is his face familiar to you?" Kakashi and Zabuza nodded no. Shisui looked back to Obito, "Such a shame, I thought his face looked pretty. Too bad he won't be needing it anymore." She pulled out a knife and just before she slit Obito's throat Kakashi gasped.
Shisui sheathed her knife and looked back at Zabuza with distrust, "You come into my city and you betray my hospitality."
"Captain Shisui Inuzuka, I assure you I had no idea..."
"That he would get caught!" She yelled in Zabuza's face. Her men in the bathhouse all stood up, prepared to fight if their captain gave the order. Shisui walked back to her throne, "You intend to attempt a voyage to Madara's locker. But I cannot help but wonder..." She turned back to them, "Why?"
Zabuza threw a coin that Shisui caught and blew on it and placed it next to her ear then it rang a sound. It was a sound she looked like she had never heard but knew what it was.
Zabuza spoke, "The song has been sung. The time is upon us. We must convene the Brethren Court. As one of the nine pirate lords, you must honor the call."
Shisui gripped the coin in annoyance, "More steam."
Shikamaru saw the contraption move and Yahiko and Nagato struggled to find which pull-down lever was correct until Shikamaru pulled the right one while Yagura sat on the gigantic man's belly before smacking his face with the shovel and running off.
"There is a price on all our heads," Shisui said.
"Aye."
"It is true. It seems the only way a pirate can turn a profit anymore... is by betraying other pirates."
"It be time we put our differences aside. The first Brethren Court gave us the rule of the seas. But now that rule is being challenged by Lady Kaguya Ōtsutsuki." Zabuza said.
"Against the East Wind Trading Company, what value is the Brethren Court? What can any of us do?" Shisui asked.
"You can fight!" Kakashi stepped forward and her arm was grabbed by a man pulling her back. "Get off me!" She turned back to Shisui, "You are Shisui Inuzuka, the pirate lord of Kumo. You command in an age of piracy where bold captains sail free waters. Where waves aren't measured in feet, but as increments of fear, and those who pass the test become legend. Would you have that era come to an end on your watch? The most notorious pirates from around the world are uniting against our enemy, and yet you sit here cowering in your bathwater!"
Shisui walked up to Kakashi, "I like this one. Gusto and courage remind me of the tale of Madara the blood red. But I cannot help but notice that you have failed to answer my question." She pointed to Zabuza as she returned to her throne. "What is it you seek in Madara's locker?"
Obito was quick to answer, "Hashi Sparrow."
Shisui seemed angered by the mere mention of him. Obito continued, "He's one of the nine pirate lords."
"The only reason I would want Hashi Sparrow returned from the land of the dead... is so I could send him back myself!" She kicked over a stand full of tea.
Zabuza walked up to her, "Hashi Sparrow holds one of the nine pieces of eight. He failed to pass it along to a successor before he died. So we must go get him back."
Shisui noticed that a man next to her had tattoos that were melting due to the steam, it was a rat. "So you admit... you have deceived me. Weapons!" She yelled out unsheathing her sword. The rest of her men drew their swords and focused on Kakashi and Zabuza.
"Shisui, I assure you, our intentions are strictly honorable," Zabuza said before Yahiko and Saru threw swords up through the cracks in the floorboards that Zabuza and Kakashi caught. Zabuza gave Shisui a slight laugh.
Shisui enraged, grabbed the man and held her sword against the rat's throat. "Drop your weapons or I kill the man!"
Zabuza and Kakashi looked around not knowing what this tactic was. Zabuza turned back to her, "Kill him. He's not our man."
Obito was concerned, "If he's not with you, and he's not with us... who's he with?"
The doors of the bathhouse were kicked down and Royal navy soldiers stormed in with rifles and bayonets. Zabuza jumped at the first soldier unlucky to cross his path, by stabbing him in the leg and then chest. Shisui defended herself by sweeping a man's feet and kicking him into a crowd of soldiers.
Obito smashed the bamboo stick into his captors, knocking them over and letting him run free. He was lucky that a soldier rushed at him with a cutlass and freed one of his hands, Obito used the stick to bonk the man on the head and freed his other hand. Kakashi threw Obito a sword so he at least had a weapon.
As more men poured into the room Obito spotted Mr. Danzo preparing a shot aimed at her and pushed Kakashi and himself to the ground. The shot meant for her killed one of Shisui's men instead.
The fight getting more intense caused the group underneath the bathhouse to plant bombs onto structural beams, they lit the fuses and waited.
Right above the beams stood a firing squad aimed at Kakashi, Shisui, Obito, and Zabuza.
"Ready! Fire!" As the commander said fire the bombs went off, causing them to collapse downward. A bullet missed Shisui's head and she raised her sword into the air, "Sail!" She yelled to her men.
The fight then escalated outside as everyone headed for the docks to escape. Saru and his group climbed up through the collapse they made shooting anyone that got in their way. Yagura got to use his new blunderbuss, but when he fired it he was sent flying backward.
Another firing squad was set up at the front of the market outside the bathhouse, Konan watched the firing squad as her music cart was right behind them before it stopped playing music and exploded.
Zabuza met up with Shisui who he held up against a wall after her recent battle, she stared daggers into him, "It's an odd coincidence, isn't it? The East Wind Trading Company finds me the day you show up in Kumo."
"It is coincidence only. I need those charts and a ship and a crew, still. I don't care what you think about Sparrow but by the gods, he's our only hope." Zabuza lessened his grip on Shisui, "Your survival along with us all depends on convening the Brethren Court. You can make whatever deal you want with Kaguya Ōtsutsuki but it better not impede us. What would little Haku think of dear old mom ratting out dad? Hmm?"
Shisui snarled, "She's seven this year if you couldn't keep track. It's not like you tried to see her or anything."
"I was cursed by Ōtsutsuki gold for god's sake, I wanted to be rid of that. And then, I was also dead for three years. Where is she?" His voice was softer, more sincere.
"I left her in the care of my mother in Iwa, she's safer there. Away from pirates...and her parents."
"Aye. That's a wise choice." Zabuza turned to leave, "When this is all over I'd like to see her and maybe be a father for a time."
Shisui nodded, "I'll let Tenzo know that they're going with you. Tell Sparrow that I'll come to collect on all that money he owes me soon."
Zabuza nodded, her turned around and gave Shisui a kiss before he walked off into the chaotic city of Kumo.
Zabuza walked off but not before getting into a fight on a bridge, his opponent was skilled enough to keep him at bay. Until Hashi the monkey fired a firework distracting the both of them but giving Zabuza an opening and killing the man. The firework landed in a firework shop and erupted in a huge explosion, taking the whole platform and connecting bridges with it. Zabuza turned in the direction Hashi was, "Thank you, Hashi."
Zabuza met up with Tenzo and his crew near his ship, Tenzo already had the charts and handed them to Zabuza.
Kakashi, Konan, and Obito met up with Zabuza. "You have the charts?" Obito asked.
"Better. A ship and a crew." Zabuza replied. Saru and his group arrived just in time.
Kakashi asked, "Where's Captain Shisui?"
"She'll cover our escape and meet us at Shipwreck Cove."
Tenzo and his men hopped onto his ship and set sail as soon as everyone was aboard. Konan looked overboard watching the water. Kakashi walked up to her, "There's no place for Shisui to cower. Do you think she will honor the call?"
"I cannot say. There's an evil on these seas that even the most staunch and bloodthirsty pirates have come to fear."
