Chapter 18

Hero Names

It had been an eventful two days. Freya and Bakugo had spent their last day watching movies and Freya watched as him and his mom fought while they made dinner together. Freya was enjoying the time they had off with Bakugo.

The next day. It was raining. Bakugo and Freya had walked together, sharing an umbrella. They walked close together, but both were now comfortable with it.

"Freya! Bakugo!" Kirishima called as they neared the gates. He caught up to the couple. He smirked. "You two look cute together."

"Shut up, Shitty Hair." Bakugo growled. They entered the school. Freya put her jacket and boots in a locker. Jiro and Mina came over and the two walked to their classed talking about their days off. Bakugo was already sitting in his desk when the girls came in laughing and talking.

"It's so weird that people recognize us from TV." Mina said as they all sat down. Freya smirked. "Everyone wanted to talk to me on my way home."

"Yeah, me, too!" Kirishima said.

"People on the street were staring at me! It was kind of embarrassing." Hagakure said.

"Sure, but isn't that pretty normal for you?" Ojiro asked.

"You won't believe what a bunch of elementary school brats yelled at me." Sero said.

"Nice try?" Tsu asked. Freya shook her head as Sero groans. Izuku came in and sat down in his desk.

"All it took was one Sports Festival and suddenly we're like celebrities." Kaminari said. Bakugo was glaring out the window.

"This school really is amazing." Mineta said. The door opened and Aizawa stepped in. Freya was surprised to see he had no bandages today.

"Morning." Aizawa said.

"Good morning, Mr. Aizawa!" Students said.

"Father. You don't have bandages anymore. You all healed?" Freya asked as Aizawa heads to his desk. Aizawa scratched under his eye.

"The old lady went a little overboard in her treatment. Anyway. We have a big class today on Hero Informatics." Aizawa said. The class went silent, wondering what he was talking about. "You need codenames. Time to pick your hero identities." Most of the class jumped up.

"This is going to be awesome!" Students said. Freya had to bite her lip as Aizawa growls and his hair floats up. The class quickly sits down. Aizawa's hair went back down.

"This is related to the Pro Hero draft picks that I mentioned the last time we were in class together. Normally, students don't have to worry about the draft yet. Not until their second or third year actually, but your class is different. In fact, by extending offers to first years like you, Pros are essentially investing in your potential. Any offers can be rescinded in their interest in you dies down before graduation, though." Aizawa said. Mineta punches his desk.

"Stupid, selfish adults.

"So, what you're saying is, we still have to prove ourselves after we've gotten recruited." Hagakure said. Aizawa nodded.

"Correct. Now. Here are the totals for those of you who got offers." Aizawa said. He pushed a button and numbers popped on the screen. Todoroki had 4,123. Freya had 3,700 and Bakugo had 3,556. "In past years it's been more spread out. But there's a pretty big gap this time."

"Gah! That's no fair." Kaminari said.

"What about the real star? Moi?" Aoyama asked with steam coming out of his ears.

"Todoroki and Freya got the most, ahead of Bakugo?" Jiro said.

"Yeah, it's the complete opposite of how they placed in the festival." Kirishima said.

"They probably weren't excited about working with the guy who had to be chained up at the end." Sero said. Freya snorted at Sero's words. Bakugo turned on Sero.

"If I scared a Pro, they're just weak!" Bakugo growled. Freya sighed. Yaoyorozu looked at Todoroki.

"That's amazing. You must be proud." Yaoyorozu said.

"These offers are probably because of my father." Todoroki said. Uraraka was shaking Iida.

"People want us." Uraraka said.

"I'm surprised I got so many." Freya said, looking at her number.

"Midoriya. You got none!" Mineta said. Freya saw that the pervert was right.

"Despite these results, you'll all be interning with Pros. Got it? Even those of you who didn't get any offers." Aizawa said.

"Oh, so, we're all interning?" Izuku said.

"Yes. You already got to experience combat with real villains during the attack on the USJ facility. But it'll still be helpful to see Pros at work. Up close and personal, in the field. Firsthand.

"And for that, we need hero names." Seto said.

"Thing are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Uraraka said.

"These hero names will likely be temporary, but take them seriously or..." Aizawa started when the door opened.

"You'll have hell to pay later." Midnight said. Freya smiled seeing one of her mom and dad's friends and teacher walk into the room. Mineta and Kaminari had huge smiles on their faces. "What you pick today could be your codename for life. You better be careful, or you'll be stuck with something utterly indecent."

"It's Midnight." Students said.

"Yeah. She's got a good point. Midnight is going to have final approval over your names. It's not my forte." Aizawa said. He bends down and pulls out his sleeping bag.

"What does he mean by that?" Jiro asked, looking at Freya.

"He didn't pick out his hero name. Present Mic was the one that helped him with it." Freya said.

"The name you give yourself is important. The name you give yourself is important. It helps reinforce your image and shows what kind of hero you wanna be in the future. A codename tells people exactly what you represent. Take All Might for example." Aizawa said. Papers were handed out. Aizawa was already in his sleeping bag and leaning against the wall to take his nap.

Freya looked out the window as she thought of the name she wanted. Bakugo was writing fast. She didn't want to know what his name was going to be.

"Now students, who among you is ready to share?" Midnight asked.

'Wait. We're sharing in front of everyone?' Freya thought. Aoyoma got up and walked towards the desk. He turned and held up his board.

"Hold your breath. The Shining Hero. My name is I cannot stop twinkling!" Aoyoma said. Freya's head hit the desk at that name. "mon amis. You can't deny my sparkle."

"Tch." Bakugo said.

'Come on.' Half the class thought. Midnight grabbed the board and started fixing the name.

"It'll be better this way." Midnight said. Freya brought her head up. "Take out the I and shorten the cannot to can't." Midnight shows the new name.

"It's stunning, mademoiselle." Aoyoma said.

'You got to be kidding, she likes it?" Freya said. Mina jumped to her feet and ran towards the desk.

"Okie dokie, lemme go next!" Mina said. Mina held up her sign. "My code name: Alien Queen!"

"Hold on. Like that horrible monster with the acidic blood? I don't think so." Midnight said. Mina walked to her desk with a disappointed look on her face.

"Dang it." Mina said. Freya gave her a small smile as she stood up. Bakugo watched as Freya headed up to the desk.

"I got one." Freya said. She held up her sign. "The Force girl. Mind Force."

"Ooh. I like that. Close to your mother's name, but flipped. Hers was Force Mind." Midnight said, hugging Freya. Freya smiled. Freya came back to her seat.

"Good one, Brat." Bakugo said with a smirk. Freya smiled at him. Tsu held up her hand.

"Ribbit. I think I've got one. Okay if I got next?" Tsu asked.

"Come on up!" Midnight said. Tsu went up to the desk holding up her board.

"I've had this name in mind since grade school." Tsu said. She turned the board around. "Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."

"That's delightful! It makes you sound approachable. What a great example of a name everyone will love!" Midnight said. Students started to chant Froppy. Kirishima was next.

"I've got mine, too. The Sturdy Hero. My name is Red Riot!" Kirishima said.

"Nice." Freya said.

"Red Riot? Interesting. You're paying homage to the Chivairous Hero, Crimson Riot, yet?" Midnight asked.

"That's right. He may be kind of old school, but someday, I wanna be just like he was. Crimson is my idol." Kirishima said.

"Hm. If you're bearing the name of someone you admire, you have that much more to live up to." Midnight said.

"I accept the challenge." Kirishima said, clenching his fist. Kirishima sat down. People were still trying to figure out names.

"Man. I still haven't been able to think of anything that's cool enough." Kaminari said. Jiro elbowed Freya then looked at Kaminari. She taps him on the shoulder.

"Hey, I've got one. How does Jamminy-yay sound to you?" Jiro asked.

"Ha! Oh, it's like Hemingway, who wrote A Farewell to Arms, right? Real clever. I like it." Kaminari said. Jiro and Freya had to hide their laughs behind their hands.

"No. It's because even though you're powerful, you always jam your brain." Jiro said. Freya and Jiro start laughing and Kaminari glares at the two.

"Oh, come on, Jiro. Quit messing with me! Freya it's not funny!" Kaminari said. Bakugo rolled his eyes as Jiro got up and went to the desk holding her board.

"The Hearing Hero. I'm Earphone Jack." Jiro said.

"Now that's a good one!" Midnight said. Other students started going up as others were getting their names. Shoji was Tentacole. Sero was Cellophane. Ojiro was Tailman. Seto was Sugarman. Mina finally got her name, and it was Pinky. Kaminari was Chargebolt. Hagakure was Invisible Girl. Yaoyorozu was Creati. Todoroki was Shoto, even though it was just his name. Tokoyami was Tsukuyomi. Mineta was Grape Juice. Kota was Anima. Bakugo got up there and Kirishima, Freya, and Kaminari sweat dropped.

"King Explosion Murder." Bakugo said.

"I'm gonna say that one's a little too violent." Midnight said. Bakugo dropped his sign.

"Huh. What did you say?" Bakugo said. Freya put a hand to her forehead.

"Why don't you be Explosion Boy?" Kirishima asked. Bakugo turned on him.

"You shut up, weird hair!" Bakugo shouted. Bakugo stormed back to his seat.

"I like Kirishima's name for you." Freya said.

"I'm not using that name." Bakugo grumbled.

"You'll find one. I know you will." Freya said with a smile. Bakugo shrugged and started to redo his name. Uraraka went up to the desk.

"This is the name I thought of. Uravity!" Uraraka said. Freya smiled.

"I just love that!" Midnight said. Uraraka sat down. "To be honest, choosing names is going faster than I thought it would. All we have left is young Bakugo, who needs to rethink his, and Iida. Oh, yes, and Midoriya, too." Freya looked back at Izuku and he was looking at his board. Iida came up and put down his board. It read Tenya. Freya saw a sad look on his face. Freya had heard his brother was injured bad by the Hero Killer, Stain on the news.

"You're using your real name, too?" Midnight asked. Iida nodded and went and sat down. "Well, Midoriya. Are you ready?"

"Oh. Yes!" Izuku said. He got up and went up to the desk. He held up his sign and the whole class gasped. Freya was surprised with his name.

"Really Midoriya?" Mineta asked.

"You sure about that?" Freya asked.

"Yeah, man, remember, that could be your name forever." Kirishima said.

"Right, I used to hate it. But, then, something changed. I guess. Someone taught me that it could have a different meaning. And that had a huge impact on how I felt." Izuku said. Freya smiled. "So, now I really like it." Deku looked at his friends with a smile on his face. "Deku. That has to be my codename. Bakugo was glaring at Izuku as Freya and Uraraka smiled at Izuku. Bakugo went back up and Freya and Kirishima were facepalming.

"Lord Explosion Murder!" Bakugo said.

"That's basically the same thing." Midnight said with a sigh.

"And he's your boyfriend." Jiro said.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I don't claim him." Freya said. Bakugo stormed back to his desk and sat down. "Really Bakugo. Could you find another one that's not so violent."

"Shut up, Brat!" Bakugo said. Freya sighed. Aizawa stood up.

"Now that everyone's decided on their Hero names, we can go back to talking about your upcoming internships." Aizawa said as he pulled out papers. "They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with. Those of you who were on the board will choose from among your offers, everyone else will have a different list. You have a lot to think about. There are 40 agencies across the country who've agreed to take on interns from your class. Each agency has a different specialty that its heroes focus on. Keep that in mind."

"Imagine that you were Thirteen. You'd want to choose a place that focuses on rescuing people, not fighting villains. Understand?" Midnight said.

"Think carefully before you decide." Students said. Papers were handed out as the bell rings. Freya looked over her list. Ryuku wasn't on the list. She had a mission the week of the internship. Freya was a little sad, but understood. There were quite a few Hero names she saw on the list.

"Turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa said as he and Midnight left.

"We only got two days?" Sero asked.

"Yeah, so you should start now." Aizawa said. He looked back. "You're dismissed." He closes the door behind him.

Around lunchtime.

"So guys, have you decided what Pro Agency you wanna go for?" Mina asked.

"Mt. Lady's my first choice." Mineta said.

"Mineta. Are you thinking something perverted?" Mineta said. Bakugo looked at Freya's choices.

"Snake Hero is your first choice?" Bakugo said.

"Yeah. I can't do Ryuku but it's fine." Freya said. Bakugo nodded. "Who you choosing?"

"I'm still looking." Bakugo said. Freya was surprised on that. "The nerd had no offers. Wonder who he will be with."

"There are only 40 Heroes who'll take us..." Freya and Bakugo turn and look at Izuku, who was muttering. "So after looking up their specialties and splitting them into groups, I can start narrowing..."

"There he goes again." Everyone said.

"Huh? Oh. Sorry, what'd you guys say?" Izuku said. Freya leaned against Bakugo's chair as everyone gathered around Izuku.

"You're really thinking hard about this, aren't you?" Freya said.

"It'll all work out." Uraraka said. The others nodded. "I've settled on my pick."

"Same here." Freya said.

"Already?" Mina asked.

"What agency?" Ojiro asked.

"I'm doing Uwabami, the snake hero." Freya said.

"Same here." Yaoyorozu said. Freya went to talk to her while Uraraka talked to the others. Freya and Yaoyorozu walked to hand in their papers.

"Maybe she'll take us both." Freya said. Yaoyorozu said. Freya hadn't talked to her much through school, but might be more chance to make friends.

"Bakugo hasn't chosen yet?" Yaoyorozu asked as they walked back.

"Not yet. He seemed to be irritated with the others." Freya said.

After school. Freya stood outside the staff room waiting on Bakugo. He came out after handing in his paper. He took her hand and they walked down the hall to head home.

"Who did you choose?" Freya asked.

"Best Jeanest." Bakugo said.

"You sure on that." Freya said.

"I'm sure." Bakugo said, pulling her against his side and they walk out of UA.

"Fine, Explosion Boy." Freya said.

"Don't call me that. You're as bad as Shitty Hair." Bakugo grumbled. Freya pressed a kiss to his check. Bakugo smirked as they walked home.
