Chapter 30
Aftermath
"Midoriya." Freya yelled, running over to Izuku as he swayed on his feet. Kota ran over.
"Everything is fine. Gimme a second, and then there's something I have to take care of." Izuku said.
"But you're all beat up. What more could you have to do now?" Kota asked.
"He won't be going alone. I'll be going with him." Freya said. She knew he was going after Bakugo and she wasn't gonna let him go alone being all beat up like he was.
"I knew he'd be strong. That's why I had to try to deafeat him here. I thought I'd be able to inflict a lot more damage in the end though. Turns out, I seriously understimated how powerful his Quirk was." Izuku said. Izuku looked out at the forest and Freya looked out. The blue flames were spreading. "If every villain attacking us tonight is on the same level, all our lives are at stake."
"On top of it, it sounds like they're after some of us students. We have to let my father and the Pussycats know that's one of the reasons they're here." Freya said. She was worried for Bakugo. Izuku nodded in agreement.
"I may be injured, but I'm not defeated yet, there are more people I can save. Freya. How are you doing?" Izuku said. He saw the pain in her eyes, but she nodded.
"I'll be fine." Freya said, but she could feel the pain in her side, but it was bareable. "We need to move and fast." Izuku and Freya looked at the Villain.
"We'll leave this villain here for the time being. With my arms messed up, my smash was probably weaker than it could have been, but I still think it's taken him down for awhile. He won't wake up anytime soon. And even if he did, he'd be to weak to fight." Izuku said. He looked at Kota. "For right now, we need to make sure you're safe. We're gonna need some help only you can give us. The forest has been set on fire. That means our friends could be trapped by the flames. But we have hope." Freya nodded.
"He's right. Your water Quirk can put those fires out." Freya said. Kota gasped as Izuku knelt in front of him.
"Kota? Do you hear us? We need you." Izuku said. Kota had tears in his eyes, but he nodded. "Now, get on my back." Kota climbs onto his back. "Freya. I'll keep at a pace you can keep up." Freya nodded as her hands lit up. She created force steps and started running through the air towards the ground with Izuku and Kota right behind her.
"You sure your fine? Your busted up." Freya said.
"It's why I kept my legs fine so I can run." Izuku said. Freya didn't like the Villains words about Bakugo. She had a bad feeling something was going to happen. Freya landed on the forest floor and her and Izuku ran through the forest. "Just a little bit further."
"Hey, look!" Kota gasped. Freya turned her head and saw her father running by.
"Father!" Freya called. Aizawa stopped and saw his daughter and Izuku.
"Freya. Midoriya." Aizawa said. He gasped at the sight of Izuku with his arms busted and Freya looked paler then normal. She was breathing hard.
"You're here. Thank goodness." Izuku said. Freya helped Kota get down. "I need to catch you up on what I've learned about the villains, but we don't have much time.
"Hey." Aizawa said.
"Plus, we need to find Mandalay. There's something I have to tell her." Izuku said.
"Hold on!" Aizawa said. Freya didn't miss the anger on his face.
"Please take care of Kota while we're gone." Freya said. Aizawa sighed and stopped Freya and Izuku from running.
"Wait, you two." Aizawa said. Freya looked at her father. He saw there was pain in her eyes. "Those injuries... You went to far again, didn't you. Have you forgotten about Hosu?"
"Father. Please. He had no choice. The villain we faced was going to kill him and take me away." Freya said.
"She's right. But no. I haven't." Izuku said.
"Go. But tell Mandalay something for me, too." Aizawa said. Aizawa told them to tell Mandalay to let the students fight to defend themselves. Freya grinned. "Freya. Take it easy and use the erase Quirk when you need to."
"Yes, father." Freya said. Her and Izuku ran. Freya pushed through the pain as she ran. She put her hand to her side and used the force to hold the ribs together so the pain was better and didn't damage the ribs worse. They came into a clearing to see Mandalay and Tiger struggling. Izuku jumped in the air and kicked the Lizard in the head. Freya jumped and spun. She kicked the Sunglasses in the head and sent him flying.
"Mandalay! Kota! He's safe!" Izuku called.
"You found him?" Mandalay said with relief.
"And I've got a meassage from my father." Freya said, landing on the ground. "We need you to use Telepath! Tell everyone in Class A and Class B that Eraser Head has granted them permission to engage in combat with the villains!" Mandalay gasped, but she nodded. She sent the message to them all. Freya ran to Izuku, who was panting on the ground.
"Get back to camp right now! Both of you!" Mandalay said. She flips in the air and kicks Spinner in the head. "Those inuries aren't normal."
"I'm sorry, but we can't. Freya. Let's move." Izuku said. Izuku and Freya took off. "You need to send one more thing. The villains. I know one reason they're here. They're after Kacchan! Please, you have to let the other know!"
"Kacchan? Who's that?" Mandalay said.
"It's Bakugo!" Freya called back. The sunglasses guy came flying at them as if he was trying to stop them. A sword flies by, stopping him. That surprised Freya, but she didn't have time to stop. They ran through the woods. Izuku was panting.
'We got to be getting close to them.' Freya thought. A black hand reaches out through the dark. Freya's eyes widen. Arms grab her and Izuku and pull them out of the way. A boom comes. Freya opens her eyes. Shoji had a hand on her shoulder and Izuku was wrapped in on his back.
"Shoji. What happened?" Izuku said. Freya saw one of his arms was bleeding.
"With those injuries... You should be laid up in bed recovering. Freya. You look paler then normal. But you both want to save your friend. No matter what the cost."
"You're injured, too." Freya said.
"Yes. We were ambushed by villains, and I covered us. But the attack triggered Tokoyami's Quirk, even though he was desperately trying to hold it back." Shoji said. Freya and Izuku gasped. They knew Dark Shadow got more aggressive in the Dark.
"No. Don't tell me!" Izuku said. Shoji brought them to where Tokoyami was.
"Yeah. If we wanna get through here, we'll have to face Dark Shadow first." Shoji said. Freya put a hand to her mouth. Dark Shadow had Tokoyami wrapped up and it was yelling.
"Stay away from me! You'll die!" Tokoyami said.
"Not good." Freya said.
"Tokoyami, no!" Izuku called. Dark Shadow roars. Dark Shadow was moving through the trees. Freya couldn't see his body to erase the Quirk.
"But, how did he get this way?" Freya asked.
"Keep it down. After Mandalay told us what was happening and that we shouldn't engage, we were both on high alert. Still, one of the villains got the drop on us. I hid in the bushes and tried to cover Tokoyami, even though one of my arms was cut off." Shoji explained.
"Really?" Izuku asked.
"It looks bad. But it's not like it's lost forever. My Dupli-Arms are capable of making duplicates upon duplicates. One of those was cut off. Thing is, he couldn't stand seeing me injured liek that. The Quirk he'd been suppressing began to rage and take over." Shoji explained. Dark Shadow roars.
"The darker it is, the less control Tokoyami has." Freya said as they watched Dark Shadow move.
"I had no idea his Quirk could explode like this." Izuku said.
"It's probably fueled by his righteous indignation and regret. He's tried to hold it back, but they made it wilder." Shoji said. He stepped on a twig and Dark Shadow attacked, but Freya put up a force field and it hit it. Shoji moved them back. "It started lunging at any sound or movement, a beast lashing out with indiscrimiate attacks."
"Forget about me. Go! Find our classmates. Help them instead. Stop this. Calm down, Dark Shadow!" Tokoyami said.
"His Quirk has a weakness to light. If we can lead them to a fire or back to camp, we can contain it. Midoriya, Freya. I know these are strange circumstances, but I can't just leave a suffering friend behind." Shoji said.
"Neither can I, but I can't see Tokoyami and can't get close without Dark Shadow attacking to erase it. We need to figure something out." Freya said. Shoji nodded.
"You forced your broken body to get you here because you were worried about Bakugo. If you wanna save him, I'll distract Dark Shadow for you. And you and Freya can run." Shoji said.
"Wait. Hold on." Izuku said. Freya looked at Izuku. "The fire and camp are both pretty far away. You'll be in danger if he..." Dark Shadow noticed them and attacked. Shoji moved fast taking Freya with him as Dark Shadow hit the tree.
"I know that. But to save people, you have to take risks. That's what makes a hero, a hero." Shoji said. He lands behind another tree. "Will you both stay with me and help Tokoyami? Or will you rush to Bakugo's side? You have to make a choice. Right now."
Izuku and Freya share looks and they shared a silent thought.
"We already have." Freya said. Shoji looked at them.
"It's not perfect with the plan, but it might work.
"What?" Shoji said.
"If Dark Shadow react to sound, then make dupilcate arms to bait him, so he'll follow us without attacking our actual bodies." Izuku said. Freya nodded as Shoji gasped.
"We can lead Dark Shadow to Katsuki. He'll be able to weaken him with an explosion. We don't want to choose one or the other. We will save them both." Freya said.
"Alright then. Freya. Jump on my back." Shoji said. Freya jumped on. There was a barrier between her and Izuku so that she didn't hurt them.
"Go." Izuku said. Shoji started running. He used his arms to start making noise. Dark Shadow roared and started to follow, attacking where the arms hit as Shoji ran. Izuku saw ice ahead as Dark Shadow caused explosions. "There. I see ice! They're fighting!" Freya looked up and saw Izuku was right. Bakugo and Todoroki were fighting a guy that had knives or swords coming out of his mouth.
"Bakugo! Todoroki!" Shoji yelled.
"One of you. Give us some light!" Freya called.
"More flesh!" The Villain called. Freya saw the knife comin out of his mouth towards them. Dark Shadow jumped out and Shoji moves as it takes down the Villain and pins him. Bakugo and Todoroki gasped.
"Kacchan!" Izuku yelled.
"Shoji, Midoriya, and Freya. And is that..." Todoroki said. Dark Shadow appears over their ice. "Tokoyami." Dark Shadow destroys the ice.
"We need some light now!" Shoji yelled. Shoji barely dodges an attack and let's Freya go. Freya rolls on the ground, grunting in pain. She puts a force field up and Tokoyami hits it.
"He's out of control!" Freya yelled.
"He's attacking blindly. I'll use my fire." Todoroki said. Bakugo put his hand out.
"Not so fast." Bakugo said. The Villain used his knives to sit up.
"Flesh. Slabs of meat. No good. Can't allow it. I'm the one who gets to slice them open!" The villain said.
"That guy is crazy." Freya said.
"Don't steal from me." The Villain said. He sends more knives but Dark Shadow grabs him.
"You don't matter. Insignificant bug!" Dark Shadow said. He squeezes the Villain till the knives break. Bakugo had a crazed look on his face. Freya stood up.
"Now finish him." Bakugo said. Dark Shadow throws the villain into the tree and knocks him out. Dark Shadow gets bigger.
"Not enough! It's not enough!" Dark Shadow yelled.
"Now!" Freya yelled. Bakugo and Todoroki attack Dark Shadow using their Quirks. Dark Shadow squeaks. Tokoyami falls to his knees.
"And once again. I'm a terrible matchup for you, birdboy." Bakugo said as Dark Shadow disappeared.
"Katsuki." Freya runs up to Bakugo.
"Brat! What were you thinking? And why the hell are you paler then normal?" Bakugo said as Tokoyami thanks the others. Freya threw her arms around Bakugo's neck.
"I'm fine. Stop worrying." Freya said.
"Tch." Bakugo said. He didn't miss the pain in his girlfriends eyes. He knew she was hurt, but didn't want to argue. They were already dealing with villains. Bakugo pressed a kiss to Freya's forehead.
"Okay. I don't know if you heard Mandalay, but Freya and I found out the villains are after Kacchan." Izuku said. Freya let go of Bakugo as they stood talking.
"Bakugo? Are they trying to kill him? Why?" Tokoyami said.
"We're not sure. But we should get back to camp. It's the safest place now, so long as Vlad King and my father have regrouped there." Freya said.
"I understand. So our mission is to get Bakugo back to safety by serving as his protectors." Tokoyami said. Bakugo didn't seem thrilled at those words.
"It's possible the Pussycats are still fighting in the clearing. Going that way would draw the attention of the Villains. Plus it's longer. We should cut straight across." Izuku said. Bakugo was looking back and forth between everyone.
"We don't know how many enemies there are. We might come across some by chance." Tokoyami said.
"We can use Shoji's search ability. Plus we got Freya with her erase Quirk. And Todoroki's freezing power. And if Tokoyami's okay with it, we can always use Dark Shadow now that we can actually control him." Freya said. Everyone, but Bakugo nodded. They turned towards the woods.
"Honestly, with a group like this, we could probably even go up against All Might." Izuku said.
"I'd be fine by myself!" Bakugo growled. Freya sighed. Todoroki looked at Bakugo.
"We'll surround you as we walk." Todoroki said. Freya noticed he had one of the students on his back.
"I don't need any of your protection, dammit!" Bakugo said.
"I'll walk ahead in front with Shoji in case I'm need." Freya said, not happy with how Bakugo was acting. They started walking with Bakugo complaining behind them.
They found Uraraka holding a blonde female down but had a needle like thing in her thigh and blood was going through it. Tsu was not far.
"Uraraka!" Freya yelled.
"Quickly, guys! Help her!" Tsu said. The girl shoved Uraraka off and jumped away.
"Stop!" Uraraka said as the others ran over to her. The girl turned. Freya saw a sad look on her face.
'Who the hell was she.' Freya thought.
"There's too many people here now, and I don't feel like being killed tonight. Toodles." The girl said. She disappeared into the trees.
"Get her." Uraraka said.
"No. It's to dangerous." Tsu said. Freya looked at the girls. Uraraka had a cut on her arm from a knife and Tsu looked fine. "We have no idea what kind of Quirk she has."
"Who was that girl just now?" Todorki asked.
"One of the villains. She was crazy." Tsu said.
"Uraraka. You're hurt!" Izuku said.
"It's not bad. I can still walk okay. You're the one who looks terrible." Uraraka said. Izuku looked down.
"We can't stand here and talk. Let's move." Shoji said.
"I'm just glad you didn't get injured to bad. Now come on. Join our group. We're protecting Kacchan and making our way back to camp. We could use your help." Izuku said. Tsu touched her chin.
"If you're protecting Bakugo, then, shouldn't he be standing here with you guys?" Tsu said. Freya turned and eyes widen. Bakugo and Tokoyami were gone.
"What? No? How?" Freya said.
"Nice trick. Hey?" Freya looked up into the trees as a man stood on one of the branches. The man wore a trench coat with a cane. He had a mask on his face. He had a top hat on. "I took the lad you're talking about with my magic." He was tossign a marble in the air with his free hand. "A talent like his would be squandered were he cast as a hero. We'll provide him with a grander stage where he can truly shine." Freya gritted her teeth.
"Give him back!" Freya yelled.
"Give him back? What an odd thing to say. Bakugo doesn't belong to anyone. He's his own person. Don't be so arrogant.
"We'll stop you!" Izuku said. Todoroki ran forward.
"Right now!" Todoroki said. He sent ice towards the man. The man jumped in the air.
"Why the aggression? We merely wish to show him that there are options besides the fanatical world of heroism he's drowning in." The man said. He lands on a tree. "It's important to choose a path that aligns with your core values, after all.
"It's not just Bakugo. Tokoyami's gone!" Shoji said.
"If you're monologuing because you think you've beaten us, you're mistaken." Todoroki said. Freya saw the marble in the mans hand.
"A bad habit of mine. I was once an entertainer, you know. Taking Tokoyami was a bit of improv on my part." The man said. He held two marbles in his hand. Freya clenched her fists. "Moonfish. Our dear blade tooth. He may not look it, but he's a dastardly death row devil who's last appeal was denied. When I saw the avian take him down so easily and violently, I decided he should join our troupe."
"You bastard! You can't take them!" Izuku said.
"Midoriya. Calm down." Shoji said. Todoroki handed the student over to Uraraka.
"Here, take this guy for me." Todoroki said. He ran forward and sent a huge slab of ice at the man. Todoroki was covered in ice on his one side.
"My apologies." Freya growled as the man had moved out of the way. "But slight-of-hand and escapology are my specialties, not combat. I'm not foolish enough to fight hero candidates from UA." The Man puts the marbles in his pocket. He puts his hand to his ear. "Vanguard Action Squad. I've acquired our target. Our little show has officially come to a close. Meet me at the retrieval point in the next five minutes for the final bow." The man disappears.
"They're going to take them. Our friends." Todoroki said. Freya punched the ground.
"Damnit." Freya said.
"They can't." Izuku said.
"You're right. We'll stop them." Todoroki said. Everyone took off running after the man. The Man was moving with a fast speed.
"Damnit, this guy's quick." Freya said.
"If only Iida were here!" Uraraka said.
"C'mon." Todoroki said.
"We can't give up. Not now!" Izuku said. Freya looked at him. He had his eyes closed and was in pain. "We have to catch him and get our friends back!"
"But he's pulling further ahead with every second." Shoji said.
"Uraraka. You have to make us float." Izuku said.
"Huh?" Uraraka said.
"And then, Tsu. You launch us as far as you can using your tongue!" Izuku said.
"Ribbit?" Tsu asked.
"Shoji, hold me, Freya, and Todoroki and use your Quirk to correct our trajectory through the air. Measure the distance with your eyes, Uraraka. And then, when the timing looks right, release us!"
"I see. Human bullets." Freya said.
"Wait, Deku. You're still going to fight with those injuries?" Uraraka said.
'With those injuries, I'm surprised he's still conscious. I'm still feeling jolts of pain in my ribs. I'm running on adrenalin right now.' Freya thought.
"Midoriya. You stay here. With that much pain, you..." Todoroki started.
"Trust me, I don't feel any pain right now. I can do this!" Izuku said.
"Wait, Deku, Here!" Uraraka said, taking off her shirt. Freya helped Uraraka wrap Izuku's arms in braces. The four got ready as Tsu wrapped her tongue around them. Uraraka touched them to float. "Okay. Go ahead, Tsu.
"Make sure you've got a good grip on them." Tsu said. Freya let out a yell as Tsu swung them around and threw them. Shoji grabbed all three of them as they flew threw the air, heading for the Villain. They collided with the Villain and Uraraka released them and they fall to the ground on top of him.
"Give Kacchan and Tokoyami back to us!" Izuku said.
"Whoa, whoa. What's this." Freya looked up to see the girl. A guy in black and white was the one that talked and a black-haired man with what looked like half his body was burnt. "Oh, hey, wait, I know these kids. Who are they?" Freya gave him 'Are you crazy?' look. The girl was freaking out.
"Out of the way, Compress." The Burnt man said. Blue flames surround his hand. Freya didn't have time to activate her Erase Quirk.
"Got it." The man said. He disappeared as the Burnt man sent blue flames towards the students.
"That's cool." The black and white suit guy said. Freya cried out as her arm is burnt as she moved out the way but still got burnt a bit. Izuku yelled in pain.
"That's hot!" Freya cried.
"My arm is burning." Shoji said.
"Midoriya! Freya! Shoji!" Todoroki said. The Black and white suit guy got over Todoroki.
"The beat-up little boy and you. You're on Shigaraki's kill list. No, they weren't! But the girl. She's to pretty to kill." Freya noticed his voice seemed to change at times to different sounds. She clutched her arm. Todoroki sent ice towards the man with black and white suit. "So hot!" The girl goes to attack Izuku.
"Hi, Izuku! My name's Toga!" Toga said. She knocked Izuku to the ground and got on top of him. I've been thinking since I saw you.." Toga brough a knife up. "That you'd be so much cuter if you just bled a little more! I can help." She brought the knife down but hit a force field.
"Freya!" Izuku said. Freya stood with her hands glowing.
"You won't touch him, you lunatic." Freya said. Shoji comes and hits her away.
"Midoriya!" Shoji said. Toga landed on the ground.
"So that's how it is." Toga said. Freya watched her with concern. "You want to come between us?" She gripped her knife tighter. "To be honest, you're not really my type." Freya saw a crazed look in Toga's eyes. "But I'll cut you anyway."
"She's crazy." Shoji said. Todoroki kept sending ice at the other guy, who kept dancing out of the way.
"Give me all you've got!" The man in black in white suit said. He destroyed the ice with a ruler type weapon. "Hey, man, cut me some slack!"
"What the hell is with this guy?" Todoroki said. Compress comes out of a marble and walks to the Burnt guy.
"You got Bakugo?" The Burnt man said.
"Of course." Compress said. He rummaged through his pockets and stopped. Shoji knew right away.
"Midoriya. Freya. Todoroki. We're done! He gave away his best trick. I'm not sure what your Quirk is, but it has to do with those little marbles, right?" Shoji said. He stood up. "The ones you'd stashed in your pocket." He holds up two marbles. "So, I'm guessing these are Tokoyami and Bakugo." Freya sighed in relief.
"You rescued them!" Izuku and Freya said. Compress laughed.
"Well, color me impressed. Just as I'd expect from someone with so many hands." Compress said as the students start to run. "How splendid." Todoroki put up an ice wall to hold back some of the villains.
"Right. Nice job, Shoji." Todoroki said. Freya focused on running, but her breaths were coming in ragged breaths. Something came out from the tree.
"No." Freya said.
"A Nomu!" Izuku said. They turned in another direction to be met with the warp guy. The friends come to a stop.
"Not this guy." Shoji said.
"He was at the USJ." Todoroki said.
"We can't catch a break?" Freya asked.
"The Warp villain." Izuku said.
"It's been five minutes since the signal. Let's go, Dabi." Kurogiri said. Warps appear by the villains.
"Sorry, Izuku. But I'll see you later, okay?" Toga said. She stepped through the warp. The other villain jumped through the warp.
"Hold on. We're not leaving without the kid." The burnt man who Freya assumed was Dabi said.
"Don't worry." Freya gasped at Compress words. "They were so proud of themselves for rooting through my pockets that I thought I'd let them gloat. The friends gasp as Compress turned towards them. "But allow me to explain a basic tenant of magic. If I'm flaunting something shiny," He removes his mask. " it's because there's something else, I don't want you to see." He sticks out his tongue and Freya gasped. Two marbles were on his tongue. Todoroki, Izuku, and Freya gasp.
"He's got them!" The trio said. Compress snapped his fingers and the marbles Shoji had disappeared and ice showed up.
"Is that my ice?" Todoroki said.
"That's right. During the freezing attack, I prepared dummies and slipped them into my right pocket." Compress said.
"Damnit!" Izuku yelled, running towards Dabi and Compress. Shoji, Freya, and Todoroki run with him.
"A little bit of misdirection. Forgive me. I do so adore a twist ending." Compress said, as he backed into the warp.
"You can't do this!" Freya yelled. Compress bowed.
"One last bow. And then the curtain fa..." Compress never finished. A beam hits him in the mask.
"Aoyama!" Izuku yelled. The Marbles came out of Compress's mouth. Shoji and Todoroki jump towards them. Izuku falls and takes out Freya and they both yell as they hit the ground and roll. Shoji was able to grab one of the marbles and Todoroki was reaching for the other one. Freya pulled herself up onto her feet as was helping Izuku up.
"Well, isn't that a tragedy." Freya turned and growled. Dabi was holding the other marble. "Poor little Shoto Todoroki." Todoroki hit the ground and slid. Freya and Izuku start running towards the Villains. "Confirm it now. Release them." Compress stepped into the warp but kept an arm out.
"That laser ruined my finale." Compress said, snapping his finger. Freya saw Tokoyami come out of the marble that Shoji had.
"NO!" Freya cried out as Bakugo appeared in front of Dabi. Dabi grabbed Bakugo by the neck. "Katsuki!"
"Checkmate. Heh." Dabi said as he disappeared into the warp. Freya's eyes met Bakugo's. She was almost in tears as he was pulled into the warp gate.
"Kacchan, no!" Izuku said as him and Freya run towards Bakugo. "Kacchan!"
"Katsuki!" Freya yelled as Bakugo was disappearing further in.
"Stay back, Deku, Freya!" Bakugo said. He was gone and the warp gate was gone. Izuku hits the ground. Freya slid to a stop, in shock.
"No. No." Freya mumbled, grabbing her head. The League was gone and Bakugo was with them. Freya felt tears slide down her checks. Izuku screams in anger as everyone stared in shock. Uraraka and Tsu showed up and saw the carnage where Izuku was on his knees crying. Aizawa ran in shortly later.
"Dad!" Freya said, running towards her dad. Aizawa saw the tears running down her face. "They got Katsuki." She hugged her dad as the others tried to calm Izuku down. Aizawa stood in shock but hugged his daughter. Freya felt her energy slipping as the pain returned and she felt her knees give. Aizawa barely had time to catch his daughter and saw her arm was burnt. Kota had told him Freya had hurt her ribs. He gritted his teeth. Most of the students were unconscious and Freya and others were hurt. This was not how the camp was supposed to go.
