Chapter 59: Family Over Fame

Last time on Ultimate Fairy…

"The Council wants more information on you, Lahar informed them you have a confession of him and may intend to use it to blackmail the Council and they want information on you to possibly counter it." Mest said to him.

"Ok, I buy that." Ben said as he was surprised Lahar admitted to his own idiocy "And what about my guild." he said wanting that question answered.

"The Council wants Fairy Tail gone, they're looking for any excuse due to the trouble the guild causes and see them as a renegade light guild, especially after taking out the Orecion Seis." Mest said to him.

Ben chuckled at that as he bet his interview revealed a lot more about any story the Council released "So the Council doesn't want our guild active because we do your job better than you, we took out the Orecion Seis, stopped the Tower of Heaven which they fired upon and activated, got rid of Lullaby when they couldn't even destroy it, stopped Deliorah from being freed, and a bunch of stuff in between, the Council sucked at its job before Jellal destroyed it and are just afraid people will find it unnecessary with our guild as its competition." he said seeing Mest be silent.

Mest couldn't deny that at all as Ben basically broke down what the Council was really after "That pretty much sums it up." he said in admittance as Ben released him.

"Get out of here, if I see you try and manipulate my friends and guild memories again, you will regret it for the rest of your very short life." Ben said as he was sure his threat while not good was lot better than a Council member actively manipulating memories would be bad "And before I forget inform your captain I have more blackmail now." he said showing Mest his badge recording this conversation like he did with Lahar "I warned Lahar and I don't bluff tell him that when you next see him." he said transforming into Jetray flying off.

Mest felt this situation was going to get a lot worse and that Lahar and the Council were going to be less than pleased about this development, but he understand why he couldn't stop smiling.

"I made good time." Jetray said as he landed on the main road to Crocus and transformed back to his normal self, he pulled out the job request "Let's see where they attacked." he said as he read the map and it looked like the attacks happened dead center between his current position and Crocus "Better start walking." he said wanting to see if he could spot anything and used his Plumber badge to scan for anything in proximity.

Ben walked down the path not seeing anything out of the ordinary 'I can see how someone could get robbed here miles between any close towns and Crocus.' he thought as it made sense to degree how this place could be robbed despite being close to the capital.

Ben went down the road not seeing anything or picking up anything on his Plumber badges 'Guess I'll keep walking.' he thought as he kept going before seeing some commotion in the distance, he dialed in an alien "Chamalien!" he shouted before walking to the commotion under cloak and seeing three men attacking a chariot that was on its side seeing them try and pry the door open.

"Man those kids we stole were good money, but do you know what we can get for an actual princess, we'll be set for life!"

"Yeah, but we'll have to leave after this and get as far away as possible."

"What c'mon no way she'll get back home to daddy."

'Morons.' Chamalien thought as his tail grew out a stinger and he quietly approached the group making quick slash mark making papercut-like marks on them 'Thankfully the poison isn't lethal in small doses.' he thought as this form's venom stinger was meant for disorienting prey or killing it with large doses, but even in small doses like the cuts he gave the men it should kick in any moment.

Chamalien didn't have to wait too long as they all dropped, he went to the chariot seeing a keyhole, he brought up his stinger, and began picking the lock and as he did he saw a little girl no older than Wendy 'Should've beaten them up first.' he thought to himself looking at the men that were unconscious, he changed back to normal as Chamalien didn't have a very friendly face "Hi are you ok?" he asked seeing the girl still frightened 'Maybe one of my more cute aliens.' he thought thinking that might make her less frightened 'Maybe Ditto?' he thought thinking the extra pair of hands would be useful and he soon found Ditto and slammed the Omnitrix "Spidermonkey!" he said looking himself over "Well at least I have extra hands." he said as he climbed inside.

The girl saw a blue creature and saw its spider-like eyes and crouched in fear thinking it would hurt her.

"Hey it's gonna be ok, I'm not here to hurt you." Spidermonkey said picking her up and taking her out of the carriage "Look the bad men are taken care of." he said webbing them up quickly.

The girl opened her eyes and saw the men were indeed down for the count "What are you?" she asked curiously.

"I'm a member of Fairy Tail, my real name is Ben Tennyson." Spidermonkey said as he put her down on the ground and lifted the carriage up, he tossed the webbed-up kidnappers to the back of the carriage.

"So are you the mage with the Titan transformation?" the girl asked him boredly.

Spidermonkey chuckled "Yeah I am." he said as he saw Way Big's appeal as he loved the alien when he was a child.

"Can I see it!?" the girl asked with excitement pouring out of her.

Spidermonkey reserved Way Big for serious encounters "How about I show you something a little smaller." he said slamming the dial "Humungousaur!" he said thinking this was more suitable and wouldn't take up to much power.

The girl marveled at the giant reptile taking in its massive size and the strength it possessed.

Humungousaur gave the carriage a light push.

"So what can you magic do?" the girl asked just brimming with questions.

Humungousaur chuckled as he answered her every question pulling the cart "I'll take you home princess." he said noting one flaw in his plan…there were no horses around to pull "Wanna see something cool?" he asked slamming the dial and transformed into Wildmutt.

The girl smiled at the seemingly aggressive-looking dog with no eyes and saw it approach her and nuzzled against her "You're so soft." she said petting him and feeling him growl in approval.

Wildmutt brought her to the rider part of the carriage as he went to the front attaching some rope to the carriage and his mouth as he began pulling it to Crocus at a great pace, he could soon see the city in the distance and he didn't think he should look like a rampaging animal with a princess, he slowed down and transformed back into his normal self.

"We can walk the rest of the way from here." Ben said as he picked up the little girl "I never got your name?" he asked her and saw the girl looked downcast a bit.

"Hisui E. Fiore." Hisui said saying her name as if practiced many times and expected him to kiss up to her as many people had done for the sake of her future status as ruler, but she waited and waited and saw no change in the man.

"Halt!" many guards said as they aimed swords at Ben as they saw he had the princess.

"Drop your weapons, this man saved my life!" Hisui said as the guards lowered their weapons "Sorry." she said as this was a common occurrence whenever she was near someone.

'Man this sucks.' Ben thought as he was being held at arms length from Hisui and was told he would be reporting to the king to tell what events had transpired, his escort consited of a few guards and a man who looked like a grim reaper.

"I hope for your sake your story is true young man, the king is not one for mercy when his daughter is concerned." the lead knight said to him.

"Do the guys with known criminal records not help my case?" Ben asked as he told the knights about the carriage and he overheard them saying the men had prior crimes in Fiore and small bounties on them.

"Perhaps, but we still do not have the full story, and believe me we will hear it." the man looking like a reaper said to him having a look that bore no compassion or hate but would still cut him down if ordered.

Ben could honestly say he had been in worse sports, they made it to the throne room where they saw the king waiting for them.

"Hi daddy!" Hisui said greeting her father seeing his face melt at his daughter's safety.

Ben waited for Hisui tell her father what happened and he then began to spoke "Can I reach into my jacket?" he asked thinking if he made a move they didn't approve of he'd be stabbed, the king gave his nod and Ben pulled out a job "I took this job and was on the search for men kidnapping children, my guild made sure no one had taken it and approved of it which can be verified by whoever sent the request." he said as the king nodded "I found Hisui on the roar as the three idiots I handed over to your guards were trying to break into her carriage." he said as Hisui backed him up "After that I brought her here." he said as it was short and simple.

The king nodded and was told who the three men were and with his daughter telling him what happened and given the fact Ben came here of his own free will he saw his words as pure truth "You have my thanks, Mr Tennyson and your reward shall be tripled for saving my daughter and the bounties of the men you brought in." he said as he felt that was appropriate given the kingdom issued the request, Ben saved his daughter, and the bounties being added made up the rise in reward.

Ben felt like he had little choice in the matter so he nodded.

"The job was 300,000 jewels, so I will give you a million." the king said throwing in a bonus "Guards bring in the men and prepare them for execution." he said as their crimes current and present were disgusting and the fact they tried to kidnap his daughter warranted execution.

The guards left them.

"Hisui go to your room I will see you in a bit, Arcadios if you please." the king said as the head knight took Hisui to her room and the king looked to Ben "I must thank you again for saving my daughter young man, she is all I have left." he said as Ben understood completely the value of family.

The conversation was put on hold when a guard came in.

"Where are the prisoners?" the king asked wondering where they were.

"Your majesty they…passed." the knight said to him.

"What, how!?" the king asked in surprise.

Ben was curious as to how three men he had tied up died in the span of when he left them in broad daylight.

The guard seemed nervous but summoned two other guards as they brought in the corpses, but they were defiled as their faces had a skull-like design over them and on each of their stomaches each having one word that when arranged spelled 'I'm coming Ben.'.

"Have anything to say?" the king asked him assuming this was some kind of threat directed to the man that saved his daughter.

"You ever have this weird conspiracy where someone is trying to murder you just because you have power?" Ben asked him getting a laugh.

"My boy I am king, everyone wants me dead for something." the king said as he had a guard collect the bodies and had Ben regal him with his tale of Hex.

The king listened intently to the boy as he explained this was a wanted man and while the crime was a decade ago he knew who Hex was and what dangers he presented "My boy if you ever come into contact with this man or find his intentions please come to me directly." he said summoning someone "This is a royal seal, do not lose it." he said to him strictly "It will allow you certain privileges, no toll fees, unrestricted access to Magical files in the Council, and access to my castle." he said as royal seals were meant for advisers or people who have earned the rank "This monster had killed a thousand people, if you know anything or come across anything please inform me." he said as he didn't want this monster to roam free.

"Yes your majesty, but may I make a small request?" Ben asked him getting a nod "You see I've been having trouble with the Magic Council." he said filling him in on all the actions that the Council took to now and certain details they didn't mention to the king.

The king listened to the actions of the Council aware of some of them, but also now knowing both old and new kept details hidden and Ben even provided him proof of the new Magic Council's actions with his recordings of Lahar and "Those people are idiots." he said to no one in particular "Given that the Council is showing signs of wasting resources I shall make a formal complaint and shall not mention you my boy." he said not giving the Council a target as Fairy Tail took out a leading dark guild in the Balam Alliance, paid for their damages so that canceled out their destructive habits in his mind, besides that they seemed like a decent guild.

"Thanks here." Ben said handing him the Plumber badge he had "You can use that to contact me." he said as having the king on contact would be good.

The king nodded "Now that we have moved on from that topic I have a job request for you." he said seeing Ben look confused "This involves my daughter, I found it odd she had no knights with her as she returned to the castle and the criminals that you captured somehow escaped from my dungeons." he said to him.

'Those clowns?' Ben thought feeling bad for thinking ill of the dead, but those men didn't seem smart enough to get out of the dungeons.

"I wish to hire you to watch over my daughter for the next few days as you have shown you are capable, loyal, and do not like corruption." the king said as Ben didn't seem like the type that would succumb to others wishes and given his status as the strongest in his guild, there was no better option to watch over his daughter.

Ben didn't have it in him to refuse as Hisui was a sweet kid and he couldn't walk away from a child in danger.

"I shall provide you with an escort, Kama." the king said looking to the now-named grim reaper-looking mage.

"Yes, my king." Kama said as he started walking Ben following behind him.

Both men ventured through the castle going down a few floors "These are the guest chambers of the castle, staff will check on you periodically to see to your every whim." he said to him as he'd inform the staff of the newest residence "And be dutiful to watching the king's daughter." he said to him as he left leaving Ben to his chambers.

'I need to make a call.' Ben thought activating the Omnitrix "Hey Mira you there?" he asked as Mira didn't have her badge usually on her as she usually left it with her communication lacrima, he waited a few minutes and soon heard her.

"Ben you finish the job?" Mira asked over the line.

"Yeah, but I got saddled with another I couldn't refuse, by the king of Fiore himself." Ben said explaining the details of today's events.

"Wow Ben you have a fan and you saved her, are we sure Erza's the gallant knight in your relationship?" Mira asked teasingly before she reigned in her more devious nature "Listen Ben, this is the highest priority contact we could get, you impressed him by saving his daughter and while it's not normal guild policy to accept requests in person without the mission coming through to the guild, I'll inform master about how your hands got tied." she said as to be asked by the king on the spot was not something one could say no to.

"Thanks and anyway I expected the request to take a day or two regardless so this doesn't really change anything." Ben said to her as heexpected to be gone for longer than one day.

Mira smiled as she closed the line thinking it was adorable Ben lost all his wit when children were concerned, it was an admirable quality as a man willing to spend time with children and to make sure they were happy and safe, she looked at Wendy seeing the girl talking to Lucy and Erza enjoying lunch seeing the bright smile on her face 'He does nice work.' she thought as Wendy was more confident, was working harder in both training and her jobs, and was developing nicely under Ben's wing 'Erza was right that girl is powerful.' she thought as it was hard to believe that little girl was able to keep up with the likes of Natsu and Gajeel at her age.

Ben woke up early at the rise of dawn 'Not much to do on your own.' he thought as he decided to occupy his time, he decided to do some morning stretches and some daily workouts to kill time and be active as he guessed the princess would be sleeping in, he got himself on routine as during his soccer days he made sure to keep in shape despite being just the goalie.

Ben worked out for an hour and went to the bathroom in his room and took a shower making sure he was smelling fresh and after his morning rituals, he went to look for Hisui, he ran into a servant of the castle and she pointed to the dining area.

"Ben!" Hisui said with food in her mouth looking very un-princess-like, but no one seemed bothered.

"Ball Weevil!" Ball Weevil exclaimed as he was showing Hisui some transformations and demonstrating a few of their powers, they were being watched by the guards.

"You are so cute!" Hisui said as even for a bug it looked adorable.

"Wanna see something cool!" Ball Weevil said as he made small tiny balls of green goo and tossed each one up detonating them making small green fireworks which the princess marveled at.

"You're getting pretty good." Rex said to Erza as she had been practicing her powers with her swords and so far she had made no progress whatsoever, but her skill was undeniable.

Erza wasn't feeling his praise as she had hit a wall she didn't know how to overcome as she could set her sword on fire and make a spear combining it's natural lightning with water, but that's where it ended.

"You know it's gonna be hard Erza nanites aren't magic in nature they are machinery, so maybe instead of forcing or making them, you adapt." Rex said offering some tips as when he got his Omega nanite he had to adapt and figure out a way to make his omega builds, he needed to think and develop those builds.

Erza sighed and guessed this was something she would have to learn for herself 'Maybe I need more training.' she thought as while she did have elemental armor she mainly used and focused on her physically enhancing armor.

"Um, master can I talk to you?" Wendy asked him peeking into his office.

Makarov carefully his the booze he was about to gorge as if his life depended on it "Yes my dear." he said motioning her to come in "What is it you need?" he asked her wondering why she was here.

"Um I need some help with something, but I don't want Ben to know." Wendy said as she sat down on the chair in front of his desk.

Makarov felt his interest peek as Wendy being secretive seemed out of character especially if it meant hiding things "And what do you need?" he asked curiously as to what sweet innocent Wendy could want.

Wendy took a deep breath "I need to go to prison." she said seeing the surprise on the master's face seeing she truly blindsided him.

Makarov never expected the request as it was something he couldn't ever imagine Wendy wanting to go there.

"Hey mama?" Happy said sweetly and innocently to Lisanna as she was working at the bar.

"I can't give you free fish Happy." Lisanna said shutting down that idea as Mira told her how Happy would sometimes beg for fish from her and she only gave in when he would trade her information as Happy would do anything for fish.

"Awwww." Happy said as that sucked "No, I wanted you to teach me your magic." he said as Lisanna stop the order she was preparing.

"You want to learn Take Over magic!?" Lisanna said in excitement that her son wanted to learn her magic.

"Yeah." Happy said as he had seen Elfman train with Ben and he wanted to learn to and since his mom was a Take Over mage he decided to take the opportunity.

"We'll start after my shift!" Lisanna said in excitement eager to start training Happy..

'I know what I want.' Happy thought as he knew what forms Ben had that he wanted to Take Over.

Mira's interest was now peaked as Happy learning transformation magic would be interesting, especially given she had seen Pantherlily use it to change from his human-sized self to his cat self 'I always expected him to learn fire magic.' she thought as if she had to pick a magic Happy would learn it be fire 'He coil bribe Natsu easier.' she thought as the father and son duo had a give and take relationship and often messed with the other, but still loved and support

Ben felt like he was getting old as the princess was certainly putting him through his paces as she was a bundle of energy 'Man who knew keeping a kid entertained would be this exhausting.' he thought to himself as Wendy was a polite young lady while Hisui was like Natsu having limitless undying energy.

Ben went with the princess and went to dine with her and the king, the princess was sent to bed at the end leaving Ben all alone with the king.

"I'm assuming you have another task for me." Ben said as it wasn't a question but more a pure statement as he had seen enough politicians and espionage that the king didn't want anyone else to hear.

"I may have some people in the kingdom that may be the guilty party responsible for my daughter's attempted kidnapping." the king said as he went through certain files and taxes focusing in on when the now deceased prisoners were first captured and what people in power could've been a part of it.

"So, I need to keep an eye on them, and if I see anything of note report it back to you." Ben said not using any of the more aggressive words, his uncle teaching him the way of how some shady businessmen operate and how to use those tricks against them.

The king nodded as Ben transformed.

"Big Chill!" Big Chill said unfurling his wings "I may be gone most of the night, can I get a list of the names?" he asked as the king presented him with an already done list with addresses "Mind letting me sleep in tomorrow this might keep me up most of the night?" he asked as it was merely a request so Hisui didn't wake him up at the crack of dawn.

The king caught on and laughed before giving him a nod.

Big Chill phased through the floor and began his search as this required his immediate attention if these men were selling children he'd put all his effort into making them pay.

Wendy woke up bright and early the next day seeing Carla was still asleep, she quietly moved got dressed, and made it downstairs.

"Where do you think you're going?" Gajeel asked making Wendy nearly jump out of her skin "I'll give you props for being smarter than most brats your age, but try not to sneak off during a brawl you caused." he said as yesterday Wendy had started a guild brawl using her wind to smack booze into Elfman's face and given the man liked his booze and had a fuse as short as Natsu's as well as being as equally dumb a brawl started, he saw her sneak into the master's office and guessed something was going down, her sneaking out confirmed it.

"I need to go somewhere with master today." Wendy said to him keeping it short.

Gajeel was now less concerned but even more curious "Where?" he asked as he had a soft spot for Wendy and Ben would absolutely DESTROY him if he let Wendy do something suicidal even if master was present.

"I'm going to prison." Wendy said to him seeing him bark out in laughter.

Gajeel laughed as the idea of Wendy going to prison was adorable "Oh yeah what going to turn yourself in for being adorable." he said giggling as some stray tears came out his eyes and as he calmed down he saw the seriousness in her eyes "Oh hell you're not kidding." he said in surprise as she shook her head "I'm coming and this is not an argument do you know how dead I would be if Ben knew I knew and didn't go with you." he said as he had been in holding enough times and knew the Council often tried to make their threats and points clear "Actually I may know someone, but I need to make a call to Ben." he said as this contact was off the grid.

"You need me to find a former councilwoman?" Ben asked from his bed slightly exhausted as he had been up all night as Big Chill going through buildings looking for secret passages, going through hidden files looking for false claims and the like, and even stalking some of the people last night that were on the list.

"Yeah, can you find her?" Gajeel asked him.

Ben decided not to ask questions in his exhaustion "I'll call you in ten minutes." he said as he needed to give the information to the king so he'd ask him for the councilwoman's location.

Ben went to the throne room and handed the king of some documents he stole and told him of some information he collected, many of the people on that list would be more closely monitored and the kidnappings should be stopped soon if not immediately, he made his request to the king and saw him get a communication lacrima and ask for the location of the former councilwoman after he left the throne room Ben gave the information to Gajeel.

Gajeel thankfully under the effect of Wendy's Troia spell sat in the train with Makarov and Wendy, Wendy was catching up on some sleep as she was not used to being up so early "I can't believe you're doing this." he said looking to the master once he was sure Wendy was asleep "Me I get, but you." he said unable to believe he was letting her do something this dangerous.

"She would've found a way better we are there to help her than for her to be alone." Makarov said to him as Gajeel conceded to that point.

"Still though why this guy I mean I heard what he did and why would he ever help her?" Gajeel asked as he asked Makarov who she was so keen on seeing and it still surprised him.

"I asked her that same question and she is going to barter with him." Makarov said as there were no cons and only pros to this endeavor.

Gajeel had to admit he saw there was nothing to lose as well, but the present risk, if something happened, was still there.

The train soon stopped and Gajeel gently picked up Wendy and carried her careful not to wake her.

They ventured to a small town where Gajeel went to a door and knocked on it and who opened it was none other than former councilwoman Belno.

"Gajeel?" Belno said in surprise seeing him and two others "Come in." she said allowing them inside.

They all entered the house and Gajeel placed Wendy near the master the little girl still sleeping as Gajeel leaned against the wall.

"You wouldn't come to me for nothing Gajeel, what is it?" Belno asked raising a brow as she was honestly surprised he came to her period.

"I need to see a prison the magic council has." Gajeel said not mentioning it was for the little girl currently sleeping as he was sure she might kill him for being so stupid.

"Which prisoner?" Belno asked needing that bit of information and when she was told her chair she was sitting on fell back as how quickly she rose "Have you lost your mind, why him?" she asked him.

"Can you do it?" Gajeel asked her.

"Yes, but Gajeel this man is a terrorist, he has so much blood and death on his hands being near him is a threat to your life." Belno said as this was wreckless even by his standards "I blame you for this." she said looking at Makarov as while she heard he was going much straighter than the path he was on before, she saw his wreckless tendencies haven't gone down "If he dies, there will be consequences Makarov." she said seeing him smile at her as he nodded "I'll make the call." she said seeing them leave.

Gajeel stopped at the entrance of the door "...Thanks, it was nice seeing you again." he said as he left not seeing the sad smile on her face as she cried as he left.

"You have done Fiore a great service Ben Tennyson, the information you collected allowed us to make many arrests." the king said to Ben "On top of your 600,000 jewel rewards I wish to offer you a gift." he said as he motioned for a nearby knight to hand him his sword "Ben Tennyson for your heroic work and for saving my daughter and possibly countless children, I knight thee." he said tapping Ben's shoulders with the sword he had just gotten from his knight.

Ben was amazed and also found it funny as he fought the Forever Knights his entire life and while unimpressive, for him to be a knight was kinda cool especially since he had a knightly girlfriend 'Erza is gonna lose her mind.' he thought to himself.

"You have proven to be both ally and friend to me and the kingdom in non-formal settings address me as Toma." Toma said offering a kind smile to Ben as the young man truly amazed him in their short time together.

Ben nodded "It has been a pleasure, but I think I need to say goodbye to the princess, I make enough women angry at me." he said as Toma burst into laughter as he knew his little girl's temper and thanked him for being so considerate to his daughter as he had seen she gained a true friend.

Rex was taking a B-class quest today for some protection at Sorcerer Weekly as apparently they wanted to hire protection and wanted to interview him and he was being compensated for both parts 'Word must've spread me and Ben are old friends.' he thought as Mira told him as much before he left.

Rex made it to Sorcerer Weekly and walked inside the protection was merely a simple thing stopping a few stalkers here and there.

"Hi you're the new Fairy Tail mage, Rex right?" a young blonde said to him.

"Yeah." Rex said seeing her guild symbol was from Blue Peagusus.

"So where are you hiding them?" the girl asked him seeing his confusion "The machines silly." she said as he looked surprised.

'Is there magic capable of sensing my nanites?' Rex thought as most things except advanced tech couldn't pick up his microscopic machines "I make machines." he said to her as that was pure honesty as he made his sword.

The girl marveled at it and told hims he used a magic called Take Over Machina.

'So her take over powers revolve around machine parts.' Rex thought seeing as to how this girl could sense his nanites now.

They talked for abit here and there learning this girl was a model and that her name was Jenny Realight a young up and coming model and mage the shoot went off without any problems, but he did run into something, he never could've expected.

"Man~!"

Rex saw what he could only guess was some kinda troll of a man in a white suit and he soon started to freak him out talking about his 'pafume'.

Jenny watched the interesting meeting and was not surprised when Ichiya was punched in the face by Rex's giant metal hands.

"The hospital wing?" Gajeel asked as the guards were taking them to this part of the prison "How bad did Ben leave this guy?" he asked the master.

"It wasn't Ben that was the reason he was sent here, from what Ben told me this was from Natsu." Makarov said seeing the surprise in Gajeel's face as the people they were passing by were in terrible states.

Gajeel wasn't sure he should be impressed or horrified a place like this existed for criminals as it was like a zoo with criminals in glass rooms trapped like animals.

"So we meet again…sky maiden." a bald headed man with a few tufts of white hair, his skin was as pale as his white hair, he had spots and weird marks on his body.

"So who am I talking to…Zero or Brain?" Wendy asked him her eyes not even bothering to hide her glare for the man.

"Brain I believe." 'Brain' said as Wendy and the others believed him as he looked terrible and unsure.

Wendy raised her hand healing his face, but not the rest of his body "I want to make a trade." she said seeing much of his anguish disappear momentarily.

"For?" Brain asked wondering what she wanted.

"You know mana spells, I can use mana now." Wendy said as her hand glowed pink and Brain was impressed.

"My you Dragon Slayers grow so much, how is the cause of this growth Ben Tennyson?" Brain asked her seeing her glare.

"None of your damn business." Gajeel said his eyes flashing purple for a moment.

"And you are?" Brain asked not knowing his face.

"The Iron Dragon Slayer and Ben's friend, if you speak his name again whatever is happening to your body won't kill you." Gajeel said as the threat was clear.

"My my such loyal and strong lap dogs he keeps." Brain said to him before he fell to the ground clutching his skull in agony.

"You will stop talking Brain, I am here for the mana spells you know." Wendy said as she placed some paper and a pen in a slot to his cell "The only thing you are getting from me is healing you from that radiation damage, because you know I am the only one who can and if you mess with me I will let the radiation kill you." she said as she trained her powers to be better aquainted when she healed Natsu the first time.

Brain began writing down on the paper, writing instructions, pronunciations, and descriptions of the spells "There, now heal me!" he said in agitation.

"How do I know this is everything?" Wendy asked as she only saw a dozen spells on this.

Gajeel and Makarov were impressed of her suspicions.

"And how do we know these aren't crap." Gajeel said to him wanting Wendy to always be asking the right questions.

"He's not, those are all the spells he knows." a familiar cocky voice the sky maiden knew a few cells down "It's me small fry." he said as Wendy went down and saw a familiar face…Cobra.

Wendy nodded "She's fine by the way." she said as she had met the guild's newest member alongside her "Ben keeps an eye one her and she's my friend." she said not getting a response "She doesn't remember much, but she remembers you." she said as there were subtle things she saw that hinted to that.

Cobra didn't say much "Tell Tennyson thanks for me." he said as he'd rarely feel gratitude for anyone, but for Ben he'd openly admit it.

"Her name is Kiana young man, she's a beautiful young woman." Makarov said to him.

Erik said nothing but gave him a slight nod.

"So another second generation slayer." Gajeel said hearing about this man and how his element was poison.

Cobra rolled his eyes as he was used to the thoughts this Dragon Slayer had "Hey kid." he said grabbing a mug in his cell and put it to his mouth and fangs popped out and dripped into the mug "Do whatever you want with that." he said passing the mug through the food slot "And listen, I can hear a lot has changed from when we last met, that's good you're becoming more of a wizard then and not that scared little girl, but you're still afraid." he said not needing his eyes, nose, or ears to know that "Don't be afraid of what you can do kid and be ready to unleash that hidden strength you have buried underneath." he said smiling as he heard a familiar slurping sound.

"Ok I think we've had enough of crazy prison Wendy can you heal the whiney dumbass." Gajeel said as Brain was complaining now "And you, poison to a little girl are you serious." he said picking up the cup seeing it was empty.

"That poison was vapor dumbass I don't make pure liquid, poison comes in all forms." Cobra said as his element was diverse allowing him more than one means.

Gajeel looked to Wendy and saw she had been chewing on something and didn't have to think to hard on what "Ok heal the old man and let's get out of here!" he said as he and Wendy went back to Brain to shut him up.

"Thanks Cobra, I'll put this to good use." Wendy said to him as she started healing Brain.

Cobra chuckled thinking Wendy would be a lot more dangerous now.

Makarov was left with Cobra as the two had a silent conversation knowing the young man could HEAR him well enough.

"I feel like an idiot." Happy said not looking like himself as Lisanna had been trying to get him to work on human transformation and he made it work, but she had made him focus on turning into someone familiar and so he picked Natsu, his form was identical to a young Natsu, but his hair was his natural blue fur color nut it had white tips looking somewhat frosted, his ears were still his cat ears, and he still had his tail, but the rest of him looked like Natsu.

"You are so adorable!" Mira and Lisanna said as Happy looked very cute as a little Natsu with some Lisanna features.

'I wonder if I could make him cry.' Mira thought always thinking of how cute Natsu looked when he cried.

They walked into the guild and people saw Happy and were slightly shocked seeing him look like the father that raised him.

"Oh my god." Natsu said seeing the mini him "Look at this guy, he looks like me!" he said unconsciously petting his head.

Happy didn't have fur to hide his blush and people just awed at him.

"Listen Happy human transformations are hard, but you are doing it like a pro." Lisanna said encouragingly as Happy made great progress today to make it so he could look somewhat human.

"She's right Happy changing your form even to something familiar is hard." Mira said as Happy told her what he was gonna try and accomplish and she had high hopes for the Exceed as he showed much promise.

"You're training Happy, I'll help!" Natsu said as when training was involved he was always down to help.

Happy turned ghostly pale as Natsu was a slave driver for himself, he could only think of the horror he had in mind for his training.

"Sure!" Mira said as Happy being put in a combat situation and the fact Natsu was a walking combat situation would help Happy develop faster under more strenuous means.

"Happy's becoming a Take Over mage, HA guess we knew who he really takes after huh Natsu." Elfman said as Happy was now part of Team Strauss.

"Happy is part of Team Dragneel!" Natsu shouted loudly.

"Is he now." Lisanna said giving him a look that looked very close to the one Mira often had, but to everyone's amazement Natsu didn't back down.

'Wow, he grew a pair.' Everyone thought surprised Natsu could stand up to a Strauss woman.

"I warmed his egg!" Lisanna argued.

"We both did!" Natsu challenged.

Happy decided to go to the bar Mira serving him a glass of milk for a great day of training.

"Do you even have a last name?" Mira asked never checking before.

Happy shook his head.

'Those two thick headed idiots are gonna be at this for a while.' Mira thought as people were placing bets on the victor of the 'marriage falling out' and occasionally punched someone who made a sexist remark about her sister, she went to the office and pulled out Happy's guild forms and saw it was just Happy, she went back to the bar and served him another glass of milk "How about your middle name is Strauss and your last name is Dragneel?" she asked as she was sure Natsu would love for Happy to carry his name, but she also knew Lisanna wanted the same and since Natsu was a single parent for two years she kinda had to give him that for stepping up for Happy.

"Wow really?" Happy asked Mira 'Happy Strauss Dragneel.' he thought thinking that sounded perfect.

"You've always been part of my family Happy ever since that day Lisanna helped hatch you." Mira said as while she never really showed it, she did love Happy as he was the most important thing to Lisanna and after her passing she made sure to make sure he was doing alright, a task Natsu did well on his own, but she often gave him a few freebies likes some fish and milk whenever he was hungry.

Happy cheered at his new full name as he began shouting it loud and proud.

The guild celebrated the new naming of Happy.

Mira smiled seeing her nephew was so happy, but she also noticed Lucy was staring a bit intently at Natsu and Lisanna 'Sorry Luce, I won't pit against you, but romance is something that needs to be fought for.' she thought as Lucy needed to make a move if she wanted that connection with Lisanna 'But if Natsu breaks my sister's heart I may have to kill him.' she thought as she wouldn't let anyone live if they broke her sister's heart.

"What'd I miss?" Ben said walking in.

"Happy got a last and middle name." Mira said keeping it simple.

"Really good for him." Ben said as Mira brought him a smoothie not even needing to ask him what he desired as he'd eat any combo.

"Hey where's Erza?" Ben asked her.

"She's in the woods." Rex said coming into the guild "She and Pantherlily are training out there and I'll be honest it looks like a damn war zone." he said as there were trees slashed in various ways, the ground had many impact marks, and both warriors looked like they had taken their fair share of blows.

Ben nodded in gratitude "You ok?" he asked noticing he looked tired.

"Dealt with this orange haired troll and went to do an interview also Sorcerer Weekly is really desperate for gossip on you." Rex said to him as Ben let out a chuckle "They want all the gossip they can get man it's kinda scary." he said as Mira now let out a laugh.

"They want to know every little secret about people in the spotlight Rex, they want to see them at their best, their worst, or the inbetween." Mira said to him "I'm a model and most women and men-" she said pointing at Macao and Wakaba "want to see me naked." she said as she finished her sentence.

Both Ben and Rex made the wise decision of not commenting and looking down past Mira's face.

"Oh I got knighted today by the king." Ben said to her.

"Congrats man." Rex said ordering a celebratory shot both would drink.

Mira saw Erza come in and began to approach Ben 'Ah good old fashioned teasing and mayhem it's been a while.' she thought as she "Everyone!" she said screaming out getting everyone's attention "Ben has been knighted by the king, let us mark this day by naming him Oberon, King of the Fairies !" she said as many began to cheer.

"Oberon!" many of the guild cheered.

Mira was loving this and it was about to get better "Hey Titania you need to kiss your king." she said as she saw Erza blush, but steel her nerve as she claimed Ben's lips.

They got many wolf whistles and many other jealous noises from both sexes.

"Give me one reason!" Heatblast said as outside the guild as he was threatening the master and Gajeel "You two feckless morons took her to a prison to see Zero!" he said his flames rising in response to his anger.

Erza was sitting back deciding to let this play out as she agreed with Ben as taking Wendy to see Brain or Zero or whomever he was for information was idiotic and to let Wendy go was pure idiocy.

Makarov was rarely talked down to and rarely did he ever feel he didn't have it coming, he understood Ben's anger and it was more than justified "Ben she would've gone regardless, we only went to make sure she wasn't harmed." he said to him.

Heatblast took a long fiery breath actual flames coming out his mouth as he breathed "We're not done." he said to Makarov simply "And you two are far from off the hook we'll talk when we get home." he said as both seemingly pouted and when he glared they began running home.

Erza was impressed Ben was able to make decent threats that the situation demanded of as if he didn't she would have.

Heatblast changed back "I ain't paying for the scorch marks!" he said to Makarov hearing the old man sigh.

"So what do you intend to do?" Erza asked him wondering if he planned anything.

"I'll let Gajeel off the hook, gramps was right Wendy would've gone with or without them they just made sure she was safe." Ben said as he could've let that go "But I can't let Wendy keep doing things like this." he said as Wendy was starting to remind him of…him when he was a kid.

Erza had to admit he made a point.

"I've been thinking of something lately, but I wasn't sure if it needed to be done, but today I see it's needed." Ben said as he walked home with Erza as she didn't quite catch what he meant.

They made it home and decided to get some sleep for the night.

Erza looked at Ben as he slept thinking it must've hurt that Wendy couldn't come to him for something, especially something dangerous like this 'I wonder what he'll do tomorrow.' she thought as Ben could've acted in a number of ways as he made sure to always look after Wendy, especially after Edolas and what Carla had done, she moved a little closer and rested her head on his chest blushing as she heard his heartbeat and smiled even more when he now had a smile of his own on his face as he slept and smelled her scarlet locks.

…

"Are you here to kill me?" Gajeel asked as Erza woke him up by slapping his face with the flat end of her sword.

"Gajeel if I was here to kill you, I would've slowly castrated you with one of my broken blunt training swords and then letting you bleed out." Erza said as she'd never do that but she did enjoy the look of fear on his face "Get up we're leaving, Ben is going to speak to Wendy and he doesn't want prying eyes." she said to him.

Gajeel got dressed and saw her steal his badge "You planted your badge as a bug didn't you?" he asked her not getting an answer.

"Is it really wise to listen in on something so private?" Pantherlily asked from the small bed Gajeel got him.

Erza ignored them as they left the house and went to the guild nothing happening yet.

"What are you doing?" Mira asked wondering why they were here at the crack of dawn.

"Erza is spying on Ben as he's going to talk to Wendy about her going to prison yesterday." Pantherlily said to her hoping she'd be the voice of reason.

Instead of being mature, Mira sat right next to Erza wanting to hear this.

Carla was also listening intently wondering what Ben would say as she knew he could be harsh and he could be kind.

"Drama addicts." Rex mumbled under his breath and drank his coffee as he was listening in as Erza dragged him out of bed so early he had nothing better to do.

"Wendy." Ben's voice said coming over the badge.

They all listened wondering how this would unfold.

Wendy felt nervous that Ben was sitting at the breakfast table waiting for her, she sat from the opposite seat from him.

"You know what you did yesterday was beyond wreckless right?" Ben asked her as she nodded.

"I wanted to learn more spells, you seemed to be working so hard and I wanted to learn to…I wanted to make you proud." Wendy said as ever since she got mana she felt closer to Ben than before.

Ben sighed "Wendy, you don't need to learn something to make me proud of you, you make me proud by being yourself every day." he said as Wendy was all kinds of amazing and special.

Wendy felt even worse hearing that feeling like an idiot.

"Wendy you are like me, it's not a bad thing or a good thing." Ben said as he had many faults and he didn't need her getting his more worse traits "You just need to be you cause you're perfect when being yourself." he said with a smile.

Wendy blushed as no one had ever called her perfect before and she could truly tell Ben meant it.

"But Wendy this can't happen again alright." Ben said as while he knew she was capable, she was still a kid who needed to be a kid.

Wendy nodded still feeling guilty.

"But there is something more I wanted to ask you." Ben said as he moved closer "Wendy…I want to adopt you." he said to her seeing the shock in her eyes.

Wendy didn't know what to say and felt her eyes immediately began building up in tears and she cried hugging Ben tightly as she sobbed into his chest.

Ben hugged her closely letting her cry into him.

The group was stunned by what they heard unable to say anything as to hear Ben was adopting Wendy was huge news.

"Congrats Erza you're dating a DILF." Mira said teasingly as it was a bit funny teasing Erza.

Erza blushed in both pride and happiness for Wendy.

Gajeel felt this was worth getting up for as Wendy deserved this 'Ben will be good to her.' he thought to himself.

Pantherlily was reminded of when he took Mystogan under his wing when they left Extalia.

Carla felt happy for Wendy having a parent again hearing her cries made her cry as well.

Rex was proud of his friend and felt his respect for Ben rise to new heights as he himself was an orphan, but found a family.

"Why do I hear crying?" Makarov asked seeing the group hearing crying coming from the badge.

"Ben adopted Wendy." Mira said to him seeing the surprise.

"I was joking." Makarov said as when Ben was so protective of Wendy he made a few jokes about how he was a father to her, but never thought he'd actually do it 'Always full of surprises.' he thought never more proud than he was right now.

They all listened to Wendy's sobs begin to quiet down.

"You-you really want me?" Wendy asked her voice breaking sound more fragile than anything in the world "And you won't leave me?" she asked as she didn't want to be left ever again.

"No Wendy, I swear on my life I won't leave you." Ben said meaning every word he said as she cried more into his chest "I love you Wendy." he said feeling her cry some more.

The group decided to turn off the badge feeling crappy for listening in.

"Well I'll talk to Ben more tomorrow it's going to be a big day." Makarov said to them as they all looked at him "You know tomorrow?" he said a bit confused to their confusion "His birthday is tomorrow." he said as they all looked horrified not knowing that.

"Out of my way!" Gajeel said as he went outside Pantherlily following behind him.

"I need to find Natsu!" Carla said as she was going to get Ben a gift as an apology and she thought the Fire Dragon Slayer would be a good source of information.

"So any ideas?" Mira asked Erza seeing her try to think, but saw she came up with nothing 'Rare to see her with an empty head like Natsu.' she thought as Erza seemed to be panicking "You know you could give him IT." she said to her long time friend seeing her blush "Erza for the love of everything, you share a bed, shared trauma, live together, and have confessed your love any girl would've taken him by this point." she said seeing Erza's head begin to smoke up "Try something from one of your more favorite books." she said having borrowed many of Erza's books without her knowing "The queen should show her love to her king." she said to her holding back a laugh.

Erza ran out dragging Rex with her needing to find Ben a gift quickly.

"She makes it too easy, it's almost no fun." Mira said to no one in particular "Master, mind covering the bar, I'll get Elfman to help." she said as Elfman would be happy to help.

Everyone was scrambling to find Ben the perfect gift.

…

"What are we going to get Ben?" Pantherlily asked Gajeel as they ran through town.

"I already have something in mind, a while back I made a special order just need to make sure it's done." Gajeel said as he felt it was his duty as Ben's teacher to get him a guitar worthy of himself and being his student "Hey old man you in." he said running into his favorite music store.

"Gajeel it's the crack of dawn, why are you in such a rush?" an elderly man wearing circular shades that were tinted blue.

"Hey old man I need that special order I asked for last time I was here." Gajeel said quickly.

"Yeah I got it right here." the old man said raising a rectangle case and opened it revealing a dark emerald electric guitar, it had both the '10' symbol from Ben's jacket and the circular Omnitrix symbol.

"This is fine craftsmanship." Pantherlily said to him.

"Thanks, cool cat." the old man said to him.

"We are officially in the clear, I'd love to see anyone top this gift." Gajeel said as his gift was spectacular.

…

"Just so you know this is from both of us." Rex said as he was using the saw mode on his sword to cut down a tree and making it cube-shaped.

Erza ignored him and began running around the cube with her Flight armor making small precise cuts and nicks.

Rex watched impressed as he had artistic talent and Erza certainly was no slouch, he saw each cut had a purpose and saw the block taking form as Erza carved into it.

Erza smiled seeing the end result as it was a model of Ben and all his housemates, Ben was next to her and Wendy between them, Gajeel was behind her with Pantherlily on his shoulder, and Rex was behind Ben doing his own pose "Thank you for the assistance Rex." she said walking away.

'Guess I should've expected that.' Rex thought as he cut another cube and began making a small model of him in the Upgrade suit with Upgrade coming out of his shoulder, he then began making a small pedestal for it and wrote something as a plaque 'Heroes United', he wrote wanting it to be sentimental.

Wendy walked into the guild and greeted Mira as she was going out.

'Maybe I should drop a hint.' Mira thought as the girl didn't know tomorrow was Ben's birthday and he just became his father "Hey Wendy, tomorrow is Ben's birthday." she said thinking the hint would need to be heavy.

"What!?" Wendy said in surprise not knowing about that "I need to get him something!" she said running around panicking.

"You can make him something." Mira offered as she decided to throw Wendy a bone as she had a lot of emotions run through her already.

Wendy felt a lightbulb go off in her head "Mira do you know how to sew?" she asked getting a nod "Could you help me make Ben's gift?" she asked her curiously.

"Help me do some shopping and you have a deal." Mira said as she could use a hand and saw Wendy eagerly accept.

The shopping was quick and Wendy was very helpful in helping her find the things she needed, they went back to the Strauss home and Mira began teaching Wendy to sew, it was lucky the girl knew healing magic as she kept stabbing her fingers and Mira kepts helping her guide her fingers and learn to tie proper knots.

Ben woke up to an empty bed seeing Erza was nowhere to be found 'Must be downstairs trying to cook again.' he thought as Erza had been trying to cook breakfast 'Should really buy a cookbook and have her cook with me.' he thought thinking that'd help her learn because no one could eat her cooking as it was either burned or raw or tasted like something it shouldn't, he usually turned into Upchuck and acted as a garbage can as his housemates dropped food into his mouth and he changed back.

Ben got dressed and was a little curious as to why the house was silent given whom he lived with, he went downstairs and saw the kitchen was empty 'Did they leave for the guild?' he thought thinking it was way too early, he was about to go outside, but the moment he walked past the living room.

"Surprise!" a group of residents and few close friends.

Ben activated the Omnitrix but stopped himself from slamming the dial as he saw who surprised him "Wow you guys got me good." he said as he deactivated the dial and relaxed "So what's up, is it some sort of holiday?" he asked them.

That got Ben many weird looks.

"Ben, today is your birthday." Erza said as she wondered why he didn't tell her his birthday was coming up, but he seemed very confused today was the day of his birth.

Ben was even more surprised that today was his day of birth 'So today is my birthday?' he thought to himself unable to believe it was his 19th birthday.

Everyone decided to give their gifts deciding after yesterday Wendy should be the first one to go.

Ben saw a moderately sized gift box, he removed the lid and saw a cartoonish-style plush version of Laserscale 'She made this.' he thought smiling as he saw the stitch marks "I love it Wendy." he said pulling her into a hug.

Erza being his girlfriend went next, her box was smaller and when Ben opened it he was impressed "This looks amazing Erza." he said placing it in the living room where anyone could see it.

Erza beamed with pride at her gift on display.

"Alright Ben watch the magic as you open this." Gajeel said as he handed him his and Pantherlily's gift.

Ben had a strong guess what it was, but he was still marveled by the design "Ok, this is cool." he said as Gajeel smiled cockily.

"I guess, I'm next." Rex said giving Ben his statue of them.

"We look so awesome." Ben said as they laughed.

Mira gave him clothes, Elfman got him a gift card, Natsu and Happy went with cash, Gray went a few small figurines of his aliens, and Lucy got him what looked like golden celestial spirit keys with his aliens at the end.

They all had some fun at his house stopping around the time Natsu and Gajeel were going to get into a fistfight and proceeded to head to the guild where the party went into high gear where everyone went crazy and celebrated Ben for all his deeds since becoming a member.

"Hey Wendy when's your birthday?" Ben asked her curious to when her birthday was.

Wendy took a moment "I don't think I ever celebrated my birthday." she said as the guild went silent.

"That won't do, you know what how about today." Ben offered "Or yesterday or tomorrow?" he asked as he adopted her yesterday and tomorrow was a new day.

"Today sounds great!" Wendy said in excitement.

"Ok time to get you a gift." Ben said slamming the dial of the Omnitrix "Grey Matter!" he said as he went to the bar grabbing a paper and pen and looked at Wendy writing some things down and reached to his back and tapped the dial "Brainstorm!" he said loudly "My dearest Mirajane, do you think you may spare some leather?" he asked her as she gave him a key to the store room "You have my gratitude now if you will." he said walking to the back of the guild.

The guild was confused hearing lightning and loud pincer clicking in the room.

"Eureka!" Brainstorm was heard as a bright green flash was seen from under the floorboards and Ben soon came out "Catch." he said giving Wendy his gift to her.

Wendy caught the gift and saw it was a replica of Ben's jacket with minor differences, the main color of the jacket was blue like her hair, the lines which were white on Ben's jacket was purple on hers, the symbol where Ben's '10' was had her Sky Dragon magic circle, the design was so intricate and an exact copy, and her guild symbol was purple as well.

"Think you can make these in bulk?" Makarov asked Ben as his jacket would sell very popularly.

"Not a chance." Ben said shooting him down quickly.

The guild all cheered having another reason to party began celebrating late into the night.

Ben came home early Wendy falling asleep mid party, he tucked her in smiling seeing her wear the jacket he made her, he went to the kitchen and took out a cupcake and placed a candle in it, he had a cake and made his wish earlier, but this was not for him "Happy Birthday Gwen." he said as he didn't mind sharing his birthday which was why he suggested it to Wendy as it was nice to celebrate his day with someone he was close to.

"I have a great grandbaby!" Verdona said fawning that Ben had taken Wendy as his daughter.

Paradox could not hide his excitement either, seeing things taking such as an interesting turn was always exciting.

'Oh this isn't gonna end well.' Kevin thought as Gwen was infuriated, her eyes just pouring out mana as Azmuth had arrived and told them one of Ben's forms was recently damaged and explained that the form had to suffer extreme damage for this to occur.

Azmuth had seen Diagon when George slew him the first time, so there were few things that had the ability to scare him and Gwen Tennyson was slowly reaching that threshold.

"You really have some timing Azmuth." Max said not looking the least bit pleased.

"I come countless lightyears to help you find Ben and I have bad timing?" Azmuth asked him not seeing the issue.

"Azmuth today is Ben and Gwen's birthday." Max said to him as he never missed any of his grandchildren's days of birth or day where Ben and Gwen were concerned 'I hope you're ok Ben.' he thought as hearing Azmuth's news about an Omnitrix form being damage made him feel even more worry to what state they'd find Ben in.

Azmuth felt guilt for adding salt to their wounds for what he had said 'Ben you better be alright, for their sakes.' he thought seeing Gwen sob

Makarov awoke at the bar seeing many passed out members of his guild, he was about to go to his office after grabbing an aspirin and some water when a messenger came in for a special request 'This is odd?' he thought curiously as the messenger gave him a letter and he read it and was surprised by what he read 'This is a top priority mission!' he thought as there was no other way to describe it.
