Alexus's Point of View
After more ice cream, Axel took me back to my room. I sat on my bed. I didn't think that I could sleep. I looked through the window to see the sky and wondered where all of the stars were. I couldn't see any. There were always so many at my home, and this place was definitely not home to me. I didn't know how far away my home was, but it seemed like billions of miles away.
After a while, I attempted to get some sleep, but every time I closed my eyes, all I could see was Mama's dead body lying in that coffin. I tried to get the image out of my head, but it stayed with me. After what must have been hours of tossing and turning, the need for sleep became too great, and I dozed off.
"Good morning," Mr. Xemnas greeted. The lights came on. I pulled up the covers, trying to go back to sleep. I felt Mr. Xemnas' hand on my shoulder. "It's time to wake up." I rolled over and didn't respond. Mr. Xemnas pulled off the covers, and I finally opened my eyes. Mr. Xemnas was hovering over me. It was an awful sight to see first thing in the morning. I glanced out the window.
"It's still dark out!" I growled.
"It's always dark here," He replied calmly. Since he wasn't leaving me alone, I got up spitefully. "Would you like some breakfast? We have pancakes." I was hungry enough that I couldn't bring myself to decline.
"Yes, please," I replied.
"Come with me," Mr. Xemnas instructed. I followed him down the halls, and he took me to the dining room. No one else was there this time. I sat in the same seat as I did the previous night. "Everyone else has left for the day. I thought it would be best to allow you to sleep in." I wished that I could have slept better. A Dusk brought me a plate with three big pancakes and set maple syrup down on the table beside it. I was slightly more prepared, but its sharp hands were still terrifying. I poured maple syrup over my pancakes and began to eat. They weren't as good as Mama's pancakes, but they were decent. After I had finished eating, I was unsure of what to do. "This castle is your home now. You are free to roam about as you please. Never leave the castle without supervision. It is very dangerous outside, and you could get hurt. I'll send one of my employees or a Dusk to fetch you when I need you. You are excused."
Though he phrased it as a suggestion, I understood it was more of an order. I was terrified of those awful Dusk creatures that lurked about, but I left the room anyway. I didn't want to spend another second with him, even if it meant I had to take my chances with the Dusks. I remembered Mr. Xemnas had said they wouldn't hurt me when we were at dinner the night before.
I stepped out into the hall and looked around. There weren't any Dusks that I could see. Just an empty hall. I made my way down the hall to explore. It led into a room where the hall was more like a platform. There were railways at the edges. I walked to the rail, looked down, and discovered that I was very high up. I could hardly see the floor. I backed away from the edge and carefully went up the steps to see where the path would lead. When I got to the end, I entered a room with windows for walls. Inside the room were chairs, sofas, small tables, and some white statues of flowers in vases on pedestals. I noticed I had yet to see almost any colors that weren't neutral in the castle. It seemed strange to me.
While the sofas didn't look very comfortable, I was exhausted because I hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before. I couldn't remember where my room was, so I curled up on a sofa and drifted off to sleep.
Thank you, Mars1027, for favoriting.
JustAFemaleGeek: I can confirm that I will eventually have the other organization members in this eventually. This starts before they join the organization.
