Well, last chapter wasn't that well good. I forgot that Fred knew about Joy's (formerly known as the Weapon) existence. Guess I have forgotten about my knowledge of Halo's lore, huh? I say, this story is getting more interesting now.
Not expecting some high expectations but like what I had said before, I cannot wait to write the oncoming chapters. ESPECIALLY when it comes to a certain warrior culture that might be…. Let's say fun thing to write about.
Oh, and I'll just repeat this message again. The Survivors of the UNSC Infinity will not be in this story except for ONE. But don't expect it to be any time soon as I and my co-writer will make some plans.
And can we please raise the reviews please? Cause I can see a very less numbers between the reviews, the follows, and the favourites.
Now then that's over, sit back and enjoy reading this chapter.
Halo Galactic Wars Chapter Seven: The Reason We Fight
"What am I looking at here, Fred?"
Master Chief and his old teammate and close friend, Fred, were hiding within the tall grass near a droid base. Having been stranded from within this planet, which was revealed to be called Maridun, the two were tasked into scouting a nearby droid base and what is their interest here.
They were not along though. General Aayla Secura and Clone Commander Bly were with them. All took a little peak before all went back to their hiding spot.
"A Sep base as those two calls it, and they had some very interesting weapons and vehicles in there." Fred answered quietly to his Spartan Kin as he points to the droids guarding the gate.
"It seems like I am not the only one who's interested in these sorts of devices." Joy uttered in both Spartans' helmet comms.
"What are they doing here?" He asked Fred as he was here a bit longer before their uneventful arrival.
Fred just looked through his DMR scope and answered his friend's question, "I don't know. As far as I am aware of, I think it's a site where they perhaps are conducting some experiments for the military. It's bad enough that I had to reserve my ammunition due to those creatures I had to fend off thanks to those villagers being too stubborn about their pacifism. Not to mention about those spy robots that they have."
"You mean those Sep probe droids?" Bly asked as Fred stopped to look at him.
"Yeah, whatever that is."
Master Chief meanwhile had a feeling that his AI Companion was about to do something. Pulling out his left hand, Joy's Avatar soon appeared on top of his palm. "You're planning to do something?"
"Just gathering some data from their base." She responded to his question which made him shook his head a little. This in turn made her raise an eyebrow. "What?
"You are going to unintentionally draw their attention to us. Better not do that again." He answered and in response she had the childlike expression of slight irritation as she only made a copy of the important bits of information needed.
"You're always like that?" Fred asked looking at Joy as she turned towards him.
"Not all the time." She admitted as she looked at him.
"Are you sure?" He asked again, which made the AI had that childlike expression of annoyance.
Master Chief just stayed silent. He knew that despite being the copy of one of the most intelligible AI of the UNSC, he knew that she wasn't mature. Well, emotionally mature to say the least. As this was happening, the Spartan saw both Aayla and Bly just observing the Avatar on his left palm. "You two need something?" He stoically asked.
"Well, this is something we've seen the first time." Aalya answered honestly as she looked at Joy with a curious look shown on her face. "You seem to know her very well."
"Yeah, that's about right…" Master Chief just trailed off and slightly look over to the left. That question was quite sensitive to him, and he wasn't over with it. This didn't go unnoticed by the Jedi and Clone. But for Joy, she knew too well why he was like that.
Fred saw his body language and asked in concern. "You okay, Chief?"
As Chief was about to respond, they heard a droid ship coming by. This caused him to make Joy disappear on his left palm and quietly informed them. "We need to go back to the village. Now!" Everyone just looked at him and wondered why he acted like that but knew that he was going to tell them either soon or in one day.
They didn't make any progress on their mission to get out of this planet. But if they are concerned, they would need to find a space shuttle, which is only available in that base. But they would need careful planning if there was a scenario of those droids that would attack the natives.
-Scene Change-
Back the village, Ashoka was with her Master as he's recovered a bit better ever since the Shaman help give him some herbs to recover better. Seeing that Anakin was well rested, she decided to head out and helping around the settlers within the village as she didn't want the clones to be the only ones helping.
Little had passed when Anakin had managed to gain some consciousness and opened his eyes to see Aayla, Chief and the Spartan by the name of Fred looking over to him. Sitting up, he asked a question as he was tending to his own injuries. "So, what did I miss while I was out?"
"The Separatist has a base a few miles from here." Aalya answered as she let Chief explain.
"We didn't know what they had in there. But…" Master Chief pulled his left arm out to reveal's Joy's Avatar. "Joy can tell all of you the details." As he said that, the small hut then shows a small hologram of the Separatists Base and it contain every detail that they need.
"The base itself is heavily guard. But I'm surprise there's no actual commander in the base." Joy finished as hologram of the base went out.
The recently recovered Jedi just let out a sigh when hearing this. This is when he bluntly blurted this out, "Well, that was useful. I think we need to go there sooner or later. Don't want all of us to be stuck here."
As this was happening, Fred couldn't believe that he was helping a foreign military. He was aware that both he and Chief were part of the UNSC and were fiercely loyal to them, no matter how questionable they are. It was at this time that both Spartans noticed a yellow dot behind them, and they turned around to see the Lurmen Chieftain with his hands behind his back. "You need something?"
The elder Lurmen just eyed at the Twi'Lek Jedi and the Green Armoured Individual. "I would like to speak to the Jedi and that green armoured fellow in my personal tent, if you don't mind."
"Of course." Fred said hesitantly as he went out of the tent along with Bly who was assisting an injured Anakin. As soon as they left, the chieftain looked at the Twi'lek Jedi and Chief.
Master Chief and Aayla just silently look at the Chieftain while the elder Lurmen did the same. Their minds were telling them that he wanted to talk about something. Something that was really about their roles in general. "I assume this is a talk about a subject that's been bothering you for a while?" The Master Chief guessed the obvious question as he sat down while the Twi'lek did the same after receiving a cup from the elder.
"Yes... Your role is a Jedi I know about. But you..." The elder Lurmen answered as he turned to Chief and point at him, "your role I'm uncertain of. Are you the same as the Jedi?"
"No. I'm…." The Master Chief felt a bit hesitant of revealing his role. But since that this individual is curious to know who he is, he would just say what was needed to know and had a little feeling that saying his role wouldn't hurt. "I am a Spartan. The Sword and Shield to humanity."
"What is this Spartan?" The chieftain inquired.
"…That is classified information, Sir. But all you need to know are that Spartans are soldiers." The Spartan replied knowing full to well of the consequences of revealing such information.
"Ah, I see." The Elder Lurmen said, now eye between the Spartan and Jedi present. "You Spartans are no different to that of the Jedis. Always brining in violence and chaos wherever you go."
"With all due respect, that's not what we do." Chief countered back through his stoic tone.
This, in turn, caught the Lurmen Chieftain's attention, and he looked back at the green armoured individual. "Now what are you talking about?"
"We are Spartans. The Swords and Shields of humanity." The Master Chief repeated before continuing, "That means that we protect the value of humanity at any cost. Even if it means we have to use violence to keep the peace."
"I see no difference then. People claim they use violence to keep the peace, but yet that leads to more violence." The Lurmen countered. "My people have settled here to avoid what's happening all over the galaxy. However, over the past few weeks those blasted droids have been coming to our village ever since. No one was harmed, yet with your arrival, I can only assume it'll be a matter of time until conflict breaks out between those two opposing forces."
"That's why if we don't stop them, then your people will be in danger." Aalya explained as she hoped she could find a way to convince the chieftain the help them or at least understand.
"We'll be in danger?" The Lurmen Chieftain said with disgust, eying sharply at the Blue skinned Twi'lek. "You should be aware that the Jedis are no peacekeepers as they claim themselves to be. They engage themselves in battle and leading legions to their deaths. It is their responsibility for all of this." His attention then turns towards the Spartan. "Perhaps these Spartans are the same?"
"You may have some truths to the words you spoken," The Master Chief as he looked directly at the Elder Lurmen with his golden visor, "but you need to put into consideration that these things happen everywhere. No matter what your animosity towards violence is and wherever you are, violence is bound to happen. Back from where I am from, there are some individuals that cannot be reasoned with."
"And why would you say that?" The Elder Lumen countered the Spartan's words. "Negotiations are always the solution without the resort into using violence."
"You can't negotiate with criminals, or whoever else cause they'll always choice violence. It's what they do." The Chief explained due having past experience with the Insurrectionists.
"Is this why you always have to resort to violence?" The Chieftain spoke back, eyes glazing intensely at the Spartan. "I see no difference of your actions to that of the other armoured fellow."
It was at this time that Aayla decides to speak up after taken a sip from her tea filled cup. Finding the Spartan's words had somehow persuade her to even talk. "What about the civilians?" She looked at Chief before looking at the Chieftain. "What are they involved in?"
"Civilians are always caught in the crossfire," The Master Chief responded back to Aayla question as he looked back at the Chieftain. "With all due respect Sir, would you consider the safety of your people if a battle were to occur here or would lead them to their deaths due to your extreme beliefs on pacifism?"
"The safety of my people…" Tee Watt Kaa pauseed as he thought of the words to say. He wasn't sure how to respond that sort of question. Actually, he hasn't even thought about it at all ever since settling here.
Just as the discussion was about to continue, Master Chief was then alerted by his old teammate Fred who spoke through his helmet comm. "Chief. I better go outside if I were you or that blue-skinned alien girl."
This caught the Twi'lek attention as she asked through her wrist comm. "What's the matter?"
"Remember those Seps that we scouted on from earlier?" He recalled. "Well, one of their ships had arrived. We need to get out of here if we do not want to those stubborn monkey-people to be caught in the crossfire."
Both Spartan and Twi'lek were put on high alert. A Separatist Ship is coming, and they need to get out of here and go into hiding if they would want to avoid confrontation. Getting back up, both proceeded to regroup with the others and go somewhere safe. For now, at least.
They knew that no matter what they had said, the Lurmen settlers would refuse to help them.
-Scene Change-
Within a clear area within the tall grass that was situated not far from the village to avoid detection from the Separatists Forces. All were either sitting down or stood up as they were discussing of the matters of the situation that they were in. Ahsoka was chewing down on a ration bar very slowly as she and the others' attention were caught on something unusual.
What is it that their attention was on exactly?
Well, on their left side, all, with except for the Chief, saw Spartan Fred just twirling both of his knives through his fingers and found it to be quite unsettling. This did not go unnoticed by the Spartan however and he looked at them. "Something wrong?"
"Well, it's just..." Echo answered but was a bit hesitant. They know about Chief, but Fred... He's just another story for them.
"It's just that some or all of us except Big Green here doesn't know about you or your knives." Fives answers honestly as Fred finishes twirling his knives. He got a quick glare from the Chief for saying that nickname.
Fred just let out a sigh as he put his knives back onto his shoulders. "Well, you should all know that I follow Chief's Command despite our rank differences. He may have not told you, but we've known each other since childhood."
"Rank differences?" The Clones uttered out. They were started to get curious of what rank Master Chief and Fred were.
Some of them could hear Chief let out a sigh as Fred start explain. "Well, I outrank Chief, but he was basically the leader of our team when we were young. And ever since then he's been in command."
"What's your rank?" Commander Bly asked as he looked at Fred and then to the Chief.
"A Lieutenant Junior. " Fred answered simply.
A Lieutenant?" Ahsoka spoke after taking a bite from the ration bar before she turned her attention towards the Master Chief. "And what about you, Big Green?"
Chief just irked at that nickname but decided to giver no reaction. He then simply answered. "Master Chief, Petty Officer."
"Wait… So basically, you are outranked by Commander Bly, Master Skywalker and Secura, Rex, Fred, and me. But yet, Fred still follows you?" Ahsoka asked, confused at hearing this while the rest of the group were in the same boat as her.
The Clones and the three present Jedis just looked at the two Spartans. If Fred outranks Chief but still falls under his command, then that means— "Well, we can talk about their ranks in another time." Rex told them group as he reminded everyone apart from the two to focus on their situation. "What are we going to do with those Seps? Those villagers are too stubborn to even fight. I guess they have no pride?"
"Anyone who's seen the horrors of war would be hesitant to fight." Aayla explained Rex's question to the others.
"Well, the way I see it, I would say that they have no courage." Ahsoka came to her own conclusion before taking a bite from her half-eaten ration bar.
"That might be an understatement, Commander." Master Chief said, countering the reason on the Lurmen's pacifist mindset. "They have their own reasons to avoid fighting for a good reason. But you need to consider that they are stubborn individuals that stick their beliefs. Whether they're pacifists or not. There are others like them, and you need to put that into reconsideration from now on."
"Hm. I think I'll take that into consideration." The Padawan said to the Spartan as she finds his words to have wisdom in some capacities.
"Whatever is about to happen on this, we need to find a ship." Anakin spoke to the group, "And I think the only one around here belongs to the Separatists." Unknown to him, they were all being watch by a Separatists Probe Droid and was only noticed by Chief and Fred.
That's when Fred made his move and threw a knife at the probe droid as he then rushed at it and took it out. This caught everyone's attention as they turned towards him and in front of him laid a recently destroyed droid. "Nice kill." Flash said to the knife wielding Spartan with admiration.
"That was quite better than those droids that I'd destroyed previous." Fred simply stated as he put his knife back. "Those things are really fast. If only Kelly was here, She'd take them out with no problem." His attention then turned towards Anakin. "You're suggesting that we'd steal one of their ships and then use it against those Seps?"
"Well, we did use enemy vehicles before." Joy answered as she wanted to appear.
Anakin blinked at hearing the conclusion of Fred's words. He didn't know that he was quite blunt and straightforward at knowing what he was planning. But then again, considering both of Fred and Chief's history, they might have experienced this before. "Uh, yeah that's about right. That way could find a way to contact any Republic Forces to pick up our distress signal."
"If you think that this is the only way, then count me in." Rex spoke to his Commanding Officer and held his blaster carbine.
Just as they were about to head to the base, Joy suddenly appeared on Chief's left palm. As much as he was annoyed at her sudden appearance, he can tell that she wanted to say something important. "Got something you want to tell us?"
"Yeah," She nodded in confirmation as he looked at the Jedis. "I picked up a frequency of the Separatists battle net here. It seems like that they are about to test something out."
"We better find out what it is," Anakin said as he was about to get up.
Unfortunately for him, Chief then interrupted the Jedi by saying, "Sir, you're in no good to move."
"Trust me Chief, I can handle myself." The male Jedi General said to the Spartan before he looked at Fred. "Since you've been here the longest, where can we look to what the Separatists are up to?"
"I think I now a spot or two to where we can look." Fred answered the Jedi's question before heading towards the designated spot and not long after the others start to follow him.
-Scene Change-
"So, you been watching the seps from here?" Joy asked as Chief had her out as she was looking at the separatist's base. She, along with the others were on top of the tree that was not far from the base as all of them were taking a look from their binoculars.
"More like observing them." Fred admitted as he looked through the scope of his DMR.
All turned back to see multiple B1 Battle Droids within the base. Just then, Anakin spots a shuttle that had been docked within its hanger bay. "Look there? That shuttle is our only way out.
"I wouldn't be saying that if I were you." Fred said as he looked at a Specific individual. "See that reptilian humanoid there?"
"You mean Neimoidian?" Secura said to the Spartan.
Fred looked at her before looking back at his scope. "Yeah, whatever that is. Anyway, I think he's the one leading the Separatists Forces here and I have a feeling that he's up to something bad."
Upon saying this, all three saw three vehicles exiting a ship's bay. For the three out worlders, they can tell that it is almost like the Wraiths that they had encountered before ending up here. Joy was the one to comment about this. "Is this me, or do they look like Wraith knock-offs?"
"Those are AAT's." Rex answered for Joy as he used his helmet rangefinder to zoom in. "I'm not sure about that one tank though."
"Seems like a new Weapon that is about to be tested." Chief simply clarified before turning attention towards Joy. "Can you hack into that tank in case they would ever use it against those villagers?"
"Already done it." She informed the Spartan and was ready to disable it when the Spartan told her not to since it would give their presence away to the enemy.
Meanwhile, on the Separatists Base, the fat Neimodian General, Lok Durd, was watching in pride as his own design was about to be tested after giving an arousing speech to the Droids and asked for two to be volunteered for this testing. Turning around, one B1 Battle Droid was holding a small hologram that projected an elder man. "Count Dooku," He greeted the Count, "I have located a world in which we can test my..." Hearing this made the elder man irked at hearing his words, "Excuse me, our new weapon."
"Very well then, Lok Durd. You can Proceed." Dooku said the last word partly came with Venom before looking towards the test site.
As the Clones wanted to come closer, all were stopped by the Master Chief and Fred. "Stay where we are. We don't know what that thing is capable of." Chief reminded them.
"Chief's right." The light blue armoured Spartan said, agreeing with his close friend. "We're not going to risk any casualties. So, I would suggest everyone in staying right here."
Everyone while a bit hesitant agreed as they stayed put when all the sudden, they heard a noise coming from the base.
"Joy?" Chief asked wondering that they may have been spotted as he got himself ready to move.
"No, they didn't spot us. The Commander ordered for something called the Deflator to be fired." Joy answered as the projectile flew into the air as it landed on the ground and what came next almost became something of a flashback for Fred and Chief as the projectile landed it made a blast like radius.
Ahsoka and the Clone Rookies remained speechless at seeing this. Just a single weapon like that would be deadly towards any living being within its radius. "That's some toy they'd got." She then looked at Aayla. "It took out every living thing."
"I'm starting to think about a scenario of the Banished acquiring that kind of weapon would be deadly against the UNSC Forces." The AI commented. Everyone turned to her and wondered what she mentioned about the Banished.
"Um sorry to ask about this Sir," Fives then spoke, "But what exactly are these Banished?"
"...That is a question for another time." Chief commented as he wanted everyone to focus on the current situation. Everyone couldn't help but deny this, but whatever these Banished are exactly, it doesn't seem to be good.
"Chief..." Fred was about to say when they all heard the same noise coming towards them. "Oh great, now they're heading towards the village. Probably going to test it out of them."
"Wait," Ahsoka spoke as she looked at the blue armored Spartan, "Are you sure that they're going to the Lurmen Village?"
"Isn't it obvious of the direction of where they're going?" Fred obvious stated with a very flat manner as they saw multiple droids and tanks coming towards their direction. "C'mon, we better get down from this tree and take whatever we need. Then we strike these enemies. Better help those stubborn villagers if they do not want to fight than to leave them to their fate."
As they were all about to leave, Master Chief quickly turns towards his left as he had a feeling that they were being watched. Joy saw this and then spoke to catch his attention. "Chief?"
He turned back towards her direction. "We might have been watched." She was confused on his statement but didn't argue as she immediately retreated back into the Spartan's armour.
As he had climbed down with the others, a Lurmen from another tree let out a sigh after narrowing avoiding being spotted by the Spartan. He had his left arm out and a bird came landing down. "Tell Wag Too the Separatists are returning."
-Scene Change-
Night had hit the Droid's base within Maridun. Three B1 Battle droids were guarding the front and all of a sudden, a rock suddenly rolled towards the tall grass. "Hey, what was that?" One of the droids asked, pointing at the object.
Before the others could respond suddenly like if was quick two knives came out of nowhere and took two of the droids out while the first droid was hit with a strong punch that took its head off. After the droids were taken care off Chief and Fred began to find a way into the base and Fred manage to grab a new weapon by picking up one of the Droid's Blasters. They eventually find a way in and the two used their grapples to go up towards the wall.
"Now I can see why Rex and the boys highly talk about you, Big Green." Ahsoka commented through their comms as she and the others saw their quick action.
"Just wait until you see these two into battle," Joy informed the group as they saw the two Spartans quickly taking out the Droids and then the spotlights were cut out.
"That's our queue. C'mon, get over there quickly!" Anakin said to the two Jedis and the Clones as they went out of their hiding spot and then hastily rushed towards the walls of the base.
As they got up and looked to the other side, they pause for a moment in complete silence as they saw the group of battle droids that were scrapped. All turned their attention towards Chief and Fred, the latter was cleaning his knife before putting them back onto his shoulders.
"Woah..." Flash, Cameron and Lucky uttered behind their helmets, awing at what they witness. It was no wonder that the 501st had spoken highly of the Master Chief. But to see him in action, this only motivated them to fight the Separatists even more.
"No wonder Captain Rex spoke high of you, Chief." Aayla said as she came down first then waited to help Anakin by force levitating him down to the ground.
"Grab whatever you can find, and we'll meet back at that ship." The Master Chief informed the others. Everyone then nodded and soon they began their search anything useful for defending the Lurmen Village from the Separatist's new weapon.
It took a few minutes for everyone to find some useful items that that can use against the Separatists. Shield generators to cover the village from that new weapon, weapons, thermal grenades, anything really. It was during this time that Master Chief had gotten a hold of a communicator so that General Skywalker and Secura could try to contact any Republic ships passing by pick them up from this backwater planet.
After literally looting the base, everyone regrouped back at the docked shuttle. They were in a circle, and they put everything onto the ship.
"I'm surprised the Seps just use one weapon for everyone if these droids…" Fred commented as he helps the others put the things in the ship.
"Don't be fooled by its appearance." Rex informed the Spartan. "They use the same weapon but can be deadly at the same time."
"That is if they are in large groups, of course." The blue armoured Spartan countered back at the Clone Captain. "I'm starting to think that they are just expendables for the Separatists."
"You don't know the half of it." Anakin said, agreeing with the Spartan's statement. Just then, he saw the Master Chief just walking up to the ramp of the ship. "Wait Chief. You're gonna fly that thing?"
"Yes." The green armoured Spartan simply answered.
"And are you sure you can pilot that?" Ahsoka asked, pointing at the Shuttle that he was climbing on.
"..." The Spartan just stared at the Togruta as he heard that.
"Well, Chief did pilot a few enemy crafts before." Fred answered for Ashoka as he made his way to the seat as chief sat down. "Trust me, we'll make it." With that, the shuttle then hovered back towards the Lurmen Settlement, leaving the now emptied Droid Base behind.
-Scene Change-
Morning had it the settlement and the ship then landed down onto the ground. As everyone got out, they immediately started to set up defences for the oncoming droid attack. "We don't have long. Set up the defenses right away." Anakin instructed the Clones while the Spartans were already doing their tasks.
when everything was set Chief went up to the jedi as he asked, "What's the plan of defense?"
"See those shield generator right there?" Anakin asked the Spartan as he pointed at the large object that the Clones were fiddling with. "We're going to set it up in case the Separatists use that weapon of theirs. We're to hold the line and—"
"What are you doing?!" The Jedi and Spartan turned around to see the Lurmen Elder walking towards them.
"We're helping you." Chief simply stated through his stoic tone.
"Helping us?" The Chieftain repeated the Spartan's statement. "We didn't request for any assistance!"
"The Seps are gonna attack your village, regardless of what you said to them." Chief explained.
The Chieftain was about to say a word to this green armoured individual when Fred ran towards the Master Chief. "Chief. Those Seps are eight minutes away. We better help the others."
Chief then looked back at the Elder Lurmen. "Still thinking about your beliefs?"
This made the Chief Lurmen go back to his hut to take some cover. As this is happening, Wag Too came up to the Spartan and was grateful of what he and the others were doing. "Thank you for what you're trying to do. I'm sorry, but I cannot help. My father is very... Strong willed and set in tradition. Many others agree with me, but we were raised under a very strict code. We must respect it, even if we don't agree."
"I understand your concern. You need to take care of your people then" The Spartan spoke to the Chieftain's son before he pulled out the Blaster Carbine and nodded at Fred before they regroup with the others.
Not far from the village, three AAT Tanks along with multiple B1 Battle Droids and B2 Super Droids were marching towards their destination. In one of those tanks, General Lok Durd was in the Commander's seat as the hatch was open and ordered his droids into readying his new weapon onto the village.
"When Count Dooku sees how successful my weapon is against civilian targets, I will no doubt be promoted to a more… Substantial position within the Alliance." Lok sure boasted.
"Well, the villagers appear to have put some pods together in a barrier around the village." A B1 Battle droid informed his General as he looked through a binocular.
Lok took out his binoculars and he looked to see what that Droid was talking about. "Pods? How quaint." It was during this time that he spotted something off from the distance. "Jedi? What are they doing out here? And…" He spotted something else. There, he can see two different coloured individuals that were helping them. He doesn't know who they are, but they seemed to enemies as they were helping the Jedis and Clones. "Who are they?"
"Um, I'm not sure sir. Orders?" The B1 droid asked.
Putting his binocular down, the Neimodian General gave him an obvious look. "Take out those Jedis and get those two individuals. Lord Dooku may be interested in their armour."
"It seems like we've been noticed," Master Chief told the group outside of the village as he readied his DC-15S Blaster Carbine.
Fred asked as he put out his DMR "So do we want to kill or capture that guy?"
"Capture is much more preferable." Aayla answered the Spartan's question as she pulled out her lightsaber and ignite it. "You better use your knives, Spartan. You do not want to waste any more ammunition."
"General Secura is right," Commander Bly said, agreeing with his Jedi General. "That Slug-Thrower weapon of yours won't be very effect against large swarms of Clankers."
Fred looked at Bly before switching to his knives as he twirls them in his fingers. "There. That's more like it."
"Prepare to fire," General Lok told his Droid Troops and soon a new munition was loaded into the new weapon. The artillery weapon was then aimed at the village. This only made the Neimodian General smile at this. "Goodbye Jedis. FIRE!"
As he said that, nothing…happened? This confused the General as he was wondering what had just happened as he looked back at the Deflator. "What? Didn't I say fire?"
"Um," The Gunner of the Deflator uttered as he fiddled with the controls. "I don't know, Sir. It just said error."
"Error? What error?!" He demanded to know.
While this was happening, The Jedis and Clones were utterly confused of what had happened. They were expecting the weapon to fire at their location, but they didn't expect some sort of malfunctioning. But to Ahsoka, she had an odd feeling that a certain AI was the one behind this. "Joy?"
Joy inside Chief's armour made a little giggle as she then replied back at Ahsoka, "Yes?"
"What did you do?" That was the next question that the Togruta Padawan asked.
"Just disabled that Deflator of theirs." She revealed to her and the others. "That weapon of theirs isn't that hard to hack. So, you wouldn't have to worry about it."
"Thanks for doing that, Joy." Rex praised Chief's AI companion. "If that weapon of theirs have been fired, then we would have activated the shield Generators."
"Now all they need to go through us if they want to hurt those villagers." Fred pointed out as he took a stance with his two combat knives.
"Agreed." Chief says as he's got his sights on the tank. Just then, he and the others can see a wave of B1 Battle Droids coming straight for them.
"That's a lot of Clankers." Ahsoka commented as she and the rest saw a swarm of droids coming towards their position.
Anakin looked at them before facing Domino Squad. "Hevy, you and the others stay here and guard the shield Generators."
"Copy that." Domino said to their Generals and went to where the generators were located.
Seeing that they only four were heading towards then Aayla turned towards her three Clone Rookies. "Flash, Lucky and Cameron. You three go with them to ensure that the Generators won't be destroyed."
"Yes Ma'am." Lucky said as his brothers and himself went with Domino Squad.
Seeing them going to the Shield Generators, Chief looked at Fred. "Fred. Fend off against those Droids with Captain Rex and the others. I'll go with the Clones to defend the Shield Generators."
"Copy that, Chief." The knife wielding Spartan nodded before he saw Chief going with the other Clones.
"Try to keep up." Ahsoka said as she took position and ignited her lightsaber. Fred just responded by twirling his knives again as they began to charge.
As the Droid Wave came, The Jedis and Spartan began to slash their way through and cutting any that passed by them. All the while Captain Rex and Commander Bly stood their ground and shot any Droids that passed by the four. This was all watch by the Chieftain's son and another Lurmen.
Back inside, Master Chief pointed his gun as he was anticipating them to pass by them. Through he was alright by himself, he wasn't so sure about the others. Using his helmet comm, he then contacted them. "Any Droid passed your location?"
"Not yet Chief, we're keeping them busy." Fred answered through his helmet comm as he finished stabbing one droid before going for another. After decapitating another Droid, he saw a pair of B2 Battle Droids aiming their weapons out of him. Out of quick reflex, he threw his knives at the two before rushing to grab one. Picking up one, he immediately threw the B2 Super Droid towards the other. When that was over, he picked up his two knives before he held both in a reverse grip. "Not so tough, aren't ya?"
Seeing Squad One get decimated by the defenders, Durk looked over to his Droid Commander. "Send in Squad Two and Three. They'll deal with them and those two armoured individuals!"
"Roger, roger." The Droid Commander nodded before ordering said Squad to move in towards the village.
Seeing two Droid Squads coming by Anakin knew that this was his only chance of getting that Separatist General. "You stay and hold your position. I'll go get that guy." With that, he rushes off to where Lok was.
"Chief." Fred called out to him via helmet comm. "They brought a lot of backups. We could use your and the clones' help by now."
Chief didn't need telling twice as he began running towards his teammate while aiming with his grapple and began flying towards the first droid. He sees it and take it out all at with quick speed.
Seeing three dots coming behind him, he then switches to his wall drop module. "Stand behind me." With that, he activated his wall drop module and immediately begins to fire on the droids. While this was going on, he then talked over four clones that was coming up to him. "You four, go and help your Captain!"
"YES SIR!" The members of Domino Squad said before heading to where Rex is and proceed to fire at the droids. This prove to be at their favor as Hevy used his canon blaster to destroy a lot of droids heading towards them.
"Hey Hevy! Leave some for us!" Fives told his Clone Brother as he shot a droid's head off.
"Yeah, leave some for us." Echo Chimed in, taking two droids down.
"Can you please stop repeating what people always say, Echo?" Lucky reminded the Member of Domino Squad as he, along with Cameron, Lucky, and Chief regroup with the others.
It was at this time that Joy then uttered out from Chief's helmet comm. "Huh, how ironic. No wonder he is called Echo." Chief didn't say anything as he continue to provide covering fire for the Jedis and his close friend.
As this was happening, Wag Too and a few other Lurmens were watching the strangers fending off against Separatists. Seeing that the situation that these people are in and witness the two armoured individuals in action, they really want to help. As they took a single step, the voice of Tee Watt Kaa calling out to his son. "Wag Too, what are you doing?"
"We're going to help." His son simply stated as he looks back at his father.
"I forbid this!" Tee Watt Kaa yelled at Wag Too's defiance.
"What more would you have them do before we are allowed to defend ourselves?" His son argued back to him.
"But..." The Chieftain was about to say.
"We have to do this!" His son interrupted. Some with Lurmens looked at him before they headed off to assist the out-worlders in their fight with the Separatists.
Meanwhile back with Chief, both he and Anakin went to confront Lok Durd. The Spartan wanted to go with General Skywalker as he felt like he needed a bit of assistance due to his him having been recently recovered. The Former used his thrust module to evade enemy fire while the latter used the Force to his advantage. Despite using such power, Anakin was impressed that the Spartan can keep up with him.
"I say, you got some tools that can keep up with me." He commented as he deflected a blaster bolt with his lightsaber.
"…" The Spartan didn't say anything as he used his thrusters to evade a shot fired from an AAT.
In one of the Separatists tanks, one had managed to lock on to the Spartan. "Sir, I got the green one on my radar."
"Well Fire!" Lok Durd yelled at the Droid Tank Commander.
The Master Chief heard a shot being fired. He turned his attention towards an oncoming blaster bolt and was about to evade it by using his thruster module when he was hit by a sudden powerful force. This created a gust of smoke that covered the entire area of where he was at.
Anakin and the others momentarily stopped what they as they saw the Spartan being shot by one of the Separatist's tanks. Soon, all cried out in horror as seeing what had just happened. "CHIEF!"
Fred, however, was quite worried about his friend. But deep down his thoughts, he knew that his friend had survived worse than that.
Just then, they heard of the sound of something and saw the smoke clearing. Once it was fully clear, the Jedis and Clones had their eyes widened. The Master Chief was down to one of his knees as there was some sort of electrical apparitions appearing all his body. Then, a quick flash was seen as he stood up and had some dirt marks all over his amour.
The droid who fired open the door and looked out in shocked before giving a small "Uh oh..." It was about to retreat back into the tank when all of a sudden, Master Chief used his grapple and immediately slammed into the Droid, instantly destroying it.
Seeing Chief fully recover, Bly then commented underneath his helmet. "I gotta get one of them."
"Same." The clone Rookies said.
"Hm. Good luck coming up with that." Fred said with a little lace of sarcasm heard in his voice. He knew that they cannot copy the Mjolnir Power Armour and that he was glad about it.
As the Droids were about to fire after regaining their concentration, all then fell towards the floor as a rope was tied down on each of their leg. The Clones, Jedis and Spartan saw Wag Too and the others pulling down all the remaining droids down to the floor. "Ahsoka!" Aayla called out to her as she and the other Jedi then dragged their lightsaber into the ground to decapitate all the droids.
The Clones and Fred assisted them by shooting at the B2 Super Droids.
Lok Durd, in the meantime, was panicking as his droids were being wiped out while this green armor thing was walking directly towards him. He then climbed out of his tank and was about to run, when all of a sudden, he didn't even move. Looking down, he saw that he was levitating up in the air.
Anakin had his hand out to use the Force while Chief aimed his Blaster Carbine at the Neimodian. "It's over, you have nowhere to run." The Spartan reminded the General.
General Durd only grumbled in defeat as cuffs were put around his wrists and admits his defeat. He was being accompanied by Chief and Anakin as they went back to regroup with the others, all of whom managed to survive. Just then, the Spartan could hear Cameron congratulating him. "That was awesome, Chief!"
"No wonder Domino Squad talks so highly about you." Flash added in.
Seeing the Clones admiring the Master Chief, Fred couldn't help but to shake his head in disbelief. "Seems like you're inspiring hope as always, Chief?"
"…" He didn't comment as he saw the aftermath of the battle. Seeing that all of the Lurmen Settlers has survived but saw some damage of their buildings, he knew that their presence here is no longer necessary.
Now all that is left is to send a distress signal to any Republic Ship and hopefully pick them up. Then, he and Fred could locate where Kelly and Linda went.
Wherever they are in this Galaxy.
-Scene Change-
A distress signal was sent out and it didn't take long for three Republic Venators to come flying up in the skies of Maridun.
The group was about to leave when the Lurmen Chieftain gave some heart-warming words to them and about his concerns with the war unfolding in the galaxy.
Climbing on board of an LAAT, they manage to get aboard of the Resolute and the captured Lok Durd was taken in by Republic Troopers.
After seeing the Neimodian being taken into custody, Admiral Yularen then came towards them and told them about a meeting taking place within the ship's Bridge. Fred and Chief decide to stay behind for a bit before meeting them up as they were discussing on a certain topic before stooping at the entrance at the Bridge.
And that was about Chief's concerns about the Supreme Chancellor. He wanted Fred to tell them about his necessary information if he is being questioned to who he is. Which is definitely bound to happen.
"So, let me get this straight…" Fred looked at his close friend. "Despite the Chancellor being nice, you do not trust him?"
"Yes." Master Chief simply stated. "He may have hidden intentions. His gentleness and kindness are masking his true self." Joy wanted to go out of his armor, but she knew that Chief was very paranoid about her revealing herself to Palpatine.
"Hm." His friend hummed as he thought about it for a quick second before having his own thoughts. "Perhaps you may be right. Well, we do not need to be involved in political affairs. C'mon Chief, we need to go to the briefing right away and see what happened."
That was something that his best friend had to agree on. Entering the room, they saw Anakin, Ahsoka and Yularen are around a holo-table. There, the two Spartans could see a holoprojection of Obi-Wan, Yoda, Mace Windu, Plo-Koon, Palpatine, Padme and a Gungan named Jar Jar Binks.
All of them turned to their attention to the newly arrival duo. "Ah, Master Chief. It is truly a relief to see you alive and well." Palpatine kindly greeted the Spartan.
"What did I miss?" The Green Armoured Spartan asked straight away as he can see a facial expression of embarrassment shown on Kenobi's face.
Ahsoka decided to tell the Master Chief about what had just happened. "Oh, it's just that Master Plo and Obi-Wan were sent on a mission to capture Dooku but were caught by a certain set of pirates."
"Ahsoka…" Obi-Wan uttered, feeling embarrassed of hearing that experience once again.
Unlike Anakin who just snorted at hearing this, Master Chief just remained neutral. "I see."
Padme then looked at the left side of the Master Chief and saw another armoured person that looked identical to the Chief with the difference being the design of his helmet and the colour scheme on board of Anakin's ship. "Oh, and who might you be?"
Fred turns to Padme before looking at Chief in hesitation. His friend then nodded to introduce himself before he stepped out, catching everyone's attention as they turned to look at him. "My name is 104. Spartan and friend of the Master Chief."
Yoda hummed at hearing this, "Hm. Another lost comrade found."
"More like coincidence. He wasn't with me when I got transported here." The Master Chief reminded the Grandmaster of the Jedi Order as his friend soon got back to where the Spartan was. "It's complicated of how he got here, but we'll discuss that in another time."
Everyone knew in the room that even though Fred was new, he was serious. This was by them looking at the knives on his shoulders, his stance and the scratches present on his armour. "Anyway, I shall brief you two on what happened. Thanks to the efforts of Master Unduli, Commander Gree and Representative Binks, we've managed to capture Viceroy Nute Gunray."
"And I assume this is good news for all of you?" Master Chief bluntly asked her as he had some information about that individual and what he got himself involved in the Naboo Blockade ten years ago due to him researching about the Galactic Republic. As Joy wanted to get out of his armour, she knew the reaction that he will have if she had done such a thing.
"Indeed, this is good news, Master Chief." The Supreme Chancellor answered the Spartan's question. His gaze shifted his attention to Padme and gave a pleasant smile before facing back at the Spartan. "Thanks to the efforts of Senator Amidala and Representative Binks."
"With his capture, we can surely put an end to this war." Mace Windu said with a determined expression heard on his tone.
"You must've been busy, and I assume you want our help?" Master Chief guessed as he looked at others with a neutral and stoic tone.
"Well yes if you are willing to." Kenobi answered. "We do need assistance for escorting Nute Gunray."
Seeing that Ahsoka was still concerned about her Master, it immediately gave the green armoured Spartan an obvious idea. "Since General Skywalker is in no good condition, Ahsoka and I will be the ones to volunteer."
"Are you sure about that choice, Chief?" The bearded Jedi asked the Spartan. "You and the others had quite a rough time. I was hoping that all of you would have a rest?"
"Resting is not important right now General," Chief stated. "If there are other missions, then I am willing to go." He turned his attention to his close friend. "Fred, what about you?"
Fred was about to respond when one of the troopers came up. "Pardon me sirs and mams, but we got a distress signal coming from a group of 327th troopers."
Aayla blinked at hearing this. She didn't expect some survivors from her Clone Unit after that ambush. "Can you play it out for us?"
As soon as the audio played one of the troopers was heard. "Come in! This is CT-3781! I'm pinned down by Separatist Forces! We got an important vital intel we need to deliver!"
After hearing the message, Fred looked at Chief who then nods in permission for him to find and rescue this trooper. "Looks like I am going with you." Fred looks at Aayla.
"We're going to need Commander Bly and the three Rookies with him to rescue this trooper." The Twi'lek Jedi said, agreeing with the knife-wielding Spartan.
Padme looked at her secret husband and saw that he was in no good condition to go on another mission. She looked at the Jedi Grand Master as she had already found an answer. "It seems like we have already had an answer?"
"Indeed, we have." Yoda answered, hoping that these two may help answer some of the questions he's been wondering.
"Then it has been decided then," Chancellor Palpatine Spoke as he looked at the group. "Jedi Ahsoka Tano and Spartan Master Chief will assist into escorting Viceroy Nute Gunray while Spartan 104 assisting into rescuing a fellow trooper." Seeing that Chief and Fred were once again being split up, they gave each other one last look before parting ways to go on their missions.
Now all that was left was to find out where their teammates, Kelly and Linda were and find a way home. It was hard that there are a lot of planets to search upon for their whereabouts.
-Scene Change-
In an underground cave within a desert like planet, people with lengthy Lekkus, were eating some rationed food. All of them had different coloured skin. This ranges from blue to green to even orange. They were Twi'Leks, who are known for being famous for being a very interesting species when it comes to…let's just say some lustful attention against their free will.
In one area within the underground cave, one orange-skinned Twi'lek was conversing with a near-humanoid Jedi. Both were discussing about the progress made in their fight against the Separatists Forces on the planet known as Ryloth.
"With the number of separatist forces so far, I fear we may not have enough even with Clone survivors being found." The Jedi informed the orange Skinned Twi'lek.
"I understand your concern, Di." The other said as he was rubbing his mouth. "But my people would not be a free people if we were to fall into Separatist's hands."
Di just 'Hmmm' in understanding. He was about to respond he hears the Twi'leks talk as he sees more troopers arrived along with a big female armoured soldier. Her armour was unique as the design of her helmet was that its visors was covering most of it and had a shotgun on her back. Many Troops were talking to her while some Twi'leks had reunited with their loved ones that the big, armoured individual had escorted down to the underground safe house.
Both men just looked at armoured woman. They knew that weren't it for her actions, then both Clones and Twi'lek have been a worse state than they are now. Just then, they saw a lightly green skinned Twi'lek girl rushing up to her. "087!"
The armoured woman, being identified as Spartan Kelly-87, looked at the little Twi'lek girl running up to her. As the little girl got closer, Kelly begun to converse with her. "Hey kid. Sorry I took a while."
"Do you have anything for me or the others?" The green skinned Twi'lek girl asked, getting a little impatient.
This made Kelly get her bag off from her back and she started to fish something out. "Well, apart from toys…" she brought out some sort of wooden object and gave it to her. "I found this in your place. I was wondering if you would like it or not?"
The little Twi'lek girl grabbed the object and looked at it. This object was important. Not because what this meant for her family, but because of what it represents to the Twi'Leks. Smiling at this, she immediate ran up towards the orange skinned Twi'lek and wave the object on her hand. "Dad, look what 087 had gotten?"
"I can see that, Hera." He told her whole heartedly.
Kelly saw what had just unfolded and crossed her arms across her chest. "Least she and the other children can be happy in this time, Cham."
Cham Syndulla, the leader of the Twi'lek Resistance, just look at her with a smirk. "I cannot appreciate your help for aiding my people, Spartan 087."
The armoured woman shrugged her shoulder. "Ah, it's no big deal." While she appeared to be carefree and talkative, there was something in her mind. She was aiding another foreign power, yes, but at the same time she didn't fully commit herself to the Republic Forces here as she remained loyal to the UNSC.
Kelly knew that she was in another planet and without seeing Fred and Linda, she was practically on her own. Hopefully once this war is over, she could explore the rest of this galaxy and hopefully find her teammates.
For now, she would have to aid the remaining Republic Forces against the Separatists until reinforcements would arrive. Hopefully soon as she had how dire the situation had become.
There you have it. Spartan Kelly-087 is in the planet, Ryloth and the next chapter will be focusing on her. Since I had read her TV Trope page, I thought that this planet will be good for her.
Yeah, this is where the story is about to get more interesting. We're reaching some good story telling here people and about to introduce more characters. Hopefully I and jojobinks01 will not screw the next couple of chapters over. And to let you know that the next few chapters will be very interesting to say the least.
Fun fact, this is the longest chapter that I have written so far. Cannot believe it. It is like a milestone to this story.
Crimson Soldat: Just to let you know that the next three chapters will be focusing on the rest of Blue Team. And if you want to know where Linda is, you will have to wait to find out. For now, you're about to find out what Kelly had done in her time at Ryloth.
Jojobinks01: And trust us. This is gonna be purely different than Infinite Wars.
Yeah. We just did another wham scene and that was not good enough. But hey, at least I am getting a gist of it. Also, I do hope you enjoyed a cameo of a certain Twi'lek girl from Star Wars Rebels?
I hope you enjoyed this chapter despite the blatancy and any errors made in this chapter. Review this chapter and I and jojoblink01 will see you all in the next chapter. Whenever the next one will be published.
