Alexus's Point of View
The next morning, I tried getting to the dining room by myself. I managed to remember where to go and made it to my destination. Mr. Xemnas wasn't there when I went in. Axel, Ienzo, Mr. Vexen, and Mr. Xaldin were the only ones there. I sat in my seat and didn't so much as flinch when a Dusk brought me a plate of eggs and bacon. Ienzo tipped his chair back to see around Axel. "Hey, Alexus," Ienzo started.
"Zexion, sit right," Mr. Vexen chided.
Zexion leaned forward to try to talk to me again. "Hey, Alexus," Zexion repeated.
"Zexion, you can talk to her later. Finish your breakfast," Vexen huffed. Zexion went back to his food and tried to eat it quickly. Axel got up and took his breakfast somewhere else, giving Zexion and I the opportunity to talk without having to get around him.
"What is it that you wanted to tell me?" I wondered.
Before Zexion could say anything, Mr. Xemnas came in and took his place at the table, and a Dusk quickly placed a plate of bacon and eggs in front of him. "Were you able to find your way by yourself?" He asked me.
"Yes, sir," I replied.
"Good. I'm glad to see you're adjusting," Mr. Xemnas said. Mr. Xaldin scoffed, but I wasn't sure why.
I looked back at Ienzo to see if he would tell me what he had been trying to say to me all morning, but he went back to eating his breakfast. Any trace of excitement that had been there earlier had vanished from his face. When he finished his breakfast, he waited at the table until I had finished mine. That was when he turned to Mr. Vexen. "Can we go now?" Ienzo questioned.
"As soon as you tell me the rules," Mr. Vexen decided.
"Don't take Alexus to the lab, don't leave the castle, respect my elders, and don't leave Alexus unattended," Zexion recited.
"Very well," Mr. Vexen stated.
"Come on, Alexus. Let's go. Lord Xemnas said that I could play with you today," Zexion urged.
"Okay, I'm coming," I said. I followed Zexion out of the room.
"What do you want to do?" Zexion asked.
"I don't know. I was hoping that you had a plan," I sighed.
"Didn't Lexaeus get you books? We could read together," Zexion suggested.
"I have been itching to read my books. I like that idea," I agreed. We went back to my room, and I grabbed my fairy book. "This is the book that I've been reading."
Zexion was distracted by something else. I had left the letter that I had read the previous night on my dresser. "What's this?" Zexion asked, grabbing the letter.
"Wait, don't-" I tried, but it was too late. Zexion had already opened it and started reading.
"Oh. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I just saw it there and-" Zexion started.
I was furious. I didn't want anyone touching my precious letters from Mama. "Get out," I snapped.
"I said I was sorry. I didn't mean to," Zexion apologized.
"Get out!" I repeated. Zexion left my room in a hurry. I felt bad for snapping at him, but I couldn't stand the thought of anyone but me looking at the letters from Mama. More tears came rushing down my face. I was tired of all the tears. The minute I thought my tears would stop, another wave seemed to come. I kept crying until no more tears came out of me. By that point, I was so exhausted that I fell asleep.
