Alexus's Point of View
Mr. Xemnas showed me the star he and Mama were born on, and I was confused. "You were born on a star? I asked.
"Of course, as were you. I suppose I haven't explained this to you yet. Every star is another world. You see their light in the night sky," Mr. Xemnas explained.
"Wow. So I've been on stars all this time, and I didn't even know it?" It was a strange thought, but since coming to the Castle, I had seen stranger things with my own eyes.
"That is right. Someday this world will have a special heart-shaped moon in the sky called Kingdom Hearts. When it is completed, I will be able to have a heart of my own. Unfortunately, we do not have the means to create Kingdom Hearts at the moment, but we will someday," Mr. Xemnas mentioned.
I let his words sink in. He hadn't explained to me how he would get his heart back before, though I vaguely remember him saying that he was trying to get his heart back. "So when Kingdom Hearts is complete, you'll have emotions again?"
"Yes," Mr. Xemnas answered.
I hesitated. I wanted to try something new, but I wasn't sure if it would be a good idea. I had known him for almost two months and still called him Mr. Xemnas. I wanted to test out a new name for him. I looked up at him nervously, unsure what his reaction would be. "Then can you have fun with me, Papa?" It felt strange to call him that, but not in a bad way. His initial response was surprise, but then he broke into a smile.
"Yes, Alexus. Then we can have as much fun as you like." Mr. Xemnas paused for a moment. "Would you like some ice cream?"
"Yes, please," I replied. He took me to the kitchen and gave me a bar of sea-salt ice cream. "Thank you, Papa."
"You know, we should have you working on wielding a weapon again," Mr. Xemnas mused.
My smile fell. "Do I really have to?" I questioned.
"Do you remember the Heartless?" Mr. Xemnas brought up. I nodded. "If you should ever find yourself in a situation where there is a Heartless nearby, and no one is able to protect you, I want you to be able to defend yourself. Do you understand?"
"I won't have to hurt anybody, right?" I whimpered.
"Of course not. I would never put you in a position where you felt you had to. It is only for your protection," Mr. Xemnas assured me.
"Will you teach me to use Mama's daggers?" I asked.
"If you would like," Mr. Xemnas answered.
"I guess so, then," I sighed. I finished my ice cream and threw away the stick. "What now?"
"Why don't we get started on your training," Mr. Xemnas suggested. I tensed. "How about this. If you do well, you may have another ice cream bar as a reward. Would you do it for ice cream?"
While another sea salt ice cream was all fine and good, I wondered if I could convince him to do something even more special. I figured I didn't have much to lose. "Could I get a sundae from a real ice cream shop?"
"Oh? An ice cream bar isn't rewarding enough?" I thought he was going to say no, but he surprised me. "Very well. If that is what you want, then that is what you will get. In return, I only ask that you do your best today. Will you do that for me, Alexus?"
"Yes, Papa," I agreed.
