A/N: Damn, we're moving along a lot quicker here than in the last one. So, this chapter is pretty much a straight forward adaptation of Chapter 3 of the original story, as well as once again including scenes from Episode 3 of The Sandman series. But before we begin, I forgot to mention this in the previous two chapters: Originally after the last one, I was going to write an adaptation of Potsey's "The Adventures of Alice Pierce" since that one was the next in the series after the first Dark Legends story. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that so little would've changed about that story in this series. So because of that, I decided to skip it and just immediately move on to adapting Dark Legends 2, and include a quick recap of Adventures of Alice in the last chapter. But that doesn't necessarily mean I'll never tackle that story one way or another, cause some things still would've changed. You guys will find out when this story is over. Anyways, that's enough talking out of me.

Alice and her team had finally arrived at their destination as they all stood outside a heavily guarded building, which happened to be the Ninth Circle's hideout.

"Well, here we are." Alice said, loading her pistol and then turning to her friends. "You guys ready?"

"Ready as we'll ever be." William replied, putting on his blue hood as Nora and Trixie nodded.

"Then let's do this."

"Alright, so here's how we could get to the ninth floor." Trixie started. "We could-"

But the others weren't exactly listening to Espinoza as Alice turned to William.

"Will, you mind knocking?"

Clayton smirked as he shot an explosive arrow and blew the doors right off!

"Or we could just do that." Trixie muttered.

"Trixie, look for shortcuts next time." Nora said, to which Trixie rolled her eyes.

Just then, a bunch of criminals came onto the scene and began to shoot at the group. But then Nora held her hand up and stopped the bullets with her magic mid-air, while Alice, William, and Trixie fired their own weapons.

"You got a net arrow in there?" Alice asked Will.

"No, but I do have this!" Blue Arrow replied as he shot an arrow with a flashbang, completely blinding the thugs temporarily.

This moment was all the team needed as they made light work of them. Pierce shot at least four of them with her pistol, Blue Arrow shot three with his arrows, Darhk choked two of them with her telekinesis, and then when she was about to take of the last one, Trixie stepped in the way and cut his head off with her demon dagger. She then gave her teammates a sly grin.

"You guys can thank me later."

"I mean, it's not like we needed your help." Nora said. "We were doing just fine."

"Hey Nora, look for shortcuts next time." Espinoza smirked, repeating Nora's line from earlier.

"Fuck you." Darhk whispered with an annoyed tone as the group then started advancing their way through the hideout.

Alice and her team ran up several flights of stairs for a good 3 minutes. And kept running, and running, and running, to the point of exhaustion, until they finally reached the ninth and final floor. William then leaned his ear toward one of the very first doors on the right, being able to hear some muffled conversations through it.

"They should be in here."

The four were about to kick the door down, but suddenly an unknown figure snuck up behind and knocked them all out, sending them straight to the ground…

The team opened their eyes and found themselves in a dark room with their hands tied behind their backs and they were completely stripped of their weapons. Alice looked to see Ninth Circle members in suits and wearing masks, one in particular wore one that looked like a demon's head. Pierce figured this was Virgil, the new leader of the organization after the Green Arrow killed their previous leader, Dante.

"So… I take it you're the vigilantes?" Virgil asked. "You've been fucking up my business for a month."

"Go fuck yourself!" Alice spat.

Virgil smirked, before approaching the Blue Arrow, and then proceeded to throw his hood back. He laughed as soon as he realized who the turquoise archer really was.

"Holy shit, you're Oliver Queen's son!" Virgil exclaimed, before pulling out his gun. "Then that means… He's the Green Arrow! Perfect opportunity to get our revenge."

"Go ahead and shoot." William dared. "Because if you do, then my father will kill you all, and topple your organization, just like he did before."

"I'd like to see him try." Virgil gloated as he cocked his gun.

"You suck at bluffing." Nora scoffed.

With that, Virgil was about to pull the trigger… When suddenly…

Tink!

A small object shattered glass, and knocked the gun away. Alice took a closer look at the object and noticed that it was in the shape of a bat. Oh yeah. She knew exactly what this was as she looked toward Virgil with a grin.

"Surprise."

A large figure in what looked like a black suit designed like a bat then jumped into the room, shocking the members of Ninth Circle, as they quickly realized who this man was.

"Oh shit, it's Batman!" one of the members shouted, before The Dark Knight punched him in the face. He then delivered a roundhouse kick to the one right next to him, before proceeding to uppercut a third one.

The rest of the members began firing at Batman, but he was clearly too fast for them as he ducked and uppercutted most of them and threw some of them towards the wall. Then, he threw down his smoke pellet towards eight of the highest members and the entire area got enveloped in white vision. As they began coughing, Batman then snuck behind them and tackled three of them to the ground, knocking them all out with a single punch, before firing his grappling hook towards another one, latching it onto the man's shoulder, pulling him forward and proceeded to punch him in the face. Finally, he threw five of his batarangs, one towards Pierce and her team, freeing them for the ropes and the other four towards four of the members, knocking them all out. Seeing as there was only one of them left, that being Virgil, Batman walked toward him and lifted him by grabbing him by the shirt, giving him his signature glare.

"Fuck you!" Virgil shouted. "If you send me to jail, I'll tell the whole world that Queen is the Green Arrow! And I already know you won't kill me!"

"I won't." Batman admitted. "But he might. And even if the Green Arrow doesn't kill you, they certainly will." He nudged his head towards the kids, who also gave Virgil a glare. With that, Batman punched the lights out of the Circle's leader.

"You're a long way from Gotham." Alice commented. "I'm guessing this isn't a social call."

"Unfortunately not." Batman admitted. "I need your help. Have you seen Constantine?"

"Not for a while." Alice replied, shaking her head. "But luckily, I do know where he hides out. Why, what's going on?"

"Have you seen the news lately?" Wayne asked. "Millions of innocent civilians are killing each other, and claim to have seen demonic visions while doing so. I'd say it was a metahuman, but it's slowly happening all over the planet."

This news shocked the teens. They had all seen crazy paranormal activity before, all their lives in fact. But this… This sounded like a whole other level. Nothing like what they had faced before.

"Holy shit. Lucifer never told me about any demons that can possess people on that level." Trixie commented.

"Yeah. Not even Mallus could possess billions of souls at a time." Nora added. "He wasn't that powerful."

"Actually, I did hear about something that can do this." Alice spoke up. "There is an artifact called the dreamstone. I read about it through one of Constantine's books about magical artifacts. It apparently just appeared out of thin air in the hands of some occult called the Order of Ancient Mysteries in the 1910s, and is said to influence people's dreams and induce visions."

"I've heard of this as well." William added. "Just last year, Dad, The Flash, and Wonder Woman fought this guy named John Dee. He claimed to have used something called the dreamstone, but I had thought Dad destroyed it."

"Well, last I checked, Dee was transferred from Iron Heights to Arkham Asylum." Alice reminded Bruce. "Think we should go pay him a visit?"

"Might as well." Batman agreed. "Then, we shall visit Constantine."

With that, Alice and her friends left with Batman out of the Ninth Circle's hideout and were on their way to Arkham Asylum.

Dream stood in the middle of The Dreaming ready to summon The Fates, with Lucifer and Lucienne watching across from where he was standing. Just a few minutes ago, Morpheus went to navigate his sacred waters which contained the dreams of others to find a gift to offer the Fates, albeit the waters had gotten much darker since the last time he visited them, most likely due to his absence. And after some hard digging, he had finally found the thing he needed: a serpent.

"You know, it's been awhile since I've seen The Fates." Lucifer said. "In a way, they sort of stole my shtick with favors."

"Lucifer, let him focus." Lucienne told him.

"Yes, sorry." Lucifer said, understanding the situation. With that, Dream began the summoning.

"I, Lord Morpheus, Dream of The Endless, summon The Fates…"

BOOM!

A figure appeared in front of him.

"The Three-Who-Are-One,"

BOOM!

Another figure then appeared.

"The One-Who-Is-Three."

BOOM!

A third figure appeared, which appeared to be an elderly woman with gray hair.

"The Hecate."

BOOM!

Two other women appeared right next to the elder woman, one of them had dark hair with gray streaks, and the other one had light brown skin.

"Morpheus, it's been awhile." the brown skinned Fate greeted, before turning her brief attention to Lucifer. "Oh… And I see the former Lord of Hell is with you as well."

"Hello, ladies." Lucifer said, grinning as he waved.

"You look thin, love." the dark haired Fate commented. "Are you eating? Are you hungry?"

"He is, but not for food." the elderly Fate said. "Look at him. He wants something."

"You've found me out." Dream remarked.

"Yes, bravo, detectives." Lucifer added, clapping. Maybe this was where he got his initial respect for Chloe Decker.

"I do want something." Dream continued. "I need your help."

"Help?" the elderly Fate inquired. "Oh, listen to him. Like you helped us against Circe?"

"Circe's old business, sister-self." the dark haired Fate reminded her.

"And he did bring nice stuff." the brown skinned Fate added.

Dream then handed the dark haired Fate the serpent he found in his sacred waters as it slivered onto her arm.

"You may ask us three questions."

The Fates then proceeded to swallow the serpent into their mouths.

"And get one answer from each of us."

"Thank you, ladies." Dream nodded.

"That could've been a nice little pet of mine." Lucifer muttered glumly.

"SILENCE, MORNINGSTAR!" the elderly Fate commanded. "ONLY DREAM IS ASKING THE QUESTIONS!"

"Right, my apologies." Morningstar said, deciding to keep his mouth shut for the time being. With that, Morpheus began to ask his questions.

"My first question: I had a leather pouch filled with sand… Where is it?"

BOOM!

Dream then suddenly found himself at an unknown place in the middle of the rain. What caught his attention though was a man with blonde hair and a trench coat holding an umbrella.

"It was sold… in Atlanta… last purchased by a magic user called… John Constantine."

This made Lucifer scoff. Of bloody course Constantine had it. That sounded exactly like him.

"Constantine… I knew a Constantine, but that was 300 years ago."

Now that made Lucifer perk up in curiosity. Dream knew one of John's ancestors? If so, that means he must have an idea of what his family was like. However, Morningstar was still pissed at Constantine for wrecking his penthouse, so he doesn't feel like dealing with him right now. But he did make a mental note to ask Dream about this later.

The Sandman suddenly found himself back at The Dreaming.

"You said "Last purchased". Does he still have the sand?" Dream asked.

"Dream, you know better than that." the brown skinned Fate said. "You get one question, one answer."

"My apologies." Dream muttered. "My second question…"

"Go on, dear." the dark haired Fate told him.

"My helm. What happened to it?"

The Fate smirked.

BOOM!

Dream then found himself at another unknown location with what looked like a mask-like on top of a drawn symbol with many lit candles and a woman that looked to be at least in her 40s performing some type of spell.

"It was traded to a demon…"

The helm then disappeared into flames, and an amulet of sorts suddenly appeared in its place.

"For the Amulet of Protection…"

"To which demon was it traded?" Dream asked.

"One question, one answer, love." the dark haired Fate repeated.

"Last question: My ruby… who holds it now?"

Morpheus then found himself at a random bedroom, as he saw a woman giving some necklace to her infant son.

"Your gem was passed on from a mother to a son."

"Where are they now?"

"YOU HAVE ASKED YOUR QUESTIONS!"

BOOM!

And then, The Fates disappeared, leaving Dream alone.

Later, Dream, Lucifer, and Lucienne found themselves on a wooden plank, which stood above Morpheus' sacred waters.

"Damn, I forgot how crafty and mysterious The Fates could truly be." Lucifer commented, before he remembered something. "So, did you just say your ruby?"

"Yes." Dream replied.

"I think I know exactly what happened to it." Lucifer informed, which perked The Sandman. "Constantine, who The Fates mentioned earlier, and his friend Gibb won it in a game of poker earlier just before you and Lucienne showed up."

"So he has both my sand and my ruby… And yet I've just missed him…" Dream realized. "We need to find him immediately. If he is even a little bit like his ancestor, then he will serve me well enough."

"No, I'd rather we go to Hell first. It's much closer to here than Earth is, and I'm currently not in the mood to deal with John's bullshit." Morningstar said. "I do know where one of his friends lives though. We shall speak with him after we get Dream's helm back."

"Fine." Dream sighed. "But we must hurry. Both The Dreaming and the waking world are at stake."

"Yes, of course, Sandy." Lucifer agreed.

"Good luck, you two." Lucienne said.

With that, Lucifer flipped one of his Pentecostal coins and he and Dream vanished into flames, leaving Lucienne alone.

Arkham Asylum

Batman, alongside Alice and her team, found themselves in the middle of the cold night strolling through Arkham Asylum. All the while, they were being accompanied by Gotham City's Police Commissioner for more than 20 years, James Gordon.

"He's insane, I tell you!" Gordon yelled. "There is no way in Hell he's gonna tell you anything!"

"I'm not here to necessarily interrogate Dee, Jim." Batman told him. "I'm just here to make sure he's right where he belongs."

"And the kids?" Gordon asked, pointing towards Alice, William, Nora, and Trixie. "Don't tell me you're having another one already."

"We work on our own." Alice said, shaking her head. "No offense, Batsey, but I'm definitely not gonna dress up in a bird costume."

"Yeah, same." Nora agreed.

"I wasn't planning on it anyway." Batman muttered.

"I don't know." Trixie said, looking at Nora with a smirk. "I think you'd look kind of cute in that type of outfit."

"Shut up." Darhk said, annoyed. Espinoza then chuckled.

With that, the group started walking through Arkham. As they walked, Alice started to catch glimpses of the other inmates.

First one she noticed was a short and portly man with a balding head, and a monocle over his left eye.

Another one was a man whose right side of his face was perfectly normal, but the left side appeared to be burnt in some shape or form, with a bloodshot eye bulging from a naked socket and a permanent scowl to complete the look.

But one inmate in particular that caught Pierce's eye was a man with skin pale as bones, long green hair, and red lipstick smeared into his face. But that's not what caught her attention.

No, what really made her shudder at this man was… his laugh. That wicked… horrifying… and maniacal laugh…

There was just something about it that really… unsettled her…

It sounded like a madman… In particular, it sounded like… Like…

"Alice?"

Alice's train of thought got interrupted when she noticed that her teammates were looking at her with concern in their eyes.

"Is something wrong?" Clayton asked.

"His laugh." Pierce started, looking at the pale man. "It sounds almost exactly like… like…"

Alice shuddered again as a chill went down her spine.

"Chucky."

"Hey." Will said, patting his hand on her shoulder. "He's gone. Your uncle killed him five years ago."

"You even sent him back to Hell yourself when Damien Darhk brought him back to life." Trixie added. "He's never coming back."

"I know… It's just…" Alice said before trailing off. But then, an idea popped in her head as she quickly pulled out an amulet given to her by Constantine and Andy to see if somebody was really who they said they were.

And after taking another look at the pale man, it was revealed that he wasn't in fact possessed by Chucky. Thank God, as Pierce took a sigh of relief.

"What is that?" Batman asked.

"Uncle Andy and John gave me this to see if people were possessed or they were demons."

"Well, did you forget that Damballa is also dead?" Nora reminded her. "With him gone, his power died with him."

"We're wasting time." Batman told the teens. "We need to keep going."

Alice and her friends nodded in agreement, and with that, the group continued to walk forward, noticing even more inmates along the way.

One of them was some giant crocodile-like man with razor sharp teeth.

Another one was a man with a bag over his face and was wearing some type of business suit.

And finally, Alice noticed a bald man with scars all over his body, arranged in some kind of… tally marks.

"Here he is." Batman announced as he opened a door, and they all took a peek of what was inside the cell. What they all saw was an old man with gray hair and blue eyes sitting on his bed.

"Wow." Alice said, unimpressed. "This is John Dee?"

"After the breakdown and transfer, I had heard he stopped eating a lot and got very little sleep." Blue Arrow explained.

"Can't sleep…" Dee muttered, schizophrenically. "Can't dream… Must think… happy thoughts…"

"The fuck is that about?" Trixie asked, confused.

"Well, apparently after Wonder Woman damaged the stone, it caused Dee to stop dreaming." Clayton informed. "At least, that's what he claimed."

"Let me speak with him."

The group all turned to see an elderly woman with platinum blonde hair. Around her neck was a necklace that held some type of amulet.

"Who are you?" Pierce asked.

"I am Ethel Dee, John's mother." Ethel introduced herself.

"Wow, never even thought you would still be alive." Trixie said, which made Nora lightly punch her on the shoulder, although due to how strong Darhk was thanks to her magic, it still hurt like a brick to Espinoza.

"Ow! No offense."

"Well, then I guess we'll leave and give you guys some personal space." William said, as Ethel then walked inside the room to talk with her son.

Alice then looked at her curiously. There was something… familiar about both her and Dee… Almost… too familiar.

Pierce shrugged the thought off for now, as there were more important things to deal with right now. With that, the group walked out of the building.

"Well, there it is." Batman said. "Dee is still in Arkham, where he rightfully belongs."

"Then there's something else causing these occurrences." Nora stated. "But who do we know that has this kind of power?"

"Well, how many sorcerers are still living?" Batman asked. Alice pondered that question for a bit, until coming to an unfortunate conclusion.

"We don't know. And none that we do know can do anything like this." Alice said bluntly. "But first things first: We need to find Constantine."

"Agreed." Batman nodded.

With that, the group hopped inside the Batmoblie, and with Alice giving Batman directions, started driving their way to Constantine's place.
