4. Hibari

It was new years eve, and Gokudera found himself locked at school with Mukuro's mortal enemy; one Hibari Kyouya. He heard the cheers coming outside from the crowd as they were enjoying the fireworks. How did they wind up in there? There was of course a Lambo, and for some reason, an I-Pin at play of course, and Gokudera was sure he had detected Bianchi somewhere, somehow.

Gokudera wanted to suggest blowing up the door, but the last time he had, Hibari had expressed his disdain for destroying school property quite clearly. He found the raven-haired teen chilling on one of the mats, belonging to the turn team, not really caring for the fesitivities outside. Gokudera was aware that he hated crowding.

''Stop fussing.'' Hibari told him. ''Well, who's going to protect the tenth?'' Gokudera protested, still trying to find a way out. ''I won't tell you twice.'' Hibari shot him a look. For a minute, Gokudera fell silent. ''Don't you want out?'' he asked, as he sat down on the floor. ''No.'' Hibari simply told him. ''In here there are no crowds.'' he added after Gokuder's confused look.

''So are friends. New years is supposed to be about being with them, and family. You're part of the family too.'' Gokudera said, playing with some nearby ball. Curiously, Hibari looked up. ''Explain.'' he said, making Gokudera shudder at the demanding tone. ''Well, it's clear Reborn wants you to be in. He's never given anyone a choice before, not a real one.'' Gokudera said.

''Sounds like a gang.'' Hibari said, squinting. Ganging of course, was to be considered as a crowd. ''A nice gang at the very least.'' Gokudera said. Hibari raised his eyebrows, he sounded awfully fond there for a second. ''Do you consider them to be your family?'' he asked, making Gokudera look up. ''I suppose so.'' he said, musing, sinking in his deep thoughts.

It was Yamamoto outside, who noticed Hibird chirping as he had found a nice worm on the ground. ''Ah, hey there little fellow.'' he said, as he got closer to the bird. ''Hiiiii, Yamamoto, don't suddenly pet him. You're going to get Hibari upset!'' Tsuna shrieked, next to him. ''It'll be fine.'' Yamamoto laughed, as he fished some food out of his pocket, crumbling it up, before feeding the content bird.

''Why don't we try and go find the owner? We still have to meet with Gokudera, anyway.'' Yamamoto suggested, as the bird hopped on his hand. ''It's strange he's late. I hope nothing bad happened.'' Tsuna said worried. ''It's Gokudera, he can save himself.'' Yamamoto laughed. 'I also worry about whoever he met and them blowing up.' Tsuna couldn't bring himself to say it.

Also, Kyoko and Haru made their way, and he was practically lost for words at how stunning they both looked, overlooking the fact that next to them Bianchi, I-Pin and Lambo were causing a bit of chaos. ''Why don't you show the girls around, I'll try and find the owner, and perhaps Gokudera.'' Yamamoto grinned, patting his shoulder.

He wandered off, as he looked at the bird. ''I don't suppose you know where they are.'' he said, petting the bird. He didn't exactly understand how, but the bird looked at him quite seriously. ''Or maybe you do.'' he said, as he wandered about, checking in with the bird whether is was the right direction.

''So, this family, will it be a challenge?'' Hibari asked, deciding to humor Gokudera. ''I think it can be so. At least the family I grew up in was.'' Gokudera said, now lying down as well. Hibari shot him a look. ''Mafia?'' he asked, and Gokudera nodded. ''That idiot you and Sawada are walking around with, he often mentions a game.'' he said.

Gokudera blushed. ''It's not a game.'' he replied. ''I figured.'' Hibari replied. ''But, maybe not tell Yamamoto that.'' Gokudera quietly added, and Hibari gave him a look. ''Really? The idiot?'' he asked. ''Shut up.'' Gokudera told him, appearently Hibari was opening up a bit too much, and so was he.

''He's a good kid. Strong too. I'd like to fight him again someday.'' Hibari as he got up. ''Do you have to fight everyone?'' Gokudera said, eyeing his movements. Hibari was getting his tonfa's out. ''If you want me to be in the family, and not tell Yamamoto your secret.'' he said, getting ready. ''Seriously?'' Gokudera asked, scrambling to get up. Hibari only smirked before he charged forward.

Yamamoto was close to giving up, the bird had shown him every corner of the school that Hibari liked, before it pecked his hand, and cocked his head towards the gym. ''The gym, at this time?'' Yamamoto laughed, but again, the bird seemed quite serious. ''Well, Hibari does like the school, maybe he is in there.''

Just when he wanted to open the door, a big blast did it already for him, with him just dodging the door. ''I didn't think the uptake here was that bad...'' Yamamoto told the bird, before heading into the gym, ignoring the students in the back, who naturally rang away from the explosion.

In the gym, he found Hibari wresting Gokudera to the ground, just ready to bash in his face with the tonfa. ''What's going on?'' Yamamoto asked, making them halt for a second. Hibari looked at him, ready to beat the intruder too, before he noticed Hibird, making himself comfertable on Yamamoto's shoulder to get a good few.

Gokudera used the halt he made to push Hibari off, pushing him to the ground instead, but not before taking the Tonfa out of his hand, and shoving it off. ''I take it I won.'' Gokudera said, eyeing him. Hibari considered it for a second, and to be frank, he could still easily take Gokudera. But, sometimes even someone like Hibari could find humor in the strangest of situations, and leaned forward.

Gokudera, watching his every movement, stayed put, perhaps anticipated a head bump. Instead, not unlike the fight with Mukuro, the other charged forward, and his fourth kiss was taken. It was small and brief, just like Hibari was, and when he retreated, he whispered, ''I am in the family.'' before pushing Gokudera off. Yamamoto wasn't sure what to make off it, but flinched as Hibari walked up to him. ''I'll take it from here.'' he said, allowing Hibird to sit on his head, which it happily did so, before walking off.
