Chapter 3: Foolish Loyalty
Hyūga Compound: Some time after the council meeting.
"Unbelievable! Tsunade-sama actually had a child, one that could quite well restore the Senju Clan in Konoha,"A Hyuga Elder said, frustrated.
"With the Toad Sage, nonetheless. This could greatly affect our standing in Konoha; if this boy actually succeeds in rebuilding his clan, then, our clan's power and influence in the village would be greatly reduced." Another Elder commented, his voice filled with worry.
Soon, after the council meeting ended, the clan's head, Hyūga Hiashi, returned to the compound and informed the rest of the clan with the revelation. They were all justifiably shocked at just the idea of a new Senju heir in the village, which was something that none of them could have possibly predicted. They were all worried about the prospect of a new Senju heir rebuilding the Senju Clan as the Hyūga had achieved the title of the most powerful clan after the extermination of the Uchiha Clan.
"Tell us Hiashi, did Hiruzen say anything of what the boy is capable of?" Hiashi's father, who was head of the Hyuga Clan, asked.
"Unfortunately, no. The Hokage said that he had no knowledge of the boy's capabilities, Jiraiya was supposed to inform the Hokage of them, but his arrival was delayed." Hiashi answered.
The Elders frowned at this, knowing what Seiyru was capable of could have helped them plan out what they should do next and what to expect from the boy. They were sure that the boy was skilled due to both his heritage and the fact that he was trained by his parents.
"Have you seen the boy?" An Elder inquired.
"No, the boy was attending the Academy when the Hokage announced his existence to us. My guess is that the Hokage is trying to keep the boy out of the view of large crowds and other influential groups such as ourselves for as long as possible, so that he won't be overwhelmed or used in the politics of the village." Hiashi explained.
"Then we must find a way to get the boy on our side. The boy is a Senju; the main founder of this village, and when he's older, he will have an enormous influence in the village and will, most likely, have the people's support. His existence alone will shift a great deal of the influence our clan has had in the village to him, but if we can get the boy to ally with our clan, then the Hyūga Clan's influence will grow even greater." One of the Elders suggested.
"Huh, maybe..." Hiashi's father trailed off.
"What is it, Father?" Hiashi asked.
"Your daughter will soon do the exam to become a Kunoichi, maybe if she does succeed on the exam…"
"What are you suggesting?" One of the Elders asked.
"I have an idea, but it will depend on Hiashi's daughter, whether it will work, or not," he told them.
"What exactly is your idea?" Hiashi questioned his father.
"If Hinata does succeed in becoming a Kunoichi, I'll tell you, but right now, it's for the best that you don't know about it. We need to be very careful with this," his father replied before he stood up and left the room. Hiashi and the others could only watch and try to figure out what exactly the Hyūga head was planning.
Hiashi was frustrated by his father's secrecy, but he decided to go with it for now. He was just hoping that whatever was this plan that involved his daughter was nothing drastic.
Today was the day. Senju Seiryu woke up to prepare for the exam. He ate a sandwich and drank a glass of milk before he left the apartment. He decided to leave his sword and utility belt behind as he wouldn't need it. Also, he decided not to create any shadow clones today.
He left his apartment and made his way to the Academy while observing the people around him. He could tell they were staring at him. Probably some had already figured out who he was. I guess I'll have to get used to this. Seiryu thought as he walked down the street.
Besides the exam, Seiryu had a few things on his mind. First was the information about how his godfather died, since he was regarded as one of the strongest shinobi in history and it was absurd the idea that someone had killed him so easily. Second was the disappearance of his godmother, who was a member of the Uzumaki Clan, which Seiryu is, himself, a descendent of, like his mother. Seiryu wondered if there was a connection between the two.
He brushed the thoughts aside for now, as he preferred to concentrate on the exam.
It didn't take long for him to arrive at the Academy. He ended up bumping into his new friend, Kiba and his dog, Akamaru, at the entrance.
"Sup, Seiryu," he greeted, along with Akamaru.
"Woof!" Akamaru barked.
"Hey, Kiba!" he fist-bumped him. "Hi Akamaru," he smiled and patted him on the head. "Ready for the exam?"
"Totally! I'm going to nail this thing," he said with lots of confidence.
"Alright, let's get inside them."
The two friends proceeded to make their way to the classroom, where Seiryu noticed a little annoying thing. The last member of the Uchiha Clan was staring at him from afar. Kiba didn't notice, and Seiryu decided to ignore it.
Today he was just going to focus on the exam; whatever the Uchiha boy wanted with him, he didn't care.
I'll have a chance to see what he's capable of today. Sasuke thought while he saw Seiryu walking alongside Kiba.
The two entered the classroom and saw both Chōji and Shikamaru.
"Hey, my lazy and big-boned friends." Seiryu greeted them.
"Hey, Seiryu," Chōji returned, eating a bag of chips.
Shikamaru lazily waved.
After greeting each other, they all went to find their seats. Seiryu sat on the same seat as yesterday. Luckily for him, Hinata was also sitting in the same seat.
"Good morning, Hinata." Seiryu greeted her cheerily.
"G-go-good mo-morning S-S-Seiyu-sama." Hinata stuttered, like yesterday.
Meanwhile, Iruka was standing in front of thirty students. Many of which he was going to miss as he had grown quite fond of them all.
After a few minutes of reminiscing, Iruka believed he had done enough and decided to get things going for the exam. He signaled to his assistant, Mizuki, that it was time to begin the exam.
"Good morning, class," Iruka said.
"Good morning." The class returned.
"Now... As you all know, today is the last day that we will be together as a class, and I hope you are all ready for your exam." Iruka announced. "First, we will have the writing portion."
Mizuki started to distribute question sheets for the exam.
The moment Seiryu took a good look at the paper, he wrote all the answers in less than fifteen minutes, as he already learned about most of them from his lessons with his Aunt Shizune.
Seiryu became bored. rather quickly since it only took him fifteen minutes to finish, and the rest of the class took two and a half hours, which Seiryu had to spend sitting down, waiting.
He noticed three people staring at him while he waited; Sasuke, Iruka, and Mizuki.
He finished in fifteen minutes while it took me twenty, Sasuke thought, frustrated.
He's the first one to finish; I wonder how he will do on the rest,Iruka thought.
I still haven't received any notice from Orochimaru; did Kabuto deliver my message?Mizuki wondered.
Soon enough, it was time for Mizuki to take the exams. Iruka told everyone that the next part of the exam was going to test them on their throwing and aiming, where they would first throw their shurikens at the target, after which they were to throw their shurikens at the three target dummies.
For the next hour, each of the students took turns throwing shurikens at the target polls and the target dummies.
Shikamaru hit two out of the ten target points on the target poll and got one out of five target points on the first target dummy, zero out of five on the second dummy, and one out of five again on the third.
He's not even trying. Seiryu thought as he saw his new friend barely make an effort.
Kiba hit five out of the ten target points on the target poll and got four out of five target points on the first target dummy, two out of five on the second dummy, and four out of five on the third.
Something tells me that aim is not his strongest attribute. Seiryu considered watching his friend do fairly well on the test.
Sakura hit five out of the ten target points on the target poll and got two out of five target points on the first target dummy, one out of five on the second dummy, and one out of five on the third.
Meh, was Seiryu's only opinion on her performance.
Hinata hit seven out of the ten target points on the target poll and got four out of five target points on the first target dummy, five out of five on the second dummy, and four out of five again on the third.
Great, she definitely has a lot of potential. Seiryu realized this while he saw Hinata's good performance.
Finally, the last students remaining were Sasuke and Seiryu.
Sasuke got all the target points on the target poll at once, by throwing all his shurikens at once, they all hit the target points on the target poll dead centre at roughly the same time. Upon seeing this, Sasuke's fangirls started to scream and cheer loudly at him.
After Sasuke was finished, Iruka called Seiryu up and handed him the ten shurikens he needed to throw at the target.
Seiryu nodded at him, then turned to face the target poll and just like Sasuke, he threw all ten of his shurikens at once. They all hit the target points on the target poll dead centre at roughly the same time, much to the shock and surprise of everyone. Afterwards, Seiryu threw all shurikens at once at the first, second, and third target dummies and hit all five target points on each of the dummies dead centre at the same time.
Many of the students were greatly surprised since they didn't expect anyone other than Sasuke to get a perfect score like that on the throwing section.
"Way to go, Seiryu!" Kiba said out loud to him; he was pleased to see someone matching Sasuke for once.
"Goo-good job Se-seiryu-sama." Hinata stuttered as she complimented him.
Iruka was surprised. It seems that Seiryu lives up to his heritage, and by judging the look on Sasuke's face, the ancient rivalry between the Senju and Uchiha Clan still lives on in the last of their descendants. Iruka realized when he saw Sasuke watching Seiryu with a calculated gaze.
Soon after the throwing and aiming tests were done, Iruka began the Taijutsu exam, where he started to call out people in pairs, and had them fight each other using only Taijutsu to see how good their skills were.
For the next five minutes, the students fought each other with Taijutsu where some won and others lost. Seiryu watched their fights, but only a few were really worth watching.
Hinata's fight against Ino; where Ino tried to attack Hinata with her knowledge of basic Academy level Taijutsu, but was easily defeated by Hinata, who used her superior Gentle Fist fighting style to quickly disable and defeat her.
So that's the Gentle Fist. I was wondering what the style looked like. Seiryu thought as he saw Hinata easily defeat Ino.
Shikamaru fought a student named Kual, and Shikamaru barely made any effort.
Why is he even here then? Seiryu asked in frustration since Shikamaru was barely taking this exam seriously.
Chōji fought against a student named Katonah, where he used his size and power to defeat him.
Nice, I guess eating as much as you do has it's advantages,he thought while he watched Chōji overwhelm his opponent with his weight.
Kiba fought a student named Kyi, which Kiba defeated with ease using some acrobatic attacks.
He's fast. I wonder how he fights when he's with Akamaru. Seiryu wondered; he knew the Inuzuka Clan had special techniques with their animal companions.
"Now come forward, Uchiha Sasuke," Iruka called, and several girls cheered for him. "And Senju Seiryu."
Suddenly, several started to murmur about the current situation, most of them were wondering about Seiryu's capabilities due to him being the son of the Slug Princess.
Both boys, on the other hand, had something else in mind.
Great, I can finally see what he's capable of. Sasuke cheered, internally; he was pleased to face the heir of the Senju Clan.
Okay, I'm going to make a better effort to not use too much strength this time. Seiryu thought since he was still a bit worried about how hard he hit that boy with the green jumpsuit. Seiryu inherited his mother's raw strength, which was a lot so he has to be careful.
Soon enough, Seiryu and Sasuke were on the fighting platform facing one another, with several of Sasuke's fangirls cheering for him, while Seiryu's friends were doing the same.
"Kick his ass, Seiryu!" Kiba yelled.
"Watch out, he's good." Shikamaru offered advice.
"Goo-good l-luck S-S-Seiyu-sama!" Hinata told him, loudly. "Goo-good l-luck S-S-Seiyu-sama!" Hinata told him, loudly.
Sasuke and Seiryu faced each other. After a few seconds, Iruka yelled. "Begin!"
As soon as they started, Sasuke charged at Seiryu without thinking twice and tried to land a kick on his face with his right leg, but Seiryu dodge and delivered a sweep kick that landed on his left leg. As soon as Sasuke's leg was off the ground, he stopped himself from falling by putting right hand on the ground and using the impulse to try to kick Seiryu again. Seiryu grabbed his leg and tried to toss him outside of the platform, but Sasuke recovered quickly and landed on the edge of the platform.
He's good. Sasuke realized while he recovered. He's strong and fast, and his Taijutsu is good. Finally, someone worth my time.
Sasuke wasn't the only one that was surprised, several other students were also surprised by Seiryu's skills.
"Yeah! Kick his ass, Seiryu!" Kiba cheered after seeing his new friend almost beat Sasuke. Kiba didn't like Sasuke very much; he considered him an arrogant jerk.
"There you go, Seiryu!" Chōji also cheered while giving him two thumbs up.
Shikamaru only scratched his head, but also gave him a thumbs up.
Hinata just smiled at him.
On the other hand, several of Sasuke's fangirls were cheering for him. A certain blond-haired girl and a pink-haired one were the loudest ones.
"Come on, Sasuke, you can beat him!" Sakura yelled.
"There's no way my Sasuke can lose." Ino also yelled.
"My Sasuke, Ino pig!"
"Keep dreaming, oversized forehead!"
Upon seeing those two fangirls yelling at each other, Seiryu had a large sweat-drop at the back of his head. Jeez, they're cute but so annoying. I hope I don't end up on a team with either of them. Seiryu hoped as he prepared himself for Sasuke's next attack.
Sasuke charged at Seiryu, again, this time, he started to throw several punches and kicks at Seiryu, which he blocked without much difficulty. His attacks are precise and quick, but definitely not as precise and quick as Rock Lee's. Seiryu is evaluated as he keeps blocking his attacks.
Why is he just blocking? Sasuke asked himself as he kept attacking, but all Seiryu did was block. But suddenly, in a split second, Sasuke felt an overwhelming pain in his stomach. It took him a few seconds to realize that Seiryu had punched him in the stomach during one of his attacks.
The moment the Seiryu's fist connected, everyone was shocked by the speed; one second, Sasuke was attacking him, and the other, he was down to one knee with his fist on Sasuke's stomach.
"H-H-Ho-How d-d-di-did y-you…." Sasuke tried to say, but could not form words because of the pain; however, Seiryu could tell what he was trying to say. He quickly got back up on his feet and looked down at Sasuke, who was now keeled over and holding his stomach in pain.
"It wasn't hard, you left your guard open," Seiryu explained, he had just been waiting for an opening to deliver the finishing blow, but he admits he was toying with him a bit. Uchiha Sasuke's Taijutsu was good, but definitely nowhere near Rock Lee's level.
He left the platform, and Mizuki quickly went onto the platform to check Sasuke. While Seiryu was walking off the platform, many students stared at him; many of them could not believe what they just saw, Sasuke, who was at the top of the class, but yet, Seiryu beat him, like he was nothing.
"That was awesome!" Kiba yelled as touched Seiryu's shoulder with Akamaru barking alongside him.
"C-con-congratulations S-S-Seiyu-sama." Hinata stuttered nervously.
"Didn't see that coming," Shikamaru stated.
"Well done, Seiryu," Chōji said.
After his friends were done congratulating him, he heard the other student's comments.
"Did you see that!"
"He just beat Sasuke with a single hit!"
"He's good!"
"He's spectacular!"
"Well, he is a Senju and the son of Tsunade of the Sennin."
Seiryu just kept hearing the comments that he was receiving. He didn't really care about them very much, so he ignored after a little bit. Although, if he had paid just a little more attention to them, he would have noticed that there was now a new fan club being formed out of many former Sasuke fangirls. As a result, the Senju Seiryu fan club was born, spelling trouble for Seiryu.
Iruka was watching Seiryu with nothing short of amazement. Incredible! He beat Sasuke like he was nothing, to be so strong at such a young age. But then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from a member of the Senju Clan.
Meanwhile, Uchiha Sasuke was still feeling a considerable amount of pain from the punch he just received. One punch, he beat me with one punch! How is he so strong? Sasuke wondered in a deep frustration, as he realized that Seiryu was in a superior level of skill than him. So, that was the power of the Senju Clan.
After the Taijutsu test, there was a lunch break, which Seiryu spent with his friends. He mostly asked questions about them. They all told him their hobbies.
Kiba's hobby was to take walks with Akamaru. Kiba also ate with Akamaru and personally prepared Akamaru's food. He also bathed with Akamaru and let Akamaru sleep in his bed with him. He really loves his pet. Can't blame him though, I used to do the same with Tonton.
Shikamaru's hobbies were taking naps and playing shōgi against formidable opponents. I only recently learned shōgi. I'll challenge him once I'm good enough.
Chōji's hobby was buying and eating snacks. Obviously.
Hinata's hobby was pressing flowers. Maybe I should buy her some flowers for her to use.
Unknowingly, they were being watched by Seiryu's new formed fan club. Many of the girls wanted to go over there to break up the group and send them off so they could spent time with 'their Seiryu-kun.' But fortunately for them, the smarter members of the club convinced the others not to do so as it would most likely cause 'their Seiryu-kun' to think badly of them for doing so.
Alongside them, Uchiha Sasuke was also watching him for very different reasons. I need to discover the full extent of his abilities. Sasuke thought; he still couldn't believe that he got defeated by just one punch.
When lunch-time was over, Seiryu, Chōji, Kiba, Shikamaru, and Hinata headed back to the classroom, where the rest of the class was waiting to do the Ninjutsu part of the exam.
For the next two-and-a-half-hours, the students went one by one into a small room next to the classroom, where Iruka and Mizuki had them do the basic Academy Ninjutsu. Where if they were able to do all three, they would have officially passed the exam and become a Genin. But if they failed to do all three, then they would fail and have to repeat the year.
During the course of the two-and-a-half-hours, the students came in and out of the small room. Some came out with headbands on their heads, while others came out with nothing but disappointed faces.
Over time, Seiryu was congratulating his friends, as each of them had succeeded. He fist bumped Kiba, gave a thumbs up for Chōji, gave a handshake to Shikamaru, and hugged Hinata. The hug resulted in Hinata passing out in his arms, which worried him for a second, but she woke up thirty minutes later.
He also noticed many others had succeeded, much to his surprise Ino and Sakura, who, from what Seiryu saw, were probably the biggest fangirls in the whole class, since all they cared about was gaining Sasuke's attention.
Eventually, Seiryu's turn came. After Sasuke came out of the room with a Konoha headband on his head, causing his fangirls to scream and cry out that Sasuke was the greatest. Ironically, Sasuke only had his eyes on Seiryu at that moment. Probably a sore loser.
Seiryu first did a Transformation Technique, turning into a perfect copy of his father.
"G-G-Good l-luck S-S-Seiyu-sama"
"Thanks, Hinata."
Soon enough, Seiryu entered the room where he found Iruka and Mizuki sitting behind a small wooden table, facing him.
"Okay Seiryu, to pass this test, you need to complete all three standard Academy Jutsu: the Transformation Technique, Body Replacement Technique, and Clone Technique. Once you have completed that, you will have passed and officially become a Konoha Ninja," Iruka explained to him, where he just nodded in understanding.
Seiryu first did a Transformation Technique, turning into a perfect copy of his father.
"The Toad Sage?" Mizuki asked in confusion.
"He's the boy's father," Iruka whispered to him; he was informed of that by the hokage.
Mizuki was shocked. What?! He's the son of two of the legendary three ninja? I need to inform Orochimaru of this.He thought as he only informed the part about Seiryu being Tsunade's son.
Seiryu then did a Clone Technique, where he created a perfect copy of himself. Seiryu then did a Clone Technique, where he created a perfect copy of himself.
Then, he dispelled the Clone and did a Body Replacement Technique with the broomstick at the corner of the room behind Iruka and Mizuki.
"Very good, Seiryu, that was perfect," Iruka congratulated with a smile when he gladly handed Seiryu a Konoha headband. He took it and tied it to his head, walking out the room with a smile.
When the class saw Seiryu coming out with his headband on his head, the newly formed Seiryu fan club started to cry and scream out that they knew he could do it and that he was the best. Seiryu just politely nodded his thanks to them and went to sit next to Hinata, who shyly smiled at Seiryu, passing out when Seiryu smiled back at her. Then, his friends congratulated him in the same manner that he did with each of them.
Once everyone was done, Iruka and Mizuki came out of the small room and gave out the scores, where, in the exam, Seiryu got the top score of the class, which Sasuke nearly got as well, but he got a lower score in Taijutsu for being defeated by just one attack. Which meant Seiryu was the Rookie of the Year. For a second, Seiryu thought about refusing it as he was sure that Iruka was only doing that because of his clan, but by what Kiba told him, Sasuke was an arrogant jerk, and Seiryu really shouldn't give him more reasons to be arrogant if that was really the case. So, he just stayed quiet.
Sakura was given the title of top Kunoichi, as she had gotten the highest score on the paper exam and a perfect score in the Ninjutsu, despite getting an average in the throwing and aiming part of the exam and the Taijutsu.
Upon hearing this, Seiryu had to hold back a sigh as the idea of a fangirl, like Sakura, as the top Kunoichi, was absurd.
Finally, Iruka announced that Kiba was the dead last of the class, which made Kiba yell in frustration.
Soon enough, the class fully ended and Iruka and Mizuki bid farewell to them where the students headed out to their homes. Kiba, Chōji, and Shikamaru made their way home to break the news to their parents.
Hinata just stood there; she was waiting for someone to pick her up. Seiryu decided to stay with her to keep her company.
They talked about who they would like to be in a team with, while both hoped to be on the same team, Seiryu couldn't pick which of his friends he would like to be on a team with.
Suddenly, Seiryu thoughts were interrupted by a familiar face. "Hello, Hinata, I'm sorry to keep you waiting— I was delayed with some things." It was the woman he met at the bookstore yesterday, Yūhi Kurenai. "Oh, it's you," she recognized him. "Really, a Senju?" she asked him while folding her arms.
"Sorry, I wanted to delay people knowing about it for as long as I could," he explained, politely bowing to Kurenai. "How do you know Hinata?" he wondered.
"I'm her private tutor. Her father asked to escort her today," she explained. "So, he's the boy that brought you back home yesterday."
Hinata just nodded with a red face as she remembered passing out when Seiryu asked her out.
"Well, since your escort has arrived, I think I'll go now. See you tomorrow in the placements, and thank you, one more time, for the books." After he spoke, Hinata blushed and smiled a little.
After which he Body Flickered away in a whirlwind of leaves, surprising Kurenai and Hinata as well as the rest of the people watching from afar, since many of them did not expect a genin, fresh out of the Academy, to know that Technique.
Meanwhile, in a secluded area of Konoha, Mizuki was having a conversation with the same person that he had spoken with yesterday.
"So... This, Senju Seiryu, is the son of both Tsunade and Jiraiya," he said while fixing his glasses. "I haven't got the chance to inform Orochimaru-sama of the boy's existence yet, but now he really needs to know about this."
"Whatever, I did what Orochimaru asked, I kept him informed of Uchiha Sasuke's status and progress. Now, it's time for me to officially join his ranks." Mizuki stated.
But all that the other person did was laugh as a result.
"What's so funny, Kabuto?" he asked with a frown.
"You will not join Orochimaru's ranks, Mizuki. You outlived your usefulness to him." Kabuto stated.
"What!?" He exclaimed in anger.
"While he does value your work for him as a spy, now that Uchiha Sasuke has graduated, you don't have any other use," Kabuto explained. "You don't have the skill necessary to join our ranks, unless..." Kabuto stopped in the middle.
"Unless what?" Mizuki asked in confusion.
"Orochimaru is trying to decide which one of his subjects should do a special mission for him." Kabuto clarified.
"Whatever this mission is, I can do it. I can get it done." He declared with a lot of conviction.
"If that's the case..."
Seiryu was currently at home doing two tasks at once. While he was doing push ups on the floor, his Shadow Clone was reading a book about the chakra pathway system.
"Six hundred and seventeen, six hundred and eighteen, six hundred and ninetee—" While counting, Seiryu heard a sound coming from the window. When he raised his head to see what it was, he saw that it was an arrow being shot at him. The arrow hit his Shadow clone which made it puff out of existence.
Seiryu quickly stood up from the ground and went for his katana to check who shot the arrow, but when he reached the window, he didn't see anyone. When he turned to see the arrow, he noticed that there was a paper attached to it.
Seiryu picked it up and checked.
Someone is gonna steal from the Hokage. Be at this exact location if you want to stop him.
"What?" Seiryu spoke as he read the paper. There was a location marked on it.
For some reason, Seiryu decided to go to the location marked on the paper someone shot at him with that arrow. It was outside of Konoha in a secluded area on the forest. Although it could be a trap, he was hoping for that to be the case as he could test his skills.
As he got to the location, he noticed no one was there. So, he sat down and waited.
He waited for a few minutes; he was sure the arrow was not a prank or anything.
But after some time, he could hear someone approaching. So, Seiryu decided to hide in one of the trees. Surprisingly, someone did show up, and Seiryu saw that it was none other than Mizuki from the Academy.
Wait, what? He shot the arrow? Seiryu thought, confused. But then, he noticed that Mizuki was in possession of something. He was carrying a scroll on his back, which Seiryu quickly recognized as the Scroll of Seals of Konoha. His mother told him about it when she taught him about the history of their clan. Inside the scroll was a list of extremely powerful Jutsu, and also contained other forbidden Ninjutsu that were created by the other Hokage over the years.
So, it was true! Seiryu concluded as he observed Mizuki, he appeared to be searching for someone.
"I got it. Where are you?" Mizuki inquired.
There's someone else? Seiryu asked himself. But whoever it was, he was sure they were not around.
Seiryu finally decided to come out of hiding and confront Mizuki.
Suddenly, Seiryu jumped off the tree that he was hidden on.
"Finally, what too—" Mizuki spoke before he noticed who he was speaking to. "You! What are you doing here?"
"Chasing an idiot," Seiryu replied with a stoic expression. "I don't know which one is worse, an idiot that thinks that he can use any of the Ninjutsu in that scroll, or the fact that it was so poorly guarded that someone like you could steal it," Seiryu spoke in a mocking tone towards him before drawing his katana from his back.
Mizuki just smirked when he saw Seiryu getting into a sword stance and prepared to fight him, "Listen kid, you may be more skilled than the average genin, but your still only a genin, while I'm a fully trained chunin," Mizuki sneered.
"Then, you're about to be the eleventh fully trained chunin that I ever beat," Seiryu responded with a sinister smile that visibly disturbed Mizuki.
What?!Mizuki thought before he put the scroll aside and prepared to attack.
Mizuki made his first move. He took out and threw several small shurikens at Seiryu, who easily deflected them all. Mizuki then came up from Seiryu's left side to try to stab him with his kunai. Fortunately, Seiryu saw Mizuki coming towards him at the corner of his eye, and he grabbed his right wrist which was holding the kunai with his left hand.
In a split second, Seiryu put an overwhelming amount of pressure on Mizuki's wrist until it completely broke it, and he dropped the kunai as a result. "AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!" Mizuki screamed in agony as he felt the horrible pain of his wrist breaking. But, unfortunately for him, Seiryu threw a left side-kick at his chest that sent him flying into a nearby tree which he passed through, making the tree fall down.
"Never underestimate your opponent," Seiryu told him, but he probably didn't listen.
He then turned around and went to check the scroll. I should probably take this back… but before I do it.Seiryu reached for one of the pockets in his belt in order to get his notepad.
It's a habit that he got from his father, but while his father used his notepad to write down ideas and details 'reserved' for the use of his books. Seiryu used the notepad to write down something else however.
He moved to open the Scroll of Seals and started to read it. "Let's see," he then started to write down the contents of the scroll on his notepad.
Unknowingly to him, someone was watching from afar, Kabuto, the one who tricked Mizuki into this fool's errand, was watching the entire fight from afar. Amazingly, I really need to inform Orochimaru-sama of him. Kabuto thought he was surprised by how Seiryu easily defeated Mizuki as this was all a test from Kabuto in order to check the new Senju heir's abilities.
Seiryu kept writing down the Jutsu on his notepad until he finally found the one that he was hoping for. "Found you... The Flying Thunder God Technique."
