"Are you an Angel?" The Winter Soldier asked, his voice quiet. The girl looked at him, her hazel eyes softly watched him.
"In some ways, I suppose," She replied. The girl picked her way through the room, disarming the guards and zip-tying their arms and legs. Then she turned back to the soldier.
"I give you a choice. You can stay here and figure out a method of escape, or you can come with me." She was offering him something he hadn't had in 70 years. Freedom.
"I need to find the man on the bridge," He replied softly.
"Tomorrow is the launch. The man you speak of will be there, and I can get us into the building. We can take down the helicarriers together, and I'm going to hack my way into the data files."
The Winter Soldier and the small teenage girl left the building, leaving in her BMW. No words were spoken. The fog from brainwashing was slowly starting to lift. They reached a small apartment, and the girl procured a key, entering the complex. Her apartment was small, but inconspicuous. She briefed the Winter Soldier on his last mission.
"We'll enter together then split. You'll go down to the docking bay and place these three bombs. They're not really bombs scientifically speaking, but they're gonna blow up the helicarriers. I have some extra clothes for you."
The Winter Soldier nodded his confirmation. She handed him the clothes, and went into one of the bedrooms. He changed, and she came back out.
"Do you know my name?" The Winter Soldier asked.
"Yes. Your name is James, but your friends call you Bucky," She replied, grabbing a container out of the fridge. "Strawberry?"
He took the fruit from her outstretched hand.
The next day was the launch of project insight. When the council members arrived, Pierce was not there to greet them. Instead, they were escorted by STRIKE Agents to the office.
Natasha Romanoff, underneath her disguise, was worried. Why wasn't Pierce here? There had to be a mistake of some kind. Maria Hill also noticed the top executive missing.
Rumlow was also missing. Without their top leaders, the undercover HYDRA agents were stranded. That's when the intercom buzzed.
"Good morning, S.H.I.E.L.D. I have no doubt now that you have noticed Alexander Pierce's unusual disappearance. He was unfortunately the current leader of HYDRA that was festering inside S.H.I.E.L.D. and had to be incapacitated. Project INSIGHT and STRIKE Teams are also HYDRA. Project INSIGHT will be dismantled within the hour, so please clear out the docking bays and do not launch."
Everyone in the vicinity froze. They didn't know what to do. They didn't know what to say.
