She remembered that day. That fateful day.
He had been on the ground, being kicked by the bullies, dirt being flung in his face. He wasn't even trying to fight back; he was curled up in the fetal position and crying. The bullies hurled all sorts of hateful slurs at him:
"Egg!"
"Snowball!"
"What a freak!"
Being the noble soul she was, she immediately ran to his defense and scared the attackers away. She helped the still crying boy to his feet.
"Are you okay?"
"I dunno…"
"What's your name?"
"Betrayus…"
"Hi, I'm Radia! Wanna walk back to class together?"
From then on she was his only friend, and he would often tell her about all his woes: His mom often ignored him, failing to show him affection and care. His brother was the favorite, viewed as the perfect child. She would always listen and offer comfort.
Years went by. The high school years, the military years… the war. Ugh, the war.
Cities were destroyed, civilians were enslaved, countless yellow ones were slaughtered… and she had helped him do it. All because she was blinded by love for that monster. Time and time again she forced herself to be in denial, telling herself that Betrayus' New World Order would be a good thing.
His actions were completely inexcusable, as were hers.
The green Pac Worlder flinched as she recalled all the screams… cries of people begging for mercy only to be silenced forever.
She also remembered that other night- the night she finally woke up. Betrayus had physically lashed out at her, leaving a deep gash in her face. It was then when Radia finally saw what he really was- a heartless beast. It was so pitiful for her to think he ever possibly returned her feelings, let alone felt a single shred of affection for her at all.
So she left. She joined the other side in vain hopes of stopping him. Shockingly, the other members of the Resistance seemed to accept her, except for the one called Spheria. Of course this was to be expected. She got to meet the pair of yellow orbs and their son… oh by the Overlords, THEIR SON. If only she had known. If she had known what would happen to that boy, she wouldn't have run away from the Resistance's execution.
Speaking of the execution, if the rumors about her twin brother still being alive were true, how could she ever look him in the eye again? After she assisted in Betrayus' unforgivable atrocities?
Radia was pacing back and forth in the HQ of the Neo Resistance, hands tucked behind her back.
Something was very wrong, she could feel it. Usually the night after the weekly meeting that kid would enter and present some sort of plan to take down Betrayus' twisted empire. She was late, or worse never showing up at all. This wasn't right. She wouldn't just forget.
Wait… Radia's hazel eyes widened with fright at a painful thought. Oh no. The plan. Surely Cyli wasn't THAT reckless?! Then again the poor kid HAD volunteered for it… no. Surely the kid wouldn't go as far as to disobey Radia's orders?
Maybe that was the case, maybe it wasn't. But poor Radia still couldn't shake the bad feeling she had in her gut, one that would very soon be proven correct.
