He trudged through the darkness, his feet were like blocks of lead. He stumbled about, searching endlessly for them. The two bright yellow lights just out of reach. The more he tried, the worse it got. He moved slower, and the lights got further away. Then, they were fading away. "N-no! Come back! Don't leave me! I need you! Please!"
Pac awoke with a start. Immediately he was face to face with a very concerned Cyli and Spiral. Apparently Spiral had shaken him awake while Cyli stood by. "You okay dude", said the tall red Pac Worlder.
"No…"
"Radia's cooking some breakfast. Want some?", Spiral said in an apparent attempt to make Pac feel better.
"No…"
Well, that was that. The other two orbs left him, but not without a final concerned glance.
This wasn't the first time he'd dreamt about his parents; they were almost always nightmares. He stood, a bit sore due to sleeping on the cold hard floor.
He went over to another area of the room, and yep. Radia was frying up some eggs. Granted there weren't very many which was understandable. Being a fugitive did probably make food difficult to come by.
Radia was using a portable electric skillet, a very dirty one to boot. But hey, in a situation like this there was no room to be picky. "Morning", she said rather bluntly.
A few awkward moments passed.
"I've called the rest of the Resistance", Radia continued, "they'll be here in a bit."
"And then what", Pac replied.
"Heh, we'll make a plan to take down old Betty with my brother's help. Right Diamitri?"
Mr C nodded, his expression quite stern. "How are we gonna do that?" Pac asked.
"Dunno. But I'm sure we can scrape up somethin'."
Pac gulped, full of fear. Was this REALLY a good idea? It was dangerous to challenge Betrayus already, but to do so without a set plan was even worse.
"Why the glum expression, kid? Come on and eat somethin'. Yer gonna need some energy."
Pac once again declined, his usual ravenous hunger having long left him. He left the area in spite of Radia calling after him. He sat down, looking about the sloppy room as he did so.
It was quite spacious, yet almost completely empty. The only items present were several old dusty crates, the meeting table with some chairs, a whiteboard next to said table, and a little area where Radia apparently slept. It truly was unremarkable, but perhaps that was for the best. If one was to stage a rebellion, they did probably have to be pretty underground about it.
Pac just looked down at the floor, once again filled with the agony he had felt for the past 12 hours…
"Poor kid",Radia said, passing some fried eggs to her brother.
"Why?" Said Mr C.
"Huh?"
"You've been on the run for 15 years, but you only decide to take action NOW?"
"..."
"Well?"
"I don't exactly have a good answer for that I'm afraid. But I guess we're both to blame; you kept that secret from that boy for almost his whole life. And I just sat around like a rock for all those years."
"That kid Cyli? You did a good job recruiting her."
Radia chuckled as she looked over at the Pink Pac Worlder who was happily chatting with Spiral on the other side of the room.
"Kid's got some guts, and a big heart. So does Spiral."
"Radia?"
"Hm?"
"Why? Why did you side with that monster?"
Radia sighed.
"Love makes you blind. In my case, I was blinder than a damn bat."
"Uh bats actually-"
"Heh I know. You always were the smart one."
The siblings shared a good laugh, the first one they'd had in over a decade. To finally laugh, with his own sister to boot! Mr C's laughs quickly became sobs. "Radia", he cried out as he hugged his twin. They embraced each other, tears flowing like a fountain. This was it. He was free from the 15 year long torment. He was filled with something he hadn't felt in a very long time- hope.
BANG BANG BANG!
"It's us", came a faint voice from the other side of the metal door. It was them.
Radia wiped her tears and went over there, opening the door in haste. "Did anyone see you", she said as per protocol.
"Nope."
"Good. Come in, everyone."
All eight Pac Worlders stepped in, the door being shut and locked behind them.
"Now-" Radia tried to say, only for the other members to whisper and point at poor Pac who simply glared at them.
"WHAT'S THAT OVERGROWN LEMON DOING IN HERE", one of the members shouted.
"Ah, rude as always, Skeebo" Radia said with an eyeroll.
