Sam's POV
Anger still boiled inside me at forgetting the stupid law. Lance was destined to be the greatest knight in legend and even though he would become just that, I didn't want him to have to wait. After dinner Lancelot, Merlin, and I were hanging out in our back room. Lance was standing near the window while Merlin was lighting the candles. I watched them as I lay on my stomach, sketching in my journal. My thoughts were so hazed over due to my less than happy mood that I didn't realize I was putting too much pressure on the pencil.
I gasped when it suddenly snapped in two. "Dang it! That's the third one this week," I groaned, laying my head into the pillow. I slowly looked up to see the boys staring at me. I could tell they were trying not to laugh so I moaned, "Go ahead. It's not like you're crushing my soul with your laughter."
"We would never do that," stated Merlin.
I rolled my eyes before asking Lancelot, "Why do you want to be a knight so much? I mean, you've seen how ignorant Arthur and his pals are right?"
Lancelot sighed and looked down at his hands. "When I was a boy, my village was attacked by raiders from the northern plains. They were slaughtered where they stood, my father, my mother. Everyone."
I suddenly felt myself sit up as I stared, tears stinging my eyes as I was enveloped by his story. I could never imagine the pain he went through, losing his entire family as a child. I shuddered at the thought of losing my family to such brutality and then felt someone rubbing my shoulder. I looked up to see Merlin trying to comfort me. I remembered Merlin never met his own father, which means I never met my 'father' either. I glanced back at Lancelot to see he was trying to hold himself together as well.
"I alone escaped. I vowed that day that never again would I be helpless in the face of tyranny. I made sword craft my life. Every waking hour since that day, I devoted to the art of combat, and when I was ready, I set forth for Camelot," exclaimed Lancelot. I could see the passion and desire in his eyes. His dream was to be a knight, just like my dream was to be an artist and travel around the world. However, he sighed and sat down next to me. "And now, it seems, my journey ends. Everything I fought for, wasted."
I touched his hand and rubbed it softly. He looked into my eyes and I hoped that he saw how much I hate to see someone, especially someone like him, have their hearts and dreams broken.
"I am so sorry. I wish there was something we could do," I said softly.
Merlin walked around the room and said in a determined voice, "No, I am not giving up. I give you my word, whatever it takes, I will make this right."
I looked at Merlin and I knew what he was thinking. Before Merlin could leave the room, I grabbed him by the arm and pulled him away from Lance. "Merlin, I know that look. Whatever you're planning, don't do it," I whispered.
"Just trust me. I'm doing this for Lancelot. And don't worry, everything will be all right," Merlin said before making me let go of his arm.
He was going to get us all into so much trouble. As he walked out of the room I heard Lancelot ask behind me, "What was that all about?"
I looked back and said meekly, "Trust me, you don't want to know."
After waiting impatiently for Merlin to return from his self-declared brilliant plan, Lancelot and I decided to retrieve a midnight snack. "Could you pass me the knife? I can cut these apples while you get our plates," asked Lance.
While he sliced his second apple, I placed the silverware on the table and Merlin finally decided to return from his mission. I could see it worked because of the rolled up parchment in his hand and the smile on his face.
Lancelot looked up from his task to see what Merlin was proudly holding. "What's that?"
"Merlin, tell me exactly what you did."
Merlin ignored me and replied to Lancelot, "This is your seal of nobility."
Lance looked confused as he placed his semi-cut apple on the table. "I don't understand."
Merlin unrolled the parchment and declared, "Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Lancelot, Fifth Son of Lord Eldred of Northumbria."
I placed my hand to my head and groaned, "Not that noble family."
Lancelot frowned me, not hearing exactly what I said, and immediately shook his head. "No, Merlin. No."
Merlin dramatically sighed and rolled up the seal. "Oh, right. So you don't want to be a knight, then."
As Merlin turned to leave, Lancelot immediately protested. "Of course I do!"
"Well...the rules don't allow it. Damn the rules! The rules are wrong!"
I slowly picked up an apple as Lancelot was still not convinced. "But it's a lie. It's against everything the knights stand for."
"You have as much right to be a knight as any man. I know it."
I didn't know what came over me, but I smacked the unfinished apple down and walked over to my brother. I aggressively tapped him on the shoulder and ordered, "Merlin, can I talk to you for a minute?" I grabbed his arm and pulled him to the other side of the room. "Look not to be mean or anything… but are you out of your mind? You can't let him lie and say he's a noble. He could be arrested for treason."
Merlin's eyes narrowed and said, "I thought you wanted to help Lancelot and repay him for saving you."
"Of course I do but-"
"Do you want to be the one who doesn't help your friend become a knight?" he asked me with that judgmental wiggle of his eyebrows.
"Obviously not but-"
"Then let me do this. He's our friend," Merlin interrupted for the final time. I sighed and looked down at my shoes. I know the consequences of the episode and knew Lancelot was meant to be a knight, but if Merlin had waited for my help we could've changed the noble family and maybe caused everything else to end up better. No matter what, I didn't want to be the one who stopped him from not achieving his dream at all. I felt Merlin rub my arm and said softly, "It will be ok."
I looked up and slowly nodded my head. "It would've been better if you waited for my help, but all right." He rolled his eyes as we headed back to Lancelot. I smiled and said quietly, "I think you should do it, Lance. It's your dream to be a knight."
Lancelot looked at me as if I had lost it. "But the rules, Sam."
Merlin responded in a determine voice, "We're not breaking the rules. We're bending them, that's all. You get your foot in the door. But after that you will be judged on your merit alone. And if you succeed - if they make you a knight - it'll be because you earned it, noble or not. We can't change the way things are done around here, but you can...if you let us help you."
Lancelot crossed his arms and pondered my brother's words. A few seconds later, he looked up and said, "All right, you have convinced me."
Merlin smiled and handed him the seal. I slowly walked around the future knight and said, "First things first, to be a knight you have to look like a knight. And I'm sorry to say this but those clothes will not cut it." Lancelot frowned as he looked down at his clothing. I smiled as I added, "Lucky for you, I know the best seamstress in Camelot."
"Did I ever tell you are the best friend, Gwen?" I smiled sweetly, but it instantly dropped when Gwen's glare hardened. I gulped and crossed my arms, fingers scratching at my sleeves. I knew she would be really pissed off that I ruined the dress she made me. "Look about the dress-"
"The dress you ruined," she corrected me while crossing her own arms.
"But it was for a good cause… I could have died from an infection if I didn't stop my hands from bleeding."
I felt someone tap my shoulder and Merlin whispered in my ear, "I don't think you're going to win this one."
I looked back to see Gwen was continuing to measure Lancelot's arm. "Look Gwen, I am really sorry about the dress. I'll pay you back for the work you put in, I promise," I said sincerely.
Gwen paused with the measurements and looked back at me. With a small smile, she said, "It's ok, Sam. I forgive you."
I sighed and smiled back. "Thank you, Gwen. I hoped you would understand."
"Of course, and I will think of something for you to repay for the damages."
I gulped at the smirk she gave me and looked back at Merlin. I do not like that. What was she going to make me do? How is she this scary?
Gwen returned her attention to Lancelot and asked, "Could you look straight ahead for me, please?"
Lancelot nodded in reply and stared at me as Gwen wrapped the measuring tape around his head. "This is very kind of you, er..." Lance started to stay, but trailed upon realizing he didn't remember her name.
Gwen wrote the measurement down and said, "Gwen. Short for Guinevere."
Lancelot smiled and finished, "Ah, then thank you, Guinevere."
Gwen blushed and responded quickly, "Don't thank me. Thank Merlin and Sam. They would do anything for anyone. Wouldn't you, Merlin?" I looked at my magical brother, now sitting on Gwen's bed, scoffing off the compliment. I bit my nails to keep from laughing at how awkward he was at flattery. "Although, I heard you saved Sam from a vicious creature. Is that correct?"
I felt my own face turn red as they all stared at me. I shifted uncomfortably, hating that I take attention about as awkwardly as Merlin. Lancelot smiled slightly to cool the flush on my face and replied, "I was just doing what was right. She was worth saving. I must admit she kept a very fast pace beside me."
I rubbed my arm and said meekly, "Only because you kept me beside you, otherwise I'm not that fast. And I'm usually not a damsel in distress."
My skin burned from embarrassment when they all started chuckling to themselves. Great, gotta love how my friends don't believe or agree with me!
"Of course you're not, Sam." Gwen brought her eyes back to Lancelot and timidly asked, "Sorry, can you raise your arms?" Lancelot instantly complied and Gwen slowly wrapped the tape around his chest. "Thank you, sorry."
Watching them, I noticed how both Lancelot and Gwen's cheeks warmed to a shade of rose. This was the moment was the famous couple began to have feelings for each other. I glanced at Merlin and knew by that devious little glint in his eye that he saw the exact same thing.
"I think it's great that Merlin's got you this chance. We need men like you."
Lancelot looked at Gwen with surprise and asked, "You do?"
Gwen looked shocked and almost embarrassed by her words. She suddenly fidgeted with the tape as she stuttered, "Well, not me personally, but you know...Camelot. Camelot needs knights. Not just Arthur and his kind, but ordinary people like you and me."
Lancelot smiled as he said softly, "Well, I'm not a knight yet, my lady."
"And I'm not a lady." Gwen giggled and ran her fingers through her hair. She and Lancelot stared into each other's eyes, before she cleared her throat and abruptly said, "Okay, we're done. Erm... I should have these ready in no time. It was nice to meet you Lancelot."
Gwen raised her hand for Lance to shake. However, Lance gently took her fingers and placed a kiss on her smooth skin. I almost stopped Merlin from walking up behind them and tapping Lance on the shoulder to give them such a sweet moment, but it was time for us to go. I was about to follow the boys when I felt a sharp tug on my arm.
"Hold it right there, Samantha. You are not going anywhere just yet. You still need to help me with the repairs of your dress." I involuntarily gulped at the reprimand in Gwen's voice. It may sound like a simple task, but she was gonna make me pay.
3rd POV
While Sam stayed behind at Gwen's house for her punishment, Merlin and Lancelot walked down the Courtyard Corridor to meet Gaius. Merlin looked over at his friend to find a pensive expression. "You all right, Lancelot?"
He snapped out of his trance and met the young wizard's concerned eye. "Hmm, I am sorry. What did you say?"
Merlin chuckled and replied, "You look like you had something on your mind. If you are worried about going up against Arthur, I wouldn't worry at all."
Lance rubbed the back of his head and answered, "No it's not that. I was just wondering if Sam will be all right."
"Oh, don't worry about her. I am sure Gwen won't make the punishment too severe…" Merlin paused a moment and thought out loud, "At least I hope not."
Lance could not help but chuckle at the comment. "She seems lovely."
That caught Merlin's attention. "Who?"
"Guinevere."
Merlin smiled at the thought of his friend. "Oh, yes. Yes, she is. Very lovely and the best seamstress in Camelot, I promise."
Lancelot looked at his friend and asked nervously, "Are you two...you know?"
When Merlin saw Lancelot try to explain with hand gestures, he couldn't help but laugh. "What, me and Gwen? No, no. Just friends," he said.
Lancelot sighed and asked, "So, she is unattached?"
Merlin stopped his walking, making Lancelot stop as well. Merlin crossed his arms and asked smugly, "Why are you asking? Do you have feeling for her?"
Lancelot's face turned red and said meekly, "Don't be ridiculous, Merlin."
Sam's POV
"One. Two. Three. Four. One. Two. Three. Four."
I looked over to see Arthur teaching the knights their striking poses with their swords. It didn't look so hard. I could do that… I think. I shook my head and continued to help Lancelot with his armor. His colors were orange with a blue shield and red swords on his chest. I must say, helping Gwen create and sew Lancelot's knight outfit looked good. Especially after failing miserably with fixing my own dress. As punishments go, sewing is downright torture, but I have to say after a couple of hours, we created a masterpiece.
Merlin stepped back and examined the knight-to-be. "Well...you certainly look the part."
Gwen smiled at our finished work and said, "Doesn't he just?"
Lance looked nervous as he loosened his collar. "I don't feel it."
I rolled my eyes and lightly slapped his chest. "Oh, shut up. You look great."
I looked back at the Camelot Knights when I heard Arthur announce, "Okay, that'll do for today. Well done."
When Arthur dismissed them, Merlin whispered to Lance, "Here's your chance. Go for it."
Lance looked petrified and did not step forward. Fear of too many things that could go wrong froze him in place. While I understood, I also knew that it would work. For a while. "You'll be fine!" I hissed as I pushed him forward.
He stumbled a bit and looked back at me. I waved my hand, indicating for him to go. Arthur was placing his sword in the weapons rack when he noticed someone walking up to him. A man with dark hair and noble colors he did not recognize from memory.
3rd POV
"I am Lancelot, 5th son of Lord Eldred of Northumbria," said a very timid Lancelot.
Arthur's eyes widened when he realized who he was speaking to. This was the man who saved Sam? Arthur looked at him to inspect Sam's so called savior. His eyes turned to the right to see Gwen, Merlin, and Sam watching them.
"Lance...a lot? That is your name?"
"Yes Sire, it is."
Arthur smirked and replied, "My servant Merlin mentioned you. Said you were a hero to his sister." Arthur's hand held his sword very tightly when Lancelot looked back to see Sam smile. "Got your seal?"
Lancelot nodded his head. He bowed as he presented the fake seal to Arthur. The Prince's eyes glittered as he looked the parchment over. Suddenly, he swung his hand and backhanded Lancelot. The savior was so in shock from the action that he fell and landed hard on his back. Sam gasped and placed a hand over her mouth. However, Lancelot breathed through the pain and kept his eyes on the warrior prince.
Arthur scoffed and he rolled up the seal. "Sluggish reactions. In a battle field you'd be dead by now. Come back when you're ready."
He started to walk away with disappointment. Merlin was wrong. This man cannot be a knight. "I'm ready now, Sire!"
That commanding and confident voice made Arthur stop in his tracks. He slowly turned around to see Lancelot standing, looking determined. "You are, are you?" Lancelot nodded his head. Arthur smiled as a brilliant idea came to him. "Fine. You can start by cleaning out the stables."
Lancelot looked confused as Arthur walked back to the laughing knights. The Prince wants him to… clean the stables? He looked back at his friends to see Gwen smiling, Merlin giving him two thumbs up, and Sam slapping her forehead.
Sam's POV
I was thankful that it was my day that I did not have to go to work in the gardens. I decided to relax in the Physician Chambers. Maybe I can finish my drawing of the castle in my notepad. Of course, I need to visit Morgana later. I promised to help her with her letters and hang out. I still cannot believe she turns evil further in the series. Maybe there is a way to prevent that.
I was shading the outside of my castle in my drawing pad when I heard Gaius said, "I'm sorry about Lancelot. I see you both were upset."
I paused my drawing and slowly looked up. Merlin looked over at me before continuing to help Gaius prepare medicines.
"Oh. You know...that's life. You win some, you lose some," he said.
Gaius looked right at me, but I quickly lowered my head and continue to draw. Maybe he would not notice.
Gaius smiled at us proudly and stated, "You're taking it very well, I have to say. Very mature."
I smiled and said, "Thank you, Gaius." I closed my notepad and stood up. "I have to get ready to meet with Morgana."
As I placed my notepad on the table, the door opened with a bang. I looked up and covered my mouth to try not to laugh. Walking in very slowly and tired was a very dirty Lancelot. He was covered in dirt. I cringed when I smelled horse manure. I felt really bad for him
"How'd it go?" asked my brother with a smile on his face.
Lancelot stopped his sluggish walking and looked at Merlin. He glared at my brother and grunted. Without saying anything else, Lancelot walked right into our chambers. I looked back at Gaius to see he was glaring at us.
Merlin gave our uncle a cheesy smile and explained, "He found work at the stables."
I cleared my throat and said quietly, "I better get going. Don't want to keep Morgana waiting."
As I passed them, I gasped in shock when my collar was grabbed and pulled back. When I stumbled backwards, I looked up to see it was Gaius who help my neckline.
"Why don't you both tell me the truth before I lose my temper?" he said sternly.
"He is working as a stable boy," I said as I tried to get Gaius to release me.
"Merlin, tell me the truth right now!"
Merlin looked at me before clearing his throat. "He's er...trying out for the knights."
I shrieked as Gaius released me and I fell to the ground. I rubbed my throat and glared at my brother.
"Way to keep a secret Merlin." I gulped when I looked up to see Gaius was glaring at me. "Oh, come on Gaius. Lancelot needs to be a knight and we had to do it."
As I slowly stood up, Gaius said sternly to us, "The First Code of Camelot has never been broken for any man. What've you two done?"
Merlin grabbed my hand and said, "Look, it wasn't Sam's fault. I bent the rules a little, but the rules are wrong. They're unfair."
Gaius shook his head with disbelief. "You bent the rules? Using magic?"
"It was nothing, honestly," Merlin insisted. "It was more of a trick than actual magic."
"Your magic is not a toy, Merlin. It's not for you to use or abuse as you see fit."
Merlin sighed and nodded his head. "I know. I know."
"Then why'd you do it?"
Ok, I had enough. I grabbed Gaius' arm and said, "Gaius, I owe Lancelot my life. He saved me from being killed. I am paying for that debt the only way I can by giving him the opportunity he deserves. Merlin was just helping a friend out. If you want to punish me for it, go ahead. However, if you tell Lancelot he cannot be a knight, then you are breaking a kind, noble man's heart. So, what's it going to be?"
Later on that day, after convincing Gaius to keep our knight secret, we had to go back to our jobs. Merlin stayed with Gaius to finish up stacking the medicines before cleaning Arthur's Chambers. Lancelot's next jobs on Arthur's list were sweep the guardhouse, polish the knights shoes, and sharpen their swords. I had to collect the vegetables in the vegetable garden and bring the basket to the cook. After that I was instructed to pull the weeds out of the flower orchard.
As I carried the basket of overflowing greens and veggies, which I had to make sure it does not slip from my fingers, a commotion started. The warning bell starting ringing and I could hear people screaming. Without even thinking, I placed the basket near one of the market stands, making sure none of the food fell out, and I ran to where the turmoil was taking place.
As I sprinted closer, I heard Merlin asking Gaius, "How is she?"
"Gaius, Merlin!" Both men looked up to see me running to them. "Are you all right?"
"Yes Samantha, we are fine," confirmed my uncle.
I looked around to see the damage. Men, women, and children were either burnt, bleeding, or cut up. My heart sang when I saw a mother comforting her crying daughter. The girl's arm was bleeding and her mother's head had a scratch. I heard someone jogging up behind me. I turned to see it was Lancelot.
"What happened to these people?" he asked.
As Gaius examined a woman he replied, "Their village was attacked by a winged monster."
My eyes widen before exchanging looks with Lancelot. We both knew what the creature Gaius was talking about.
The next day was huge, especially for Lancelot. Because of the griffin is getting closer to Camelot, Arthur moved Lancelot's knight challenge earlier. Merlin and I found out the news when Lancelot rushed into our chambers last night and told us that Arthur pushed his challenge the next morning. All the Camelot knights, some servants, Merlin, Gwen, and myself were at the training grounds that day. Arthur and Lancelot were both dressed in their full armour. I reached over and grasped Lance's shoulder. He turned his head and looked into my eyes.
"I want to wish you luck Lance. I know you will kick his butt," I whispered to him.
Lance smiled and chuckled at my comment. We heard someone clear their throat loudly. I looked over to see Arthur's eyes harden, before he straightens himself and started to walk around slowly. Lancelot slowly walked over to Arthur staring at him intensely.
"Well, here we are. Your final challenge. Succeed and you join the elite. Fail and your journey ends here." Wow Arthur, talk about pressure huh? Lancelot looked at me feeling a little bit nervous. I smiled and nodded my head for encouragement. "Lancelot, fifth son of Lord Eldred of Northumbria..." Arthur turned to the timekeeper and nodded his head. The timekeeper turned the hour or minute glass and the sand started to slide down. "Your time starts now."
Both Arthur and Lancelot placed their helmets on their head and took their positions. I could see Gwen was nervous, so I grasped her hand for comfort. She smiled at me before we looked back at the event. The challenge has begun. Swords clashing with each other. Lance swung his sword at Arthur's head, but misses. Gwen gasped and accidently put more pressure on my hand.
"Ouch Gwen, I need that hand," I hissed out.
Gwen realized she was crushing my hand and instantly released it. "Oh, sorry," she said timidly.
The swords continued to strike and connect. Just when I thought this fight would never end, since both boys were evenly matched, out of nowhere Arthur swung his right arm and punches Lance in the face. Lancelot grunts as he fell on his back with his helmet askew. Gwen covered her mouth in shock while Merlin looked disappointed. I however hid a smirk, knowing what was going to happen next. Arthur struck his sword on the ground and removed his helmet. His wet blonde hair stuck to his forehead. He sighed as he looked at the fallen Lancelot and shook his head with dissatisfaction.
"Shame," said Arthur as he bent down to remove Lance's flag from the waist to declare himself the winner.
Lancelot's eyes instantly opened his eyes. He swiped his leg underneath Arthur. Arthur was knocked off his feet and landed on the ground. Lancelot immediately grabbed a sword. Before Arthur could get back up, Lance puts the sword near Arthur's neck.
"Do you submit, Sire?" Lancelot asked with a smirk.
"Yes, Lancelot just kicked Arthur's butt!"
All eyes turned to the person who shouted out that comment… and that person was me! I instantly cover my mouth and my face was red from embarrassment. I did not mean to say that out loud. The guards immediately restrained Lancelot as Arthur got up from the ground. Arthur was furious as he glared at the challenge winner. He grabs his sword and marches right up to Lance.
Arthur looked right at him and commanded, "On your knees!"
The guards forced Lancelot to his knees as Arthur points his sword at Lance's chest. If you think Arthur was going to kill Lancelot, you are dead wrong. That night at the Throne room, Lancelot knelt in front of Uther. I was smiling as I watched my friend finally being an official Knight of Camelot.
"Arise, Sir Lancelot, Knight of Camelot," said Uther.
The whole room applauded and cheered for Lance as he stood up. I was standing next to Morgana and Gwen, since Morgana invited me.
"Who is this man? He seems to have come out of nowhere," Morgana whispered to us.
Gwen smiled at Lancelot before replying, "I know. It's been a bit of a surprise to all of us."
I giggled as I said, "Oh, you have no idea."
As I continued to talk or gossip with the girls, I was oblivious when Uther was talking to Lancelot or when Uther handed one of the lady of the court Lance's seal. We continued the celebration at the Hall of Ceremonies. The noble men and women were mingling, dancing, or feasting. Arthur and Lancelot were chatting while drinking a lot of wine. I shook my head, knowing they will be drunk sooner than later. Merlin was standing next to Gaius and talking about Lancelot and the future.
You would think I might be partying and having a good time, right? Wrong! I am here to make sure that the men's drink never run dry. I was getting tired of refilling the empty cups.
"Sam, come here!"
I rolled my eyes knowing who was calling me. I placed a fake smile on my face and walked to who called me.
"Yes, your highness?" I asked.
Arthur raised his goblet and said, "Sir Lancelot and I need more wine."
"Of course." I poured the wine into his and Lance's goblets. "Is there anything else you need? Would you like a foot rub or would you like a neck message?" I asked sarcastically.
Lancelot tried to hide his smile as he drank his wine. Arthur gave a scoffed before smirking at me. "Actually, if you could message this knot in my shoulder I would appreciate that."
My smile instantly dropped and I glared at the prince. "Sorry, I hear Morgana calling me."
I could hear both Lancelot and Arthur chuckling as I walked up to Morgana. Ugh… men!
3rd POV
Arthur and Lancelot continued to watch Sam and she slammed her jug on the table and talked to Morgana. Gwen walked up to the girls to see what got Sam so frizzled.
Arthur stared at his manservant's sister as he asked Lancelot, "Tell me, do you think her...beautiful?"
While Arthur continued to watch Sam, Lancelot's eyes glazed right at Gwen who patted Sam's shoulder for comfort.
"Yes, Sire. I do," Lancelot replied.
Arthur looked at the newest knight to see he was looking at the girls. Arthur's eyes narrowed before he took a gulp of his wine. Arthur assumed that Lancelot was looking at Sam.
Arthur sighed as he said, "Yeah. I suppose she is."
Sam's POV
After I poured another knight's goblet, I felt someone tap me on my shoulder. I turned around to see it was Merlin.
"Someone could not take their eyes off of you," he whispered in my ear.
"What are you talking about?" I asked.
Merlin pointed to my left. I looked over to see it was Arthur he was pointing too. I scoffed and started to walk to place my jug down.
"Don't be ridiculous Merlin. I made a comment and being my normal self," I said as I continued to walk.
"I overheard he said you were beautiful."
That comment stopped me right in my tracks. Merlin say what now? I rolled my eyes and looked at Merlin. "He was talking about Morgana, not me. Besides, I am not beautiful."
Merlin stared at me like I have lost my mind. Before he could say anything, Arthur banged his hand on the table to get everyone attention.
"Ladies and gentlemen, please join me in a toast to our new recruit." Lancelot stood up and looked at the Prince. Arthur smiled at Lance and declared, "Our new knight of Camelot, Sir Lancelot."
Everyone shouted and cheered for Sir Lancelot. I smiled as I clapped for my friend. I watched as the knights and Merlin raised their goblets to drink more wine. They are not going to feel good in the morning.
The next morning, I woke up early. I got up from my bed and removed the curtain from our small window. I could hear two people groaning from the light.
"Who turned on the sun?" mumbled Merlin as he rolled over on his bed.
"It's morning and I did warn you two to try not to drink so much. Did you two listen to me… no," I said shaking my head.
"I don't remember you telling me that. Why do I not feel so good?" grumbled Lancelot.
"It's called a hangover and I did tell you… four times. Get up right now," I said before walking out of the room.
As I walked into the Physician's Chambers, I saw Gaius pouring liquid into two cups.
"Good morning, Samantha. Are the boys up yet?" asked Gaius.
"Yes, they are and if anyone throws up, I am not cleaning it," I said as I started to eat my breakfast.
I looked up from my eggs when I heard my chamber door opened. I shook my head when I saw both Merlin and Lancelot slowly walking out of the room.
Gaius smiled as he said, "Good morning, gentlemen." He handed both Merlin and Lancelot a fizzing drink. "Don't look at it, don't smell it, just down it in one." As they drank their cups, Lancelot placed his cup down and groaned when he tasted the foul liquid in his mouth. "Better? Good. Can't have you nodding off first day on the job, Lancelot."
Merlin smiled as he teased, "That's Sir Lancelot, if you don't mind."
We laughed at the comment. As I was about to place another egg in my mouth, Gaius's door opened with a bang. Two guards walked right in and headed to Lancelot.
I jumped out of my chair as I said alarmed, "What are you doing?"
"King's orders," replied one of the guards.
They grabbed Lancelot's arms and started to escort him out. Lancelot looked right at me looking nervous and worried.
Merlin's eyes widen as he cried out, "Stop!"
"Let him go," I pleaded.
My heart dropped when the guards led Lancelot out of the room. I looked at Merlin and we were both thinking the same thing. We are in serious trouble.
And there you have it, another chapter done. Again, the next chapter will take some time so please have patience with me. The next update will be my "Red Rose Nightmare" story and then I will be back with "My Magical Wish." Do not forget to favorite, follow, review, and until then…
