Author Note: I know in canon she tried to bring genetics into it but magic will do what magic will do. So Dudley gets to have magical kids. This is just a brief glimpse but if anyone wants to take off with this have at it.

Dudley Dursley sighed as he came into the house he had bought. It was a lot like the one he had grown up in. Located in a modern housing development, with nicely paved lanes, neatly trimmed hedges and pretty little houses all in a row.

He recognized he was not an imaginative man, he was a senior clerk in the transport company he had started 25 years ago as a warehouse worker in. He was about to be promoted to department manager which was a good thing as his son was going to turn 11 tomorrow. He laughed as he recalled randomly another eleventh birthday that was a lot more eventful than this one would be.

As he started to sit in his favorite chair the doorbell rang. As his wife and their son was out visiting her mother since she wouldn't be able to come to the party, having fallen and broken her leg. He got up and moved to the door wondering who it was. He hoped it wasn't someone selling something

When he opened the door the person standing on the other side of the door was one of the last people on the planet he expected to ever see, his cousin Harry Potter. They stood staring at each other for a moment before Harry smiled at him, "Hello Dudley. How are you?"
"Uh okay. Why are you here? Er, I mean what brings you around?"

Laughing lightly Harry licked his lips then said, "Well let's just say the forces of fate love irony."

Dudley got a confused expression briefly before he connected a few dots, "Oh no. A letter?"
Taking a deep breath, "Can I come in?"

Dudley's shoulders drooped before he nodded, "Yeah fine. C'mon."

Harry looked around and smiled. The place was neat and tidy but had a lived in look. There were pictures of Dudley and his family. A very pretty dark haired woman with a daughter who favored her definitely and a slightly older boy who was a good blending of the two of them. He was obviously pretty talented as there were several pictures of him holding awards of various sorts.

"Nice family."

"Yeah Andrea and Henry are great kids. And I don't know what I'd do without Olivia. She is an amazing wife." He sighed then looked at Harry worriedly, "IS he. Are you here for him?" Dudley asked resignedly.

"Well you act like you expect me to take him away. Yes I am here to give him his Hogwart's letter. Amazingly enough you have a wizard for a son. Uncle Vernon will go spare when he finds out."

Dudley looked sad, "Uh he died last year."

Harry sat down, "Oh. What happened?"
Dudley shook his head wryly, "What do you expect. He had a heart attack while terrorizing some waitress for having bright purple hair and a nose ring."

Harry couldn't help himself as he gave a slight chuckle that he tried to cover with a cough. "Well at least he died doing something he loved."
Dudley chuckled darkly too. "Yeah he did."
"So uh. Aunt Petunia?" Harry carefully asked.

"She uh passed in 2020. It was peaceful. They said her heart just stopped."

"Oh. Yeah well. You're taking care of yourself right?"

"Yeah. I got two kids that need me. Eat right, exercise, go to the doctor yearly. Try not to fly off the handle at stupid stuff." He grinned.

"Yeah good idea." Harry nodded.

"So you? Married? Kids?"

Harry smiled and pulled out a wallet showing Dudley the picture of a brown haired woman with three children. Two girls and a boy. The girls identical twins.

"Yeah Hermione is amazing. She is on her third term as Minister for Magic. Daniel James is the boy. He's currently in his 6th year at Hogwarts and the twins are in their third. Ruby Moon and Lily Emma. Although don't let those sweet grins fool you they are hardcore trouble."

"Oh. Speaking of trouble did you guys get that mess you had in school cleaned up?" Dudley frowned.
"Yeah. We took him out, finished school, I became a magic cop with a friend of mine until he got killed on a raid a few years ago. His sister and family didn't blame me but I was the senior officer so I." Harry stopped and swallowed hard. "Fortunately Mione got me to get some help. But I still retired and became a teacher at Hogwarts. I teach defense now so other kids don't have to fear the darkness and be defenseless. I also run an outreach program through the school to orphans. So we don't get another one of him growing up. So yeah we've worked hard to clean up that mess and make sure nothing else happens."

"Well that's good then. Although I remember there being plenty of stuff at the school itself that was pretty unsafe."
"Well we modernized the school itself a lot since then too. Better lighting, pen and paper, moved potions out of the dungeons so we can get better ventilation, better policing of the halls so spell battles and stuff don't happen. Plus the houses are a lot more inclusive and less isolated than before. My buddy Neville is head of Hufflepuff house and he really cracks down on bullies. Lets just say shoveling enough Hippogriff dung to fertilize all of Privet drive really gets the point across." he said with a knowing chuckle.

Dudley agreed then asked, "Okay. Now how much is all of this going to cost me?"

"Well prices are not too bad. We have a tuition payment plan that takes into account parents jobs and such. One reason I came over today was I wanted to talk to you and see if we were going to have any problems." He said pulling a few brochures and a small ornate parchment envelope addressed to Henry Dursley. "Here's a few papers to look over and you can call the number on there. We have a lot better interaction with the muggle world now. Not quite fully integrated yet but its coming along. Maybe by the time the grandkids come along." Harry shrugged.

"Maybe. Imagine how dad would have felt about that." Dudley shook his head with a sigh.

"Hey Dudley. I lost people too. I know how you feel. But life has to go on." He said patting the man on the arm.

"Yeah I know. So can you stay long? Olivia and the kids will be back pretty soon."
"No, I've got to get home and change then meet Mione as the Bulgarian Ambassador will be coming in tonight and wants to take us to the ballet as his daughter is one of the background or something." Harry shook his head.

"Oh. OH hey. One more thing. What about Andrea? Is she going to get one in a couple years?"

"I don't know. The headmaster is the one who knows that, but I can ask her. I used to be her favorite student." He smirked as he stood up.

Dudley stood and walked him to the door. "Okay thanks. We're having the party tomorrow at 6. Bring your family. Maybe its time to bury a lot of the old troubles?"
Harry looked around and then at the tall heavy set man in front of him, "Yeah, we'll be here. I'd like that." He said smiling honestly.

The party had been a big hit. Hermione and Olivia did not exactly hit it off but they did not immediately hate each other. Olivia had been a waitress at a diner near the warehouse Dudley worked at and they eventually started dating. She was a nice girl if not exactly brilliant. Harry's kids though had hit it off with Henry and Andrea. Finding them pretty cool as his daughter Ruby said. When Henry's friends left and Harry was able to explain to him all about the wizarding world and answer what felt like a thousand questions he was tired. Henry was still dancing and excited. So was Andrea as she was down in the book too.

Harry and his family was getting ready to leave when Dudley stopped him, "Harry I went up to the attic and got something out. I was holding on to it as I didn't know how to contact you."

"Oh okay. What is it?" Harry asked.

Dudley pulled a small bright blue and gold bundle out of a bag. He shook it out and it revealed itself to be a baby blanket. "This was wrapped around you when you showed up. Mom never threw it out but she never mentioned it. I found it when I was helping dad go through things at his house and he told me." He held it out to Harry.

Harry took the blanket gingerly, it was fuzzy and smelled lightly of mothballs but he buried his face in it with a slight gasp before giving his cousin a hug. "Thanks Dudley. Thank you."

"I think she cared about you Harry. In her own weird way." he fought back his own sniffles.

Harry shrugged, "I guess. We better get home. Let you get to bed."

"Thank you for having us." Hermione said politely giving them a hug goodnight as she led her husband out to their car. His blanket being folded carefully and lovingly in his lap.

OfficerDonNZ: Thank you. I wanted to stay age appropriate and still show a bit of fun. Using proper terms would definitely be something Hermione would do.

DennisUD: Oh yeah my toes hurt from the tapdancing on that line I did. Hope this one is interesting.
