Lena's POV

Once the ring arrived, I made my way to game night. Pulling out the black velvet box, I let my thumb caress the soft material. Kara is going to love it. Thank goodness we decided to tell everyone at game night. Alex has had a hard enough time keeping it a secret. I'm sure J'onn already knows.

"We've arrived." The car came to a stop. "Mathew is on night shift if you need a ride home."

"Thank you, David." Sliding the ring box back into my pocket, I gathered my things. "Drive home safely and say hello to Peggy for me."

"Yes, Ma'am."

Before I could knock, the delivery person arrived. "Oh, Miss Luthor, good evening."

"Good evening. Let me take some of that." Knocking on the door, I took the to-go bags off of the pizza boxes.

"Thank you. They nearly slid off four times coming up the stairs."

"Oh, goodness." The door opened revealing my chipper fiancée. "Hello, Kara."

"Hey, Lena. Let me take those." Carrying the pizzas into the apartment, she came back with her wallet. "Here you go. I never put the actual tip on the card."

"That's what everyone says. Thank you." Tipping his hat to us, he turned to leave.

Entering the apartment, I greeted everyone before hanging my coat. "Are we doing games or movies tonight?"

"Not sure yet." Alex flipped open a pizza box. "Who wants what? We're waiting on," there was a knock on the door. "I guess they're here."

"Maggie and Space Dad are here." Kara went to open the door. "Hey! Glad you could make it."

The confusion and mild horror on Winn's and James' faces is hilarious. Soon they'll realize this isn't just a game night. "J'onn, Maggie."

"O-Okay. What's going on?" Winn looked between everyone. "Someone is either sick, dying, or being arrested. What happened?"

"Why does it always have to be a bad thing?" Maggie went to grab a beer.

"Let's call it experience," Winn smirked.

"It's nothing bad this time." This wasn't supposed to come up yet. The final guest isn't here. Another knock. Please, let that be her.

"Are we expecting someone else?" Alex questioned, mid bite.

"No…" Kara's voice trailed. Trying to use her X-ray vision, she frowned. "I can't see through the door." Knowing Astra was looking in my direction, I nodded subtly. Opening the door, Kara squealed. "Mom!"

"Mom?" Alex put down her plate and walked towards the door. "Mom!" Waiting her turn, Alex wrapped her mother in a strong embrace. "What are you doing here?"

"I was invited." Both of the sisters were confused.

"Eliza, It's nice to finally meet you in person." I smiled, shaking my future Mother In Law's hand.

"You know this will probably be the last handshake you recieve from me." Eliza's motherly smile caused a pang of pain in my chest.

"I'm slowly getting used to hugs," I joked.

"Thankfully." Kara wrapped her arms around me from behind and placed her chin on my shoulder. "I'd be in trouble if she didn't like my hugs."

"So, okay," Alex brought focus back. "How do the two of you know each other?"

"Lena called last week inviting me. She set everything up." Eliza's gaze moved. "Astra, it's nice to see you again. I'm glad you and Kara were able to reconnect."

"It's good to see you as well."

Eliza's gaze moved to the newest member of our group. "You must be Mon-El, the Daxamite."

"M-Mon-El?" His brow creased. "Who is…?"

"She's safe," Kara offered. "You can be yourself."

Relaxing, he held out his hand. "I am, yes."

"It's nice to meet you. Kara told me about your arrival and how it's been getting acclimated to Earth."

"Kara, Astra, and our friends have been a huge help."

"Yeah. Something is definitely up," James deadpanned. "Can you tell us now?"

Giving in, I sighed. "Fine. I wanted to do this later but certain parties wouldn't leave it alone." I smirked at the two men who cringed. Pulling out the small box from my pocket, I presented it to the younger Super. "Kara Danvers, will you marry me?"

"Yes! Of course," Kara answered. The blonde's smile grew as I slid the ring onto her finger. "It's beautiful."

"I reinforced the silver and the stones so it wouldn't bend or break easily. Alex told me a few stories."

A soft blush tinted the reporter's cheeks. "Thank you for that. Yours hasn't arrived yet. I should get it in the next few days."

"No rush." Before I could say more, Kara's stomach growled. "Let's eat."

Waiting in line, Kara looked towards her mother and sister talking in the living room. "Thank you for flying her in. It means a lot to us that she's included in events like this. I think there was a small part of her that worried once I found out about Astra that I would drift away from her."

"You have such a big heart and care about people too much to do that. Once we have a date set for the wedding, I'll arrange transportation and lodging for her again." I wonder what Cat's reaction will be on Monday when she sees the ring.

"What was that look for?" Kara grinned, placing a slice of pizza on my plate. "Something funny for sure."

"I wonder if I'll be able to hear Cat Grant's reaction from my office balcony on Monday. She's not going to be angry but I know she'll want an exclusive. We are National City's Power Couple after all."

"She will definitely want an interview," Kara laughed.

Once we were all seated, the questions started. Eliza started. "Have you set a date yet? Or started planning?" There's something behind that. Does she know about the string?

"I know it seems like a quick engagement but there's something I never told you…" Kara's voice trailed. I guess not. Taking her hand, I squeezed gently. "Since I was ten, there's been a red string attached to me. On Krypton, it pointed towards the ground. When I landed on Earth, it pointed forward. When Clark and I went to interview Lena, I found the other end of the string."

Eliza is taking this better than expected for another scientist. Time for my half. "I've seen the red string since I was eight. It pointed towards the sky until it shifted downward by forty five degrees when I was eighteen. The day Kara and Clark came to my office, the string became parallel to the ground." I chuckled. "For a split second, I thought it might have been connected to Clark."

"For multiple reasons, I'm glad it was connected to me and not Clark." Kara smiled, entwining our fingers. "Since I was raised around scientists, on both planets, it was a little hard to believe that the Red String Legend was real. I still wondered if fate played into our lives a little bit."

"I wish you would have told me sooner but I can see why you didn't." A warm smile graced the older woman's face. "I'm glad you found each other. I assume the two of you are the only ones who can see the string?"

"Yes," we answered.

"Even after I lost my memory, I was still drawn to Kara. She felt familiar and safe. I fell in love with her a second time before I regained my memories."

"How did you get your memories back?" Winn asked. "You never told us."

Feeling every muscle in Kara tense, I glanced over as the tips of her ears turned pink. "A good shock to my system." Alex and Astra caught on first and then Eliza. The men, except J'onn, were clueless.

"Oh," Mon-El understood. Thankfully, he had enough awareness to not voice it.

"What? What are we missing?" Winn looked around.

"That must've been one hell of a shock," Maggie grinned. "I'm glad you got them back."

Trying to change the subject, I continued. "We want an outdoor fall wedding. Next October or early November. Even as a Luthor, I can't put a wedding together in a month." I paused. "Well, I could. I am a businesswoman but I don't want to let Darth Luthor out unless I have to."

"Damn it, Kara," Maggie laughed. "Your super hearing is going to get me in trouble one day."

"I can't help it!" Kara laughed, covering her face with her hands.

Hours passed and everyone started to wind down. "It was a pleasure to meet you, Lena." Eliza wrapped me in a motherly embrace. "Thank you for letting me be a part of this."

"You're welcome." Leaning back, I smiled. "When you're ready to head home, let me know. I'll book you a ticket."

"Thanks. It'll be nice spending some time with my girls before I head back."

"Car is downstairs." Alex hugged Kara and I quickly. "See you later." Waving, Alex, Maggie, and Eliza left.

Hearing his phone buzz, James stood. "I guess we're all heading out."

After more goodbyes, it was only Astra, Kara, and myself left. The air became serious as we sat in the living room. "Have the two of you discussed the situation?"

"The jammer is on so we can speak freely." I paused, taking Kara's hand in mine. "We have, yes."

"What is your plan?"

"In a few years, I'll become Kryptonian-like. Eventually, I'll step down as CEO or sell off L-Corp when I start to not look my age. After that, I'm sure J'onn will be happy to give me a job at the D.E.O. so I can keep busy. I've thought about this for a while now. I'm not doing this just for Kara. I'm also doing it for myself. At best a human can only do so much before their body breaks down. I want to make Earth a planet that allows humans and aliens to coexist and help create medical breakthroughs with technology that will be created far past my human lifetime." I paused, smirking towards my fiancée. "Also, certain parties gave me a challenge that I can't refuse." I love making Kara blush.

"J'onn and I will definitely welcome you into the D.E.O. when that day comes. I'll get to work on recreating the platinum kryptonite. It may take a few years so I'm glad you decided this sooner rather than later." Astra's gaze turned towards Kara. "How do you feel about this, Little One?"

"Relieved that we've come to a solution. I found my soulmate and I didn't want to lose her. Eventually, even Kryptonians die but at least we'll have a longer life together than if we were both human."

"I lost over two decades with you. I'm glad we'll have a chance to make up for lost time."

"Do we need to tell everyone now or can it wait?" Kara questioned, fighting off a yawn.

"I'll tell J'onn since we'll be using the lab and resources. Beyond him, I don't see why anyone else needs to know at the moment."

I want to be part of this scientific breakthrough. Recreating something from another planet sounds incredible. "If you need any of my equipment, let me know. We can work after everyone leaves for the evening or on weekends when the building is empty."

"I know that look," Astra laughed. "I will keep you updated and ask for assistance when needed."

"Good."

Kara's POV

Monday morning, I brought doughnuts and coffee for everyone. Leaving it in the breakroom, I brought Miss Grant's latte and a danish to her office. "Good morning, Miss Grant." Placing the cup down, I waited for the businesswoman to look up.

"You're overly perky this morning," she muttered. Sorting through the final drafts, the older woman realized I hadn't moved. "Kiera, what are you-," her eyes fell on my ring. Mild irritation turned into surprise. "She finally did it." Getting to her feet, Miss Grant closed her office door. "Sit. Tell me all the details."

"Don't worry. We are going to give you the scoop and opportunity to drop this first."

Relief washed over my boss. "It's appreciated. With a ring like that, we'll need to publish this story, or at least a teaser, soon."

"How about over dinner tonight? Lena was going to take off early to cook."

"What time?"

"Seven." Jotting down Lena's address, I folded the paper and held it out. "I trust this won't leave the office."

"You know me well." Taking the paper, Miss Grant smiled. "Congratulations."

"Thank you."

Miss Grant arrived as I finished setting the table. "I've got it." Opening the door, I was greeted by an expensive bottle of wine. "Oh, thank you. Come in." Stepping to the side, I allowed my boss entrance.

"Thank you. Evening, Lena." She paused, inhaling deeply. "A baker and a chef. It smells delicious."

"Evening, Cat. Dinner should be ready shortly."

"Excellent." Hanging her coat and bag, Miss Grant took out a pen and notepad. "Same rules apply for what you want and don't want in the article."

Drying her hands on a dish towel, Lena chuckled. "And this is why I only trust you and Kara to cover my stories."

"I respect the two of you and I want to report the truth. I do have one request, it can stay out of the article, tell me more about the amnesia. I've always been curious about it."

Glancing towards me, Lena needed grounding. Opening herself up was never easy. Giving her reassurance, I nodded. "Alright. Once we tell you everything that happened, we'll discuss what can be put in the article."

Once we were seated and served, Lena took a steadying breath. "After I was attacked and kidnapped by my mother, she drugged me. Those drugs altered my memory. I didn't know much about the life I made for myself in National City. The only things I knew were who I was and that Kara was important to me. I didn't know who she was or why she was important at first. I was just drawn to her."

"So you woke up in a room full of strangers?"

"Yes. Alex and my doctor told me Kara had been there since I was found." Lena chuckled. "The one time she left my side, I woke up."

"Of course you did," Miss Grant smirked.

"I was so mad at myself," I groaned. This isn't the exact story but it's close enough.

"While I was in the hospital, Kara kept me company as much as she could. Flashes of my life would come and go. Once I was home, more memories would come back."

"What triggered the memories?" Miss Grant took a bite of food. "This tastes amazing."

"Different things. Being in my home, in the office, music, doing things out of muscle memory, and certain things Kara would do. She'd do or say something and it would trigger a memory."

Over the next hour, Lena and I would give more details of the story we decided upon earlier. Miss Grant would jot some notes down but it felt like talking to a friend more than a reporter. It was relaxing. Since Lena cooked, I cleaned as they continued talking in the living room. This would go so much faster if Miss Grant knew I was Supergirl. Thank goodness Lena has a dishwasher.

"I meant to ask earlier, who found you and how? The Luthors are the type who know how to hide." The older woman paused. "No offense to you but…"

That's a question we forgot to talk about. Lena's quick on her feet though. She'll think of something.

"You're right. My family is rather devious. Supergirl found me."

"The Girl of Steel just randomly keeps tabs on you?" There was a knowing touch to the woman's voice.

"No." She laughed. "I was late for a movie night with Kara and our friends. When she couldn't get in touch with me and couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong, she contacted Supergirl. Thankfully, National City's Treasure has super hearing and heard Kara calling for her on nightly patrol."

"You know quite a bit about Supergirl's nightly rounds. Why is that?" Miss Grant questioned skeptically.

"I work late most nights." Coming to join them, I sat beside my future wife. Lena placed a hand above my knee and smiled. "A little less now. I would see The Super fly by on occasion when I was getting some fresh air."

"Fair enough." After writing down a few notes, the topic, thankfully, changed. "Who popped the question?"

I did, technically. "Lena beat me to it. Her ring should be here in the next few days. I was going to ask her at game night with all of our friends there."

"How sweet." Putting the pad away, Miss Grant leaned forward. "I want to see the ring when it comes in."

"Of course, Cat. When we know more details, one of us will let you know. You're invited to come as a guest first and reporter second. We want you there. You're important to Kara."

"I appreciate it. I will RSVP yes as soon as I get the invitation."

We sat around and talked until around ten. At the door, Miss Grant paused and met Lena's gaze. "You've got a good one here. Don't mess it up."

Wrapping an arm around my waist, Lena smiled. "I won't. Goodnight, Cat."

"Goodnight, you two." With that, the businesswoman left.

I waited until my boss was out of the building to fully relax. "Thank goodness you can think quickly."

"There were a few questions I wasn't expecting. She has to know the truth though. There's no way she doesn't."

"J'onn took Supergirl's form and we were in the same room together. She seemed to buy it."

"She lied."

Lena's ring finally arrived. Alex came with me to pick it up while Astra and mom caught up. "How are things with you and Maggie?"

Entering the jewelers, the owner waived as he continued helping another customer. Hesitating, Alex bit her cheek. "I don't know. She's made a few comments about kids that have me worried."

"I know you've always wanted to adopt."

"It's a dealbreaker for me. I really like Maggie. The woman makes my heart race and I love being with her but I don't think I could give up wanting a kid."

"That's understandable. Have you talked to her about it?"

"Not yet. I was going to after mom leaves. I want her opinion on this too."

"She's always been good at giving advice."

"She has."

"Kara! Good. You got my message." Placing a velvet ring box on the counter, Patrick beamed. "I'm really proud of this one."

Opening the box, revealed the sterling silver ring with an emerald stone in the center and two smaller diamonds on either side. "That's gorgeous."

"Wow. That's nice." Alex looked over my shoulder.

"I hope Miss Luthor loves it." I froze. How did he know? "Oh, I assumed since you're wearing the ring she ordered…" He stammered. "I hope I didn't ruin anything."

"No. You didn't." I smiled. "You're right. It's for her."

"Glad I didn't ruin anything."

After paying, Alex and I decided to grab food from a nearby taco truck. "What will you do if Maggie doesn't want kids?"

"I'll have to break up with her." Alex shrugged, taking another bite. "I won't like it but that's something I can't compromise on."

"I understand." Thankfully Lena and I already had the make or break conversation. Glancing towards the red string, I sighed. Since we were destined for each other, all of the big things lined up.

"What about you and Lena? Kids? No kids?" She paused. "Other things. Stone things."

"Platinum."

"Is that the one where she…"

"Yes." I'm so glad we can have these kinds of half conversations and know exactly what the other is saying. "Neither of us want kids of our own. We're open to being awesome aunts though."

"Well good." Balling up the tinfoil, Alex tossed it in a nearby trash can. "I'd even be open to dating someone who already has a kid. Yes, I'd miss a lot of the "firsts" but no diapers. Either way, we'll see what happens in a week or two."

That night, I went to Lena's after work. Arriving a few minutes early, I went inside and set out our dinner. Hearing the lock turn, I smiled seeing my future wife walk in. "Hey, welcome home."

"Hi." Kissing me quickly, Lena saw the table. "Thank you for fixing the leftovers. I'm starving."

"Go change and I'll pour the wine."

"You truly are my hero." Disappearing into the bedroom, Lena called out. "No X-ray vision."

Laughing, I popped the cork. "I promise not to." Warmth filled my chest remembering the first time I was here and Lena went to change. So much has happened since then. We hadn't known each other long and now we're engaged. Everyone who reads CatCo Magazine or pays attention to the tabloids will know about the engagement by tomorrow evening. I'm glad we let Miss Grant publish the story first.

Wrapping her arms around me from behind, Lena let her chin rest on my shoulder. "Nervous about tomorrow?"

"Nervous isn't really the word. More excited than nervous." I love when she holds me like this. "What about you?"

"The same." Kissing my shoulder, Lena took a glass and went towards the table. "Since the turn around is so quick, I don't get my normal sneak peek."

"Miss Grant had me make a pot of coffee before I left. She'll be in the zone until the article is perfect."

"I can't wait to read it."

Xxx

As soon as I got a copy of the magazine, I flew to Lena's office. Landing on the balcony, I tapped the glass door before entering. "Afternoon, Supergirl." Noticing the magazine, she turned on the jammer. "All good?"

"Yup."

Lena chuckled softly. "You wanted to get here as soon as possible."

"I did, yeah." A nervous laugh bubbled up my throat.

Joining me on the couch, Lena chuckled at the cover. "That woman can work wonders with an iPhone camera. You'd never know that this was taken in the living room."

"Yeah. I'm curious to see what candid photos she used." Flipping to the article, I laughed.

National City's Power Couple Makes It Official!

L-Corp's CEO, Lena Luthor, pops the question to her long term girlfriend, Kara Danvers [CatCo Reporter]. The wedding is set to happen next fall and will be the wedding of the century. I got to sit down with these lovely ladies and hear about the wedding to be and their relationship post kidnapping.

The entire three page article told a polished version of what we told Miss Grant the night before. Each picture of Lena gave the reader a peek of the woman behind the Luthor name. Even with a dish towel over her shoulder, shredding meat, Lena looked elegant and at peace.

"She never fails to write an amazing story." Closing the magazine, I let my head rest on Lena's shoulder.

"Indeed." Kissing my hair, Lena relaxed. "She's excellent at what she does."
