1- I'll Show You

She had been plotting for months. Ever since she had escaped from that damned asylum, it wasn't like they were even helping her, they were just keeping her in some straightjacket for her entire stay. The dull monotonous days had driven her mind up and down the walls, the only interesting things that happened were when Zuko visited or she saw her mother. She despised both things happening but they were still her only sources of entertainment.

After her escape, the only thing she could think of was gaining control of the Fire Nation. After a few attempts to usurp Zuko, she realized that there could only be one reason he kept on winning, his friends. If it weren't for that pesky water bender, she would have won that Agni Kai, she would have crushed Zuko, scarred his other eye, and fried him alive.

So, she came to the only reasonable conclusion. She would cripple all water benders. She, along with two followers of Ozai, was headed to the North Pole. Reports of the battle stated that during the attack, 'The moon turned red and the water benders stilled, the waves no longer responding to their commands.' Notes from Zhao's cabin showed proof that the source of the moon turning red was the death of the Moon Spirit, Tue, or whatever its name was. She didn't know how it apparently came back to life, but she would make sure it didn't this time.

Her boots crunched against the ice as she kept trekking. She may not be the Fire Lord, but she still considered herself royalty and knew she deserved to be treated as such. That was why she had her two underlings carrying all the supplies, Hong was carrying the sleeping bags and Zheep was carrying the food. Azula herself was dressed in nothing but the best, she had lost her royal headpiece, letting her wavy hair flow down to the middle of her back, but she still had her royal armor, the blood-red undershirt, and pants along with the gold trimmings on the leather armor that covered her chest and shoulders proudly displayed her status as royalty. She would have preferred different shoes, but due to the disgusting terrain of the North Pole, she had been made to wear some leather boots, the same kind that Zuko's water bender girlfriend had worn.

She showed her teeth to the world as they reached the Spirit Oasis, the supposed location of the Moon Spirit. She threw her black cloak to the floor as her followers gently set down the supplies and did the same with their wool coats.

"This?" She arched a brow and looked down at the small pond, seeing only two fish. "This is what Zhao died for? Some koi? Quite sad re-"

Her first instinct was to turn to the side, but the second she did the water adjusted. The liquid hand that had reached out from the depths of the pond soon had her in its grasp, dragging her down into the depths of the water. She wasn't a fool, she knew better than to breathe in and let the water fill and corrupt her lungs. She trashed as she was dragged deeper into the water, the strain of holding her breath getting to her.

'What are those idiots up there doing? Kill the water bender fools!' As her face reddened and she felt her heartbeat start slowing down, she clenched her jaw even tighter, refusing to gasp for the air her lungs so desperately yelled at her for, until finally, she lost consciousness.

She sputtered and hacked, ejecting seawater and sand from her mouth as she used her arms to push herself up. She was on a beach, a warm one too. That put her in two places, in either the Fire Nation or the Earth Kingdom, neither of which was a good option as she was a wanted fugitive in both. The distinct lack of sunlight on her skin and fueling her chi told her that it was night, which made things easier for her, since nobody would notice her at this time and alert the authorities.

She forced herself to her feet and down the beach, looking around for anything she could use to conceal herself. Even if there was little chance she would be reported, it was still there. Seeing nothing except a weird bag that seemed to function off a drawstring, she shoved her armor in there, leaving her in her soggy underclothes and water-peasant boots.

When she came up from the beach she almost dropped the bag, seeing massive pillars and blocks of concrete sticking out of the ground that had illuminated squares of all colors spread across them. 'These Earth Kingdom architects are odd. Inferior architects for an inferior kingdom I suppose.' She knew now that she was in the earth kingdom, only there could you see the filth this place was. Garbage of all kinds was shoved into alleyways, and the smell of rot and mold assaulted her senses as she traveled down the weird road between the buildings.

She finally reached some sort of town square, but the sight nearly made her jaw drop. She managed to keep her composure though, convincing herself that the technology must be something that the Earth Kingdom had taken from the Fire Nation. Only her great land would be smart enough to make something like this.

There were massive signs, all glowing and changing. Some were connected to the massive buildings, some were connected to posts dug into the ground, and some were small and scattered around. She walked over to the fountain in the middle of the square, seeing a small sign. "What in Agni…" As she caressed the sign, trying to see what it was, the writing changed.

"Wha-" she swept her dark hair out of her face and rubbed her eyes, seeing if what she just saw was real. "Changing signs?" She knew the Fire Nation was made up of geniuses, but this just seemed like magic.

A gasp made its way through her mouth as the sign changed again. "Ok, so touching it changes it."

She spent the next hour or so messing with everything and found something disturbing. According to the sign, the Fire Nation didn't even exist. She had read the "History of Japan" and "History of Heroes" and they mentioned nothing of the Fire Nation, Water Tribes, or even the Earth Kingdom. It seemed like she was reading some story, everything was different than what was clearly reality. There were "quirks" which gave people special abilities, "heroes" who got paid for helping people, and the sheer quality and quantity of technology gave Azula a headache. She looked around, everything was different than the Fire Nation, it really did look like some dystopian world, something straight out of some ludicrous story her uncle would tell.

Azula was no idiot. She was clearly not in the Fire Nation, she was clearly not in any of the nations. Based on the "History" she had thoroughly read, there was a good possibility she was in another world. There had been many myths about "other worlds" in the Fire Nation, but none of them had been taken seriously.

Azula felt her eyes tear up but stopped herself. 'I do not cry, that is weakness. Nothing back in the Fire Nation was of importance to me. I can still gain power here.' With those thoughts grounding her, she set off to find someplace where she could sleep, she would make a plan to grab power in the morning when she was less tired.

"Hey, girlie." That caught her attention and made her whip her head around to the source of the sentence. "C'mere, if you just do something for me," the let licked his lips and let a breathy sigh, "I can pay handsomely."

"Tch. Vile peasant." The sight of the greasy man disgusted her, the fat, balding man had clearly been lurking in the alleys, waiting for some girl to show up. She opted to ignore him, continuing down to a building with no windows, she would dispose of anybody in there and use that as a resting place.

"C'mon, I got like," he grabbed a small leather object, reminiscent of a book, "50,000 yen." Yet again, she walked away, sneering at how disgusting the people in this world were. "Hey!" She felt a hand on her shoulder. "I didn't wanna do this, ya' shoulda' just taken the money doll."

She felt something wet wrap around her neck and growled "A water bender."

The man had been expecting fear, but the pure hatred that came out of the girl's mouth surprised him, causing him to temporarily lose control of his quirk. The ink that had wrapped around her neck fell to the floor, staining Azula's boots.

"You," He looked back up at the girl, and his eyes widened. She no longer looked like the girl that had walked past the alley originally, her confident, almost regal posture had transformed into something demented. Her whole body leaned forward, and her body looked tensed, showing that she was ready to attack. Her golden orbs were burning into him. "Disgusting worm!"

Her arms, which had been held tense at her sides until now, flew towards the man's head. His reflexes saved him, as he used his quirk to make a blob of dark ink slam into the girl's approaching hand. Lucky for him too, as the ink seemed to evaporate on contact with her fist, taking the brunt force of whatever the attack had done.

He couldn't do anything against her leg though. The heel of her now black-stained boot flew in the direction of her head. Not seeing any danger because of the distance between them, he took some more ink from pens he kept handy and prepared to thrash the girl.

Azula had flung her leg at the man in a backward sidekick, perfected by years of training and muscle memory, intent on just getting rid of the man and leaving. The familiar motion sent out a perfect wave of cerulean flames flying at the man, who dropped his ink and attempted to raise his arms in defense. The blazing arc was too fast, however, and it impacted the man, torching his face

Hearing the sizzle of flames hitting her target and the man hunched over, clawing at his face, she sneered and ran at the man.

"Azula." Her eyes widened and she tripped over her own feet, the voice of her mother throwing her off. "You don't want to do this."

Said girl had now recovered, and rose to her feet. "What would you know?" She stomped towards the man, heavily breathing, "You don't know anything about me!" Her slow, distracted trotting turned into a messy run, her legs not completely moving in sync, yet still pushing her forwards. She lit a fire in her palm as she rapidly approached the hunched-over form of her would-be attacker. "I'm just a monster to you!"

"I love you Azula." The blazing palm had never reached the man's head, as it had frozen in place just inches before they could meet. "I do."

"..." Azula stood over the man, jaw quivering as her arms trembled. "RAHH!" The fire extinguished as she slammed her fist into the wall next to her, cracking the brick and leaving a slight indent. Her heavy breathing had turned into full-on gasping for air as she began to feel everything close in on her. "Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!"

Deducing through the silence that her mother had left, she crumpled against the wall and sobbed, letting out all her frustrations and anger. She was angry that her mother had left, angry that her father treated her like her brother, angry that Zuko had beat her, but most of all, she was angry at herself for being weak, for losing control as she had. Letting her mother decide what she did just showed how weak she really was.

"I'm not weak." She rose from the floor and wiped her eyes with the back of her palm, cleaning her face of the tears that stained her pale skin. "I'll show you!" Without hesitation, she thrust her palm in the man's direction, blasting a jet of sapphire flames at him for a few seconds before stopping.

Before her, sat a charred skeleton with remnants of what could be considered flesh clinging to the bones. The man's clothes had been completely disintegrated, as was most of his flesh. She stared at it, before cackling, "See Mother! You can't control me!"

The steady posture she had held on the beach had completely evaporated, now replaced by the unstable posture of somebody who had completely lost their mind. Her cackling was only interrupted by her erratic gasps for air, the joy she got from thwarting her mother's drawing out all other emotions she could feel.

She had tumbled into the dark room still giggling to herself. Her bag made a thud on the ground, the armor clattering around inside as it hit the ground. She lit a flame in her palm, illuminating and bathing the small room she was in with a blue hue. To her left, sat a box with a rounded top, and to her right, was a bar and some stools. She could recognize that, she and Ty Lee had been to some bars before. Even further past the box thing, was a booth, containing a table and cushioned couches on either side of it. As she fell onto the couch and let her drowsiness take over she smirked, 'I'll show you, I'll be stronger than even Father.'

AN: Hey, I don't know how often I'll be updating as I just write multiple things in bursts, but I want to clear up some things about the chapter.

-In this chapter I wanted to highlight Azula's mental instability, thus the mood changes and erraticness. I am not a physcologist however, so I may get some things wrong about Azula's condition. If you actually know something about Azula's mental health that I do not do well describing, please tell me.

-I don't wanna hear anything about Azula stans defending her saying "Azula would never kill someone why did you have her kill that guy?" I love Azula, she is an amazing character, but she would 100% kill someone. She killed Aang, she attacked her uncle, and in the final Agni Kai, she was trying to kill Zuko and Katara.

-Also this won't just be some sappy romance or some shitty thing where Azula just follows Izuku around and doesn't do anything to the story at all. She will change the canon, she will have her own arcs, she will have character growth, and will have a redemption arc because I love Azula redemption arcs and I hate those stories where the main character just exists to be nothing else except somebody that stands next to Izuku or Bakugou all day. That does not mean she will just be automatically accepted by heroes tho.

-The timeline might be confusing so I'm gonna clear it up a bit. There is no set year for MHA so I didn't include one, but Azula is in the year that Izuku takes the entrance exam. It is one month before the exam. Im ignoring the ATLA comics for this so in my timeline, Azula escaped the asylum she was put in after a few months then came into MHA one month before the entrance exam

-I don't like how I made Azula realize she was in another world so I might change it later

ILY all :D
