Heroes to Hunters

Chapter 1

Okay this story is set a bit after the joint training arc. I've seen a wattpad story with Izuku becoming a monster or similar but there are none like this on the . I got more inspired after seeing the Monster Hunter movie and felt that it could be fun. So I decided to do one I had been building for a while. But enough of that. On with the show.

(Izuku POV)

We had all decided to celebrate together in the class 1-A dorms after the joint training exercises. It was all good fun with each of us comparing and discussing how we fought and countered each other. Even Shinso-kun seemed to be having fun with all of us. It was getting late when a few of the teachers came to tell us to head to bed. "Alright as much fun as night escapades can be, it's time for all you heroes in training to go to sleep." Midnight-sensei said as she walked in with All Might, Vlad-sensei, Snipe-sensei, Present Mic-sensei, and Aizawa-sensei.

When a few of the class 1-B students gave their affirmatives, something strange happened. A hole appeared out of nowhere in the middle of the 1-A dorms and started sucking us all into it. Not even the teachers could fight against this strange occurrence. All Might tried to buff up for a few seconds to save some of the students, but it was no use. We were all being pulled into the strange portal. I used what little I understood about my new Blackwhip quirk to grab Kaachan and Uraraka-san as we were pulled into the black abyss (I may be spending too much time with Tokoyami-kun).

I don't know how long all of us felt like we were falling but it felt like forever. It wasn't too long before I passed out. By the time I woke up I knew something was very wrong. I could feel insane amounts of moisture in the air, and the smells and sounds as I was waking up didn't make sense for what I had known. I opened my eyes and I see not the Heights Alliance buildings or any buildings for that matter. We appear to have landed in a large, lush jungle. I sit up and try to get my bearings. I tap into and try to channel One For All throughout my body. But nothing happens. I can't even feel the presence of my quirk other than a bit of a whisper in my mind.

As I'm looking around Kaachan wakes up with Uraraka-san not too far behind. "What the Hell? Where are we?" Kaachan asks he shakes the cobwebs and ache out of his body. Uraraka who has also woken up says, "It looks like we're in a jungle." Before Kaachan can retort about pointing out the obvious I stop him and ask him to try using his quirk. "Don't interrupt me. Why the Hell do I need to show my quirk? You already know what it does."

"Kaachan just humor me okay. Something is off." I say exasperated. He looks about ready to disagree until he notices how serious my face is. He scoffs a bit before putting his hand out in the usual fashion and shouting, "DIE!" But just like with me, nothing happens. "What the Hell?! What's going on?!" He shouts at me. It is after that I ask Uraraka-san to try her quirk as well. She tries to remove her own gravity and mine but again, nothing happens. This terrifies both of them and they start freaking out and trying to activate their quirks a few different ways. I'm guessing this is a huge shock for them. They've lived their entire lives with their quirks and all of the sudden they don't have them.

All the noise, especially Kaachan's ends up attracting a few of our classmates. "Bakugo-san! Is that you?" I hear the stern voice of Ida call out, so I shout to him where we are. He shows up a minute later with a few others from 1-A. At least I think they all are. There is a girl with short red-hair, a cute face, fairly pale skin, and a few freckles on said face. But when I notice Shoji-kun with only two arms instead of the usual six, and Ojiro-kun no longer had his tail, I have a guess as to who that is. "Hagakure-san? Is that you?" I ask the red head, who immediately blushes and says "yeah it's me Midoriya-kun."

That in itself freaks out everyone again. Especially when a few of the others who have shown up admit that they can't use or don't have their quirks anymore. Ojiro-kun is having a bit of a problem himself as his tail is his whole quirk and his clothes had been specially made to accommodate for it. So now he has a big open spot around his butt. He apparently fashioned a few leaves to cover himself but still.

Even Mineta no longer has the orbs on the top of his head. "What in the ever-living Hell is going on? How did we all lose our quirks!" Kaachan shouts as a few more start showing up. By the time most have gathered, there are about ten of us all together. (I'm going with a bullet list since that is easier to understand) Those being:

Izuku Midoriya

Ochaco Uraraka

Katsuki Bakugo

Mezo Shoji

Tsuyu Asui

Toru Hagakure

Tenya Ida

Mashiro Ojiro

Koji Koda

Minoru Mineta

Once the class rep Ida has taken a count for who is all here, I could see he was panicking as well. It seemed like I was the only one who wasn't freaking out a lot. So, I stepped up and just said, "Guys now isn't the time to be freaking out so much. Right now, we don't know where we are, let alone how we got here. We shouldn't be worried about our quirks for right now." They all look at me with confusion on their faces.

So, I continue on with a few of the bigger matters. "For now, I think we need to focus on figuring out where we are and maybe where everyone else is and see if anybody else is around. And who knows? Maybe this thing with our quirks is temporary. It looks like there's a trail of some kind nearby. We should start there." The most of them still have worried looks on their faces, but at least Ida and Uraraka-san seem like they are agreeing with me.

That is when Kaachan puts his two cents in, but not in argument for once. "I really hate to agree with the nerd but he's right. We won't figure anything out just standing around here. For now, we might want to follow his lead." Okay now we all have stunned looks on our faces. Myself included. Kaachan actually agreed with me? When one of the others asks why he agrees with me he snaps back at them of course. But he goes on to say that I'm the only one of us who can think more without their quirk.

"All of us had our quirks since we were little kids. Deku on the other hand hasn't. He only woke one up a little over a year ago. So, if it comes down to a fight, he might be better at thinking without powers. None of us are." At that a few of the others look to each other nodding a bit before saying they'll follow my lead. Had this been a few months ago, I might have freaked out at so much responsibility. But I've changed. And now isn't the time for self-doubt. We all walk toward what I thought looked like an animal or something trail. After that we walk along said trail for a while. Until I hear something rumbling.

My first instinct was to tell Shoji-kun to make a few tentacles to she if he can get a better idea of what is out there. But obviously that isn't possible. "You guys heard, that right? We have get into the trees and hide for a bit. Shoji-kun hold up Mineta and Asui. Ojiro-kun help Hagakure-san and Koda-kun." With a few affirmative nods, we all take to the trees along the trail. That is when we see the beast. It looks like a huge iguana with dreadlocks like hair on its head. That alone would be terrifying. But then another beast appears.

This time it looks like a T-rex with a bunch of hair or feathers around its neck. And the T-rex attacks the iguana beast, thrashing it about after biting its neck. We can tell the fight is over when we hear a sickening crunch and see the iguana go limp. Unfortunately, such a gruesome sight scares a few of us to the point they faint. Mineta and Koda are the main ones at first. Ojiro-kun and Shoji-kun are ready and make sure they don't make a sound.

But then Uraraka-san passes out next and no one is ready to catch her. I try to grab her but it's too late. She falls out onto the path and I unfortunately followed her. The T-rex turns to look at us. I'm of course terrified. But now isn't the time to worry about myself. I grab Uraraka-san and start running. The others soon follow, with Ida carrying Koda and Shoji carrying Mineta. The T-rex is of course running after us as well. "We need to split up a bit! The path is widening up ahead! There might be a few more places we can hide!" Everyone who is conscious gives a quick affirmative.

There is a bit of a slope down to an area where I think we might be safe, and we all manage to make it there. A few take to a more open tree line and a large fallen log to hide. It is there, we also see some other beasts that look like herbivore dinosaurs nearby. Then I notice a strange set of rocks wrapped in vines. I don't know why but something tells me I can use that. "Kaachan! Take Uraraka-san! I've got an idea!" While he shouts at me to not give him orders, he still does it and takes the unconscious Uraraka.

I look around to find whatever I can find to distract the T-rex. I grab a fruit or nut that is on the ground and throw it at the beast. What surprises me is that the nut exploded a bit after hitting the T-rex and seemed to pelt him with sharp seeds. But that isn't the important part right now. The T-rex is now solely focused on me. It looks like it is getting ready to charge so I stand ready. It looks like it takes a step back, then it leaps through the air. Terrifying as it is, I manage to leap to the side in time. The beast crashes through the rock and is entangled in the vines. "That probably won't hold it for long! We need to get out of here!"

"Thanks for that kid. I've been looking for that beast." I hear a feminine voice call out before I see a woman clad in armor rush past me and strike the T-rex multiple times with a spear like weapon. There is also a huge insect flying around it and striking a few places as well. I'm a bit dumbfounded by what I'm seeing but the others snap me out of it. "Who is that? A hero? She's nuts trying to take that thing on alone." "Enough! You heard Midoriya we need to get out of here. Or at least out of the way enough that whoever that is can scare that thing off." Ida says while still carrying Koda. We find a better hiding place along the tree line of the clearing.

By the time we do, the T-rex has broken free from the vines, but it looks very injured. It seems to be limping a bit and has some deep gashes along its body. It is at that point that a pair of fins open along the sides of the beast, and it opens its mouth. All of the sudden a stream of fire burst from the beast's mouth. We all think that the woman who helped us is dead, until Mineta says to look up.

She is practically flying and seems to kick off the air right on top of the T-rex. She lands on it she proceeds to start stabbing and cutting the beast with a large knife she had. After a few of those attacks, she unsheathes her spear weapon and cutting the beast more and more. Culminating with a big spinning slash that cuts off the T-rex's tail. "Holy Hell! Whoever that chick is she's a damn good fighter." Kaachan says in amazement.

With its tail cut off, the T-rex looks like it is trying to run (or rather limp) away. But all of a sudden, she starts firing off something from a slingshot looking device on her arm. Whatever it is she is firing it sticks to the T-rex and shortly after explodes. This is enough to knock the T-rex down a bit to where the woman can catch up. She unleashes another barrage of attacks from her spear, as well as some more shots from her slingshot. It isn't long before the beast falls.

"You kids can come out now. It's at least a bit safer." The woman said while seemingly sending up a flare. She also started cutting into the T-rex for some reason. Ida was the first to speak up with, "I must thank you miss pro hero! Your handling of that beast was incredible. If you do not mind, could you tell us your hero name? And maybe why your quirk works?" The woman in armor just looks up at us with a puzzled expression, before asking, "What's a quirk? And what do you mean pro hero? Let alone hero name?"

All of us are shocked but I'm not as surprised. So I speak up next. "Umm let's put some of that aside for now. Can you tell us where we are and who you are? No hero or anything like that. Just your name?" "Ok no problem. My name is Alsiya. I'm a hunter with the Research Commission. As for where you are, this is the Ancient Forest in the new world." None of us have heard of any of the things she is talking about. But she decides to explain or rather put our minds at ease for now.

"Don't worry. We'll get you out of here. As well as this kill of mine. The parts will be extra helpful for a few things." "We. What do you mean we?" Mineta asks when all of the sudden a large wagon and a group of people with similar armor and weapons to Alsiya-san come into the clearing. "Yo Alsiya! Good work with the Anjath. So, who are these kids?" a large man with what appear to be elf ears, dark skin, and a large gun like weapon comes up to talk.

"Hey Sig. Not sure exactly. These kids came out of nowhere and I'm guessing were being chased by the Anjath. They asked a bunch of weird questions. Like asking for a hero name and what not." The named Sig responds with, "Huh, sounds like the two guys we found earlier. The one guy doesn't look too good though. He looks like a skeleton."

At that I perk up a bit and ask Sig, "does the skeleton one have blonde hair and blue eyes? And the other person he was with. Were they a woman or a man?" Sig seems taken aback by the forcefulness of my questions but responds with a slightly jovial, "Easy there cherry. They were with another man. Shaggy black hair, and a weird looking scarf. I take it you know them?"

With that, myself and my fellow students breathe a bit of a sigh of relief before Ida says, "Indeed. Those are two of our teachers from UA. Perhaps you've heard of it and them? All Might and Eraserhead? Does that ring a bell?" "I'm betting it won't Ida. I don't think we are in our world anymore." At the mention of that and the two I'm guessing hunters in front of us looking confused, my fellow students begin panicking.

(no POV)

"I'm thinking you are probably right there boy. I've never heard of any of the things you've mentioned. Like I said though; we'll get you guys out of here and take all of you back to Astrea. You can rest and regroup there." Alsiya says. But when that is said Izuku comes in with, "Wait! There are more of us who are stuck here. And they are probably in these wild areas as well. And if they don't have their powers, they're all gonna be in serious danger." At that Sig and Alsiya look at each other before nodding and then Sig calls out to another hunter.

Alsiya then asks the kids to give them a description of all of their classmates. Izuku does but warns that some of them may not look like he described anymore. "Some of us may not look like our description because they might have changed when they wound up here. Hagakure-san for example with completely invisible. We had never seen her face before today." At that the hunter Sig had called over speaks up, "Well that's stupid. Why would you want something like that? Never being able to be seen. What is the point to even living like?"

"Sorry about him. This is Jaeger. He a pretty capable hunter himself. We'll go out and look for some of the others of your group who were lost." Sig says in a confident and jovial matter. The students on the other hand look down a bit at what Jaeger had said. For some of them they realized that he wasn't wrong. Toru had often put up a bubbly front and actions given no one could ever see her face. Others like Shoji and Asui had gotten used to funny looks sent their way for their appearances and quirks.

But now they had none of that. "We'll all meet up later in Astrea. Jaeger can you get in contact with another hunter in the Wildspire Wastes?" Jaeger who had a large shield and a spear like weapon nodded. "I'll get in contact when I land. We'll both check different parts of the Wastes." Alsiya nodded and said to the kids, "Come on. Let's get you kids out of the jungle." With that Sig went to check the rest of the Ancient Forest. While Jaeger whistled and called a Mernos to take him to the Wildspire Wastes. The student from UA however had no idea what awaited them next.

Well that is done. Some of this will have some other issues that the UA students and staff will all have to deal with. And a different kind of struggle that they never would have thought about. Also they may learn skills that can help them in the long run.
