"Do you plan sitting in the office all night?"

Yes, Saphira planned to do that. That was her job. She would only go for a walk to stretch her legs, but she really did not want to. She was nervous about running into one of the animatronics in the pizzaplex, and especially that daycare attendant. Clowns were not a favorite of hers, and having one in the facility was not great. The only one who did not seem like he will bother her was Music Man. She did manage to find him after scrolling through the cameras, and he was sleeping on the stage. And he was massive! He was like a giant spider with hands at the end of the limbs, his face had a huge smile with piano teeth and behind the teeth looked like a screen that appeared to be constantly scrolling. And his eyes were big, round and dark, luckily he would stay there and Saphira was well and truly okay with that.

"Is there anything else I am supposed to do Freddy?" Saphira asked, stretching her arms back with a deep sigh. "I'm not exactly thrilled about walking around this place yet, so I am taking it slow." She glanced at the time, it was nearly three in the morning and the technicians would be leaving soon. She was starting to feel tired and stood up to get a coffee from the machine. "I am not bored or anything."

"I guess I was just curious. Night guards are meant to walk through the building…but I understand your reasoning Saphira. Maybe…" He paused for a moment to think, Freddy wanted to try and help Saphira ease into the facility in anyway he could. "I don't know if it'll work actually."

"Well, spill it out Freddy," Saphira said, glancing at her watch to make sure it was still connected to Freddy. "You won't know my answer until you ask me the question." She sniffed loudly as the warm aroma of coffee filled the air. "Mmm…my last pick-me-up for the night."

"I suppose you are referring to coffee right? I am aware humans drink that to make themselves more awake. I am not sure how or why it does that, but I will never have the pleasure of smelling or tasting it." Saphira did not know if that was true since Chica eats garbage, but she decided not to comment on it. "As for my idea…maybe I could walk with you. This place is easy to get lost in if you do not know you way."

"Uhhhh…what? You want to walk with me?" Saphira shakes her head and picked up her cup as the coffee machine finished filling it and placed the cap on it. "That probably would be a bad idea right now." She sipped her coffee and sat back down. "Perhaps when I feel more comfortable…but I can't really promise when that would happen."

"That is what I thought. But I am glad you will consider it when you are not as fearful of us like you are now. Heh!" She raised an eyebrow when he laughed suddenly. It sounded like he had another idea, and she was curious. "Maybe you should pick out one of the plushies of each of us, would that help?"

Saphira could not help but burst into fits of laughter. She appreciated his efforts in trying to help her ease her fear, but a plush toy was not going to cut it. It was a nice idea, it probably works with kids in a way, but she was definitely not a kid. She was a young woman. Freddy said nothing and he might be happy he managed to make her laugh.

"Oh Freddy…I am sorry for laughing. But…I am afraid that will not work." She glanced at the cameras when she noticed movement from one of the staff rooms near Parts and Service. The technicians had changed out of their lab coats into casual clothing. "Oh! Looks like the technicians are about to head out. Cliff said he would let me know."

"Oh yeah, it is three am right now, their schedules finish right now. I will talk to you after they leave, they like to come by Rockstar Row to say their farewell. It's kind of a tradition here for them." He chuckled slightly before the connection cuts off.

Saphira was a little envious that the technicians were able to go to the animatronics and speak with them like they were normal people. But at the same time, she still did not understand why they were treated as such. She had been explained a lot about their complex AI system, but she still could not wrap her head around the fact they were robots and were capable of thinking like a human. She sipped from her cup again, she looked at the cameras in Rockstar Row to see the technicians going into the rooms to farewell the animatronics. She hummed and wondered when she would have the confidence to do that. When her shift ends at six, she did not know if she would even do that.

"Alright Saphira, we have just finished now," Cliffton said through the Fazwatch and yawned loudly through the speaker. Saphira chuckled a little as she understood that he was tired. "We're just saying our farewell to the animatronics until we return later tonight. Freddy seems very happy right now, I assume he is talking with you through the Fazwatch."

"Yeah, he figured it was an easier way for me to get comfortable around them. Well, at least him, the others haven't really reached out." She glanced at the door for a moment and smiled. "Except, Chica brought me a piece of chocolate cake and practiced knocking so I don't get scared when she stops by."

"They really like you Saphira," Cliffston said cheerfully, yawning again suddenly. "Ooh! Sorry, I don't mean to yawn this much! Ha, ha, but they seriously like you. Don't worry, Monty likes you too, he just has his own way of showing it. Darren is going to be thrilled you are going to be here for a long time. Most night guards last only five nights before they leave."

"Why? Is it because they don't like the animatronics?" Saphira asked curiously, surprised that most night guards do not even do more than a single week here at the pizzaplex.

"Yes, and also, how they treated the animatronics is the other reason. Although, one guard left after he pulled the heads off twenty cleaning bots on his second night, that is not acceptable. Those bots had to be scrapped because their programming was damaged in the process." What? They scrap bots because they can't be reprogrammed after being damaged? That sounded rather strange. "Yeah, the bots are rather sensitive. No idea why they are designed like that, but they do a good job at the facility."

"Riiight…well, at least you know I'll never do that. I don't think I want a lawsuit on me from property damage." She chuckled a little, even though it was true. There was no way Saphira would deliberately damage something in this facility. It would be very bad for her. "But that is interesting that is the main reason people leave. Does that mean I'll be asked to leave if I do not overcome my fear by the end of the week?"

"No, no, of course not! You are not the first person to be afraid of them. You should have seen Darren when he first worked here, it took him months to get over the fear, but he still tries not to get close to the animatronics. I think he's just used to their presence. You will too in due time. And what Freddy is doing is not a bad idea at all. I hope the others decide to do it as well. Anyway, we better go. I need my beauty sleep. I hope the last three hours of your shift will not be too boring. I will see you tomorrow night."

"Okay, sleep well," Saphira said before the connection is cut off and she was left alone again.

She drank another mouthful of coffee and scrolled through the cameras again just to check all the general areas. So far, there was no wrong movement. Once the technicians leave though, the lights go out suddenly and she was surprised as it should have gone out ten minutes before the hour. However, she heard the sound of squeaky metal right outside her door, and a creepy, clown laugh.

"I know you're in there," Came the voice, making Saphira shudder and her heart race. "Come out, come out and come play with me! I hear the others seem to like you, I am the one who decides that around here."

Saphira heard his fingers tapping on the door and she stood up to run over and lock it, glancing at the power light by the door to see it was full for now. "Get out of here Moon, I have enough to deal with right now and I don't need you to add to it." Saphira hoped her stern voice would deter the animatronic, but it did not seem too.

He laughed again. "Oh that is a shame! I was looking forward to meeting you. As they say, bad children must be punished!"

"I ain't no child!" Saphira snapped aggressively, she was feeling extremely anxious. She looks at her Fazwatch to connect with Freddy. "Freddy! Moondrop is right outside my door! How do I make him leave?"

"Oohh no, he's trying to scare you, hmm, I'm done with my recharge and the lights are not on. I'll make my way to you now. Moon likes to scare the night guards, and I know it will be worse with you. The door should keep him out, do not worry. I will deal with him."

Freddy's voice was so reassuring! She could not help but be happy he would come and deal with Moon, but that scrapping on the door made her shudder. "Let me in, and we can have a slumber party! You should not be alone in this place!"

"Moon, I am ordering you to return to the daycare!" Saphira said sternly, glaring at the door. "Why are the lights out for this long?!"

"No one told you I love the darkness did they? He, he, he, it's my playground and I can do what I please! Let me in, I'll make a nice, strong coffee for you while you are curled in the corner of the room." That is so creepy! Saphira shuddered, this animatronic is persistant. "Come now, don't be shy!"

"Oh fuck off Moon!" Saphira growled loudly, placing her hands on her forehead. "Creepy ass clown!"

"Bad words, bad words, you must be punished!" Moon suddenly yelled in alarm, although he sounded extremely joyful despite that. "You must be punished!" She gasped when he slammed his hands on the door. "Let me in!"

"MOON! What are you doing?!" Freddy's voice booms outside the office. "Leave Saphira alone!"

"Oh, Freddy, good you are here," Moon said in a sickly, sweet voice and chuckled coldly. "This night guard said bad words, she must be punished! Open the door and let me in!"

Saphira was holding her breath when she heard the sound of metal being grabbed and thrown away from the door. "She can say whatever words she wants to, she is not a child! Reactivating the light system now!" She hears the lights turning on and Saphira was relieved. "Go back to the daycare please! And Sun, try to keep yourself locked up so Moon does not try and escape."

"Sorry Freddy…you know that side of me, I hate it and I am scared of it too." Sun's voice sounded slightly different to Moon, it was higher pitched and more friendly. "Ohh! I hate when I never make a good impression on the night guard!"

"Saphira, he's going back to the daycare. Sorry, the daycare attendant can sometimes control the lights and Moondrop tends to do it often." She hears him shuffling closer to the door and stopping outside. "Are you okay? I hope you do not need to go to the first aid, but I will take you to one if you do."

Saphira breathed deeply and stood up, walking over to the door to unlock it. "I am okay…I like clowns a lot less than you and a combination of a clown and animatronic is kind of a nightmare for me." She unlocked the door and opened it. "WAAHH!" She jumped back when she saw Freddy standing right outside the door, his eyes sadden when she jumped back even though she should have expected to see him there. "Urgh! I need to stop getting so afraid of you!"

"You will. People don't get comfortable with us straight away. We are larger than most of you, so I understand." Freddy smiled at Saphira and she breathed deeply as she glanced at him. "And from what I am seeing, it has already improved." She looked at him in surprise and frowned, not understanding what he meant by that. "I am curious about something about you though…ummm…is it okay if I ask?"

What? He has a question about her he wanted to ask, and he needed permission to ask, now that as interesting. And that really peaked her curiosity. "Okay, um, what did you want to know about me?"

"Is it rare for humans to have green eyes?" Saphira widened her eyes in surprise and placed fingers underneath her right eye, wondering if this was the first time he's met someone with green eyes. "I don't recall seeing a human with green eyes. Unless I have overlooked them unintentionally through interactions, but most humans have blue, brown or hazel as far as I know. But green? I have never seen that."

"Uhhh…well, it is not as common as the other colours true…" She suddenly felt shy as Freddy asking her about her eyes was unusual to her, but the fact they seemed to interest him was a surprise. "It's more rare someone with black hair and green eyes to exist…I don't know where I inherited it honestly."

"Well I think that makes you a very special, super star," Freddy said and tilts his head slightly as Saphira turned away from him, he noticed she seemed to be shy and was covering her eyes slightly. "You do not need to feel shame about them Saphira, I think you should be very proud."

"I…I…why do my eyes intrigue you anyway Freddy?" Saphira questioned, not glancing at Freddy as she felt awkward looking at him directly right now. "And you only mention it now instead of earlier."

"I did not want to seem impolite Saphira, especially in front of your coworkers. And…" He paused for a moment and hummed as he thought about answering why her eyes intrigued him. "I do not know. Your eyes sparkled underneath the lights in Parts and Service, and I thought my systems were playing up. But I now realize your eyes are special. I can't quite explain why."

Saphira turned her head slightly to look at Freddy. He was observing every little thing about her, she herself did not know how to feel. But as Freddy seemed to understand why he was intrigued by her eyes told her he was not used to that feeling. "I…I don't remember anyone really calling me special in my life. If anything, they used to tell me how ugly I am."

"Ugly?" Freddy was extremely shocked that someone would even tell Saphira that. "Why would they tell you that? I understand Roxy can say things she does not truly mean, but I do not think you are ugly at all."

She sighed deeply and looked down at the floor. "Freddy…my life has never been great. It improved a bit when I fled my parent's home…and when I went to school…I never had any friends because people used to tell me how ugly I was. I finished high school with high grades in a different city because I was able to turn over a new leaf…but people still avoided me. That is why black suits me well I suppose."

Freddy wanted to hug Saphira to let her know she had friends. But he knew she would flee from him, the fact she was talking to him without trembling said to him she trusted him the most. "I am truly sorry Saphira…I really am. You have friends here…we might not be humans, but we make better friends to humans than humans are to each other."

She nodded in agreement and smiled slightly. "You are correct…that is why I want to get a dog. At least they're loyal and are always happy to see you even if you just leave for a second. But I can't afford one right now."

"Dogs are great, we have seen service dogs many times here. It is great humans have an animal that is such a great companion to them." Saphira looked at him, wondering how the dogs would interact with the huge animatronics. "Although, most of the dogs would prefer to drag their humans out of the pizzaplex than stay here. There are not many dogs who like us. So…you know, dogs and humans can be afraid of us."

"Yeah, well, you can't really blame them." Saphira chuckled a little and Freddy took a step forward. She gasped and stepped back, grimacing as the sudden movement had startled her. He stepped back as he realized he had maybe pushed it a bit for the night. "Sorry…I am here talking to you casually, and you still scare me when you move…" She shakes her head and looked at from him. "Do you mind going back to your room? I…I kind of need time alone."

Freddy was saddened, there was a lot of progress that had been made tonight and he was happy he got this far, but she was still scared. "Very well. Shall I stay in touch with the Fazwatch? I have a lot more to chat to you about."

"Maybe on my next shift Freddy…or unless Moon decides to freak me out again…but I don't want to use you like that. That would be foolish." She bites her lip as she realized she was treating him as though he was human. Still, she had to remind herself he was a robot, if she asked him for his help he will do it. "But don't feel like I don't like you Freddy…I think I just need the time to unwind from dealing with bots. That is all."

"Very well. I understand, I will look forward to seeing you on your next shift. But I also hope to see you before you leave. You might not be the technicians, but I definitely want to see you before you leave." Freddy took a few steps back and turned his body slightly. "We will be in our rooms behind glass, so you have nothing to be afraid of."

She definitely still had something to be afraid of. Glass was not necessarily strong, but she assumed the glass used for their windows was very strong. That still might not bring her comfort considering they were very strong. But…she will think on going down to say her farewell. After all, she might as well make it part of her routine.

"I will think about it Freddy. I have a couple more hours to go to think on it." She stepped towards the door cautiously as he walked away. "But I will at least let you all know even if I do not go to Rockstar Row."

Freddy did not say anything else as he walked away. She was relieved she was left alone and closed the door, hoping for nore more surprises now that it was nearing the end of her shift. She finished her coffee and relaxed in her chair, spending time on her phone and listening to music. The last couple hours seem to go by quickly though as she did not pay much attention to the time, and she was thinking about going down to say farewell to the animatronics. Once it was ten minutes to six in the morning, Saphira rubbed her eyes and stretched, arching her back to try and get rid of some of the stiffness she was feeling.

"Alright guys," Saphira said through her Fazwatch to all the animatronics. "I will be heading home shortly. I will be back tonight again sharp, so you won't have to miss me for very long."

"Are you coming to Rockstar Row to give a proper farewell?" Chica asked in her usual, cheerful tone. "I just managed to clean off my beak after raiding the main kitchen, I am all cleaned up for the day." She chuckled as she was impressed with her work.

"I guess I will…" Saphira responded, though it was not a very confident response at all. "I am just gathering my things." She yawned suddenly and realized how tired she was. "Oof! It has been a long day."

"I am sure you get the rest you need," Freddy said to her confidently. "I look forward to seeing you before you leave. May I recommend that you pick up something from the Bakery before you leave? Complimentary food for staff ends at six am, and you might find yourself a bit hungry."

That was true, she was hungry, but she would have something when she got home. "Thanks for the thought Freddy. But there is something in my fridge at home that I want to eat so I will have that."

She hears him chuckle through the radio as she gathered her items. She thought about changing into her casual wear, but she really did not feel like it. She only needed her jacket if it was cold outside. Once she had finished gathering her things and made sure the office was clean, she walked out onto the atrium floor and across to the otherside where the door leading to Rockstar Row was. She stopped when she was outside the door, hesitating a little as she worried she would see the animatronics right behind the door. But when she opened it, she was relieved she did not see anyone behind it. She stepped into the dark hallway and glanced at a few of the cases as she walked by them. She gasped when she heard tapping on the glass and looked to her right to see Foxy waving to her.

"Have a good sleep lass, argh! I will be 'ere with me hook and piano," He said through the Fazwatch enthusiastically. "And we might even 'ave a party!"

Saphira chuckled and shakes her head, no way would she throw a party in a place that was her workplace. She passed by Bonnie's room next, he waved his fingers at her and winked at her, she waved back at him and continued to walk. She glanced to her left to see a cupcake on a single stand. She walked over to it and realized it was the same cupcake used for the original Chica. And she thought it was a bit creepy. She shrugged and glanced at Chica, she was playing her guitar and standing at the window. She was smiling at Saphira as she bobs her head as she played it. Saphira was somewhat jealous the bot could play the guitar better than her. She walked past Monty's next, but his curtain was drawn closed so she could not see him. She thought about talking to him through the Fazwatch, but it might not do anything. The next one over was Roxy's room, she was still staring at herself in the mirror. She did turn her head when she saw Saphira in the mirror's reflection and simply gave her a simple wave and turned right back to looking at herself. This animatronic was strange, but she did not take it personally. Finally, Freddy's room. He was waiting at the window and waved at her with a smile and she stopped in front of him right by the glass. This was as close as she had gotten to him tonight.

"Super star, I look forward to seeing you again tonight," Freddy said, she noticed his mouth does not move as he speaks to her through the Fazwatch. "Be sure to sleep well and get ready for another night of dealing with us animatronics. Heh, you will be thrilled to no there is no general maintenance scheduled for tonight. At least for now, so you won't have to go down to Parts and Service."

"That's a relief." Saphira said, although that would probably change and she knew it. She placed her hand on the glass casually without really taking notice of her action. "I hope you will not get too annoyed by the kids that come here."

"I never get annoyed by the children, they make me happy all day. I am scheduled to tend to five birthday parties today, and that is not much like it can be." He glanced down at her hand and placed his own on the glass. "I can tell you about it later if you would like."

Saphira stared at the massive hand on the glass. She realized she placed hers on the glass and he had responded in kind. It was nice actually that Freddy did that, even though it was freaking her out at the same time. "I am not really into birthday parties, but you are free to tell me about it when I get back Freddy." She noticed that it was six now and she was able to clock off. "I need to go now Freddy, or I'll be in trouble for staying too long."

"Farewell super star, go and have good dreams about your future," Freddy said gently as Saphira pulled her hand away from the glass.

Saphira smiled as she made her way back to the atrium to go to the elevators. She could go through the utility tunnels, but that would take longer to get out of the facility. She realized she actually had a good time on her first shift here at the pizzeria despite being scared of the animatronics. She did not leave feeling like she's had a bad day and that was good. She gazed back at the pizzaplex once she walked out into the parking lot to get to her car. The other employees had started to arrive, a few of the customer service staff and daytime security were here now. They wave to her briefly when she left, though she probably was not ever going to get to know them since they would finish their shifts earlier than when she signed on. For now, Saphira returned to her small apartment to shower, eat and go to bed, hoping that her next shift will be just as good as the first one.
