The door of the Protective Cylinder opens as Cliff and Daisy finished the maintenance needed for Foxy. The bot stood up from the chair, he had a depressed expression as he looked at his right hand that should be a hook and slowly walked out of the cylinder. Saphira felt sorry for him because he looked so sad right now.
"Okay, Foxy is done for now, we will try to have your hook fixed on our next shift Foxy," Cliff said to the bot, placing a hand on his hand gently with a smile. Foxy glanced at the technician for a moment. "On the bright side, you don't have to stay in your room all day tomorrow, you can go and play in Kids Cove. They still love you."
"Yah, I know. It is not the same without me hook. I don't feel…like me." Foxy glanced at Saphira for a moment, she hoped he did not blame her. But he smiled at her and stepped closer, making Saphira take a step back in fear. "Thanks for bein' here Saphira. I was happy to see you lass. You did good." He winked at Saphira as he was referring to the day before, she smiled at him as she was glad he was not making it obvious. "Ye know where to find me."
He turned to walk towards the stairs to head up to his room. Saphira watched him leave, he did not have a skip in his step like he did normally. It was heavy and slow, he definitely was sad. In fact, it looked like he was trying not to cry. Saphira did not know if they were capable of crying, she has not heard them yet.
"Nice to see you here Saphira." She snapped her head towards Cliff when he addressed with wide eyes like she was just caught. He rose an eyebrow at her reaction. "I hope you're not afraid me too. I am glad you're here. You get to watch us do our job before you help with Freddy." Saphira nearly rolled her eyes at him, she didn't appreciate him telling her that. Cliff looked up at Chica next. "Your turn missy, we shall see if there is anything we need to find out."
"I feel fine Cliff," Chica responded confidently before sighing dramatically and placing a hand on her hip. "But I know it is procedure, so I will let you check my systems over." She giggled and approached the door as Daisy selected Chica's file on the console. The door opened again to let Chica in. She glanced at Saphira and winked at her. "This will not take long."
Saphira was sure of that, she watched Cliff and Daisy go back inside, leaving Saphira with Freddy and the other technicians. She watched quietly as the technicians remove Chica's beak, they seemed to be checking her voice box right now. She did not really know why, but there was probably a reason for it. Saphira did wish she was in there right now, her fingers were twitching and all she wanted was to help. But she could not. She knew it too. At least for now, in a sense, this was her punishment for helping Roxy. It really was not fair.
While Saphira focused on what was happening inside the cylinder, she had not felt the eyes lingering on her. Freddy was not paying attention to Chica, he was gazing at Saphira. She was so close! He could reach out and touch her! But she would jump away if he did. But while he could only see the back of her, his mind was still wandering and he again was feeling warm as he trailed the curves of her body with his eyes. He still did not know why she affected him. He figured there was something wrong with his system, especially as he's never looked a human this way. Although he did think something was wrong with his system, he actually liked this feeling. He couldn't explain it at all. She was a young woman, he knew she was twenty as her profile was in the pizzaplex system. And she already has been through so much. Freddy could not help but wonder how bad her life was before now. Does that meant she didn't always live in a white house? Did she live in something else? And she knew self defense, Freddy wasn't totally against violence, but the bandaids on her cheek stirred a feeling he's never had before either. Anger. Protectiveness. Those two new feelings made him question his system even more. He should never feel anger at all! Protectiveness could be argued, but anger and jealousy…no, this was something he did not understand. The only ones who might are Bonnie and Monty. Both of them seem to experience these feelings, and he wanted to understand it. Freddy had considered speaking to them, but with Monty's distrust for Saphira, he did not know how he would react. They probably wouldn't even understand these feelings towards a human. Why would they? They were animatronics! Sure, Saphira did not think it was a bad thing, but Freddy could not help but feel conflicted. The urge to touch her skin and run his fingers through that hair, to figure out how to kiss her without hurting her…it was rather overwhelming and his self control on this matter made him worry he will malfunction. Plus, there was another feeling deep inside him that he was not familiar with. And he felt only she could relieve that feeling, but he could not pinpoint that feeling at all.
Saphira glanced a little and noticed Freddy was staring at her in the reflection of the glass. However, she saw him move a hand to his forehead to rub and she turned to look at him, he blinked in surprise when he's realized he was caught staring. "Are you okay?"
"I am fine super star," Freddy responded in his usual calm, collected tone and relaxed his arm by his side. "I…I got lost in thought. Do not be concerned, it is not a malfunction or error that I feel, I was just thinking too hard."
"I hope so. Because it would be a shame to put you out of the show for it." She smiled at him gently, and Freddy glanced down on the lips, focusing on them for the first time since he's met her.
They were glossy from lip gloss with a pink ting, they appeared to be very soft and delicate, and he wondered what they would feel like if she kissed him. He glanced up at the window to keep himself from being too focused on Saphira, she was taking notice of his unusual behaviour. She frowned at him, wondering what has gotten into him. She considered telling Cliff, but she decided not to. Because if Freddy was just thinking, then she was overthinking it for nothing. However, she did wonder if he was staring at her, or that she looked at the wrong time. She shrugged, not knowing which was to the truth and looked back into the cylinder. Cliff and Daisy had moved onto Chica's stomach as they had removed the coverings and they seemed to have found somethings in there that needed to be cleaned. Saphira was sort of glass to not be dealing with it, though she knew she would have to at some point in the future.
"So…" Saphira jumped when she heard Dave and glanced at him as he approached her with a creepy smirk. She glared at him and folded her arms. "Aw…don't be like that honey…I am only trying to be nice."
"Oh yeah? Well, I'd rather jump into a pool of piranhas." She glanced away from him with a deep frown, looking into the cylinder while also keeping an eye on his reflection. "And…I can do a lot worse than Marian and Daisy, so if I were you, back off. You already were warned about a broken nose, I am not joking."
"I believe you. I do." He kept smirking while strutting his body like he was some cool guy. "That is what makes you so…hot." Saphira grimaced and she felt her stomach turn, this man made her sick. "You know, I know a lot of places here where no one can find us. Especially underground…"
Saphira shuddered in disgust and stepped away from him. "No thanks…I do not like dark places." She glared at the man. "Now please, for your protection, stay away from me." She planned on reporting him anyway, there would be enough video evidence anyway.
"Hmm, playing hard to get huh? Well…" Dave widened his eyes as Freddy suddenly stepped between him and Saphira. "What the hell Freddy?! Get out of the way! This has nothing to do with you. I am just trying to be nice to Saphira."
"I do not get that impression from her. I think I will stay here." Freddy turned his head to look through the window, keeping himself where he was. "I do not wish for any violence. So I am simply protecting you from her. After all, she does know self defense."
"Like that is supposed to scare me!" Dave snapped with spit flying out of his mouth.
"David!" Marian snapped angrily, causing Dave to flinch in shock when his fall name was used. He noticed she was holding a bucket in her hand and was smirking at him. "I have a bucket of fresh oil drained from the endos today, shall I give you a nice bath?" He shakes his head and backs away from the cylinder to move away from Saphira, Freddy and Marian. "Good choice." Marian chuckled and looked at Saphira with a wink. "I got your back. And Freddy…" She gazed up at the animatronic, surprised he would even protect another human. "That was good."
"Thank you, Marian. I did not wish to see anyone else getting hurt." He turned his head towards Saphira who had moved further from him than before and he frowned slightly. "Are you okay Saphira?"
"Yes…y-yes I am." Saphira was just shocked and frightened Freddy had stepped in to protect her. She was used to being protected, and his movement had scared her. But…she appreciated it. "I was just startled by your sudden movement, that is all."
Freddy sighed, there she goes again, scared of him. At least when she helped with the general maitenance, it will be the closest he will ever have been with Saphira. Plus, he will feel her skin on his body while she worked, that thought alone made his system feel very warm and again the other feeling deep down only grew stronger. He just wished she would find a way to get over that fear of him. It made him sad and hurt she kept doing that. It was day three, and things were already better than the first day they met. There were many more days to go, at least he hoped for that. He did not know what would become of him if she left.
"Okaay! Chica is done! Nothing wrong, except for needing to clean out some mold." Saphira smiled when Cliff announced Chica's general maintenance was finished and walked around Freddy, approaching the man as Daisy walked over to the console to complete the maintenance log. Cliff looked at Saphira with a smile. "Alright, time for the main event I guess." He glanced up at Freddy who approached slowly. "Alright Freddy, your turn."
Saphira shuddered a little when she heard his footsteps, but she had to step away as Chica skipped out of the cylinder and turned suddenly to hug her. Saphira exhaled loudly as the hug was a little hard and it knocked the wind out of her. She was not used to this many hugs, and Chica was just giving them to her so randomly and casually.
"Uhh…thanks Chica…you can let me go now," Saphira grunted, patting her shoulder gently to have her let her go. "You…you're hugging a little too tight."
Chica gasped and lets Saphira go immediately. "I am so sorry! I didn't realize!" She looked at Saphira and scanned her for a second. "Not broken…oh, you had me worried. I promise to not hug so tightly next time."
"Alright, since you're done hugging, it is time to start on Freddy's maintenance," Cliff said with a smile. "Run along to your room now Chica. You'd better get some practice in." He glanced at Saphira for a moment. "I am impressed you're allowing her to hug you so soon. She must have been doing something right."
"Yeah…she just started to hug me without me expecting it," Saphira responded with an awkward chuckle. She glanced at Chica who skipped away to head back to her room. "I'll see you a bit later Chica!"
"You can count on it!" She giggled and held up the peace finger sign with a wink before skipping through the door to her room.
That animatronic had so much energy! Saphira wished she had that kind of energy. She approached the console and saw Freddy's profile was already selected, which meant they just had to go into the cylinder to begin. She nearly jumped away when Freddy walked past her into the cylinder to get into the chair. She did pull her arm away in fear of him bumping into her and turned her body to see him taking the seat.
You can do this! You already helped with Bonnie, Roxy and Foxy, this is no different. Freddy is your friend, he will not hurt you and he's just a big teddy bear. Like the plush in the office.
Saphira's silent, self motivation probably would sound silly to anyone else if she said it out loud, but as she and Cliff stepped into the cylinder, Saphira felt her heart race. She breathed deeply and grabbed the console to begin by scanning Freddy's body.
"So I assume you have felt no different Freddy. Has anything happened recently that we should check on?" Cliff tugged at his overall sleeve casually, waiting for the scan to be completed on Saphira's end to begin.
"Everything has been normal. Another pinata piece got stuck in my stomach hatch however, I can't seem to get it out." Freddy than thought about what else that he felt might need to be check. "Oh yeah, a kid used a Fazer Blaster at my eyes today. I can still see fine, but…you know how those things affect out eyes."
"Yes I do." Cliff glanced over to Saphira who wondered how it was possible for those toys to affect the eyes of the animatronics. "Has the scan completed yet Saphira?"
"Almost. There is a bit of red in his wrists, they might have an issue. Everything else appears to be fine." She stared at the console for a bit longer until it completed and showed the result. "Hmm, that is it honestly. That is a good thing."
"Hmm, well Freddy needs use of his arms for the show. Well, we better get this pinata piece out first." He rubbed his hands together and both he and Saphira pried the stomach hatch open. "Ooh! It's lodged in good!"
Saphira was shocked, the pinata piece was lodge in the slot where the roller for the hatch was. She wiggled it a little with her hand and found it was stuck. She huffed and got onto her tippy toes to try and yank it out. She stuck her tongue out to the side, grunting a little as she wiggled the piece and felt it start to move.
"It's coming now!" Saphira grunted as she used her muscles to pull the piece. "Shit!" The piece came to a stop again and she continued to try and wiggle it. "What are the pinatas made of? Metal?"
"Aluminium, that has never happened before honestly. Looks like the new unicorn pinata, I might have to let Darren know to have this removed. We can't have this getting stuck in all the animatronics with stomach hatches." Aluminium?! That sounded like a terrible material to make pinatas from. "It really is stuck in there. It's not causing discomfort for you is it Freddy? It looks like it is lodged good."
"No…it feels very strange," Freddy responded calmly, although he was actually enjoying himself right now.
Despite that Saphira was struggling to remove the pinata piece, Freddy was staring at her again. At this angle, he could see the curve of her back and backside, he could just see the curves of her breasts and her shirt had lifted slightly due to the shirt she was wearing. Her stomach was rubbing against his side and her skin was so warm! And soft too! Freddy couldn't touch it, but feeling it on him felt…he wasn't sure how to explain it at all. Not even to himself! And her arms brushing against his chest while she focused on her job…again, wow. She was so close to him and he wanted to do more than just lay here. He didn't care that the pinata piece was a pain for Saphira to pull out, this was all worth it to him.
Saphira suddenly pulled the piece out, causing her to fall onto her backside on the ground. "Ow!" She groaned, she had landed on her tail bone and Freddy looked down at her with worry. She held up the piece and Cliff ran over to her. "I got it! Owie, that hurt!"
"Are you okay?" Cliff asked as he helped her to her feet, she wrapped her arm around his shoulder as he lifts her onto her feet.
"Tonight is not my night," Saphira groaned, rubbing her tail bone area and breathed in deeply. "I am find, I just landed on my tail bone."
"Yeouch! That would have hurt. You got the piece at least." Cliff smiled as Saphira lifts her hand to give to one of the hands above to take away. "Now we should check the arms."
Saphira nodded as she approached Freddy and noticed his worried expression. "I am okay Freddy. It is just one of those nights. And I thought I was going to have a good night. Looks like I've just been slapped in the face."
"I dare hope this will not be a pattern. I hate to see you hurt." He glanced at his stomach hatch as Cliff closed it. "I refuse to use those pinatas now. I do not want them lodged like that again."
"I agree Freddy. Do not worry, I will take care of that." He stood by Freddy's right arm and glanced at Saphira, she was pressing buttons on the console to get through the right procedure to remove the casing around the arms. "Alright, let's see what these old arms need."
Saphira chuckled a little and went through the sequence to remove the casing and looked down once they were removed. She hummed a little and pulled out her tiny torch, turning it on for a closer look. Cliff glanced up in surprise as he does not have one, but he said nothing as he looked closer at the other arm. Saphira hummed a little, looking at each part she could see. So far, nothing seemed odd.
"Freddy…could you move your wrist a little?" She asked without looking at his face. "I can't see anything immediate." Freddy stretched and rolled his wrist slightly and Saphira heard it. A spring in the wrist made a loud spoing sound. She grabbed the wrist to roll it to look at the spring. "Are the springs in the wrists supposed to make loud spoing nosies?"
"No…they are not." Cliff noticed the same in the right arm. "The springs need replacing again. It's been a good twelve months since the last change, now is the time for that." He reached up to get the right springs for the wrists. "Okay Saphira, looks like it'll be a bit more complicated. You will need to watched your hands, because those springs hold the plates to help more the wrist and hand, you will need to put something between them before removing and replacing the spring."
"I understand," Saphira said confidently, waiting for the tools and spring replacements to be lowered down. "I will not hurt myself."
"If you don't feel confident, let me know and I will do it." Saphira simply nodded at Cliff as she grabbed the tools and spring replacement.
Freddy watched Saphira, he was worried he would accidentally hurt her. Especially with wrist components, they can snap shut on a person's finger very easily and break it. He could not move his hands to help like he wanted to, so they needed to be careful. Cliff knew what he was doing, so Freddy had no issue with him. He watched Saphira pick out a small, metal piece and size it against the current spring. It was a little long, but Saphira pressed on side of the piece to one plate, she pushed it up slightly and slid the other end in. She relived the pressure to see how it would sit and it sat just fine. Saphira was relived, she had her torch in her mouth again and she grabbed the specialty tools to remove the spring. It took a few minutes, the spring was well lodged into place and if she wasn't careful, it would fly out of the wrist and hit her face. Using the tools, she managed to slowly slip the spring out and pull it quickly in case the plates snap even with the small, metal piece. They do not, Saphira was relieved and grabbed the new spring and took a deep breath before leaning over the wrist to carefully push the spring into place. Freddy watched with worry, Saphira slowly moved the spring between the plates and grimaced as it was a little difficult getting the ends into the small spring slots. Saphira groaned a little as she pushed one side in first and focused on the other. It took a little TLC and shoving to get the spring in and once it was in, Saphira sighed with relief and carefully removed the metal piece. The plates do not snap shut and she stepped back, wiping the sweat from her forehead and smiled.
"I did it!" Saphira announced, looking at Cliff who was already finished and smiling at her. "How did I do?"
"A lot faster than I thought, now we need to go through the diagnostics to make sure his hands and wrists work properly before putting the casings back on," Cliff said, gesturing to the monitor by Saphira.
She nodded and grabbed it, bringing up the diagnostic screen to go through the Simon Says process. As she pressed the correct sequence, she could see his fingers and wrists twitching through the process until it was finished. Freddy than moved his hands, fingers and wrists to test them properly, and there was no horrible noise and they were moving smoothly. It was done! Saphira was thrilled and put the casings back on.
"Should we check the eyes?" Saphira asked curiously, looking at Cliff. "I am surprised a toy has an effect on the eyes. Do the Fazer Blasters screw up their lenses?"
"Yes, and the flash of the Faz Cams cause their sight to be blurred for a second, and causes discomfort. I am not sure why, I've tried to have those toys removed or changed so they don't hurt the animatronics, but they can cause them to have seizures if they get shot too much. I suppose in a sense they're epileptic." Cliff shrugged a little while Saphira wondered if their eyes could than be changed to withstand those flashes. "We are working on new eyes for them too, so that might help when we implement them. But Freddy is okay. We are done."
Saphira nodded, deciding not to argue with Cliff and put the console up to signal they were done and walked out of the cylinder to complete the log on the console outside the cylinder. She was relieved this was all over. She glanced at her watch, it was nearly three and she felt her stomach grumbling angrily at her. She had not realized how hungry she was right now. She heard Freddy walking out of the cylinder, he was stretching his arms and moving his hands. She finished the log and looked at him, and blinked for a moment, because it looked to her Freddy was flexing his arms with how he was moving them. She shakes her head a little, he was an animatronic.
"Thank you super star!" Freddy said to her happily, looking at her with a big smile. "You did a great job tonight." He glanced at her stomach when it growled, she realized he heard that and was immediately embarrassed. "You should get something to eat. Sounds like you are hungry."
"I am, thank you for reminding me." Saphira smiled and turned to look at Cliff. "Do you need my help for anything else?"
"Not at all. Feel free to go back. And Dave…" Cliff turned towards the technician who looked at him in surprise. "Do not approach Saphira like you did before again. She's not going to tolerate it."
"Huh? I did nothing! And how did you even see anything?" Dave was frowning in confusion, Saphira was confused too as she thought he did not see.
"Oh I did, I am not that blind. You might just be losing your job soon." Cliff smiled at the man and glanced at everyone else. "Alright gang! We need to start finishing up now, our shifts are almost over. Let's get going!"
Saphira turned to leave as she decided she did not need to be in the same room right now while they prepared to leave. "Wait a minute super star." Saphira stopped with her spine shuddering at his voice and turned to look at him. "Thank you." She looked up in shock as Freddy was right there and he stretched out his arms to wrap them around her and pull her to his chest. Saphira was so stiff and her hands rested on his chest as she did not know what to do. "Sorry…don't be mad at me. I just wanted to thank you."
He was hugging her! And Saphira was not prepared! Like Chica…except…Saphira still felt scared of him. He lets her go and steps away to give her space. She stepped back on her shaky legs and turned to run out of Parts and Service. Her heart was about to explode, but as she reached the platform to go up to the atrium, she actually placed her hands on her sides where his hands had rested. She realized those big, strong, hands actually were comforting. But her fear of his took over and she did not realize that. She definitely decided she would be on alert with him. He pushed it tonight with the hug, and Saphira was not sure how to feel about it right now.
