Saphira looked up from looking at the plush when she heard the door open. She expected to be frightened, but she was rather calm and relaxed upon seeing Freddy emerge from the dark confines of the back of his room. She could not help but wonder why it was so dark in there, she was glad to not follow him there.

"Are you ready super star?" Freddy asked, holding his hand out to Saphira. "Do you need me to go with you to any other part of the building? I assume you are going to check the basement of the building."

She took his hand and he helped her to stand. "Yeah…" She grimaced as she was not looking forward to checking these areas. "If you don't mind Freddy…I would like the company."

"Of course, you can count on me super star!" Freddy exclaimed confidently, walking to the door of his room with Saphira behind him. "I will not let anything bad happen to you so long as you stay with me. The utility tunnels and the basement are not that bad."

"Maybe for you Freddy, but…" Saphira gritted her teeth, glancing at the big red doors ahead of them that led into the security tunnels. "I used to sleep in dark tunnels before…mostly when I first left my parents."

"Oh really? I thought every human lived in those white houses I see on the TV." She smiled and shakes her head, what Freddy knew was not entirely true. Yet his innocence about the world still made her smile. "Am I wrong?"

"You are. But it is okay Freddy, I have a roof over my head now. It took a long time to get it." Saphira turned on her flashlight as she opened the doors into the utility tunnels, shuddering at the drastic change of colour. It was dark, dull and the smell of dusty and dampness made her shudder. "Before that, I had no real home. I was homeless and I was forced to sleep where I could that was safe. Or…safe enough…"

"And…dark tunnels was one of them right?" Freddy asked curiously, Saphira opening up to him interested him. Plus, it allowed him to begin to understand her fears.

"Yeah…and one of those places was an old attraction. It was abandoned, but there were still things there that were unsettling." She walked down the stairs slowly, it was obvious she was nervous and Freddy wanted to comfort her, but feared he would scare her more. "It had torn clown costumes, very rusty animatronics and an old merry-go-round with horses missing limbs and paint on the faces. It was not a great thing to see each night before bed."

"Is that why you are afraid of us?" Knowing that Saphira's seen rusty, old animatronics before would seem to make sense.

"No actually, that is not the reason." Saphira knew it seemed like it was, but it really was not. She continued down the stairs, the temperature was dropping and she shivered a little. "Hmm…I didn't think it would be cold down here."

"These places don't exactly have air conditioning, I know it can get warm when the workers use the forklifts. But you can wrap your arms around me to keep warm if you wish." That sounded like a good idea, but Saphira needed to keep aware of her surroundings, and Freddy was a big distraction if she was honest. "How long were you homeless for?"

"Well, I got my first night guard job five months after I left home, it took a few months to save enough for somewhere to rent…even then, it took a long time because I was under eighteen…" Saphira had to think because it has been a while since she was homeless. "I guess about fifteen months, I managed to get a caravan to sleep in for two years before I managed to get the small apartment I am living in now. In retrospect, that really isn't long compared to some people."

"It must have been very hard…"

"It was. I had to go without a lot of things. Sometimes no food for days, but I always managed to have water. I was underweight for a while honestly. But…it wasn't so different from home if I am honest…" Saphira sighed and shakes her head as they reach the bottom and enter the tunnels. She knew how long it was and the many other halls they turn off into. She shuddered a little when she saw the dark hallway. "Why do I have to come down here?"

Freddy was very sad for Saphira as he listened to her speak about her past. He had no idea people could be homeless, not have food or even a warm place to sleep. And the fact she used to be underweight…he felt happy to know her while she is healthy right now. He gently moved his hand and placed it on her shoulder. Saphira gasped at the contact and moved slightly, but not enough to throw his hand off.

"I am right here with you Saphira. I will not go anywhere." She looked at him, he was confident and hearing his gentle tone reassuring her made her smile at him. "There, I much prefer that smile than the fear in your eyes." His eyes linger on her lips, the urge to kiss them, or attempt to kiss them was growing again.

"You're right. I will try to smile more." She reached up to his hand and held it. "Thanks, your hand is very warm." She moved it off her shoulder, but she kept her hand in his palm. "I am glad you are here with me."

Freddy nodded as they proceeded into the tunnel. "What did you mean by that it was not so different from your home?"

She did not think he would catch that. "Ehh…well…let's just say not having food was regular for me. But being homeless was ten times better than living with my parents. Most people would not say that, but I do."

While he wanted to know more, the fact that Saphira even said she preferred to be homeless than living with her parents really stood out to him. Were they such horrible people? The thought of her being starved seemed to get to him, and seeing her enjoy the food she already has had here made it seem worth while.

"At least you will never be hungry here. You can eat as much as you want. I am so sorry your life has not been kind. But you are safe now." Saphira appreciated his kind words, he would never be able to understand exactly what she has been through, but it was nice to talk to someone who actually cared to listen. "Was it because of your parents that you are afraid of us?"

"Ummm…kind of…" Saphira did not really want to answer that and shakes her head. "Look…I don't want to talk more about it Freddy. Talking about me being homeless and learning to live on my own is better."

"Oh…sorry."

"It is not your fault Freddy. I understand, you want to know. But…I am not ready to tell." She glanced up at him with a smile. "Like Monty, I have a lot of bad memories. I don't expect anyone to fully understand what has happened to me. Just as we probably don't fully understand Monty's feelings."

"You are right…I suppose you and Monty have that common thing. I am sad he still does not want to be your friend…or acts like he does not want to. I think he really appreciated you giving him the support for those new claws tonight. So I hope that won't put you down." It won't, but it still would be nice to declare him as an actual friend. Freddy glanced down a hallway that was even darker than the main tunnel. "Hmm…hopefully no one is down there."

Even with the lights shining from Saphira's eyes, seeing that dark hallway made her shiver. "Well…I guess we are about to find out." She licked her lips for a moment and yelled into the hallway. "Is anybody down there? Hello?!"

Her words echoe back to her and she waited to hear anything. Nothing, not even the sound of a mouse. Freddy chuckled gently, while he understood her fear now, it was still amusing considering nothing down there would hurt her.

"That's just a garbage shoot down there anyway Saphira." She looked at him in surprise. "Sorry…I thought that was rather amusing."

She shakes her head and chuckled a little. "Don't play me like that."

"I won't do it again…I promise." Freddy winked at Saphira to let her know he would do something playful again at some point, she rolled her eyes and continued down the hallway.

There was so much stuff down here! Lots of piping, spools of wire, barrels filled with different liquid, forklifts and pallet jacks were around this place, it was very messy. Of course, no one really ever sees it, so it was not a huge deal in that sense. Still, Saphira and Freddy had to go around these to go through the tunnels. She checked some of the side rooms with Freddy, and luckily they were empty. He did point out a staircase that led up to the lobby, but she needed to check the entire hallway, as much as she hated it. And there was an elevator that led to the basement anyway so she could check the dining hall, kitchen, loading dock and lockers. It was not as far down as Parts and Service according to Freddy, but it was still dark. She could handle the hallway to Parts and Service, but that was because it was well lit.

"Looks like no one is down here," Freddy said as Saphira shines her light up the tunnel that led to Roxy Raceway. "Seems like we can go to the basement now. What do you think?"

"Yeah…but I have been hearing strange sounds down here. Have you not heard them?" She glanced at him and Freddy seemed surprised, shaking his head. "I hear a bot. But I cannot see it. Are there bots down here?"

"There are some security bots and cleaners…but I have not seen anyway or heard any. You might be overthinking it a little Saphira. Your fear could be messing with you." He could be right, but Saphira could not shake that feeling. "Come super star, we should go to the elevator now."

Saphira nodded slowly and turned around. She still was holding Freddy's hand, she has not let go through whole time. He has felt how shaky she was, and he was glad to be there with her. She stopped for a moment as there was a creaking sound above them and suddenly a gas pipe bursts. She ducked as the hot gas nearly hit her face, and she could smell the strong scent of chemical. She pulled up her shirt to cover her mouth.

"Where's the valve?!" Saphira yelled, trying not to breath in the fumes as much as possible.

Freddy had been alarmed too, this has not happened before. He walked over to the nearest valve, Saphira grabbed it to pull it closed, but it was very stiff. Freddy placed his hands on it and with a swift movement, they close it and the gas stops. Freddy looked at the pipe with a frown, wondering what caused that and glanced down as Saphira gasped and coughed.

"That could have been bad!" She groaned, waving her hand in front of her face. "Alright, we can go…" She turned to walk towards the elevator, only to jump back. "WAAAHHH!" The top half of a staff bot suddenly dropped down, it was completely limp and it's face had been painted with a big, open smile with tiny teeth, tear streaks and black circles around the eyes. "W-W-W…I knew I heard something!"

She yelped and jumped behind Freddy when the bot falls to the floor, twitching and glitching in front of them. Freddy looked at the bot curiously. "This is…this is not normal…" He felt Saphira trembling behind him and he gazed around, scanning for any other bots that might do something. "We should go now. This bot is not likely to do anything now Saphira. I apologize, I did not hear it."

"It's not your fault…" Saphira took deep breaths before she frowned. "Hmmph! I wonder if Dave had anything to do with this…he was giving me the side eye treatment earlier. He could have done something."

"That does not sound like something he would do," Freddy responded quickly and she looked at him in surprise. "He has been here long enough Saphira. I know he's been given a final warning, but why would he tamper with the bots?"

"He knows I am the one who sent the report. He doesn't need to be told who sent it." Saphira sighed deeply and she walked around Freddy so she could get around the bot on the ground. "He probably tampered with a bot. This appears to be one that was trashed, so he could do anything he wants."

"Perhaps…" Freddy had a hard time believing it. He knew Dave was not very liked by his colleagues, but Freddy did not think he was that bad of a person. "We should go anyway. Send Cliffton a message regarding this bot, that way he can deal with it."

Saphira creeps around the bot like it was an insect and ran on her tippy toes away from it. "Eww…it acted like a zombie…" She almost wanted to wash her hands and feet. The bot twitches again as Freddy walked towards her, glancing down at the bot. "Alright…if there is something like this in the basement, I am locking myself in the office."

Freddy smiled at her and held his hand, she gladly takes it and they walk together towards the elevator. "If that is what you wish…" He stopped as the lights suddenly goes out. "Oh great…perfect timing!"

Saphira wrapped her arms around Freddy, glancing around nervously as the tunnel was completely dark, except for her flashlight and the lights from Freddy's eyes. She could not hear Moon at all, but if he was coming, they would hear him. She hears the bot twitching and she glanced towards it, the lights from it's eyes were still on and it was looking at them! She grimaced, pressing herself against Freddy more and he looked around with an arm around her protectively. Nothing else was being heard and the lights come back on. She relaxed with a relieved sigh and she tugged on Freddy's arm to keep moving.

"Hmm…at least Moon is the least of our worries," Freddy said, happy that the animatronic did not make it worse for Saphira. "We are very lucky that even storms don't even affect the facility. From what I understand, our power grid isn't connected to the town."

"Oh?" Saphira was surprised he said that as blackouts was not something she's considered before. "I never knew that. Smart move probably."

She looked at the elevator ahead of them and she reached out to press the button to open it to go down to the basement. She really did not want to. She already felt like this night was so long. At least she got to see their rehearsal.

"I suppose it is. We have not had an actual power outage since…" Freddy paused to think and she smirked at him as they step into the elevator and waited for his answer. "Hmm…I don't even remember an actual power outage…maybe before I was awake perhaps. I don't know. I did not think that through very well did I?"

Saphira chuckled at him. "It's okay, if there has not been an actual power outage at least the owner did something right. At the very least, I will not have to worry about it."

"Definitely." Freddy could not imagine how Saphira would react to an actual power outage. But if there was, he and his friends would shut down with no way to recharge themselves. "And we would deactivate…I am glad that has not happened."

"Oh yeah, sometimes I forget you need to recharge." She shrugged a little and jumped when the elevator dings and opens up to the loading dock. She breathed out loudly. "Alright…like I said, if there is another creepy bot around here, I am booking it to my office and staying there for the rest of the night!"

Freddy waited until Saphira took the first step out into the loading dock as he would not pressure her. She did notice there were more bots down here compared to the utility tunnels, which was fine as long as they don't bother her. She was surprised that the loading dock seemed more tidy than the utility tunnel as the massive shelves were full of boxes, the forklift was parked nicely so no one was at risk of tripping on the forks and it was very tidy. That was good. And it was a big area that would be difficult to hide in, so she moved onto the locker area next. She knew it was a big bathroom, but it was still a place someone could hide in. She was not here for long though, there was no sign of anyone hiding and there were cleaner bots in here currently. When she got to the kitchen though, she was surprised by how many cleaner bots were in here.

"Oh!" Saphira gasped as she saw them. "I was not expecting so many bots in here."

"Well you should, the chef bots work all day to prepare good food and there needs to be a lot of bots to keep it clean," Freddy responded, explaining the reason why there was so many bots in the kitchen. "There is also a separate place for pizza cooking, it is Chica's favorite place." Of course it was. "But down here, they cook many of sides and clean dishes. It is a very efficient system."

Saphira guessed so, but with how the kitchen was laid out and the many staff bots, it was unlikely someone was hiding here. "Hmm…I suppose I should go through here huh?" Saphira asked nervously. "No one could hide here without the bots spotting them."

"You are correct, it is very difficult to hide here. We should keep moving." At least he agreed with that and she walked with him and carefully moved to make sure they don't run into the bots. "They are not going to harm you Saphira."

"Yeah…well…I like them a lot less than you." She was keeping herself very close to him again and Freddy made sure she would not be frightened by another bot again. "I understand the dining hall hasn't been used for a while."

"Correct. I am unsure of the reason though…" Freddy frowned as he tried to remember the reason. "Oh yeah, that is the hall where some of the odd animatronics were."

"What do you mean, odd?" Saphira asked curiously with a frown. "There were other animatronics aside from you and the others?"

"Yes…Glamrock Mr Hippo and Glamrock Pigpatch…they were good friends. But…something happened to them here at the dining hall they used to entertain guests in, that happened a year ago, and nothing has happened since." That was a surprise. Saphira had heard about Mr Hippo, but not Pigpatch. "Hmm, I suppose they're deactivated permenantly."

"I could ask Cliff about that for you. It does sound weird…but you might not have been told the actual story." Saphira wondered if maybe there was evidence in the dining hall, but she doubted it as they make their way through the kitchen towards the dining hall. "At the very least, I am surprised it couldn't be used for something else."

"Yeah, me too. We don't like to talk about the animatronics who are not here…" Understandable, if the animatronics missed their old friends it probably hurt to talk about them. But while this place seemed to be great, there was shady things going on it seemed. "I will try not to be too depressing while we go through the dining hall."

"It's okay, I am not going to hold that against you." She placed her other hand on his arm to rub gently to try and comfort him. The feeling made Freddy glance down for a moment and look ahead at the door to the dining hall. "But…it is very dark in there too…"

Freddy knew that as he opened the door, stepping into the big, dark space. Saphira shivered as it was very cold in the dining hall, to her surprise as the kitchen was warm. She shown her flashlight around, it was a mess! Tables were overturned, some chairs were broken, the stage at the end of the room appeared to have a massive hole in it with floorboards sticking out and she could smell the strong smell of dust. It tickled her nose and she grimaced a little, hoping it won't bother her too much. There was some party supplies still on the floor, this included hats, plates and she even saw plush toys of the animatronics. Even a frog and elephant, and a Foxy-type that was white.

"Mangle…" Freddy looked at Saphira in surprise upon hearing that name. "I remember Mangle, she was the female version of Foxy before she was used as a build-an-animatronic activity at an old location."

"Yes, the original. But she was renamed as Glamrock Foxette here, that is who the Shy Foxette is named after." That was a good name! But she wondered what happened to her. "Foxy and Foxette used to be quite the team…he's never really wanted a relationship since…"

"May I ask what happened?" Saphira asked slowly and curiously.

"You can…but I am not the one who knows what happened. Foxy does. Getting him to tell you, that is a task in itself." Freddy sounded very sad speaking about the animatronic. "However, Foxette was our drummer for many years. She used to be part of the daycare facility, taking part in the Fazbear Theatre and puppet shows, she loved entertaining kids. She was probably the sweetest animatronic here…it should never have happened to her."

Saphira picked up the plush, it was a white fox with long hair curved to the side and two bushy tails, it seemed she sort so looked like a kitsune in a sense. The outfit she had was a star, purple shaped bra and a slightly torn skirt, and her eyes were a bright blue. It seemed like she used to be popular. She wondered how Foxy could even be so happy all the time without Foxette.

"Monty and Roxy never met Foxette, in fact…Roxy's room was Foxette's." That must have hurt a lot when it was remodeled for Roxy. "They do know of her, and Roxy has felt a little awkward. Sometimes I wonder when she speaks in the mirror to herself she is speaking to Foxette. But those two are nothing a like."

Saphira hummed a little, shining her light around to see if there was anyone in the room. Or any evidence that someone was here when they should not have been at some point. Hearing Freddy speak about other animatronics she has not even met made her wonder if the controversey surrounding the franchise was still true.

"Well, whatever has happened Freddy, there is a lot of history it seems. But…let's not make it a sad night huh?" She smiled at him as she was satisfied. "We can go back up to the main floor now. There is nothing around here I need to be concerned about. It has been nice talking though."

"Yeah, it has been." Freddy gazed down at his hand, she still was holding it and they both had to go back through the kitchen to the loading dock to head up to utility tunnels. "We both have had interesting lives I suppose…even if I am not a human."

"That doesn't matter, you have a memory and been through a lot too. I suppose we are all the same, even if your birth was not like mine." She smiled at him. "But, as someone wise once said, the circumstances of one's birth is irrelevant. It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are."

Hearing that made Freddy feel warm and validated that he exists. He could not help but put her in for a hug, Saphira was a little startled by it, but she quickly relaxed and hugged him back. It seems no one has actually told him something like this, and she did not know if he's ever questioned his own existence other than to be part of this facility since his creation. It was sad in a way, but Saphira was glad to make him feel happy about his existence.

"I really appreciate that Saphira. No one has…no, no one has ever said something like that to me ever. Not even Cliff. I have just known that I am a piece here for entertainment. It is nice to know someone believes otherwise, even if I enjoy interacting with guests everyday." Freddy felt his feelings growing even more for her, he still did not understand it, but at this point he did not care. He would ask Bonnie or Monty about it sometime soon.

"You are welcome. Now…" She glanced at her Fazwatch for a moment. "Yeesh! It's been an hour and a half already! We should get back up to the main floor." She tugged on his hand to drag him from the dining hall. "Come on! Plus, I am feeling a bit hungry."

"Oh! Of course, you need to keep the weight on." She giggled at him as they walk through the kitchen, where Saphira quickly moved closer to him again to avoid the bots. "At least the other chef bots up at the Bakery and El Chip's don't have such huge kitchens like this."

"Yeah, I have seen that. And the aromas from them too." Saphira felt her stomach growling and she felt a little embarrassed she saw Freddy glancing down slightly. "I have no idea how you can even hear that."

"Oh I can. Sorry, it comes as a surprise most of the time. And unfortunately, we do have go through the utility tunnels to get back." Saphira was not looking forward to seeing the bot again, but as they walk through the loading dock to the elevator to go up, Freddy moved his arm protectively around her. "At least you are not cold now."

That was true. Saphira felt like she was hanging onto Freddy for the warmth of his body. The elevator dings and she stepped back into the utility tunnels. However, she froze when she realized that bot was no longer on the floor. Freddy noticed too, he felt Saphira tense and they look around for evidence. There seemed to be nothing, but they both look at each other as this was strange. Someone has done something to the bots, and it might be someone they know. Saphira didn't want to stick around and they go up the stairs to get to the main lobby. Saphira was nearly blinded by the neon lights when they reach the main lobby, her eyes had adjusted to the dark for too long and she finally let Freddy's hand go. Much to his disappointment though. She turned off her flashlight and Freddy walked with her to get her food, his attentiveness to ensure she had food was nice and she knew it was because he knew she lacked food before she met him. And seeing her eat each bite seemed like a win in his eyes. Though there definitely was a lot more going on with this facility then meets the eye.
