One Month Later...
Sitting cross legged on her couch in her apartment, Saphira typed furiously on her laptop. She had been working on a counter virus for the past month, she had been silently observing the virus and attempting to mimic something similar to kill the virus. Saphira began to call the virus Glitchtrap as well, considering his undead self was still roaming in the pizzaplex. She had not told any of the animatronics what she had been doing at home, she didn't want Springtrap to find out. She had no idea what kind of retaliation she would get upon killing the virus. She knew at least getting rid of Glitchtrap from Moon and DJ Music Man was a priority so the bots were not forced to do the dirty work. That was the first thing she planned to do, but she still was concerned her plan would not work.
As for the progress of her pregnancy, her nausea stuck around. In fact, it had gotten worse. Saphira could not count how many times she had to run to the bathroom or for a nearby bin in the pizzaplex. Even in the apartment she has to keep a bucket near her at all times now. It has made it really hard to keep anything but water down. Strawberries were also the only other thing she could keep down at the moment. It wasn't ideal, but Saphira ended up eating multiple punnets of the berries, and Darren made sure to stock up Saphira's office fridge with strawberries. She had tries blueberries, though they came up almost instantly. She has ended up loosing weight due to this, Freddy has been very worried about it. Though Saphira reassured him it will pass, though she could not tell him when. She has often had to force herself to eat meat or potatoes just to get something with more calories into her, plus the protein, carbs and iron were stuff she needed.
She groaned as she felt her stomach twisting, she glanced at the bucket beside her as she knew she may empty whatever was in her stomach into it again. She took deep breaths, waiting to see what her body would do. Thankfully, she did not get sick. For the time being at least. She looked at the screen of her laptop, she was happy with the progress she was making with the counter virus. She wanted to work on it until she was satisfied, and she sadly could not take the laptop with her. She glanced at the time, she had a couple hours before her shift would start. She often felt like she didn't want to go. But, it was her job. And she had support of Darren and the animatronics.
Though, disappearances have stopped for the time being. Saphira was happy about that, but she also did not know the reason for that. She assumed perhaps because she was pregnant, though she didn't think that was the main reason. Vanessa has been a lot more attentive to her job as security too, it has been good in a way so Saphira did not have to deal with people while feeling nauseous, but she also suspected Vanessa knew that she was pregnant. Saphira did not like that at all. Though nothing could be done about that. Vanessa had also stopped bringing in parcels, she didn't know what that meant either.
She gasped, placing a hand on her stomach and hunched over the bucket, heaving heavily into it. Her eyes fill with tears due to the pressure of forcing up the stomach contents. She clutched the sides of the bucket, letting her body purge what it needed to. When nothing more came up, she waited for ten minutes to ensure she would not throw up more. Her stomach calmed and she drank some water to rehydrate herself. She took the bucket to the laundry sink to wash out before getting herself ready for the shift. It was a few days before the Fourth of July, and it was going to be a busy night again at the pizzaplex. Saphira looked forward to seeing Freddy, not so much the work she had to do.
It was Monday, and Saphira knew she would be doing maintenance on the animatronics. Darren picked up the process very quick, she had taught him quite well and he seems to be enjoying it. He has managed to do a few maintenance on his own now, and the animatronics have been satisfied with his work. That was a good thing as she needed to rely on him soon. Saphira's stomach showed no signs of a pregnancy yet, though she has felt a firmness about it which told her there was something growing within her. Once dressed and her hair tied into a ponytail, she made her way out to the car to drive to the pizzaplex.
Saphira was glad she no longer had the feeling of need to stay at the pizzaplex. It was nice living there for a short time…but it was not a memory she liked. Mostly because it gave Springtrap what he wanted. Even if intimacy was not the reason Saphira became pregnant. She would probably want to live in the pizzaplex again, only after she had dealt with both Glitchtrap and Springtrap. She just hoped that she could destroy enough of Glitchtrap's virus that he would not spread out further into the world to be reborn.
She arrived at the pizzaplex and the parking lot was practically full. She was lucky to find a parking spot, and she was glad she arrived a couple hours before her shift start to ensure she had a place to park. She smiled at the familiar, large building in front of her and walked towards it, breathing in the fresh air as she approached the entrance. She was really looking forward to seeing Freddy again, she still seemed to have some lingering feelings of wanting him around all the time. This time though, she was putting it towards hormones rather than some injection making her feel this way. Him being around her was comforting.
That was probably because Freddy has become more attentive towards her, especially in the last week. Her nausea was so bad the week before she could barely stand up. Freddy remained by her side the entire time. He got used to seeing her getting sick now that it no longer bothered him, what bothered him was how it was affecting her. He made sure she had water, and even made her eat strawberries to ensure she had something to eat. She almost couldn't leave the pizzaplex because of it. Mr Hippo and Pigpatch had also become more attentive, though they allowed Freddy to be closer to her, they had also ensured she be as comfortable as possible. She was grateful for them being with her. Bonnie had also taken more time to help her, much to Monty's dismay. The gator understood, but he was missing his private time with Bonnie. Bonnie himself had started calling himself Uncle Bonnie, it seemed he was thrilled at the idea of it. Saphira thought it was endearing, even though the child had yet to survive the pregnancy.
She entered the familiar pizzaplex, smiling at the lobby around her as she walked towards the barriers. The lobby was busy with a lot of families. People were excited for the Fourth of July. She herself was looking forward to it. Darren mentioned he was preparing something for them, and she did not know what that would be, though she was excited for it. She just hoped her nausea could behave that night, she did not want to be vomitting when the fireworks were lighting up the sky.
She walked through the barrier and smiled when she spotted Darren, he was wearing a zig zag, lavender and black suit. "Should I expect you to be wearing the US flag in a few days?" She asked curiously with a teasing smile.
He grinned at her and shrugged. "You never know. I have a couple of those suits, and I love wearing them. I have to look the part."
"You look the part everyday." She chuckled at him as she walked towards the stairs, he walked beside her to walk with her to the elevators. "I am glad that is something you do. I hope you never stop wearing your suits."
"I don't ever intend to. Even when I die, I expect someone to dress me in a suit before I get buried." The two laugh gently as they reach the stairs while avoiding the guests walking past them. "Anyway, how are you feeling this afternoon?"
She grimaced at the question. "Do I even need to answer?"
He looked at her sympathetically. "Just the downside to pregnancy. Especially one like this."
"Yeah…" Saphira walked up the stairs, her thoughts were lingering on Freddy as she walked up each step. "I don't envy any pregnant woman. I never will again."
He chuckled softly at her comment. "I can't say I would ever envy you either. At least it doesn't seem as bad as last week. That is an improvement."
"That is true. I am glad to not be rushing to a bin or bathroom like last week. That was embarrassing." Saphira did remember the guests that gave her dirty or shocked expressions when she was seen rushing to the bathroom or a bin. It was not the best feeling at all. "I'll make it to the office today."
"I'll make sure of it." Darren and Saphira reach the elevator, he pressed the button to open it. "If you are wondering where he is, Freddy is at Monty golf. He and Monty are putting on a private show for a twin birthday party."
"Really?" Saphira smiled, stepping into the elevator and pressing the button to close it to go to the atrium. "That is good. I hope the two are having fun."
"I am sure they are. I will admit though, Freddy is often a little distracted these days. Would you mind reminding him he needs to focus on guests during the day?" She frowned slightly, she knew Freddy was just worried about her and that was why he was distracted. "Don't take it as an offence, it is just something I should bring up. I know he is worried about you…hell, he'll probably get more worried once you start showing. But…"
"I know, I know. I'll mention it to him. But, there is nothing I can do if he keeps thinking about me." Saphira felt it was a bit unfair to ask Freddy to stop worrying about her. Though she would at least advise him to try not to let it distract him as much. "He's been forced into this position as much as I have."
"I know. I don't want him to stop worrying. Anyway, I replenished the fridge with some strawberries as well." She widened her eyes at that, making Darren chuckle. "I knew that would get your attention. Sometimes I wonder if them cravings have started early. Anyway, hopefully you will be able to eat something else tonight. You're looking a little…" He paused as he thought about the right word to say. "Pale…um…leaner…"
She rolled her eyes at him and smirked. "I know I've lost weight, you are not going to offend me by telling me I look thin."
Darren knew that was not always true, so he kept his mouth shut about that. "Hopefully you can find something that will not make you barf."
"Me too. Depending how I feel later, I might have something." Saphira watched the elevator doors open to the second balcony of the atrium and stepped out onto it. "For now I'll just want to relax for the next couple hours. I've been doing work for a few hours."
"Work? What kind?" Darren was shocked she was doing other work, she had not told him what she was doing as well.
She shrugs a little. "Nothing that concerns you. It is just stuff I do on the side at the moment."
"As long as you don't get burned out. Especially at the moment." Darren did worry Saphira would be doing too much, but she made sure to take it easy as well. "Anyway, there's just one animatronic to maintain tonight. Chica's beak came loose today and it fell off, hanging by a wire and scaring a bunch of kids. She is in her room right now, but she is feeling very sad about it."
Saphira was shocked to hear about that. "Wow…I guess I'll have to cheer her up somehow."
"Pizza probably. She still eats it"
Somehow, the thought of pizza twisted her stomach and she tensed a little. The aroma in the atrium wasn't helping. "I'd rather not think about it."
He raised an eyebrow and realized what was going on. "Well shit…sorry, I didn't mean to make you queasy."
"It's fine, we are not far from the office." She looked across the atrium to the staff door to her office as she walked down the stairs. "If I need to, I will run to it. I'd rather not draw attention." She noticed Bonnie and Happy Frog entertaining some guests at the tables of the pizzeria and Foxy was near Salads and Sides entertaining some toddlers with some silliness. "The other animatronics don't need me distracting them too."
Darren nodded in agreement, though he knew she could not help the nausea. "You could go and spend time with Chica before starting your shift."
"That all depends on how I feel." Saphira did not want to be sick in front of Chica, though the animatronic has rubbed her back a few times and tried to help her through it. "I will go and see her, just not when I am not sick."
"I know. I am sure she will be happy to see your face." Darren smiled at her and took a deep breath. "I better go and do some paperwork now. I'll get changed later and meet you in Parts and Service."
She nodded as she continued walking across the atrium floor. Her stomach churns uncomfortably and she began walking briskly. She grits her teeth, keeping herself from gagging as much as possible as she reached the door. She opened it and stepped inside, once she did, she rushed to the elevator and stepped inside it to head up to her office. She covered her mouth with her hand, even though doing that would not help anything. Once the doors open, she rushed to the bathroom and fell in front of the toilet, heaving again and emptying what little she had in her stomach.
Damn nausea! Why must I puke almost all the time?!
Saphira breathed deeply once her stomach was empty again and she remained by the toilet for a little bit before flushing it and splashing water on her face to cool down her skin. She looked at herself in the mirror, she sighed deeply as she was sad about herself. She could see the changes in herself, she has lost weight and she could almost see her cheek bones.
She placed a hand on her stomach and looked down at it. "If you want to grow strong, you better let me eat properly," She grumbled to herself, knowing that the baby inside would not understand her.
She turned away from the mirror and walked out of the bathroom to get some more water. It was the thing she did all the time after being sick. She had to do it or she would dehydrate. She was able to drink a couple cups of slowly and carefully before she felt better. She pinched a couple strawberries to eat before she glanced at the cameras. She smiled as she saw Monty and Freddy on stage at Monty golf, Monty was playing his guitar and singing along with Freddy. They both appeared to be having a good time. She wanted to join them. But her eyes look to Chica's room. She could not see the animatronic there, but she guessed she was in the backroom.
I better make sure she is okay.
Saphira thought about talking to her through the Fazwatch, but she decided to surprise her. She made her to Rockstar Row, it had some people in there checking out the cases and looking at the old animatronic and franchise memorabilia, though as the curtains to Chica's room were closed they won't be able to see into it. At least she was wearing security staff uniform so no one would question her going into Chica's room.
She walked through the hallway to her room and entered through the door, looking around curiously. "Chica, are you here?" She called out as she walked towards the backroom door. "I heard about what happened from Darren, I am really sorry about it." She watched the door raise up to the backroom and she saw Chica sitting on a box, she was sobbing loudly. "Chica…" Chica looked up in surprise and Saphira walked over to her. "It's okay, I'll fix it tonight and it will be good again."
"Saphira…" Chica looked away from her, covering her face with her hands. "Don't look at me. Everyone is scared of me when I don't have my beak. I don't know why."
Saphira looked at the beak, it was still hanging from Chica's face and she was holding it with her hand. "If that were true, I would have flinched or screamed when I saw you, Chica. You know I am not afraid of you anymore. I've seen your endo without your beak and casing." The animatronic turned her head slightly, looking at her with her purple eyes. "Come on…don't feel too bad. I know you feel bad for scaring some kids, but kids can be scared so easily."
"I suppose…that doesn't make me feel any better. I hate scaring people." Chica looked down at the beak in her hand. "Can't you do something about it right now?" She looked at Saphira hopefully. "I know you won't be in trouble if you."
Saphira looked at the beak and Chica's face. "I could probably just reattach it temporarily, but you won't be able to move it."
"Fine with me, I hate it hanging like this." Chica looked around the backroom and points towards a small, red box. "I think that is a toolbox. You can use the tools to put my beak back onto my face."
Saphira was not sure, though she would do it to make Chica more comfortable. She grabbed the box and opened it, finding a few tools she could use. "Alright…I could use the distraction anyway."
"Feeling sick again?" Chica asked as she watched Saphira grab out a screwdriver and pliers. Saphira nodded without any noise. "Is it bad like last week?"
"Thankfully, no. I might be able to eat something properly tonight." Saphira sat close to Chica and lifts her hand. "Alright, I'm going to work on at least setting the beak back onto your face, try not to move. Without the cylinder, I can't properly prevent any pain."
"I promise I won't. I don't want to stress you out." Chica wanted to smile at her, but she could not, she could only watch her grab her beak and pull out her small flashlight to begin working. "It has been very busy today. I was supposed to join Freddy and Monty today for a birthday…but…my beak fell off."
"How did it happen anyway?" Saphira asked curiously as she shines the light of the flashlight at Chica's mouth. "Looks like a few joints have snapped."
Chica shrugged a little. "I don't know. I did not have anything hit me in the face very hard."
"It looks like someone did." She frowned a little, not knowing if Chica was telling the truth. "If it is true, then it is very unusual and I missed something."
"Hmmm…I know a staff bot hit my face a couple weeks ago…but nothing happened…" The animatronic thought about everything that has happened to figure out what made her beak fall off. "Maybe that is why, nothing else comes to mind."
"Odd that nothing happened since. And you failed to tell me so I could have fixed the issue than and there." Saphira placed the beak onto Chica's face. "Can you hold your break, I am going to see if I can try to screw it on. The joints and connections may not allow it. A few are too damaged for me to even try."
Chica held her beak, feeling very sad that Saphira may not be able to secure her beak to her face. "I am sorry…I really did not think it was a big deal. From now on, I promise to tell you when anything happens. Even if nothing happens to my body right away."
Saphira nodded. "You'd better, the last thing we need is more pieces falling off you."
She placed the flashlight into her mouth to start working. "Yeah, you have more than enough on your plate to be thinking about that. I guess that was why I didn't say anything. You were pretty sick that day, and I didn't want to make it worse for you." Chica knew it was still not a good excuse, especially as Darren was rather good at maintaining them. "I am sorry…"
Saphira wasn't mad at Chica, just disappointed. Though hearing her reason behind it, she understood. Her being nauseous really has gotten in the way of her properly maintaining the animatronics. It was frustrating. She almost puked into Monty's stomach hatch last week, and that really made the gator angry. Saphira apologized of course and made Darren take over being puking into a bucket. She didn't want to make a mess of the internals of the animatronics at all. She hummed as she was to screw a couple joints, though they were still very loose, she frowned a little and the beak still felt very loose. She kept trying until it became obvious she could not.
"Sorry, Chica." She turned off her flashlight and leaned away from her. "It will have to wait until we get to Parts and Service." Chica lowered her hand, letting her beak slide from her face sadly. "Don't worry, we don't have much time until I officially start. I'll have you fixed before Darren is finished his paperwork."
"I hope so…" Chica stared at her beak for a few minutes before looking at Saphira. "Thanks for trying. Anyway, I was thinking…" Saphira suddenly grimaced and turned her head away, making the bot widen her eyes in surprise. "What is it? Did I do something wrong?"
"No…you ate a pizza today, didn't you?" Saphira asked curiously.
"I did. A pepperoni pizza, someone gave me a few slices. I could not refuse." Chica frowned slightly as Saphira took deep breaths. "Oh…pizza disgusts you now?"
"Maybe…I don't know. I just…didn't like the smell in the atrium much anymore when I arrived. I think my sense of smell is changing. Or I am just sick of pizza." Saphira took deep breaths, she did not feel horribly nauseous which she was grateful for. "Don't worry, I am not going to throw up."
"I won't eat anymore pizza for a while…until you are okay with the smell." Chica winked at her and lifts an arm to wrap around her. "Maybe Darren should flush out my stomach so you don't have to deal with the smell."
"Good idea." Saphira appreciated the hug from Chica, the animatronic kept her face away from her so she would not get sick. "I'll talk him through on how to do it, he's seen me do it once, so I think he can do it without me."
Chica was happy to hear that before she gasped suddenly. "Oh! I was thinking…well, actually, Darren was thinking we should have a store catering to younger children. There isn't much merchandise geared towards children under five, so he was thinking of asking you if you wanted to approve of a small store in the atrium, or even in the daycare hallway."
Saphira raised an eyebrow. "Really? That might be a good idea…but I have a feeling that idea is based on me being pregnant. Still…Sun and Moon's Tot Paradise…that sounds like a good name to me. There isn't much outside of the daycare about them."
"That does sound good. Too bad Moon won't properly be happy about it." Saphira just nodded, she hoped once she felt confident in the counter virus, she could free Moon from his nightmare. "Oops…I think that was meant to be something he wanted to tell you. Sorry…forget I said anything."
She chuckled softly at Chica. "It is okay. I'll just act like I didn't hear anything about it. Though, in all honesty, I am not looking forward to having this baby. At least, right now. If something changes, I may do that."
"I know. I guess we are just trying to think of you and what you might need. Darren's sort of given everyone a list of what babies need, I never knew you needed so much when so little." Saphira chuckled again, the lack of knowledge was somewhat endearing for the animatronics. Learning more about humans must be rather exciting for them. "And, if I am honest, we have never seen a newborn baby. Only toddlers are the youngest we have seen."
"I guess you'll be surprised." Saphira wasn't surprised newborns were not brought to the pizzaplex. It was too overwhelming for a baby, even toddlers it was too much for them. But, the animatronics have yet to experience what a newborn is like. "And don't expect to rest either. They need a lot of attention."
Chica shrugged a little. "Kind of like all the kids we know already."
She was amused, the animatronics had no idea what might be coming. She still needed to get through the first trimester before even thinking more about the needs of the baby. But, she was still going to strike back at Springtrap somehow before the baby is born. There was no way she was going to give birth while he was still around. That was a promise she made to herself, and to the unborn child growing inside of her. She was very close to doing something, and she hoped to go through with it.
