They followed Cliff as fast as they could. Now with him being injured, Gregory took extra care of each step so that he would not fall over and hurt himself. He did not wish to cause additional damage to his already broken arm. But with the main threat right behind them, it was hard to not feel terrified. Saphira glanced over her shoulder to see Springtrap was not running. He was just walking behind them in a rather casual manner. He did not seem like he was in a rush to do anything. That was rather scary. She did see a knife in his hand though. He was definitely intending to hurt them, or worse.
"It seems that I underestimated one of the souls that I had taken and put into these bots of mine," Springtrap said loudly in an impressed tone. "I have to say, I am impressed, Cliffton. You managed to escape my control, and now you are helping your friend as a feeble attempt at redemption. But you are nothing more than a robot. You have no body, and there is no heaven for you."
Gregory was shocked by what he was hearing from Springtrap. He glanced at the nightmare bot in front of them as he realized by Springtrap's words, this bot had the soul of a person inside him. And Saphira once knew the man. And now he was trapped here, forced to be alive within a mechanical body. That sounded kind of awful to him. Sure, the man was able to live, but this was not a life. Especially if he had let himself be controlled by Springtrap, he would be forced to do things he did not want. And that meant the bots attacking them all had souls in them. But he guessed that they were set free from the destruction of their robotic bodies.
Cliff made a left and the two followed him through a door which he closed with a slam and picked up a metal pipe. Saphira and Gregory watch Cliff bend the pipe to make it harder for Springtrap to follow them through the door. Saphira was relieved as it would buy them time. She glanced around and saw this seemed to be a kitchen or something, but there was a door on the other side and she walked over to it to peer out. She jumped as she saw an endo standing by the door. But this endo was not functioning. It was off. She was relieved and looked at Gregory and rubbed his head gently as Cliff rolled by them.
"Well…so…are you showing us the way out?" Saphira asked the bot curiously and he turned his head slightly to look at her. "Or are showing where the mainframe is for the nightmare bots? I destroyed some further down below, but I don't know if that means there are heaps more around this underground…" She gasped as she heard Springtrap punching the closed door behind them, but she kept calm enough to keep talking. "Or will you show us both?" He nodded and she smiled. "Good…I just hope it is not too hard to follow to get out."
The bot just shrugged a little and he kept rolling ahead. Having a guide made things so much easier. And Saphira still had the axe. She picked it up from the cut hard line before, mostly because she was the only one who could use it. But she knew that she might not be able to with the contractions moving quickly. She knew that the closer and stronger they were, the closer she would be needing to push. If she could get out before that happened, it would be good. Her water has not yet broken, so that still gave time. But not a lot of time.
Cliffton paused suddenly, raising his hand to make the two stop and Gregory frowned in confusion. Saphira was curious too, but Cliff seemed to be focused on something for a moment before waved his hand for them to keep walking. It was another long tunnel, but it seemed they were getting closer to the endo warehouse. There was less garbage, but there were more bodies around. Saphira really struggled with her nausea at the moment. Plus, she whimpered and groaned as she felt another contraction, making her stop and hunch over.
Cliff looked at her and rolled over to her, placing his hand on her arm gently and patting it as it to tell her that it would be okay. Saphira looked at the bot and smiled at him. "If only there was a way to somehow integrate you back with the living." He shook his head immediately and she softened her expression to give him a sad look. "You just want to move on, don't you?" He nodded and she felt tears roll down her cheeks. "If only you were alive…I know Darren really had affection towards you. Did you know that?" He nodded before gesturing for her to keep walking. "One moment, the pain is still there."
Cliffton seemed a tad annoyed, but he did not try to push Saphira to keep walking. He knew that birth is extremely painful. But they didn't have time. Springtrap had stopped punching the door, but that didn't mean he gave up. He could have broken through, or he was taking a different route. Cliff learned very quickly about how much of a maze it was down here. But he made an effort to memorize it in case this happened. And he was glad that he did. Even though he was trapped in this robotic body, he wanted to help Saphira, and to end the suffering he and the others were going through. They didn't want to hurt Gregory or Saphira…except for Dave, he was still around and he was also heading their way. That was why he wanted Saphira to keep going.
She sighed when the pain subsided and she nodded to Cliff and Gregory to keep walking. The bot rolled ahead of them. Saphira flinched as sparks from cables on the walls flicker from the wall. She didn't let that get to her though. Everything in the underground part of the pizzaplex was pretty much run down. If she did get out of here, and beat Springtrap, there was definitely going to be a clean up of a sort. Mostly things that didn't need to be down here.
Cliff lifts his right hand and begins to gesture to the right at a crossroads and rolled to the right. Saphira and Gregory follow him, though Saphira glanced back as she heard the sound of a snake hiss echoing in the hallway. It made her shiver since she was terrified of snakes. She looked ahead as Cliff pushed open a door and rolled inside, waiting for them to follow him. When inside, he closed the door, and Saphira glanced around seeing this was a lab. A very large lab filled with test tubes, samples and so on.
"Woah…" Gregory was very intrigued as he looked around. This was a mix of biology and mechanical as there were endos and staff bot bodies caged up. "This must be Springtrap's lab. It is full of…weird things…"
Saphira couldn't agree more. Not only were there test vials, but there was hundreds of diaries scattered around the place. Along with piles of metal, cables and pictures of children that appeared to be from a long time ago. Saphira didn't understand it herself. But this could be where information about how Springtrap has been able to move souls into robots. However, there was no time to actually spend time going through all of this. They had to keep moving.
"So you have discovered one my labs, I see." Saphira and Gregory freeze as shivers run up their spines. They turn and widen their eyes in shock. Springtrap had pushed open a hidden doorway that was covered by a bookshelf. He was grinning deviously at them. "I thank all of my research to the years that have been given ever since I became this monster. If you are curious about how I do it…" He glanced at Gregory who stepped back nervously. "Gregory will make the perfect example. I have developed a new line of endos that I believe will be better than what I made previously, and they require a human soul."
"No thank you!" Gregory shouts as he turned and ran to the door that Cliff held open for them.
Saphira followed him and Springtrap just laughed in amusement. "Run, run, run…that is all you can do…" He glared at Cliff who was staring at him and sneered at him. "You really are pathetic, Cliffton. You were one of the best technicians. If only things did not end the way they have."
The bot turned away and rolled quickly after Saphira and Gregory to catch up and take them in the right direction again. Though Springtrap was still following them. As he did before, he was walking behind them. He made no effort to run after them. It was definitely a way to taunt them and show that he was dangerous, and knew what the plan was. It really was extremely unsettling to the both of them, and they had to keep moving.
They make a left and then another right before pushing through another door. This room was a server room, similar to the one that Saphira and Gregory had found before. It was another maze layout, but this time, they had a guide. They stuck close to Cliff as he rolled around the servers, before taking them to what appeared to be a dead end. Saphira and Gregory were confused before Cliff some lifts the wall panel to reveal a large vent.
"A vent?!" Gregory whispered in surprise. "But…look at my arm?! I can't crawl!"
"Maybe it is the only way to get extra distance from Springtrap." Saphira saw Cliff nod and she looked at Gregory. "The vent is big enough for you to just crouch. You don't need to crawl. Only I have the displeasure of crawling."
Gregory looked at the vent and shivering as he heard the door to the server room opening and knowing Springtrap was there. He still did not want to do this, but he had no choice. He ducked first and found he could walk like this in the vent since it was tall enough. Saphira, although being slightly taller than Gregory, had no choice. Being hunched over like Gregory was not something that she can do. She bit her lip as she got on her hands and knees to crawl into the vent. It was extremely hard on her body with the pain she was feeling her stomach.
She glanced back to see Cliff following, and managed to place the panel back on. She did not doubt that Springtrap would be aware of this vent, given he already has shown that there are many secret passages around this place. Which probably indicated how the pizzaplex was in regards to DJ Music Man, and the other types of Music Men that were too large, and Sun and Moon. Mazes and hidden doorways seemed to be a favorite feature for Springtrap.
But they had to focus on moving through the vent. Cliff rolled ahead of them and aided them in the direction they had to go through the vent system. The metal did groan and grunt under their weight, and Saphira knew it was likely echoing. But she and Gregory were moving as lightly as possible. Neither one dared to make a noise. Gregory managed to hold in a sneeze as that sound would travel rather far in here. However, Saphira heard hissing again and the sound of something moving in the vents. It sounded familiar to her.
Cliff turned another right and as Gregory and Saphira followed, they see he had opened a vent. And in that moment, they hear a loud roar echoing through the vents. Springtrap had worked out where they were, and the roar was extremely loud in their ears. They hurried out of the vent, which seemed to lead into another room full of servers. Gregory straightened his back and looked back to see Saphira crawling out of the vent, only to stop and whimper as another contraction hit. She dug her nails into the concrete floor as Cliff closed the vent.
The bot looked at Saphira as he waited for the pain of the contraction to pass. He was very worried for the girl. As much as he cared about Saphira, he knew he could not be here to see the birth of the twins she was carrying. It seems she has gotten braver since he last saw her. But he was sad that someone had cut her hair. He liked it longer, but it would grow out again, and she could go to a hairdresser to get it fixed to make it look nicer. But that depended on some things too.
When the pain finally passes, Cliff helps Saphira get onto her feet. She wiped her forehead with the back of her hand as she took deep breaths. "Shit…I am getting closer…" She looked around the room curiously as there were a lot of servers and cables everywhere. "Please tell me this is the central, mainframe for the nightmare bots." Cliff nodded affirmatively. "Good. Now can you show us the way out before you show me the hard line to destroy?"
Cliff nodded and rolled away. There was a lot of servers here that were massive servers that seemed to resemble some of the first computers that had been built. They had lots of cables connected, but there were large, five servers set in a circular position at the center of the room. Saphira walked towards them and she could see communications between the nightmare bots as it would be found on the regular staff bot system. It appeared to be more detail than the servers she and Gregory had destroyed earlier.
She and Gregory walk around the servers to the door to follow Cliff when a roof panel fell from above suddenly, nearly landing on Saphira and Gregory, causing them to yell in surprise, and several things fell out from the roof. Saphira and Gregory back away as they see white eyes looking them. Saphira gasped as she saw three, large, snake-like bots in front of them. They still had their arms on the upper part of their bodies with sharp teeth. Saphira knew one of them was Dave, as it was he who went through with the order of making her pregnant.
"He has snake bots?!" Gregory exclaimed in shock as he backed away nervously from the bots. "B-But…B-B-But why? When?! How?!"
Saphira glared at the snake bots as anger that she had carried about what had happened for ten months was surfacing. She tightened her grip on the axe as she glared at the snake bots. She did not know which one was Dave. But it didn't matter. They were all part of the same line of snake bots that Springtrap had made, and she wanted to destroy them. She assumed their system was part of this central system as well.
Cliff lunged at the snake bots, but one of them turned immediately and jumped at him, coiling its body around him and it began to bite at him. Saphira gasped and she swung the axe at the snake bots, but due to their build, the bots were able to slither away from the blade of the axe. Saphira grumbled in irritation as she swung at them again and she ended up hitting one of the servers, causing it to spark and smoke from the impact. But Saphira wasn't about to let them out of her sight.
"Get away from me" Gregory shouts as one of the snakes began to chase him. He slammed the end of his flashlight at the face of the bot, which broke the flashlight and he dropped it with a gasp. "Oh no!" He jumped when static filtered through the Fazwatch and he could just make out a voice. "Freddy! Mr Hippo! Someone! Saphira and I need help! We are being attacked by...AAAARRRGGHHH!"
The boy tripped as the bot coiled around his legs and almost landed on his broke shoulder. He stared as the bot hissed and bared its teeth at him. He glanced around and spotted a crowbar stuck between two servers. He reached out to it and he managed to grab the end of it and swung it at the snake, making it let go of his legs with a loud his of surprise. He looked at Saphira as she let out a scream as the snake she was trying to hit bit her leg. She dropped to her knees and attempted slamming the axe on it again.
The bot just slithered around her body and bit her right arm. Saphira glared at the bot as tears fall down her eyes. "You're just as devious and evil as ever, Dave!" Saphira barked at the bot furiously. The snake just huffed and coiled itself around her right arm and began to squeeze hard, making her shriek and drop the axe. "OOWW!"
Gregory ran towards her as the snake he was facing suddenly latched onto his shoulder and pulled. Gregory yelled in pain and tried to hit the bot off his shoulder. This made him drop the crowbar though as the pain was excruciating. He tried reaching back to grab the snake, only for it to just bite harder, and yank on his already broken shoulder. Gregory was overcome with pain as he began to let out sobs while trying to stop the snake.
Saphira noticed that Gregory was struggling against the snake. She was also struggling against Dave. He had let go of her arm, but he was making it impossible for her to make her way over to him. Mostly because the snake bot was keeping her on her knees, and he was taunting her as he slithered around her and snapping his teeth at her, and seemed to be laughing at her as well.
Saphira tried reaching for the axe again, but it was hit away. She looked st Gregory as he fell to the ground in pain, and he tried grabbing the snake as it let go of his shoulder. He looked around and yelped as the snake grabbed his hair with its hands and yanked him to down, hitting the boy's head on the ground. Gregory yelped and the snake slithered onto his chest and hissed loudly at him.
"Saphira! Cliff!" Gregory shoots nervously. "W-What do I do?"
Saphira was about to respond when she saw Cliff zoom over to Gregory suddenly. She gasped as she saw that all the casing of the bot had been removed, and his right arm had been torn off. Saphira had not paid attention to Cliff to know what was happening. She looked back at the bot that had attacked him and saw it was on the ground, and smoke was rising from the bot's system.
She wanted to watch, but Dave suddenly lunged at her face, making her yelp. She glared at him as the snake hissed and glanced at her stomach. "I bet you are feeling so proud of yourself right now too." The bot did not react, he only lunged and bit her left shoulder, and she grabbed the tail and pulled, only for him to use the claws to scratch her arms and force her to let him. "Damn, you!"
Saphira wished she could smash him right now. She heard the sound of something being shocked, but she couldn't look at it. She did get distracted only when she felt another contraction and she let out a soft cry of pain. She tried to ignore Dave right by her, but he used her pain to bite her left hand hard, and Saphira shrieked it pain was she felt his teeth almost hit a sensitive nerve, and it was extremely painful and she managed to hit him away.
She looked at the wound in her hand as it seeped out with warm, red liquid from her body. She felt her thumb twitch uncomfortably, and she knew for a fact that she would have to see a doctor sometime to get it seen to. She couldn't focus on that as the snake coiled around her left arm and squeeze suddenly, and with the combination of the pain in her stomach and the wounds the bot was inflicting upon her, it felt like the pain was worse than it is.
She jumped as she heard a loud bang and she looked around before looking at the snake bot as it suddenly loosened its grip. The animatronic parts stop and it slides off her arm. She looked around and she saw Gregory hitting several thick lines with the axe, using only his good arm to destroy them. Saphira was both relieved and worried at the same time. This meant that Cliff was gone.
She spotted the bot laying against the wall the lights of the eyes dark. She softened her expression know that he was gone. "Thank you, Cliff," She whispered softly to herself. She glanced up at Gregory as the boy took deep breaths. Both of them were exhausted and in pain. They needed to get back quickly. "Gregory..." The boy turned to face Saphira when she addressed him. "Can you help me stand? I cannot..."
Gregory's eyes go wide suddenly as he gasped at something he saw. "SAPHIRA, LOOK OUT!" The boy shouts, startling the girl from the sheer tone of his voice.
And then someone grabbed the back of her head, and pulled her up roughly to her feet. Saphira shrieked as she did not know what just happened, but the silver eyes glaring at her now told her everything. She didn't even hear him entering the server room, nor did she see him. He was honestly a near master of stealth. He was big and heavy, but he doesn't make much of a noise. Quite the predator.
He was growling at her angrily. "I see you have finally run out of options and so have I!" He tightened his grip, pulling at her hair which made her tense and whimper fearfully in his grasp. "You have damaged so many of my things. But at least the most important things that I want..." He placed his hand on her stomach, making her grimace in disgust. "Are still untouched. I can easily rebuild. My Vanny might be dead, but I have no need of her anymore."
Saphira seemed surprised when Springtrap said that Vanessa was dead. She did not know if that was true, but if the animatronics did get out, they probably showed that woman zero mercy. After all, she had coordinated this with Springtrap willingly. Saphira had once thought she was a reluctant follower, but she showed many of her true colors and Saphira didn't feel sad one bit.
Springtrap moved his hand from her head to her arm and pulled her along firmly. "We haven't much far to go." He raised his other arm and she saw the knife. She didn't know if he had that pressed against her before or nor, but she didn't care. He waved it around and glanced at Gregory as the boy had moved and was staring at him fearfully. "The little orphan boy. If only having your parents killed worked. Oh well."
Springtrap just smirked as he lunged with his mouth open, showing Gregory the corpse face inside the he as d of the suit while his knife was raised. Gregory stepped aside and Springtrap yelled in surprise and lets Saphira go as Gregory had found a dry chemical extinguisher on the ground and he had pulled the pin while Springtrap focused on Saphira. Springtrap roared as his eyes were covered in the chemical.
Saphira didn't wait for Gregory to speak as they both run out of the room. However, without the guidance from Cliff, they had no idea where to go now. Saphira did recognize a little bit, and she was about to head right as the door slammed open. She and Gregory scream as Springtrap grab their arms, not caring if this causes pain to them and then to the right, which happened to lead to an opening where they could not see below.
Springtrap watched as the two humans stumble and they look around, only to realize they were cornered. "That way is the right direction, fools!" He smirked a little as he knew he had them cornered, and they could only walk backwards in fear. However, his patience was thin. He's lost numbers now, and he couldn't torment Gregory and Saphira with the Nightmare versions of the Glamrock animatronics because they found the endo mainframe this time around. Springtrap suddenly ran at them, making Gregory run and he tripped from the metal corner, sending him face first down. "That's better..." He looked at Saphira when he heard her whining from the pain of the contractions. He grabbed her arm again and glared at her. "Despite how impressed I am with what you've managed to achieve since you joined the pizzaplex, you have caused me nothing but trouble." He held the knife up to show her the blade and moving it closer. "I promise that you will experience nothing but pain and suffering!"
He suddenly threw her at the gap, and Saphira caught her footing, only to find herself staring down a mound of garbage. Gregory was at the bottom nursing his arm from the pain. Saphira had first thought she would end up in the room Springtrap had set up as a birthing room for her, but it didn't seem like he wanted her to have that luxury.
She turned to Springtrap just as he backhands her in the same spot as the Nightmare Glamrock Freddy had hit her. This made her fall backwards instinctively to shy away from the hit, only to scream as she hit the mound of rubbing and slid down the mound to the ground. She could see ledges of other areas above the garbage. They were possibly part of the Endo Warehouse, or somewhere else deeper in the underground.
Saphira nursed her cheek as she could feel that it was extremely swollen and bruised. It was even hurting to just blink. Though as she sat up, she looked behind her to see Springtrap jumping onto the mound and walking down the mound. Saphira glanced around, but she could not see anything. The flashlights were gone, and so was the axe. But there was dim lighting coming from the ledges overlooking the trash, and it was enough to give some lighting.
Saphira forced herself to standing, despite the pain she was feeling through her whole body. She glanced around to see where Gregory was, but she couldn't see him, or her eyes were too blurry. Either way, Saphira was already trying to locate a tool to use as a weapon. But they had nothing. Nothing but injuries and Springtrap. His silver eyes glowed brightly in the darkness and he laughed slowly as he reached the bottom of the garbage and eyed the two off. His expression was filled with anger and mockery. It seemed as though he felt he had won.
