Hiccup and Elsa have been working most of the nights to improve Toothless' prosthetic tail fin. They started by making two saddles, one specifically made so that he could stay on Toothless to help him fly.
Why two? Hiccup said it would be a good idea for Elsa to have one as well for Luna, and that he had already made one especially for her so she couldn't say no. Saying that if he was going to be riding Toothless, she should at least ride Luna.
The next morning, Hiccup and Elsa presented the saddles to their dragons, but it ended with Toothless running away from such him a thought while Luna seemed intrigued by the idea.
Hiccup started chasing Toothless, trying to get the saddles on him. While he was doing that, also instructed Elsa how to place it on a calm and accepting Luna.
After nearly an hour of him chasing the dragon, he finally got the saddle on Toothless' back. They then went on separate test flights.
Elsa trying to get used to flying on Luna and Hiccup trying to find a way to control Toothless' tail fin. It seemed to be going well, until Hiccup and Toothless, went flying into the pond. This caused Elsa to come up with the idea of a harness and riding vests.
So, the following night, while the village was asleep, they spent the night making the vests with ropes attached to the saddles to make them more secure. That way, they wouldn't be easily knocked off until they get more used to flying on the dragons.
The next day, both teens and dragons worked on their flight until Hiccup and Toothless once again crash-landed, this time in a grassy field.
Elsa landed Luna on the field and got off her back to check on Hiccup and make sure he was okay. After she finished her quick check-up, they both turned around and saw Luna and Toothless rolling around in the grass in pure bliss.
Elsa picked up some of the grass and sniffed it but had no idea what was with the toe of them. "Smells nice, I guess."
Seeing how much their dragons enjoyed the grass, which gave Hiccup an idea.
At the next dragon training, the teens once again had to face the Gronckle. This time Hiccup snuck into the grass which he called 'dragon nip'.
When the Gronckle charged after Hiccup, he held the dragon nip in front of him, causing the dragon to stop as its pupils widened enjoying the scent.
The other teens, except Astrid, were once again impressed at how Hiccup could easily defeat the dragon. Mildew started to question what the two were doing whilst Gothi was watching him with great interest. The training was also starting to attract the attention of the village.
Even the other teens were starting to hang out with Hiccup more, trying to find out how Hiccup did it. They walked with him as they crossed a bridge and were bombarding Hiccup with questions.
"I left my ax back in the ring. You guys go on ahead. I'll catch up with you." Hiccup said, trying to get away, and nearly runs into Astrid, who seemed a bit suspicious.
Soon, Hiccup made it back to the Cove, where Elsa was giving Luna a scratch up her back and neck. She then scratched under the chin, causing the Light Fury to instantly drop in deep sleep. Out of curiosity, Hiccup did the same with Toothless and got the same result.
"We need to take notes of all this stuff," Elsa said with her brother nodding in agreement.
With all that they were discovering, a lot of things that they thought about dragons were being disproven.
The next day in the Arena, the teens were up against the Deadly Nadder. As the Nadder charged after Hiccup, he dropped his ax, making the Nadder stop.
A battle cry made Hiccup look up and saw Astrid running towards the Nadder with her ax ready. Hiccup quickly started to scratch the Nadder under its chin, trying to find its weak spot.
He found it just in time before Astrid could swing the ax, as the Nadder dropped to the ground causing Astrid to stop and look at her in shock.
That night Elsa and Hiccup went to the Great Hall for dinner. They sat down at a table by themselves, expecting nothing different as the day would normally go when suddenly they were swarmed by all the Vikings, teens, and adults. All that is except for Astrid who was not happy with the turn of events.
The next day, Hiccup and Elsa brought their tools to the Cove to work on Toothless' tail fin and saddle along with Luna's with Elsa's specific adjustments needed.
As they were working on Luna's saddle, Hiccup looked up and saw Toothless chasing a tiny spotlight being reflected from his hammer.
He then moved the hammer, making the light move as well making Toothless chase after it. Elsa, who was watching this, picked her hammer and used it to shine a light on Luna, who started chasing it as well.
"This is honestly pretty fun," Elsa admitted as she and Hiccup kept moving the light before they accidentally crossed paths, causing the two to butt heads.
"Sorry!" Hiccup quickly apologized.
The two didn't seem concerned by this and immediately started to run off while the dragons chase the two, causing them to laugh and run away as they saw this as just a playful chase.
Next dragon training the teens fought against another new dragon. The giant door started to have a blockade lifted, and they expected to see a huge dragon come out.
"Meet the Terrible Terror," Gobber announced.
But instead of a large dragon that they were expecting to see, a small and seemingly harmless dragon came out of the cage.
Tuffnut was the first to comment on this, "Ha! That's like the size of my-"
As if it detected the insult, the Terrible Terror flew onto Tuffnut and started to bite his nose, making the other teens step back.
"AH! GET IT OFF! OH, I'M HURT! I AM VERY MUCH HURT!" Tuffnut yelled in pain.
The dragon then got off Tuffnut and started chasing a spotlight on the ground, created by Hiccup and his shield. It then moved back into the cage with Hiccup behind to close the small door, once again impressing everyone present except for Astrid.
"Wow, he's better than you ever were," Tuffnut said to Astrid as he got back up, rubbing his injured nose.
This made Astrid glare harder as she looks at Hiccup, who had just finished locking the gate.
Angry at Hiccup outshining her, Astrid decided to go to the forest to train and to let out her frustrations. She then got out her ax, did a tuck and roll, and was about to throw it at a tree when she stopped.
Right in front of her were Hiccup and Elsa, with Hiccup carrying something in his arms. Both of them froze for a second, not expecting to run into Astrid, and then ran off.
Astrid tried to follow them, but lost their trail, much to her annoyance and frustration. What she missed was the small entrance that separated the cove from the rest of the forest that Elsa decided to freeze off for good measure. Knowing full well she'll be able to get rid of it when she needed to.
Meanwhile, Hiccup and Elsa made it to Cove where Hiccup was putting on the finishing touches to the Toothless' tail fin and saddle while they ate the barrels of fish.
"What are you doing?" Elsa asked as she got on Luna.
"I'm making a cheat sheet, so I can see which tail position does what." Hiccup said as he tied the rope onto the saddle and hopped on Toothless.
"You love being prepared," Elsa commented.
"I'll take that as a compliment." Hiccup replied and got on Toothless.
As Elsa and Luna flew close by, Hiccup and Toothless worked out the different tail positions while tied to a log. It was all working out fine, until the wind picked up and the rope snapped, causing Hiccup and Toothless to fly backward.
As Hiccup got up, he noticed that his safety hook has been bent. "Oh, great. Um, Elsa? I think we got a problem here."
"What is it?" Elsa asked as she flew over to her brother and saw the problem he had. "Oh. boy."
The hook had been bent to the point Hiccup couldn't remove them from one another without wielding them.
"I could try freezing it." Elsa offered as she raised her hands, and a few snowflakes came off.
"No!" Hiccup quickly denied that. "You do it wrong or too long, you could hurt either me, Toothless, or destroy the saddle. Getting it on him once was hard enough."
"Well..." Elsa sighed as she put her hands down. "What else can we do? I mean, in short of bringing Toothless to the village and fix everything at the forge itself..."
That was a bad suggestion on Elsa's part as she immediately saw Hiccup was thinking that might actually work. Just needed to be extremely careful.
Late at night, back in the village, most of the people have gone to bed. Hiccup and Elsa were leaning against one of the houses, acting casual as a lookout walked by them.
"Hiccup. Elsa." The man greeted.
The kids waved back at him, trying to act as calmly as possible. As soon as the man left, the kids check to make sure no one else was around, and then they walked ahead Hiccup pulling his harness to keep Toothless with them.
"I will have you know that I think this is your stupidest of all of your stupid plans," Elsa informed her brother while Luna was currently invisible and was helping them look out for people. "If we get caught, we will be given a one-way ticket to banishment."
"Well, if you recall, this was your idea." Hiccup reminded her as they quietly made their way to the forge.
"I said that sarcastically," Elsa informed her brother.
When they reached the forge, Toothless stuck his head in a bucket and threw it off, causing a loud noise. The noises immediately caught the attention of Astrid, who just happened to be nearby.
Inside the forge, Elsa and Hiccup work fast to fix the safety hook when suddenly a voice called out to them.
"Hiccup? Elsa? Are you two in there?" Astrid called out.
The two of them froze as they both easily knew who it was, and knew if she caught them, they would be banished and Luna and Toothless executed.
"I'll go." Elsa mouthed back. She then got out of the forge and started to try and talk to Astrid. "Astrid. Hey! How's it going?"
Hiccup who was overhearing this, silently face-palmed. "Bad idea."
"I normally don't care what people do, but you and your brother are acting weird," Astrid said.
Just then Toothless spotted a sheep that froze at the sight of a dragon. This caused Hiccup to be pulled to the back door. Hiccup silently scolded Toothless, trying to get him to stay, as did Luna. Elsa heard the noise and looked at Astrid with a nervous smile.
"Well, weirder," Astrid said, looking at Elsa, knowing that she was hiding something.
Suddenly, Hiccup was pulled out of the forge making a louder noise. Astrid heard this, "What was that?" She said as she tried to walk past Elsa and into the forge. Elsa quickly panicked and tried to stop Astrid.
"Oh, that? That is properly Hiccup...urr...tripping over something." Elsa came up with the most plausible excuse she could. "Yeah, he's properly heading home now, as should you, as should I as it is extremely late." She said as she started to walk away from Astrid. "So, uh yeah, see you around Astrid!"
Elsa then quickly saw Luna and Toothless needed to escape and did the only thing she could think of. She blasted a quick mist of snow at Astrid, causing her to get annoyed and cover her eyes to block the snow.
"Hey!" Astrid cried out as she sipped the snow off her. "What is your..."
But she didn't finish her question when she noticed Elsa was missing, not looking up to notice that she had snuck onto Luna and the two were beside Toothless and Hiccup and on their way back to the cove.
