It took them days of searching, endless flights around the outside of the Archipelago for a home.
But the four of them then found something that resembled a good spot to call home. Flying around for any dangerous dragons, they saw that it was clean.
Then taking a further look around, there were no giant caverns for any Deathsongs to hide in. There was no tunneling to show Whispering Death.
This seemed like a good spot that was safe for both them and the dragons.
"This looks pretty good." Hiccup tried not to jinx them.
"Those cliffs could work," Heather commented, looking at the strategical side of things. "Good sight lines, easily defendable."
"And a lot of clear spaces for us to build ourselves a home," Elsa commented as she looked at a clearing near the shoreline. "It's perfect."
"Yeah, too perfect," Olaf said ominously, currently flying on Luna's back.
Hiccup never heard that tone before and looked over at him. "What are you talking about, Olaf?"
"I'm just saying, in the words of someone great, when something is too perfect, it probably is." Olaf quoted someone, none of them knowing where he got that from.
"Uh, pretty sure that's not a quote," Elsa informed the snowman.
"Also, you've only been alive for a short while," Heather commented, flying close to Luna. "Pretty sure you don't have enough life experience to understand stuff like this."
"Heather's right." Hiccup agreed with her. "Trust us, Olaf. It'll all make sense when you're older."
They then flew down onto the clearing to get a closer look at it.
When they took a look around and saw there wasn't anything wrong, they dumped their loads for the night. Happy that they might finally start to make a home for themselves now.
"Okay, the first thing that we need to do is set up camp for the night." Hiccup told the girls and the snowman. "We need dry wood for the fire, we need fresh water., and someone on traps for wild dragons."
"I'll take care of the wood with Windshear," Heather promised and strolled off into the woods. "Should be a quick and easy task. Come on, girl."
"I'll take care of the water," Elsa promised, walking off to find a shore.
The ice takes forever to melt, which is why she didn't just use her powers. But she learned a trick to quickly get it to melt but would rather do it over a body of water to not hurt others.
"Okay, that leaves us on putting down traps." Hiccup said, he and Toothless walking off.
Things seemed to go smoothly the rest of the day. They managed to set up camp for the night and Elsa managed to catch some fish while getting the water. Luna helped out as well on both occasions.
As the night passed, they were expecting something to go wrong, for something to come and starch them or their dragons. But to their surprise, nothing happened.
"Anyone else on edge on the fact nothing's happening?" Elsa asks, feeling something is wrong.
"I think we're too used to things going wrong." Hiccup admitted, feeling off the edge as well.
"Wow. You guys grew up terribly if this is how things went for you." Heather never really saw the damage to them growing up to this extent. Waiting for something to go wrong for them. "I mean, at least to this extent."
"Well, maybe things are finally turning our way." Elsa shrugged, feeling things are finally changing for them.
As the night started to take over, the group fell asleep in peace. But then some noise awakened the poor snowman.
"What was that?" Olaf asked as he looked around the campsite.
Wondering what the noise was, Olaf started to wander off through the forest, looking around for the noise. He was beginning to notice he might've gone too far from the group. Trying to make his way back was a chore as everything looked the same at night.
"Heather? Elsa? Hiccup? Luna? Toothless? Windshear? Samantha?" Olaf called out while leaning against a tree before bursting out laughing. "Hehe, I don't even know a Samantha!"
Olaf laughed at his joke as suddenly a pile of leaves moved up Olaf and vanished.
The snowman stood still for a few seconds as he looked afraid as to what just occurred before smiling as if nothing happened. Then the pile of leaves fell on him, and Olaf just stood there completely oblivious and not concerned.
"That's normal," Olaf stated as he waded through the pile.
A rock fell in front of him, causing the snowman to trip and his body fell apart. Quickly getting off the ground, Olaf started to look around and missed the small creatures flying around.
Olaf stood in the center of a clearing as a few figures flew by, trying not to bring attention to themselves. One then zipped behind Olaf, and he turned to see what it was just to miss it.
"What was that?" Olaf questioned while looking at the sky.
Olaf then looked and noticed a hole in the ground, starting to peer into it. "Samantha?"
The snowman then looked all around him, wondering what was happening around him. But then starts to cheer himself back up by singing a song to himself.
"This will all make sense when I am older." Olaf began to sing to try and calm himself. He looked back and noticed there was a small fire that was bouncing from tree to tree. "Someday, I will see that this makes sense. One day, when I'm old and wise, I'll look back and realize that these were all completely normal events."
Olaf then started to bounce as the spark ran up behind him and then under him, causing Olaf to jump and screech.
"I'll have all answers when I'm older, like why we're in these woods alone."
Olaf crawled through a thicket of twisted branches and pulled a thorn out from his back. Then he entered dark of the woods that looked old and currently in use as he made it into a cave.
"I know in a couple of years; these will seem like childish fears." Olaf sang while making his way out. "So, I know this isn't bad, it's good."
Several red glowing eyes appeared behind the snowman as he left the cave.
"Excuse me..." Olaf muttered, walking out of the cave.
"Growing up means adapting. Puzzling at your world and your place."
Olaf continued to stroll through the woods as the fire sparked bounced around him.
"When I'm more mature, I'll feel totally secure. Being watched by something with a creepy, creepy face."
Olaf look down into a pond when he looked and noticed a few creatures flying toward him.
This event ended up making Olaf run away in fear and that's where different types of creatures tried to attack the snowman but kept on missing before Olaf was tossed into a pit, putting him into pieces.
"See, that will all make sense when I am older. So, there's no need to be terrified or tense." Olaf sang as he reassembled his body back together and pull himself out. "I'll just dream about a time when I'm in my aged prime. 'Cause when you're older, absolutely everything makes s-s-s-e-e-e-n-n-n-n-s-s-s-s-e-e-e-e-e!"
But then he missed when a gigantic creature flew out of the woods and looked down at the snowman.
"This is fine," Olaf reassured himself.
But then the giant creature let out a roar, causing Olaf to look back and noticed that it was a ginormous dragon.
As the group was resting at the campsite, they were awakened by the screaming of Olaf.
Jumping to their feet, they wondered what happened as Olaf came running out of the woods. He was covered with twigs and leaves on his snowy body as well as several of his body pieces were out of place.
"Oh, I'm out of shape." Olaf sighed as he quickly changed back to normal.
"Olaf, what's wrong?" Elsa asked as she approached the snowman.
"Leaves...dragon...scream...scary woods..." Olaf tried to explain while heavily breathing from the running.
"How is he out of breath?" Heather muttered to herself. "He doesn't have lungs."
"You're saying you saw a dragon made of leaves?" Hiccup clarified with the snowman.
"What?" Olaf asked. "No! I saw a giant dragon in the woods!"
Heather yawned, rubbing her eyes. "Are you sure you didn't just have a bad dream, Olaf?"
"No, it wasn't a dream!" Olaf cried.
Hiccup sighed and knew this wasn't going to go away. "Okay, let's just check this out and see what he saw."
They walked through the forest and followed Olaf to where he saw the so-called dragon. They were a little behind the energetic snowman as they were all still tired.
"Okay, now, be ready. This will blow your minds!" Olaf said as they made it to the clearing. "And... there it is!"
But when the snowman moved the bushes out of the way, all that was unveiled was a chicken. The said chicken clucked and looked at them in confusion.
"Are you sure you didn't see a normal dragon and it just looked big?" Elsa asked Olaf.
"What?" Olaf asked as he thought of it. "Well, that is a fair assumption."
"We'll see if we can find our more tomorrow, Olaf." Heather yawned, wanting to get back to sleep.
"She's right, buddy." Hiccup agreed and walked off. "We've been flying for days. We need. A good night's sleep to get to work."
Elsa knew they were tired and kneeled to the snowman. "We're all exhausted, Olaf. I'm guessing that you just saw an illusion."
"What's an illusion?" Olaf wonders.
"It's...something that your eyes tricked you into seeing." Elsa did her best to simplify it to the snowman. "Come on."
She then left the snowman and made her way back to the campsite where they went to sleep. Olaf however looked down at the chicken and wondered.
"Did you see anything?" Olaf asked them.
The chicken clucked as a response.
When the sun rose on the dawn of a new day, Hiccup simultaneously awoke with Elsa and Heather. They ate some fish that they had caught the other night and knew they needed to work on their home.
"Okay, so we need to start working on a design for our new home." Hiccup said as he approached the girls.
"Well, it's gonna be a bit difficult for the three of us," Elsa admitted.
"Yeah, getting the three of us on board with one design." Heather agreed.
"Hm." Hiccup started to think of something to help with that. "How about this...we all work on some ideas of what to add to the home and we'll build from there?"
"That's not a bad idea." Heather agreed.
"Yeah, I can get behind that." Elsa agreed.
"Alright, but...where's Olaf?" Hiccup wondered as he looked around.
Elsa didn't even realize he was gone and smacked herself for forgetting him. "Great. You guys work on the outpost ideas, I'll go looking for the snowman."
"That's for the best." Heather shrugged as Elsa called for Luna.
"I'll be back in a while," Elsa said as she mounted her dragon. "Do something other than make out while I'm gone."
"Really?" Hiccup couldn't believe she said that.
"Just a warning," Elsa said as she then took off to the skies.
"She's right," Heather said seductively. "We should really do more than make out."
Hiccup couldn't tell if she was joking or not and became uncomfortable. "Are you doing this just to make me blush?"
"It's just too easy," Heather said as she then walked off. "Come on, our home isn't gonna build itself."
Olaf was currently looking through the woods, believing that the dragon wasn't an illusion as Elsa put it. He believes he actually saw something and wanted to find it. He walked off after breakfast and the chicken from last night seemed to join him.
"Alright, giant scary dragon. You can run, but you can't hide." Olaf proclaimed as he waddled through the forest. "Well, I guess you can still fly. And run. But you can't hide from-"
And before he finished that statement, he walked off of a cliff and began screaming. When he smacked into the sandy beach, he groaned in pain.
He was still determined to find it when he made his way back up.
"I will not give up my search!" Olaf cried as he marched forward, despite the fact he had leaves and twigs stuck to his head and side. "I will find this drag-Ahh!"
He ended up falling off another side of the island nearby and smashed into the beach again.
"Why does an island have so many cliffs?!" Olaf asks.
As he was falling, he actually ended up plopping onto the back of Luna. Holding him in her hands was Elsa as she was just looking for Olaf when he fell.
"Olaf." Elsa greeted him. "Did you go looking for that dragon?"
"Yeah." Olaf was sorry to admit.
Elsa sighed and knew there had to be something for Olaf to risk his life. "We're not expected for a while. How about we keep looking?"
"Really?" Olaf asks.
"Yeah," Elsa confirmed and flew Luna into the air.
After some time, the two of them continued to look for this supposed dragon. But after three hours and the sun beginning to set, Olaf starting to follow asleep, Luna becoming tired, Elsa had to admit things didn't seem right.
"I'm sorry, Olaf, but it doesn't seem to be any sign of your dragon." Elsa sighed.
Olaf however didn't answer as he was currently snoring on her back.
"Yep, time to call it a night, girl." Elsa looked down at Luna. "Let's head back-"
Before she could finish, a roar interrupted her and a giant dragon emerged from the forest. Flying around them, it headed for the shore where Hiccup and Heather were currently resting.
"Oh, my Thor..." Elsa said in shock.
"Ha! It wasn't a humiliation!" Olaf cheered.
"Hallucination." Elsa quickly corrected him before becoming worried. "It's heading for the campsite! We can't let it find the others asleep!"
Luna immediately leaped into action, the dragon flying them off as fast as it could towards the dragon. The giant dragon stopped and noticed the Light Fury coming toward them. Luna sent out a blast while Elsa shot out ice mist at the creature.
But the moment that they made an impact, they were shocked when the dragon separated and scattered.
"What?" Elsa asked when she noticed what the dragon was. "It's not one big dragon, it's a bunch of little ones."
Then they looked and noticed a white version of them screech, calling out to the others.
"They're joining up around the white one." Olaf took notice.
"It must be the leader." Elsa took a guess.
Seems that Luna took that as some sort of order and she quickly shot out a blast at the white one. When it was hit, Elsa acted fast and created a net to catch it. Deciding to make sure it was at least alright before releasing it, they flew back to camp.
When Heather and Hiccup got a look at the creature, they were amazed at the new dragon.
"It looks sort of like a Terrible Terror." Hiccup commented.
"But...bigger and a bit meaner," Heather added on.
"And it seems they're nocturnal," Elsa commented as they didn't show up at all during the day.
Olaf just looked confused at the word.
"They...they come out at night." Hiccup explains to the snowman.
"Oh, okay." Olaf understood.
"And there's a million more just like him out there?" Heather asks Elsa.
"Yeah, it's like they use a giant version of themselves as some sort of defense mechanism." Elsa did her best to explain.
"I say we call them Night Terrors." Hiccup commented.
"Sounds good to me." Elsa shrugged.
But then they heard a roar in the forest, giving them a bad feeling. Looking down, the Night Terror screeched in worry.
"We should check that out," Elsa commented.
"I'll stay here and keep an eye on our friend here," Heather told them, making sure that the Night Terror was okay.
They all rushed to their dragons and flew off to find out what the noise was coming from. When they flew out, they could all the smaller dragons were being attacked by Changewings.
"Changewings?!" Elsa asked in shock, Luna quickly shooting at them.
"What are they doing here?" Hiccup wondered as Toothless helped out to hold them off.
"Doesn't matter, they're not staying long!" Elsa cried as she blasted a mist that scared the Changewings. "That's the last we'll see of them."
Hiccup then noticed something and pulled out his spyglass. Looking out into the distance, he saw that more Changewings were coming.
"Uh, but what about those guys?" Hiccup asks. "A lot more Changewings inbound."
"What do we do?" Elsa wonders.
Hiccup thought of it and had an idea. "The Night Terrors. As you said, it must be a way that they scare off predators."
"Okay, so what do we do now?" Elsa wonders.
"I'll fly back, hope he's okay with Heather. You hold them back." Hiccup says and they split up.
Elsa quickly worked and blasted a cloud of mist to shield herself and the Night Terrors.
Hiccup flew back to camp and saw Heather was wrapping up part of the white Night Terror's stomach.
"Hey, what's going on?" Heather asks.
"We need the Night Terror. Changewings are coming." Hiccup quickly explained their situation.
"Of course there is." Heather sighed as she finished wrapping the bandage. "Well, he should be fine."
The Night Terror then stood up and screeched at the two before flying off.
"Yep, we deserved that." Hiccup admitted.
Elsa was able to hold the Changewings back until the Terrors were able to form back and scare off the Changewings.
After a few days, they were starting to build their home and had come to a decision. They decided to make their home separate locations that were still interconnected.
Heather made hers as a place of healing and protection. Hiccup created a home that was also able to double as a blacksmith shop for the group to be able to make things.
Elsa managed to build a home for herself that was completely made out of ice. Going crazy with her powers to create her own home. Olaf also shared a home with Elsa as it was the coldest spot on the island.
In the process of making their home, they also created outposts and places for the Night Terrors and other dragons. But in the middle of the night one time, they were shocked when they noticed the dragons surrounding Toothless.
"What are they doing?" Heather wonders.
"I have no idea," Hiccup says as he crossed his arms.
The Night Terrors then flew into the air and formed a giant version of Toothless. Toothless seemed to be flattered as he tried to copy their movement.
But it seems that wasn't the only surprise when Toothless let out a roar. To their shock, several dragons were coming in for a landing.
A Deadly Nadder, Monstrous Nightmare, Gronckle, and Zippleback, and even a Terrible Terror. When they took a closer look at the dragons, they noticed a connection.
"Wait...aren't these the dragons from Berk?" Elsa asks.
"I think they are." Hiccup agreed as he scratched the Nightmare's chin.
"These were the dragons you guys used for training?" Heather asks as she petted the Nadder.
"Not anymore," Elsa said, seeing that they now had a home for the mistreated dragons.
