Things were...hard when they returned to the Edge. Setting up a new home for the new members of the family, was more fun than it was hard. But things were hard when they needed to clear out the stuff that once belonged to their snowman to help clear the space. But they also had some time as Elsa wanted to bring Anna to Berk so that she could show her around where she grew up.
When they returned, they moved Dak and Leyla into their own homes, and Anna was given a hut next to them to stay close. It was a little difficult with all of their different style of dragons.
Seems that everyone was trying to figure out what they were going to do next to go up against the Dragon Hunters. Hiccup was looking into the Dragon Eye and was working on a few different variations.
Hiccup didn't want to be unprepared the next time they come across another dragon they'd never seen before. He needed to know everything that the Dragon Eye had to offer so that they knew what the next kind of dragon was. And to see if there was anything in it that could help them go up against the Dragon Hunters themselves.
"Okay, give me a slow burn, Bud." Hiccup asks his dragon, who did exactly that. A familiar glow came down the Dragon Eye and Hiccup saw the same stuff regarding the Dragon Hunters on it. "Okay, seen this before." Then he looked at the dials that were on the front of it. "What happens when I..." then he clicked on the Monstrous Nightmare and for a different dragon class. "Ooh, Dragon classes. What do you say we check out the Night Fury, Bud?"
Toothless rolled his eyes as he looked away and laid back down.
"Try to contain your excitement, would you?" Hiccup asked sarcastically, wondering what Toothless is saying now as he laughed. He knows the twins and Anna could understand them, but he never really asked them to translate. "Let's see, Monstrous Nightmare gem plus Night Fury equals.." then the Dragon Eye seemed to shut down as there was no translation for that. "Nothing!" He then reset it and went to look for another combination. "Okay..." then when he reset it, his door opened and Leyla was blinded by the light. "Ooh, Leyla class."
"Uh...what?" Leyla asks as Hiccup puts the Dragon Eye down.
"Nothing." Hiccup shrugged as he wondered how they're fitting in. "You guys settling in okay?"
"Um...yeah, I guess." Leyla started to play with her braid and blushed a little. "It's just been a while since we've had a nest."
Hiccup knew that was what she and they called home, but it was still strange to hear a kid call home a nest. "Well, it's been nice having you guys around."
Leyla was looking and saw the Dragon Eye on his desk. "So, what is this?"
"Oh, this is the Dragon Eye. It has a lot of information about different kinds of dragon species we've never seen before." Hiccup explains and then showed her how it works. "I've just haven't had much time to go over it with everything that's been happening lately."
"Huh." Leyla looked over it and used one of the dials and looked it over. "It's incredible. I just wrote down everything that we discovered on different dragons we've come across in a dragon diary."
"Really?" Hiccup asked with a smile. "A dragon diary?"
"Yeah, it was to help us remember things so that we could survive out there," Leyla explains and noticed the confusion on his face. "Just because we can understand dragons doesn't mean they're all friendly."
"Huh, seems like something you'd be interested in, Bud?" Hiccup asks as he looked at Toothless.
Toothless however growled and stayed on the ground. Hiccup looked to Leyla to see if she could translate.
"What'd he say?" Hiccup wonders.
"Nothing," Leyla admitted and saw Hiccup was a little confused. "We've come across a few dragons that were mute, don't say anything."
Hiccup shrugged and understood that statement. "Fair enough." They then heard explosions out of the hut and decided to quickly check that out. "You can stick back and look over the Eye. I'm gonna check out what they're doing."
"Sure." Leyla was curious about the Eye as Toothless followed him.
Hiccup walked out and saw the group inside the open Clubhouse which was open and others were shooting at it. He wondered what they were doing when he saw Gobber and Fishlegs talking in the middle of the destruction. Then it started to help when he saw they were shooting at a practice dummy.
"Don't worry." Heather strolled over to him and looked down as she crossed her arms. "They're trying out some new batch of Gronckle Iron that Fishlegs got from the Hunters."
"Oh, right. That would be useful." Hiccup admitted as he crossed his arms. "Elsa and Anna?"
"Still away on Berk." Heather sighed and looked over to see Dak and Winger cheering as they went in to shoot the target dummy. "It's so weird. A while ago, it was just Anna we were looking for. Then we just happened to run into her with these kids."
"Yeah, a little odd." Hiccup had to admit.
"Yeah, now we've got a few other kids running around other than the Night Lights." Heather chuckled as she looked over to the Night Lights. They were playing around with Cutter, who was trying to rest on the porch. "And they seem to be taking a liking to Cutter."
"Okay, you guys are cute, but you're a little too much for my liking," Cutter admitted as he tried to free himself. "Come on, ow! Hey, which one bit my tail? Don't all of you have gums?"
That's when they looked down and noticed that they saw Tuffnut stumbling out of the woods. They were a little curious about where he was as they haven't seen him since the other night. And he didn't seem like he did much sleep as he was stumbling and mumbling to himself.
"Thank Loki!" Tuffnut said, not noticing Dak coming with Winger to shoot the dummy. "You guys are not gonna believe-" He was then dropped when the dummy fell from Winger's blast. "We'll talk in a little bit."
Wondering what was going on, they decided to bring a Tuffnut to the eating area so that they could talk. It took a moment for the guy to wake up after getting hit that hard in the head, but when he did, he had quite the story to tell.
"There I was, me and my inner nut," Tuffnut muttered to himself.
"Tuff, what happened out there?" Hiccup asks him.
"It was dark." Tuffnut got back into his tale. "So dark, Hiccup, not even the moon to light my merry way." He pulled Hiccup close and gestured around the air like the sky. "And then all of a sudden, out of the darkness, red eyes, ferocious teeth, a growl that could peel the beak off a chicken!"
Then chicken began to cluck in fear and worry.
"Sorry. Metaphor." Tuffnut assured the snowman's only friend. Then he grabbed the chicken and started to shake her around. "It grabbed me and tossed me around like a rag doll, a very handsome rag doll. And then, it left me for dead."
Burple started to shake and became worried, whilst the other dragons didn't seem as spooked by the tale. Dak and Leyla noticed the worried look and tried to comfort him, being the only ones who know how sensible he is.
"Tuff, can you tell us anything else about what attacked you?" Fishlegs asks of him.
"It was far too fast." Tuffnut was sorry to say as he started to picture it. "Too cagey, too quick...give me another adjective."
"Uh...swift?" Leyla went with the first one that came to her.
"I've got a better one. How about imaginary?" Snotlout asked sarcastically, causing the rest of them to chuckle out of the joke.
Tuffnut however wasn't amused as he didn't seem to find it funny. "Laugh and guffaw, if you must." Then he reached up and showed off his forearm. "But would an imaginary creature give you one of these?!"
That's when they noticed there was actually a bite mark on his arm and they saw this was serious. The chicken clucked and squawked when she saw the bite.
That's when they decided to start taking the rest of the day to try and look over the bite to see what matched their knowledge. But it seemed that after a day of searching, there was no dragon with the bite that matched the bite mark that matched the one that Tuffnut had. Hiccup was using the Dragon Eye to try and Fishlegs was searching Borg's papers whilst Leyla offered to help by using her dragon diary.
"I can't find anything that matches this marking in Borg's papers," Fishlegs tells them.
"And nothing in the Dragon Eye comes close." Hiccup admitted as he saw it was pointless.
"We haven't come across anything like that in my dragon diary." Leyla was sorry to say as she closed her book.
"Heh." Gobber got their attention, and they saw he was picking his ear. "It won't be in any of those."
Gobber?" Hiccup was wondering what he was trying to say.
"It's obvious we're all thinking the same thing." Gobber scoffed as he thought they were.
"Uh, I can pretty much guarantee you we're not." Hiccup informed his teacher. "Care to elaborate?"
"Lycanwing," Gobber stated, seeing the confusing response. "The Lycanwing Dragon is a rare beast, and a vicious one at that." He then started to circle the group as they listened to his story. "Those who survive its attack, aren't actually survivors. For they are doomed to a life as a half man, half Lycanwing. For every full moon, the condemned Viking is transformed into a terrifying dragon! Wings the side of a house, teeth stronger than Gronckle iron. And a thirst...for blood!"
Most of the younger dragons screeched in fear, followed by Tuffnut and even Chicken clucked in fear. Hiccup had to hold his ears from the sudden screech but then started to try and calm them down.
"Guys, guys, relax, the Lycanwing is just a legend. It's not a real dragon." Hiccup quickly reassured them.
"Yeah, meaning they're just stories meant to scare people." Leyla tried to calm her friends down.
"Well, it worked!" Burple shuttered in fear.
"Look, Gobber, have you ever seen a Lycanwing?" Hiccup asks the Berk resident.
"No," Gobber admits freely.
"Has anyone on Berk seen a Lycanwing?" Hiccup asks his friends.
All of them thought of it and started to see his thinking. Gobber also confirmed nobody has ever seen one on Berk.
"I rest my case." Hiccup stated with a sigh.
"But the stories..." Gobber started to tremble. "They'll straighten the hairs on a curly-haired yak."
Then it seems during dinner, Gobber decided to entertain everyone with his tales as they sat outside. He stood over everyone as they sat back and were finishing up their food. A torch in his hands as he waved it around to set the mood.
"His name was Kessler!" Gobber started as he got a little close to Dak.
"That's a weird name!" Dak admitted as he freaked out a little.
"Weird kid," Gobber said as he got back to the story. "Bright red hair, eyes as black as night. And naught as a Nadder in a chicken coop."
"How naughty is that?" Winger wonders as he and the others were eating just a small distance from them.
"Very." Summer summarized it for him.
"One night, little Kessler, against his parents' wishes, went exploring in the forest." Gobber set the story up.
"Don't go into the forest!" Burple cried in terror.
"Days went by, no sign of him." Gobber kept going as he leaned closer to Fishlegs as he whispered. "Only a faraway scream coming from the woods." He then backed away and turned to face the other way. "The little bugger never returned." Then he spun second a en screamed at everyone, causing them to scream in surprise. "Or did he?! Every year from then on, when little Kessler's birthday rolled around, a red black-eyed dragon would fly over his parent's house, and pluck off one of their sheep right out of the paddock! The dragon would look back, taunting them." Then he calmed off on the scary look and smiled. "But I wouldn't worry, Tuffnut. You're not exhibiting any symptoms."
Snotlout decided however to have some fun with him. "Hey, hey, hey. Can we really say for sure what our pal Tuffnut is exhibiting? Come on, Gobber lay them on us. Just for the sake of argument."
"I don't think that's a good idea," Ruffnut replied in anger towards Snotlout.
"Well, first off you would be very sensitive to light." Gobber listed one of the symptoms.
"Aren't you always telling me that it hurts your head when you look into the sun?" Snotlout asks Tuffnut.
Tuffnut thought about it as he admitted that was true. "Yea, I did say that." Then he looked at the fire they were cooking their food on. He flinched and looked away in pain. "Ahh!"
"Unquenchable thirst." Gobber continued.
Tuffnut then started to slurp on air and licked his hands. Seems his tongue was starting to become dry. Snotlout was just having some more fun and smiled when he saw this.
"You look thirsty." Snotlout noticed.
"Hey!" Ruffnut quickly shut his mouth. "He always looks thirsty."
"What else, Gobber?" Snotlout asks as he turned to face him. "There's gotta be more than that."
"Fidgety arms, on account of the wings starting to sprout." Gobber continued the symptoms.
On that remark, Tuffnut started to wave his elbows around and even smacked Ruffnut in the face. She fell backward and groaned when she crawled up to the seat.
"Watch it, would ya?" Ruffnut asks him.
"Gee, sorry, I'm fidgety." Tuffnut apologized as he looked at his arms in worry.
"Finally, the overwhelming desire to eat fresh fish." Gobber finishes the list.
And just like that, Tuffnut ran from his seat and towards the dragon feeding area and immediately slammed his face into the food. The dragons all backed away as they watched him try and munch on the fish.
"Is this conquered normal?" Winger asks the others.
"Actually, this is toned down," Stormfly admitted as she was resting nearby.
"This is toned down?" Summer asks in surprise as she looked at Tuffnut.
Tuffnut then came back up from the fish and took several bites from the basket. "That tastes horrible!"
And with that, he ran off into the night and left the others in worry. At least some of them were worried. There was still Snotlout who was laughing at what he was watching and Ruffnut was in anger.
"What an idiot." Snotlout mocked the reaction.
"You have no idea what you've done!" Ruffnut promises him.
Later on, they were all around the campfire in the main hut with Gobber in the guest hut they made. He was on his way back to Berk with the secret to Gronckle Iron and it could be something that could help the people defend themselves without dragons. Hiccup was seeing what Leyla was able to figure out with the Dragon Eye and he was impressed by how much she caught onto it. The others were just sitting around when they then noticed Tuffnut was making his way in with a wooden cart.
None of them knew what he was doing when Tuff made his way over to Snotlout and held out his favorite mace. "Snotlout, I give to you Macey. Hold her dearly She likes to sit by the window and watch the moon. The full moon. Ironic."
"Oh, my Thor. That's so thoughtful." Snotlout says as he then tossed it behind him.
Tuffnut then made his way over to Fishlegs and gave him a bowl. "Fishlegs, I give to you my favorite bowl."
Fishlegs looked it over and recognized the design and Meatlug's face on it. "Hey, it's my bowl!"
"And now, now you have found it," Tuffnut said in a sympathetic tone. "Eat well, my friend. Eat well." Then he took off and made his way over to Hiccup, who wasn't around during the whole storytelling and has no idea what was going on. "Hiccup. Hiccup. Hiccup. What do you give to the Viking that has everything?"
Ruffnut was sitting nearby and was then grabbed and picked up by Tuffnut. "Hey! You can't give me away."
"Here," Tuffnut said as he moved Ruffnut closer to Hiccup, who was only getting more lost. "In time, she will come to you. She's going to take this very hard and will certainly go through a prolonged mourning period. She's going to need a new twin brother."
"I'm not sure that's how it works," Leyla said from the other side of Hiccup.
"Nevertheless, I nominate you, Hiccup," Tuffnut said as he placed a hand on Hiccup's shoulder. "It's a terrible job and she smells horrible, You'll have to dress like me and grow your hair out long. So, there are perks."
"Alright, alright." Hiccup tried to catch up as Tuffnut walked away. "What did I miss?"
"I'm just...preparing myself," Tuffnut said as he looked out into the night.
"For what?" Heather asks him.
"Heather, have you seen that moon?" Tuffnut asks as he looked out to the moon currently in the Waxing Gibbous phase. "When it rises to its apex, which I think is a word that means the tip-top, I'm going full dragon! Tuffnut Lycanwing!" Snotlout laughed and Tuffnut came into his face. "You're a funny guy, Snotlout. I'll eat you first."
Hiccup was having enough of this and wondered why things like this happen when Elsa is gone. "Tuff, we went over this. The Lycanwing is just a legend. Fishlegs, tell him."
Fishlegs just ended up whimpering and not responding, either spooked by Gobber or believing the stories himself.
"Now I must go and say my most difficult goodbye," Tuffnut stated as he walked off towards the stables to see Barf and Belch.
"Should we do something about that?" Leyla asks the others.
"Not much we can do." Heather was sorry to tell her.
Snotlout laughed as Ruffnut marched over towards him in anger. "What did I tell you? What did I tell you?! You're gonna help me fix this, Snotlout, you hear me?!"
Snotlout didn't see what he did wrong and watched her storm off. "Wow, they really get riled up, don't they?"
Hiccup facepalms himself and sighed in annoyance.
When they found Tuffnut, he had locked himself up in the stables convinced that he will soon transform. None of them had any luck trying to get him out or even talking to him. Ruffnut and Snotlout were missing for most of the night, so none of them really knew what to do to get through to him.
Gobber was their last hope, and even he made his way out of the stables in defeat. "Well, I tried at it all night, but he ain't budging. He's not talking to anyone but that chicken. And he's convinced the moon didn't apex last night, so it must be tonight."
"Talk to me, chicken, talk to me. What are they saying?" Tuffnut asks from within his cell.
"Well, that's just great." Hiccup sighed as he rubbed his face.
"You think when he's a dragon, he'll be hungry for dragon?" Burple asked in fear as he hid behind Winger.
"I don't see it likely," Winger admitted. "If anything, he'll go after the riders. The sheep. The yaks. We're the only ones safe."
"I say we pack and book it before the sun sets," Dak stated as he was now becoming afraid.
Then they heard Hookfang screech and looked upward to see him with Ruffnut on his back. "Is that..."
"Ruffnut. Flying Hookfang?" Hiccup was confused.
"Where's Snotlout?" Heather was curious to know.
Gobber got a better look and he noticed Snotlout was there. "There he is. The big lump behind her. Tear-stained face."
Hookfang then crash-landed by the stables and groaned. "All night..."
"What a rough one," Ruffnut commented as she got to her feet.
"You okay?" Winger asks the dragon.
"She had us out there...all...night!" Hookfang repeated with a snarl as he puffed smoke at Ruffnut and ran away.
"What...what are you two doing?" Hiccup asks the two of them. "We could use you now."
Ruffnut dragged Snotlout over where she showed he was bit constantly. "We were collecting samples."
"Samples of what?" Heather wonders.
"Dragon bites," Ruffnut explains as she showed them all. "One of these has to match Tuff's, and convince him that this Lycanwing deal is just another one of his paranoid fantasies."
"And why is Snotlout...?" Hiccup curiously asks.
"He started this with his stupid, yet sinister, powers of suggestion," Ruffnut explains why Snotlout was the one suffering. "It's all Snotlout's fault that my dopey brother thinks he's turning into a dragon."
Hiccup had to admit that was a fair point and crossed his arms. 'Looks like you earned this one, Snotlout."
"Not so funny now, is it?" Ruffnut asks him.
"No, Ruffnut." Snotlout whimpered out.
"Let's go, pal." Ruffnut dragged him off into the stables.
"Hey, Hiccup!" Leyla called as she came flying in on the back of Summer.
Hiccup turned to face the girl and wondered what was going on. "Leyla, you alright?"
"Well, it depends on what you call alright," Leyla said as she looked around. "Where's Cutter?"
And almost on question, Cutter came running by them and stopped as he saw the group. "Somebody help! I think these kids are starting to teeth on my spikes!" Then he heard a screech and saw that the Night Lights were heading right for him. "Oh, no! They're coming back!"
Cutter then ran away whilst the Night Lights came past them, heading straight for Cutter as everyone just watched. The kids were capable of keeping up due to their small flight paths they take with their slowly capable wings.
"Seems the Night Lights are taking a liking to him." Hiccup commented and looked at Leyla. "You were saying?"
"Right. Well, I was messing around with the Dragon Eye, and you won't believe what I found!" Leyla said as she showed the Dragon Eye, which was still glowing as it wasn't turned off yet. "You've got to see it."
Hiccup took Leyla and Fishlegs to the eating area where they closed the doors so they could get complete darkness. Leyla then activated the Dragon Eye again and showed them what she discovered. It was the layout of what appears to be a man with wings instead of arms.
"Uh..." Fishlegs was shocked at what he was seeing. "Is that...?"
"A man with with dragon wings instead of arms." Hiccup confirmed they were seeing the same thing.
"I thought the same thing." Leyla was glad to see they saw the same thing. "But then watch this," then she switched the Dragon Eye dial and the man now appeared to have a tail. "And here he is again."
"Fishlegs, you think you can translate?" Hiccup asks his friend.
Fishlegs started to try and translate what he saw. "No man shall tread on these shores, lest he becomes what he has lost feared."
"That must be Lycanwing Island." Leyla took a guess when she gestured to the layout of an island.
"And that, dear friends, is why we always listen to Gobber." Hiccup stated.
"So, does this mean the Lycanwing isn't a myth?" Summer asks in curiousness.
"It could be," Leyla admitted she wasn't sure herself.
"That island isn't far from here." Hiccup noticed the location and then looked towards Fishlegs.
Fishlegs however whimpered in fear when he noticed the look on his friend's face. "Why do I have a feeling we're going on a little Hiccup-Fishlegs recon mission?"
"You think I could tag along?" Leyla offered her assistance to the two. "I mean, you might need me if these Lycanwings don't speak the same language anymore."
"I don't think that's a good idea." Hiccup wasn't sure how to answer that as he didn't want to bring someone young into a dangerous situation. "I think you should stay here with the others."
"Come on, I survived this long on my own with Anna and Dak." Leyla defended as she crossed her arms. "I can handle myself and help you guys. Let me help."
Hiccup looked to Fishlegs and knew he would be helpful with the dragon's stuff, but he wouldn't be much in the situation. And Leyla did indeed survive against a lot of dangerous situations, so it could be useful to have her help. Especially if she could help with the dragons there.
"Okay. But if Anna or Elsa ask, you were relentless until I agreed." Hiccup compromised.
"They'd believe that." Summer stated with a chuckle.
They made their way to the stables where they grabbed a few supplies and got ready to head out. By the time they were ready, it was already pitch black outside and the moon was high in the sky. They just needed to be quick and scout the area so they could figure out if this Lycanwing myth was real.
"Okay, so, guys, in case we do happen to come across a Lycanwing, we need a really good plan." Hiccup told the two of them.
"I say...don't get bit." Leyla offered as a plan. "Simple and to the point."
"That sounds like a good one to me." Fishlegs agreed with her.
"Yep, me too." Hiccup agreed as they and their dragons started to head out. "Lycanwing Island. Here we come."
As they started to head out, they missed that Tuffnut was still in one of the stables and overheard everything. The chicken was also on top of his head and he popped up after he saw the three of them left.
"Lycanwing Island?" Tuffnut was shocked to hear this as he looked up at the chicken. "Okay, don't tell anyone, but I didn't actually believe it before. I was just trying to mess with their heads." Chicken then flew off his head and listened. "You know, be quirky and eccentric by giving away my stuff and locking us in here. Plus, I get along really well with you. Olaf's trust segments with us helped." Then he started to panic at the thought he actually will turn into a Lycanwing. "How could I know it'd come to this?" How could I know it was real?!"
Seems it was even too much for chicken as she clucked and try to escape. But as she tried to run off, Tuffnut jumped her and tackled the chicken to the ground.
"How could I know?!" Tuffnut asks as he held the chicken close. "How could I know?"
By the time that Hiccup and the others made it to Lycanwing Island, they were unaware that Tuffnut had escaped and was on the loose. They made their way to the island where they found a cave that they suspected to be the hiding place.
"This seems ominously spook," Leyla commented as she looked down the cave.
"Alright, Toothless. Give us some light." Hiccup asks of the dragon
Toothless complied as he sent a plasma blast down the tunnel to see how deep it went. When it finally hit the wall, they heard the screeching of familiar dragons. When they noticed the dragons, they quickly ducked as a flock of Terrible Terrors came flying past.
"No Lycanwings." Summer sighed in relief.
"Yet," Leyla said in worry.
"Come on, guys. Let's debunk this myth." Hiccup stated as he leads the way into the tunnel.
"Beware the beast." Fishlegs kept reading the phrase from the wall. "Turn back before you become him. Your fate is sealed! Did you hear that, Hiccup? Our fate is sealed!"
"Fishlegs, we're fine. It's just an old cave drawing." Hiccup tried to ease his friend.
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure if anything was going to come for us, it would have done it by now," Leyla stated as she explored the cave a little, not too far from the group.
Then Toothless growled and eyed something. That seemed to scare everyone as they looked over towards what he was growling at. What they saw was some shadow form of a strange dragon that looked similar to the Lycanwing from the Eye. They all jumped into a battle stance and defense stance whilst Fishlegs just grabbed onto Meatlug.
"If we have to go, girl. I'm glad it's with you." Fishlegs said as he whimpered in fear.
Hiccup then wondered what was happing and looked to where the shadow was being cast. When he figured out what was causing the figuration, he was able to sigh in relief.
"Look, it's eyes." Hiccup said as he walked off.
"I'm not looking into its eyes. Do you know me?!" Fishlegs asks as he continued to whimper.
Leyla however looked to where Hiccup was and understood as she calmed down. "Fishlegs, I think we're safe."
Fishlegs then looked to where they were facing and were shocked. "Are those..?
Hiccup walked over to a rock formation where it was shaped to look like a Lycanwing, but the eyes were something familiar. They were Dragon Eye lenses that were placed within the formation.
"Dragon eye lenses." Hiccup confirmed in shock.
"So...there's no Lycanwing?" Summer asks in surprise. "Got to admit, a little disappointed."
"Then...Tuffnut is alright?" Leyla asks the others.
"At least from turning into a Lycanwing." Hiccup muttered, knowing there's a lot of this not alright with Tuffnut. He then placed the lenses into his bag and they decided to go back. "Come on, let's go tell Tuff the news."
When they made their way back to the Edge, they found the whole place quiet. It was late at night, so the team could have just been asleep, but it didn't seem like that was the case when they found Gobber exiting the stables. They flew over and landed on the pad while Gobber was closing the doors o the stables.
"Gobber, how's Tuff doing?" Hiccup asks the blacksmith.
Gobber only chuckled as he carried a small canister in his hands. "Gone. He and the chicken flew the coop earlier. Said something about taking flights from the tallest cliff when he went "full dragon"."
"You didn't try and stop him?" Leyla asked in worry.
"I was a bit busy," Gobber admitted.
"Doing what?" Fishlegs wonders.
"Extracting sea snake venom from Snotlout," Gobber stated as he held the canister up, showing he also had a needle. "You should have heard him. He sounded like a yak being turned inside out."
"Well, we better go tell Ruffnut." Hiccup guessed.
"Gone, too," Gobber informed him. "Went to look for her brother. She seemed to think whether he was a dragon or not, he wouldn't survive the flight. Dragged Snotlout with her. Personally, I'm surprised he made the trip. The boys not looking so well."
"And the others?" Leyla wondered where they were.
"Out looking from the air." Gobber declared before he looked over near the edge of the stable. "Well, most of them anyhow."
They looked to where he was facing and they found Cutter was the only one left. He was laying down with an annoyed look on his face, the three Night Lights still teething on his spikes.
"Cutter? What are you still doing here?" Summer was curious why he didn't go with them.
"I was left behind on babysitting duty," Cutter stated as he just stayed on the ground. "The dragon with the best eyesight, and I was stuck here."
Hiccup didn't understand what he said but got a bit of an idea. "Toothless, you mind?"
Toothless screeched and the kids quickly jumped off of the dragon. Cutter jumped up and saw they were sitting there and weren't making any attempt to get back at him.
"That's all it took?!" Cutter asked in shock.
"Cutter, can you just find him?" Leyla asks of him.
Cutter then flew into the air whilst the others quickly jumped on their dragons and followed. Cutter leads the group as they were beginning to look around to try and find where Tuff was. They even found Heather, Dak, and Astrid and they joined the group to follow Cutter. They started with the night peak of the Edge whilst Cutter did his thing.
"Let's see." Cutter was using his eyesight to look around. "Crazy guy with a chicken. Shouldn't be hard to spot." Then he immediately found him and Ruffnut near a cliff. "Oh, there he is!"
"It's too late to stop the metamorphosis!" Tuffnut cried as he got ready to fly. "Can you not see what I have become?"
"Tuff, stop!" Hiccup cried as they all came in for a landing. "There is no metamorphosis. You're not turning into a dragon. Guys, tell him."
"It's true. We found the cave of the Lycanwing." Leyla confirmed.
"It was just a myth to keep people away from these," Fishlegs said she he showed the lenses.
Tuffnut was a little confused as well as not convinced about the idea. "No. No. I don't believe you." He then held the chicken close to him. "Look at me, I'm hideous. I'm terrifying."
"Tuff, you're not hideous!" Astrid assured him.
"Terrifying at times, yes." Heather declared as she came closer. "But you're definitely not hideous."
"We'll, then how do you explain this?" Tuffnut asks as he showed them the bite mark again. He looked around at the silence of all of them, still having no answer to that. "Exactly what I thought!"
But before Tuffnut could take a jump, they noticed Snotlout stumbling out of the woods with a bag. He was definitely beaten up and bruised from all of the bites he recited from the dozens of different species he was hit with.
"Wait, wait, wait! I can explain!" Snotlout stated.
"Whoa, you look worse than I do," Tuffnut commented.
"Uh, what's in the bag?" Dak was curious to know.
"I have what did this!" Snotlout showed a bite mark, similar to the one on Tuffnut.
Tuffnut shrieked as he saw the mark. "A Lycanwing got him too. Save yourselves!"
"It's not a Lycanwing," Snotlout informed him and looked to the others. "It's not even a dragon. It's a word. And I caught him. You're not turning into a dragon, Tuff."
"I'm not?" Tuffnut asked in surprise. "I'm not!"
"I just made you think that. It's not true." Snotlout promises him. "It's funny, but it's not true."
And just when they thought things were finally better, the ground below Tuffnut took this moment to give out. Tuffnut then started to fall and Toothless tried to quickly grab him, but he was just out of reach. Everyone started to panic just when they watched Tuffnut coming back into the air. Seems that their friends finally came back as Luna held Tuffnut, and Echo was holding Chicken.
"Don't worry, chicken. We're going home." Ruffnut promises the chicken.
"Uh, someone wanna explain what we missed?" Elsa asked as she looked down at the group.
"It's a long story." Hiccup sighed in relief.
"Uh, guys?" Leyla got their attention. She was looking at the bag and noticed that it was empty. "Where's the wolf?"
And just to add an insult to injury, the wolf came jumping from the woods and went straight for Snotlout. He let out a terrifying shriek just as the wolf came to take a bite out of him. But he was rescued when Echo let out a sonic scream that sent the wolf back into the woods.
"We should get back to the Edge." Hiccup stated as he was having enough of the creatures on their own island. "Come on."
