It was currently late at night, and the Dragon Riders were flying towards an island where Dragon Hunters were smuggling dragons off of it.

Okay, gang," said Hiccup, looking at the other Riders. "Stay with your teammate and lock down your specific island. This Dragon Hunter is sneaky."

Fishlegs continued, "He comes in, transfers his cargo, and slips out under the cover of darkness. Very mysterious."

"Very boring," Snotlout said. "Can we get to it?"

Then they flew toward the island and split off into groups. Hiccup flew north with Dak and Snotlout, heading for the island they had been chosen to take.

"So, how do we know when we've found the exact right one?" Dak asked as he looked through the spyglass Hiccup had given him.

"I would think he'd be the only Hunter out here, but if we find any others, we should take them down too," Hiccup playfully bargained with him.

"Okay," Dak agreed with that statement.

"So, I need you to put in a good word for me, Hiccup," Snotlout said as he flew over to Hiccup, avoiding the boy.

"What?" Hiccup asked him, wondering who he was talking about. "With whom? Astrid?"

"Please, I'm so over Astrid. I'm talking about Anna," Snotlout replies.

"Anna?" Hiccup wasn't sure if he was joking or not.

"I know she's been dying to approach me, but her fear is holding her back," Snotlout explains to him, confirming that he wasn't joking.

"Yeah, I don't think Anna is the kind of girl who gets scared, Snotlout," Hiccup informs him. "Besides, I'm not sure you're ready for a woman like her."

"I don't think anyone is," Dak agreed as he flew between them. "She's brave, honest, selfless, and understanding."

"I fake bravery, I can fake selflessness. I can fake all of those things." Snotlout stated.

"Oh, yeah, she's smart, too." Hiccup added.

Then the two flew away from Snotlout, leaving him behind as they flew over the island. He huffed and crossed his arms. "I can fake being smart."

Heather and the Thorston twins were soon flying over the island, and then Astrid noticed a Dragon Hunter ship and Hunters on the ground below. Heather held her hand out to signal the Thorston twins to stop. She watched as the Hunters made their way towards the ship.

Heather started, "I think we should move in slowly, preserving the element of..." However, before she could finish, the Thorston twins flew down toward the ground.

"Coming in hot!" Tuffnut shouted.

"Woo-hoo!" Ruffnut cried in joy.

Heather sighed and rubbed her head in annoyance. "Surprise," she finished sarcastically.

Knowing that they had no choice, they flew down toward the twins, who had made their way to a cart with a tarpaulin. It was probably the place where they were hiding to transport the dragon egg.

"Voilà!" Tuffnut cried, removing the tarpaulin and revealing the egg.

"Dragon egg!" Ruffnut cried in excitement.

By which point the Hunters had discovered them and began firing arrows at them. The Thorston Twins screamed as they ran for cover and one of the Hunters grabbed the cart.

"Oh, no, you don't!" said the twins in unison.

'Fire in the hole!' Barf and Belch roared as they fired a gas and spark attack, but it missed the Hunter.

By this point, Astrid and Anna had arrived. Echo let out a screech that sent a blast flying toward the Hunter. He was able to dodge it, but Stormfly shot quills at him to prevent him from getting away with the egg.

"Guys, we need to protect the egg, not fry it," said Astrid as she flew in.

"They're getting away!" Anna cried, pointing at the Hunters.

Indeed, the Hunters were already in a rowboat heading towards their ship. Astrid and Anna tried to intercept them, but the Hunters fired arrows at them from their ship. They were able to dodge the first wave of arrows as Echo screeched and sent them back at the Hunters.

"Windshear!" Heather yelled.

Windshear then fired a stream of flame up into the sky, creating a flare. The other Riders saw the flare instantly and flew over toward their position.

"We're never gonna get out of here!" A Hunter said as he saw Hiccup and Dak flying towards them from the port side.

"That's what they want!" another hunter exclaimed.

The captain began, "Do they want the egg? Give it to them!"

Then the hunter carried the egg and loaded it onto a catapult.

"Get ready to move, guys!" Astrid yelled.

"They're about to launch the egg!" Leyla called out.

"Fire!" the captain yelled, as they launched the egg into the air.

"We got it! We got it!" The Thorston twins yelled in unison, as they flew towards the egg.

"Back off, Twidiots," Snotlout yelled as he soared over towards the egg.

"Back off, Snotlout," Ruffnut yelled.

However, the three of them all missed the egg and collided with one another. Fishlegs was able to knock the egg towards Dak, which then bounced off Winger and flew towards Aggro.

"I got it!" Aggro exclaimed as she tried to save the egg. However, Aggro was unable to hold onto the egg with her claws and the distance between them grew smaller. "I don't have it!" she cried out in despair. "Burple! Catch it!"

"Huh?" Burple asks when it bumped off his head and hit Cutter.

"Ow!" Cutter cried as he shook it off, but then watched as the egg went flying through the air. "Whoops!"

"Astrid!" Elsa flew with Luna and used her ice blast to gently send the egg flying toward Astrid.

Astrid flew over and knocked the egg toward Heather with a flick of Stormfly's tail. "Heather!"

"Got it," Heather said as she reached for the egg, but she missed, and it rolled off Windshear toward the cliffside. The egg teetered on the edge, a mere inch away from the cliff, looking dangerously precarious. "No!"

The egg then tipped over the edge, but fortunately, Hiccup appeared out of nowhere atop Toothless, with Hiccup carrying the egg in his hands.

"Well, that was fun." Hiccup said as he and his sister then looked at the others. "Hey, I've got an idea; how we get this back to the edge, safely?"

The next morning, Hiccup, Leyla, and Fishlegs were in the clubhouse studying the egg, trying to figure out which species of dragon it belonged to.

"It's definitely not a Changewing," said Hiccup.

"Thank Thor," said Fishlegs, breathing a sigh of relief.

"This one doesn't show any signs of the eggs we discovered either," Leyla said. She and the others had come across some rare eggs before. But none of them matched the one currently in front of them.

"And it's not the type of any of our dragons." Hiccup said next.

"Oh, can you imagine Meatlug with her own egg?" Fishlegs asked wondrously. "It would be so cute."

"It wasn't so cute when she laid those eggs that blew up Berk," Elsa commented as she strolled past.

Hiccup began looking through the Book of Dragons, trying to find any clue about the eggs' identity. "I don't think it's in here, guys," he said.

Leyla looked at the size of the egg and wondered what kind of dragon it would become. "Without knowing what type of dragon it will be, we might not be able to take care of it properly if we don't know what kind it is when it hatches."

"Well, when it hatches, we'll find out sooner or later, kiddo," Hiccup assured her.

"Well, someone certainly has their own ideas on what it is," Tuffnut said as he entered the clubhouse.

Everyone then looked over and wondered what he was talking about. Chicken then jumped onto the table, looked at the egg, and sat on top of it.

"Look who's feeling motherly," Tuffnut said, smiling. "Aren't you, little chicken?" He then stuck his finger out towards Chicken. "Give me a kiss."

Then chicken pecked at his finger.

"OW! Easy, pal, I'm on your side," Tuffnut said, rubbing his finger.

Fishlegs chuckled. "If you're going to hatch that egg, I think you'll need a little more power than that, Chicken. But good try."

"Don't listen to him, Chicken. Haters gonna hate, hatchers gotta hatch," said Tuffnut snapping his fingers. "And, buddy, you're a-hatchin'."

Chicken then clucked and Tuffnut cooed.

"We should check the Dragon Eye notes again, just to be sure," Hiccup said, turning to Leyla and Fishlegs.

"Okay, but I didn't see anything in there about eggs or hatching," Fishlegs told him.

The three made their way outside to try and use the Dragon Eye notes. It was at that moment that Tuffnut noticed the egg was beginning to crack.

"Uh, guys," he said, trying to get their attention.

"Not now, Tuff," said Hiccup, with his head buried in the Book of Dragons.

"Okay," Tuffnut shrugged.

Then he bent down and watched as the egg began to crack some more. It was at that point that the three dragon experts heard the cracking sound and turned to discover the egg was about to hatch.

"Tuffnut!" Hiccup yelled.

"Knowing that the egg was about to hatch would have been helpful," Leyla frowned.

"Why did you say something?" Fishlegs asked.

"Really?" said Tuffnut rolling his eyes, now they notice.

They all made their way towards the egg and they heard more cracking sounds.

"Kind of makes you wonder what came first, the chicken, or the chicken," said Tuffnut, joking.

Leyla rolled her eyes, "Actually the phrase is 'the chicken or the e-'"

Just as she was about to finish, the egg exploded, covering them in gooey yolk and knocking Chicken into the air. Uncovering their eyes, they saw the newborn dragon. It had light orange-colored scales, two tiny horns, and four legs. None of them recognized the species.

Layla smiled at him. "Aww, he's adorable," she cooed.

"What is that?" Fishlegs asked.

"It looks familiar, but I can't place it," said Hiccup, feeling as if he had seen this type of dragon before.

Then the baby dragon began to scream loudly and harshly, causing three of them to cover their ears. His screams even startled Bruni, who jumped from his perch on the fireplace and even set it ablaze as he ran away from the noise.

"Oh, no! No, no! Stop! Stop!" Tuffnut screamed in pain as he was so close to the baby dragon.

Leyla immediately took it back! "He's cute, but he's really loud for a baby dragon his age," she yelled, having never heard a hatchling this loud before.

"I liked him better when he was inside the egg!" Fishlegs yelled to them as outside the dragons heard the screeching.

"AHH! What is that?" Winger exclaimed as he landed next to Dak.

"My ears!" Dak cried in terror. "What is going on?!"

"The egg hatched!" Summer exclaimed as she placed her wings over her ears.

"Well, how do we un-hatch it?" Cutter begged.

It was late at night, yet still, the baby dragon was screeching its lungs out. The Riders and their dragons could hardly take any more of it.

Aggro said, "For a baby dragon, he certainly has powerful lungs to keep screeching like that."

"I just wish it were less powerful," Winger cried, trying to cover his ears with his wings.

"Can someone please shut that thing up?!" Snotlout begged.

"Aww, it probably needs its mother," Anna said, looking at the baby dragon sympathetically. "Poor thing, all alone."

"That's what I was trying to say," Snotlout said, smiling at Anna. "Of course, these fools won't listen, but I do."

Leyla was then lost as to what she had just seen. "What's happening?"

Dak explained to his sister, "Snotlout has a thing for Anna now."

"I got it!" Tuffnut suddenly cried.

"What! What is it?" Hiccup asked hopefully.

"Garffiljorg." Tuffnut said.

"What?" The younger twins ask as they stare at him.

"His name," Tuffnut said, gesturing to the baby dragon.

"Who cares what we call it?" Ruffnut yelled. "It's Not like it's going to listen to us anyway."

"Chicken cares. I mean, it did come out of her." Tuffnut pointed out.

"Tuffnut, she didn't actually…" Hiccup began, but stopped when Tuffnut narrowed his eyes at him. "Never mind."

Later that night, they placed Garff in the stables; he was still crying as if there would be no tomorrow.

"Oh, how are the dragons going to sleep with this little guy in here?" Fishlegs moaned.

"It's them or us, Fishface," Snotlout said. He then made his way outside, passing Heather and Anna as he did so. "But, please, feel free to babysit that thing if you want to."

"Maybe I should stay with it?" Anna offered, feeling she could relate to the dragon being on its own.

Snotlout quickly turned around and smiled at Anna. "That's exactly what I was thinking," he said and leaned his arm around her. "Oh, we're like two peas in a pod, you and me, Anna."

Anna was quick to work; as soon as Snotlout tried to wrap an arm around her shoulder, she elbowed him in the hip. "Don't ever touch me, Snotlout," she said.

"I swear, I didn't teach her that," Elsa said, even though she was proud of her sister.

"Look, if we shut these doors, plug our ears, and sleep under our beds, we just might be able to catch a few winks," Hiccup said as Garff then cried even louder. The riders all cringed. "Yeah, okay, let's just get out of here before our heads explode."

All the Riders then made their way for the exit.

"Chicken, come on, it's bedtime," Tuffnut said, looking down at her. "Hey! I'll tell you the story about the angry chicken who took on the Buffalord."

However, Chicken wandered over towards Garff.

"She just ain't having it, she wants to stay with Garffiljorg. Or Garff as we all agreed." Tuffnut told them.

The chicken made its way over to Garff and began clucking rhythmically. To his surprise, Garff stopped crying. He was actually squawking in a rhythmic tone as well.

"Oh, he stopped cry..." Hiccup yelled, but quickly stopped and then said in a much quieter voice, "He stopped crying."

"But why?" Dak asked in surprise.

Tuffnut said, "That's because Chicken sang to him." He then chuckled. "Oh, the pipes, Chicken."

"And the way he copied her, it almost sounded like he was…Singing." Elsa slowed herself as she looked at Chicken and Garff as they stared at one another.

She then noticed the blue fins on the sides of Garff's head and his tail, as well as the shape of his head, wings, and horns. Suddenly, she realized she had seen those exact same features on another, much larger dragon. Looking over at Hiccup, she could see that he too was becoming increasingly concerned, indicating that he too had come to the same realization.

"Uh oh," Elsa said in worried.

"Um, what do you mean 'Uh-oh'?" Snotlout asked her. "Garff finally stopped crying."

"I think she means 'Uh-oh' as in we have figured out what kind of dragon Garff is." Hiccup said nervously.

Before the others could react, suddenly out of nowhere, Garff spat amber from his mouth. The amber covered Chicken's body, leaving her completely defenseless, and Garff began to lick his lips excitedly.

"Bad dragon!" Tuffnut yelled, grabbing Chicken before Garff could sink his teeth into her. He then looked at the others.

"What?" Leyla asked as she approached the cocooned chicken. "What kind of dragon does this? We've never seen one like this before."

Heather however froze as she finally recalled the dragon as well. "We have."

The dragon riders noticed their oldest members looking in shock and horror. They knew this dragon because it was one of the first dragons they had met when they left Wingmaiden Island.

"It's a baby Deathsong," Hiccup muttered I worry.

"What's a Deathsong?" Dak asks.

"It's… it's a terrible story," Heather said. They needed to tell them everything.

They then left the stables as Garff continued to cry.

Hiccup had spent most of the night and early morning trying to figure out how to cut the chicken out of the amber, while Tuffnut cried hysterically. Meanwhile, Heather and Elsa brought everyone up to speed on what the Deathsong was and what it was capable of.

"Tuffnut, could you please help me out?" Hiccup asked him.

"And do what?" Tuffnut asks through the sobs.

"Calm your chicken! It's not doing any of us any good to have the entire Edge freaking out." Hiccup explains.

"I'm here, Chicken. Don't you worry. Everything is going to be..." Tuffnut tried to assure her, but she started crying again. "I can't lie to a chicken!" he said as he pulled her into a hug.

"You know, that's how much easier if you had some Monsterous Nightmare gel. Plus, you could get yourself some rotisserie chicken while you're at it." Snotlout tells them. "That sound good."

That was when Tuffnut screamed and tackled Snotlout to the ground. "You apologize to her right now! You hear me?" he told Snotlout. "Nobody's roasting chicken! So you keep that Monstrous Nightmare away from her!"

Hiccup suddenly remembers how they were able to escape the Death Song amber as he moves toward Hookfang. "Actually, Tuff, Snotlout might actually be onto something."

"Oh, sure, what's next, roasted Toothless?" Tuffnut asks as he released Snotlout.

"Just stay with me here. When I and the girls had a run-in with an adult Deathsong on Melody Island, we were able to escape using Nightmare Gel." Hiccup explained as he took some gel off of the dragon using a knife and had the Zippleback light it up.

"Don't do it, Hiccup!" Tuffnut begs him. "You'll singe her little feathers. And that's all she has in the whole wide world. Except for me, of course. Feathers and me."

"I'm just doing enough to get it started," he explained. "I won't go deep enough to get remotely close to the chicken. See?" The cocoon was now weakened. "Now, Toothless?"

Toothless used his claw and sliced the chicken out of the amber as it shattered into pieces. Once it was released, it passed out as Tuffnut pushed Hiccup out of the way and picked up the chicken.

"The chickens are free! The chickens are free!" Tuffnut cheers as Anna returns with the Deathsong and the chickens scatter in fear. "We need to remove Garff from this island right now!"

"Okay, Tuff, don't you really think you're overreacting?" Hiccup asked him.

"Nonsense!" Tuffnut said as he threw the chicken, leaving Hiccup to catch it.

"It is getting difficult to handle this guy, Hiccup," Astrid admits.

"She's right, Hiccup. I mean, he just went after Chicken. How long before he goes after us?" Fishlegs agrees.

"And what are we gonna do when this little guy gets bigger?" Elsa questioned as well.

"He's got to go!" Snotlout declared, making his way over to Garff. "So it looks like it's off to Melody Island with you."

"Melody Island?" Leyla asked, looking at the others. "Who named it that?"

"Olaf," Hiccup, Elsa, and Heather said in unison as they recalled the day Olaf had named the island after the dragon that lived there.

"Snotlout, did you forget the part of the story where an adult Death Song tried to eat all of us and our dragons?" Hiccup asked, reminding him that even if they went back to Melody Island, they would still have to deal with the adult Death Song already there.

"Well, I did, until you just brought those up," Snotlout admitted sheepishly. "Thank you for that."

"Yeah, no, it is too dangerous for any of us to go there," Heather quickly points out, seeing this as a bad idea; she can't stand Garff's scream, but she isn't that desperate.

"And we don't even know if an adult dragon will be able to bond with a baby that's not its own." Fishlegs pointed out.

"It really depends on the species," Echo commented.

"Or the pack," Winger commented, recalling their pack of strange dragons mixed together.

"You guys, he's too young to know right from wrong," Anna said, looking at Garff sympathetically. "He's just following his instincts. I know what it's like to be all alone in the world. We can't just shun him."

"Yeah," Heather agreed, having had a similar experience herself when she was younger. "He's just a hatchling fresh out of his egg. He's new to the world; we can't just dump him like that."

Hiccup thought for a moment. "They're right," he agreed with their points. "We've trained everything from a Night Fury to a Nightmare. We can certainly train him not to eat us, right?"

"Yeah, we can try," Fishlegs said.

"We owe it to Garff." Heather nodded.

"Speak for yourselves," Tuffnut muttered while holding Chicken as she clucked.

"And what about that?" Snotlout yelled, gesturing to Garff's crying. "Does anyone else, besides Hiccup, have any ideas before I take a running leap off the top of the Edge?"

"Nobody say a word," Astrid said, quickly smirking, liking the idea of Snotlout taking a leap off the Edge.

"Funny, Astrid," Snotlout muttered. "By the way, I'm over you, in case you hadn't heard. And I'm just being honest with you because I'm nothing if not honest. Did you hear that, Anna?"

Anna, however, was actually humming, and Garff's crying began to subside. "Where the north wind meets the sea. There's a river full of memory. Sleep, my darling, safe and sound. For in this river, all is found. In her waters, deep and true."

Garff barely stopped crying again and seemed to be falling asleep.

"Lie the answers and a path for you. Dive down deep into her sound. But not too far, or you'll be drowned. Yes, she will sing to those who hear. And in her song, all magic flows. But can you brave what you most fear? Can you face what the river knows? Where the north wind meets the sea. There's a mother full of memory. Come, my darling, homeward bound. When all is lost, then all is found."

By the end of the song, Garff was sound asleep in Anna's arms.

"That was… that was just beautiful, Anna," Fishlegs said breathlessly, wiping away his tears of joy.

Snotlout began mimicking kisses and imitating Fishlegs. "That was just beautiful, Anna," he said, continuing to mimic kisses.

Elsa was amazed as she hasn't heard that song in a long time since she was a child. "You remembered the song?"

Anna nodded with a smile as she rocked the dragon to soothe him. "I never forgot it. I used to sing it to help me sleep better after Winger's mom saved me."

"Not to mention singing it to us," Dak commented.

"Yeah, it helped us out." Leyla agreed.

"Well, would you look at that? Garff wasn't the only one it worked on," said Heather, pointing at the Thorston twins, who were now fast asleep along with Chicken in their dragons.

"It makes perfect sense," Hiccup whispered softly, so as not to wake up Garff. "The Death Song sings to its prey to draw them in. That could be the primary way it communicates."

"And that must be how the Adult Deathsongs keep their babies under control," Elsa guessed.

"Which means, singing might help us train Garff," Heather added.

"Interesting," Hiccup said as he was getting some ideas. "What do you guys think?"

"It's worth a shot," Dak added.

"Yak dung!" Snotlout coughed a little too loudly, causing Garff to awaken and begin crying again. "Well, you better keep singing then."

"You mean, we!" Hiccup yelled.

"I do?" Snotlout blinked.

"Oh, yes, you do," Heather said with a smirk.

"Oh, yes, of course, I do," Snotlout frowned, still not understanding what they meant.

Hiccup took Garff towards the lagoon, where he then placed him down on the ground and began to sing.

"Come listen my young dragon friend, and I will tell a tale. Of days when Vikings feared the sound of monsters' distant wail. For was a time not long ago, when wars were bravely fought. Against a foe we feared before a lesson we were taught that night of fury one did dare to set aside his dread, and place his hand upon a winged villain's gentle head. Now time has past, and what was once our cursed enemy, now carries us to battle against our threat across the sea"

He then heard Garff spit and looked down to see that his prosthetic leg had been glued upon with amber.

"Ugh!" Hiccup groaned as he knew it would take some time to get the amber off his prosthetic leg.

Leyla sat in her hut with Summer and rocked Garff in her arms. She hummed a lullaby to him while Garff yawned. Summer warbled a dragon-like lullaby to Garff as well.

"Where the north wind meets the sea. There's a river full of memory. Sleep, my darling, safe and sound. For in this river, all is found. In her waters, deep and true."

She wasn't really the best at singing in front of a crowd, but she was trying to help this little dragon sleep and the rest of the Edge. And even then, right now it was just the same lullaby from Anna as that seemed to work.

Leyla sang as Summer copied her, singing in a gentle, dragon-like tone. Garff yawned as he went to sleep. Leyla gently placed him in a makeshift bed, where the baby Death Song curled up and slept peacefully. As they left the hut quietly, Leyla gently closed the door behind them, letting Garff sleep.

Leyla then turned to Summer with a smile. "Garff is so cute when he's asleep. Don't you agree, Summer?" she asked her friend.

"He sure is adorable when he's sleeping," Summer warbled in agreement.

"Yeah, luckily I remember that song from when Anna sang it to us," Leyla said as she sighed and thought about how things were before they met the Dragon Riders. "Traveling out in the world really was an exciting adventure."

"Yeah, it was an amazing time," Summer said as they went to their huts.

Later that evening, it was Fishlegs' turn. He was playing a soothing tune on his panpipes to try and calm Garff down. However, before Garff could fall asleep, he kept throwing amber at Fishlegs, who had to keep on dodging it while continuing to play.

He only stopped when Garff was fast asleep on the ground and he gave a sigh of relief. He then turned and saw Meatlug was covered in spots of amber.

Meatlug growled at Fishlegs because she was the one covered in amber. She growled as Fishlegs gave her a sheepish apologetic look.

Later, it was Dak's turn as he flew with her on Winger, singing the song he had once sung to himself as a child. Anna used to sing it to the dragons when they were hatchlings, and it just might work.

"Hush now, quiet now, it's time to lay your sleepy head. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to say goodnight. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to turn off the lights. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to lay in your bed." Dak wasn't the best to come up with many original songs, so this was the best he could do with. "Hush now, quiet now, it's time to be in your pens. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to dream. Hush now, quiet now, it's time to get a good night's sleep."

Garff then fell asleep as he lay on Dak's lap, and the young dragon boy sighed in relief.

"Thank Thor, Anna taught me that song, and it only took five tries," Dak said as he glanced down at Winger, who had some amber splodges on his tail and head.

"Not funny," Winger growled irritably.

"Sorry, bud. I'll get those off of you later. I promise," said Dak as he and his dragon moved away.

"Yeah, right," Winger said, not sounding convinced.

When Garff woke up that night, it was Snotlout's turn to take care of him. He was flying around the Edge on top of a blazing Hookfang.

"I killed my first boar When I was just a boy, A big ol' battle axe Was my favorite toy. Each of my enemies, They all have been destroyed. For I am Snotlout, oy, oy, oy! Snotlout, Snotlout, oy, oy oy! He's all man and you're all boy. Yes, I said it, try me if you dare. I'll chill you to the bone With my steely glare!"

As Snotlout sang, Garff looked at Hookfang, as if asking him if this was really a song.

"Trust me, kid; this is probably the best you'll get from Snotlout." Hookfang snorted as they flew back to the Edge.

Then, in the middle of the night, there was a knock at the door of the Thorston twins' hut. When they opened it, they found Snotlout standing there, holding Garff up by the ankles and covered in amber, with a crying Garff in his hands.

"You guys are up, take him," Snotlout ordered.

Hookfang grumbled, "Please, this guy is insufferable." He said, seeing the amber on his horns.

"No, no, no!" said Tuffnut firmly as he backed away, not wanting to be near Garff.

The chicken wandered in and Garff stopped crying to look at it. He then licked his lips and Chicken quickly hid behind Tuffnut's leg.

"He's fine, he just gets a little cranky when the music stops," Snotlout said as he then dropped Garff onto the floor and quickly made his way outside. "Okay? That's all. So ha-ha, you're gonna have so much fun."

Snotlout then closed the door behind him, got onto Hookfang, and flew off laughing. When he left, Garff quickly made his way over to Chicken licking his lips.

The two had no choice but for Tuffnut to begin singing: "No, Garff, no, you must not hurt Chicken. For Chicken is a friend who will see you to the end."

Ruffnut then shoved her brother out of the way and sang, "No, Garff, no, you cannot eat Tuff's chicken. Eating that bird will tear Tuffnut's heart apart."

Tuffnut then got back on his feet and sang, "Why must you eat my pet? It's the only one I'll get. And now all I can do is fret, 'cause we just met. Something else that rhymes with met."

Ruffnut then shoved him out of the way and said, "But, how long, how long? How long can we keep this up? Can we keep this up? Keep this up?"

Then Chicken jumped on top of Tuffnut's head and began crowing. Garff tackled them both to the ground, and they both screamed.

At Hiccup's workshop, Hiccup was hard at work on a more advanced version of the knife he used to save Chicken. He was currently trying to use Monsterous Nightmare Gel to make it ignite but it had failed.

Hiccup said, "That was supposed to work."

"Hiccup!" he heard a voice from everyone outside.

Astrid said, "This is officially out of hand!" as she hopped off of Stormfly and showed them that they were covered in amber. "We can't go on like this," she added.

The other Riders agreed in a chorus of sounds.

"Seriously, he's pretty much spit everyone on the Edge!" Elsa agreed, even though she didn't want to abandon him.

"But we can't abandon him," Anna said as she and Echo flew around with Garffijor. "I'd never be able to forgive myself."

"I'm sick of rhyming with 'met'," Tuffnut continued singing.

"We won't abandon him," Hiccup promised Anna as he walked out of his hut with his new sword in hand. "We'll do what we should have done, to begin with; we'll take him to be with his own kind." He said as his sword lit up with a small spark from Bruni.

"Hiccup, are you saying what I think you're saying?" Elsa asks him in concern. "Because for all of our sakes, I hope you aren't."

"Yes, we're going back to Melody Island to find that Deathsong," Hiccup said as he held the flaming sword out.

The next morning, they all gathered at the Dome. Anna was humming softly to Garff to keep him quiet as she flew on Echo. Meanwhile, the other Riders were preparing for their journey, which was not going to be an easy one, considering they were trying to get a dangerous male dragon to adopt a dangerous baby dragon.

"So, have you had any thoughts about the fact that the Deathsong mind-controls our dragons?" Heather asks Hiccup, wondering if he has a plan for it.

"Actually, I have," Hiccup said as he placed something in her hand. "We're going to handle that by using these."

"Moss earplugs! Awesome!" said Fishlegs excitedly as Hiccup handed him a set.

"This should help block out the Deathsong's call," Elsa says.

"I believe so," Hiccup said confidently. "I custom-made these for each dragon to keep out Deathsong's call."

"Great. As if this guy needed another reason not to listen," Snotlout muttered, gesturing toward Hookfang.

"Watch it." Hookfang snorted at him.

"You didn't happen to make any for us, did you?" Astrid asked sarcastically.

Snotlout began laughing sarcastically. "Very funny, Astrid. You should take that comedy routine on the road."

"Maybe I will," Astrid said with a smirk as she mounted Stormfly and then took off.

"Oh. 'Maybe I will'." Snotlout muttered. "Execution because it's completely contextual."

Hookfang growled. "Contextual?" he questioned, wondering what that meant or if Snotlout even knew what it meant.

"Let's just go and bring Garff to his kin before he cries," Elsa pointed out, as the others mounted their dragons and took to the air.

Hours later, with the dragons wearing earplugs and flying toward Melody Island, Anna had insisted on carrying Garff, who was now asleep in her arms.

"Fishlegs, how did you swing that?" Hiccup asked, looking back at the husky Viking.

"Dragon Nip," Fishlegs answered as he held out a handful of Dragon Nip. "I wasn't entirely sure it would work on this particular species. It only took a couple of tries to get close enough to knock the little guy out." He then looked down apologetically at Meatlug, who was covered in amber and snorting at him. "Sorry, girl."

"It had better be worth it," Meatlug growled.

Anna said, "At least he's sleeping peacefully."

"Just make sure he's awake when we get there," Hiccup said. "We need him alert and focused."

While they were flying, Astrid was cheering up their spirits by making jokes about Snotlout; much to the amusement of everyone and much to Snotlout's dismay.

"How do you get a one-armed Jorgenson out of a tree?" Astrid asked. "You waved at them!"

They all laughed, except for Snotlout.

"Good one, Astrid," Elsa laughed.

"Yeah! Whoa!" Heather cheered, loving the joke.

"Wave to him, that's not even funny," muttered Snotlout under his breath. "Oh, I just got it. Yes, it is funny."

"How do you sink a Jorgenson battleship?" Astrid asked. "You put it in the water," she answered herself.

They all laughed again, apart from Snotlout.

Anna shouted, "Keep them rolling!"

"Do another one!" Fishlegs insisted.

"Come on, more, just one more," Dak pleaded.

"Yeah, more!" Leyla yelled.

Snotlout mimics their laughter bitterly. "That's right, laugh, all of you." He said, laughing sarcastically. "But don't come running to me when you're out of Nightmare gel."

All right, gang; the Death Song strike is very precise," Hiccup said as Melody Island came into view. "Streamlined, so we need to spread out. That way, it can only go after one of us at a time."

They then flew down around Melody Island and began searching for the Deathsong. It took them a long time to find its cave, but when they finally did, Hiccup and Toothless went to investigate while the others began telling one of their Jorgenson jokes.

"Hey, how do you confuse a Jorgenson?" Astrid whispered. "Put him in a round arena and tell him to go to the corner."

They all laughed, even Hookfang doing a dragon's equivalent of a chuckle. "Heh, good one," he said.

"You don't even understand jokes," Snotlout glared at his dragon.

Hookfang simply huffed. "Buzzkill."

Hiccup then emerged from the cave. "It's not home," he said. "That's good news for Garff."

"And bad news for us," said Snotlout in terror.

Hiccup then mounted Toothless. "All right, let's find this guy."

they flew to the place where the Death Song trapped it's prey. They hear the Deathsong's harmonic growls echoing through the canyon,

Elsa said, "He's close." Looking around.

Fortunately, this time their dragons weren't drawn to it as they had been last time. Meaning the earplugs were doing their job to keep them safe from the call.

"The earplugs are working, Hiccup," said Fishlegs.

"Great. Now let's get in closer." Hiccup said. "Everyone on high alert."

"We don't want that Death Song catching us by surprise," said Elsa.

"No kidding," muttered Snotlout.

Then they flew down toward the ground and into the valley they had been trapped in before. Inside, they found dragon bones covered in amber. Anna noticed Garff Sterling in her arms.

"Oh, no. Guys," Anna warned that Garff could wake up soon.

"Yeah, we got it," Hiccup nodded, realizing they did not have much time.

If the adult Deathsong heard Garff crying, that would just peak his curiosity.

He signaled for the other riders to stop and Anna began humming, trying to keep Garff quiet while Fishlegs made shushing sounds. Suddenly, Heather was struck by a shot of amber and shrieked.

"Guys!" Anna yelled as she was next to get shot and dropped Garff in the process.

"Anna!" Fishlegs yelled, before he too was struck by amber and landed opposite on the ground.

The two of them were now trapped in amber cocoons atop their dragons, who were now unable to move or fly. They looked up and saw the Deathsong flying toward them with a harmonic roar.

"Well, good news, we found the adult Deathsong," Dak said sarcastically.

"More like he found us," Leyla cried out.

Hiccup turned to the other Riders. "Remember, if we don't bunch up, it can't..." However, before he could finish, the Deathsong fired shots of amber at them. "Heads up!"

"Take cover!" Elsa yelled.

Hiccup and Toothless were able to dodge the shots, but unfortunately, the others weren't so lucky. With the dragons now trapped within the amber and stuck on their saddles, they began crashing towards the ground.

"Ah! I hate this guy!" Snotlout yelled as he and Hookfang crashed to the ground.

"Looks like the Deathsong learned a new trick the last time we saw it." Elsa commented in surprise as she used her ice to blast the amber to harden it before it could hit her and Luna.

The Deathsong then landed in front of them and roared at them. The Riders tried their best to free themselves, but the amber was too thick, leaving them at the mercy of the Deathsong once more.

However, before it struck, Garff had awoken and was flying down toward it. He then began to cry at the top of his voice, and it seemed to have given the Deathsong pause. "A hatchling?" he said in confusion.

"Never thought I'd be happy to hear that," Snotlout said, actually relieved by Garff's screeching.

"Don't hurt them! They friends." Garff squealed as the adult Deathsong lowered his head to him.

The adult Deathsong then shot a bit of amber in front of Garff then seconds later Garff mimicked him.

"Well, at least they're not shooting it at us," Hiccup said.

"Looks like they're communicating," said Elsa as she flew in to land next to Hiccup.

The Deathsong roared out in a melodious voice, "Dragons of the sea, hear and come to me." When Garff remained still, the Deathsong frowned, "I said, dragons of the sea, hear and come to me." He repeated his command in the same manner once more.

Garff got the idea and began screeching melodiously as well. "When the north wind meets sea!" he screeched. But the words he used caught the Death Song by surprise.

The Riders watched as the Deathsong lowered its head towards Garff and roared melodiously once more. Garff screeched melodiously again, but the adult Death Song shook his head in disbelief.

Hiccup then landed on the ground and dismounted Toothless. "Hey, I think they're bonding," Hiccup said.

"Uh, I don't think so," Dak said, knowing that Hiccup wasn't good at understanding full dragon speech.

"I did good?" Garff asked innocently, and the adult Deathsong answered by slapping him with his tail, sending him flying into a rock. "Owie!"

"Garff!" Heather yelled in worry.

"This can't end well," Winger said.

"I didn't expect that," Elsa commented.

"We're dead," said Aggro.

"Hiccup!" Fishlegs yelled.

Hiccup then quickly drew his sword, but before he could do anything, both him and Toothless were shot by the Deathsong's amber. The two of them were now stuck in place, unable to move, and his sword was slipped on the ground next to them; they couldn't even bend down to reach them.

"I knew this was going to be bad," Snotlout moaned. "Why doesn't anyone listen to me?"

Garff then regained consciousness and looked at the adult Deathsong. "W-why did you do that?" he asked.

The Adult Death Song roared melodically, not understanding why Garff kept messing up.

Fishlegs began to whimper and humming and Garff began to mimic the tune. The Adult Deathsong heard this and realized,

"So it was they who were teaching you how to sing incorrectly," he growled.

Snotlout glared over at Fishlegs. "Fishface!" he growled, his teeth clenched together.

"I'm sorry, I hum when I'm nervous," Fishlegs said defensively.

"Hum-aah!" Snotlout snapped. "I heard they love humming in Valhalla."

"Hey, that's my favorite lullaby, and I was the one who taught it to Garff," Fishlegs said defensively.

"Well, that might be the problem," Hiccup said, realizing the problem they were facing. "He's singing our songs, the ones we sang to him, and the adult Deathsong doesn't like them."

"That would explain why the adult Deathsong hurt Garff," Heather added, now seeing that the adult Death Song had tried to teach Garff its song. "I guess when a baby Deathsong is hatched, its parents teach it how to sing its proper song."

"You know, everyone's a critic," Snotlout complained.

The Deathsong looked at the cowering Garff angrily. "These humans have taught you terrible songs from each other, and now you can't even sing our own right!" He roared in anger. "Now get out of here while I get rid of these bad influences!"

Garff ran off and hid behind a rock as he watched in frightened terror.

The Deathsong then turned to face them with an angry look on his face. "You humans have poisoned that boy," he said. "If one of you can sing 'Dragons of the sea, hear and come to me,' then maybe I won't eat you." He growled at them.

"So, what do we do?" Astrid inquired.

"Keep singing," Hiccup suggested. "Maybe we can find a song he likes."

"I'm sorry, but I need some time to prepare," said Tuffnut. "My golden throat is a very delicate instrument."

Then the Deathsong grabbed him, pulled him off Belch, and lifted him up into the air. "Sing the right song or you're first-to-be dinner!" he growled at Snotlout.

Tuffnut decided that he didn't need to prepare and began to sing. "Oh, Deathsong, oh, Deathsong. You're big and mean, and you kill a lot. And you spit out goo that looks like snot!"

The Deathsong narrowed its eyes as it didn't like the song; it began shaking Tuffnut around frantically. "Wrong!"

"Help!" Tuffnut cried out.

Snotlout looked at the Deathsong fearfully and began to sing. "Oh, it's a scary, scary, bad dragon. It's going to kill us all. It's going to kill us. I hope it doesn't. I hope it leaves soon."

"Hey, that doesn't rhyme!" Ruffnut exclaimed.

"Oh, like it knows!" snapped Snotlout.

However, the Deathsong stopped shaking Tuffnut and glared down at Snotlout, and began to roar melodiously.

"Okay, sorry," said Snotlout apologetically.

"The hotness of your goo gives me déjà vu," Heather tried to say, recalling the first time they ran into this dragon.

"Yep, that's it. Much better," Ruffnut said with a smile.

"No, no, no," the Death Song growled in frustration. "That's not it."

As Astrid began to sing, he turned to her as she said, "The beauty of your wings makes us all want to sing."

As they sang, Garff emerged from hiding and began moving his head to the rhythm. Hiccup and the others soon joined in as well.

"Want to sing!"

"Want to sing!"

"Want to sing!"

"Want to sing!"

"Want to sing!"

"Want to sing!"

The Deathsong seemed to be enjoying the song they were singing as it was moving its head to the rhythm. "Yes, yes," he growled in satisfaction. "That's more like it."

But just as the Deathsong was getting into it, Ruffnut then began to sing herself: "All of us want to see your death song. We all want to be like you and growl!"

The Deathsong charged straight toward Ruffnut. "And you ruined it!" he roared as Ruffnut screamed.

Then out of nowhere Garff flew in and began to sing melodically, "Dragons of the sea, hear and come to me! Dragons of the sea, hear and come to me!" as he flew up into the air.

Apparently, this time the Deathsong was smiling at Garff for singing the right song. "You finally got it!" He purred happily, liking the tune, and flew up after him, beginning to mimic the rhythm. "Dragons in the sky and sea, come and heed me!" He sang.

Garff then looked down at Heather, who was smiling up at him. "Can I go with him?" he chirped uncertainly.

"Go on, Garff, it's okay," Anna assured him with a smile.

Then they watched as the two Deathsongs flew away for Garff's adoptive father to teach him how to be a true Deathsong. The Dragon Riders watched in relief as the two Deathsongs flew away.

"I don't believe it," Hiccup said, shaking his head in disbelief. "Garff saved us."

"Yep, we saved him, and he saved us," Heather said with a smile.

Leyla said, "Garff is a very surprising dragon."

Tuffnut then gasped. "I just had a thought. Now that they're both on the same team, what's stopping them from both eating us?" he asked.

Toothless then used his tail to hand Hiccup the sword, which ignited. He then used the blade to free himself and his dragon from the amber.

"Hiccup, that's brilliant!" exclaimed Fishlegs in awe. "If you find the weak spot in the cocoon, the rest will crack and fall apart."

"You never cease to amaze us," Elsa said with an awed smile.

"Thanks," Hiccup said with a proud smile. "Now, let's get out of here before they get their appetites back."

Once they were freed, they mounted their dragons and flew away from Melody Island. They hoped it would be a long time before they ever needed to set foot on Melody Island again. Hiccup looked over his sword, which was still burning brightly.

"You know, if you were to double the size of that, it would make a really cool sword," Astrid comments on the weapon.

"Exactly. I'm thinking of calling it Inferno," Hiccup informed the group, and nobody was quite sure about the name. "I mean, look at it."

"Nah. It doesn't have the right je ne sais quoi," Tuffnut says.

"Je ne sais quoi?" Hiccup asks. "How did you do...all right. I'll give it another shot, but I'll need to make some adjustments. Extend the shaft, add another canister of Monsterous Nightmare gel, and make the gas canister airtight. Oh, I've got to get started on this thing right away!"

Heather just shook her head as he flew off ahead of them. "And that's the last we'll see of Hiccup this week," she said in amusement.

They all laughed as they flew back towards the Edge. As they flew, Snotlout began to carry on his song. "Ooh, he's a scary bad dragon; He didn't kill us, I'm glad he didn't. Now we can go home."

But that's when things began to get a little stranger for the Ice Queen. When she was asleep in her ice castle, Luna was sleeping nearby when something woke Elsa up.

The exact same melody that had led her to Anna could be heard, causing her to freeze and wonder what that was. When she got up, she started to walk out towards her balcony and looked outwards, wondering where the call was coming from.

"Who are you?" Elsa whispered out to the distance, wondering who or what was calling her now.
