"Bird watchers! We could fly, but no. We have to walk; twenty miles, probably," Marco groused, stomping through the forest on the way to their next destination.

As they all continued on their way through the forest and up into the mountains where the Yeerk ship Tobias had not-quite-spotted had been headed, Tommy found himself more than a little amused by how annoyed Marco was acting; he sometimes wondered just how much of Marco's general annoyance with things was an act. Marco seemed to enjoy making people laugh, something he'd noticed more and more the longer he'd spent around him and the other Animorphs, so he couldn't help but wonder how much of the annoyance that Marco was showing was from that.

"Oh, come on, Marco," Cassie chided, a gentle smile on her face as the five of them continued deeper onward into the forest. "It's an opportunity to try out a new morph!"

Tommy laughed softly to himself; if there was one thing he'd gotten to know about Cassie, even spending such a comparatively short time with her and the rest of their fellow Animorphs, it was that she'd never turn down the chance to learn something new about the animals she cared so much about. Still, the fact that Jake was going to be the only one of them morphing into a male wolf was kind of strange, in concept.

Sure, changing into animals the way they did was more than a little strange, but Tommy was pretty sure that this would be the first time they'd all be morphing into girls. Still, it wasn't like that was the strangest thing they were going to be doing, but something about the idea did stick in Tommy's mind a bit. Maybe because it was something comparatively normal to think about.

Cassie was the one to morph first, of course, but it was what happened after that was so funny; he wouldn't have expected Rachel to be the kind to start cheating on a diet that had been her idea in the first place, but he really didn't know Rachel that well, in the end.
